  5. After months of construction, Disney’s latest hotel bar — The Perch — is nearly ready to open at the Grand Floridian Resort and Spa. Now, Disney has released a look at the menu for the lounge. ©Disney The bar, which is being added as part of a massive refurbishment of the venerable hotel’s lobby area, will feature a primarily drink and cocktail-based menu that should make it quite popular with both Grand Floridian guests as well as those who partake in the Monorail Resort Bar Crawl. The Perch’s primary offerings will be two exclusive cocktails themed to the flavors that define the hotel’s namesake state: The $22 Floridian 75 will feature Ford’s Gin, Florida Citrus Cordial, and lemon topped with Taittinger ‘La Francaise’ Brut Champagne. Meanwhile, the Sunshine State Rum Sazerac will feature Siesta Key Coffee Rum, Demerara, Absinthe Rinse, Peychaud’s Bitters, and lemon essence for $17.50. ©Disney In addition to these two signature cocktails, The Perch will also offer a full wine list: ©Disney There will also be three locally brewed beers — 3 Daughters Beach Blonde Ale from St. Petersburg, Florida, Funky Buddha Floridian Hefeweizen from Oakland Park, Florida, and Cigar City Jai Alai IPA, Tampa, Florida — available for $11.75 each. The menu finishes with a non-alcoholic Blueberry and Basil Iced Tea for $8.00. The Perch construction on the right Named and themed for the iconic birdcage which formerly occupied its location in the lobby, The Perch will celebrate the Grand Floridian’s “Victorian roots through intricate woodwork, elegant herringbone tile, and custom stained glass that shimmers with subtle hues.” ©Disney The company went on to promise that, “You might even spot a few feathered friends that have taken flight throughout the atrium, adorning the stained glass, murals, and wallpaper.” It’s possible this menu could be expanded in the future, but for now, this is what is on the Disney World website. ©Disney The Perch, along with its menu, is set to debut at the Grand Floridian on November 10th. 6. Alright, this is probably the COOLEST Disney castle enhancement ever invented! Disneyland Paris! We recently took a trip to Disneyland Paris and took in everything the French resort has to offer! During our adventure, we — of course — had to check out the European version of Sleeping Beauty Castle, and we went viral for capturing a little-known, but incredibly fantastic easter egg in the castle’s dungeon! Yes, you read that correctly…DUNGEON. While Disneyland’s version of Sleeping Beauty Castle lets you walk through and experience the story, Paris’ castle takes a way more chaotic approach. Paris’ version lets you go into the “basement”, where you’ll come face to face with a fire-breathing dragon! The castle, affectionately referred to as Le Château de la Belle au Bois Dormant (the literal translation of Sleeping Beauty’s castle), plays home to a hidden walkthrough (not too dissimilar to Disneyland) called La Tanière du Dragon…or the Dragon’s Lair. The dragon The walkthrough opened in 1992 with the park and was intended to have the skeleton of Maleficent’s dragon (cuz Maleficent and Sleeping Beauty’s castle go hand-in-hand), but Disney pivoted to an audio-animatronic dragon…and we’re so glad it did. This dragon is “INCROYABLE!” The dragon is 89 feet from head to tail and was the largest animatronic figure ever built when it debuted. Located in a dimly-lit cavern, the dragon sleeps silently before occasionally waking up, growling and emitting smoke with a ferocity that we can’t get enough of! Worth the trip! Hey, Disneyland and Disney World…take notes! Did you know about this ridiculously cool audio-animatronic beneath a Disney castle? 8. The new bar in Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort lobby has a name and an opening date: The Perch will open its counter to guests on November 10th. ©Disney The new bar is part of an extended refurbishment of the Grand Floridian’s lobby, which is getting new furniture, new carpet, and, pretty much, a whole new look. But we’ve been wanting to get an idea about that bar for a long time, and it looks like we won’t have to wait much longer. That’s right, you will soon be able to pull a chair up to The Perch, the new bar in the Grand Floridian’s lobby. On November 10th, sip on some cocktails right in the heart of Disney World’s grandest hotel. The new lobby bar really pulls into the Grand Floridian’s Victorian vibe with beautiful woodwork, herringbone tile, and custom stained glass. ©Disney According to Disney: “You might even spot a few feathered friends that have taken flight throughout the atrium, adorning the stained glass, murals, and wallpaper.” The bar itself is inspired by the birdcage that once sat in the lobby of the hotel. ©Disney Let’s talk about the menu. It will feature champagne, wine, beer, and two signature cocktails: the Sunshine State Rum Sazerac and the Floridian 75. A non-alcoholic option will also be available: the Blueberry and Basil Iced Tea is a blend of lemon, blueberry, and basil tea. ©Disney You can guarantee we’ll be sidling up to the new bar as soon as we can, so we can get you reviews of these drinks. 11. Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa has always been a place where timeless elegance meets Disney storytelling — and now, that story continues with a fresh new chapter. Over the past several months, guests visiting the resort have eagerly noticed the bright and inviting updates to the lobby as enhancements gradually took shape. The transformation is almost complete, and the result is nothing short of grand. Honoring the Past, Inspiring What’s Next Modeled after the grandeur of the Victorian era, the refreshed design celebrates the magic of discovery and blends classic charm with comfort. Each design choice is a love letter to the resort’s Floridian roots and the golden age of travel that inspired it. Stepping into the lobby feels both familiar and new. Warm light filters through the updated stained-glass skylights, illuminating detailed woodwork and the sparkle of newly refreshed chandeliers above. New furnishings invite guests to relax and take in the view. From the vintage-inspired wood-framed seating to grand pier mirrors featuring the resort’s iconic logo, every detail has been thoughtfully designed to preserve the resort’s heritage while creating a welcoming space for today’s guests. Grand Floridian Lobby Bar: The Perch Opens in November Guests can grab a drink and enjoy the resort lobby’s new look at The Perch at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa beginning November 10. Sip and savor from a light menu featuring champagne, wine, beer, and two signature cocktails: the Sunshine State Rum Sazerac and the Floridian 75. For a refreshing non-alcoholic option, the Blueberry and Basil Iced Tea is a delightful blend of lemon, blueberry, and basil tea. This all-new lobby bar celebrates the resort’s Victorian roots through intricate woodwork, elegant herringbone tile, and custom stained glass that shimmers with subtle hues. You might even spot a few feathered friends that have taken flight throughout the atrium, adorning the stained glass, murals, and wallpaper. Victorian Charm Meets Disney Magic Above the grand staircase, a new impressionist-style mural imagines what the Grand Floridian may have looked like at the turn of the century, framed by royal and sabal palms (Florida’s state tree!). Beneath your feet, the new atrium carpet blooms with meaning. Inspired by the Victorian “Language of Flowers,” the design celebrates hospitality, joy, and grace through florals native to Florida’s subtropical landscape. Look closely and you’ll find a few special nods woven into the pattern — like the orange blossom (Florida’s state flower and a symbol of prosperity), palms, moonstones (Florida’s state gemstone), and even a few Hidden Mickeys tucked among more than 200 individual blossoms. The Garden View Lounge Returns in 2026 We may be putting the finishing touches on the lobby, but the story doesn’t end there. In early 2026, The Garden View Lounge will reopen with a refreshed look that complements the new lobby design. The space will offer a new tea experience with whimsical Disney touches for guests of all ages. Updates to the Grand Floridian Convention Center The Grand Floridian Convention Center has also been elegantly refreshed, carrying the same refined design from the lobby and guest rooms into one of our most celebrated event spaces. If you’re attending a wedding, a special event, or simply admiring its splendor, every moment here feels touched by a bit of Disney magic. A Grand Tradition of Hospitality For decades, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa has set the standard for Disney hospitality. This elegant new chapter continues that legacy, and we can’t wait for you to discover even more of the details waiting to be found in every corner. Whether you’re here for a once-in-a-lifetime celebration or to enjoy every-day magic, Disney Resorts Collection hotels provide the perfect backdrop for memorable moments with the ones who matter most — from the next-level storytelling to the unbeatable service provided by cast members. This transformation is just one of the ways we’re investing in spaces at our resorts — including our guest rooms, common areas, and amenities like our fan-favorite pools — to keep them fresh and exciting for our guests to revisit time and time again. 12. Are you making plans to visit Disney World in early 2026? If so, you might be interested in attending the EPCOT Festival of the Arts. Now, this is my personal favorite EPCOT festival, and there is so much to do for both art lovers AND food lovers alike. But this year, you’ll find something NEW at the festival. 2025 EPCOT Festival of the Arts That’s because Disney is bringing the artwork from its Lorcana trading card game to the Festival of the Arts. Doesn’t that feel like the perfect fit for the festival? Disney World just shared the dates for the 2026 EPCOT Festival of the Arts, which will be happening from January 16th through February 23rd. Disney also announced that for the first time ever, Lorcana will be coming to the festival “with exciting activities designed for the whole family showcasing the beautiful artwork on each card.” Disney also said that this was just a teaser of what’s to come! ©Disney Lorcana is a collectible trading card game (think something sort of like Magic The Gathering, but with Disney characters). The game takes place in an enchanted realm called Lorcana, where you take on the role of an “Ilumineer” who has the power to wield six magical links to summon glimmers, magical versions of Disney characters who get their power from the ink they represent. Each ink enhances a character’s skills, personality, powers, etc. We love the artwork on the cards! Each card has gorgeous artwork, so it totally makes sense to showcase that art at the EPCOT Festival of the Arts. Plus it’s another activity that the whole family can enjoy while attending the festival. Meanwhile, you’ll also get to eat all the eats, see the Disney on Broadway concert series, help paint a mural, watch artists in action, and more. 14. When you’re packing your bag for Disney World, you may be stuck between packing a larger bag to ensure you have everything you need or packing a smaller bag to keep your shoulders from hurting all day. Packing all your park essentials is very important! We’ve tried out TONS of park bags since we’re in the parks nearly every day, which also means we’ve filled them with various essentials. Some were big wins that we’d use time and time again, while others we tried once and vowed to never pack them again. If you’re heading into the parks soon and are feeling a little lost, don’t stress, we’re here to help — here are the essentials we have in our bag each time we walk into the park! DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. Keep That Phone Charged FuelRod You use your phone for SO many things in Disney World — Lightning Lane reservations, checking wait times, photos and videos, not to mention using it to navigate your way around the park. Your phone’s battery will run out FAST, which is why having a portable charger is essential, and we recommend FuelRods! Not only are these pretty powerful on their own, but you can also swap them out in the parks for fully charged ones when yours dies (as long as you’re willing to give up the ones you purchased, of course). Or, you can charge them back in your hotel room each night. Check it out here! Sometimes a Small Breeze is All You Need JISULIFE Handheld Mini Fan Even during the cooler months in Disney World, it’s often much warmer than other areas of the United States, and if you’re used to a colder climate, you may still find yourself hot in the parks. Pack the JISULIFE Handheld Mini Fan in your bag so you’re never without a way to create a small breeze! Not to mention that this also acts as a portable charger AND a flashlight, both of which can come in handy while you’re in the parks. Check it out here! Never Struggle With Your Loungefly Again HOYOFO Mini Backpack Organizer If you’ve ever struggled to find an item inside your Loungefly bag (I’ve been there far too many times), you won’t want to go into the parks without the HOYOFO Mini Backpack Organizer! All you need to do is put this organizer inside your Loungefly, and then you can organize your items much more easily. It’s come in handy for us MANY times! Check it out here! Stay Hydrated! The Rapunzel Owala No matter what time of year it is, it’s incredibly important to stay hydrated. One of our favorite water bottles to grab is an Owala, and we find a lot of our team loves using them around the parks. They keep your drinks cold all day, are easy to attach to many bags, and we love that it has a lid cover, so you don’t need to worry about germs getting on the part you drink out of. Check it out here! Speaking of Germs… Touchland and Disney Special Edition Hand Sanitizer + Mist Case If you want to get super fancy, we recommend grabbing yourself the Touchland & Disney Special Edition Hand Sanitizer + Mist Case to bring along with you to keep your hands clean when you’re not around a bathroom (though you’re usually not more than a few minutes from one, no matter where you are in the parks). Now, any hand sanitizer will do the trick, but this one not only looks super cute and is easy to clip to a bag, but it also helps keep your hands moisturized. Check it out here! Rain Can Happen At ANY Time Frogg Toggs Poncho We’re currently in the rainy season in Orlando, as well as hurricane season, and that means rain can hit when you least expect it, even when the radar doesn’t show anything. That’s why we recommend bringing our favorite poncho, the Frogg Toggs Poncho, with you to the parks every day just to be safe. It’s saved our butts more times than we can count! Check it out here! Not A Fan of Ponchos? No Worries! BAODINI Travel Mini Umbrella While the BAODINI Travel Essentials Mini Umbrella is great to keep rain off of you, it’s also a great way to keep the sun off of you! This is a UV umbrella, and we’ve experienced firsthand how much it can lower the temperature around you under the umbrella. It may not seem like a lot, but it’s dropped the temp by what feels like 10 degrees for us before, which is a HUGE help. Check it out here! Stylish Sunglasses! ©Amazon No matter what time of year it is, it’s SUNNY in Orlando, and we don’t want you hurting your eyes as you walk around the park. Having sunglasses for this very reason is essential, and what could be better than the Mouse Ears Sunglasses? Nothing, that’s what! They’re perfect for the parks, and we have a feeling everyone will be asking you where you got them. Check it out here! We keep our eyes peeled for the latest and greatest deals to help you prepare for your Disney trips, so stay tuned to DFB! 17. We love Disney World so much that we are willing to do completely silly things if it means our trip is incredible. We’ve worn silicone shoe covers to hide from the rain and carried a personal air conditioner in our pocket to protect ourselves from the heat, but have we gone too far with this essential? This was incredible! Florida is HOT, and when the sun is beaming and there’s not a breeze, we start questioning our dedication to Disney World (just kidding — it could be above a pit of lava and we would still probably go). While trying to find relief from the heat, we might have just come across the best invention we’ve seen. DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. Meet the Outdoor Hat with Built-in Fans. Double the power We know it sounds ridiculous, but we’re truly obsessed. There are two fans on top of the hat, bringing you your own personal breeze when walking through Disney World. The fans can be solar-powered or charged via cable, giving you even more access to fans all day long. Look at that! This wasn’t the strongest fans of all time, but that’s how we like it! We don’t want to be pelted with wind — just invite a welcome breeze. When we wore it inside, we were so impressed by how it boosted the AC and made it feel much more powerful. With the high temperatures and heavy humidity, the fans weren’t able to fully turn on the AC, but it still helped tremendously. Don’t be surprised if you see us wearing this in the parks It’s also a huge, floppy hat! The brim can cover your head and shoulders, which gives extra protection from the bright sunshine. I always have a hat on me because I swear it feels 10 degrees cooler when I don’t have the sun basking down on me, and this hat gives FULL coverage. If you’re already going to wear a hat with a big brim, you might as well add the fans, which can also be taken out if you’re more into the hat. SHOP NOW Don’t know it till you try it! Not only did we see other people wearing the same hat, but it was also worth feeling a little silly to not overheat while trying to enjoy a day in the parks. Make sure you keep following Disney Food Blog for more tips and tricks for your next Disney World vacation. 18. Quick! We’ve got a little Zootopia joke for you, Disney fans. What do you call it when you’re trying to fast-walk to Flight of Passage at rope drop in Disney World? Well, to quote Nick Wilde, “It’s called a hustle, sweetheart.” ANYWAY! We’re here with some exciting news: the NEW Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde meet-and-greet has opened EARLY in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and we were among the first in line to check it out. This new meet-and-greet coincides with the grand opening of the new Zootopia: Better Zoogether! show, located in the Tree of Life theater at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. So, is it time to flash, flash, hundred-yard dash over to Animal Kingdom? We think YES! You can find Nick and Judy meeting Disney fans at Discovery Island near the Tree of Life at the Zoogether Day Gathering Spot. The duo is all decked out in their new looks from Zootopia 2. Cute, right?! Gathering Spot However, you can’t just go grab a spot in line to meet these characters. You’ll have to join a virtual line by visiting the Cast Members at the Gathering Spot. They’ll get your details and when it’s time for you to meet Nick and Judy, you’ll get a text! We spoke with one Cast Member who told us they would be using this virtual line at least today and tomorrow, and then they’ll decide if they need to continue using it after that. ©Disney Nick and Judy were SO much fun to talk to — there’s a lot to chat about now that Zootopia 2 is hitting theaters. These two are experts in investigating, so if you’ve got any cold cases, they’d probably be happy to help. Oh, and after you get your autographs, make sure to check out the Zootopia: Better Zoogether! show next door! The all-new 4D show (as viewed through your Carrot Vision 3D Glasses!) begins when you arrive at the main stage, just in time for Zoogether Day festivities! Zoogether Day is a celebration of unity amongst the diverse biomes across the city, and will be recognized with special performances. Zootopia: Better Zoogether! Joining the gang for Zoogether Day will be an audio-animatronic of none other than Benjamin Clawhauser, who is decked out in glow necklaces, bracelets, and his favorite glittery Gazelle tee shirt for the celebration! This show is super cute and adds a much-needed new attraction to Disney’s Animal Kingdom. ©Disney These new Zootopia attractions TOTALLY belong on your Animal Kingdom game plan. 20. Things are about to get really busy in the Disney World park, because it’s officially the holidays, baby! Disney’s Animal Kingdom We’ve seen seasonal merchandise out on the shelves, peppermint-flavored treats are soon to arrive, and holiday decorations are going up all over the place. But if you’re an Animal Kingdom fanatic, there’s one thing that the Christmas season brings that you won’t want to miss…the Tree of Life Awakenings! For most of the year, the sun sets after Animal Kingdom closes for the day, meaning we don’t often get to see the park at night. Of course, with the recent time change, it’s now getting dark much earlier in the evening, and that means the Tree of Life Awakenings are back! Tree of Life Awakenings in Animal Kingdom You’ll find showtimes posted on the Disney World website for this offering, and currently, it looks like they’re happening starting at 6:15 PM each night. This is a great way to end your night at Disney’s Animal Kingdom! The Disney World calendar isn’t showing any times after November 8th, but we’ll be on the lookout to see if that changes. Tree of Life Awakenings Winter Edition During the holiday season, the awakenings are winter- and holiday-themed, with a few different shows alternating throughout the night. You’ll witness various critters interacting with snowscapes or enjoying some winter fun, paired alongside stunning projections and beautiful music. While folks at Disney World this week may be feeling the heat, that’s all changing on Sunday. Temperature highs are forecast to fall to the 70s on Monday and into the 60s on Tuesday, with overnight lows dipping into the 30s and 40s by early Tuesday morning. 22. For months now, there’s been no Virtual Queue attractions in Disney World, but that has changed for the next two days! Zootopia: Better Zoogether! To celebrate the opening of Zootopia: Better Zoogether! on November 7th, Disney is offering Annual Passholder previews on November 5th and 6th. Overall, there are only FOUR chances to get in the virtual queue to see this show early, so here’s a step-by-step guide to getting a spot! Each day of previews, there will be two Virtual Queue drops — one at 7 AM and the other at 1 PM. For both of these drops, Annual Passholders need to have a park pass reservation to Animal Kingdom, but they can be located anywhere. Not anywhere in the resort — literally anywhere! Clawhauser! So that’s all fine and dandy, but now that the practice of getting Virtual Queues has been gone for some time, some of us may feel a little out of practice (I know I do!). Let’s run through EXACTLY what you need to do to grab a spot in this Virtual Queue, no matter which one you’re grabbing. (Note that these rules go for EVERYONE in your party trying to grab a spot in the queue!) 10 minutes before the drop: Ensure you’re settled somewhere to put your full attention on the drop — those minutes tick by fast! 8 minutes before the drop: Check that you’re logged into your My Disney Experience App. If you’re not logged in, log in ASAP! 5 minutes before the drop: Use an internet speed checker to see how fast your speed is both on AND off wifi. Many times your data is faster than Disney wifi, but you’ll want to check to be sure, because it does depend on your carrier. 3 minutes before the drop: Pull up a world clock on your phone to ensure you’re right on time — some clocks/watches are slow/fast, and you want to be sure you’re getting it on the dot 1 minute before the drop: Go back and forth between the My Disney Experience app and the world clock to make sure you stay on the correct page for the drop — if Disney kicks you off, click back into it and reconfirm your party ASAP 15 seconds before the drop (based on the world clock): Go back to the My Disney Experience app and continue refreshing the page (ONLY the page of the virtual queue, not the app overall). We’ve noticed in the past that the drop happens on the SECOND, or sometimes a few seconds early. Zootopia: Better Zoogether So here’s the full step-by-step of what you need to do in the My Disney Experience app: From the app’s home page, click on the three lines at the bottom right of the screen. Scroll down until you see “Virtual Queue” — click on that. ©Disney Click on the “Join Virtual Queue” button. ©Disney You’ll be directed to this page. Refresh until the Virtual Queue becomes available. ©Disney Once it’s available, you’ll want to join the virtual queue. Confirm your party (make sure everyone is connected on the My Disney Experience app). ©Disney You’ll receive a boarding group number with an estimated wait time. Note that this could change throughout the day. ©Disney You’ll be able to see your virtual queue’s status and estimated callback time on the app’s home page. ©Disney You can check the status of your boarding group at any time. ©Disney The app will let you know when it’s time to get in line for the attraction. Make sure you have notifications turned on, but you can also keep an eye on the app throughout the day. ©Disney This new attraction is a 4D show where you’ll use Carrot Vision 3D Glasses to join in on the Zoogether Day celebrations, which is “a celebration of unity amongst the diverse biomes across the city, will be recognized with special performances such as ice-skating spectaculars from the heart of Tundratown!” They’ll tell you when to put on the glasses! Heidi Howler hosts a live broadcast of the celebration, and Benjamin Clawhauser, who is decked out in glow necklaces, bracelets, and his favorite glittery Gazelle tee shirt to celebrate the day, watches with us in anticipation of hopefully becoming the V.I.Z. (Very Important Zootopian – the lucky mammal who will get special access to the Zoogether Day performers). However, things don’t go as planned, and he takes things into his own hands! 23. The latest quarterly injury report from Florida’s theme parks includes the September death of Kevin Rodriguez Zavala, whose autopsy pointed to “multiple blunt impact injuries” when he was found unconscious after riding Stardust Racers, a roller coaster at Epic Universe. The Zavala case is listed, without elaboration, as the fatality of a 32-year-old man. It is one of seven injuries reported for Universal Orlando parks in the July-September period. The state’s major theme parks self-report about visitors who are injured on rides if they result in at least 24 hours of hospitalization. The totals are made public through an agreement with the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. The reports are thin on details for the incidents. The state does not receive health updates after the initial assessments, and the names of the injured are not released. Four other coaster-related injuries were listed for Universal, including two on the Incredible Hulk Coaster at Islands of Adventure. On July 22, a 66-year-old man had chest pain after the ride, and on Aug. 20, a 56-year-old male had a headache after riding Hulk, the report says. The Incredible Hulk coaster at Islands of Adventure was listed twice in the quarterly theme park injury report. (Orlando Sentinel file) On July 5, a 40-year-old female had “an altered level of consciousness” after being on Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure coaster at IOA. On Aug. 24, a 32-year-old female reported neck pain and motion sickness from Revenge of the Mummy, a coaster at Universal Studios. On Sept. 29, a 78-year-old female experienced dizziness after being aboard Hogwarts Express, the train-themed attraction that connects two sides of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter attractions at IOA and Universal Studios. A 38-year-old woman had neck pain after riding Krakatau Aqua Coaster at Volcano Bay water park on Aug. 4. There were no reports beyond the Zavala death for Stardust Racers or other Epic Universe attractions in the most recent quarter, although two were recorded for the coaster in June. Epic Universe opened to the public in late May. Universal executives said said the company review found that Stardust Racers functioned properly and that its employees followed procedures correctly. State officials observed testing, and the ride manufacturer and a third-party roller coaster engineering expert validated the findings, according to a company memo. The ride reopened Oct. 4. A surf pool is the centerpiece of Disney World's Typhoon Lagoon water park (Preston Mack/Walt Disney Co.) At Walt Disney World, two incidents were reported at Typhoon Lagoon water park.
