  1. Every snack at Magic Kingdom has its fans, but not every treat can be a Dole Whip or a Mickey Pretzel! Mickey Pretzel So we decided to take one for the team and try the three least-ordered snacks in Magic Kingdom. We gave each one a fair chance to prove whether they deserve more love or see if their low sales might be justified. Here’s what we found! Casey’s Corner At Casey’s Corner, the Cast Member shared that the All Beef Hot Dog Chicago-style for $13.49 was the least popular here, so we grabbed it! This all-beef hot dog comes loaded with diced tomatoes, onions, yellow mustard, and that very bright Chicago-style green relish. At first glance, it looks fun and colorful, but it’s definitely a snack that leans on bold flavors. The hot dog itself was your standard Casey’s quality, juicy and well-cooked, but the toppings might be too strong for most palates. The tangy relish and raw onion combo completely dominate the flavor, leaving little room for anything else to shine. Chicago-Style Hot Dog That said, if you love that classic Chicago flavor (think ballpark hot dog meets pickle relish explosion), this might be your go-to. It’s not bad by any means, just not as universally crowd-pleasing as some of the other options on the menu, like the Chipotle Barbecue Dog or the Loaded Fries. We can definitely see why it’s not the most popular order, but diehard relish fans? This one’s for you. Chicago-Style Hot Dog Columbia Harbour House Columbia Harbour House is known for its cozy coastal vibes and seafood classics, so this plant-based roll, The Hearts of Palm and Artichoke Roll for $12.99, stands out on the menu. It’s made with chilled hearts of palm and artichokes, dressed and layered with lettuce and tomato on a toasted roll. While it sounds fresh and light, it has a distinct flavor profile. It’s more of a veggie-forward sandwich than a hearty meal. Columbia Harbour House For guests looking for something cool, crunchy, and vegan-friendly on a hot Florida day, this might be a hidden gem. It’s not as filling or indulgent as the fried shrimp or lobster roll, which might explain its low sales, but it offers a refreshing break from heavier park food. The creamy filling is dill-forward, with tender hearts of palm and artichokes that set it apart from the similar roll at Rosie’s All-American Café. The toasted bun is buttery and crisp on the outside yet soft inside, easily one of the best parts of the dish. Fresh lettuce and tomato add a nice crunch, and guests can choose from sides like fries, rice, or the always-tasty green beans. Hearts of Palm Pecos Bill’s Tall Tale Inn Over at Pecos Bill, we grabbed the Plant-Based Rice Bowl for $12.99. This one was the biggest surprise of the bunch! Featuring Impossible® Meatballs in a mild red chile-tomato sauce, pinto beans, cilantro-lime rice, roasted corn and black bean salsa, and a drizzle of lime “crema,” this plant-based bowl packs a ton of flavor and texture. The rice is zesty, the salsa is bright, and the Impossible meatballs, while not fooling any carnivores, are seasoned well and satisfying. Plant-Based Rice Bowl It’s actually really good! The bowl offers a satisfying balance of spice, creaminess, and freshness. The only real downside? With so many savory meat options at Pecos Bill’s, this one tends to be overlooked. But if you’re looking for a lighter or vegan-friendly meal that still feels hearty, this is a sleeper hit. Honestly, we’d order it again! Dig in Just because something isn’t ordered often doesn’t mean it’s not good. Maybe give something new and unusual a try on your next Disney trip; you might be very pleasantly surprised as a result! 2. One of the best souvenirs Star Wars fans can get in Disney World is a lightsaber from Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. If you’re getting it from Savi’s Workshop, it’s not just a purchase…it’s an EXPERIENCE. Millennium Falcon Nothing beats walking out of the park as a brand-new Jedi, lightsaber in hand. While the experience of getting a new lightsaber is amazing, there are some issues that come up after you purchase it. You don’t know the struggle until you’ve had to carry an unwieldy lightsaber through the park for the rest of the day trying to figure out how to get it on rides. It can also be a hassle carrying it around in the airport (but, at least it qualifies as a carry-on item on the plane). DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. Building a Lightsaber in Galaxy’s Edge will cost you $274.99 per person, which is FAR from being cheap, but it is a whole experience that many people, Star Wars fans or not, will never forget. So the price is one reason building this souvenir is an issue for many, but the real issues come after it’s been built. A Gatherer at the Builders Table If you’ve ever tried to get a Lightsaber home on a plane, it’s a handful for sure, and even if you drove, it can be hard fitting such a large souvenir into your jam-packed car. And if you build it during the day and you plan on exploring the rest of Hollywood Studios after, you’ll need to plan to either drop it off in a locker, the car, or take it back to your hotel, because a lot of rides won’t let you ride with it! Savi’s Workshop But let’s say you’ve built your Lightsaber, you’ve gotten it home safe and sound, but now you come to the NEXT dilemma — where the heck do you put the thing? It looks amazing and super realistic, so you don’t want to tuck it away in a closet, but it also costs too much to play with it too heavily and risk it breaking. The best thing, in our opinion, is to display it! Lightsaber Carrying Cases We have many members of our team who have chosen to display their Lightsaber using the following different holders and displays, and they have all found that this is their preferred “purpose” of the Lightsaber after you’ve built it! Switch out the hilt ©Disney Want to switch out the hilt? Channel your pre-Darth Vader side with the Anakin Skywalker Jedi Apprentice Hilt. You get the hilt and the case with the Jedi symbol on the front. May the Force Be With You. Get the hilt! Get the Legacy Darksaber Set ©Disney You need another lightsaber right? Well, there’s nothing like the legendary Darksaber, and you can grab the set right now that includes the hilt AND the blade. It also comes with its own box and stand Get the Darksaber! If You Want The Galactic Empire Logo ©Amazon If you want your holder to be clearly Star Wars coded, you’ll want to grab the Galactic Empire Lightsaber Wall Mount! This one is affordable and looks great on any wall, especially if you’ve got a room, or part of one, already dedicated to Star Wars. Grab it right now! For One That Blends Right In ©Amazon If you’re looking for something that blends in with the wall a little more, you’ll like the WANLIAN Lightsaber Wall Mount. It’s clear on the bottom and top, so it won’t draw attention to anything but the Lightsaber itself. Add it to your cart! Horizontal It Is! ©Amazon Want your Lightsaber(s) to be displayed horizontally instead of vertically? Don’t worry, the TOPNEW Lightsaber Stand Wall Display has you covered. Buy it here! Balling on A Budget ©Amazon And lastly, if you’re balling on a budget and just need something for the time being, you can grab the Command Broom and Mop Grippers! These may not look the prettiest, but hey, they’ll get the job done and are good in a pinch. Check it out! We’re always here to help you with your Disney World vacations, including suggestions on what to do with your souvenirs when you get home, so stay tuned to DFB! 3. A brand new holiday popcorn bucket is coming to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party! 2024 Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party We’ve already grabbed our tickets and scoped out the merchandise we’ll be picking up for this year’s Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, but up to this point, that’s about all we know to be confirmed for this year’s party. Now, Disney’s giving us even more details about one of the hottest items we spot at the party each year, and this year’s popcorn bucket design looks like a real winner to us! Disney just announced a whole lineup of eats and treats exclusive to one of the hottest parties of the year at Disney World. Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party kicks off the holiday season at Disney World, offering a chance to experience an exclusive stage show with some of our favorite Disney pals, bold fireworks and projection display on Cinderella Castle, snoap falling on Main Street U.S.A., holiday ride overlays, and more! Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party If you’re gearing up for Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party at Magic Kingdom this holiday season and you’re a popcorn-bucket collector (or know someone who is), you’ll want to keep your eye on the new holiday release, the Holiday Christmas Tree Truck popcorn bucket. Let’s take a closer look at what makes it a must-have, and go over how to snag one without losing precious party time! ©Disney This year, instead of the usual Mickey character striking a pose, Disney’s giving us a full-on holiday scene of a popcorn bucket! It’s set in a cheerful red vintage-style truck, decked out with wreaths and holiday accents, with Mickey leaning out the window wearing a Santa hat and scarf, and Goofy in the bed of the truck lugging a decorated Christmas tree. Up on the branches you’ll also spot Chip & Dale hanging on for dear life. While this isn’t the first truck popcorn bucket we’ve seen released from Disney, it is a new look from its design in past years and we’re loving all the details you can spot all over it. ©Disney The tree itself is adorned with multi-colored light-bulb motifs, topped by a star, and the truck’s door features a wreath. The bucket comes with a themed strap featuring Mickey, Goofy, and holiday scenery. It’s almost TOO cute to shovel a whole scoop of popcorn into, but that’s what we’ve come to love about these things! Year after year Disney World’s popcorn bucket designs have been getting better, and they’ve quickly moved up in rank for a souvenir to a staple display for various seasons (especially during the holidays!) Minnie’s Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks We’re just days away from seeing Magic Kingdom decorated for the holidays and enjoying the first Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, where we can get a closer look at this popcorn bucket in person. Stay tuned with us at Disney Food Blog as we bring you along on the first holiday party of the year to see everything there is to see, do, and eat while you’re there. 6. The jack-o’-lanterns are not yet rotting, but we have fresh information about holiday happenings at three Central Florida theme parks. Visitors may see the return of the sea lion show at SeaWorld Orlando, a 360,000-brick Christmas tree at Legoland Florida and a “Coco” character at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. For SeaWorld’s Christmas Celebration, the park is preparing a revival of “Clyde & Seamore’s Countdown to Christmas.” The comic sea lion duo were last seen in a show in the park’s holiday event in 2019. In the past, the production has included cameos by a walrus and a mime, plus some snarky attitude. Stay tuned. The park will offer a reimagined version of Mrs. Claus’ Magic Kitchen, a new Santa experience and refreshed photo ops. Other shows returning this season include “O Wondrous Night,” “Elmo’s Christmas Wish Show,” “Winter Wonderland on Ice,” “Sesame Street Christmas Parade” and “Holiday Reflections: Fireworks Finale.” Additional activities will include the Sea of Trees display on the park lagoon, meet-and-greets for “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” characters and “Sesame Street” folks decked out in holiday attire, a miniature train display and, for an additional fee, ice skating on stage at Bayside Stadium. SeaWorld’s Christmas Celebration is held on select dates between Nov. 7 and Jan. 5. The park incorporates shorter-term celebrations during this period as well, including Hanukkah (Dec. 14-21), Kwanzaa (Dec. 26-Jan.1) and Three Kings (Jan. 2-6). The events are included with regular SeaWorld admission. For more information, go to seaworld.com/orlando. The Holly Hype Dance Party, featuring Lego Reindeer Girl, will be part of the holiday festivities at Legoland Florida. (Courtesy Legoland Florida) In Winter Haven, Legoland Florida will mark the holidays on Saturdays in December as well as during the Dec. 24-30 period. The park leans heavily into Lego-themed decor and characters for the holidays, fronted by its three-story-tall tree of bricks, which will be flanked by a life-size Lego sleigh with reindeer and a giant Lego wreath. Lego characters will be stationed throughout the park, but it should be easy to spot Lego Snowman during the Festival of Flurries dance and sing-along or Lego Reindeer Girl at the Holly Hype Dance Party. Additional activities include sleigh-building competitions and a holiday traditions scavenger hunt in the Duplo Valley section of the park. The holiday details extend down to Miniland USA, which also gets a seasonal makeover. The festivities are included with regular admission on event days. For more information, go to legoland.com/florida. "Disney Holidays in Hollywood" — featuring Kermit and Piggy — is staged during Disney Jollywood Nights, a separately ticketed event at Disney's Hollywood Studios theme park. (Courtesy Olga Thompson/Walt Disney Co.) Disney Jollywood Nights, an after-hours/extra-ticket event at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, returns with 13 event nights between Nov. 8 and Dec. 22. New elements include a character appearance by Miguel (“Coco”) at the Holiday Fiesta en la Calle in the coaster courtyard. Jollywood also features Disney characters, including rarely seen ones such as Stitch in Santa mode, Max Goof as Powerline, Baloo and King Louie from “The Jungle Book” and Bing Bong from “Inside Out.” Two additional debuts will be Chewbacca “celebrating Life Day” and Partysaurus Rex, stationed in Toy Story Land, Disney says. Two non-holiday shows that debuted at the park this year — “Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After” and “The Little Mermaid — A Musical Adventure” — will be available during Jollywood Nights. The event also returns productions such as “Disney Holidays in Hollywood” (featuring Miss Piggy and Kermit the Frog), “What’s This? Tim Burton’s Nightmare Before Christmas Sing-Along,” “Jingle Bell, Jingle Bam” projections and the Twilight Soiree at the Tip Top Club and other musical acts. The “Glisten!” skating show will be staged four times nightly near the Chinese Theater. A holiday menu will appear at Backlot Express, plus holiday items at new locations such as Tune-in Lounge, KRNR Rock Station, and Pretzel Palooza. Ticket prices vary with dates, ranging between $159 and $199 for the night. Official event hours are 7:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m., but ticketholders are allowed entry to the theme park at 5:30 p.m. on event days. For more details, go to disneyworld.com/holidays. New and nibbles • Some Halloween events don’t turn into pumpkins at midnight. Here are some activities that linger into the weekend (and their end dates): Howl-O-Scream at SeaWorld and at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay (Nov. 1), Halloween Spooktacular at SeaWorld (Nov. 2), Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios (Nov. 2), and Brick-or-Treat at Legoland Florida (Nov. 2). • Universal Orlando is selling ticket packages for 2026 that include the power to hop over to Epic Universe during days at Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure. They are available in three-, four- and five-day combos only. The resort had not yet revealed an annual pass plan or add-on that includes Epic, which opened in late May. More information: universalorlando.com • Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex is selling a ticket that allows unlimited daily admission through Dec. 31. The price for the Come Back 2025 ticket, available for purchase through Nov. 16, is $91. Tickets must be purchased in advance either online or via the call center at 855-433-4210. 7. Gather ’round, all you lovers of ghost stories, horror movies, and all things spooky. I’m here to tell you a tale of Disney World’s itty bitty nightmare… What’s going on within these hallowed walls? …THE TINY TRAIN TOWN! This village has been known for its many spooky curses, gruesome murders, and even werewolf infestations in the past. So what does it have in store for us this Halloween? I’m almost frightened to find out! Our first scary story comes from the local cattle farm, where they’ve been battling a mysterious villain for a while now. Last year, there was a series of bovine murders that we investigated, but this year, they’ve been receiving threats of sabotage! The head farmer has recently shown me multiple letters (with words cut from magazines a la serial killer) that state someone’s intention to poison all the cows with Mad Cow Disease. We must protect the cows! Mad cow disease?! By the warehouse construction site, we’ve been seeing some eerie happenings overnight. The mayor’s office has received reports of items vanishing, equipment being moved, and multiple dangerous traps being set for the workers. Last week, a lamppost was partially sawed off and nearly killed a man in the early morning work hours. When we checked the security footage, there was one sign of a culprit…a menacing white streak running across the screen in the background. Running too quickly to be human. Eerie… And speaking of spooky ghost tales, a local man recently shared with some townsfolk that he’d hitched a ride with an older gentleman in his horse-drawn buggy after a car breakdown one evening. The main problem with this? Our town’s only horse-drawn buggy is a statue, an ode to one of the village’s founders who died 150 years ago. Is the townsperson hallucinating? Or are the statues coming alive at night?! We’re concerned! You may recall that I recently cracked down on the town’s pharmacist for running an illegal restaurant. Now, after an outbreak of illness in the town, we’ve tracked everything back to the “burgers” at this restaurant. I can’t prove it yet, but I’m almost certain the meat quality here is questionable. Is this a Sweeney Todd situation? Or simply a case of bad kitchen practices? I’m going to get to the bottom of it. I don’t trust it. Some very sinister and spooky things are happening in the village this Halloween. I’ve got my eye on these villagers, and I’ll be on the lookout for any more nonsense. 13. There are tons of places that people online will say, “You need to go here when you’re in Disney World!” Sometimes, they’re right. Sometimes… they’re not. That being said, you need to try out this spot we’re about to tell you about. Homecomin’ new menu items! Over in Disney Springs, you can find Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’! This table service restaurant has been an obsession of ours for literal years, thanks to its southern comfort food and Florida-inspired cuisine. The restaurant recently debuted some new menu options, so we had to test them out and see if they live up to the restaurant’s stellar reputation! There are very few restaurants where we would say it’s nearly perfect. Homecomin’ is one of the restaurants that we would say is honestly nearly perfect. This restaurant is in the Landing section of Disney Springs. It features traditional seating as well as an open-air patio seating that’s connected to the Shine Bar and Social. Homecomin’ We stopped by for 3 new items at the restaurant, starting with the Bacon-Wrapped Shrimp. It’s tossed in their house-made hot honey and served over lightly dressed greens with a remoulade dipping sauce for $18. The Bacon Wrapped Shrimp! The shrimp are very, very delicious! They’re juicy and thick while not being overcooked or rubbery. They’re also easy to eat, which isn’t always the case with bacon-wrapped food. The bacon has nice crispy bits, but they aren’t overly crunchy. They wrap each piece a few times, so you get a nice amount. The shrimp! The hot honey added a nice sweetness with a subtle kick. The sauce on the side was very creamy and helped to cool down some of the spice. It was very enjoyable, and we think it was a decent size for a shareable option. A look inside the shrimp! We also tried the new Braised Beef Sandwich for $24! It was made with slow-cooked pot roast topped with roasted red peppers, melted Swiss, horseradish cream sauce, and a lightly dressed arugula salad, and served on a fresh Cuban roll. The braised beef sandwich! This was also delicious! We were holding our breath to see how it held up, but it wasn’t an issue! The bread was nice, soft, and super easy to grab while still holding everything in. The braised beef is soft and moist with bits of crispy edges, which we can see people really loving. The layer of cheese pulls with every bite, which worked well with the savory beef. The sauce has a slight sweetness to it, and it was perfectly creamy. A look inside! The cooked peppers were delightful as well! They were soft and added a sharp flavor that helped cut through the pot roast. The argula was a bit of a miss for us, but we do think the crunchy green adds a necessary textural element that we can see people enjoying. This wasn’t too big, making it the perfect lunch portion for us. The perfect size! On the side, we also tried the new Sweet Potato Mash for an $1 upgrade. This side dish was so tasty, it convinced us to love sweet potato mash. It was delicious! It wasn’t a puree, so it has a nice extural element to it. It wasn’t too smooth, but it also wasn’t overly chunky. The brown sugar flavor really came through, but it wasn’t overly sweet when combined with the marshmallows on top. The Sweet Potato Hash! The marshmallows were toasted, which added a nice subtle crunch, and it kept the dish warm overall. It tasted exactly like Thanksgiving! We will admit, the award-winning grits are still our number one favorite side dish, but this one really surprised us in the best way. Have a bite! We love Homecomin’ so much! The environment is fun and lively. The food blows us away every time. The Cast Members are super attentive and kind. We seriously have no notes! There are a few more new menu items in addition to the ones we tried, but these three were serious 10 out of 10s! 15. If you’re going to Disney World without the My Disney Experience app on your phone, you might be sabotaging your vacation! Magic Kingdom The My Disney Experience app is the holy grail of Disney World planning. In the app, you’ll find maps, wait times for attractions, Mobile Ordering for food and beverage, dining reservation availability, character meet times and locations, and SO much more. And before you head to the parks for your next visit, you need to know the details of Disney’s big change to the “My Plans” section! Disney has made a few big changes to the app over the past few years with the addition of the Genie system, followed by Lightning Lanes. Previously, you could view your plans for the day in the “My Day” section near the Tip Board. There, you would see scheduled Lightning Lanes, dining reservations, virtual queues, and other plans. ©Disney But with the most recent app update, this look has changed. Now, the “My Plans” section is in its place. At the top of the screen, you’ll only see dates for which you have scheduled plans. Those dates could include park reservations, dining reservations, Lightning Lanes, and more. By selecting each date individually, you can see all your plans lined up. You’re also given the option at the bottom of the screen to add plans. ©Disney To access this new section, there are two methods. The first is to find the Disney Genie Service box on the home page and then click on “View My Plans.” You could also go to the menu (the three horizontal lines at the bottom right of the screen) and then scroll down until you see the “My Plans” section there. Clicking on either button will take you to the same screen. ©Disney Once you’re on the My Plans page, if you’d like to add to your plans, you can choose from a few different options. You can view wait times and showtimes, book Lightning Lanes, make dining reservations, place a Mobile Order, or join a virtual queue. ©Disney This is definitely going to change the way we use the app going forward! We’ll make sure to keep you in the loop with any more app updates, so keep following along. Stay tuned to DFB for more news from Disney World. 16. Have you ever been personally victimized by a Disney World snack? No? Just us? Alright, well, buckle up, because we’re about to go on a (very short) JOURNEY, people. One of our FAVORITE snacks at Disney World had been the Buffalo Chicken Chips at Trilo-Bites in Animal Kingdom, so when Disney announced that Trilo-Bites would be closing with the rest of DinoLand, we were disappointed. The old version of the Buffalo Chicken Chips But then, Disney announced that these chips would be available at Eight Spoon Café after the closure, so of course, we were thrilled. And THEN, we got some intel that the Buffalo Chicken Chips had CHANGED, and not necessarily for the better. We investigated and found out that, sure enough, the chips were different, and we’re bringing you our full review below. When these chips were still available at Trilo-Bites (RIP), they were described as “seasoned house-made chips topped with pulled buffalo chicken, arugula, crunchy diced celery, diced tomatoes, and lots of bleu cheese dressing.” Here’s what they looked like — delicious, right? The old version of the Buffalo Chicken Chips But, now that these chips are being sold at Eight Spoon Café instead, the description is a little bit different. Now, they’re described as “kettle chips served with buffalo chicken topped with tangy Italian relish and blue cheese,” which sounds not insignificantly different. First, it sounds like these aren’t house-made chips anymore, and the Italian relish sounds different than the regular ol’ lettuce and tomato the old chips had. New Buffalo Chicken Chips We had to order them to see the changes for ourselves, of course, and when we received our order, it was obvious that the Buffalo Chicken Chips had, in fact, changed. These “kettle chips” were no longer house-made like the thicker ones often served around Disney World. Instead, they appeared to basically be Lays Kettle Chips — something we confirmed once we tasted them. The NEW Buffalo Chicken Chips What we loved about the house-made chips is that they had great structural integrity — we didn’t have to worry about them disintegrating beneath the weight of all the toppings. With these new chips, we found them to get a little bit soggy, and we ended up using a fork most of the time. The chicken itself is excellent — it’s tender and tangy with a little bit of a kick from the buffalo sauce, but nothing overwhelmingly spicy. It’s the same chicken that was on the chips previously, and that you can find in other buffalo chicken dishes around Disney World (like the Buffalo Chicken Grilled Cheese at ABC Commissary). NOT house-made chips anymore The blue cheese drizzled on top was pretty standard, and we didn’t notice any changes from the old chips to the new chips. It was a little tangy, but creamy, and paired really well with the buffalo sauce. The Italian relish (which is Disney’s way of saying giardiniera) added some additional spice to the dish, which we enjoyed, but it really gave off a different vibe than the lettuce and tomato. It’s a blend of pickled veggies like celery, carrot, and peppers, and it definitely makes this dish more flavorful overall. Still lots of buffalo chicken Ultimately, though, we miss the simplicity of the old Buffalo Chicken Chips, though we’ll still be keeping the new version on our list of favorite Disney World snacks! We’ll be on the lookout for more snack updates and changes you need to know about at Disney World. 19. We would argue that Animal Kingdom is going through a bit of an identity crisis. It feels like they’re currently going through their middle school closet and throwing out anything that won’t look cool when they hit the high school hallways. Hi Dug! Hi Russell! DinoLand U.S.A., unfortunately, didn’t make the high school cut and will be closing forever in February 2026. Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde are making it into the freshman class because Zootopia: Better Zoogether opens on November 7th. Plus, those adorable animals are setting up a home in the park. To make room for the new wardrobe (by that we mean attractions), some of our favorite friends have moved locations! Dug and Russell from the hit movie Up have found a new home in Animal Kingdom! Their previous meet and greet was located in front of the Tree of Life, right next to the entrance of the new Zootopia show. Dug at the old meet and greet! Now if you want to meet the cuddly pup and Wilderness Explorer, you’re going to need to search a bit! If you’re looking for these friends, it’s not the easiest location to find. They’re still located on Discovery Island, but head to the left of the Tree of Life and stop when you see Creature Comforts and Terra Treats. The path to take to their meet and greet! You’ll walk down the path past the Cotton-Top Tamarins to the back of the Tree of Life! (Even if you aren’t going to meet Dug and Russell, this is an amazing spot for photos with the park icon.) If you’re going closer to their designated time, you can look for Cast Members in green shirts and blue shirts to help you find the right spot. The line! Once we found the spot, we were lucky enough to see our old pals still smiling! In previous years, we’ve seen different characters meet at this spot, but it still hasn’t become much easier to find, especially if you’ve never journeyed back here! There they are! You can see where their new location here on the map below! ©Disney Their previous meet and greet location is surrounded by walls, adding to the large number of construction walls throughout the park. While Disney hasn’t confirmed it, we do speculate that this is where the new Nick Wilde and Judy Hopps might be! Construction walls! Disney hasn’t confirmed where their new location will be, but they did share that it will be near the Tree of Life! They also confirmed the meet and greet will open on November 7th, along with the new attraction. ©Disney We’re excited to see that Russeel and Dug still have a home in Animal Kingdom. Selfishly, we’re hoping Carl comes to visit them for the holidays with his holiday outfit for the upcoming festivities. 20. If you’ve ever planned a trip to Disney World, you know that maximizing your time in the parks can feel like its own strategy game. We want to warn you of this one common mistake guests are making! Magic Kingdom One of the biggest ways to save time is by using Lightning Lanes. This is Disney’s paid system that lets guests skip the regular standby lines for select attractions. The service is split into two types: Lightning Lane Multi Pass, which lets you book several rides at once, and Lightning Lane Single Pass, which covers the most in-demand rides individually. But even seasoned Disney pros often make a crucial mistake when it comes to when they can pre-book their Lightning Lanes. and it could cost them some of the best ride times of the day. The Real Rule: You Can Pre-Select Lightning Lanes Earlier Here’s the real rule most guests miss: You can actually book your Lightning Lane Multi Pass selections earlier than you think, even if you’re not staying at a Disney-owned hotel. Typically, Disney Resort guests can start booking their Lightning Lane selections seven days before their check-in date. Meanwhile, off-property guests can usually start three days before their park visit. But there’s a hidden trick in Disney’s system that allows off-site guests to open their booking window even sooner, and it all comes down to how your park tickets are dated. Peter Pan’s Flight Line How Multi-Day Tickets Unlock the Hack When purchasing multi-day Disney World park tickets, you’re given a flexible range of days to use them rather than being locked into exact dates. For example, if you buy a three-day park ticket, you’ll typically have a five-day window to use those three park days however you choose. That flexibility is where the “early access” trick comes into play. Test Track queue Here’s how it works: Disney calculates your Lightning Lane booking window based on the start date of your ticket’s eligibility, not the specific day you plan to visit. So, if your ticket window begins on a Monday, but you don’t actually plan to enter the parks until Wednesday, your three-day booking window will still open on the Friday before that Monday start date. This means you can pre-select your Lightning Lanes earlier, even as an off-site guest! Hollywood Studios Crowds Why This Matters to You This simple timing trick can give you a huge advantage when trying to lock in high-demand rides like Slinky Dog Dash, Peter Pan’s Flight, or Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure. Off-site guests often find fewer top-tier times available by the time their booking window opens, but using this earlier window gives you a head start, narrowing the gap between you and Disney Resort guests. It’s a subtle difference that can make your park days smoother and far less stressful. Slinky Dog Dash The Takeaway In a world where every minute at Disney counts, understanding how these booking windows work can be a real game-changer. By setting your multi-day ticket start date a day or two before your actual park plans, you’ll unlock early access to Lightning Lane pre-selections with no Disney Resort stay required. It’s one of those insider secrets that can save you precious time (and sanity) in the parks. Animal Kingdom Don’t make the same mistake most guests do! 21. Disney has officially confirmed that the Fantasy in the Sky fireworks show will take place at Magic Kingdom on both December 30th and 31st. Fantasy in the Sky This special fireworks show only takes place two nights a year and is a great way to ring in the New Year at Disney World! While we were expecting Fantasy in the Sky to occur on both nights (as it typically does every year), Disney has officially updated the Magic Kingdom calendar to include the fireworks show and its times. If you’re heading to Magic Kingdom for New Year’s Eve or New Year’s Eve-Eve, here’s what you need to know! Disney has officially confirmed showtimes for the Fantasy in the Sky fireworks at Magic Kingdom on December 30th and 31st! On both nights, the fireworks will take place twice — at both 7:30 PM and 11:50 PM. Note that on these nights, Minnie’s Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks will not be happening. The earlier fireworks show is great for kiddos who might not be able to make it to the official countdown! Fantasy in the Sky EPCOT will also host a special fireworks celebration on December 31st only! Cheers to the New Year: A Sparkling Celebration will take place at 11:54 PM to count down to the new year. Luminous: The Symphony of Us will still happen that night at 6:30 PM. New Year’s Eve 2024 It’s important to note that Park Pass Reservations are currently sold out for certain ticket types at Magic Kingdom on December 31st. This includes: Student group tickets Sport and convention tickets Florida Resident Disney Thrills ticket Disney Military Salute ticket Other tickets not mentioned outside of Annual Passes and date-based tickets Crowds at Magic Kingdom Folks with date-based tickets will still be able to visit Magic Kingdom without a reservation — as long as they get there early! You can also still purchase date-based tickets for the holidays, but again, we expect these to sell out soon as we get closer and closer. These tickets include date-based tickets for 1-day, multi-day, and vacation packages with date-based tickets. While tickets are sold out in Magic Kingdom for the other ticket types, Disney may open more reservations. We recommend keeping an eye on it, and if you see the date open, book it quickly. New Year’s Eve crowds 2024 in EPCOT If you’ve never been to Magic Kingdom or EPCOT on New Year’s Eve, be prepared for LOTS of crowds. These are historically some of the busiest days of the whole year, and the parks have reached capacity in the past. Typically, Magic Kingdom and EPCOT will fill to capacity early in the morning, likely before 10AM, which means if you really want to be there at midnight, you’ll want to get there right away in the morning. If you have a Magic Kingdom reservation, you’ll be able to come and go, but if you’re planning on visiting the parks without a reservation, you can still be turned away. The same is true for the other parks as well. EPCOT on New Year’s Eve Magic Kingdom is currently the only one sold out, but EPCOT is also a huge place for New Year’s celebrations! Many of the countries in the World Showcase celebrate New Year’s during their country’s time zone, which makes it fun to head from country to country to check it all out. Keep in mind that parks CAN reach capacity on busy holidays like Christmas and New Year’s — especially New Year’s Eve, with so many people wanting to ring in the New Year at the Most Magical Place on Earth. If you’re planning on visiting the parks but don’t want to waste a trip only to be turned away at the gates due to the park being at capacity, or if you want to park hop but aren’t sure there is availability at other parks, Disney has a way for you to check before you go! EPCOT New Year’s Eve celebrations The easiest way to check theme park availability is to call the capacity number at (407) 560-5000. This number has been used in the past to notify guests if a theme park is at capacity during major crowd times. We suggest keeping this number handy if you’re heading to the parks during the holidays. Guests visiting Disney World with the Park Hopper ticket option that allows them to visit other parks might want to call the number before hopping to ensure they’ll be able to get into the other park they’re trying to visit. The catch is that these parks CAN hit capacity, and if they do, you won’t be allowed inside. Magic Kingdom Entrance We’ll be on the lookout for additional updates about the holidays at Disney World. 23. There are so many closures hitting Disney World, it’s left us wondering, “What’s even open?” Magic Kingdom Over in Magic Kingdom, several classic buildings were recently demolished, Buzz Lightyear is getting a major makeover, and a huge expansion is in the works. Now, another big change (to us) has hit the park, and we didn’t even know it was coming! Everyone has that one weird little Disney thing that they’re obsessed with, even if it makes no sense to anyone else. One of our weird little things? Our love for the Cool Ship in Tomorrowland! Cool Ship was a misting spaceship that we ran straight to when the heat became unbearable. It was also attached to a small quick-service counter with water, bottled drinks, popcorn, ice cream, and the occasional specialty treat. Cool Ship in 2023 Well, Disney recently broke the news that a brand-new snack stand is headed to Tomorrowland named AstroFizz, and while they haven’t officially confirmed it, we’re pretty sure this is the end of Cool Ship as we know it. The snack stand has been closed for several months, and we even spotted walls around the stand in May 2025. Walls around Cool Ship in May 2025 In early September, the entire structure was gone! Our beloved red ship had flown off to space. Early September 2025 Then by the end of September, a new structure appeared, and we got some great views of it from the PeopleMover. We were hoping that our red ship would return, but it’s not looking good! After Disney announced the new AstroFizz snack stand, we turned to the MyDisneyExperience App and noticed the new stand’s location on the map is the same as Cool Ship’s previous location. Cool Ship with a new look Another reason that we think Cool Ship is gone for good is that the Cool Ship page on the Disney World website has disappeared! When you click on the Cool Ship link for the Disney World website, it takes you straight to the new Astro Fizz page. That really confirms it for us… Cool Ship is gone forever. (Probably.) ©Disney Disney hasn’t shared an opening timeline, but they have given us a glimpse at the menu! You can try Coca-Cola, Fanta Blue Raspberry, or Fanta Orange Frozen Slushies! ©Disney They’re also adding a brand-new Cherry Cola Churro, which will be a churro rolled in cherry sugar, drizzled with Coca-Cola Cherry icing, and topped with cherry popping candies. It also wouldn’t be a Disney snack stand without popcorn, so they confirmed the popcorn will remain! ©Disney It seems like the menu will be limited to popcorn, cotton candy, slushies, and churros. This does feel like just an upgraded version of Cool Ship, but we’re still wondering what’s happened to the misters. While we are so sad to see our beloved Cool Ship fly the nest after 31 years in Tomorrowland, we are excited to see what AstroFizz brings to the table. 25. Universal Orlando is HOT HOT HOT right now. And for once, we’re not talking about the weather! Universal Studios This is the time of year when the parks are HOPPING due to Halloween Horror Nights and the holiday season coming up, but on top of that, they’ve got the excitement of Epic Universe to share with visitors. Fans are coming from all around the world to visit, and Annual Passholders are making good use of their passes (and crossing their fingers that Epic Universe will be included soon!). But now, Universal Orlando has made an interesting change — removing 3-Park Annual Passes from sale and renewal options. A note has been added to Universal Orlando’s website, saying: “Our 3-Park Annual Passes are temporarily unavailable for purchase or renewal.” The note comes listed on the Annual Pass purchase page, just below notes about Volcano Bay’s operations. Universal Orlando Annual Pass The 3-Park Annual Passes include access to Universal Studios Florida, Universal Islands of Adventure, and Volcano Bay. At this time, Epic Universe is not included in any of the Annual Pass options. This change could possibly be due to the fact that Volcano Bay is seasonally closed on select dates between October 2025 and February 2026. Volcano Bay Nights In addition, Volcano Bay will be closed for maintenance beginning October 26th, 2026, with a current planned reopening on or before March 24th, 2027. That means that Passholders paying for access to the park wouldn’t exactly be able to get their full money’s worth in 2026. View from the beach With this change, we’re sure that Annual Passholders and fans are crossing their fingers and hoping for the addition of Epic Universe to Annual Pass access. That could be a good way to bring back the 3-Park Annual Pass in the future, likely with a higher price tag.
