It was certainly a surprise to stop by Pongu Pongu last week and no longer see the spot’s signature snack — the Pongu Lumpia — on the posted menu signboard. Pongu Lumpia But that made it an even happier surprise to see that the pineapple cream cheese roll is suddenly back on the menu this week, nearly as quickly as it disappeared! Here is the menu today… Current Pongu Pongu Menu … and here is the menu from last week. Pongu Pongu Menu last week The Cast Member we spoke with did confirm that they removed it from the lunch and dinner menu last week but “decided to put it back.” As we’ve mentioned, it’s a love-it-or-leave-it dessert with not many opinions in between. Our DFB team is divided about it, but those of us who love it are celebrating! Pongu Lumpia at Pongu Pongu OH, and FYI — if you’re on the West Coast, you’ll soon be able to experience the Pineapple Lumpia in all its glory on a regular basis! The lumpia is coming to Disneyland’s Tropical Hideaway very soon! See details here! Want to stay informed of ALL the Disney News?? Sign Up for the Disney Food Blog Newsletter and don’t miss a thing! Strap in, humans, for an inside look at the Monster world. Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue! at Disney California Adventure park takes guests on a taxi tour of Monstropolis on the very day that a human child happens to get loose in the city. Come take a closer look at Mike and Sulley’s world! In the Monstropolis Transit Authority Terminal, where humans queue up for their taxi tours of the city, check out the vending machine snacks. Monsters craving Drooler Cooler, Primordial Ooze or a Bag O Calories can grab a satisfying treat made for monster appetites. Once in the taxi, one of the first things visitors will see is Mike Wazowski and his girlfriend, Celia, enjoying a romantic night in Mike’s convertible. Count the five snakes that make up Celia’s hair – their names are Ameilia, Ophelia, Octelia, Bobelia and Madge. Celia’s snakes tend to reflect how she’s feeling. In this case, she’s happy to be with Mike! Visitors may also spot the Child Detection Agency storming the scene. The C.D.A. is responsible for keeping human children out of Monstropolis, and are hot on the heels of our heroes, Mike and Sulley. A little known fact is that the director of “Monsters, Inc.,” Peter Docter, voices one of the C.D.A. agents heard on the attraction. Before entering the locker room, check out the bulletin board for important memos and postings – like “The Top Ten Ways to Get Fired” at Monsters, Inc. The number one way? Forgetting to file your paperwork, of course! Mike and Sulley head over to the locker room with Boo, just steps away from the scare floor. Mike may have one big eye, but his eyesight is not so good. As a result, he has to wear a contact lens the size of a soup bowl. Can you spot it resting on the locker room bench? Making our way into the door vault, we see Randall Boggs trying to foil Mike and Sulley’s plan to get Boo home. Don’t forget to look up and around though! The door vault has 236 individual doors, including Boo’s. There may even be a visit from a friendly monster with a yummy frozen treat. At long last the taxi returns to the Monstropolis Transit station, where Roz sends visitors off. We hope you enjoyed your visit to the city of Monstropolis! The famous Poison Apple has been casting its spell in Disney World and Disneyland over the past several years during Halloween in several forms from Poison Caramel Apples, to Poison Apple glow cubes, to a new Not-So-Poison Apple Cupcake. And this year, you can scare up the latest incarnation in Disney World’s Animal Kingdom: it’s the Green Poison Apple Stein! Green Poison Apple Stein Though in previous years the stein has been available in red, the green is making its debut in Animal Kingdom. We spotted ours at Mahindi (also known by its previous name, Harambe Popcorn), but it should be available at various outdoor snack locations throughout the park. Green Poison Apple Stein sign at Mahindi Disneyland guests will also be able to conjure up the Green Poison Apple Stein this year. We spotted the Light Up Cauldron Premium Popcorn Bucket (complete with a Hidden Mickey) at Mahindi, too! Cauldron Premium Popcorn Bucket And though in Disney World the Green Poison Apple Stein was only announced for Animal Kingdom when the Halloween Souvenirs were revealed for this year, the Cauldron Bucket is appearing in all four Disney World parks and Disney Springs. We first saw it at the Main Street, U.S.A. Popcorn Cart in Magic Kingdom! Magic Kingdom Cauldron Popcorn Bucket for Halloween 2018 The Cauldron will be available in Disneyland for Halloween Time, too. Disney food friends, this is an urgent message — an urgent PIZZA message for those visiting Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom between now and September 5! You must make your way to Pinocchio Village Haus for a truly awesome flatbread that a cast member tells me will only be available until next week! Pinocchio Village Haus The Bacon Macaroni and Cheese Flatbread is the flatbread of the month at Pinnochio Village Haus. It starts with a crispy flatbread crust and is topped with sour cream, macaroni and cheese, three cheese blend, chives, and crumbled bacon bits! Bacon Macaroni and Cheese Flatbread This is a seriously delicious — and seriously filling — flatbread that combines some of my favorite things! The sour cream is an inspired choice of “sauce” that gives the whole thing a tangy, addictive quality (as if the three cheese blend and bacon weren’t irresistible enough!). But even if you’re not a huge Sour Cream fan, the whole thing blends together so well that it won’t stand out to you. Bacon Macaroni and Cheese Flatbread The macaroni and cheese is made with soft elbow noodles that contrast with the crispy crust (baked to golden brown!) and the chewy bacon bits. Bacon Macaroni and Cheese Flatbread The whole thing is basically a savory delight, complete with the bright green chives which provide a welcome, fresh respite from the intensely (ahhh-mazingly) salty, cheesy flatbread. Bacon Macaroni and Cheese Flatbread This one is SO. GOOD.! I’m bummed that this seasonal flatbread will be gone on September 5 because it’s something I would totally get again and again if it was a permanent part of the menu. Here’s hoping it’s popular enough to become a recurring special addition! Don’t Miss Out on the ALL the Best Snacks Walt Disney World Has to Offer!
