Ever wanted to guarantee the PERFECT day at Disney World? Your favorite foods, your favorite rides, a private car whisking you from park to park through backstage access? Your dreams are coming true… . A new V.I.P. Tour is now open for booking for Walt Disney World guests: the completely customizable World of Dreams Tour! Cinderella Castle Based on our discussion with Disney World VIP Tour cast members, the inclusions are like no other… in fact, the tour is so customizable that interested guests can work with planning partners beforehand to plan their “dream day” — accommodating a party of up to six guests — in Disney World. This could include experiences in any (or even more than one) of the four theme parks such as a pre-park opening photo shoot in Toy Story Land or even a tour of the Suite in Cinderella Castle. From attractions to dining in some of Disney World most popular restaurants (with meals and snacks included in the price), this tour can also potentially include hard-to-get access to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge when it opens this fall in Disney World. ©Disney from @DisneyParks on Twitter And, yes — private, inter-park transportation is included! But what is the cost, you ask? $12,000 for the first day, and $10,000 for additional days. Plus tax. How does this differ from a regular VIP tour? While regular private VIP tours in Disney World can get verrrry pricey, they haven’t hit $1,000 per hour…yet. So you know this tour is going to go above and beyond what was previously the highest-end offering bookable by regular guests. The weird part? Park tickets aren’t included! Nope…so that’ll be $12,000 PLUS the cost of park tickets for you and your family or friends. So, whaddya think? Start your day with a pre-park opening photo shoot at Cinderella Castle followed by a few rides on Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance? And that’s only the beginning… . Walt Disney loved to travel! Getting ready to share with you all of the highlights of the proposed Disney’s Riviera Resort, I’ve been able to dive in and learn so much about Walt’s love for Europe and its rich stories, art and music created by so many “masters.” I also learned how deeply the Disney we know and love today is impacted by Walt’s travels to that region of the world. My research into Walt and all things Europe began while sailing on the Disney Dream for the Disney Vacation Club Member Cruise this summer and meeting the delightful director of the Walt Disney Archives, Becky Cline. In just a few short minutes, Becky enthusiastically filled me in on some amazing details of what is now referred to as Walt’s “Grand Tour of Europe in 1935,” and how much Walt deeply loved his travels there with his family. That was also the first I learned that Walt had shipped back 300 books that inspired many of our beloved animated tales, including the Italian children’s classic “Pinocchio,” and English classics “Alice in Wonderland” and “Peter Pan.” Becky shared with me several books that have been written on these European visits that became such beautiful inspiration for Walt and the projects he was working on. In Dr. Robin Allan’s book, “Walt Disney and Europe,” we learn that every visit culminated in either returning from Europe with new storybooks that would inspire film projects for Disney Animation or would even simply inspire the artists and writers Walt worked with. Either way, Europe continued to serve as a source of inspiration for Walt and for Disney films. And in Didier Ghez’s book ,“Disney’s Grand Tour: Walt and Roy’s European Vacation, Summer 1935,” he lists all of the books Walt sent back from that tour, and goes even deeper including Roy and Edna’s diary excerpts of that magical trip. Another of my favorites on all things Walt, Europe and travel is Disney aficionado Jeff Kurtti’s new book, “Travels with Walt Disney: A Photographic Voyage Around the World.” Seeing all of the enthusing images throughout Jeff’s book, of Walt and his family in so many locations around the world including the European Riviera, made the stories I’d been reading about Walt’s travels come to life. Now, you might ask, ”What does all of this have to do with the all-new Disney’s Riviera Resort slated to be the 15th Disney Vacation Club resort?” I’m so glad you asked! Walking into this resort, you will be surrounded by the elegance of a modern European retreat, as if you were entering the same in Europe today and will experience the blended touch of old-world glamour, as Walt may have experienced on his grand journeys. And here, at this upcoming resort at Walt Disney World, you’ll have the opportunity to be immersed in Disney charm with all of the stories and food and art that were inspired by Europe and now imagined by Disney — and it all goes back to the inspiring travels of Walt Disney himself! Our Walt Disney Imagineering partners say it best: Disney’s Riviera Resort pays tribute to Walt and Lillian’s European travels, and connects Disney artistry and storytelling to the region’s renowned art heritage. It’s a resort that will transport Disney Vacation Club members and guests across the ocean to Southern Europe, to an elegant, modern and relaxing destination that feels at home along the world-famous Mediterranean coastline. Over the next several weeks we’ll share more with you about what you can expect with your stay at Disney’s Riviera Resort. Hope you’ll grab an espresso and read along! What are you most excited about experiencing at this beautiful new resort? View the full article

Watching candy artisan Chef Wenbo Zhang create his intricate and delectable candies is a show that truly combines visual, culinary, and performing arts. Traveling from Henan Province in China to perform exclusively at this year’s Epcot International Festival of the Arts, Chef Zhang is skilled in the traditional Chinese edible folk art of Sugar Painting and handcrafting Dragon’s Beard Candy. Both of these sugar arts date back thousands of years, with the expertise being passed down through apprenticeships from generation to generation. For Sugar Painting, Chef Zhang uses a small ladle to meticulously drizzle melted sugar on to a marble slab to “paint” your choice of an animal – real or imagined. Just prior to hardening, a stick is imbedded in the sugar making it the most artful and elaborate lollipop you have ever seen or tasted! Crafting Dragon’s Beard Candy is a tedious and extensive process where small batches of corn syrup are boiled, cooled, then carefully and slowly stretched creating hundreds of thin threads. The resulting threads are then wrapped around various fillings such as coconut shavings, sesame seeds, chocolate or, as Chef Zhang will be doing for the Festival, crushed peanuts and walnuts. How did this candy get its unusual name? Legend has it that during the Han Dynasty, an imperial chef “performed” for the emperor by making this new candy. The strands of this candy reminded the emperor of a dragon’s beard. As dragons were the symbol of the emperor, these sweet treats were originally restricted only to the ruling class. Chef Zhang will be demonstrating his incredible talent on select days throughout the Festival at the China pavilion. The Dragon’s Beard candy is crafted in small batches by Chef Zhang so quantities will be limited. Due to the time-consuming preparation needed for these unique candies, the demonstrations will be on alternating dates. Be sure to check your Festival Times Guide for performance times so you can experience (and taste) these edible works of art. We just shared photos of the reusable bags which have arrived in both Disneyland and Disney California Adventure in Disneyland Resort. And today we’re taking a look at the bags which have arrived in Walt Disney World, specifically for Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Reusable Bag for Disney’s Hollywood Studios These park-specific bags arrived as part of Disney’s commitment to reducing single-use plastics around Disney destinations worldwide. They are available in the guest’s choice of size for a $1.00 – $2.00 price range. Reusable Bag for Disney’s Hollywood Studios The design for the Hollywood Studios bag also features tributes to the park entrance, Toy Story Land, and an AT-AT Walker… and a certain famous Mouse. Reusable Bag for Disney’s Hollywood Studios A couple of things to note: first, we visited Magic Kingdom today as well, where there were no signs of the reusable bags just yet. And we also want to share that the Disney Parks plastic bags — as of our visit today — were still available for guests.
