Today StarWars.com has announced even more books and comics coming our way as “we prepare to make our first pilgrimage to the fringes of Wild Space and journey to the planet of Batuu, when Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opens” in Disneyland this summer and Hollywood Studios this fall! ©Disney from @DisneyParks on Twitter These stories will introduce us to Dok-Ondar, reveal why General Leia Organa is interested in Black Spire Outpost, and invite us into more stories set on the Outer Rim. Dok-Ondar Concept Art shared at Destination D event in November From the Star Wars website: “StarWars.com is pleased to announce the first six titles that will help introduce fans to the planet of Batuu.” Marvel Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Miniseries Written by Ethan Sacks with art by Will Sliney, Issue #1 of the Marvel Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Miniseries will be released on April 24, 2019. ©StarWars “Black Spire Outpost has long been frequented by smugglers, merchants, and travelers from every corner of the galaxy looking to make their score on the infamous black market — or experience the exotic thrills the remote world of Batuu alone has to offer. Aliens like the infamous Dok-Ondar, a proprietor of rare and one-of-a-kind antiquities, thrive on the unique opportunities which abound on the lawless outpost at the very edge of Wild Space.” Black Spire Written by Delilah Dawson, this novel — a “prequel to the Disney Parks experience” — will be released on September 3, 2019. ©StarWars In it, “General Leia Organa dispatches her top spy to Batuu in a desperate search for Resistance allies.” A Crash of Fate Written by Zoraida Cordova, this Young Adult novel will be available starting August 6, 2019. ©StarWars “Izzy and Jules were best friends until Izzy’s family abruptly left Batuu when she was six. Now she’s back, and Jules, the boy who never left, is unsure what to make of her. While on the run from vengeful smugglers and an angry pirate, the two friends will come to terms with who they are, and what they mean to each other.” Star Wars: Myths & Fables Written by George Mann, this middle grade novel will be released on August 6, 2019. ©StarWars “The book features two stories that take place on the remote Outer Rim world of Batuu, plus many other untold tales from the edge of the galaxy, lushly illustrated in a style that pays homage to real-world children’s classics.” StarWars.com shares an excerpt from the book here! More to Come Additional upcoming titles will include a Galaxy’s Edge kids comic AND an official Galaxy’s Edge cookbook! The cookbook will feature “some of the exotic cuisine created for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge as well as dishes drawn from the saga’s history, written for home cooks of all ages and skill levels by Chelsea Monroe-Cassel.” So… are you ready to explore Batuu? As we check out the new park-specific reusable bags which have arrived at merchandise locations in both Disneyland and Walt Disney World, today we’re taking a look at the Epcot reusable bag. Epcot Reusable Bag Along with Spaceship Earth as seen above, aspects of the park represented in this design include World Showcase and Mission: Space. Epcot Reusable Bag As with the other reusable bags, such as those you’ll now find at Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom, three sizes are available ranging from $1.00 – $2.00 in price. Epcot Reusable Bags Just a note on the status of the plastic single-use bags: as of our visit today, their availability remains the same as what we’ve experienced so far at the other parks. Guests are still receiving their items in the plastic bags. Of course, as Disney is commited to reducing single-use plastics around Disney destinations worldwide, we do anticipate that this will change, and we’ll keep you posted when it does. The 1970 Disney film “The Aristocats,” tells the story of Duchess and her kittens and the adventure they go on when they meet O’Malley the alley cat. In today’s Doodle, Ashley envisions the whole gang stopping at Jellyrolls dueling pianos at Disney’s BoardWalk for some musical fun. “I love when Toulouse and Berlioz play the piano together! We’re back with another churro review from Disneyland Park and its on-going Get Your Ears On and Valentine’s Day celebration! The Burning Love Valentine’s Churro is available at churro carts near Haunted Mansion and Splash Mountain. Burning Love Valentine’s Churro This is a Sweet and Spicy Red Sugar Churro with Double The Love Cream Cheese Frosting. To us, it tasted like the churro is coated in powdered Hot Tamales, so if you’re a fan of those, you’ll want to try this. Burning Love Valentine’s Churro The cream cheese frosting dip is usually a big hit for us, but this one is mixed with rum (per the cast member we spoke with!), and it just didn’t work as well. Burning Love Valentine’s Churro Still photogenic, though! And we can see how the dip and churro provide a pleasant contrast in flavors (and colors!). Burning Love Valentine’s Churro If you love hot cinnamon candies and/or sweets that are infused with rum, this is worth the try! But for us, we just weren’t that into it. See ALL Our Reviews in One Place! Head over to our Get Your Ears On Disneyland Food Reviews page for all the goodness! We previewed ALL the amazing Get Your Ears On treats at Disneyland! On Jan. 26, more than 300 volunteers from the Disneyland Resort, city of Anaheim, Anaheim Family YMCA and the community joined KaBOOM! to build a playground with accessible play features for children with disabilities in just six hours at Barton Park in Anaheim, California. The new playground is the 11th Disney-sponsored KaBOOM! playground in Anaheim, and Anaheim’s first ramped playground for children with disabilities. The new playspace includes unique equipment and accessibility features that allow children to play together regardless of ability, including a merry-go-round style device called a Unity Spinner with seatbelts for wheelchairs. Other accessible features include accessible swings and a new-age teeter-totter called a Teeter Tunnel that includes a feature to help children transfer out of a wheelchair and onto the teeter. Numerous features also were included for visually impaired children such as braille panels. The idea of adding accessible play features to this playground came from Disneyland Resort cast members in the CastABLE diversity resource group. CastABLE is one of several diversity resource groups at the Disneyland Resort that makes sure the experiences that Disneyland Resort provides are inclusive and relevant. “This event is a great example of why all of us at the Disneyland Resort are so proud to call Anaheim home,” said Josh D’Amaro, president of the Disneyland Resort. “The collaboration between nonprofit organizations, the city of Anaheim, the Disneyland Resort and local residents is truly inspiring.” Watch the special playground come together in this video! But fans weren’t the only ones having fun. When they weren’t training, many of the players took advantage of being at the most magical place on earth, especially New York Giants star Saquon Barkley and Denver Broncos star Phillip Lindsay. The two young rookies spent some time at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, experiencing several attractions, munching on some signature dishes and just having the time of their lives.
