Anyone want to PARTY? Well, this party is actually happening in a place called Zootopia, but we’re tuning in virtually to celebrate. Confused? Don’t worry — we can explain. We’re ready to celebrate Zoogether Day, and the day has finally come: the newest addition to Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Zootopia: Better Zoogether!, is HERE. ©Disney The new attraction has been on our radar since it was first announced in 2023. While we love the movies, we’re eager to see if the new show can live up to the “screaming children” expectations that It’s Tough To Be A Bug set. We had to stop by the park to check out the brand-new attraction, and we’re giving you a FIRST LOOK inside, along with tons of new information. Let’s get straight into it! Plus, there’s a new song that shares the message, “We love what we’ve got! It’s a melting pot!” Characters sing “We are Zoo-nited in every way. Neighbor to Neighbor. Prey and prey.” It’s hard to get it without the music in the background, but trust us, it’s catchy. ©Disney This song is sure to get stuck in our heads. We’re so happy the show is finally here! It’s the first of a few new attractions coming to the park, so the future is exciting for Animal Kingdom. We’re going to see this thing many times, and we think it’s going to be a staple for many years to come. It’s no secret that most of the people visiting EPCOT are tourists. They come from all around the world to experience all that the park has to offer. EPCOT’s World Showcase However, there’s a difference between first-time tourists at EPCOT and those who have visited the park many times and consider themselves self-proclaimed “pros.” Those of us who have been to EPCOT over and over choose to skip several things because we know they aren’t nearly as important as they seem. So if you’re going to EPCOT for the first time, consider skipping these four things! DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. Buying Generic Souvenirs in World Showcase EPCOT is a great place to get Disney World souvenirs. You’ll find a variety of shops with loads of unique and exclusive merchandise, including Creations Shop, Port of Entry, Disney Traders, and all the shops at each World Showcase pavilion. Creations Shop Regardless of whether you’re a first timer or a pro, you’ll probably be buying some cute and fun Disney souvenirs. But here’s what the pros DON’T buy: generic items that you can find anywhere else, but usually on Amazon. When you shop at the World Showcase pavilions, you’ll see some really neat items from that specific country that SEEM unique and exclusive, but they’re really not. Mitsukoshi Sure, you might not find all the items at these stores at many other places in the U.S., but they likely can be found somewhere outside of Disney World and likely for cheaper. For example, the flavored Kit Kats from the Mitsukoshi store at the Japan pavilion can be purchased on Amazon. Matcha and Chocolate Kit Kats can be bought on Amazon! View on Amazon That also goes for the flavored pretzel snack sticks, Pretz. These can also be bought on Amazon! Pretz can be bought on Amazon, too! View on Amazon Everyone LOVES the adorable cat sushi souvenirs at Mitsukoshi, but guess what? Yep, many of them are also on Amazon! Cat Sushi souvenirs are a hit, but you can buy a lot of them on Amazon. View on Amazon And (if you’re catching on to the theme here) the popular, uniquely flavored Lay’s Potato Chips at the China pavilion are, you guessed it, on Amazon! You can get Lay’s like these on Amazon! View on Amazon This theme goes for almost every generic cultural souvenir in World Showcase. I once saw the gorgeous Norwegian sweaters in the Norway pavilion, but was able to buy one online for half the price. So if you’re going to buy a souvenir in EPCOT, we suggest grabbing something that can be personalized, is unique to Disney World, or is special in some way to you. Eating Classic Theme Park Snacks EPCOT is full of culture, special experiences, and learning. You can visit World Discovery, World Showcase, World Nature, and World Celebration, and find something new and exciting in each one. World Celebration Gardens With all of these special spots and all 11 country pavilions in World Showcase, eating standard theme park food is never on a pro’s to-do list in EPCOT. We skip the popcorn, the Mickey pretzels, and the Mickey ice cream. Instead, we opt for specialty sandwiches and pastries at Les Halles, tasty Mexican eats at La Cantina de San Angel, and delicious sushi at Shiki-Sai. Les Halles Boulangerie Patisserie Seriously, there are so many great exclusive dining and snack options in EPCOT, you really don’t need anything you could get elsewhere (unless you’re just REALLY craving some Disney popcorn, which we totally understand). Booking Dining Reservations During a Festival Yes, there are several good options for dining at EPCOT, such as Space 220, San Angel Inn Restaurante, Monsieur Paul, and Rose & Crown Pub & Dining Room. And normally, we would suggest trying one of these spots; however, we actually recommend skipping them if there happens to be an EPCOT festival underway. 2025 EPCOT Food and Wine Festival The EPCOT Food and Wine Festival, Festival of the Holidays, Flower and Garden Festival, and Festival of the Arts all offer food booths all around the park that are both tasty and fun to try. So if you’re visiting during one of these festivals, skip a reservation and eat at the booths! (And follow along with DFB for all the coverage of every one of these festivals.) EVERYTHING You Need To Eat and Drink at the 2025 EPCOT Food and Wine Festival Rope Dropping Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is truly one of the best rides at Disney World. This backwards launch roller coaster is exhilarating and so much fun. Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind You can ride it in one of two ways: by standing in the standby queue or by purchasing a Lightning Lane Single Pass. Some people may choose to rope drop this ride (go to your very first ride right when the park opens), but pros know to buy that Lightning Lane instead! It’s generally a better plan to rope drop Frozen Ever After, Test Track, or Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, since these are Lightning Lane Multi Pass rides and their Lightning Lanes usually sell out faster than Cosmic Rewind. Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind When it comes to booking Frozen Ever After, Test Track, and Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure Lightning Lanes, you can only book one of them in advance. So if you’re going to use Multi Pass, you’ll want to book one of these, then plan to rope drop one of the others. You can then get the last of these three rides’ Lightning Lane once you’re in the park and have used your first Lightning Lane. With this game plan, buying the Lightning Lane Single Pass for Cosmic Rewind makes the most sense, instead of rope dropping it. Cosmic Rewind entrance These are four things we prefer NOT to do when we’re visiting EPCOT. We’ve been there MANY times, and we’ve found that there are other, potentially better ways to have a great day at the park. But if these things are important to you, there’s definitely no right or wrong way to enjoy your time. We hope you have a great trip, however you choose to! For more Disney news, keep following DFB! Something NEW is arriving at Disney’s Animal Kingdom in just ONE week! Recently, it has felt like closure after closure at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. There have been many closures to prepare for the new land, Pueblo Esperanza, a Tropical Americas-themed land coming to Animal Kingdom in 2027. Additionally, Kali River Rapids and Harambe Market are both temporarily closed for refurbishment. ©Disney This time around, though, something is OPENING! It is not technically a new location, but it is a brand-new show at a previously inhabited location. Zootopia: Better Zoogether! opens in just a week, on November 7th, 2025, and we can’t wait. This new show is taking the place of It’s Tough to Be a Bug, with a fresh new look and a whole new story. Whether you are a fan of Zootopia or are just looking for somewhere to sit for a bit, we are happy to welcome this new addition to Animal Kingdom. Ahead of the grand opening on November 7th, the show will be welcoming Cast Members, Annual Passholders, and Disney Vacation Club members for a preview. Disney also just shared a FIRST LOOK at the new show, including the brand-new entrance sign. This show will be presented in Carrot Vision 3D, so don’t forget to grab your glasses before you head in! The show will be 4D, so you will also experience other effects, but Disney has confirmed that nothing will be poking you in the back during this show. It also looks like the queue has some new items to peruse while you wait to grab your seat. ©Disney We also got a quick peek into a portion of the show. ©Disney Not only that, but we also got a look at the new Benjamin Clawhauser animatronic that will be in the show. ©Disney Zootopia: Better Zoogether! will be “a celebration of unity amongst the diverse biomes across the city, and will be recognized with special performances such as ice-skating spectaculars from the heart of Tundratown! Synchronized swimming direct from Marsh Market! Tiny mouse drone shows soaring over Little Rodentia! And of course, a musical finale by superstar Gazelle – all of which we’ll see from the livestream watch party.” “Zootopia: Better Zoogether!” ©Disney We are fortunate to have the chance to preview this show soon, and, of course, we will be sharing all our thoughts. So make sure to stay tuned to DFB for even more coverage of this brand-new show! The new Zootopia: Better Zoogether! show isn’t the only thing coming to Animal Kingdom on November 7th. Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde will also be coming to Animal Kingdom to meet guests at Discovery Island near the Tree of Life at the Zoogether Day Gathering Spot. ©Disney Plus, exclusive merchandise will be available to celebrate the new show! Disney has shared a peek at a variety of merchandise including shirts, a backpack, a water bottle, pins, and more. ©Disney Stay tuned to DFB for all your Disney World news! So you’re planning a Disney vacation — the kind that requires strategy, hydration, and a surprising amount of spreadsheet work. Between park tickets, Mickey waffles, and that inevitable $40 popcorn bucket, your wallet deserves a little magic, too. Disney Visa Card Enter two contenders: the Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card and the Disney Premier Visa® Card. Both promise rewards, perks, and a touch of sparkle — but only one delivers the kind of value that makes a Disney trip feel slightly less like a financial endurance test. Let’s compare the two and see which one earns a Lightning Lane to your next getaway. Card details Capital One Venture Rewards Disney Premier Visa Welcome offer Earn 75,000 bonus miles after spending $4,000 on purchases within the first three months of account opening. Earn a $400 statement credit after spending $1,000 on purchases in the first three months from account opening. Earning rates 5 Capital One miles per dollar on hotels and rental cars booked through Capital One Travel 2 miles per dollar on all other purchases 5% in Disney Rewards Dollars on card purchases made directly at DisneyPlus.com, Hulu.com, or ESPNPlus.com 2% in Disney Rewards Dollars on spending for gas stations, grocery stores, restaurants, and most Disney locations 1% on everything else Annual fee $95 $49 Foreign transaction fees None 3% Other benefits Master RoadAssist (fees apply) Extended warranty Purchase assurance Global Entry/TSA PreCheck application fee credit (up to $120) Discounts on select merchandise and dining purchases at DisneyStore.com and Disney retail stores Discounts at Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resort Access to Disney and Star Wars Character Experiences at exclusive cardmember locations Special discounts on Disney cruises Welcome Offers: The Opening Number Capital One Venture RewardsNew cardholders can earn 75,000 bonus miles after spending $4,000 in the first three months. That’s $750 toward travel, or up to $1,388 in value if you transfer through Capital One’s airline and hotel partners. That’s enough to fund your flight and a few strategically timed Dole Whip breaks. Cast Members are the magic! Disney Premier VisaEarn a $400 statement credit after spending $1,000 in the first three months. Not bad, but it’s more “one night at the Polynesian” than “whole vacation paid for.” Winner: Capital One Venture Rewards. More miles, more flexibility, more bang for your churro buck. Benefits: The Fine Print Behind the Fireworks Capital One Venture Rewards offers the standard travel benefits: trip insurance, concierge service, and a Global Entry/TSA PreCheck credit (up to $120). No foreign transaction fees, either — a win if your park-hopping plans include Disneyland Paris. Cheers to fireworks! Disney Premier Visa stays on brand with exclusive park events, 10% discounts on select Disney dining and shopping, and special vacation financing. All useful… if your life revolves around a pair of mouse ears. Winner: Disney Premier Visa. It’s niche, but if your happy place involves castle selfies and churro carts, it hits the mark. Earning Rewards: Everyday Magic (and Math) Capital One Venture Rewards: The Capital One Venture Rewards card earns 5 miles per dollar on hotels and rental cars booked through Capital One Travel, and 2 miles per dollar on all other purchases. Sure, it’s not the absolute top of the travel-rewards food chain—but for a card with a $95 annual fee, those are solid, easy-to-track earnings that don’t require a spreadsheet or a PhD in bonus categories. Disney Premier Visa: With the Disney Premier Visa, you’ll earn 5% back on purchases made directly through DisneyPlus.com, Hulu.com, or ESPNPlus.com—so your streaming habit officially counts as a financial strategy. You’ll get 2% back at gas stations, grocery stores, restaurants, and most Disney locations, and 1% back on everything else. Rewards come in the form of Disney Rewards Dollars, which you can spend on all things Mickey—from churros to cruise lines. ©Disney Winner: Capital One Venture Rewards. Simpler, stronger, and no need to remember which category your Starbucks run falls into. Redeeming Rewards: Freedom vs. Mouse Ears With Capital One Venture Rewards, redemption options are wide open — use miles for travel purchases, transfer to partners, or even cash out (though you’ll get the best value through travel). Minnie and Pluto as part of Disney Visa Card Members Exclusive meet & greet The Disney Premier Visa keeps it simple: rewards are converted into Disney Rewards Dollars, which are usable at Disney parks, resorts, and stores. Easy, yes. Flexible? Not so much. Winner: Capital One Venture Rewards. Because “flexibility” means you can fund your flight, your hotel, and your post-vacation therapy bill. Transfer Partners: One Has Them. One Doesn’t. Capital One Venture Rewards: 15+ airline and hotel partners, including Air Canada, Singapore Airlines, and Choice Privileges.Disney Premier Visa: No transfer options — unless you count transferring your balance after realizing how limited the options are. ©Air Canada Winner: Venture Rewards. No contest. Final Verdict: The Real MVP If you’re a casual Disney fan or you travel anywhere beyond the parks, the Capital One Venture Rewards is your clear winner. It offers better earning rates, more redemption flexibility, and a welcome bonus that actually moves the needle. ©Capital One But if you’re a ride-or-die Disney loyalist who spends half the year planning your next trip and the other half talking about the last one, the Disney Premier Visa can still earn its spot — especially for the in-park discounts. Bottom Line: Venture Rewards = Maximum value and freedom. Disney Premier Visa = All Disney, all the time. Or, if you’re truly committed to the cause, get both. One funds your flights; the other funds your Mickey-shaped snacks. Learn more: Capital One Venture Rewards Learn more: Disney Premier Visa Which would you choose? You might want to take a closer look at your MagicBand+ the next time you visit Disney World. MagicBand+ Disney just rolled out a few new features that make your park experience even more interactive—and a whole lot more magical. If you thought this little piece of tech couldn’t get any cooler, wait until you see how it now connects with some of Disney World’s newest shows and nighttime entertainment. Here’s everything you need to know about the latest MagicBand+ upgrades you can experience right now in 2025. What’s MagicBand+ Again? If you’re not familiar, a MagicBand or MagicBand+ is a wearable piece of tech that does a LOT for you in Disney World. It can act as your park ticket, hotel room key, and even a way to make purchases. ©Disney MagicBand+ takes things up a notch. This upgraded version reacts to your surroundings with flashing lights and haptic vibrations, syncing up with fireworks, shows, and attractions across the parks. Your MagicBand+ will also unlock effects around the park! We’ve already seen MagicBand+ interact with rides like Haunted Mansion, TRON Lightcycle / Run, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, and Avatar Flight of Passage, plus shows like Festival of the Lion King and Fantasmic!. Now, Disney has expanded those features even further for 2025, introducing new interactive elements across three major entertainment experiences. 1. Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After Fans of Disney’s darker side — this one’s for you! MagicBand+ now reacts during Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After, the all-new stage show that celebrates some of Disney’s most infamous baddies. When you attend this show, you’ll notice your MagicBand+ pulsing and lighting up in sync with the action on stage. Unfairly Ever After From flashes of color and subtle vibrations during intense moments, your band becomes part of the performance. It’s a small detail, but it helps pull you even deeper into the story. So while you’re watching Maleficent and Hades take the spotlight, your MagicBand+ will make you feel like you’re part of their villainous world, too. 2. The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure MagicBand+ is also diving under the sea for The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure, one of Disney World’s newest stage productions. As you experience Ariel’s story unfold, your MagicBand+ will respond with colors and vibrations that sync with the show’s big musical moments. The Little Mermaid Picture this: During the show, your MagicBand+ flashes in colors that match the rhythm of the music, and gives feel gentle haptic feedback that makes key moments even more emotional. It’s one of those “you have to see it to believe it” touches that Disney does best — immersing you in the magic without you even realizing it’s happening. 3. Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away The third new feature has us glowing — literally! The Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away nighttime parade now features MagicBand+ interaction. As the floats glide down Main Street, U.S.A., your MagicBand+ lights up in sync with the parade’s music and effects. Encanto float in Disney Starlight If you’ve experienced how your MagicBand+ lights up during fireworks shows like Happily Ever After or Fantasmic!, you’ll love this new addition. Why It’s Worth Getting Excited About Disney has always been about creating connections between guests and stories, and these new MagicBand+ updates continue that trend in a big way. It’s no longer just a park accessory — it’s a storytelling tool. The bands add an extra layer of interaction to your visit that feels surprisingly personal, even though everyone’s experiencing it together. Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular If you’re heading to Disney World soon, make sure your MagicBand+ is charged up before you go so you don’t miss these new effects. You’ll still be able to use it for park entry, hotel access, and purchases without power, but you’ll need that battery to unlock all the new lighting and vibration features. And trust us — you don’t want to miss those moments when your band syncs perfectly with the show you’re watching. Frozen Sing Along MagicBand+ keeps evolving, and these 2025 updates prove that Disney’s not done finding ways to make your trip more magical and immersive. Whether you’re cheering on the villains, singing along with Ariel, or glowing with the crowd during Disney Starlight, your MagicBand+ will make you feel just a little closer to the magic happening all around you. In the meantime, we’ll be on the lookout for the latest news and updates from Disney World, so make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for more! Macy’s has just debuted a whole line of Thanksgiving Day Parade Disney merch, and we got our hands on some of the exclusives you’ll find in the new collection! Macy’s NYC Disney collection Their brand-new NYC Disney collection has arrived, and it’s packed with pieces that celebrate everything we love about Disney — from classic character designs to stylish, everyday essentials that still feel a little like park-day fashion. Whether you’re a lifelong Disney fan or just love a good dose of nostalgia, this collection is pure happiness wrapped in a bow. DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. What makes this Macy’s drop extra special is how seamlessly it blends timeless Disney charm with on-trend style. You’ll find cozy sweatshirts, tees, and accessories featuring the characters we know and love, like Mickey, Minnie, and the rest of the gang, all reimagined with that modern Macy’s touch. It’s the kind of collection that feels equally at home in the parks or on your next casual weekend outing. A “mini” Minnie balloon! It’s always a good shopping day when Disney fun meets wearable style. From bold graphic prints to subtle nods only true fans will catch, every detail feels intentional in this new Macy’s NYC Disney line — the perfect mix of nostalgic and new. Whether you’re shopping for yourself or someone else, this collection has something to make every Disney heart happy. Accessories We recently had a chance to snag a few of our favorite finds from the collection, and let’s just say they all will DEFINITELY be finding a home in our own closets soon. Get the Macy’s Mickey & Minnie Mouse Ears Headband! Macy’s Mickey & Minnie Loungefly ears These ears are perfect for Loungefly wearers, anyone interested in adding more Disney to their style, anyone visiting Disney’s parks, and those celebrating Minnie’s debut in Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade this year. And honestly, they’re totally worth the money you’ll spend on them! Each ear is made like Minnie… Minnie! …or Mickey Mouse… Mickey! …and one side of the ear headband bears the Disney Loungefly logo in embroidery. It’s also got a soft red velvet inside that’s much softer than some Minnie ear headbands you’ll find around the parks. Loungefly embroidered side What we really love about it, though, is that the design is simple, classic, yet effective. It doesn’t need a lot of frills to make it pop, and the material used for each of the characters is shiny, making it look like the faces you’d find among Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade balloons (and they’re repeated on the back side, which means you’ll never have to worry about putting them on backwards). And if we’re being brutally honest, that soft velvet that lines the inside of the headband is one of the softest we’ve ever tested! View on Amazon This Macy’s Mickey & Minnie Heart-Shaped Crossbody Handbag is gorgeous! Mickey & Minnie Heart-shaped Loungefly Crossbody Handbag This bag is an ideal gift for Loungefly wearers (especially if you’re into some of the more unique bag designs than a standard mini backpack), and anyone who really likes a retro look to Mickey and Minnie. What’s not to love about this handbag?! It’s shaped like a heart with a top handle for keeping close to you… Top handle …or can be worn with a detachable strap across your body or draped off your shoulder. Use with the crossbody strap The front design has an adorable blue ribbon tied in the top corner as well as a dapper-looking Mickey and Minnie against a white background layered on top of a red heart. The top has two clasps to be undone like a briefcase to reveal the heart can be split in half for your belongings. Inside the handbag There’s also a zippered pocket on the inside, and the handbag makes for its own carrying case, as you can tuck the removable strap into it when you’re not using it. The back design also features the same white background, but also has an old school Hollywood font of “MM” in blue, like the front ribbon and the iconic Disney Loungefly enamel label. The back design But what we love most about this handbag is that it’s decked out in a Loungefly design we’ve not seen done a million times over. It’s effective without being over the top, and it’s got such versatility to it for different wearing patterns, ways to dress it up, or show off as your featured accessory against either a muted or attention-grabbing outfit. While the bag itself was hard as a rock to the outside, it wasn’t super heavy to carry around, and we didn’t worry about potentially breaking a nail every time we went to pull open its clasps at the top. View on Amazon We love this Macy’s Exclusive Minnie Mouse Parade Balloon Graphic Shirt! Front design of the shirt This shirt is going to make any Disney adult, teen, or tween in your life who loves Minnie Mouse squeal with excitement when they see it! The shirt’s simple front design features “Minnie Mouse” on the front pocket area as a logo… Minnie Parade Shirt …and the back design is Minnie’s new Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade float in color, with figures keeping her balloon from flying away. And the back of the shirt was the perfect placement to feature Minnie’s new parade balloon in its full cartoon form. It’s a super cute top, breathable, and conforms to your body. The front and back design are so well done, and we loved the animation style Macy’s chose for a seamless feel to the design. However, we will caution that the sizing runs small for this shirt, so maybe play it safe and order a size or two larger than you typically would if you’re not looking for a snug fit. Ugh, we hate it when a rumor comes true. ©Disney We’ve been hearing for months that Doctor Who might stop working with Disney+, and Deadline reports it’s now official. Disney+ will no longer be involved with Doctor Who. Disney+ initially partnered with BBC Plus on two seasons, plus an upcoming spin-off called The War Between the Land and the Sea. ©Disney BBC confirmed that the show will continue and return with a Christmas special in 2026, written by Russell T. Davies. More information will be released in the future. ©Disney Lindsay Salt, BBC drama director, thanks Disney for “being terrific global partners and collaborators over the past two seasons, and for the upcoming The Water Between the Land and the Sea.” ©Disney “The BBC remains fully committed to Doctor Who, which continues to be one of our most loved ramamas, and we are delighted that Russell T. Davies has agreed to write us another spectacular Christmas special for 2026. We can assure fans, the Doctor is not going anywhere and we will be announcing plans for the next series in due course, which will ensure that TARDIS remains at the heart of the BBC.” ©Disney Danies regenerated Doctor Who with lots of big stars and storylines, but it hasn’t quite performed as well as the BBC hoped. It didn’t seem very successful for either the BBC or Disney+. While it’s a bummer that Disney+ will no longer be involved, we’re glad that Doctor Who isn’t going away and that the BBC will continue to run the show. Make sure you keep following DFB for more. If you’ve visited Disney World, there’s no doubt you’re probably familiar with Orlando International Airport. That’s the airport that a majority of Disney World visitors fly into, after all. Well, big changes are coming to the airport (y’all, we’re excited about the new restaurants!), but the airport also just did something HISTORIC. Orlando International Airport Orlando International Airport recently announced that it will be the first airport in the state of Florida to offer air service to Asia via Zipair Tokyo. That’s right. For the first time in the airport’s history, Orlando International Airport will offer nonstop passenger charter service to Tokyo via ZipAir Tokyo from February 23rd, 2026 to March 10th, 2026. So maybe Tokyo Disneyland Resort is calling! These flights also mark the first nonstop connection between Florida and the Asia Pacific region, so it’s pretty big deal! ©ZipAir Tokyo According to The Orlando Business Journal, these flights could result in more than $85 million in local annual economic revenue. If this encourages other carriers to follow suit, that number could go up drastically. “Our partnership with ZIPAIR is more than just a new route. It’s history,” said Lance Lyttle, Chief Executive Officer for the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority, which operates Orlando International Airport. “This will be the first-ever nonstop passenger flight between Asia Pacific and the state of Florida. The partnership is a testament to the economic strength we share between our communities. We look forward to welcoming ZIPAIR passengers with the warmth and hospitality that both our nations cherish.” MCO Airport The announcement of the new flights has also generated support throughout the Central Florida region as it’s expected to boost tourism to the area. It’s no secret that Walt Disney World has a litany of culinary options. From table service restaurants to quick service outposts, there’s something to eat for everyone at the “Most Magical Place on Earth.” Who’s hungry? Over my 30+ years visiting Walt Disney World, I’ve eaten at many of the restaurants across the property’s theme parks and hotels. One thing I, and all of the members of our team, have learned: Not all Walt Disney World restaurants are created equal, no matter how well-known they are. Take, for example, Chef Mickey’s. This buffet restaurant, located quite literally in the middle of the Contemporary Resort’s Grand Canyon Concourse, is one of Disney World’s most well-known, especially thanks to its character breakfast, which features the company’s most iconic characters: The Fab Five of Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, and Pluto in chef outfits. We love Pluto! However, in our experience, the restaurant’s food can be… less than ideal. First up, the restaurant is expensive for a breakfast buffet offering, costing $59 for adults, while children ages 3-9 cost $38, and in our experience, the food once again didn’t justify it. For example, we had a steak and egg scramble where the former was tough to chew, while the latter were bland and didn’t add much flavor to help out the rest of the plate. Our full plate — is this worth the hefty cost? Meanwhile, the Turtle French Toast (French toast with a few crushed nuts and chocolate sauce to throw on it to consider it “turtle” style) was very dense and hard to cut through. Granted, the flavor from the cinnamon sugar and basic chocolate sauce was mild and fine, but I wasn’t anything we’d get again. Turtle French Toast On top of all of that, we felt rushed in our dining experience. While it’s understandable, given the restaurant’s popularity and high turnover, it definitely hurt the overall meal. It was simply not a gratifying, enjoyable experience. Chef Mickey’s is always hoppin’! So, Where Should You Go Instead? Well, there are several better options across property for character breakfasts, but our recommendation today is Topolino’s Terrace. Topolino’s Terrace Located at the top of the Riviera Resort — and offering views of EPCOT among other sights — the restaurant (whose name roughly translates to Mickey Mouse in Italian) has a light Italian theme with elegant decor and impressive chandeliers. View from Topolino’s Terrace Plus, unlike Chef Micky’s crowded table setup, things are nice and spaced out at Topolino’s. Dining room at Topolino’s Terrace It’s breakfast offering features a choice of entrees for adults costing $54… ©Disney … and a children’s choice for $33. ©Disney We really enjoyed the Sour Cream Waffles (which are served with roasted apple, chantilly, and orange-maple syrup, served with your choice of smoked bacon, ham, sausage, or plant-based sausage). Sour Cream Waffles for Breakfast at Topolino’s Terrace While the waffles were less sweet than the classic Mickey waffles, probably because they’re made with sour cream, the maple syrup was delicious and added a beautiful citrus flavor to the dish. Sour Cream Waffles at Topolino’s Terrace If you want something a bit more savory, we also loved the Quiche Gruyère, which is made with house-made pancetta, roasted potatoes, field greens, and lemon vinaigrette. This super cheesy dish was seasoned just right and went really well with the potatoes and salad. Quiche Gruyere Beyond the food, the breakfast also offers some of Disney’s best-known characters — Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Daisy — decked out in adorable artistic costumes that certainly make for a unique photo op, even for those who’ve met the characters many times. Cute! Next time you’re planning a character breakfast at Walt Disney World, consider hopping on the Skyliner over to Topolino’s Terrace as opposed to Chef Mickey’s. Halloween will soon be a memory, and Mariah Carey will be let loose to activate Christmas mode ALL over the world, including Disney World. Well, we knew it was just a matter of time before Christmas started sneaking into the parks. So if you’re wondering when holiday decorations will start popping up in the parks… An owl Now, we get EXCITED to see the holiday decorations go up, and we do often see some of that happen BEFORE the official start of the holiday season (which technically runs from November 14th through December 31st). Well, the first holiday decorations have arrived in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and we’re sharing them with you! Yes, the first decorations have arrived in Animal Kingdom, and we couldn’t be more excited. Today, we noticed the carved animals on the top of the shops had appeared. The first decorations! These birds signal the arrival of the holiday season in Animal Kingdom. More holiday birds You can see the menagerie animals across the top of Island Mercantile. Animals on top of Island Mercantile One of the shops, Riverside Depot, is also getting in on the festive season — there’s already a holiday display with trees and extra decor there! A tree! Here’s a holiday display in Riverside Depot. Holiday display Of course, you can also grab some holiday souvenirs of your own! Holiday merchandise Now, it might be controversial to say that Animal Kingdom’s holiday decor is the best in Disney World, but I’m biased, and that’s what I believe. First, the decorations are specifically tailored to the park, so they’re the most unique you’ll find throughout the resort. Then there’s the Animal Kingdom Christmas tree that always blows us away every year. Now, we’re not sure when we’ll see that going up (and it usually goes up after Magic Kingdom’s tree), but we can’t WAIT to see it. It’s gorgeous and filled with all kinds of Easter eggs and nods to the park. When you’re headed out the door of your Disney World hotel room on your way to the parks, the first thing that might come to your mind is, “What are we grabbing for breakfast?” Maybe you’ve decided on a plan the night before that included making a stop at the hotel’s quick-service spot to grab a quick brekky, but we want to give a word of warning before you rush off. Mickey Waffles Every Disney World hotel has a quick-service dining facility that offers breakfast options. The Value Resorts all have food courts, while the Moderate and Deluxe Resorts offer quick-service restaurants. These can be great places to grab a little meal before hitting the parks, but you’ll definitely want to heed this warning if you do plan on stopping there. As you’re leaving your hotel to go to your transportation of choice to the parks (monorail, bus, boat, or Skyliner), consider the fact that so is everyone else at your hotel. It is VERY likely that many others at your hotel have the same idea as you to stop at the hotel’s quick-service location for a bite to eat. Full spread So keep in mind that the dining location you’re planning to stop at for breakfast will likely be very crowded at 7 AM with everyone who had the same idea as you. Lines to order, pickup, and pay for food will likely be long. Le Petit Cafe Normally, a great way to skip the lines at dining locations is to use Mobile Order, but when it comes to breakfast at the hotel spots, it may take longer than you would typically expect it to. A lot of people will be trying to use the Mobile Order system, so it may get backed up and not be quite as quick as you’re hoping. ©Disney A way to help this issue is to click “I’m Here, Prepare My Order” BEFORE you have actually arrived at the restaurant. This way, they will begin to prep it while you’re still walking there, and you’ll have a little bit of a shorter wait once you’re there. © Disney || “I’m Here. Prepare My Order.” You can also put your order in advance for a select arrival time. This will help the process be a little quicker, though the arrival time options may become limited quickly if a lot of people are using mobile order. ©Disney If you’re hoping to grab a quick breakfast at your Disney World hotel before making your way to the parks (which isn’t a bad idea), we do recommend going a little earlier than you might have planned to dodge those heavy crowds. This will give you extra wiggle room to catch the bus, monorail, boat, or Skyliner and still get to the park for rope drop. I grew up going to Disneyland, and when I moved to Orlando, Disney World became my home park. I couldn’t believe anything could get more magical. Well, that was true until I went on my first Disney Cruise. It took everything you know and love about the parks to the next level with incredible food, character interactions, entertainment, and more. ©Disney There are two new Disney Cruise Line ships coming soon, including the Disney Destiny, which sets sail in November 2025 out of Florida, and the Disney Adventure, which sets sail out of Singapore in March 2026. The Disney Adventure will be the first ship to have a castle onboard, and we just got a new look that is making me look up flights to Singapore and book PTO. The storybook castle is three decks tall and is officially installed on the Disney Adventure. It’s located in the Imagination Garden, which is the heart of the ship. “The art piece is a first-of-its-kind in the Disney Cruise Line fleet, bringing guest-favorite fairytales to life.” ©Disney Disney Imagineering took inspiration from different castles from films and Disney Parks around the world. It’s meant to look like a paper-cutout style, like a pop-up storybook, inviting guests to step into their own story. ©Disney It also looks in elements of adventure and the ocean with “nods to timeless Disney storytelling.” There’s a wave pattern surrounding the frame to celebrate the first Disney castle at sea. There’s even a Disney family crest, which is featured on every Disney Parks castle around the world. ©Disney The three-panel stained-glass window features various Disney heroines and princesses. There are also natural elements, including the water, sky, and the heart of Te Fiti from Moana. We love that there’s a sun, earth, and the Sundrop flower from Tangled, as well as the glistening ice and wind from Frozen, too. ©Disney || Imagination Garden Don’t forget to keep an eye out for hidden details that pay tribute to other Disney traditions. There’s a hidden Mickey, too! The base of the storybook castle is a waterfall meant to represent the Walt Disney Pictures castle that appears before every Disney movie. There has been one big problem that Disney fans have been begging Disney World to fix, and it’s finally happening! Frozen Ever After Big things are happening in Disney World right now! From Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster transforming into a brand-new Muppets-themed attraction, to Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin gearing up for an intergalactic refresh, and even Big Thunder Mountain Railroad getting an update, it’s clear Disney is giving some of its most beloved rides a next-generation glow-up. And now, one of EPCOT’s most popular attractions is about to join the list, and this update is pretty cool. In case you missed it, we reported that Frozen Ever After in the Norway Pavilion is getting a major upgrade! Since opening in 2016, this charming boat ride has taken guests on a magical journey through Arendelle, straight into Queen Elsa’s glittering ice palace. The attraction has been a hit from day one, thanks to its incredible storytelling, catchy music, and jaw-dropping technology. However, there was one part of the ride that really bothered fans: the projected faces. While the bodies of the characters were animatronic, the faces of the characters were a projection, making our icy friends look a little — odd. While they allowed for expressive animation, many visitors felt they didn’t quite blend with the rest of the figures. Frozen Ever After But now, after nearly a decade, Anna, Elsa, and Kristoff are getting brand-new, high-tech animatronic upgrades that promise to make the experience even more magical. Disney heard you, and they’re fixing it! ©Disney Beginning in early 2026, Frozen Ever After’s most famous faces, Anna, Elsa, and Kristoff, will debut completely new animatronic heads inspired by the incredible figures seen at World of Frozen in Hong Kong Disneyland. These newer models feature more realistic, true-to-film details and advanced motion technology that gives the characters a seamless, lifelike look, meaning no projections are needed. Hong Kong Disneyland Animatronics This update is a full-circle moment for Frozen Ever After. The attraction helped pioneer the technology that paved the way for rides like Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, and now it’s benefiting from the next generation of innovations. Once complete, this upgrade will make the Norway Pavilion’s star attraction look even more magical and remind everyone just how far Disney’s Imagineers are willing to go to keep making attractions better. Frozen Ever After Frozen Ever After is about to sparkle in a whole new way, and we can’t wait to see the results when the updated attraction debuts in 2026. A ton of work is being done at Disney World, which has resulted in a lot of closures! Magic Kingdom There seems to be no slowing down, because another popular Magic Kingdom attraction, Mickey’s PhilharMagic, is closing for refurbishment soon. Over in Magic Kingdom’s Fantasyland, Mickey’s PhilharMagic is set to close right after Halloween, on November 1st. The closure is a routine refurbishment for the attraction. The good news is that Disney does not expect the closure to last long and hopes the attraction will reopen later that month. Mickey’s PhilharMagic We checked the hours on the Disney World website, and right now it’s scheduled to reopen on November 23rd, as hours for the attraction are posted for that day. We’re wondering what the refurbishment could deliver for this underrated show. Maybe updated seats or effects (fingers crossed)! Mickey’s PhilharMagic We’re wondering how the busy season will look at Magic Kingdom while attractions are closed, whether it’s for refurbishment or permanent, to make way for the Cars Land expansion and the new Villains Land. The holiday season is just around the corner…like literally! Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party begins on November 7th! Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party If you do have a trip planned for the holiday season, just make sure to pay attention to what may be closed at Magic Kingdom. Theme park revenue climbed 18.7% in the third quarter for Comcast Corp., propelled by the early months of operation of Epic Universe, the company reported Thursday. The attractions segment, which includes Universal Orlando as part of Comcast’s content and experiences division, took in $2.7 billion in the quarter that ended Sept. 30. Epic Universe theme park debuted May 22. “We’re really pleased with the early results from Epic, which are driving higher per-cap spending and attendance across the entirety of Universal Orlando,” said Jason Armstrong, Comcast’s chief financial officer. Officials said the new park is performing as designed by making the resort more of a draw to weeklong visitors. “The full resort of Orlando is very strong,” said Mike Cavanagh, Comcast president. He said there has been less “cannibalization” of Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure, the pre-existing parks of Universal Orlando, than anticipated. Comcast executives say increasing the ride capacity for Epic attractions such as Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry will be a focus going forward. (Patrick Connolly/Orlando Sentinel) “Our focus now is just driving increased ride capacity. It’s a new park and very technologically advanced, so working on the labor and the kinks to drive it to full capacity,” said Cavanagh, who becomes co-CEO of the company in January. “We’ve been holding back a little bit to make sure the experience is what we want it to be, so we expect it to fully scale up in the months ahead, and we’ll really be driving higher attendance, per-caps and improved operating leverage … over the next year, year-plus,” he said. The theme park segment’s adjusted EBITDA — a financial measure of profitability before taxes, depreciation and other factors — was up 13.1% for the quarter. In short, the expense of operating Epic was outpaced by its revenue. No attendance figures for the parks were released. Also not mentioned in Thursday’s conference call were the August opening of Universal Horror Unleashed, the year-round haunt attraction in Las Vegas, or the September death of an Epic Universe visitor after riding the park’s Stardust Racers roller coaster. Executives addressed the broadband, wireless, streaming, movie studio and sports businesses within Comcast. The company as a whole made $31.2 billion in the quarter, a year-to-year increase of 2.7%. “Last week’s NBA tip-off marked the start of one of the biggest stretches of live sports in our history, and drew the largest audience for an NBA opening double eader since 2010,” Cavanagh said. “We’re in the heart of the NFL and college football seasons, and in February, we’ll have the Super Bowl, Winter Olympics and NBA All-Star Weekend, followed by the World Cup on Telemundo in June,” he said. “Sports remains a cornerstone of our media business.” dbevil@orlandosentinel.com View the full article
