It’s time to make another stop into Disney’s Hollywood Studios where construction continues in earnest on three BIG projects! Plus we’ve got a little merchandise and menu update! Come along with us, superstars! Disney’s Hollywood Studios Entrance Construction There’s progress on construction right at the entrance to Disney’s Hollywood Studios, but there’s a bit of debate about what this will be. Entrance Construction The cast member we spoke to this week said it’s extra bag check space in anticipation of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. But back when construction first began, a different cast member said it was tram drop-off and pick-up. Entrance Construction It’s a significant size, so we’re anxious to see it take shape, and we’ll keep checking with cast members so we can get a consensus on what this will be. Entrance Construction Entrance Construction Disney’s Hollywood Studios Bus Station Progress If you’ve been to Disney’s Hollywood Studios since construction began on the bus station, you know how much everyone is looking forward to these opening up! Bus Station Progress The bus stop now has the classic Hollywood Studios teal paint, highlighting some of the design details. The old Hollywood feel is in keeping with the park entrance. Bus Station Progress Gate numbers are up, as are flags. There are 40 stops spread across four sections. Gondolas are lined up at the Hollywood Studios station still wrapped in their white protective wrapping. Along with ALL THE FOOD arriving today for the 2019 Epcot Flower and Garden Festival, a new menu item has also arrived at Yorkshire County Fish Shop in Epcot’s United Kingdom Pavilion! Yorkshire County Fish Shop Home to the absolute classic Fish & Chips, Yorkshire County Fish Shop is currently also serving a Chicken and Mushroom Pie! You won’t find it on the regular posted menu… at least not yet, anyway. Yorkshire County Fish Shop Menu Instead, the item is currently seen on a pop-up sign. Chicken and Mushroom Pie sign If you read the initial announcement for this item, you’ll also see that there has been a name change from Traditional English Meat Pie to the Chicken and Mushroom Pie served with Chips. Chicken and Mushroom Pie with Chips And the new name is certainly more fitting, both in regards to the pocket style of the pie, as well as the ample filling — positively packed with chunks of chicken and LOTS of mushrooms — tucked inside the crust! Chicken and Mushroom Pie Bits of bacon and leeks along with the cream gravy complete the filling. So, it’s for sure a hearty pie. But the most memorable part is the golden, super buttery crust which adds a ton of flavor and further increases the heartiness factor. A new option for the younger pirates among your crew will make its debut on April 28th when Captain Hook’s Pirate Crew sets sail at Disney World’s Beach Club Resort. Disney’s Beach Club Resort This new kids-only option at this Epcot-area resort will invite guests ages 4-12 to enjoy a boat ride around Crescent Lake while searching for treasure. Young pirates will have a chance to meet none other than Captain Hook and learn a “secret pirate handshake.” Captain Hook The offering will take place from 5:00 – 8:30 PM and dinner will be included. The price for the event will be $55 per child ($58.58 with tax included), with full payment due at time of booking. Note that this event is not currently listed on the Disney World website; however, we were able to find the information and booking services by calling (407) 824-KIDS (5437). We first learned about this new opportunity when a DFB reader informed us that they were suggested this offering as they were unable to book Pixar Play Zone at Disney’s Contemporary Resort during their stay. While our call to Disney could not confirm that Pixar Play Zone will be closing, it is currently the case that hours of operation for Pixar Play Zone do not display (nor are they currently bookable) past March 30, 2019 on the Disney World website. Today’s Disney Doodle stars a character from the 1997 film “Hercules” – Herc’s own pal, Pegasus.
