  1. We’re finally on board the Disney Destiny for the very first time, and we could not be more thrilled! De Vil’s Lounge! The Disney Destiny is Disney Cruise Line‘s newest ship, which is themed to heroes and villains (the first Disney Cruise Line ship of its kind!), and we’re so thrilled to be on and checking out all the new entertainment, dining options, characters, and more onboard. One of the things we’ve been looking forward to the most has been the new lounges — if you’ve ever wanted to check out a lounge themed to one of the most iconic Disney Villains, look no further than the De Vil’s lounge! Are you planning to set sail on the Disney Destiny? Tell us in the comments! The post PHOTOS: See the First Ever Cruella De Vil Lounge on the Disney Destiny! first appeared on the disney food blog. 3. Your packing list for Disney World is probably getting pretty long at this point. From all the Mickey ears, Loungefly bags, and the essentials like toothbrushes and sunscreen, your suitcase is likely looking pretty full. We’re adding one more item to your list, but this one will barely take up any space! Dreamegg Portable Travel White Noise Machine This tiny essential is going to make your hotel room at Disney World so much better and give you complete peace of mind that everyone in the family will be able to sleep at night. This is the Dreamegg Portable White Noise Machine, and we were ready to right this off, but now that we’ve started using it, we’re never traveling without it. Here’s why we’re always throwing this in our luggage! DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. 1. Hotels Might Be Noisy Walls at some Disney World hotels can be thin, and after a long, 12-hour day in the parks, the last thing we want to do is be kept awake by our neighbor’s movie all night. This helps drown out excess noise. Even when it wasn’t plugged in, the white noise machine lasted all night, but it also comes with a charger if you want to keep it plugged in. You can also set it to 30-, 60-, or 90-minute intervals, or leave it on until you decide to turn it off. It’s super small, too, so it won’t take up much space on a nightstand or in your luggage when you pack it. Dreamegg Portable Travel White Noise Machine 2. Your Kids Might Already Be Used to It Hey, if it works, why change it? Kids might already be used to having some sort of white or brown noise on at home, and when we travel, we try not to change too much at once. We have bigger ones at our house, but we love that this literally fits in the palm of our hands. It has 16 different sounds and 35 volume levels, so you can find the right balance without worrying about your phone cutting out or Spotify cutting in and out. Super small The transitions between sounds are seamless, so you won’t notice the changes, and it’s a great piece of mind that your kids won’t be disturbed in the middle of the night with ads or weird sounds. 5. Hello from the Disney Destiny! We are officially cruising on Disney Cruise Line’s brand new ship, and we’re already living it up and enjoying its whole heroes and villains vibe. Welcome to The Sanctum! Now that heroic and villainous theme means we’re getting a LOT of Marvel representation on this ship, and that includes a very special Marvel-themed The Sanctum, themed around Doctor Strange. So let’s go inside and see what kind of strange magic Doctor Strange is brewing up. Up until now, The Sanctum has remained quite a mystery in both the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the Disney Destiny. But we did recently get a bit of a sneak peek of the artifacts that Doctor Strange has stashed inside. Now, though, it’s time to see it for ourselves. Inside the Lounge! The Sanctum is more than just a lounge, though. It also features some tableside performances by mixology sorcerers and the like. We got to see a bit of one when we visited, and it was fantastic! The drinks all look incredible, and we don’t know how we’ll decide which ones to try first. Don’t miss these demonstrations! Of course, you can also indulge in some food and drinks inspired by the mystical arts. Drinks will include a variety of alcoholic beverages, mocktails, spirits, and coffee. From their menu, there are eight alcoholic beverages available, one zero-proof drink, two non-alcoholic offerings, Mushroom Coffee, two dining options (including waffles, yes please!), and six different wines. The menu One of our other favorite parts about the lounge is all the different types of seating! Look at this booth! There are large booths, smaller tables with comfortable chairs, and a few seating areas that are tucked away, so you’ve really got to look hard to find them. One of our favorite tables We’re happy to finally peel back the curtain of The Sanctum and show it to you. We’ll be posting even MORE details about the Disney Destiny while we’re onboard, so stay tuned to DFB for more. 6. We’re finally aboard the Disney Destiny, and we could not be more excited to show you around as we explore the ship for the first time! There she is! The Disney Destiny! There are so many new dining options, meet and greets, theming elements, and more aboard the ship, we’re pleasantly overwhelmed with it all and want to share all those feelings with you. One of the things we’ve been most looking forward to is the new Cask and Cannon Lounge, which is themed to, you guessed it, Pirates of the Caribbean, and we just stepped inside for the first time! This new bar is “Inspired by the iconic characters and scenes from the beloved Disney Parks attractions around the world, the new pub will be an eclectic yet cozy watering hole furnished with treasures ‘acquired’ (read: pillaged and pilfered) during the pirates’ many voyages around the globe.” ©Disney From treasure maps and fishing nets to barrel stools, rum bottles, and skull-and-crossbones insignias, nautical motifs and pirate iconography have been thoughtfully integrated into the design. ©Disney You’ll want to look closely to find the many Easter Eggs inspired by the attractions, such as the fact that the pub is covered in wooden planks like a pirate ship, has nautical nods and pirate iconography, and is “outfitted with an eclectic mix of mismatched furniture and antiques.” ©Disney In addition, patrons will be able to choose from a litany of exclusive drinks, including the Dead Man’s Chest — a new experience made for two people that will fully immerse you in the theming of the bar. Both drinks are made with Zacapa 23 Solera Rum, Pineapple, Lime Juice, Agave Nectar, and Coconut Froth. ©Disney Looking for more Disney Destiny news? Check out our posts below! 7. There’s a NEW hotel coming to Disney World in 2027! ©Disney Disney Lakeshore Lodge is currently being built on the shores of Bay Lake near Magic Kingdom, and naturally, we’re all curious about what it’s going to offer. The resort has been shrouded in a bit of mystery ever since it was announced, so we’re here to break down everything we already know about it! Background To start, we’ve got to give you a little background on this resort. Years ago, Disney announced a new hotel called Reflections: A Lakeside Lodge. That project was stalled for quite a while, but then renamed Lakeshore Lodge and given a 2027 opening date. Lakeshore Lodge Concept Art ©Disney The hotel is located on the former site of Disney’s River Country water park, which closed back in 2001. This property is on Bay Lake, near Fort Wilderness and Wilderness Lodge. It would be a Magic Kingdom area resort, and we know that it will be part of the Disney Vacation Club lineup. Theme and Inspiration This hotel will be “inspired by the majesty of nature and its enduring influence on Disney artists.” The concept art features nods to both natural and artistic elements, as well as nods to characters from Bambi and Pocahontas, so it’s possible we could see multiple nature-forward Disney movies represented here. ©Disney Back when the project was Reflections, Disney shared concept art of rooms that were nature-focused as well. Some of the rooms even remind us of treehouses! Now, this direction for the accommodations could’ve changed with the new hotel name, but we’ll have to wait and see. Construction Progress So, where are we at now with the project? Construction has already begun, and we’ve been able to get a glimpse at things from far away a few times. The frame of the hotel has already taken shape, and it looks fairly large — it’s set to have more than 900 rooms. Main buildings Near the lake, there are some A-frame buildings taking shape that look as though they could possibly become cabins. Both the Polynesian Village Resort and Wilderness Lodge have waterfront accommodations similar to these, so these would likely be a popular addition. A-frames Aerial photos show the layout of the property with a sprawling setup not unlike Animal Kingdom Lodge. There looks to be a courtyard area that could become a swimming pool, and part of the parking lot is already paved. via @bioreconstruct on X/Twitter Other than these tidbits, Disney hasn’t released much information about this resort. We’ll likely see more details revealed sometime in 2026, as it’s set to open in 2027. via @bioreconstruct on X/Twitter If you’re interested in staying at this hotel in the future, keep following along! We’ll be updating our readers with more information from Disney as it’s released. Stay tuned to DFB for more Disney World news. 8. The United States Government has been shut down since October 1st, 2025, impacting airports and flights across the country, among other things. Orlando International Airport On the morning of November 10th, there were significant flight delays and cancellations at Orlando International Airport (MCO), the airport that most people fly into when heading to Disney World. We’ve got the latest information you need to know, so let’s get into it. As of 12 PM ET on Monday, November 10th, there were over 200 flight delays and nearly 60 flight cancellations at Orlando International Airport. This is largely due to the continued impact the government shutdown has had on the air travel industry. Both TSA agents and air traffic controllers, along with other federal employees, have been furloughed without pay, causing many employees to call out of work. MCO Airport Security If you’re flying out of MCO today, make sure you keep up with the latest information from your airline’s app for the most recent updates about your flight status. And, if your flight gets canceled, well, you might as well go to Disney World, right? Just kidding. Kind of. MCO Airport According to ABC News, a rare Sunday session was held, at which lawmakers “cleared a key hurdle” toward reopening the government. A short-term funding bill was passed by a close vote of 60-40. Officially, the shutdown is still in effect, but this is the first step toward reopening the government. Orlando International Airport While the shutdown may be ending soon, the impacts it has had will likely continue, especially when it comes to air travel. It will likely still take some time for things to be up and running, as lawmakers still have to debate and vote on the final bill before the government can reopen again, which is expected to happen this week. CNN reports that this past weekend was the worst for air traffic control staffing since the shutdown began some 41 days ago. Southwest Planes at Orlando International Airport We’ll be on the lookout for more flight delay info and updates that could impact your Disney World trip. 9. Ready your Sling Rings! It’s time to take a portal with us to The Sanctum, Disney Cruise Line’s first lounge themed to the spellbinding world of Marvel Studios’ Doctor Strange. Dimensional Design Details Step through the velvet curtains and discover The Sanctum, a centrally located entertainment parlor where the atmosphere is brimming with magic and mystery. Rich red and gold accents woven throughout the space draw inspiration from the distinct coloring of Doctor Strange’s Cloak of Levitation, which is displayed in The Sanctum alongside other familiar icons and trinkets. The unique design details take cues from Doctor Strange’s New York Sanctum, from the carpet pattern inspired by his prized medallion collection to a circular focal point behind the bar that echoes the chamber’s iconic skylight – backlit with color-changing capabilities to represent the powerful forces protecting The Sanctum from supernatural invasions. Mystical Mixology Like all Sanctums, this headquarters is home to a collection of mystical artifacts, but it also serves up a magical array of mocktails, cocktails, spirits and coffees. Witness the art of mixology with entrancing tableside beverage experiences and unique menu items that seemingly materialize from across the multiverse. Menu highlights include the Mirror Dimension, served in an interactive glass and garnished with an electrifying dust that will leave your taste buds tingling, and the Circle of Cosmos, mysteriously presented in an upside-down glass with a lemon peel spiral. And once all that sorcery has worked up an appetite, treat yourself to a signature stuffed waffle with custard cream or mixed berry compote filling. Spellbinding Showcase of Entertainment You and your family can visit The Sanctum to partake in a variety of spellbinding activities throughout your voyage. 10. Taking inspiration from Marvel Studios’ “Black Panther,” the Disney Destiny Grand Hall transports you into a world of heroes and villains from the moment you step on board. Design Details That Honor Wakanda The striking three-story venue, which dually serves as a central gathering space and entertainment hub for guests, honors Wakanda through thoughtful design details crafted by Walt Disney Imagineers. Insights from the “Black Panther” movies helped fashion the creative vision for the Disney Destiny Grand Hall, including metalwork on the pillars that mimics the banded armor and stacked jewelry found in Wakanda. Up above, the breathtaking chandelier is fashioned after Vibranium, the rare metallic ore found in the fictional nation. Directly below, the geometric patterns cleverly capture the chevron pattern from Queen Ramonda’s crown. Presiding over the Disney Destiny Grand Hall is a stunning statue of T’Challa, the Black Panther: King of Wakanda, devoted son and beloved brother sworn to protect his kingdom — and the Disney Destiny. Transformative Lighting Sets the Stage for Mischief For most of the day, the Disney Destiny Grand Hall emits a bright and optimistic energy — a hero’s welcome, if you will — but at any moment, it morphs into a mythical realm of mystery. With 360-degree lighting effects that fill the room with life and color, the ever-changing space reacts to the presence of certain characters, taking on the signature aura of some of the most legendary villains, rogues and mischief makers of Disney and Marvel lore. Unexpected Encounters Around Every Turn One such transformation takes place with the arrival of Loki, the fan-favorite character from Marvel Studios’ films and the “Loki” television series. Intent on clearing his name with the mortals of Midgard, Loki tries to declare himself ruler of this vessel and its occupants.  True to his infamous ego and affinity for chaos-making, you never know where Loki is going to turn up with a grand proclamation of his glorious purpose or a dubious retelling of a well-known story. (He does have a penchant for rewriting history, after all.) The God of Mischief occasionally recruits unsuspecting guests for a surprise competition to prove their adoration for his royal highness, or command them to explain the strange foreign rituals of ocean cruising. (All-you-can-eat soft serve is a new concept for the Asgardian.)  Other mischievous happenings begin when you encounter the playfully sinister practitioner of the macabre, Dr. Facilier, who is often lurking around the Disney Destiny Grand Hall with a dazzling parlor trick or sleight of hand. You can join him for a game of chance with nothing to lose.   There’s even more magic to explore aboard the Disney Destiny! Uncover all the heroic new venues and experiences in exclusive first-look posts — all right here on the Disney Parks Blog. 13. Grab your pirate hats and hold on to your treasure as we bring you inside Cask & Cannon, the Disney Destiny’s own Pirates of the Caribbean-inspired pub. A Thematic Tribute to Disney Parks’ Original Pirates A nostalgic salute to the beloved Disney Parks attractions from around the world, this eclectic yet cozy lounge is outfitted with a mismatched collection of “acquired” (AKA pillaged and plundered) furnishings and antiques, presumably procured during the pirates’ countless voyages. From treasure maps and fishing nets to barrel stools, rum bottles, and skull-and-crossbones insignias, nautical motifs and pirate iconography have been thoughtfully integrated into the design. The interior of the venue is decked out in wooden planks — evoking the interior of a sea-worn ship — and a trove of Easter Eggs honor both the highly successful film franchise and the original attractions’ famous lore. The wooden carvings framing the portholes appear to be charred, just like the attractions’ burning village scene and distinctive lanterns are reminiscent of the namesake attraction in Disneyland Paris.  There is even a set of 13 drawers filled with treasure maps, each labeled with different scenes representing the global parks and attractions, including The Ghostly Grotto, Port Royale, Talking Skull Bay, Blue Bayou, and Treasure Cove. Meanwhile, the stacked treasure chests that make up the bar front nod to the treasure rooms and Captain’s Quarters in the films. Toasts Inspired by Pirate Lore Evenings of revelry at Cask & Cannon include a menu fit for even the most seasoned swashbucklers, offering rare, specialty and vintage rums as well as a not-so-secret selection of specially developed “bootlegged” brews. Every true pirate knows that the ultimate treasure is the priceless memories made on a Disney Cruise Line vacation! 14. The fabulously over-the-top villain from Walt Disney Animation Studios’ One Hundred and One Dalmatians — and the acclaimed 2021 live-action film — inspires De Vil’s, a one-of-a-kind, adult-exclusive piano lounge onboard the Disney Destiny. Black, White, and Red All Over Cruella’s infamous flair for style and wickedly bold attitude are reflected in the bar’s Hollywood Regency-inspired aesthetic, where everything is adorned in her signature color palette of red, black, and white. There is even a glowing, fiber-optic Cruella that appears and disappears in the wall behind an eye-catching spotted piano. And with one side of the lounge open to the Grand Hall, you can sit back with a drink and a prime view of the ship’s premier gathering space.   Drama, Darling — Courtesy of Cruella Encounters with the legend herself are not uncommon at De Vil’s. Cruella graces patrons of her piano lounge with her larger-than-life presence during two brand-new entertainment experiences.  The first, just outside De Vils in the Grand Hall, is an opportunity for fashion-forward cruisers to put their personal style to the test on Cruella’s very own wretched runway, where the reigning rogue en vogue provides live commentary — whether she’s fawning over an absolutely exquisite fashion choice or offering dreadfully honest advice. And when she hears the (horribly inaccurate) “Cruella de Vil” song playing on board, Cruella may recruit you for a bit of treble-making to create a more flattering musical tribute to her marvelousness.   Something Sinister to Sip On An evening at De Vil’s is anything but “miserable, darling.” You can unwind in style with an avant-garde selection of designer drinks that complement Cruella’s glamorous legacy.  Menu highlights include the Fashionista, which combines freeze-dried strawberry and banana-infused Patrón Añejo Cristalino Tequila with banana liqueur, agave nectar, and fresh lime juice and the Fearless Sir Galahad, a zero-proof cocktail with Free Spirits Non-alcoholic Bourbon, bourbon barrel-aged maple syrup, Angostura bitters, and aromatic smoke.   Ready to experience Cruella’s perfectly wretched world for yourself? 16. It’s no secret that Disney Imagineers have some serious talent. I mean, they’ve developed dozens of incredible attractions, themed dining experiences, and immersive theme parks over the years. But they don’t always spend their entire careers with the Walt Disney Company, and recently, we’ve heard about some Imagineers venturing out to work on other theme park projects. ©American Heartland There have been a couple of theme parks announced with former Disney Imagineers on the creative team, and now, two of those have been officially canceled. Libertyland The first theme park on the chopping block is Libertyland. According to Sioux Falls Business, this mixed-use development that was originally slated to include a theme park and a resort has now been downgraded to an entertainment district. ©Libertyland Original plans for Libertyland USA included a 300-acre plot of land in South Dakota, but that has since been downsized to 50 acres. “We needed to take this from Disney World down to Disney Village and make it something that’s financeable and year-round and attract tourists and local residents,” said Darren Sloniger, managing director of Libertyland USA LLC. ©Libertyland Libertyland USA is being designed by Storyland Studios, a team with experience at The Walt Disney Co., Walt Disney Imagineering, Pixar Animation Studios, Universal Studios, and Legoland. The design for the space will still be Americana-themed, and there is still set to be a hotel on the property. “The only outdoor attractions I’m contemplating are a 150-foot high Ferris wheel and a carousel that will be outdoors, and then go-karts and putt-putt golf for summer,” said Sloniger. ©Libertyland The goal is to break ground in the next six months. American Heartland Theme Park American Heartland Theme Park was another project being created by former Imagineers, and it was announced in 2023. Recently, we’ve learned that a key investor is suing the developers behind the project. According to KOSU, Gene Bicknell has filed suit with the help of attorneys Amelia Fogleman and Joseph Lang of GableGotwals, accusing the developers of defrauding him of millions. ©American Heartland The suit accuses three defendants — Richard Silanskas Jr., Stephen Hedrick, and Larry Wilhite — of running a “criminal enterprise” and manipulating Bicknell into providing more than $60 million for the proposed $2.5 billion project. Claims against Wilhite and Silanskas state that they allegedly defrauded Bicknell by “impersonating God and religious figures through hundreds of electronic messages.” ©American Heartland The American Heartland resort was originally going to span 1,000 acres in Vinita, Oklahoma, and include a 125-acre theme park. It was also set to have a water park, a large RV park with cabins, a dinner theatre, an amphitheater, a swimming pool, a clubhouse, and more. ©American Heartland The development team included over a dozen former Disney employees, but now the website for the project is no longer functional. 18. If you’re craving a caffeine fix at Downtown Disney at Disneyland today, you’ll have to go somewhere other than Starbucks to get it. Starbucks at Downtown Disney The Starbucks location at Downtown Disney Anaheim is unexpectedly closed. The Downtown Disney Starbucks store is temporarily closed, according to the Starbucks app. It’s showing that store hours are not currently available. As of now, the Starbucks inside Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure are still open and operating. ©Starbucks On Instagram, @disneymikem shared a photo of a sign posted on the door that reads, “Our location is temporarily closed. We apologize for the inconvenience. Please visit one of the locations inside Disneyland Park or Disney’s [sic] California Adventure Park. Thank you.” It was also reported that the tables and chairs outside the Starbucks had been removed. via @disneymiked on Instagram While neither Disney nor Starbucks has confirmed, this closure may have to do with the ongoing push from the unionized Starbucks employees for fair labor practices. Earlier last week, unionized employees overwhelmingly voted to authorize a strike, according to the Los Angeles Times. The union said baristas are prepared to strike if contract negotiations cannot be finalized by November 13th. While this deadline is a few days away, it’s possible that the Downtown Disney Starbucks store is already feeling the impact. Starbucks in Downtown Disney The Starbucks Workers United union represents 12,000 workers at around 650 shops. More than 55 unionized stores are in California, including the Downtown Disney location, which voted to unionize in 2022. Join the DFB Newsletter to get all the breaking news right in your inbox! 20. The holidays at Disney World can be SUCH a magical time — but don’t get caught off guard by chilly temperatures! Blizzard Beach A cold front is moving into Central Florida and the Disney World area, with wind chills dipping down into the 20s at times. If you’re heading to Disney World this week, here’s what you need to know! A strong cold front is moving into Disney World and will last through Tuesday, November 11th. Temperature highs are forecast to fall to the 60s on Monday and into the 50s on Tuesday, with overnight lows dipping into the 30s and 40s by early Tuesday morning. Christmas at Disney World And, while that’s certainly chilly for Florida already, gusty conditions will push wind chills into the 20s, making it feel even colder than it is, per WKMG. Freeze and frost will be possible as well, so for locals — make sure you bring in those sensitive plants and protect your pets! Hollywood Studios The Orlando high forecast for Tuesday is 59 degrees, which could break the record cold high of 61 degrees set back in 1913. ©WKMG If you’re heading to Disney World during the cold front, make sure you’re prepared! Things can feel pretty darn cold when you’re walking around the parks, especially at places like EPCOT, with the World Showcase being chilly thanks to the Lagoon in the middle of the park. We typically recommend dressing in layers, that way you can take heavier jackets and coats off if the temperatures do rise a little bit. Disney’s Animal Kingdom Keep in mind that rides may be closed due to technical issues from the cold, the water parks may close due to cold weather, and some outdoor dining locations may also temporarily close due to the weather. Don’t let an unexpected closure ruin your trip, though; there is SO much to do at Disney World, and who knows, an unexpected closure might lead you to something even better! 22. Today is a big day over in EPCOT, because one of the park’s most popular rides is CLOSED as of today for a big change to take place. Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure in the France Pavilion Disney announced back in October that Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure would be closing for a short period of time this month, from November 10th to 13th, for some big updates to the ride. This means that there will be one less ride available during your EPCOT trip for the next few days, and once it opens back up, it’ll look pretty different. Beginning today, November 10th, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure is now closed for all guests, but it’ll reopen just a few days later on November 14th (though that date could change if the refurbishment takes longer than expected). This is to turn this attraction from 3D into 2D, meaning that 3D glasses will no longer be required to ride. (All regular glasses wearers, rejoice!) Hey, Remy! Lots of people who struggle with motion sickness are looking forward to this change, as we know many people have said that 3D attractions often bother them more than 2D, so this change may also make the ride more accessible. That’s not all, though — new props and lighting will also be added to the queue and attraction over the coming months, but Disney hasn’t revealed any more on what that will actually look like. Disney has not announced that the ride will need to be closed for these additions, but that doesn’t mean they won’t be announced in the future, so stay tuned to DFB — we’ll keep you in the know! Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure line This isn’t the only version of the ride changing, either! Disney announced in August that similar changes would be coming to the original version of the ride in Disneyland Paris, but its closure will be much longer. This version of the ride will be receiving technical upgrades, scenic enhancements, new props, an enhanced queue, and more, including a new scene depicting a Parisian artist’s studio, “teeming with details and accessories such as canvases on the walls, paint splatters, and a fruit basket that may well whet the appetite of all the adorable rats in the neighbourhood.” ©Disney The ride’s projectors will also be replaced with 2D, so neither attraction will have the original 3D animation. This attraction closed back in October for all these changes to occur, and isn’t expected to reopen until Spring 2026. Alongside the reopening of this ride, Disneyland Paris is also expected to welcome World of Frozen in 2026, along with Walt Disney Studios Park becoming Disney Adventure World. The new name comes with a brand-new ride that will be inspired by Disney Pixar’s UP, a Tangled Spin ride, and Disney’s first-ever ride themed after The Lion King. However, no firm opening dates are available for any of those rides. 23. Sleeping at Disney World sounds like the easiest part of your trip, right? Well, you might need to think again. A room at the Polynesian Between the excitement, the early mornings, and the unique hotel experience, getting a good night’s sleep at Disney World can be trickier than it sounds. Whether you’re staying at a Value Resort or one of Disney’s Deluxe hotels, there are a few things first-timers should know before their head ever hits the pillow. Let’s talk about what you might not expect when trying to sleep at a Disney World hotel and how you can prepare for it. DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. It Can Get Loud, Especially at the Value Resorts Let’s start with the big one: Disney hotels can be noisy. Value Resorts like Disney’s Pop Century and the All-Star hotels are often packed with families, sports groups, and tour groups, which means you’ll likely hear doors slamming, kids running, or luggage wheels rolling down the sidewalks late into the night. Even Moderate and Deluxe Resorts aren’t immune. Depending on where your room is, you might catch the sounds of fireworks, pool parties, or those early-morning luggage carts. Pop Century If you’re a light sleeper, this can come as a surprise. We recommend packing a pair of earplugs or downloading a free white noise app on your phone. You’d be amazed how well a little steady background noise can block out hallway chatter or the thud of excited feet heading to the buses at 6 AM. View on SALE The TVs Are Bright If you’re someone who likes to fall asleep with the TV on, you might want to prepare yourself for what’s waiting in your Disney hotel room. The current TVs are modern, high-definition, and incredibly bright, which sounds great during the day but not so much when you’re trying to doze off with the lights off. Room TV There’s no dimming feature for the screen, so that glow can light up half the room. If you’re traveling with someone else who’s already asleep, you might find yourself caught in a battle between wanting background noise and wanting darkness. Your best bet is to stream something on your phone or tablet instead and keep the brightness low. It’s a lot easier on the eyes and your sleeping partner. You’re Probably Waking Up Earlier Than You Think Here’s the thing: “vacation sleep” doesn’t really exist at Disney World. Even the most laid-back guests find themselves getting up earlier than usual to rope drop their favorite rides, grab an early breakfast reservation, or catch the first bus to Magic Kingdom. That means you might be setting alarms before sunrise, especially if you’re trying to make the most of your day. Bus at Disney’s Beach Club Resort On top of that, while Disney hotel rooms have blackout curtains, you’ll still likely get a bit of light creeping in through the edges in the morning. Combine that with the sound of other guests heading to the parks, and sleeping in might not be an option. If you’re not a morning person, bring an eye mask and give yourself permission to sneak in an afternoon nap. Trust us, you’ll need it. View on SALE It’s Disney, and Excitement Doesn’t Turn Off Even if your room is quiet, your brain might not be. You’re surrounded by Disney magic, and that energy can make it hard to relax. You might find yourself lying awake thinking about tomorrow’s rides, replaying your favorite moments from the day, or mentally rechecking your park bag for the morning. Look at the sky! This is normal. Disney World is designed to keep your adrenaline up from sunrise to fireworks. Try giving yourself some downtime before bed. Take a walk around your resort, dim the lights, or listen to something calming before you try to sleep. You’ll fall asleep faster and wake up feeling more ready for another long but magical day. A Few Extra Tips Ask for a top-floor room if possible. You’ll avoid the sound of footsteps above you. Use the “Room Occupied” sign in the mornings if you plan to sleep in a little later. Housekeeping can start early. Bring your own pillowcase or small blanket if you’re particular about comfort. It can help your body adjust faster to a new sleeping environment. Don’t underestimate how tired you’ll be. Even if you think you’ll stay up watching resort TV or heading to the bar, most guests end up crashing hard after a long park day. Room Occupied sign A Disney World hotel stay can be full of magic, but it’s not feel exactly like a spa retreat. Between the noise, the early mornings, and the endless excitement, sleep might be more of a challenge than you expect. Still, with a few easy tricks, you can make sure you get the rest you need to tackle the parks each day. Wailulu Bar & Grill Wailulu Bar & Grill is the newest restaurant to open at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, located at the new Island Tower. This isn’t your typical pool bar — it features an all-day menu for lunch and dinner, plus specialty coffee and on-the-go morning pastries available for breakfast. Up until now, this restaurant has been first-come, first-served, but that’s all changing in December. Wailulu Bar & Grill will begin taking Advance Dining Reservations in December! Disney updated the Wailulu page on its website, revealing that reservations will be available beginning on December 3rd, with the earliest reservation date being the following day, December 4th. Wailulu Bar & Grill offers stunning views of Seven Seas Lagoon and Cinderella’s Castle at Magic Kingdom, plus it features some incredible infinity pool elements as well. View from Wailulu Bar and Grill Appetizers like Sweet Potato Hummus and Spiced Ham Musubi are joined on the menu by more substantial eats, including Sticky Pork Ribs, Poke Bowls, and a Wayfinder Burger — which is one of the best burgers on Disney World property, if you ask us. A signature Polynesian Resort treat — a DOLE Whip Sundae — is also up for grabs! Wayfinder Burger Adding reservations at Wailulu should make it a bit easier for people to plan to dine there! That way, folks won’t have to roll the dice by walking into a potentially busy restaurant with no availability. It’s unclear whether Wailulu will still offer walk-up seating (potentially at the bar), but we expect breakfast and coffee service to remain grab-and-go, as it has in the past. We’ll let you know if that changes once reservations begin, though. Pineapple-Coconut Bread from Wailulu And, if you haven’t already been to Wailulu — this is your sign to book a reservation on your next Disney World trip! We’ll be on the lookout for more dining and food updates you need to know about from Disney World. 25. A hero’s welcome awaited the new Disney Cruise Line ship, the Disney Destiny, Monday evening during a sensational christening celebration at its homeport of Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The Disney Destiny Christening combined the spirit of a high-energy concert with the theatricality of a Disney spectacular, including a multi-tiered set, drone special effects and scenic projections on the ship itself, alongside a live band and a dozen dazzling vocal performers. The waterfront production featured a custom, pop rock-inspired arrangement of iconic music from Hercules, The Lion King, Frozen, Pirates of the Caribbean, Black Panther and more — a tribute to the legendary Disney, Pixar and Marvel stories guests can experience aboard the new ship. “For more than 100 years, we have entertained our fans in new and innovative ways, connecting them to the Disney stories they love,” said Josh D’Amaro, Chairman of Disney Experiences, during the celebration. “Disney Cruise Line is a powerful part of that legacy because our ships become brand ambassadors that travel the globe and bring joy to our guests in ways only Disney can. Now, the Disney Destiny makes its own extraordinary entry into our growing fleet.” The evening culminated in a sparkling pop of champagne and the ceremonial christening blessing bestowed by Susan Egan, godmother of the Disney Destiny. The prolific Broadway performer who embodies the spirit of the ship with her close ties to beloved Disney stories — from lending her distinctive voice to bring to life the witty banter and dry humor of Megara in Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Hercules to originating the role of Belle in Beauty and the Beast on Broadway — recited the blessing to kick off a glittering grand finale of heroic proportions and ready the ship to set sail. “The Disney Cruise Line team, alongside our Disney Imagineers, have invested years of their expertise, creativity and dedication into this beautiful ship,” emphasized Joe Schott, President of Disney Signature Experiences. “They have created something truly spectacular.” Inspiring Students to Discover Their Destiny through Arts To further celebrate the launch of the Disney Destiny, Disney Cruise Line is working with local organizations in Florida and The Bahamas to inspire students through the arts with the “Discover Your Destiny” initiative. This program brings the magic of theater into classrooms, offering students a behind-the-scenes look at entertainment careers. By engaging with Disney Cruise Line’s creative professionals, students will explore their talents, learn about exciting opportunities in the industry, and be encouraged to dream boldly about their futures. Disney Cruise Line Continues Expansion Plans The Disney Destiny is the newest ship to join Disney Cruise Line’s growing fleet, marking a significant milestone in the cruise line’s multi-year expansion plans to bring the magic of Disney cruises to new audiences around the world. This expansion will grow the fleet to 13 ships by 2031, and also includes the Disney Adventure, which will homeport in Singapore beginning in March 2026; a fourth ship in the Wish class expected in 2027; the introduction of a brand-new class of ships in 2029; and an agreement with Disney and Oriental Land Co., Ltd. (OLC) to introduce Disney cruise vacations to Japan in 2029. The sister ship to the Disney Wish (2022) and the Disney Treasure (2024), the Disney Destiny draws on the legacies of larger-than-life heroes and villains from Disney, Pixar, and Marvel to offer new and guest-favorite experiences steeped in legendary Disney lore. Highlights include an original Broadway-style adaptation of Hercules; entertaining dining experiences inspired by The Lion King and Marvel Super Heroes; immersive meet-and-play experiences with beloved characters; a Mickey Mouse-themed water attraction; one-of-a-kind lounges inspired by Cruella de Vil and Doctor Strange; imaginative kids’ clubs; and signature fireworks at sea. The Disney Destiny embarks on its maiden voyage on November 20, followed by an inaugural season of four- and five-night cruises to The Bahamas and Western Caribbean from Fort Lauderdale — home to Disney Cruise Line’s newest year-round terminal, which opened in November 2023 and offers even more options for guests.
