  1. Not to alarm you, but there are probably dozens of things that could frighten your kids in Disney World. Cinderella Castle I honestly hope that your child is braver than I was, because I, personally? I was a weenie as a kid. I was scared of fur characters (anyone without a human face). I was scared of roller coasters. I was scared of heights. I was scared of It’s Tough to be a Bug (although that one seems pretty valid, tbh). But above all, I was scared of automatic flushing toilets. In my defense, this was a fear that I had when I was more along the lines of toddler and preschool age, and then as I got into my elementary years, I just found them more startling than scary. But if your kid is nervous about automatic flushing toilets like I was, I have some BAD news for you. They are literally everywhere in Disney World. Galaxy’s Edge Bathrooms In fact, it’s rare to find a bathroom WITHOUT an automatic flushing toilet in Disney World. Maybe it’s a cleanliness thing, maybe it’s for water efficiency, but for whatever reason, Disney has decided that all its toilets need to go off seemingly randomly and as loudly as possible. Sometimes when you’re in the middle of doing your business. And I’ll admit that I’ve been jumpscared a time or two, even as an adult. Bathrooms Now, the good news is that the toilets in the hotel rooms are usually manual flushing, so you’ll likely only face this problem when in the public restrooms. I have occasionally seen manual flushing toilets when visiting restaurants that weren’t Disney-owned or sometimes in bathrooms that were off the beaten path (like tucked away in random corners of some of the hotels). Bathroom at Wilderness Lodge Copper Creek Villas So what do you do if your little one has this fear, just like I did? Well, you’re going to need to add some items to your packing list! Stickers or post-it notes are a common solution. Parents will throw them in the park bag and then cover the sensor for the toilet when they get to the stall. But I’ve also heard that electrical tape works partiularly well. Bathrooms Family restrooms are available next to nearly all the public restrooms in the parks, and they’re very helpful if your child needs assistance or comfort. The Baby Care Centers in each of the parks also typically have toddler-sized potties that make going to the restroom a little bit easier. Tangled Toilets So if you’re heading to Disney World and you’re worried about the potty problem, I recommend taking your children to public restrooms with automatic flushing toilets ahead of time so they know what to expect. And of course, stock your park bag with the necessary supplies to survive! Stay tuned to DFB for more tips for Disney World! Click Here to See Our Favorite Bathrooms in Magic Kingdom! 2. An Epic Universe roller coaster worked properly the day a man was found unresponsive on it and later died, Universal Orlando Resort’s president wrote in a memo obtained by the Orlando Sentinel on Monday. Kevin Rodriguez Zavala, 32, died Wednesday night of “multiple blunt impact injuries” shortly after riding Stardust Racers, according to the Orange County medical examiner. Universal’s internal review found that staff members correctly followed procedures, Karen Irwin, Universal’s president, wrote in a letter to employees addressing Zavala’s death. “Our internal findings to date confirm that the ride systems functioned as intended, equipment was intact at the ride’s start, throughout the duration of the ride and upon the ride vehicle’s return to the station, and our Team Members followed procedures,” she wrote. The attraction will remain closed while the review continues in conjunction with the ride manufacturer, Irwin added. Investigations are also being conducted by the Orange County Sheriff’s Office and the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, the state agency generally responsible for regulating theme park rides. Universal has been “extremely cooperative” and has complied with all required notifications, said Aaron Keller, a spokesman for the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. Orange County Medical Examiner Joshua Stephany determined the death to be accidental. Few other details, though, have been released on what led to the injuries. Shortly after he was found unresponsive Wednesday night, Zavala was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 10:05 p.m., according to an incident report from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office. Kevin Rodriguez Zavala, 32, died from injuries sustained while riding the Stardust Racers thrill ride at Universal Orlando’s new Epic Universe theme park on Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2025. (GoFundMe page) Zavala had a pre-existing spinal injury and took medication, according to the report. His GoFundMe page includes pictures of him using a wheelchair. Irwin’s letter seems to rule out that the ride malfunctioned or that the restraints failed, said Brian Avery, a University of Florida professor and ride-safety expert. “They are saying they basically haven’t found any abnormalities in respect to their investigation,” he said. “I see that kind of statement often.” But the company’s review may focus only on policies and procedures that were in place at the time, rather than a consideration of safeguards that perhaps should have been in place but weren’t, he said. “Clearly something went wrong,” Avery said, adding it could take months or a year or more to see the results of the state’s investigation. Stardust Racers, which opened with the rest of the new theme park in May, is a dual-launch, “dueling” coaster with side-by-side tracks that reaches a top speed of 62 mph and a height of 133 feet, according to Universal. The most prominent feature is the patented “celestial spin,” where the tracks twist around each other in a barrel roll. Riders are restrained only at the lap by a solid bar that lowers from overhead, without any shoulder constraints. Stardust Racers was manufactured by German-based Mack Rides, which said in a company statement that it is cooperating with the investigation. In the letter, Irwin expressed her condolences, writing that “our hearts are with our Guest’s family and loved ones, and with all of you who have been impacted by this tragic loss.” She told employees to be mindful of the ongoing investigation and offered emotional support resources. “Together we will continue to move forward with compassion, care and professionalism,” she wrote. 3. Something new is on the way at Universal Studios in Orlando — but we’re not quite sure what yet. Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit demolition Back in August, Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit closed for good, and we’ve been keeping an eye on the latest construction updates. While Universal hasn’t officially announced what will be taking the place of the former roller coaster, we do know that the entire coaster and related structures are being demolished to make way for the new attraction. Let’s check out the latest updates. Thanks to our friend @bioreconstruct over on X/Twitter, we’ve got an update on the demolition of Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit at Universal Orlando. The ride officially closed on August 18th, 2025, and we’re eager to find out what will take its place. You can check out aerial photos of the demolition below — including the queue and loading area, seen here. The ride featured a second-story loading platform, which has now been demolished. via @bioreconstruct on X/Twitter A good amount of the ride track has already been removed, which you can see in the photo below. Universal quickly got to work on the removal of this ride. via @bioreconstruct on X/Twitter In the photo below, you can see large cranes and equipment that have been brought in to help with the removal of the track and parts of the loading area building. via @bioreconstruct on X/Twitter And, although we don’t know which attraction will be taking Rip Ride Rockit’s place, we can already see excavation work and other development happening in the area. It looks like crews are preparing to lay the groundwork for something large. We’ll have to wait and see what it will end up being, for now! via @bioreconstruct on X/Twitter We can’t wait to see what attraction is ultimately replacing Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit, and we’ll be on the lookout for additional updates. In the meantime, make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for the latest theme park news and more. 4. Arguably, EPCOT has more “what ifs?” than any other Walt Disney World theme park… EPCOT’s Japan Pavilion I’ve been visiting Walt Disney World for over 30 years, and during that time, I’ve developed conflicted feelings about World Showcase. On one hand, I love strolling the back half of EPCOT, exploring all the nooks and crannies of each country, and enjoying their food and drink offerings. However, the area also makes me wistful when considering how stagnant it’s been over its history. Since EPCOT opened in 1982, only two countries have been added to World Showcase – the most recent being Norway almost 40 years ago – and this century has seen one new attraction plus two refurbishment transformations in the last 25 years. That’s not say Imagineers haven’t tried, however, as countless new pavilions, attractions, and rides have been proposed over the years, only to go unbuilt. These are just some of those canceled projects. Let’s begin with the unbuilt pavilions. Since before construction even began on EPCOT, there have been a slew of other countries planned and/or announced for World Showcase, only to never see the light of day. Some of these scrapped nations include: A Costa Rica Pavilion featuring a large greenhouse filled with tropical plants and birds. The Equatorial Africa Pavilion, which would have been built around a 60-foot treehouse and the “Heartbeat of Africa” live show. While this area was heavily promoted during the park’s early years, work paused due to controversies regarding Roots author Alex Haley, who was a consultant on the project. Remnants of this planned area can still be seen in the Outpost between China and Germany, though the construction of Animal Kingdom’s Africa likely means it will never be built. An Iran Pavilion, which would have featured a dark ride exploring different parts of Persian history and a shopping area based on a bazaar. All Plans were scrapped after the Iranian Revolution. An Israel Pavilion was advertised on billboards when Epcot opened, and would have recreated ancient Jerusalem and featuring a courtyard stage and open-air restaurant. The concept was scrapped due to budget problems and security issues, though an Israel-based experience was part of the temporary Millennium Village. A Puerto Rico Pavilion was once planned for EPCOT’s ill-fated “Phase II” expansion. A Soviet Union or Russian-themed pavilion was planned for the projected “Phase II.” It would have been based on the Moscow Kremlin and dominated by a replica of St. Basil’s Cathedral. Plans for this pavilion existed into the 90s, long after the collapse of the Soviet Union. A Spain Pavilion was advertised on billboards in the mid-1980s, with a design blending elements of Barcelona and Madrid. It was planned to feature a boat ride, a film on Spanish history, and a restaurant. A Switzerland Pavilion intended to bring a Matterhorn Bobsleds-style ride to EPCOT was slotted into plans at one point. A United Arab Emirates Pavilion was planned to feature a magic carpet ride attraction and a show detailing the cultural and scientific achievements of the Middle East. A planned Venezuela Pavilion would have replicated a waterfall, a high-rise built into a cliff, and an aerial tram ride. ©Disney Unbuilt countries aren’t the only “what ifs?” in World Showcase history, however. Over the years, there have also been plans for several attractions to be added to the area’s existing pavilions, each of which also went unbuilt. One of the best-known – and most visible – unbuilt attraction plans was for a Rhine River Cruise attraction to anchor the Germany Pavilion. As described in Disney’s 1976 annual report, the then-scheduled-for-opening-day attraction was to be “… a cruise down Germany’s most famous rivers — the Rhine, the Tauber, the Ruhr, and the Isar. Detailed miniatures of famous landmarks will also be seen, including one of the Cologne Cathedral.” ©Disney The attraction was still on schedule to be built as EPCOT was under construction, to the point where the load/unload portion of the ride’s show building, as well an entrance gate to the queue, was built, and is still present today. However, budget issues led to the ride being postponed to EPCOT’s “phase 2” before being canceled entirely On the other side of The American Adventure, several rides have been planned for the Japan Pavilion over the years. These include a roller coaster that would weave in and out of a recreation of Mt. Fuji that would culminate with an encounter with Godzilla, and a bullet train simulator attraction. In addition, a version of the Meet the World animatronic show that was an opening day attraction at Tokyo Disneyland was initially planned for the park, with a show building having been built. Plans were scrapped, allegedly due to issues with the building’s construction, though this may simply be an urban legend. ©Disney Finally, several rides have been proposed for the United Kingdom over the years, including plans in the 1980s to build a full-scale water ride that would feature London landmarks, including the Tower of London, Victoria’s Tower, and the Houses of Parliament. The ride was never built. At the 2019 D23 Expo, Disney had Van Dyke himself announce that a Mary Poppins attraction (later revealed to be an indoor teacup-style attraction) was going to be added to the U.K. Pavilion as part of EPCOT’s then-ongoing reiminagining. However, following the pandemic, the ride was cut for budget reasons. ©Disney Over the years, all of these proposed expansions and attractions were planned or announced for EPCOT’s World Showcase, only to be canceled and forever relegated to being blue sky daydreams. 5. The National Hurricane Center has reported that Hurricane Gabrielle has rapidly intensified into a major hurricane (Category 3 or higher). ©National Hurricane Center Gabrielle is currently about 195 miles southwest of Bermuda, moving north-northwest at 10 miles per hour. Hurricane Gabrielle’s sustained winds have increased to near 120 mph, which officially makes it a Category 3 hurricane. The estimated minimum central pressure of the storm is 957 mb. Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 30 miles from the center, and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 140 miles. ©National Hurricane Center The storm is expected to continue its north-northwest track throughout Monday, followed by an increased northeastward or east-northeastward motion on Tuesday. The center of Hurricane Gabrielle is expected to pass east of Bermuda on Monday night. While the storm could intensify more today, it is expected to begin weakening on Wednesday. ©National Hurricane Center Currently, no coastal watches or warnings are in effect for the U.S. However, those in Bermuda should monitor the progress of the storm as it could bring hazardous surf and rip currents to the beaches. Additionally, parts of North Carolina and the Eastern Coast could see similar impacts. 2024 — Disney World closed due to Hurricane Milton The NHC is also monitoring two other areas of concern in the Atlantic. A tropical wave in the Central Tropical Atlantic is producing limited showers and thunderstorms west-southwest of the Cabo Verde Islands. A tropical depression could form by the middle to latter part of this week while it moves west-northwestward to northwestward across the Central Atlantic. This system has a 20% chance of development over the next 48 hours and a 70% chance of development over the next week. Magic Kingdom entrance the day after Hurricane Milton Additionally, a tropical wave located east of the Lesser Antilles is producing disorganized showers and thunderstorms. The system is expected to slow down and turn northwestward, to the north of Hispaniola. Gusty winds and showers are expected for portions of the Leeward Islands late Monday night and Tuesday. This system has a 10% chance of development over the next 48 hours and a 40% chance of development over the next week. Rainy day at Hollywood Studios ahead of Hurricane Milton We’ll continue to monitor these systems and let you know if they — or any others — are expected to impact your vacation. 6. A while back, we learned that Disney was building a new World of Frozen land similar to the ones in Hong Kong Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea. World of Frozen ©Disney This new World of Frozen land will open in Disneyland Paris along with the rebranding of the park Walt Disney Studios to Disney Adventure Park. The park is being updated to include new themed lands around Adventure Bay, which will act as a “unique entertainment stage with a 360-degree viewing area” with new water-based entertainment. So when can you expect to enjoy the brand-new Frozen attractions? We recently found out! Disney recently hosted the Destination D23 event at Disney World. Here we got a glimpse into the company with new announcements such as new movies. One of the big announcements was a more precise timeline for the opening of the new World of Frozen land at Disneyland Paris and its attractions. World of Frozen ©Disney The new land will feature at least two attractions (Disney may announce more, but for now we know of at least two opening). Frozen Ever After, similar to the current ride in EPCOT, and a meet and greet with Anna and Elsa inside Elsa’s Ice Castle will open along with shopping and dining options. ©Disney Previously, Disney had shared that the new land would open sometime in 2026. But in August 2025, during the Destination D23 event in Disney World, the company shared that it will open specifically in “Spring 2026!” That’s SO soon! ©Disney We’re expecting this new land to be just as immersive and beautiful as the two other variations of it in Hong Kong and Tokyo. Disney has recently shared a video of the ice castle getting built, and it is stunning. It’s looking to be an exciting 2026 for Disneyland Paris and the Walt Disney Company. We can’t wait to experience this new land and updated park! For more Disney news, keep following DFB! 8. I’ve seen A LOT of Loungefly bags in my day. Can you spot Tinker Bell, too? She has to spread her pixie dust on the ride, of course. 9. Construction is well underway for the new Cars-themed area coming to Magic Kingdom, called Piston Peak National Park. Progress is also being made on what will eventually become the Villains Land in Magic Kingdom. Magic Kingdom You can get a great view of the construction progress from the sky, and @bioreconstruct on X recently posted LOTS of photos of Magic Kingdom, so we knew we had to share them with you! The Rivers of America, Tom Sawyer Island, and the Liberty Square Riverboat closed permanently on July 7th, 2025. We have seen the river drained and workers on Tom Sawyer Island. However, getting a peek from above shows us a much better picture of the progress that has been made on Piston Peak National Park. ©bioreconstruct on X While we can still see the buildings on Tom Sawyer Island and the docks that were used for the rafts and riverboat are still there, the river has been completely drained. There is also quite a bit of scaffolding up around the boardwalk in Frontierland. ©bioreconstruct on X From this angle, we can see even more of what used to be the path for the Liberty Square Riverboat. We can still spot some of the old scenes from the riverboat ride as well. Almost all of the water is also drained out from this area. There are still a few patches of water, but it is mostly dry now. ©bioreconstruct on X We can also see a better look at all of the construction walls up in Magic Kingdom, as well as some of the materials being staged for construction. ©bioreconstruct on X Bireconstruct also got some pictures of the area beyond Big Thunder Mountain where the new Villains Land will be built. Disney hasn’t released too many details about the Villains Land, but it is still exciting to see progress being made. Currently, we are mostly just seeing land being cleared and silt being removed. ©bioreconstruct on X The area in the towards the bottom right corner of the photo is likely where the new Villains Land will be built. ©bioreconstruct on X Bioreconstruct also posted some photos of what looks like staging areas near the construction areas for Piston Peak National Park and Villains Land. There is still a long way to go for both of these new areas in Magic Kingdom, but we can’t wait to see them start to take shape. ©bioreconstruct on X Of course, we will be right here providing you updates every step of the way. 10. Anker has recalled additional power banks, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). via U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission The recall was issued because the “lithium-ion battery in the power bank can overheat, posing fire and burn hazards to consumers.” Anker issued the recall on September 18th, 2025, and it impacts about 481,000 units sold within the United States. The recall impacts Anker Power Banks with model numbers A1647, A1652, A1257, A1681, and A1689. We often recommend portable chargers like these for travel and theme parks, especially, so make sure you check yours to see if they are affected. The Consumer Product Safety Commission has received 33 reports of fire and explosion incidents at the time of publication. Four minor burn injuries and one report of substantial property damage have been reported. ©Amazon So, what should you do if you have one of these models? The CPSC says you should immediately stop using the recalled power banks and visit Anker’s Recall Page at https://www.anker.com/rc2506 to verify the product serial number and register for the recall. Consumers with impacted products should contact Anker Innovations Limited to receive a full cash refund or an Anker gift card that can be used on other Anker products. ©Anker Innovations To receive a refund or gift card, consumers must submit a photo of their recalled power bank that shows the model number, serial number, their name, the date of the photograph, and the word “recalled” written on the power bank in permanent marker. It’s essential to note that you should not dispose of the recalled lithium-ion battery or device in the trash, recycling, or in battery recycling boxes. ©Anker These power banks were sold at Best Buy, Target, Amazon, Walmart, AliExpress, eBay, and on TikTok from August 2023 through June 2025 for between $30 and $50. Make sure you check your portable chargers to see if they are impacted by this recall. We’ll be on the lookout for additional recalls you need to know about. Magic Kingdom If you’re planning on coming for the holidays and haven’t booked your ticket yet, you might want to confirm your plans because reservations are starting to fill up, which might leave you outside the castle for New Year’s. These tickets include date-based tickets for 1-day, multi-day, and vacation packages with date-based tickets. New Year’s Eve Magic Kingdom is currently the only one sold out, but EPCOT is also a huge place for New Year’s celebrations! 12. It’s no secret that EPCOT has changed a lot in the past four decades, so guests who haven’t visited Walt Disney World’s second park in a minute may be confused by some of the changes. Spaceship Earth We totally get that, and that’s why we’re here to help! However, we can’t lie to you all — we’ve heard some FUNNY things around EPCOT that have had us laughing. And we don’t judge! We’ve all been here, so we understand, but once you know your way around, you often find these questions a little funny as well. “I Miss That One Restaurant With The Talking Trash Can.” Ah, Electric Umbrella, how your legacy lives on! If you have no idea what we’re talking about, then you maybe never got to experience the iconic talking trash can, which is unfortunate! Electric Umbrella This restaurant was similar to Cosmic Ray’s in Magic Kingdom for the sole reason that it had a very large seating area and offered pretty traditional theme park eats, but the decor was early EPCOT at its finest. It closed on February 15th, 2020, and now in its place stands Connections Eatery and Cafe. And yes, there really was a talking trash can that was beloved by many. “We Should Start in Canada” Listen, we don’t often say that anything is flat out wrong, but many members of our team FIRMLY believe that you should always start in Mexico when drinking around the world. 13. Okay, it’s no secret that the Halloween snacks in Disneyland GO HARD and generally SLAP. Disney puts so much thought into the treats that you can find in the parks and Downtown Disney. We have so much fun trying them all, and we hope it shows! Monster Funnel Cake Now, we’ve already tried many of these treats (and maybe even had a few more than once). But a new treat has entered the chat, and if you love chocolate, start planning a trip to Disneyland NOW. We’re taking on the Monster Funnel Cake at Stage Door Cafe. The Monster Funnel Cake certainly lives up to its monstrous name. It’s a green funnel cake (yep, it’s GREEN) with chocolate sauce, crumbled brownie, peanut butter candy pieces, and whipped cream for $10.29. There’s a lot to unpack with all those ingredients, but let us tell you now…they work! Also, LOOK at those mounds of whipped cream shaped like Mickey. That’s just the literal frosting on top of this cake. Mickey done up in whipped cream The main flavor you’ll get with this baby is the chocolate. First, you’ve got the crumbled brownie with a lighter and sweeter chocolate flavor. Then there’s the sauce with a strong, rich chocolate flavor. Then you get more of that rich chocolate happening throughout the funnel cake as a whole. ALLLLL the chocolate, y’all. Now THAT is a portion The whipped cream is a nice light, refreshing balance to all that chocolate. Plus, you get a bit of peanut butter flavor with the peanut butter candy pieces, which also add a nice crunch. And, of course, chocolate and peanut butter go together SO well. Now, this is a MONSTER of a snack, meaning it’s hefty, so you may want to share, or you could just fill up on it (I mean, I certainly won’t judge someone for having funnel cake for breakfast, lunch, or dinner in Disneyland, having done so myself). Green, but chocolatey So, yeah. We had a BLAST eating this treat in Disneyland — espeically with the fall decorations all around. The vibes were on point. WE KNOW – there are SO many great Disney snacks! How do you choose (we don’t want to choose but will blow our budget on Day 1 otherwise)? We’ve got you covered! We have reviewed nearly EVERY snack available at Disney World, and we’ve written a series of DFB Guides about them! Check out our DFB Guide to Walt Disney World Dining + Snacks Bundle for all the details you need to plan your snackin’ and spending. 15. It’s not uncommon for celebrities to visit Disney World for a fun lil’ trip with their family and friends. Cinderella Castle Just like us, they love the chance to relax, unwind, and soak in the atmosphere and thrills of a Disney vacation. But the difference? They typically have a LOT more free cash to spend on their vacation than we do! So if there are any celebs out there looking for some bougie ideas for how to do their trip RIGHT…we’re here to help. A VIP Tour…Obviously Now, this one might be a given, but obviously, we’re going to start with a VIP tour setup. Many times, if celebrities are coming to the Disney parks, they can get VIP tours arranged with Cast Members ahead of time so that they have a smoother and more secure experience during their visit. Disney’s Hollywood Studios VIP tours come with all kinds of special perks — from complimentary snacks to backstage access to the ability to walk on a bunch of rides and attractions, it’s the ultimate park experience. It’s smooth and relaxing in a way that Disney World hardly ever is when you’re hauling your group from activity to activity on your own. Go HAM on the Dining If you’ve got plenty of money and thus, plenty of time to kill during your trip, we’d recommend going top dollar for your dining experiences. Visit some of the signature restaurants, do as many character meals as you want, and of course, STUFF yourselves with the best of the best theme park snacks. Victoria & Albert’s Of course, if we had the time and budget, we’d be planning trips to visit the likes of Victoria & Albert’s, California Grill, The Hollywood Brown Derby, Jiko, and plenty of Disney World’s other finest dining spots. Eat your heart out! Absolutely Wild Souvenirs Of course, if you’re coming to Disney World, you’ll have to head home with some commemorative souvenirs. The members of our team had a lot to say about this category, noting they’d love to own some of the unique finds from the World Showcase, like the swords in Japan or the jade figurines in China. Swords in Japan However, if you want to go REALLY wild, you’ll need to visit one of the Arribas Bros. stores in Disney World. There, you’ll find some ridiculously expensive keepsakes, including the crystal model of Cinderella Castle that costs a whopping $285K. The Cinderella Castle Suite, Please & Thank You Now, this isn’t exactly something you can throw money at — in reality, you have to either win a contest or be invited to stay there, but we’re dreaming big. The Cinderella Castle Dream Suite is, of course, a DREAM stay for most Disney fans. And it would be pretty epic to spend the night inside Magic Kingdom. Cinderella Castle Suite ©Disney It’s the room to rule all rooms in Disney World, and if there’s anyone who could manage to sneak a peek or stay a night, it would probably be an A-list celeb. (Please take us with you!) ©Disney So that’s our list of must-dos for the rich and famous in Disney World! Alas, us regular folks will just have to do our best to knock these off the bucket list one at a time. Stay tuned to DFB for more Disney World updates. Airport Brian Kelly of The Points Guy says, “Timing is how you save money. It’s not the day you buy your ticket.” You can also use Google Flights to set alerts when prices drop, so you should start looking at flights, but don’t book them quite yet. Orlando International Airport Kelly said, “we are seeing domestic airfare up 6% this year so far — the average domestic ticket during the holidays is over $600 and $1,000 internationally.” ©United Airlines Further on The Points Guy website, Kelly explains that tickets will cost more this year, but we should expect to see a drop in costs in the next few weeks. He also said that if you see a deal, jump on it. Southwest Planes at Orlando International Airport It’s reconmdned to book one to two months ahead of travel and based on previous years, the expected average airfares dropped by $40. They also say the most expensive days to travel are the weekend after Thanksgiving with Saturday costing $709 and Sunday at $829 per average. For Christmas, the most expsnsive days are December 20th with an average price of $861 and December 26th at $834. 17. While we usually keep our eyes focused hard on Disney parks around the world and all the latest news coming out of each one, we also keep an eye on the OTHER theme parks around Orlando, because they often all influence each other! Tron: Ares Overlay This past week especially, Orlando theme parks have dropped some MAJOR ride news — one announcement that will affect your trip right now, and two that may make you BOOK trips in the future to these parks. This is news you WON’T want to miss! If you’re planning a trip to Disney World in the next month or so, you need to know that TRON Lightcycle / Run won’t look the same as it has in the past, because it’s gotten a special overlay to celebrate the upcoming new film in the franchise, TRON: Ares! TRON: Ares overlay! Instead of the iconic blue you normally see under the awning, now it’s been turned a deep red for the overlay! Additionally, the lightcycle wheels are red as well, and the launch area will also turn red to really enhance the experience. TRON Lightcycle / Run Launch Room There’s also NEW music in the attraction, so riding it almost feels like a whole new experience — we highly recommend! Read more about the overlay here! But the REAL news this week came from outside the Disney parks. Dollywood has guests VERY excited with the announcement that their new ride coming to the park in 2026 is the first of its kind — and that’s no exaggeration. Arriving in Spring 2026, NightFlight Expedition is a hybrid coaster and whitewater river ride on a journey “to discover the mystery of the legendary Secret Lake.” ©Dollywood Cora and Jasper Oakley will lead riders on a journey to discover the mystery of the legendary Secret Lake. The ride will feature “remarkable vehicles,” and adventurers can experience four different storylines as they “fly through the Smokies, conquer raging rapids, climb mountain peaks and glide across a shimmering lake.” The four different storylines are Soaring over the Smokies, Climbing a mountainside, Plunging into whitewater rapids, and Navigating a mysterious lake. The ride will be located entirely inside, meaning that it won’t be weather-dependant, and it’ll be a total of 5.5 minutes. ©Dollywood Dollywood is located in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee, so while it’s not IN Orlando, many people who live far from the Southeast United States may choose to travel to Tennessee to visit while they’re on vacation. Or, individuals who are closer to Tennessee than Florida may choose to take a vacation to Dollywood instead of Disney World in 2026, as Disney World will still be in the midst of multiple new additions and ride refurbishments. Read all about this new attraction here! SeaWorld Orlando was quick to follow suit, announcing that they ALSO have a new ride coming in 2026. This new dark ride will take you to dizzying depths underneath the sea, and will be called SEAQuest: Legends of the Deep. This ride will be a state-of-the-art submersible and promises to take riders on “an awe-inspiring voyage into the ocean’s most extraordinary realms” guided by the SEA Collective’s Adventure Team. ©SeaWorld Orlando On this ride, guests will be able to “discover dazzling ecosystems, legendary sea life, and breathtaking stories of resilience and wonder,” and you can check out the trailer for this new attraction below! 18. There are a lot of Halloween events in Orlando, and it can be hard to decide which one is right for your family. We’re throwing another one into the mix that might have to be at the top of your list. LEGOLAND Florida Brick-or-Treat has hit LEGOLAND Florida Resort, and we’re ready to fill up our candy bags, try special treats, and enjoy exclusive seasonal events. Ready to build? The Basics The Halloween party runs on select nights through the season, including: September 20th and 27th October 4th, 5th, 11th, 12th, 18th, 19th, 25th, and 26th November 1st and 2nd For a one-day ticket, which includes admission to LEGOLAND and admission to the Brick-or-Treat event on the specific dates, costs between $54 and $89, depending on the date you choose, per person before taxes and fees. Drone show Characters There were a bunch of different characters to meet, and our favorite was LEGO Wolf Guy! Meeting life-sized LEGO characters always takes us back to our childhood. You can meet other characters like LEGO Square Food (their version of Big Foot), Monster Rocker, LEGO Scarecrow, and LEGO Spider Lady. There are also dance parties like the Zombie Cheer Crew and the V.I.M Dance Party with Lord Vamprye. Wolf Man Rides Some of the rides have Halloween overlays during the events, like the Monster Party Carousel. You can also ride all the other rides normally open at LEGOLAND while you’re there, too! We became obsessed with the Lost Kingdom Adventure, which is a point-and-shoot game. Inside the ride Snacks We had the Franken-Fries at Granny’s Apple Fries for $19.49. These had a chocolate shell topping that was fun to crack open, and the pistachio ice cream tasted homemade and delicious, as they promised. The combination of pistachio, chocolate, fried apple, and cinnamon might be a surprise to be all put together, but it gave a great amount of autumn vibes in the middle of a hot day in Florida. It also comes with a souvenir bowl that we thought was of really nice quality. Franken Fries Then we tried the Candy Corn Cooler for $6.69 at Funnel Cake Factory. We loved the presentation as soon as we saw this! The ice cream came frozen solid, which we really appreciated, and we thought the vanilla was super creamy. It was followed by orange and lemon, which weren’t as good as the vanilla, but an overall enjoyable and unique treat to try. Entertainment The Monster Skytacular Drone Show was so much fun. There were fireworks and drones, and they were integrated together for a seamless show. There were different shapes like LEGO witches and ghosts. Drone show Builds During the event, there were also different LEGO structures, something LEGOLAND is known for, as well as different builds to take part in. One was a Pumpkin Build, where you can add your LEGO pumpkin to the giant pumpkin patch. There was even a Scarecrow Superbrick Build where everyone got to help build a giant LEGO scarecrow. Dance party Overall We thought the Brick-or-Treat event was so much fun and perfect for a family with young kids. LEGOLAND has always felt like a great place for the younger members of the family, where everything is their size, filled with plenty of entertainment without having to go on rides. Even if your kid just wants to build LEGO for the day, you can do that, too! We had fun with the different foods and characters, and the end of a drone show was a real treat. It’s an affordable event that is great for the whole family. We’ve gone to Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, Halloween Horror Nights, and even an all-year-long Halloween event in Las Vegas, but we definitely think this Brick-or-Treat is the most family-friendly. 24. Disney World’s rules and regulations won’t be changing soon, despite a recent judicial ruling in Florida. Magic Kingdom As the national dialogue over gun laws continues, the ban on the open carry of firearms in Florida was overturned, leading to some massive changes statewide. With that said, some exceptions were noted, and Disney World falls into that category. Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier declared that open carry is the “law of the state” after a panel of appellate judges ruled that restrictions on the open carry of firearms in the state are unconstitutional. However, the court did rule that private businesses — like the Walt Disney World Resort — are exempt and can still enforce their own policies. Cinderella Castle As such, Disney has not adjusted its rules, and there is no indication it plans to do so. When responding to the ruling, Disney highlighted that guests “are not permitted to have firearms, ammunition, knives or weapons of any kind at Walt Disney World Resort.” Disney World can be expensive That ban on firearms extends to all four theme parks, the two water parks, Disney Springs, and the Disney hotels. Coronado Springs As always, compliance with the rules is fully expected from all guests. Failure to do so can result in temporary or permanent bans, as well as potential involvement from law enforcement. Spaceship Earth Yes, carrying a gun at Disney World can still lead to legal trouble, despite the lifting of the ban. According to Orange County Sheriff John Mina, “You cannot carry openly or concealed in most government buildings, college campuses, or passenger terminals at airports.” He added that, “private property owners can still prohibit anyone from carrying firearms onto their properties and trespass anyone who violates that rule.” While Mina didn’t mention Disney World by name, he did reference theme parks as part of those private properties. 25. In case you missed it, something NEW just appeared at the EPCOT Food & Wine Festival. Surprise? We LOVE surprises — count us IN! 2025 Festival Favorites Yes, the EPCOT Food and Wine Festival has been going on for about a month now, but a NEW food booth opened on September 21st. It’s called Festival Favorites and it’s bringing back some of OUR personal festival faves, as well as a new (to this location, anyway) snack. So, does this booth still deliver? Let’s find out. Menu The Festival Favorites booth is just what its name suggests: it’s a food booth that has brought back some of the most popular EPCOT festival snacks. You’ll find the booth in CommuniCore Hall. Returning this year is the Kielbasa and Potato Pierogis, as well as the Irish Milk Shake. But a new snack has appeared here this year, too: the Curry-spiced Fried Cheese with mango-curry ketchup (formerly located at the India booth). 2025 Festival Favorites Menu Okay, let’s dive in! Eats As we mentioned, the Kielbasa and Potato Pierogis with caramelized onions and sour cream for $6 are a returning favorite, and we’ve been big fans of this one enough to have tried to make it at home. The inside of the pierogi is nice and fluffy, and the flavors all meld well together. The carmalized onions are sweet and stunning, while the kielbasa adds a nice saltier flavor. We will admit that the texture could be off-putting for some, but overall, it’s a good pierogi. Potato Pierogi We also had to try the new item at this location, coming from the India booth! The Curry-spiced Fried Cheese with mango-curry ketchup is $5.25. It’s fried cheese, so we’re obviously in LOVE with it. It’s like mozzarella sticks, but with an Indian flair. You get four thick sticks with a nice crispy exterior, plus a lovely ketchup sauce that’s a little sweet and a little spicy. Curry-spiced Fried Cheese What we love most about this is that it’s something familiar…but it’s been given a twist from a different culture. That makes it approachable even to pickier eaters. Drinks Two of our favorite festival drinks are also returning this year, including the Frozen S’more, a chocolate milkshake with marshmallow syrup topped with mini marshmallows and a graham cracker crumble for $5.25. We’ve always seen this as a kid-pleasing shake, but it’s really more like a classic chocolate shake than anything. But the marshmallows are a super fun add-on. Frozen S’more Finally, one of our favorite festival drinks, the Irish Milk Shake has returned. It’s made with Guinness Stout, Baileys Original Irish Cream Liqueur, and Vanilla Ice Cream for $13. It also comes in a souvenir cup. This is one of those drinks that gets better with each sip. It’s light and creamy, and that Baileys really comes through, especially at the end of each sip. If you want a boozy drink perfect for a hot day, this is it. Irish Milk Shake So, how does Festival Favorites stack up overall? OVERALL There’s a reason this booth is called Festival FAVORITES because the menu items here are ones that have been popular at multiple EPCOT festivals — and for good reason. Everything here is still solid, and if you’ve got kids, they’ll appreciate the Frozen S’mores while adults can indulge in the Irish Milk Shake. We also think the fried cheese is a good addition to the menu here. Full spread We’re signing off from Festival Favorites for now, but remember, there’s a LOT more where this came from… Click here to see FULL reviews of EVERY. SINGLE.
