Ah, Dole Whip…the sweet pineapple-y sensation of Disney parks. We just can’t get enough! Mickey and Minnie Ice Cream Cups And, luckily, Dole Whip can be found just about everywhere in Disney World these days. Find it at resorts and parks in float form, spiked, and even with specialty flavors! And now, if you’re staying at the All-Star Resorts in Disney World, there’s an even EASIER way to get that tasty tropical fix. That’s right, we’ve spotted self-serve Dole Whip machines in the World Premiere Food Court at All-Star Movies Resort. Yum! Self-Serve Dole Whip Remember back in the day when you could self-serve your Dole Whip 24 hours a day at Captain Cook’s in the Polynesian Resort? Well self-serve is back, bb, and we’re so excited! It’s time to study your swirl skills yet again in Disney World! The machines have pineapple, chocolate, and vanilla soft-serve options. You can also swirl vanilla and pineapple or chocolate and vanilla. Dole Whip Self-serve Dole Whip is priced at $7.99 which is pricier than the regular Dole Whip cups you can find elsewhere in Disney World. Adventureland and at Polynesian Resort cups are priced at $4.99. (The price difference may be due to the concern that guests will load a LOT of soft serve into their cups.) The self-serve is also available with the Disney Dining Plan which, at $7.99, makes it a very good use of a Snack Credit. Dole Whip! Stop by the All-Star Food Courts to make-your-own Dole Whip! Oh, and also note that you can often find self-serve Pineapple Soft Serve at Fuel in the Walt Disney World Dolphin Resort! You don’t have to be staying there to access their make-your-own sundae spread, so get on it! What do you think of the new self-serve option for Dole Whip? Let us know in the comments! To kick off the week, we’re celebrating an exciting milestone for Disney Skyliner at the Walt Disney World Resort – 1 million guests magically transported! Since opening just weeks ago, this popular state-of-the-art transportation system has offered a convenient way to get around the Walt Disney World Resort with an extra dash of pixie dust. The beautiful Disney Skyliner gondolas glide across the sky providing amazing bird’s-eye views of the property. And for many of you, the gondolas have already become a popular way to travel to resort locations. Disney Skyliner connects Epcot and Disney’s Hollywood Studios to four Disney resort hotels: Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, Disney’s Pop Century Resort, Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort (and the forthcoming Disney’s Riviera Resort, a Disney Vacation Club resort set to open Dec. 16, 2019). Plus, the Disney Skyliner station at International Gateway at Epcot is conveniently located just a short walk away from Disney’s BoardWalk entertainment district, Disney’s Yacht Club Resort, Disney’s Beach Club Resort and Disney’s BoardWalk Inn. We’re proud to celebrate this exciting milestone for Disney Skyliner and look forward to offering the best transportation experiences to many, many more Walt Disney World Resort guests in the future. As soon as your phone starts giving those pesky Low Battery notifications, you know it’s time to find a place to recharge ASAP. Disney Princess Phone Cases While the FuelRods available for purchase have been a (phone) life-saver, the recent price increase in Disney World has many guests debating whether the portable charger is even worth buying now. In case you’re someone who needs a lil extra battery boost to take more pictures and videos, we’ve got plenty of ways to work around the FuelRod change. FuelRod Update ICYMI, FuelRods stations in Disney World used to be a service where you would pay a one-time fee of $30 for a portable charger and charging cables that you’d get to keep. After the charge got low, you were able to exchange the FuelRod AT NO ADDITIONAL COST at one of many locations around the parks and resorts. You’d get back a fully-charged fuelrod and go about your business. FuelRod Machine However, on November 1st, the rules are changing (sad face). In order to swap your FuelRod, you’ll need to pay $3 for the new charger. For me, the additional cost would mean another $3-$6 per day, easily. And I know that’s the case for many of you as well. Multiply that times 7 days in the parks, and you’re looking at up to nearly $50 in extra cost (in addition to having to find a fuelrod exchange station at the right times). New Price Increase on FuelRod Machine Although we’re disappointed that the FuelRods in Disney are switching things up, there are still plenty of ways to charge your phone in the parks — and they won’t cost you a combined total of $80 when all is said and done. Forget to plug in your phone at the hotel room (we’ve all been there)? Before even setting foot in the parks you can charge your phone with the USB outlets available on many Disney World buses! Sit back, relax, and chill out while your phone gets a boost before heading into Disney for the day. Sensational Six Bus Charging Ports Once you’re in the parks, you can stop by the Disney Guest Relations desk for FREE phone charging services! All you have to do is give them the charging cable and leave your phone with them while you ride your favorite attraction and eat your favorite snacks. Guest Relations will hand you a claim ticket that can be brought back at any time to retrieve your now charged phone! Guest Relations If you want to keep your phone with you throughout the day, there are multiple charging ports around Disney World available for use! Just to name a few, you can use the “hidden” outlets in the tree stumps across from the Tangled Restrooms and the outlets in the gift shop after Space Mountain in Magic Kingdom… Space Mountain Gift Shop …the wall outlets at Star Wars Launch Bay in Hollywood Studios… Star Wars Launch Bay at Disney’s Hollywood Studios …the wooden light posts with 4 outlets attached to their back sides near Expedition Everest in Animal Kingdom… Expedition Everest …and the outlets near the bathrooms between the Germany and Italy pavilions and between the Kringla Bakeri og Cafe and The Fjording gift shop in Norway located in Epcot’s World Showcase. Oh, and those awesome couches in the hallway behind Club Cool have hidden charging ports! There are plenty more charging spots around the parks, and Cast Members would be willing to point out areas that you can find them as well! Kringla Bakeri og Kafe and Puffin’s Roost But we loved being able to charge our phones on the go with the FuelRod, and so we want to be able to give you a good example of a great portable phone charger that’s been our lifesaver again and again — and that packs a bigger power punch than the FuelRod, so it can keep your device charged up all day. While you can get a cheaper portable charger outside the parks, we recommend the Anker PowerCore 10000! Although it’s the same price as the FuelRod, the super reliable Anker PowerCore actually has a longer battery life that can charge a phone over 3 times (wut??)! ©Anker In fact, it can even charge an iPad fully for whenever your little ones need to watch Disney+ during a snack or meal break. Um, pretty awesome, right?! Plus, it’s light and easy to transport. When you get home from the parks, just charge it up at night and you’re ready to go in the morning. ©Anker Even though the FuelRod prices have increased, that doesn’t mean your battery life has to decrease while you’re in Disney World! After all, the Most Magical Place on Earth does come with a few extra ways (and charging spots) to sprinkle pixie dust on your day in parks. On the 12th day of Christmas my true love gave to me…. Beer? Redlight Redlight Sama en Gris at 12 Beers of Christmas We had a wonderful time last year attending the “12 Beers of Christmas Event” hosted by Iron Chef Morimoto himself and held at Morimoto Asia in Disney Springs. And Morimoto Asia JUST announced that the very popular event will return this year! Set to be held on Sunday, December 8th, from 11:30 AM – 3:30 PM, the event will once again feature 12 specialty beers from local breweries all across Central Florida, such as Crooked Can Brewing Company and Rogue Ales. OH, and there will also be 12 food pairing stations…of course! Tickets this year are priced at $64.00 per person (up from the previous $55.00). @Morimoto Asia Morimoto will be on hand to host the event and will be autographing copies of his cookbook Mastering the Art of Japanese Home Cooking, with proceeds going to Orlando’s amazing Give Kids The World Village. This event is an absolute must for beer enthusiasts and — even with the price increase — a terrific value being that you can go back to your favorite booth again and again. We hope they bring back these miniature churros, which were our pick for favorite food from last year! Mini Churros We also loved the super flavorful Duck Ramen and hope it makes a grand return this year! Red Cypress Brewery Spook Hill Pale Ale and Duck Ramen 12 Beers of Christmas is an adults-only event, and you must be 21 or older to attend. Tickets are available now on Morimoto Asia’s website. This week, we were excited to share an update that on December 20 – the same day the film Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker launches, Star Tours – The Adventures Continue will be adding new destinations inspired by the latest episode of the Star Wars saga. In his original post, Tom Fitzgerald shared that in the trailers for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, you caught glimpses of the ocean moon Kef Bir. He said that Starspeeders will be heading there soon! Check out our “Star Tours – The Adventures Continue” post for more details. Also, along with our other Halloween stories, we shared a look at frightful eats at our three Disney Food Trucks at Disney Springs. You’ll spot all three trucks at Disney Springs West Side located right across from Disney’s Candy Cauldron and check the website for operating times as they change daily. You can see more in Kelsey’s original “Frightful Foodie Finds for Halloween at Disney Springs” post. Here are some of the other stories we worked on this week. We’ve all had to deal with the inevitable stress of a phone battery dying in the parks (still makes me sad every time though). Sleeping Beauty Castle with First Snow Fall After all the photo taking, video recording, and DFB website checking, our dwindling batteries have loved the extra boost the FuelRod stations around the park in Disney have given us. And, while the guests in Disney World are already bummed out by the portable charger’s price increase, we’ve got some bad news for folks on the left coast. The FuelRod stations in Disneyland will be experiencing the same price increase as their counterparts in Disney World (whyyyyy?!). Check out the deets on the change in Disney World here! FuelRods are available for guests to purchase not only in the Disney parks, but in airports, malls, and more, and offer an extra lil boost to keep their phone batteries going all day long. The service in Disney has been easy breezy in the past as you’d only need to pay $30 initially for the charger and cables for most phone models. When the charger died, you just had to return it to a FuelRod machine in the parks to exchange it for a fully charged and FREE FuelRod in its place! Awesome, right?! FuelRod Station But, just like the sticker we saw on the machines in Disney World, Disneyland will be changing their FuelRod policy as well. Starting November 1st, the cost will no longer be free for an exchange, but $3 instead (!!!). Yeah, we’re feeling pretty disappointed about this change across both coasts too. FuelRod Station At this point, we highly recommend investing in an Anker charger that you can just bring into the parks and recharge yourself at home or in the hotel. It’s cheaper, and you can get a size with a longer charge. So, the next time you’re in Disneyland, consider bringing an extra portable charger or two on top of charging your FuelRod before park-hopping. Check out more Disneyland Food Reviews Here!! There are some pretty awesome ships in the Star Wars universe. Millennium Falcon in Disneyland’s Galaxy’s Edge From Darth Vader‘s Death Star to Han Solo‘s Millennium Falcon and even Kylo Ren‘s new TIE Silencer in The Rise of Skywalker, the galactic ships are some of the most recognizable settings in the films. And, now there’s a new plane joining the Star Wars fleet, taking flight across North America, Central America, and the Caribbean. While we’ve seen the Stormtrooper Plane from LATAM Airlines and the Falcon from Virgin Atlantic, there is a new Star Wars Plane from United Airlines! ©United Airlines The plane will fly over North America, Central America, and the Caribbean, featuring a blue lightsaber on the tail… ©United Airlines … and an X-Wing and a TIE fighter on the body of the aircraft. The artwork is structured to appear as if the Star Wars ships are gliding towards anybody who spots the plane with the tail number N36272. ©United Airlines The Boeing 737-800 aircraft also comes with a new safety video led by pilots, flight attendants, and Star Wars characters. You can check out the safety video here (it’s preeeetty awesome!). Who wants to try to ride all the Star Wars planes with us?? Will you try to ride the new Star Wars Plane from United Airlines? We totally dig the weird and over-the-top Disney food trends that pop into the parks. Themed Candy Apples While we’ve spotted MASSIVE sundaes, smoke-filled snacks, chocolate covered bacon, and more in Disney World, one underrated spot nestled in Disney Springs is usually ahead of the trend-setting game with their sweet (and sometimes even savory) treats. But, since trends don’t stick around forever, it might be time to say goodbye to some of the creative cotton candy flavors this candy shop has been spinning up. The hand-spun, original cotton candy from Goofy’s Candy Company is currently gone from the store! A Cast Member informed us that the treat has already been unavailable for a few days and that it’s unclear if it will be returning. (Alexa, play sad violin music.) Missing Gourmet Cotton Candy Gourmet flavors like Birthday Cake and Pink Lemonade were only recently joined by a new exciting assortment. Gourmet Cotton Candy Flavors The latest flavors included Sour Apple, Strawberry Banana… New Cotton Candy Flavors …the strong-smelling Root Beer… Root Beer Cotton Candy …the delicious Key Lime… Key Lime Cotton Candy …and the Sweet Mesquite, which reminded us a lot of a sugary BBQ chip. Sweet Mesquite Cotton Candy Although you can get cotton candy in every Disney park, the Goofy’s Candy Company gourmet cotton candy has been unique to the location with interesting flavors for only $5.49. The twist on a classic treat is something both kids and adults could enjoy (especially since they are served fresh). New Gourmet Cotton Candy Flavors And, although the gourmet cotton candy may be back at some point (you never know with Disney), the flavored treat isn’t the only trend that Goofy’s has been setting. Over the past few years, Goofy’s Candy Company has allowed guest to create their own treats… Create Your Own Treat Form (Still thinking about our super chocolatey Rice Krispie Treat…) Custom Mickey Krispie from Goofy’s Candy Co. … debuted movie-themed snacks, like the Luxo Ball Candy Apple… Luxo Ball Caramel Apple …and the Buzz Lightyear Cake Pop… Buzz Lightyear Cake Pops …and even mixed up the boozy Frozen Glaciers with vodka, rum, whiskey, and tequila combined with blue Powerade, lime Hi-C, fruit punch Powerade, and banana slush (which were AH-MAZING!!). Boozy Goofy’s Glaciers While it might be a bittersweet goodbye to the cotton candy trend, there could possibly be a new trend in the works over at Goofy’s Candy Company. Although you can visit different candy shops like the Main Street Confectionery in Magic Kingdom, we highly recommend visiting Goofy’s if you want whacky and whimsical flavors that are two sugary steps ahead of the latest food trends.
