A smorgasbord of merchandise awaits guests at the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival now through Nov. 12, 2018. Throughout the celebrated 75-day event, guests will have a chance to meet their favorite celebrity chefs, try a new Food & Beverage Pairing in the Festival Center each Friday through Sunday, and get their gourmet groove on at nightly Eat to the Beat Concert Series shows. This year, special event merchandise invites “foodies” to bring home merchandise that is useful around the kitchen. “Products are both commemorative and functional,” explained Cathy Dawson, Product Developer for Merchandise Special Events. “These items will assist guests with recreating the tasting-around-the-world experience at home especially when paired with a Festival cookbook.” From tabletop to kitchen products, artwork on many cream-and-wine colored items show Chef Mickey Mouse exploring the Festival. New merchandise includes a ceramic pie plate, wooden pepper mill, bottle-shaped cutting board, and a serving dish that gives a nod to the one and only Mouse. Beloved artwork from last year’s event returns on new merchandise. Foodie Figment shares his culinary love on apparel, drinkware, and coasters; while Chef Remy from Disney•Pixar’s “Ratatouille” appears on aprons, kitchenware, ornaments and more. “The [Figment and Remy] merchandise was a tremendous hit with guests last fall, so it was important we include them in this year’s assortment. The Remy-themed measuring spoons look adorable, and they are useful for would-be chefs,” continued Cathy. For craft beer lovers, the “Brews Around the World” collection features must-have apparel, barware, and accessories. Grab a coaster that doubles as an opener or display favorite bottle caps on a lettered sign. Guests planning the perfect outfit for a stroll around World Showcase can pair trendy apparel, such as a Spirit Jersey or cork-inspired headband, with a stylish handbag by Dooney & Bourke. Annual Passholders will discover an exclusive handbag design along with several other treasures including a Raglan T-shirt, drinkware, and a limited release pin shaped like Spaceship Earth. Pin collectors will delight with limited edition pins of kitchen-inspired scenes, from Snow White baking a personalized pie for Grumpy to Timon and Simba enjoying grubs. A four-pin set offers an easy way to add a splash of the Festival to any outfit. Look for these items and more, including the fan-favorite Remy’s Ratatouille Hide & Squeak scavenger hunt, at the Festival Center located adjacent to Mission: SPACE, and in select merchandise locations throughout Epcot. Tonight’s “After Dark” image was snapped at Shanghai Disneyland at dusk. Here, the lovely sky and the park’s amazing Enchanted Storybook Castle light up the horizon. The park’s castle features four magnificent mosaics that depict the tales of Tiana, Merida, Rapunzel, and Elsa & Anna. Inside, guests have plenty to do and see, including dining at Royal Banquet Hall, greeting Disney characters, and undergoing their own transformations at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique. If you’re visiting Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe in Magic Kingdom’s Tomorrowland, you may want to utilize Mobile Order while you’re there. Cosmic Ray’s Sign Why? Because the service — which allows you to pre-order and pre-pay for your food at select Counter Service restaurants — can be quite the timesaver. Cosmic Ray’s, in particular, though, seems to always have a little Mobile Order special up its sleeve. For instance, this morning we shared the latest Mobile Order Secret Menu item at Cosmic Ray’s with you: Galaxy Loaded Fries. Galaxy Loaded Fries screenshot But we couldn’t resist giving them a try, too! After all, they’re the latest in the line of cheese puff-topped snacks currently taking over Disney World! Galaxy Loaded Fries Yep, the Galaxy Loaded Fries are topped with bacon, pico relish, garlic ranch sauce, and cheese sauce… PLUS more than just a “dusting” of Flaming Hot Cheese Dust! Galaxy Loaded Fries The bright red hue sure makes these look like something Sonny Eclipse himself — your singing host at Cosmic Ray’s — would enjoy! Galaxy Loaded Fries The bacon, ranch and cheese sauce — and even the pico, in a way — resemble another Magic Kingdom dish… Loaded Plaza Fries (also known as Figaro Fries) at the Plaza Restaurant. So thanks to the Loaded Plaza Fries, we’ve established that ranch, cheese sauce, tomato, and bacon already make a solid combo. Galaxy Loaded Fries And, surprisingly, the Flaming Hot Cheese Dust is a fun complement to the mix! Now, we know everyone defines spicy differently based on tolerance levels, but we didn’t find the “dust” to be all that flaming hot. It was more of a fun accent to the bunch (it also helped that the pico relish was pretty tasty, to boot). Galaxy Loaded Fries Things do tend to change on the Mobile Order Secret Menu for Cosmic Ray’s with some frequency, so get the Galaxy Loaded Fries while you can if you’d like to try them! But if you miss these, be sure to check Mobile Order to find out what’s next when you’re at Cosmic Ray’s! Find out how to use Mobile Order in Disney World here! Don’t Miss Out on Any Disney Details! And for guests who want to plus-up their HalloWishes experience, there’s the HalloWishes Dessert Party! Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party Now you know I like a dessert party, having enjoyed the Happily Ever After Dessert Party — once for the before fireworks experience and once for the after party. And we’ve been getting a LOT of reader questions about the HalloWishes edition of the Magic Kingdom dessert party. So while I didn’t attend the HalloWishes Dessert Party this year, I had to grab some pics for you! Luckily the cast members were kind enough to let me take a few shots! HalloWishes Fireworks Dessert Party Here is a photo tour of the HalloWishes Dessert Party treats! Most of them will look familiar because they’re smaller versions of the tasty treats we tried during Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party back on its first night! First up: Worms ‘n Dirt! (This is basically chocolate pudding, chocolate cake crumbles, gummy worms, and a Master Gracey white chocolate tombstone!) Worms ‘n Dirt These are a familiar contribution to a Disney dessert party: Chocolate-Covered Strawberries! But in this case, they’re spookified with Halloween sprinkles. Chocolate-Covered Strawberries with Halloween Sprinkles You already know how I feel about this Poison Apple Cupcake. If not, peep the DFB Instagram! Poison Apple Cupcake Totally cute Oogie Boogie Meringues! Oogie Boogie Meringue Madame Leota is back as a tart here as well (minus the cool crystal globe that you get when you purchase the full size edition at Liberty Square Market). Jack Skellington Cupcake And some classic chocolate bark that’s ready for it’s Halloween close up! Halloween Chocolate Bark And finally: Doom Buggy Puffs. Doom Buggy Puff The HalloWishes Fireworks Dessert Party takes place at Tomorrowland Terrace, just as the Happily Ever After parties do. The cost is $84 for guests 10 and up and $50 for guests 3-9 years old. So it’s not cheap — particularly since you’ve already paid for the party. Jack-Jack has escaped again – this time to Costa Mesa, California! Overnight on Aug. 31, the Disneyland Resort Design & Engineering team took 8,900 ordinary canned goods and transformed them into a towering 10-foot Jack-Jack and his cookie num nums from Disney∙Pixar’s “Incredibles 2” for the 11th annual CANstruction Orange County. Disney VoluntEARS designed Jack-Jack over a six-month period. He will be on display at South Coast Plaza in September before the food is donated to the Orange County Food Bank. CANstruction Orange County features the creative structures of local architectural design firms, and the design-build competition also takes place at John Wayne Airport and the Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center (ARTIC). “We utilize the talents of graphic designers, architects, engineers and we develop some other specialized skills to accomplish our finished sculpture,” said Andy Flores, an associate engineer at Disneyland Resort. The competition is a unique way to give back. “Could we just donate a huge pile of cans? Sure. But doing it this way – it increases public awareness. It shows people how big the need really is, and hopefully, we can make a bigger difference than just the cans we donate,” said Disneyland Resort Staff Engineer Tim Angers. Supporters can vote for their favorite structures online for $1 per vote with proceeds going to the Orange County Food Bank. Over the past 11 years, Disneyland Resort has provided the OC Food Bank with more than 69,000 meals for the local community through CANstruction Orange County. “Disney cast members have helped educate people about the issue of hunger in a creative and compelling manner through magical and visually stunning structures that have entertained people,” said Mark Lowry, director of the OC Food Bank. “Most importantly, they have provided additional food to expand the capacity of the OC Food Bank to combat hunger.” To vote for your favorite CANstruction Orange County structures, visit: http://canstructionoc.org/vote/ View the full article

Heigh Ho from Pinocchio Village Haus in Fantasyland! This Magic Kingdom Counter Service spot features an Italian menu served up in Old World German architecture. (You can read a little more about the story behind the setting here.) Pinocchio Village Haus The primary focus on the menu is an assortment of Flatbreads with traditional topping options like Pepperoni, Sausage, and Caprese. But the featured Flatbread of the Month has brought some unexpected hits like November’s Thanksgiving Flatbread and last month’s ridiculously yummy Bacon Macaroni & Cheese Flatbread. So we wanted to let you in on September’s Featured Flatbread: it’s Scrambled Egg Flatbread! Scrambled Egg Flatbread Topped with scrambled eggs, cheddar cheese, bacon, and sausage gravy, it further proves that you can expect the unexpected when it comes to the Featured Flatbread at Pinocchio Village Haus! Another fun find at Pinocchio’s is the new Seven Dwarfs Mine Train Souvenir Mug. (Now you know where that “Heigh Ho” greeting came from!) Seven Dwarfs Mine Train Mug It’s served with your choice of fountain beverage for $10.28 or a Frozen Slush for $13.48. Amorette’s Patisserie in Disney Springs’ Town Center is helping us welcome fall with some sweet treats perfect for the harvest and Halloween seasons! Amorette’s Patisserie This trip to Amorette’s included the Fall Harvest Petit Cake and a too-cute Mickey Pumpkin Macaron. Just as with all the baked goods here, besides looking picture perfect, they were delicious as well. Fall Harvest Petit Cake The Fall Harvest Petit Cake was introduced this week as part of Disney Springs’ WonderFall Flavors program. Fall Harvest Petit Cake This Petit Cake is made up with a cinnamon and nutmeg chiffon cake, layered with Calvados salted caramel mousse, cranberry cherry pate de fruit, and roasted hazelnuts. The description alone screams “fall”, and the taste didn’t disappoint. Fall Harvest Petit Cake You can see the layers of cake are clearly defined with the layers of mousse. The crunch of the hazelnuts offered a different texture and also helped cut the sweetness of the cake. The cranberry cherry pate de fruit is a perfect reminder of Thanksgiving dinner. The flavors really combine together well to create a balanced, and not-to-sweet indulgence. And while the flavors of the Petit Cake reminded us of Thanksgiving dinner, this Mickey Pumpkin Macaron reminded us 100% of pumpkin pie. Mickey Pumpkin Macaron Mickey Pumpkin Macaron The flavors were pumpkin pie spice and with a hint of caramel. We did find that on a humid Central Florida day the chocolate ears and face didn’t last too long! BOO from Prince Eric’s Village Market in Magic Kingdom’s New Fantasyland! Prince Eric’s Village Market Does that seem like an odd greeting from this location themed to The Little Mermaid (and located directly across from the Under the Sea — Journey of the Little Mermaid attraction)? Well, let me explain… Prince Eric is currently serving up Witch’s Frozen Brew — along with a few other new items — for the season! Prince Eric’s Village Market Menu Guests have long been able to grab a refreshing frozen slush at Prince Eric’s. But the Witch’s Frozen Brew takes two frozen slush favorites — Frozen Lemonade AND Frozen Coca-Cola — and swirls them with a whole bunch of the spot’s recently added flavored syrups! Witch’s Frozen Brew The included flavors from the recently added selections are Monin Cherry, Granny Smith Apple, Watermelon, and Red Passion Fruit Syrups. Witch’s Frozen Brew The flavors are layered (before they start to blend by melting, that is) moving from tart to fruity to super sweet… all in one drink! And it’s so fun how the Coca-Cola layer on top makes it look as though the witch’s brew is bubbling over. Witch’s Frozen Brew Also new to the menu is a rather unexpected Sweet Thai Chili Shrimp. Sweet Thai Chili Shrimp Served cold, this dish tops the shrimp with vegetable slaw and a ginger vinaigrette. The poached shrimp are seasoned with salt and lemon, and tossed in a chili mayo and garnished with black sesame seeds. Sweet Thai Chili Shrimp The chili mayo may sound spicy, but it really offers just the slightest hint of heat, while the airy, textured puffs (similar to a rice puff) lend no flavor and offer a nice, simple crunch instead. Overall, the chilled dish ends up being suprisingly refreshing while Orlando’s hot temperatures hold strong throughout September. And look what else swam in! Remember the impending arrival of the Mermaid Donut we mentioned a few weeks ago? It’s here! Mermaid Donut White chocolate “treasures from Ariel’s Grotto” and sprinkles top the cake donut and purple icing for your Little Mermaid fan (or for your Instagram). It’s well worth keeping an eye out for the latest offerings at Prince Eric’s Village Market, where they’ve proved once again that you never know quite what you’ll find! You’ll find Prince Eric’s Village Market in Magic Kingdom’s New Fantasyland. Take a Food Tour to see ALL the eats in the area in our DFB YouTube Video! It has been a whole week since Aella (pronounced eye-la), a two-month-old Masai giraffe joined her mom Lily on the Kilimanjaro Safaris savanna for the first time, and she’s drawing lots of “ooohhs” and “ahhhs” from guests who spot her during their safari adventure. Aella is a welcome addition to the herd, and her arrival marks another success for our dedicated animal care team. Aella’s parents – Lily and George – were chosen to breed through the Species Survival Plan (SSP), which is overseen by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums and ensures responsible breeding of threatened and endangered species. Our cast members are equally as excited as our guests when seeing Aella – in fact, some even get emotional because they develop strong bonds with the animals they care for and the ones they see each day. One great example is Kelly Waldo, a Wild Africa Trek excursion guide. Each day, Kelly takes guests on an exclusive tour of the savanna, sharing fun facts about the animals and how Disney is helping save them in the wild. She also takes lots of photos – both of the animals and the Wild Africa Trek guests. One of her favorite subjects is Lily, the first giraffe she could identify from the patterns on her chest. Kelly was there the first day Aella started exploring the savanna, and it was a moment she will never forget. View the full article

Do you ever feel like your park adventures belong in a video shoot? Well, I do! So I grabbed some fellow cast member friends and set out to capture the best Walt Disney World Resort experiences for young adults. And let me tell you – there are plenty! Over the next few weeks, I’ll show you how my friends and I have fun at Walt Disney World Resort. From exciting rides, to yummy snacks and even pool-side relaxation, we have found our #HappyPlace right here! Our first adventure took us through the Himalayan mountains, across the African savannah and to a beautiful land with floating mountains at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Next, we headed to Epcot, feeling like world travelers. Full speed ahead we took a spin on Test Track, which is personally one of my favorites! Then, we made our way through World Showcase. There even was a guacamole toast! (Yes, that’s a thing now, guys.) Next week we’ll take you to a tropical isle! Did someone say, “private cabana?” View the full article

Want to magically transform into a wine glass painter? Then you’ll want to know about a new event happening every Thursday throughout September at the BoardWalk’s AbracadaBar: Wine Glass Painting! And we’re happy to say that the design for the wine glasses is inspired by the 2018 Epcot Food and Wine Festival! Screenshot of @wdwtoday Tweet for Wine Glass Painting Details are as follows: Wine Glass Painting will be held every Thursday throughout September from 1:00 – 3:00 pm. Pre-registration is available by visiting BoardWalk Inn’s Community Hall (accessible by boat or via walkway from Epcot). The event includes a drink, snacks, and two wine glasses to paint, according to responses from the @wdwtoday Twitter account. @wdwtoday on Twitter While Disney only mentions September offerings for this experience’s debut, the use of the phrase “this month” in the @wdwtoday tweet (hopefully!) indicates that perhaps more opportunities will be on the way if this event is a success.
