Here are a few we thought you should definitely know about! Beer Marshmallows We spotted the House-Made Beer Marshmallows at a pop-up cart located near the Festival Beer Garden! House-Made Beer Marshmallows The Beer Marshmallows are coated in milk chocolate, topped with a pretzel and they are a MUST-HAVE snack when you’re at the Festival! Chocolate Peanut Butter Churro Another pop-up snack cart appeared near Schmoozie’s at Disney California Adventure and that’s where we found another must-buy treat – a Chocolate Peanut Butter Churro. Chocolate Peanut Butter Churro The Chocolate Peanut Butter Churro is a Chocolate Churro topped with a Peanut Butter Cream Sauce, Chocolate Icing, and Chopped Peanuts. If you’re a fan of this flavor combo and churros, you’ll want to grab this snack! Orange Vanilla Coke The latest flavor from Coca-Cola made its debut at Disneyland Resort last week on the first day of the Disney California Adventure Food and Wine Festival and it’s appearing on menus throughout the Festival! Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival officially kicked off today, and if the words “food and wine festival” immediately make you picture massive lines and crowds of people standing between you and your shrimp boil tacos, have we got a tip for you! 2019 Disney California Adventure Food and Wine Festival See all the DCA Food & Wine food booths, menus, and FOOD PHOTOS here! OK get ready to have your Food and Wine mind blown!! Guests can purchase ANY Food & Wine food booth menu item at ANY food booth — then walk up to the booth that serves the dish, hand them your receipt, and skip the line! Shrimp Boil Tacos with Andouille Sausage and Fresh Corn Skip. The. Lines!! We gave this strategy a whirl by ordering our (Craft Brews) Pizza Egg Rolls at Berry Patch (where there was no line), then walked over to Craft Brews and picked them up in thirty seconds. Bypassing that Craft Brews line was magical. Just sayin’. Pepperoni Pizza Egg Rolls with Marinara and Pesto Sauce Also the Pizza Egg Rolls are totally awesome. But even more awesome: this DFB tip, y’all! This strategy is a hold-over from Lunar New Year, where you could do the same thing, but it’s even more useful at Food & Wine, where there are more booths and more people! Do it! According to the Walt Disney World website, there are a few changes in store for the popular Backstage Magic VIP Tour. Cinderella Castle at the Magic Kingdom The 7-hour tour brings guests behind-the-scenes to “receive an up-close look into the artistry, technology, mechanical marvels and backstage secrets that go into producing world-class entertainment.” The experience includes backstage access to The American Adventure attraction in Epcot, the “Utilidor” tunnels constructed underneath Magic Kingdom, a visit to the Costuming Department, and more — including a lunch break at a Disney World table service restaurant. In place of the current lunch at Whispering Canyon Café in Disney’s Wilderness Lodge and a visit to Textile Services, the tour will instead include a visit to Animal Kingdom to get a behind-the-scenes look at what goes into producing the Rivers of Light nighttime spectacular and lunch at Tiffins. The donut cart that resides in front of Sleeping Beauty’s Castle at Disneyland is known for its incredible donut creations — and two new donuts are ready-made to celebrate the royal mouse couple. Disneyland’s Sleeping Beauty Castle The Mickey Mouse Donut is a yeasted donut sliced lengthwise — bagel style. It’s glazed with red and black and topped with two yellow chocolate Mickey buttons! You definitely feel the spirit of the Mouse with this design! Mickey Donut But the real magic is between those donut layers, because that’s where you’ll find a ton of chocolate mousse! Chocolate Mousse!! Chocolate. Mousse. It tastes like a combination of hot chocolate and whipped cream — and it is seriously special. The mousse filled the donut and got into every bite, elevating the otherwise simple donut to the next next level. We’re going to say it: it’s one of the best donuts we’ve had from the Donut Cart. Mickey Donut with magical Chocolate Mousse The Minnie Mouse Donut starts with a yeast donut as well, but it’s not sliced. Instead, there’s a small dip in the middle that’s filled with chopped strawberries. There’s also the ubiquitous white chocolate Minnie bow. Minnie Mouse Donut The strawberries are fresh and complement the glaze (more on THAT in a second), but because they’re so large and separate from the donut — rather than incorporated into it like a jam — it was easier to eat the berries on their own. Strawberries The star of the Minnie Mouse Donut is the glaze, which is strawberry lemonade! You can really taste both the strawberry and the lemonade flavors in the glaze, and it’s delicious. Absolutely the glaze makes the donut. Minnie Mouse Donut The bottom line? The Minnie Mouse Donut is one you can maybe share with a pal, but the Mickey Mouse Donut? NO SHARING! Keep this one all to yourself! Each donut costs 6.50, and there’s no AP discount. DFB Dining Tip: When are donuts actually available at the Donut Cart? But we also want to share with you a little info about when you can get your hands on donuts at the Donut Cart. Typically, the Donut Cart is filled at park opening and again at 5PM. BUT the Mickey and Minnie Donuts will have three “donut drops” (according to the cast member we spoke with): 11AM, 1PM, and 3PM. Believe it or not, there was a line starting at about 10:30Am that grew about ten-deep by 11, when the Mickey and Minnie Donuts arrived. And while donuts here are usually delivered about 24 at a time, there were noticeably more Mickey and Minnie Donuts in the delivery we saw. Donut want to miss out on any Disney Parks news? March 3-9, 2019 is Orange County Restaurant Week! Orange County Restaurant Week features some of the best restaurants in Orange County serving special discounted prix fixe meals for the occasion. And, once again this year, you’ll see a few Disneyland Resort restaurants on the list of participating locations. Guests can search the official Orange County Restaurant Week website to see the full list of participating restaurants, and options can also be searched by price range. Under the $25 Lunch options, you’ll find three restaurants in the Downtown Disney District: Catal Restaurant, Tortilla Jo’s, and Naples Ristorante. Naples Ristorante UVA Bar is included in both the $20 Lunch and the $30 Dinner options. And Steakhouse 55 is featured under the $50 Dinner choices. Happy first day of March! Of course, a new month means a new Hot Diggity Dog of the Month at Magic Kingdom’s Casey’s Corner! Corned Beef Hash Hot Dog And, as the month when we celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, the Hot Diggity Dog is themed accordingly with the Corned Beef Hash Hot Dog! As a reminder, the Featured Hot Dog of the Month can be purchased as a Foot-Long ($13.49) or regular sized ($11.49), both served with fries. Or you can get the specialty toppings on the Loaded Fries of the Month ($6.49). The Corned Beef Hash Hot Dog is topped with crispy potatoes, sautéed corned beef, cabbage, onions, and carrots. And it’s all topped with a drizzle of Blarney Sauce! Corned Beef Hash Hot Diggity Dog of the Month And we were pumped to try it! Unfortunately, though, even with all those toppings… would you believe it lacked flavor? Corned Beef Hash Hot Diggity Dog of the Month From the corned beef, to the crispy potatoes and all the other accompaniments including the Blarney Sauce (which was kind of like a Thousand Island… except without much flavor), it was just lacking in every way. It was disappointing because the ingredients are so promising and we’ve enjoyed other featured Hot Dogs of the Month so much, but this one just didn’t cut it, we’re bummed to say. In October, we celebrated $5 million in grants awarded by the Disney Conservation Fund (DCF) in 2018 to protect the magic of nature around the world. A very exciting part of that was applauding 13 people across the globe as Disney Conservation Heroes for their tireless efforts to save wildlife and inspire communities to take part in conservation projects. In recognition of their dedication, each Hero and the nominating organization will share a $1,500 award. Throughout the year, we will be highlighting the stories of these incredible people on the @DisneyAnimals social media pages, but we wanted to share an example today. One of this year’s awardees is The Gorilla Rehabilitation and Conservation Education Center (GRACE) Team. Located in the Democratic Republic of Congo, the all-Congolese GRACE Team manages the Center’s operations and provides life-saving care to orphaned and Critically Endangered Grauer’s gorillas. Last year, when safety concerns forced the community near GRACE to flee, the GRACE staff decided to stay, risking their personal security to protect the gorillas. Despite facing unimaginable challenges, the GRACE Team remains dedicated to protecting Grauer’s gorillas and engaging their community in saving wildlife. The GRACE Team is just one example of the amazing people being recognized this year as Disney Conservation Heroes. From safeguarding natural resources, to spearheading environmental education programs and protecting species on the brink of extinction, this year’s Heroes have again inspired us through their commitment to going above and beyond to ensure wildlife and wild places are protected in their communities.
