  3. Boosted by the opening of the Epic Universe theme park, Orange County’s tourist tax collections hit an all-time high in fiscal year 2024-25, shattering the previous 12-month best, set last year, by $25.1 million, according to a comptroller report released this morning. Comptroller Phil Diamond, whose office tracks collections and spending of the bed tax, cautiously celebrated the new record of $384.5 million amid worries over air travel that could hamstring Central Florida’s tourism-focused economy. He cited recent flight cancellations blamed on a shortage of air-traffic controllers and the shutdown of the federal government. “These are very unique but very real concerns which just haven’t been concerns until this month,” Diamond said in a phone interview. “While a great many people drive here from the southeastern United States, a great many more — Canadians and New Yorkers, people from the northeast and upper Midwest — really wouldn’t come here if they couldn’t fly. It just wouldn’t be practical.” Canada is the top foreign market for Orlando. Diamond said thousands of federal employees have been unpaid or on furlough during the government shutdown, tied for the longest in history at 35 days, “and if they’re not getting paid, they’re probably not thinking about taking vacations to Orange County, Florida.” For September, the final month of fiscal year 2024-25, tourist-tax collections totaled about $26 million, which was $273,000 better than the tally from a year ago but also the most ever collected in a September in the history of the tax, first levied in the late 1980’s. September’s record receipts added a cherry atop a record-setting 12 months. The historic numbers weren’t a complete surprise to industry experts who predicted a surge of visitors with the debut of Epic Universe, the first new theme park to open in Orlando this century. Disney launched Animal Kingdom in 1998 and Universal opened Islands of Adventure in 1999. The weather also mostly cooperated. Hurricanes avoided Central Florida, unlike the previous fiscal year which started with Hurricane Milton forcing the Walt Disney Co. and Universal Orlando to close their theme parks for a day and a half because of the threat of high winds and torrential rains. Orange County’s tourist development tax, known by the acronym TDT, is a 6% surcharge added to the cost of a hotel room and other short-term lodging options, including home-sharing rentals like Airbnb or VRBO and the cost of parking a recreational vehicle in an RV Park. TDT spending is restricted by a state law that generally requires funds to be used to promote or expand tourism. More than half of the $5.6 billion generated by TDT since it was first levied in 1987 has been spent to build, expand, operate and maintain the Orange County Convention Center. By contract, Visit Orlando receives 30 cents of every TDT dollar the county collects. The money also has been used to build, expand and improve stadiums, arenas and some arts venues. The TDT report typically lags about a month behind collections. October’s report will be released in early December. In his monthly TDT report, Diamond noted reserve accounts funded by TDT totaled $471 million, $171 million above the minimum reserve level Diamond suggested the county maintain to guard against sudden, steep drops in visitor numbers due to world events. The reserves include an installment of $27 million the county will pay the city of Orlando for expenses related to improvements at Camping World Stadium and the surrounding campus. It also includes about $29 million for venue projects vetted by a citizens panel. shudak@orlandosentinel.com View the full article
  4. What’s better than one of EPCOT’s most iconic snacks? That iconic snack in coffee form! If you go to EPCOT’s Norway Pavilion, you can find Cold Crumb Cold Brew, a drink that channels the School Bread that’s long been sold in World Showcase. How does that even work? Well, I’ll tell you as soon as I stop drooling on the keyboard. Norway A quick refresher if you’ve never heard of the School Bread offered at the Norway Pavilion (and if you haven’t, you really need to drop everything and get to EPCOT): The treat is a sweet roll, filled with custard, and dipped in coconut, and it is spectacular. So, how did Disney turn that into a coffee that people are flocking to? Well, we found out. Available at Kringla Bakeri og Kafe — also the home of the School Bread — the Cold Crumb Cold Brew costs $6.29. Cold Crumb Cold Brew The drink consists of coconut-flavored Joffrey’s Cold Brew Coffee, vanilla custard cold foam, and Coconut Fancy. It’s LOADED with cold foam We found the Cold Crumb Cold Brew to be delicious! It featured a mix of vanilla and coconut flavors that perfectly captured the essence of School Bread, which *shockingly* pairs well with the pastry. Our one word of warning: If you’re into sweet coffee, be wary, as the drink’s sweetness comes from the layer of vanilla custard cold foam. The cold brew itself is pretty strong and has that signature Joffrey’s Coffee flavor. We’ve got a WINNER, people! While in Norway to grab a Cold Crumb Cold Brew, you also might want to stop by Frozen Ever After to see the original “glow head” versions of the Anna, Kristoff… Frozen Ever After animatronics … and Elsa animatronics one last time. Frozen Ever After According to Disney, early next year, the animatronics will be replaced with new figures that take “inspiration from the advancements seen in figures at World of Frozen in Hong Kong Disneyland.” Hong Kong Disneyland Animatronics The latest treat at the World Showcase, the Cold Crumb Cold Brew, combines two of our favorite things: Norway’s School Bread and coffee into one sumptuously sweet concoction that we can’t get enough of. 7. Picture this: You’re enjoying the glamour and glitz of the Hollywood Brown Derby at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and order the perfect finale to any meal — a mouthwatering Grapefruit Cake basking in its glamorous, citrusy sponginess. That first bite? Crisp, fresh, and bursting with flavor. The secret? Many of those grapefruits were grown, packed, and delivered right here in Florida by farmers who’ve been perfecting citrus for more than a century. To bring food and beverage at Walt Disney World to life, Disney partners with farms across the state to source the freshest ingredients — straight from their groves, through our kitchens and to your table. One of those farms, represented by Florida Classic Growers, is pioneering a breakthrough to help protect Florida’s declining citrus industry from a bacterial disease called citrus greening. Photo of grove impacted by Citrus Greening Disease Located to the southeast of Disney World in Dundee, Florida Classic is part of the Dundee Citrus Growers Association and has been in business for over 100 years. With more than 100 growers and 10,000 acres of groves, they’re one of the largest cooperatives in the state. Today, they’re leading with innovation through Citrus Under Protective Screens (CUPS) — an advanced system that shields groves from pests and disease while using less land and water. Since citrus greening first became widespread in 2005, statewide production has dropped by nearly 90%. CUPS is helping turn that around. “There is no cure for citrus greening,” shares Derek Rodgers, Director of Sales and Marketing of Florida Classic. “If one tree is infected in a grove, odds are the entire grove is infected”. Since Florida Classic began using CUPS, their citrus production has increased from 75 boxes per acre to more than 800 boxes per acre — a 1000% increase. “Typically it takes four to five years after planting a tree for it to grow usable fruit, but with CUPS we can harvest fruit by year two. This method has allowed us to grow the highest quality, best tasting grapefruit called Rubies,” Derek continues. “Rubies are more than a simple fruit; they represent resilience and a brighter future for Florida citrus.” “My hope is that future generations can enjoy the taste of Florida grapefruit just like I did growing up,” Derek shares. “It’s a legacy rooted in tradition, shaped by resilience, and now carried forward through innovation. The road hasn’t always been easy, but through our work with CUPS, we’re preserving something special, and planting a brighter, more sustainable future.” Disney’s commitment to local sourcing supports a massive small business ecosystem in Florida. Farming cooperatives like Dundee and Florida Classic Growers are just one example of the small businesses Disney works with across all 50 states, including thousands in Florida who help do it all — from the paint on Cinderella Castle to the popcorn at Main Street Confectionary in Magic Kingdom. That’s why you’ll always find citrus shining at Walt Disney World, where local flavors take center stage. 8. Disney World was designed and created with kids and families in mind. The experiences, dining, and rides are all kid-friendly with a few things sprinkled in for older kids and adults. There aren’t too many scary things at the parks, but there are certainly a couple. Disney World’s Haunted Mansion Take the Haunted Mansion at Magic Kingdom, for example. Its name says it all — this mansion is haunted by 999 happy ghosts. While this ride is also designed to be kid-friendly, there are certainly some scarier segments. One of those happens even before you officially get on the ride, during the preshow. But did you know that if you need to, there’s a way to skip the preshow? The preshow at the Haunted Mansion is charmingly termed “The Stretching Room.” This is because, you guessed it, the room appears to be stretching (or is it actually stretching? ). At one point during the pre-show in the stretching room, there are lots of flashing lights (lightning), thunder, and overhead, a not-so-fun surprise. The narrator even tries to convince you that you’re trapped with no way out of the room other than…well, becoming a ghost. Stretching Room For many fans of the Haunted Mansion, this is a very exciting, fun, and iconic part of the ride. You’ll often hear people quoting along with the narrator and fake screaming when the lightning and thunder go off. But for others, this part of the ride is scary and can cause a lot of anxiety, and not just for little kids. It’s a lot of stimulation, a small, confined area with lots of other people, and the idea that you’re trapped. And if you’re not prepared for what you’ll see when you look up, it can be terrifying, trust me, I know. Is this room actually stretching? When I was younger (and I’m talking like 17 years old), I had been on the Disney World and Disneyland Haunted Mansion rides probably hundreds of times. But apparently, I had never looked up. It was one time, when I was nearly a legal adult, that I finally looked up and saw the “hanging body” above me. I SCREAMED…and then legit cried to my dad. It took me completely off guard and scared the daylights out of me. I think I became the 1,000th happy haunt for a moment. Mwahahahaha! Sure, now, as a 33-year-old adult, I can still ride the ride, but I NEVER look up. So, if you’re like me and this room freaks you out, or you have little kids and you don’t think they’ll be able to handle it, there is a way out; you don’t even have to go through the show. However, this is NOT a way to skip the line. This is for those who truly cannot handle the preshow. It’s dark in here and full of people. It can be scary! Here’s what you do if you need to skip The Haunted Mansion preshow. When you get to the wooden doors to the mansion, ask the Cast Member there for a way around the preshow to the ride. They will give you a piece of paper with a note on it that says “Servants’ Quarters.” Servants’ Quarters note You’ll approach another Cast Member nearby with the slip before you move into the stretching room. This Cast Member will give you directions to the hallway, which will lead you to the exit of the ride. You’ll turn left, and there’s a “blink and you’ll miss it” hallway where you’ll be greeted by another Cast Member. They will direct you on how to get back into line and board the ride. Cast Members will help you skip the preshow if needed. The moral of the story is: trust the Cast Members to help you find your way around the stretching room. If you or someone in your party has a very difficult time with the stretching room preshow, this is a way around it. But PLEASE, do not abuse this system just to skip the line after the preshow. This is for those who truly need the accommodation. The Hat Box Ghost We hope that you enjoy the ride and your time at Disney World. If you ever need an accommodation or assistance, don’t hesitate to ask Cast Members. They are fantastic people who love to make your vacation memorable, within their abilities. 9. Disney World is in its “self-improvement” era. You know, every few years when you go through a phase and want to overhaul your entire life? We’ve all done it! EPCOT The theme parks are changing at a rapid rate! A new attraction is days away from opening, new lands are being built, and that’s just scratching the surface. Over in EPCOT, things are about to look pretty different in just a few days, and if you aren’t prepared, it’ll catch you off guard! There are so many wonderful things about the second Disney World park. The rides are standouts! You can walk around the world in just one day. Plus, we haven’t even touched on the food yet. The park is also known for its amazing festivals that rotate throughout the year, bringing different snacks, drinks, entertainment, and more. 2025 EPCOT Food and Wine Festival Right now, the most popular festival is underway! It’s called the Food and Wine Festival, and it’s easily the park’s largest of the rotating events. This year, the festival is running from August 28th through November 22nd, 2025. That means on November 23rd, POOF! All of the Remys, food booths, and decorations will be gone for the year. Full spread at the Festival Favorites booth! EPCOT will be looking veryyyy different in just a short amount of time. The park almost always has an event going on, but there are pockets of time every few months where no festival is taking place, and that can really throw you off your game. Food isn’t as easy to stumble on, and the park feels a bit emptier by comparison. 2025 Food and Wine Festival Belgium Booth While we still love the park, we won’t deny we’ve gotten very accustomed to the livlines that the festivals bring! 10. Walt Disney World is bringing back one of our FAVORITE Disney World snacks, and our stomachs couldn’t be more excited! Adventureland Spring Roll cart Disney has announced all the details on what food, drinks, and treats will be available at the 2025 edition of Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. The party, which runs on select nights from November 7th to December 21st, will feature scores of new and returning favorites, but one caught our eye immediately: The Pastrami Reuben Spring Rolls! According to Disney, this spring roll is a take on the classic deli sandwich served with thousand island dressing, will be available at the Adventureland Spring Roll Cart exclusively during Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party events. ©Disney So why are we so excited? Because we’ve had these AMAZING spring rolls before, and we LOVED them! Several years ago, Disney offered Reuben Spring Rolls at the same location, and we found them to be delicious. The mixture of melted cheese, pastrami, and sauerkraut all created a mega yummy mix reminiscent of the iconic deli sandwich, all wrapped in a crispy brown shell. Reuben Spring Rolls Our only slight nitpicks at the time were that the rolls were a bit greasy and that the sauerkraut could have been a little more potent. Hopefully, this new version alleviates those issues. You can be sure we will be first in line to find out on November 7th. 12. A new attraction at Disney’s Animal Kingdom puts polar bears in your face, introduces one very wet walrus, presents a buff buffalo clad in Lycra and solves a mystery, all in 10 minutes. It’s all digital, fortunately. “Zootopia: Better Zoogether,” an animated 3-D show, opens to the public inside the park’s Tree of Life Theater on Friday. Its arrival comes just ahead of the release of “Zootopia 2,” which comes to theaters Nov. 26, the day before Thanksgiving. It’s the sequel to 2016’s “Zootopia” from Walt Disney Animation Studios. “Better Zoogether” and the new film were in production at the same time, which allowed for cross-over and cooperation between Walt Disney Imagineering and the studios. The two creative arms bounced back ideas for a couple of years, Jared Bush, chief creative officer at the studios, said after a preview of “Better Zoogether” at the theme park this week. “Obviously they can do things that we can’t. We can’t get someone to be spit upon by a walrus,” Bush said. “That’s the sort interactive, immersive quality of that that’s really, really spectacular.” An animatronic version of Benjamin Clawhauser flanks the stage of 'Zootopia: Better Together,' a new 3-D show at Disney's Animal Kingdom theme park. (Joe Burbank/Orlando Sentinel) In the Tree of Life production’s story, the biomes of Zootopia are celebrating Zoogether Day in their own fashions, anchored by a concert by superstar Gazelle, a gazelle. As is theme park tradition, something goes horribly wrong, leaving Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde to investigate. They are again voiced by Gennifer Goodwin and Jason Bateman, respectively. “We had a huge responsibility to fit into the themes of Animal Kingdom. We explored a lot of different options, and it eventually came into how are animals interconnected together and how do we celebrate that?” said Priya Sampat, a producer with Walt Disney Imagineering. “After exploring additional options, we came upon Zoogether Day, which is a holiday that all of Zootopia is celebrating together in their own different ways, but eventually they come together at the end.” The theater was previously the setting for “It’s Tough to Be a Bug,” a show that closed in March after a 27-year run. “The Tree of Life theater has robust effects, you know, from the previous show,” said Danny Handke, senior creative director with Imagineering. We’re like, we got to reuse all these, except for the back poke, which I don’t think anyone liked. So we took that one out, but we’ll keep little seat bumps. We’ll keep all the others, the water, everything else.” Products from the fictions Paw-dora are part of the queue area for 'Better Zoogether' inside the Tree of Life. (Joe Burbank/Orlando Sentinel) So visitors are treated with puffs of air, sprays of water, flaming snowflakes and other jump-off-the-screen moments themed to the adventurous story. It’s fun and punny. The theater and queue have been rethemed from the insect world to a more four-legged experience, including addition the sponsorship of Paw-dora. Among the other sights are Benjamin Clawhauser, an animatronic cheetah who has the day off from the Zootopia Police Department, and Flash Slothmore, a sloth, in 3-D glasses. (He’s also spotted, comically, above the entrance to the attraction’s Lightning Lane queue.) The show is stocked with “Zootopia”-related Easter eggs and some characters and settings that will be seen in “Zootopia 2” this month, including Clawhauser’s fashion choices. The two projects had the same Disney animators. Zootopia characters Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde greet invited guests during a sneak peek of the Zootopia: Better Together! 4D show, Monday, Nov. 3, 2025. She’s part of this, which is mind- boggling to me. … And I love that she’s in this attraction,” Bush said. “You’ll see Gary the snake at the very end of this one, which is really fun.” Imagineers had access to the Marshmarket setting, which gives the Animal Kingdom show some Marshmaid moments. “You gave us a little peek when we were at WDS, and we loved it instantly,” said Chris Beatty, creative portfolio executive with WDI. “We’re like, oh, that’s kind of cool. We get to actually reveal something that is not yet been seen.” Ketan Sardeshmukh, who became vice president for Disney’s Animal Kingdom this year, said the show is a good fit for the park. “It’s at the icon for the park. It’s at the Tree of Life. And you have all these different species that are celebrated on the Tree of Life, and you even got lots of species coming together to put that to bear,” he said. 14. Disneyland Paris is one of the most controversial Disney parks. While it is gorgeous, some aspects of the resort have failed to live up to our expectations. Disney Hotel Santa Fe During our stay, we stopped by two official Disney hotels. The first was their newest retheme at Hotel New York — The Art of Marvel. The second was the resort’s Cars-themed Hotel Santa Fe! Now, we’re taking a drive over for a tour of the rooms and resort, and we’re bringing you along with us. Ka-chow! Disney’s Hotel Santa Fe is dedicated as a “colorful homage to Route 66.” The entire resort is inspired by the American Southwest and the Cars film. When we first pulled up, we spotted a large billboard of Lightning McQueen and Sally to greet us. We were excited to say the least. Lightning McQueen and Sally! This resort does feature a large, official Starbucks location, which is a huge plus. Not even the Art of Marvel hotel had that! The Starbucks! The resort is painted in colors like terracotta, red, orange, yellow, and more. Plus, the sidewalks look like roads! You can even spot little details of trees, cacti, and more along the buildings. The outside! The hallways are simple with bright colors on the walls and carpet on the floors. This can make it tough if you’re pulling a heavy bag! There are elevators at the resort, but we had trouble finding them if we’re being super transparent. It was also late at night, so we will admit we gave up the search pretty quickly. The hallways! Here’s a look inside the “Revved-up room,” which is the standard room at this resort. According to the website, the standard room is the only room type at this hotel. The standard room! When you first enter the room, you’ll spot the closet behind the door. It’s an open closet with two shelves, several hangers, and a safe for you. This is where most of our things stayed once we were unpacked and settled. The closet! The room features two queen beds, which were pretty firm with two pillows on each. Like most Parisian hotel rooms, it was also pretty toasty inside, so if you like to sleep like a true American (with a fan), you might want to bring your own. Two Queen Beds The beds feature a detailed sheet with characters from the film, including Lightning McQueen, Doc Hudson, Mater, Mac, Sally, and Luigi. A closer look at the details! Above the beds, there are soft, glowing lights that look like traffic cones and license plates. The lights! There is a photo of Mater on the wall, but be quiet! He’s sleeping! This is the same art you can find in Art of Animation Cars family suites. Shh! He’s sleeping! Underneath the beds, there was enough room for your bags. This room wasn’t huge, so the three people in our group had to get pretty creative with where to leave our things! This isn’t too different from a Disney World value suite. Underneath the beds! In between the beds, you can find a small nightstand. It had a phone, the remote for the TV, and information about the resort. Notably, the only outlets by the bed were behind the table and were being used by the phone. The table Across from the beds, you can find a dresser with a lamp, TV, and chair. Another look at the room! Even the mirror and lamp were shaped like a traffic cone, which we thought was super cute! The TV also had Disney+ on it, which you could watch even if you didn’t have a subscription as part of the resort’s perks. There was only one outlet by the dresser. The dresser! There was also a small desk area with a mirror for a spot to get ready. There was an outlet next to this vanity area for even more places to charge your things. The vanity area Across from the small closet, you’ll find the bathroom! It’s simple with a sink, a large mirror, and lots of space underneath the sink for storage. Above the toilet, there was also a large shelf where we could store more bags and toiletries. Inside the bathroom! There were cups, tissues, and a bar of soap for you to use as needed. The small items! There’s also a hair dryer built into the wall, so you have one less thing to plug in and pack. The hair dryer! The shower also doubles as a bathtub for you or your kiddos. The tiles along the wall mirror the checkered flag, and the shower curtain features the flags! There’s a body soap attached to the wall along with a shelf with the towels. The shower! The resort also provides two smaller bottles of shampoo and conditioner that are themed to the hotel. Shampoo and Conditioner Overall, the room was simple and was great for our group, who spent most of our time in the parks. Another view of the room! For this room, we paid just over $1,000 for three people for three nights, excluding our park tickets. When booking your room at Disneyland Paris, booking online includes your park tickets. We had to call the resort to book the room only. The hotel! The resort was clean (although the bathroom was not totally up to our normal Disney expectations), had a restaurant, bar, and Starbucks, and was only a 15-20 minute walk from the parks. It also included a free shuttle to the parks if you prefer not to walk. In the morning, it was quicker for us to walk than to wait for the shuttle. Another look at the resort! Staying on the property also gives you access to Extra Magic Time, which is an extra hour in the park! It isn’t overly themed, but kiddos will be pleased to see the nods to the movie throughout the resort. Unless you’re traveling with a big Cars fan, we would recommend trying one of the closer hotels or one that costs a bit less. All in all? It was fine. You can see our review for one of the resort’s Good Neighbor Hotels right here. Be sure to keep following DFB for more Disney reviews, news, and more! 16. We’re wearing our Santa hats and singing down Main Street, U.S.A., in Magic Kingdom because one of our favorite parts of the holidays is back. The Jingle Cruise is back! The Jungle Cruise in Adventureland goes through a huge transformation to turn into the Jingle Cruise, filling the attraction with Christmas themes and, more importantly, holiday jokes! Let’s check out the ride for 2025. The Jingle Cruise starts on November 3rd and runs until around the end of the holiday season, close to December 31st. If this is on your “must-do” list, we recommend seeing it from November 3rd to December 25th to ensure it’s up. Here we go! The line for this overlay is also usually really long! It might be a great time to grab a Lightning Lane Multi Pass and choose this as one of your first attractions, or be willing to wait in line for a few hours to experience it. The skippers went overboard with the decorations! Disney truly decks the halls at the Jingle Cruise! The queue is all decked out with decorations and hidden details to find. Hung with care The boats have some fun names, too. Make sure you check to see which boat you’re climbing into before you enter. Fun names! We’re not going to spoil the entire ride, but make sure you’re taking a look at the scenes, especially the ones on land, and keep your ears open for new jokes from your skipper. New signs This overlay is available all day long, not just for Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, so if you are going to a party, you might want to visit the attraction during the daytime so you’re not missing out on precious party time. Hehe If you love a good holiday overlay (hey, that rhymed!), you should also check out Living with the Land in EPCOT, which turns into Glimmering Greenhouses and is lined with thousands of lights throughout the attraction. Glimmering Greenhouses Even Figment likes to get into the season! Journey into Imagiontion with Figment has a very tiny change, but once you see it, it’s going to turn into a holiday tradition. When you’re learning about sound, check out what Figment is wearing when he pops out of the speaker. He’s very festive now It’s so early in the holiday season, and we have so much to share, so make sure you keep following Disney Food Blog for more Disney fun. 17. There are SO many options for dining at Disney World. And some of our favorite restaurants in Disney World don’t even require a ticket to the theme park! You can stop by one of the hotels or head over to Disney Springs for some delicious dining without setting foot in a theme park. Enzo’s Hideaway Cocktail We recently stopped by Enzo’s Hideaway at Disney Springs for lunch, and now we’re bringing you our FULL review. Is it worth a stop on your next trip to the Most Magical Place on Earth? Find out here! Atmosphere Enzo’s Hideaway Tunnel Bar and Restaurant is a bit tucked away in the Landing section of Disney Springs. The story behind Enzo’s Hideaway is that it is located inside the “rum-running tunnels” of Maria and Enzo’s Restaurant. The speakeasy serves Prohibition-era cocktails and a menu of Roman dishes. The entrance! As you explore Enzo’s Hideaway, you will find lots of details throughout the speakeasy that will make you feel like you are in a secret hideaway. Even the entrance to the restaurant is a bit secretive! As you are guided to your table, you will feel like you are traveling through the tunnels. We love the details, and we definitely encourage you to explore a bit while you are dining here! We love the design! But enough about the restaurant — what’s on the menu here?! Menu Enzo’s Hideaway offers an extensive selection of cocktails and alcoholic beverages! The Menu For starters, you can choose from a variety of Piccoli Piatti, or small plates. ©Enzo’s Hideaway There are also three options for Insalate, or salads. ©Enzo’s Hideaway As well, there is an option for a plate of cured meats and cheeses, as well as various options for Secondi. ©Enzo’s Hideaway And now, onto the main event — the food! Eats First up, we grabbed the Polpettine for $16. It is classic braised meatballs, whipped ricotta, and Parmigiano cheese. Polpettine The meatballs were so juicy and flavorful — very meaty and herby in the best way, so much so that we could have had this as our meal and be good to go! The tomato sauce was heavy on the tomato flavor, but tasted super fresh and homemade, and the whipped ricotta was lovely. It was creamy and fluffy, and added that delicious milky ricotta flavor to the dish. We do feel it was slightly expensive at $16, but we would absolutely get them again! We were big fans! We also got the Rucola for $16. It features baby arugula, radicchio, gorgonzola dolce, honey crisp apple, candied walnuts, aged balsamic, and extra virgin olive oil. Rucola This is a HUGE salad, and if you add meat, it’ll fill you up in no time. Everything tasted super fresh, and we loved how all the flavors complemented each other. The arugula was crisp, peppery, and fresh, and the radicchio added an even crispier texture and a bit of earthiness. The gorgonzola was in fairly large chunks, so we chose to cut it up and spread it out more throughout the salad, but it was very creamy and had that wonderful, funky flavor. You get a fair amount of sweetness from the crunchy apples and candied walnuts, and topped with the tangy balsamic vinegar and smooth olive oil, making this a very solid salad we would absolutely get again. We were impressed! Finally, we also grabbed the Roast Beef Panino for $18. It is slow-roasted NY strip, caramelized onions, cherry peppers, garlic aioli, and baby arugula. Roast Beef Panino This bread was super fresh, had a rustic flavor to it, and was fluffy with a crispy exterior. The sandwich was loaded with tender meat and arugula, and the onions were sweet and soft, but still had a bit of crispiness to them that added a great texture to the sandwich. The creamy garlic aioli added a great bite of garlic flavor and some creaminess like mayo, and the cherry peppers were the icing on the cake! They were acidic and vinegary, and added a bit of heat to the sandwich. We highly recommend, but you’ve really got to love arugula, and the only time you’ll be able to grab the panino sandwiches is at lunch, so keep that in mind! We were big fans! Finally, we tried the Quattro Mini Cannoli for dessert, which was $16. This came with four mini classic cannoli — one pistachio, one classic, one chocolate, and one hazelnut. Quattro Mini Cannoli These were all very fresh, as the shells were all crisp and had a great crunch, and the fillings were nice and creamy. The Chocolate Cannoli was our favorite, as the cannoli shell itself was dipped in chocolate, and then it was filled with a chocolate filling and dipped in some chocolate chips. It wasn’t overly rich, though, which earned it big points in our book. Chocolate Cannoli The Classic Cannoli was our second favorite, as the filling was light, fluffy, and creamy. The cannoli also had a piece of candied orange and a candied cherry on the sides, which added some freshness to it. However, if you’re someone who really wants just a plain cannoli, it might throw you off. Classic Cannoli The Hazelnut Cannoli certainly had a strong hazelnut flavor, so you’ve got to really love the flavor to enjoy this one. Our reporter wished there was a slight spice or a different flavor to break it up just a bit, but it was still tasty. Hazelnut Cannoli Finally, the Pistachio Cannoli is fantastic for those who love the flavor. The filling has a light pistachio flavor, and then it was also dipped in pistachios, so it wasn’t overpowering, but it definitely was very noticeable. Pistachio Cannoli Nosh or Not This Disney World restaurant is a must-visit if… You’re a big fan of unique dining experiences You want a slightly more upscale meal without spending an arm and a leg You’re already in Disney Springs You should skip this Disney World spot if… You want a restaurant that is brightly lit (this one is pretty dark!) You’re not near Disney Springs You’re not a fan of the theming/are prone to claustrophobia (while there’s plenty of room inside, we could see where some people may be a little hesitant due to the theming) Overall We think this restaurant is majorly underrated for the most part, and we know it’s now moved up on our list of favorite spots to visit. If you’re a big fan of the theming, want something unique you really can’t find elsewhere, and are a fan of the menu items here (Italian food, for the most part), then we say stopping here is a fantastic choice for your next vacation. In the meantime, we’ll be on the lookout for more restaurant updates from Disney World and beyond. Make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for the latest Disney news and more! 19. We have a heads up if you are heading to Disney World in January 2026! While we always recommend checking the My Disney Experience app for the most up-to-date information on park hours, we have a warning about an adjustment to park hours in January 2026. The good news is that the change is only happening for two days, but we don’t want you to be caught by surprise. EPCOT EPCOT will be opening late two days in January, and we want to make sure you know about it! Generally, EPCOT opens at 9 AM, but during the Disney World Marathon Weekend in January, EPCOT will open a bit later on two days. Don’t worry — it isn’t a huge change, but we also don’t want you showing up expecting the park to open at 9 AM. On January 10th and 11th, EPCOT will open at 10 AM, so make sure you plan accordingly. Also, during Marathon Weekend, there will be road closures, and you will likely notice heavier traffic around Disney World in the morning, so add in some extra time if you are trying to get somewhere. EPCOT The 2026 Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend is taking place from January 7th through January 11th, 2026. During the weekend, there will be a marathon, a half-marathon, a 10K, and a 5K. The theme for the marathon is “What’s Your Story?” and we got a peek at the medals back in October. Each race has a different medal, and runners who take on Goofy’s Race and a Half Challenge or the Dopey Challenge also receive additional medals. Marathon Weekends are lots of fun, but also tend to be busier times in Disney World. So whether you are running or not, be sure to prepare for more crowds, more traffic, and road closures. ©runDisney And don’t forget that EPCOT will open at 10 AM on January 10th and 11th due to the Marathon Weekend. You can plan to head to a different park in the morning, or take the opportunity for a relaxing morning. Whatever makes the most sense for your group. 25. If you have ever ridden Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure in EPCOT and wished the ride would just get rid of the 3D glasses, we have some good news for you! Whether you love or hate the 3D aspect of the ride, it is about to be gone for good. Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure in the France Pavilion Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure at EPCOT will be temporarily closing from November 10th to November 13th. While it is just a short closure, something BIG is happening during it. Currently, you experience Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure with 3D glasses, but that is about to change! During the closure, Disney will switch the attraction to the new 2D system, meaning once it reopens, there will be no more 3D glasses or 3D experience. This change from 3D to 2D was already announced for Disneyland Paris, so it’s no surprise it will also happen in EPCOT. However, if you have a trip from November 10th to the 13th, keep in mind you won’t be able to ride Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure. Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure In addition to the change to 2D, the EPCOT attraction will also be getting new props, and lighting will be added to the queue over the coming months. Disney hasn’t announced yet what exactly these new props and lighting entail, but we will be keeping our eyes peeled for new additions to Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure. Over at Disneyland Paris, the original Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure (Ratatouille: L’Aventure Totalement Toquée de Rémy) closed in October to undergo an extensive refurbishment. ©Disney At the original attraction, the ride will also be switching to 2D, but there is even more in store! The Disneyland Paris attraction will be receiving technical upgrades, scenic enhancements, new props, an enhanced queue, and more. The ride will be closed for much longer, though. Currently, it isn’t expected to reopen until spring 2026. On the other hand, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure in EPCOT will only be closed for three days: from November 10th until November 13th.
