  1. There is a LOT of construction happening right now in Magic Kingdom. A new Villains land is being built. A new Cars area is also being built. Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin is getting some huge updates, as is Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. Sir Mickey’s However, one popular Magic Kingdom shop is also going to be getting some changes. Disney has filed a new permit for Sir Mickey’s — and it could have something to do with some changes coming to Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique. Disney World has filed a permit for 1396 Magic Kingdom Drive, Bay Lake, which coincides with the address of Sir Mickey’s, the shop in Fantasyland that’s just behind Cinderella Castle (and the shop where you can get a special pixie dusting). It also houses the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique Royal Portrait Studio, where kids who’ve had their makeovers can get photos taken. Inside Sir Mickey’s The permit is to “install scenic prop elements, and audio and lighting equipment.” Now, we’re not 100% sure this has something to do with the Royal Portrait Studio, but it is likely, especially with the addition of prop elements. So it’s possible that this part of the shop is getting a serious upgrade. Royal Portrait Studio Again, we’re not 100% sure what is happening inside Sir Mickey’s, and the construction could be for something else inside the store. But Disney World has announced some changes to Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, including the addition of the Fairy Godmother, as well as simplifying its packages. Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique We’ll keep an eye out for more details about this construction, so stay tuned to DFB for more. 4. According to the Orlando Sentinel, a woman is suing Universal Orlando for injuries she sustained after riding Stardust Racers at Epic Universe. This is the same roller coaster that Kevin Rodriguez Zavala died after riding on September 17th, 2025. Stardust Racers The lawsuit was filed by Sandi Streets, a 49-year-old woman from Sanford, FL. She is claiming that she suffered permanent injuries after riding Stardust Racers back in April. The lawsuit states that “her head shook violently and slammed into her seat’s headrest,” resulting in permanent injury. On September 17th, Kevin Rodriguez Zavala passed away after riding the Stardust Racers roller coaster. The Orange County Medical Examiner’s Office concluded that he died from blunt impact injuries. Universal Orlando conducted an internal review and found that the ride “functioned as intended” and that staff members “correctly followed procedures.” Stardust Racers Now, another woman is stepping forward, claiming that since riding the attraction, she began “began suffering severe headaches and a sore neck from possible whiplash.” She is seeking damages of more than $50,000. According to WCJB, Sandi Streets “has suffered disability, medical care expenses, loss of the ability to work, and an exacerbation of a preexisting condition since going on the ride.” She rode the roller coaster back on April 30th and is still suffering pain and has had to seek medical treatment. Stardust Racers Neither Nicholas Spetsas, lawyer for Sandi Streets, nor Universal Orlando has commented on the new lawsuit. The family of Kevin Rodriguez Zavala has also hired a lawyer to better understand how he died on Stardust Racers. According to USA Today, the attorney representing Kevin Rodriquez Zavala’s family, Ben Crump, has stated, “Just because you say there are no malfunctions, that doesn’t mean that there are not safety issues.” His firm is conducting an investigation and demanding answers from Universal Orlando. Previously, Cardmembers were able to access an exclusive meet-and-greet at Star Wars Launch Bay, but that area is now closed to make way for The Walt Disney Studios. Disney Visa Card Being a Disney Visa Cardmember comes with a variety of perks, including discounts at dining locations and special offers on Disney vacations. In addition to those perks, cardmembers can also take advantage of photo opportunities. You can stop by to visit Olaf at Celebrity Spotlight in Echo Lake with free photo downloads from 9 AM to 12 PM daily. Just show your Disney Visa Card for entry into the meet and greet. Hopefully, over the next few days, all of the Cast Members at Celebrity Spotlight will be trained on the new photo opportunity! We know that yesterday was the first day of the perk, so information was likely still being distributed to Cast Members. Olaf at Celebrity Spotlight The second photo opportunity is a Star Wars photo opportunity. You can find this photo opportunity at the entrance of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge when you are coming in from Toy Story Land. 6. Today marks an important milestone – our precious Sumatran tiger cub Bakso is celebrating his first birthday at Disney’s Animal Kingdom! For a whole year, this tiger has pounced his way into our hearts and shined as a beacon of hope for Sumatran tiger conservation around the world. From Playful Cub to Symbol of Hope Born to mom Sohni and dad Conrad, Bakso arrived as a tiny bundle of orange-and-black fur with faint stripes and bright blue eyes. His playful and curious personality quickly emerged – an inquisitive cub with a heart full of wonder. Today, he weighs over 140 pounds and has grown into a confident young tiger, proudly showing off his bold stripes and adventurous spirit on Maharajah Jungle Trek. Did You Know? Bakso’s name was inspired by the Indonesian word for “meatball.” Like all big cats, Sumatran tigers are carnivores, and our tigers’ meals are prepared at Disney’s Animal Nutrition Center. Every tiger has their own pattern of stripes – no two tigers look exactly like! Caring for Bakso And while the spotlight is rightfully on the birthday boy enjoying some of his favorite things like ice treats and goat’s milk, this is an impressive achievement for the dozens of Disney animal care experts who have made this milestone possible. Thanks to the expertise and dedication of our skilled veterinarians, nutritionists, animal keepers, and more, this tiger cub has grown healthy and strong. From preparing his meals to personalizing his habitat, Disney cast members have been there every step of the way. One of these cast members is Sarah, an animal keeper who is responsible for the daily care, feeding, enrichment and health monitoring of tigers on Maharajah Jungle Trek. “I’ve always wanted to work with tigers, and it’s a dream to be able to work with a baby tiger like Bakso,” said Sarah. “I’ve learned so much watching him learn, grow, and reach amazing milestones like his first birthday.” And these milestones wouldn’t be possible without animal experts like Michelle, a Behavioral Husbandry Manager, who helps the animal keepers work with Bakso and his mother Sohni – a process that started before he was even born. Michelle’s expertise helps our animal keepers as they teach Bakso to participate in his health checks while building trust and empowering the tiger to take part in his own care. She also helps design elements of his habitat and enrichment activities, tailoring them to stimulate his natural behaviors and challenge his growing mind. By observing Bakso’s reactions and preferences, Michelle learns more about his unique personality full of curiosity and playfulness. “People don’t realize how different every tiger’s personality truly is,” said Michelle. “The best part of my role is getting a front row seat to all of the small moments that shape Bakso’s personality.” Disney’s Commitment to Tiger Conservation This celebration isn’t just about one tiger – it’s about hope for the entire Sumatran tiger species. With fewer than 600 Sumatran tigers in the wild, every birthday is special and serves as a powerful reminder that by providing exceptional care for our animals as well as contributing to conservation efforts in the wild, we can make a difference and ensure a future where tigers continue to thrive. Bakso represents the incredible collaborative efforts between Disney and the Association of Zoos & Aquarium’s Species Survival Plan (SSP), working together to bolster populations of endangered and threatened species in managed care. Outside of Disney’s Animal Kingdom, the Disney Conservation Fund (DCF) is making a powerful difference for wildlife across the globe. As part of our Disney Planet Possible commitment, the DCF has provided more than $4.5M to 15 organizations working with communities to protect tigers and their forest habitats since 1995.  Happy Birthday, Bakso! 7. Anyone who has been to Disney World in the last couple of decades knows how integral MagicBands have become to the resort experience. MagicBand+ The latest iteration, MagicBand+, serves multiple functions, including functioning as a Walt Disney World or Disneyland entry ticket, checking in for Lightning Lanes and connecting with Photopass, and reacting to select Disney theme park attractions with “lighting effects and gesture recognition.” More Special Effects in Attractions and Shows Undoubtedly, one of the coolest features of MagicBand+ is its ability to interact with the parks in new and immersive ways. When it first launched, it would light up and vibrate during nighttime spectaculars, but Disney has been expanding those interactions across the parks. In 2025, you can be sure to expect even more attractions and entertainment offerings to get the MagicBand+ treatment. Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular We’ve already seen it happen with Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, where bounty hunting missions in Batuu are integrated with MagicBand+, and with Happily Ever After, where MagicBand+ syncs up with the fireworks. But Disney isn’t stopping there. Playing Batuu Bounty Hunters in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge As new attractions open, we can basically expect them to have MagicBand+ integration right from the start. Take, for example, Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away, the new nighttime parade at the Magic Kingdom. MagicBands will glow in unison with portions of the new parade, which celebrates Disney’s catalogue of animated films. Disney Starlight Whether it’s subtle vibrations to match the action in a ride or lighting effects that change with the story, your MagicBand+ could soon be making your experience even more immersive. Disney Fans in Their 50s Refuse to Ride These 9 Magic Kingdom Rides Longer Lines Mean More MagicBand+ Scanning With major park areas like DinoLand U.S.A. in Disney’s Animal Kingdom closing for big overhauls and other attractions going down for extended refurbishments, wait times across the parks are expected to grow. That means more guests will be looking for ways to skip the standby lines, and that’s where MagicBand+ comes in. Disney World Lightning Lane Lightning Lane Multi-Pass (LLMP) is becoming a key tool for tackling Disney’s increasingly long lines, and MagicBand+ makes using it even easier. Instead of digging through the app or fumbling with your phone, you can just tap your MagicBand+ at the Lightning Lane entrance and go. Plus, with automatic PhotoPass moments built into some rides, your MagicBand+ ensures those photos get linked to your account without any extra hassle. If you’re planning a trip in 2025, getting comfortable with using MagicBand+ for ride access and photo collection is going to be more important than ever. I Learned a HARD Lesson in Disney World; Pirates of the Caribbean Nearly Cost Me a Virtual Queue Reservation Lockers Are Becoming More Common If you’ve ridden TRON Lightcycle / Run, you know Disney has introduced a locker system with that attraction that requires guests to store their belongings before riding. And while TRON is currently the only ride using this system, that may not be the case for long. As Disney continues to add new attractions with high-speed thrills and unique ride vehicles, we wouldn’t be surprised to see more locker systems appearing in the parks. Lockers at TRON: Lightcycle / Run The good news? Your MagicBand+ makes accessing these lockers a breeze. At TRON, all you have to do is tap your MagicBand+ to open your assigned locker. No need to remember a code or carry a key card. If this system expands to other thrill rides, having a MagicBand+ will make your day much smoother. No one wants to waste time dealing with locker confusion when they could be riding, and MagicBand+ helps streamline the process. Lockers at TRON In 2025, MagicBand+ is shaping up to be a must-have accessory in Disney World. If you weren’t convinced before, now might be the time to give it another look because Disney is only making it more essential as time goes on. 9. Starbucks is set to lay off employees and close certain stores as part of a $1 billion restructuring plan, according to ABC News. Starbucks in Disney Springs CEO Brian Niccol sent a memo to employees on September 25th, advising them of the news. As part of the restructuring, Starbucks will cut 900 employees in non-retail roles across America. The store closures will result in a roughly 1% decline in the total number of Starbucks stores in North America this fiscal year (this also includes some store openings), CEO Brian Niccol said. Starbucks at Disney Springs “While we’re making good progress, there is much more to do to build a better, stronger, and more resilient Starbucks,” Niccol said. After the announcement, Starbucks shares increased slightly in pre-market trading. Starbucks Analysts previously told ABC News that Starbucks had been hit with slow sales — due in part to elevated inflation. The company has experienced six consecutive quarters of declining same-store sales, which measures performance at individual store locations over time. Starbucks has been updating the interior of many of its stores in an attempt to draw more customers and boost sales. Stores where such changes are not achievable will ultimately be closed. “During the review, we identified coffeehouses where we’re unable to create the physical environment our customers and partners expect, or where we don’t see a path to financial performance, and these locations will be closed,” Niccol said. Starbucks The company is anticipating ending fiscal year 2025 with 18,300 stores across the United States and Canada. Employees will be notified this week if their stores are designated for closure, and Starbucks hopes to relocate them to other stores. Otherwise, Niccol said the company will aim to provide “comprehensive severance.” Niccol also added, “Each year, we open and close coffeehouses for a variety of reasons, from financial performance to lease expirations. This is a more significant action that we understand will impact partners and customers. Our coffeehouses are centers of the community, and closing any location is difficult.” It’s unclear if this will impact any stores at Disney World, but we’ll let you know if anything changes. Newly redesigned Starbucks at Disney Springs We’ll be on the lookout for additional updates on these Starbucks layoffs and closures. Deciding between a 1-Day, 1-Park ticket or Park Hopper ticket depends on the attractions and entertainment you want to prioritize, as well as the pace at which you prefer to navigate the parks. 1-Day tickets also have the most choice and flexibility in what you pay, as prices vary by date. 1-Day Park Hopper Ticket A Park Hopper ticket presents the opportunity to experience the greatest hits at both Disneyland and California Adventure. The entrances to both parks are right across from each other, so bouncing between them is a breeze! Between both parks, there are more than 50 attractions and experiences to choose from. Start the day training with legendary Super Heroes at Avengers Campus and racing around Cars Land at California Adventure, before heading over to Disneyland for classic attractions and Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. 1-Day, 1-Park Ticket 1-Day, 1-Park tickets are suitable for a day enjoying more of what one park has to offer, from must-do attractions to atmosphere entertainment. Purchasing Lightning Lane access can be an especially valuable time-saver when you are here for one day and want to prioritize going on rides. Different passes are available for a separate fee to fit more fun in a day: Lightning Lane Single Pass, Lightning Lane Multi Pass, and Lightning Lane Premier Pass. Your party will be separated to fill remaining seats that aren’t occupied by guests utilizing standby lines. Plan ahead by mobile ordering food and beverages from select quick-service restaurants and candy kitchens on the Disneyland app.*** Place orders early in the day so your meal is ready at your preferred dining time. 11. Six Flags has announced upcoming closures of multiple parks, and now Six Flags St. Louis could be in danger, according to local Fox2Now news. ©Six Flags Six Flags and Cedar Fair merged to create Six Flags Entertainment Corporation in 2024, and the company reported a $100 million net loss in its second quarter, along with decreased attendance. Although Six Flags has reported an overall decline in attendance, unofficial tracking methods show that attendance at Six Flags St. Louis is steady. Eureka, Missouri officials, where the theme park is located, stated that Six Flags is investing in repairs, concession upgrades, and new rides in order to keep the park entertaining. ©Six Flags Earlier this year, it was announced that Six Flags America and Hurricane Harbor in Bowie, Maryland, would be closing after the 2025 operating season comes to an end. Six Flags President and CEO Richard A. Zimmerman said, “As part of our comprehensive review of our park portfolio, we have determined that Six Flags America and Hurricane Harbor are not a strategic fit with the company’s long-term growth plan.” ©Six Flags Shortly after, news came that Six Flags’ California’s Great America park would likely be closing as well. The park is located in Santa Clara, California, and its lease is coming to an end on June 30th, 2028. Six Flags Chief Financial Officer Brian Witherow told investors in May that there were no plans to extend the lease. ©Six Flags Six Flags California’s Great America would close in October 2027 after the Halloween season. The park — which spans more than 100 acres — opened in 1976 under the Marriott Corporation as Marriott’s Great America. ©Six Flags In 2024, the park’s parent company, Cedar Fair, merged with Six Flags in a deal worth $8 billion. Two years before that, Cedar Fair sold the 112 acres of land the park sits on for $310 million to Prologis, a real estate and supply chain logistics company. The amusement park company agreed to lease back the land for six to 11 years and announced plans to close the park at the end of the 2028 lease. The company has the option to extend the terms for another five years, but they have yet to do so. ©Six Flags We’ll be on the lookout for additional updates about Six Flags and more theme parks. 13. Your Disney World hotel room may be your home away from home, but you shouldn’t always treat it that way. Art of Animation Yes, you do get to let Mousekeeping keep your space clean while you’re on vacation, so you don’t have to do chores. Food that you don’t have to prepare yourself is usually only a few steps away. And you’re surrounded by all things Disney the entire time you’re there. Plus, you have access to a pool and a lot of fun activities. BUT it’s still not your home, and there are some things you really shouldn’t do at your hotel. Expecting your room to be ready when you arrive We get it. You’ve had a long flight to get to Disney World, and you just want to put your things in your room and either relax, or if you’re like us, GO. However, if you get in relatively early (before lunch), your room will probably not be ready when you arrive. Your room may not be ready when you arrive Rooms are generally ready around 2 or 3 PM (although sometimes they can be ready earlier). The best way to know when your room is ready is to check in to your room via the My Disney Experience app. You’ll then get a notification when your room is ready, and you can just bypass the lobby and head straight to your room and unlock your door with the app or your MagicBand. If you want to do something before your room is ready, drop your bags off with Bell Services. Not using the Southwest luggage perk If you’re flying with Southwest Airlines and are staying at a value resort, you can drop your luggage off at Luggage Assistance at your hotel on your check-out day, and your luggage will be taken to the airport and checked into your flight for you. The luggage assistance desk! Note that this service is only available on Southwest Airlines if you’re flying out of Orlando International Airport. Disney suggests that at the beginning of your stay, you should check in at your value hotel and call or visit Luggage Assistance to take advantage of this service. It is also recommended that you leave your inbound Southwest Airlines tags on your bags. There’s a QR code with more information! Disney suggests that you leave your bags with Luggage Assistance the evening before you leave, but the following are the guidelines: If you are flying before 1 PM: Drop your bags off by 1 AM the night before your flight If you are flying after 1 PM: Drop your bags off at least four hours before departure or no later than 1 PM (whichever comes first) Pool hopping to a hotel you’re not staying at If you’re staying at a value resort and think you can just travel to a deluxe resort and use the pool there, think again. Unless you are explicitly told otherwise (in the case of construction or something like that), you should only use the pools available at your hotel. You can’t swim at Stormalong Bay if you’re not staying at Disney’s Yacht or Beach Club Resorts. This is why you need a keycard or MagicBand to access the pool at hotels. If you want to swim at a certain pool in Disney World during your stay, your best bet is to book the hotel that has access to that pool. Not taking advantage of the water park perk In case you didn’t know, you can get free water park tickets for your party if you’re staying at a Disney World hotel for your check-in day at your Disney World hotel. This is a great way to figure out what to do on that first day in Disney World, especially if you don’t have plans to hit the parks until later. Typhoon Lagoon So be sure to have a swimsuit and water park essentials handy in your bags so you can head to the water parks and have some water park fun for free. That’s exactly the vibe. ©Target It’s lightweight but still warm enough for crisp fall nights, whether you’re sitting on the couch, decorating your porch for trick-or-treaters, or winding down after a long park day. Because it’s made of ultra-soft microfiber, it’s also super easy to wash, so you don’t have to worry if you spill a little apple cider on it. View on SALE Disney x Dash Mickey & Minnie My Mug Ice Cream Maker Bundle ©Target Yes, it’s starting to get chilly out—but Disney adults know ice cream is a year-round mood. The new Disney x Dash Mickey & Minnie My Mug Ice Cream Maker Bundle is basically a dream come true. You just freeze the mugs, add your favorite ingredients, and churn. Then eat it straight out of the mugs while binge-watching The Nightmare Before Christmas. Bonus: it even comes with recipes for classic flavors and dairy-free options. And since everything nests inside the mugs when you’re done, it’s easy to stash away until your next ice cream night. View on SALE Jerry Leigh Unisex Mickey Mouse Fantasia Anniversary T-Shirt ©Target If there’s one thing Disney adults love, it’s a good park outfit. The Jerry Leigh Unisex Mickey Mouse Fantasia Anniversary T-Shirt is basically collector-level fashion. The front features a sketched outline of Mickey that transforms into an embroidered design of him in his sorcerer’s hat. It’s subtle but creative, making it perfect for casual days, park trips, or just showing off your fandom in a not-too-over-the-top way. ©Target The tee is 100% cotton, breathable, and comfortable enough to wear all day. Plus, it celebrates the 85th anniversary of Fantasia, so it’s more than just a shirt—it’s a piece of Disney history you can wear. View on SALE Women’s Nightmare Before Christmas Pajama Set – Purple ©Target Disney adults know that pajamas count as a lifestyle choice, and Target just made spooky season sleepwear a whole lot better. The Women’s Nightmare Before Christmas Pajama Set in purple is comfy, breathable, and covered in Jack Skellington graphics. ©Target These PJs are perfect for lounging during fall movie marathons, but the design is cute enough that you’ll probably find yourself wearing them long after Halloween is over. 16. It seems like every week there’s something new to talk about regarding Southwest Airlines! Flying with Southwest In the month of October, Southwest will be resuming non-stop flights to seven destinations out of Orlando. Who knows, maybe this will make your Disney World vacation a lot easier! Don’t want to go through all of the stress of booking your Disney World trip alone? Reach out to our friends at Small World Vacations! Their experienced agents monitor your reservation for possible future savings, compare discounts and figure out which one works best for your travel party, dates, resort, and touring plans. And, they share expert tips and first-hand advice with you about your magical vacation. Southwest recently announced that it will be continuing nonstop flights to seven destinations out of Orlando Airport (MCO). This is great news for those who may have needed to adjust travel plans when coming to visit Disney World. Southwest at MCO The following destinations will begin nonstop flights out of MCO: Albuquerque, NM – October 4th Cincinnati, OH – October 2nd Detroit, MI – October 2nd El Paso, TX – October 4th Grand Rapids, MI – October 2nd Jackson, MS – October 4th Tulsa, OK – October 2nd Southwest Airlines While we know when these new flights will begin at MCO, Southwest has not yet listed an ending date for these additional routes, so hopefully they’re here to stay for a little bit. If you’re going to be travelling soon and live nearby, or it would make it easier to travel through one of these cities, it may be worth looking into as you plan for that next trip. Traveling soon? Southwest has been making tons of changes this year, one of them being its bag policy. As of May 28th, 2025, free checked bags are no longer included by default. This is a bummer considering free checked bags were a big perk that differentiated Southwest, especially with how expensive checked bags can be. Unless you’re flying under a fare class or status that includes bag benefits, you’ll most likely need to pay. Airport Another big change coming is the elimination of open seating, which will be happening on January 27th, 2026. You’ll be able to select your seat at booking, depending on the fare and status, rather than grabbing whatever’s left when you board. ©Southwest Airlines Another change happening on January 27th, 2026, is that Southwest will require passengers who take up more space than one seat to purchase an additional ticket before the flight. Beforehand, passengers could pay the cost of an extra ticket and receive a refund afterward, or they could request an extra seat at the airport with no extra charge. We’re entering October, so if you have a Disney trip coming up, expect to see more guests as we enter the busy month for Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. Make sure to look ahead at all the party night dates so you plan accordingly. Trick or treat bag For more travel news and updates, make sure to stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog. 18. Disneyland offers a special dining experience that you CAN’T get at any other Disney Park! Truly a blue bayou! It’s tough to find a more notable bucket list Disneyland restaurant than the Blue Bayou Restaurant! This atmospheric dining experience in New Orleans Square sits within the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction near the bayou and boarding area of the ride. This historic and gorgeous restaurant opened in 1967 and now serves as inspiration for many other atmospheric dining experiences that you can find at Disney Parks worldwide. While this iconic restaurant is more divisive these days when it comes to quality and service, one of our most recent reviews tried to settle the debate of whether or not a visit is still worth your time. Atmosphere Blue Bayou is tucked away in New Orleans Square, but once you enter, you know you’re in for something unique and special. The waiting room features upscale bayou architectural theming and a nice getaway from the craziness of Disneyland. Blue Bayou waiting room Once inside the restaurant, you’ll notice there is only one dining room that is ALWAYS dimly lit with a romantic ambiance under the bayou night sky. Blue Bayou Decorated with romantic candles and enhanced with the quiet sounds of the bayou, this restaurant offers outdoor vibes without being outdoors at all! However, there is one level of thrill as you get to watch Pirates of the Caribbean riders sail by as they go from the relaxing bayou to the perilous drops! You can get great views of Pirates of the Caribbean It’s worth noting that while the ambiance can be felt all throughout the dining room, the best views are closer to the water. Otherwise, you might just be staring at other guests and servers. Blue Bayou Additionally, while it presents as intimate, Blue Bayou can feel cramped at times, with tables and chairs placed close together to accommodate as many people as possible. The lighting in this restaurant seems like it could also be a problem since the room is so dim, but the lanterns, table lights, and menu lights typically suffice to provide just enough light while maintaining a romantic feel. Seating All in all, Club 33 is still the pinnacle of ambiance (and food) in New Orleans Square, but Blue Bayou, with its setting within Pirates of the Caribbean, might be the next best thing. Menu The menu at Blue Bayou changes seasonally (and you might not see what we ordered in this review during your next visit), but you can always expect a menu catered towards Cajun cuisine. Blue Bayou menu Blue Bayou serves lunch and dinner and is one of the rare Disneyland restaurants that serves alcohol. You’ll find wine, beer, cocktails, special kid-friendly lemonade, and even juleps. Appetizers can include gumbo, salads, and crab cakes, and entrées can feature market fish, steak, chicken, and pasta dishes. You’ll find plenty of hearty eats as well as cocktails Can’t forget dessert! You’ll often find sweets like crème brûlée, macarons, cheesecake, ice cream, and teas and coffee. Dessert menu Keep in mind that Blue Bayou is considered a Special and Unique Dining experience, so the bill will be on the pricier end. Just something to be aware of before booking advanced dining reservations or joining a waitlist… Eats During this review, we tried the Heirloom Tomato and Watermelon Salad, Pistachio Lemon-Basil Pasta, and Crème Brûlée Tart. Heirloom Tomato and Watermelon Salad The Heirloom Tomato and Watermelon Salad was served with greens, agave crema, pickled watermelon rind, and a shallot vinaigrette for $15. We found it to be incredibly light and refreshing! Everything tasted really fresh, especially the tomatoes and greens. The tomatoes were juicy, sweet, and full of flavor. Our major complaints were that the shallot vinaigrette was too simple in its tangy and vinegary taste, and the watermelon lacked a distinct flavor. We could’ve used more fresh and flavorful watermelon in the salad. Refreshing! If you’re looking for a light and refreshing salad, check this out! It was also the only vegan appetizer on the menu when we visited. If you’re not a fan of tomatoes, we recommend trying something else. Unfortunately, this item isn’t on the menu at this time, but it may come back again! Another veggie option, the Pistachio Lemon-Basil Pasta, will cost you $32 and was the cheapest entrée on the menu. Pistachio Lemon-Basil Pasta Made with asparagus, squash blossoms, pea tendrils, and cherry tomatoes in pistachio-basil pesto, we found this dish simple yet tasty. The pasta was cooked perfectly and had hints of basil and light lemon flavor throughout. The pistachio flavor was also light except for bites that had chopped-up pistachios. The cherry tomatoes added a refreshing and sweet flavor, but we would’ve liked more. This was a surprising winner! Overall, we were fans of this pasta! The portion size was generous, and the pasta itself was the right amount of citrusy in flavor. Simple, tasty, and a safe dish, we would get this again. Of note, this pasta dish is now only made with leeks, spinach, and cherry tomatoes in pistachio-basil pesto. For dessert, we tried the Crème Brûlée Tart in a tart shell for $10. Crème Brûlée Tart The berries were sweet and fresh, complementing the vanilla flavor of the custard well. The crème brûlée had a pleasant and rich vanilla bean flavor, topped with a satisfying caramel and burnt sugar taste. The tart shell tasted like shortbread and had a crumbly shortbread texture. The only downside is that this dessert isn’t really shareable, as it is kind of small. However, since it’s only $10, we really couldn’t complain. DELICIOUS! Crème Brûlée fans HAVE to try this! We think any crème brûlée fan would love it. It’s also a vegan option with a rich vanilla flavor, so if that sounds appetizing to you, give it a try! And that’s everything we ate! Overall, we have plenty of thoughts… OVERALL Blue Bayou remains Disneyland’s most unique (and accessible) dining option. Atmospheric, unique, delicious, and featuring a kind, personable, helpful, and quick waitstaff, this Disneyland restaurant remains worth the visit after all these years. Blue Bayou Our food came out quickly and tasted amazing. The ambiance is one of the best at Disneyland and, despite being one of the price options at the theme park, Blue Bayou is worth dining at at least once, thanks to the experience and food quality. Nosh or Not? Head on down to the Blue Bayou if… You want to get away from the crowds. The Blue Bayou transports diners to the bayou away from the sunny confines of Disneyland. It feels like a getaway and is separate from the park, featuring a high-class meal and a relaxing atmosphere. You want to celebrate a special occasion. Blue Bayou dining feels special with its elevated menu and brilliant theming, so it makes sense to eat here if you want to celebrate someone or something special. Perfect for romantic dates, birthdays, and most special occasions, Blue Bayou offers an experience you can’t get anywhere else at Disneyland. You’re a fan of Disneyland history. Pirates of the Caribbean is quite literally setting sail right next to you, so if you’re a fan of this iconic Disneyland attraction, it’s a ton of fun to get a view of it from the other side. Additionally, Walt Disney worked on the Blue Bayou project! Although he wasn’t alive to see it open in all its glory, he did eat here and put a lot of his own influence into its design. Skip on past this bayou if… You’re on a budget. The Blue Bayou is NOT budget-friendly and will likely be one of the most expensive meals you purchase at Disneyland. The nearby Cafe Orleans offers similar Cajun cuisine for a generally lower price, and there are plenty of other quick-service locations in the area that will offer you a tasty meal for a lot less. You’re in a hurry. Dining at the Blue Bayou will take a chunk out of your day, despite the prompt service. You’ll naturally want to linger and get your money’s worth. If you need a quicker meal, Disneyland has plenty of other options that will save you time. You’re traveling with small children. While the Blue Bayou caters to kids and adults alike, this is still a fine dining experience by Disneyland standards. If you’re looking for a simpler, cheaper menu, Tiana’s Palace and Harbour Galley are both close by. Pirates of the Caribbean Disneyland Have you dined here? 21. Two aircraft came within feet of each other, avoiding a collision on a runway in the south of France on September 21st, in what is being called a “serious incident,” per Aviation Source News. Air travel Nouvelair flight BJ586 from Tunis nearly collided with easyJet flight U24706 after accidentally approaching the wrong runway at the Nice Côte d’Azur airport. The Nouvelair flight was supposed to land on runway 04L instead of where it attempted to land on runway 04R at 11:30 PM on September 21st, apparently due to poor weather conditions. Flightradar24 indicates the airplane was just 50 feet above the easyJet flight before performing a “go-around.” Both planes were Airbus A320s. Two flights nearly collided The aircraft ended up landing safely on runway 04L around 15 minutes later. The easyJet flight was preparing to take off for Nantes when it was instead taxied back to the gate and cancelled “in line with procedures.” EasyJet passengers told Aviation Source News that they heard a “deafening roar” from the engines of the Nouvelair plane during the incident. No injuries were reported from passengers or crew on either aircraft. Be considerate! The Nice Côte d’Azur airport has two parallel runways that are quite close to each other, and the French Bureau d’Enquetes et d’Analyses, or Office of Investigation and Analysis, has confirmed it launched an investigation into the “serious incident.” The French aviation authority said a team of four investigators will investigate on site. Be safe when traveling Thunderstorms were active in the area at the time of the incident, which may have contributed to the error. French transport minister Philippe Tabarot said on X/Twitter, “Yesterday, a significant incident occurred at Nice Côte d’Azur Airport, where a collision involving two aircraft from the companies Nouvelair and easyJet was narrowly avoided. “I immediately requested that an investigation be launched by the Bureau of Investigation and Analysis to shed full light on the precise circumstances of this event.” Orlando International Airport An easyJet spokesperson reported to The Independent that the plane had been waiting on clearance for take-off from air traffic control when the Nouvelair aircraft approached. The airline said: “The safety and wellbeing [sic] of our customers and crew is easyJet’s highest priority, and in line with procedures, we are fully cooperating with the safety investigation that has been launched in order to understand what happened.” Melbourne Orlando International Airport This is certainly not something anyone wants to experience when traveling. Just remember to follow the flight attendant’s instructions if you’re ever in a situation you’re unprepared for when on an airplane — they’re trained to keep you safe! We’ll be on the lookout for additional travel news you need to know about. In the meantime, make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for more!
