It’s the million dollar question right now — What are the dates for the 2018 Epcot Food and Wine Festival? We’ve been getting A LOT of emails and messages lately asking us this question right now, and we KNOW you’re all eager to start planning your trips, booking your hotels, and looking for flights. We are, too! What are the dates for the 2018 Food and Wine Festival? The dates for this year’s festival have not yet been announced. But we can make some pretty good guesses based on previous years that will hopefully help you as you start to make your plans. Last year Epcot celebrated its 35th anniversary, and the Epcot Food and Wine Festival ran for a record 75 days — from August 31 (Thursday) until November 13 (Monday)! In 2016 the Festival ran from September 14 (Wednesday) through November 14 (Monday), and in 2015 the Festival didn’t start until September 25 (Friday) and ended November 16 (Monday). 2017 Coming Soon! sign Between 2015 and 2016, the festival extended 11 days, and between 2016 and 2017, the festival expanded two weeks. So we do expect another extension, but it’s not guaranteed. If an extension happens, it will most likely happen at the beginning of the festival. Disney likely won’t extend the festival past the closing date of November 12 since they’ll start running into holiday events and the Festival of the Holidays in Epcot. (But they’ve surprised us before!) Looking at those dates, it is very likely that the 2018 Epcot Food and Wine Festival will start between the middle and end of August — likely August 14, 23, or 30, and will run through November 12, 2018. Disneyland is adding a new dining location in Adventureland, now being called The Tropical Hideaway, between The Tiki Room and the Jungle Cruise. Disneyland Tropical Hideaway Dining Location The former Aladdin’s Oasis (and former former Tahitian Terrace) will be repurposed into “a popular rest stop for Adventureland locals and weary explorers alike,” says Disney. “Guests will be able to rub elbows with their favorite skippers in an exotic traders’ market, featuring all of the sights, sounds and flavors of the tropics.” Disney has been vague with details, but we do know that the spot will not be a table service location like skipper Canteen in Disney World’s Magic Kingdom, nor will it serve alcohol (in keeping with Disneyland’s dry philosophy). We look forward to more details soon! Check out our Disneyland reviews here! Disney Food Blog Fans, be sure to check out our DFB Disney World Dining Guide e-Books! Find great deals at DFBStore.com! Tonight’s “After Dark” image was snapped at the Germany pavilion in World Showcase at Epcot. From a visual standpoint, it’s one of my favorite pavilions in the park and – to me – looks even lovelier at night. The German-influenced colorful designs, statues, bells and architecture seem to illuminate like a page from a fairytale storybook after the lights go down. What’s your favorite thing to do in the Germany pavilion? Shop? Dine? Check out the fare – and the amazing smell – of the made-on-site treats at the Karamell-Kuche shop? View the full article

I’ve lived in Orlando for the better part of twenty years now, and while the nightlife in town has certainly changed during that time, the desire for great late-night offerings has never wavered. Once the sun sets, there’s a whole world of grown-up fun to be found at Disney Springs. Discover a curated collection of late-night options for those that aren’t quite ready to call it a night when the clock strikes 10, or for anyone who is just getting their night started around that time. The hottest locations at The Landing, the neighborhood in the heart of Disney Springs, stay open ‘til 2 a.m. Thursday through Saturday, and possibilities abound. You can choose one venue or mix and match locations, hopping from one to the next – the choice is yours. With late-night menus and entertainment that rocks until well after midnight, now is the time to rediscover what makes Disney Springs sizzle after dark. (Also appealing? There’s plenty of free parking and no cover charges!) Whether you opt to stay and linger after dinner, decide to visit after a day in the Disney Theme Parks, or choose to come specifically for a little late-night fun, there are plenty of ways to make the night your own. Here are a few of my favorite ways to enjoy it: NEW! The Edison: The hand-crafted cocktails speak for themselves, but when you add in entertainment that includes a mix of live musicians, flapper-style dancers, stunning aerialists and a DJ with a ready-to-go dance floor, it’s clear to see why The Edison has already become one of the most sought-after late-night destinations in Central Florida. Round out the evening with The Edison Burger, which takes center stage on their late-night menu. NEW! Enzo’s Hideaway: Steps away, the speakeasy-vibe continues at this intimate hideout. Be on the lookout for a soloist who, when mixed with a rum beverage from the bar, will transport you back to a bygone era. The BOATHOUSE: A live-band performs inside until midnight, but the over-the-water deck bar offers stunning nighttime views (cool breeze included) until the night concludes. Hungry? The full menu is available until 1 a.m. Thursday through Saturday. The Forbidden Lounge at Morimoto Asia: A special entrance leads upstairs to a tucked-away Asian Ultra Lounge. This under-the-radar addition is a très chic, little-known gem that’s perfect for date night for two – split a few appetizers and signature cocktails – or a gathering with friends (in which case a pitcher of sake sangria is a must!). Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar: When the day crowd clears out, expect some fun additions, including larger-than-life games that give you permission to enjoy some friendly competition with friends, both old and new. If your late-night vibe is laid-back, then this is the place for you! Haven’t tried the “Sankara Stones and Barrels” yet? You should … they’re fried cheese curds and potato barrels that will soon be the late-night snack you dream about. Paradiso 37: Looking for some Latin flare? The volume is turned up on this energetic venue where dancers and live music pair perfectly with the largest selection of tequila at Disney Springs. If you want a margarita that’s big enough to share, this is the spot to find it. Plus, the P37 nachos are available all night long, along with other favorites like Quesadillas, Canadian Poutine and North American Corn Dogs. Raglan Road: For over a decade, this authentic-as-they-come Irish bar has been one of the very best late-night options in town. That hasn’t changed a bit – here, you can discover hearty pints (I’d suggest a Guinness), tasty bites (Fish & Chips for me, please!), and an entertainment line-up that’s so robust, they need a calendar to list it all! My favorite act has always been the award-winning Irish dancers, guaranteed to put some pep in your late-night step. STK Orlando: Style and sophistication take center stage at this upscale steakhouse-turned-lounge once the dinner set departs. Hip DJs read the crowd and masterfully mix playlists to get the party started. Throw in some signature cocktails (the Cucumber Stiletto is my top pick) and get ready for a night to remember. Anyone who knows me knows that I spend a lot of time at Disney Springs, even when I’m off-the-clock. When it comes to nightlife here, I’ve dressed to the nines and I’ve shown up in sweats. (Literally – sequins to terrycloth –I’ve done it all!) Come as you are, and I can pretty much promise you that you’ll find something to suit your late-night style. Do you have a favorite late-night offering at Disney Springs? If so, share in the comments below, I’d love to know! View the full article

Our summer season in Europe includes sailings in the Mediterranean and Northern Europe with a variety of cruise lengths to fit your family’s vacation schedule. My last few posts have featured our destinations in Italy, France and Spain, most of which are on our Mediterranean voyages. Today we’re moving north to Norway, where you can visit on select cruises from Copenhagen, Denmark and Dover, England, near London. Kristiansand Kristiansand is a charming port town on the southern coast of Norway with picturesque beaches, a thriving harbor and a colorful town center. Spend time exploring historical sites like the Kristiansand Cathedral, a majestic Neo-Gothic structure and the 3rd-largest cathedral in Norway, or ride along the countryside on a vintage steam train for idyllic views. Stavanger Located at the mouth of the Gandsfjord in southwestern Norway, Stavanger offers fun for adventure lovers and history buffs alike. For once-in-a-lifetime adventure, hike to Pulpit Rock, the famous rocky cliff with sweeping views of Scandinavia and the fjord 2,000 feet below. Or for a more relaxed day, enjoy the city scenery in Gamle Stavanger (Old Stavanger) where cobblestone streets and wooden houses preserve the city’s history. Alesund This picturesque city situated at the entrance of Geirangerfjord stretches across multiple islands and is surrounded by majestic mountains and shimmering waterways. Board the Town Train to view the town’s beautiful Art Nouveau architecture or go back in time at the open-air Sunnmøre Museum where buildings date back to the late Middle Ages. For an impressive aerial view of the city, climb Aksla mountain to the Fjellstoua Viewpoint. Oslo One of the largest capital cities in the world, Oslo is a mix of old-world charm, gleaming skyscrapers, expansive parks and cultural attractions. Enjoy traditional Norwegian cuisine at a charming restaurant, shop for Scandinavian specialties in the cosmopolitan stores, tour the Royal Palace or visit one of the more than 50 museums. Which of our European destinations are on your family’s bucket list? View the full article

Get out the lime and the salt because National Margarita Day is TODAY! And I’ve got a whole list of tasty margs to share with you so you can celebrate with us at the Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resorts! This list contains my personal favorite margaritas, as well as some tasty apps that you and your friends can enjoy along with them. In order to properly kick off this list, I’m starting with none other than the Mexico Pavilion at Epcot. If you’re looking for an authentic, hand-crafted margarita, then this is the place to go! Inside the pyramid you’ll come across La Cava del Tequila, a warm lounge where you can sip on a wild passion fruit margarita while snacking on corn chips with guacamole or queso. And just outside the pyramid is the recently opened Choza de Margarita – which offers hand-blended and frozen margaritas and authentic South of the Border specialties such as Empanadas de Barbacoa and Tacos al Pastor. Here, my personal favorite marg is the Guava Pink Peppercorn Margarita. This signature “On the Rocks” drink comes with Zignum Reposado, guava nectar, grapefruit liqueur, lime juice, Peychaud’s Bitters and pink peppercorns. If you’re in the mood for a refreshing frozen margarita, then you’ll also find classic flavors like Wild Strawberry, Classic Lime, Passion Mango, or the Fiesta option, which combines all three flavors into one spectacular frozen drink! Next on the list is BoardWalk Joe’s Marvelous Margaritas, located just across from the Pizza Window at Disney’s BoardWalk. Here, the margaritas really are MARVELOUS! My favorite one being the Marvelous Watermelon Margarita, with Patrón Silver Tequila, watermelon, fresh lime juice and sweet-and-sour. You can also order a Frozen Grand Margarita with Jose Cuervo Gold Tequila and Grand Marnier. Both of these tasty drinks go perfectly with the Joe’s nachos and cheese or even a slice of yummy pizza from the Pizza Window. Of course, Disney’s BoardWalk also makes for the perfect setting to relax and enjoy these tasty libations while enjoying a gentle breeze over a gorgeous lake. At Disney Springs, you might come across what looks like an old 1960’s Florida fruit stand, but instead of fruit, you’ll find delicious margaritas! Dockside Margaritas is one of the most popular spots at Disney Springs to relax, grab a snack and enjoy some sweet margs while listening to live music. The Sunset Margarita is definitely a must-try, with Don Julio Resposado Tequila, Cointreau, fresh lime juice, sweet-and-sour and orange juice. If you’re looking for more classic flavors, the strawberry of lime frozen margaritas are for you! You can also snack on some Loaded Nachos while you sip – these come topped with guacamole, salsa, cheese dip and sour cream. And what’s better than margaritas and nachos? In addition, in The Landing at Disney Springs you’ll see Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar, the ex-home of Indiana Jones’ sidekick and pilot. Here you can quench your thirst with adventure-inspired cocktails, like Pancho’s Margarita with Don Julio Reposado Tequila, Grand Marnier and fresh sweet-and-sour. And while you’re taking in the atmosphere of this 1940’s airplane hangar turned dive bar, try some of the appetizers too, such as Air Pirate’s Pretzels or Mac’s Pork Belly Sliders! Recently, I wrote about all of the rose gold sweets you can find here at Walt Disney World Resort, and one of those items was a brand-new Rose Gold Margarita! This beautiful and tasty marg consists of Lunazul Reposado Tequila, Cointreau, lime juice, sour mix, grenadine and flavors of mango, guava and ginger as well as a gold sugar rim, and it can be found at the Barefoot Pool Bar at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. Also at this resort is Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto, a tropical tiki bar where you’ll find fantastic drinks and small plates to munch on. Here you can try the hand-crafted Rosita’s Margarita with Casamigos Reposado Tequila, Orange Curaçao, fresh lime juice, Falernum and organic agave nectar. Pair this with the mouthwatering Kalua Pork Tacos with cabbage and pickled vegetables and you’ve got yourself a taste of the South Seas lifestyle! Pandora – The World of Avatar at Disney’s Animal Kingdom has a special margarita inspired by the Na’vi and the “bioluminescence” of the Valley of Mo’ara. Found at Pongu Pongu, the Mo’ara Margarita is infused with strawberry and blood orange flavors and is topped with strawberry boba balls and a glowing Unadelta Seed. You can even snack on the delectable Pongu Lumpia, a pineapple cream cheese spring roll, while you sip on this sweet drink. On the west coast, finding a margarita at Disneyland Resort isn’t too difficult, especially in Disney California Adventure Park. Just head on over to Rita’s Baja Blenders at Pacific Wharf and you can cool down with some fresh frozen margaritas in strawberry or lemon-lime! This rehabilitated water tower also serves non-alcoholic frozen drinks as well as savory chips to snack on. Also found at Pacific Wharf is the relaxing and Mediterranean-inspired Alfresco Tasting Terrace. Here you can relax on a patio overlooking Radiator Springs while you enjoy a selection of incredible cocktails like the Habañero Margarita, the Blood Orange Margarita, or the Watermelon Margarita. You can even nosh on Italian-inspired appetizers like Classic Bruschetta or a Charcuterie and Cheese Board. At the Downtown Disney District you can enjoy the colorful outdoor patio of the Taqueria at Tortilla Jo’s, where you’ll find margaritas, Mexican beers, tacos, nachos and more! And if you’re looking for a casual dining experience, just head on in to Tortilla Jo’s for a rich, authentic, south-of-the-border menu that includes a drink selection with over 15 different specialty margaritas. Some of the highlights of this marg menu are the Pineapple-Cilantro Margarita, the Fresno-Mezcal Margarita, and the Spicy Mamacita Margarita. There are also a variety of traditional fruity flavors such as pomegranate, strawberry-mint, blood orange, melon and, of course, lime. There’s no better place to spend National Margarita Day than at a Disney Park, so whether you’re at Disneyland Resort or Walt Disney World Resort, grab some friends and be sure to come on out and celebrate with us! And don’t forget to share your Margarita Day experience using the hashtag #DisneyFood. View the full article

June 23rd will be a HUGE day at Disney California Adventure Park in Disneyland Resort! It was recently announced that it will be the opening day for Pixar Pier. Pixar Pier Marquee Concept Art ©Disney And it was just revealed that it will also be the opening day for the new Lamplight Lounge! This seaside lounge is taking the place of the beloved (and recently closed) Cove Bar. But Cove Bar will certainly not be entirely forgotten, as the Lobster Nachos from Cove Bar will be featured on the menu! Lobster Nachos AND guests will have the opportunity to visit the Cove Bar once more… it will reopen for a brief run starting March 16th, and will close again at the end of May for its permanent transition into Lamplight Lounge. Cove Bar Once the new Lounge opens, the Lobster Nachos will be featured on the menu along with more California gastro-pub cuisine and signature cocktails unique to the spot. The bar will boast, of course, beautiful waterfront views from upstairs and downstairs. And outdoor seating will offer awesome views of the new Pixar Pier at night, as well as the World of Color spectacular. World of Color According to Disney, the Lamplight Lounge, which is “renovated from an old warehouse factory,” will retain many of its original features. Elements include steel structures and exposed concrete and brick walls, with the original factory floor boards refinished as ceiling panels and floors. The space will reflect the “creativity, inspirations and personalities of the artists and storytellers who have brought Pixar stories to life.” Look for artistic marks left by the Pixar “regulars” throughout the space, such as concept art, sketched-upon napkins, collectable toys of Pixar characters, and more. Read up on all the best eats in Disneyland Resort right here! So… whaddya think? Are you excited to experience the new Lamplight Lounge? Please let us know with a comment! The Disney World Star Wars Hotel is coming your way with the opening of Galaxy’s Edge in Disney World’s Hollywood Studios! Today we have a few more peeks behind the curtain with newly released details and concept art photos! Disney’s buzzword with this hotel is “immersive.” They’re pushing the concept that once you check into the Star Wars Hotel, you’d basically better be a HUGE Star Wars fan, because you won’t be in Kansas anymore (or, more accurately, in Orlando anymore). Once entering, guests “board a starship alive with characters and stories that unfold all around them.” Oh, and no sunlight for you, suckas — you’re looking exclusively at space through every window. When it comes to location, the hotel will “be seamlessly connected” to Galaxy’s Edge — which makes me think there will be an entrance to the park directly from the hotel (a la California Adventure from the Grand Californian in Disneyland). That hasn’t been announced, but it would be cool. Oh, and if you’re into Star Wars cosplay, this place is for you. Disney’s already inviting you to dress the part while staying at the Star Wars Hotel! Speaking of staying there — here’s a brand new piece of concept art showing one of the Star Wars hotel rooms! Disney World Star Wars hotel Room Bunks, bedrolls, a giant window showing a view of various planets, moons, asteroids, and — we hope — the DEATH STAR?!??! That would be cool, right? Instead of fire drills, there are Darth Drills? We’ll have to wait and see! See more details and concept art for the Disney World Star Wars Hotel here and here! When Pixar Pier opens June 23 at Disney California Adventure park, guests will discover a new hot spot at the Lamplight Lounge. This seaside lounge will be an elegant yet fun gathering place for the whole family, located at the entrance of Pixar Pier. And I am excited to answer the question on everyone’s mind: It will serve the guest-favorite Lobster Nachos! Lamplight Lounge will serve California casual gastro-pub cuisine that is playfully presented along with unique signature cocktails. This seaside lounge contains a full bar with picturesque waterfront views from both upstairs and downstairs. At night, outdoor seating provides views of the illuminated Pixar Pier and “World of Color.” Renovated from an old warehouse factory, the location has kept many features of the original two-story building. The steel structural elements as well as concrete and brick walls were exposed and repaired to tell the story of its past. The original wood boards from the factory were refinished and given new life as ceiling panels and floors. The furniture style echoes a relaxed feel and the end result is an open, airy and bright place that is organic yet sophisticated. Lamplight Lounge celebrates the creativity, inspirations and personalities of the artists and storytellers who have brought Pixar stories to life. Guests will discover the artistic marks that the Pixar “regulars” have left throughout the lounge: concept art, a quick sketch on a napkin, knick-knacks and collectable toys of beloved Pixar characters will adorn the space. Come discover the treasured keepsakes and tastes of Lamplight Lounge when it opens along with Pixar Pier on June 23. Guests wishing to visit the Cove Bar one more time are welcome to stop by as it reopens briefly beginning March 16 before closing again at the end of May for its permanent transformation. Earlier this morning, Bob Chapek, Chairman of Walt Disney Parks & Resorts, shared exciting new looks at two different Toy Story Lands that are currently under construction at Disney Parks. Here in the U.S., Toy Story Land is set to open to guests at Disney’s Hollywood Studios on June 30, 2018. This land will bring with it all the fun, imagination and beloved characters from the “Toy Story” films. When it opens, guests visiting the land will “shrink” to the size of a toy and join in on the fun Woody, Jessie, Buzz, and Andy’s other favorite pals are having in Andy’s backyard. Here, guests can take a ride on Slinky Dog Dash, a roller coaster Andy has assembled from his Mega Coaster Play Kit and topped off with Rex and Jessie, while Slinky serves as the coaster vehicle. (See photo above for a new look at the track). Families will also be able to take a spin on Alien Swirling Saucers, a galactic play set that Andy won from Pizza Planet. Here, adorable little green aliens swirl about in their flying saucers with guests in tow in their rocket ship toys, while “The Claw” hangs overhead. Guests can also walk through a new carnival game box to experience Toy Story Mania!, which has been a guest-favorite attraction at the park since it opened in 2008. Now expanded with a third track, the popular attraction will put even more guests in the action taking aim at 3D objects – using everything from baseballs to cream pies – in a variety of whimsical, fast-paced games. Woody’s Lunch Box will serve up tasty meals and old-fashioned soda floats from a walk-up window setting. The entire land will serve as a visual celebration of toys, with Crayons, Cooties, Green Army Men, Rubik’s Cubes, Tinkertoys, and other familiar toys and game pieces incorporated into the land’s design. Bob also shared this amazing behind-the-scenes video that shows the progress that’s being made on Toy Story Lands at both Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Shanghai Disneyland. (Toy Story Land at Shanghai Disneyland will include three attractions – Rex’s Racer, Slinky Dog Spin and Woody’s Round-Up – and is on track to open on April 26, 2018). Take a peek at both in the video above.
