If you are looking for a special, inspiring experience at the Disneyland Resort, look no further than Plaza de la Familia at Disney California Adventure park. This limited-time celebration honors the beloved Pixar film, “Coco,” and the everlasting bonds of family with live entertainment, arts and crafts activities and food! Here’s what’s in store for your visit: “A Musical Celebration of Coco” – A cast of storytellers entertain guests with beloved songs from the film performed by singing host Mateo and the Grammy Award-winning Mariachi Divas. Get transported to the land of the dead with appearances of authentic folklórico dancers and townspeople from “Coco” joined by the adventurous Miguel, who is brought to life in a whimsical style inspired by Mexican folk art! Árbol de la Vida – The iconic Árbol de la Vida—or Tree of Life—is an iconic photo location where you can write down an emotional thought for your loved ones to display on the nearby wall of memories. Photo Memories – New this year, take photos with Miguel when he appears between shows at a beautiful artistic mural entitled “Recuérdame” (“Remember Me”). Named after the iconic song from the film, the evocative mural depicts the themes touched on by the Storytellers of Plaza de la Familia in their show, and celebrates Miguel’s beloved family in Santa Cecilia and the Land of the Dead. Food and Beverages – At Paradise Garden Grill, sample traditional Mexican dishes and sweets—from tacos, tamales and decadent desserts to Mexican hot chocolate and refreshing drinks. The delicious flavors make for a delightful feast! There’s just two weeks left to celebrate the everlasting bonds of family at Plaza de la Familia. Join us now through Nov. 3 at the Disneyland Resort! View the full article

We love visiting Disney World’s Port Orleans — French Quarter Resort for SOOO many reasons! It has gorgeously-stunning grounds, a bunch of statue alligators playing instruments in its main courtyard, and of course, the unfettered access to ALL THINGS Mickey Beignets! And while Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory has been THE only place where you could snag these delicious pillowy pieces of fried dough topped with copious amounts of powdered sugar on Disney World’s property, we’re here to tell ya that they’re no longer on Sassagoula’s MENU! Although these are still showing up on the Sassagoula menu online, they were no longer listed as available on the physical menu at Sassagola Floatworks and Food Factory when we visited today. Sassagoula Floatworks Menu Before you start going into a deprived-of-Mickey Beignets-induced tizzy, please let us put your mind at ease! Mickey Beignets aren’t GONE — they’re still available! And while they’ve left Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory, they haven’t traveled far! Mickey Beignets You can now get your Mickey Beignets at Scat Cat Club’s Cafe which is conveniently still located at Disney’s Port Orleans — French Quarter Resort right next door to Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory! Port Orleans French Quarter Scat Cat’s Club and Cafe Remember when we told you that Dinsey would not only be renovating Scat Cat’s Club but that they’d also be opening Scat Cat’s Club Cafe? Well, this is where you’ll be ordering all your future Mickey Beignets from! And don’t forget — you now have even more Mickey Beignets at your disposal than ever before! We’re talkin’ Specialty Mickey Beignets with your choice of either chocolate, cinnamon sugar, or raspberry flavors! Port Orleans French Quarter Scat Cat’s Club and Cafe Specialty Beignets Find out more about the Scat Cat’s Club Cafe here! And if you’re looking for something a little sweeter, check out the Mickey Beignet Sundae! There’s little we don’t like about Mickey Beignets covered with rich vanilla ice cream drizzled with your choice of sauce (we LOVE the salted caramel!), whipped cream, and a dusting of powdered sugar for measure! YUM! Beignet Sundae And don’t forget that after 11 AM Scat Cat’s Club Cafe starts servin’ up their Boozy Beignets — jazzed up with your choice of Baileys, Kahlúa, or RumChata! Boozy Beignet We’re not sure which Scat Cat’s Club persona we like better — the breakfast cafe or the happen’ Scat Cat’s Club nighttime lounge! At least we know you can get your Beignet on at either! Find out more about the new Scat Cat’s Club Cafè here! What do you think about Disney World’s famous Mickey Beignets moving to a new location? Let us know what you think in the comments section! Disney Cruise Line sponsors Culinary Week 2019 NASSAU, BAHAMAS (October 22, 2019) – In support of its commitment to inspire and educate the next generation of industry professionals, Disney Cruise Line sponsored this year’s Culinary Week at the University of The Bahamas, an event that is vital to the Culinary Arts and Tourism Studies (CATS) curriculum. Disney Cruise Line Food Allergen & Dietary Manager Andrew Bell, alongside other trade professionals, participated in a panel discussion for students that focused on envisioning the future of culinary arts. Bell provided insights into his role at Disney Cruise Line and how Disney combines storytelling with global food trends to create innovative menu offerings for its guests. “I was honored to participate in Culinary Week and applaud the University of The Bahamas for developing these valuable opportunities for its students,” said Bell. “At Disney Cruise Line, we recognize how important it is for students to hear from industry professionals, and I was happy to share my passion for the culinary trade with this group of talented Bahamian students.” During this week-long program held at the University of the Bahamas from Oct. 21-25, students participate in American Culinary Federation sanctioned competitions and certification examinations which hone practical skills and reinforce knowledge attained throughout the year. Additional events designed to highlight how evolving trends shape the future of dining experiences will be held. “We’re grateful for Disney Cruise Line’s sponsorship of this important program,” said Donna Williams, University of the Bahamas CATS chairperson of Culinary Week. “Disney’s support provides our students with the opportunity to learn from experts in their field of study and better develop them for the workforce.” Disney’s participation in Culinary Week is one of many ways Disney Cruise Line is dedicated to helping to develop the next generation of ambitious professionals. Disney Cruise Line recently announced its sponsorship of four scholarships – which includes tuition to the three-year program at the LJM Maritime Academy – for female cadets aspiring to become ship captains and shipboard leaders. Other programs include regular ship tours for Bahamas Maritime Cadet Corps and the sponsorship of maritime-themed summer camps. ### View the full article

Disney doesn’t get much weirder than this! On November 1st, Le Creuset will be releasing a special high-end line of Star Wars-themed cookware! ©Disney x Le Creuset And we’re giving you a sneak peek of a few of the new items — as well as a way to pre-order a few of ’em! Le Creuset is a fancy French manufacturer of cookware that has been around since 1925. They’re probably best known for their Dutch Ovens which can run several hundreds of dollars and while they specialize in super-colorful enameled cast iron bakeware, we haven’t seen this more playful side of Le Creuset until NOW! These Are Not the Dutch Ovens You’re Looking For Check out these adorable Droid Mini Cocottes we spotted from the new Le Creuset x Disney line that are currently available for pre-order online. You can purchase either the BB8 Mini Cocotte, C3P0 Mini Cocotte, or R2D2 Cocotte individually for $30, or all three droids for $90! ©Disney x Le Creuset These Droid Mini Cocottes are much more affordable than many of the other new Le Creuset Star Wars pieces because they’re made out of stoneware instead of cast iron! Cute and reasonably priced? Um, yeah — we’ll take ’em! Click here to preorder the Star Wars Mini Cocottes! Luke, I am Your French Oven If you’re looking to add a little more Dark Side seasoning to your Boeuf Bourguignon, you may want to score the new Darth Vader Cast Iron 5.5 Quart Dutch Oven for $395! ©Disney x Le Creuset The piece features a black cast iron interior with a glossy black enamel exterior and Dark Vader’s mean lookin’ mug on the lid! The Darth Vader Dutch Oven definitely captures the foreboding mood of the Dark Side! Click here to preorder the Darth Vader Dutch Oven! Put a Porg in Your Pie Hole And I don’t know if we’ve ever seen anything as cute (and practical!) as this new Le Creuset Porg Pie Bird for $25. Just look at that sweet little face! ©Disney x Le Creuset Not sure what a Pie Bird is? Well, you stick ’em in the middle of your pie before you bake it, and the steam from pie’s filling comes out of bird’s gaping mouth, and keeps the crust from getting soggy! He even says Le Creuset on the base, making this little guy one posh Porg Pie Bird! Preorder the Porg Pie Bird here! HERE IT IS — The Han Solo in Carbonite Roaster! We’d say, “I love you,” to this Han Solo in Carbonite Roaster, and we’re pretty sure it would cheekily retort, “I know,” because it is THAT FANTASTIC. ©Disney x Le Creuset Prepare your casseroles to make the jump to hyperspace in this intergalactic Cadillac of cast iron bakeware. The Han Solo in Carbonite Roaster can be yours for $450, and we are living for it! ©Disney x Le Creuset While $450 seems close to what a down payment on what the Millenium Falcon might be, nonetheless a pop culture culinary cross over item such as this comes around once in an eon! Currently, the Han Solo in Carbonite Roaster is not available for pre-order, but will be released by Le Creuset online on November 1st. Tatoonie Hand-Painted Dutch Oven And now for the coup de grâce of the collection — this super-limited Tatooine Dutch Oven! ©Disney x Le Creuset The Tatooine Dutch Oven is handpainted and shows the dual suns of Tatooine as the sky turns from a pale shade of pink to a soft blue hue over the arid desert sands. How limited is super-limited? How about 9. Total. Just NINE! Currently, you can sign up for the chance to purchase one on Le Creuset’s website — just make sure you have a spare $900 lying around first! ©Disney x Le Creuset We’ll let you know if we see the new Star Wars Le Creuset pieces available anywhere else, but for now, we’ve only seen a few of the pieces available on the Williams Sonoma website and expect you’ll also be able to order them from Le Creuset online starting November 1st! Will you be buying any of the new Disney x Le Creuset items? Let us know in the comments below! Related posts: Hurry Back! There are few things better in life than spending quality time with your special someone at the Disney parks. You know — that spouse, partner, or friend where you guys finish each other’s…sandwiches? Cinderella Castle If this sounds anything like you and your Disney ride-or-die, then have we got a proposal for you — and it’s a BIG ONE! We’ve crunched the numbers, and have figured out how much it would cost for you and your bestie to embark on an epic journey to four different countries and visit all twelve of the Disney theme parks in one super-legendary ULTIMATE Disney dream vacation! DUN-DUN-DUUUUUN!!!! Disneyland Paris Now before you get salty with us for only figuring out the cost of two adults on this voyage — just know that most people crazy enough to attempt an insane quest like this tend to keep their traveling party pretty small and nimble. It’s going to take quite a while to hit all these places and do so at a leisurely-enough pace so that we’ll actually have the time to enjoy ourselves. Disney World’s Galaxy’s Edge at Night We’ve chosen to kick this trip off in January of 2020 because of off-season pricing (hey, we gotta save money where we can!) That being said, there’s still going to be plenty of ways you can save even more money based on your resort selections, duration of stay, souvenir budget, etc. We’re huge merch nerds, so you’ll see we gave ourselves a HEFTY merch allowance for each stop — when’s the next time we’ll be in all these spots?! Maybe never! But maybe you’d rather spend it on fine dining, upgrades, whatever you enjoy the most — you do you! Sleeping Beauty Castle Our mindset was this: since we’re doing this, we’re going to make our trip a once-in-a-lifetime experience without going TOO over-the-top. If you’re planning your around-the-world Disney trip with a different objective in mind (fastest, most frugal, etc.) the total amount you’ll end up spending may be different. Alright, here’s what our All Twelve Disney Theme Parks Fantasy Vacation looks like — and more importantly, costs! Note that our prices don’t include tax. First Stop: Walt Disney World! Itinerary dates: January 19th – January 25th, 2020 We’ll be packing up our bags and heading off to Walt Disney World in Florida on Sunday, January 19th, where our hypothetical saga begins! Cinderella Castle Now, this first travel bit is going to be super varied for you, but for US to get to Disney World it costs about $71 per person for a one-way non-stop flight from Dallas, TX, our starting point (we’re using Priceline for our airfares, and we’re selecting MOSTLY non-stop flights except for our return flight home). Luckily, Disney World’s Magical Express is free and will shuttle us to and from the Orlando Airport via bus! We’re booking a room for 6 nights at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter. The grounds of this moderate resort are super tranquil and will help to put us in a state of Zen-like bliss; the perfect brainwave for the start of our terrific Disney endeavor! Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter We’ll be visiting the Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom with a six-day Park Hopper ticket. Tree of Life That should give us enough time to hit up everything on our must-do-at-Disney-World list while still allowing us the chance to circle back for a few more rides on Spaceship Earth before it undergoes its transformation! Spaceship Earth Read more about the changes that are coming to Spaceship Earth here! As a general rule going forward, we’re going to have a $125 per person daily food and drink allotment. That should allow us a good amount of leeway to enjoy a couple of quick counter-service meals throughout our trip, along with a bunch of snacks, cocktails, and even a table-service dinner or two peppered in! (We tend to favor coffee and a grab n’ go bite for breakfast, so the bulk of the food budget is for just our lunch and dinner eats each day, plus treats!) The Mickey Celebration Donut Would Make a Great Breakfast to Share With Your BFF! It’s HUGE! We’re also implementing a separate souvenir budget of $300 per person, per location — hey, we warned you it was hefty! If you’re anything like us, you’re going to want to do a little (or a lot!) of shopping along the way (especially in Japan!). If you’re not all that into merch, just treat this budget as extra spending cash or nix it from the budget completely! What World Traveling-Baller Doesn’t Need a Scrooge McDuck Loungefly Backpack? Non-Stop Flight to Disney World (Dallas to Orlando in our example): $71 per person x2 =$142 Bus ride to airport: Free (Magical Express) Six Nights at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter with Six-Day Park Hopper for Two: $2642.80 Food Budget: $125 per person x 6 days x 2= $1,500 Souvenir Budget: $300 per person x 2 = $600 Hollywood Tower of Terror So for a grand total of $4,884.80 we’ll be able to knock out four Disney parks (Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios and Epcot) and have fun doing it! Onto the next stop! Next Destination: Disneyland! Itinerary dates: January 25th – January 29th, 2020 After a week in Disney World, on Saturday the 25th we’ll be on our way to the OG that started it all — Disneyland! We’ll also be swingin’ by Disney California Adventure, too! Sleeping Beauty Castle The cost of a non-stop flight to Los Angeles from Orlando is around $144 per person (last we checked) to fly out in the early AM. From LAX to Disneyland, the average ride-sharing service is $40 one-way. We prefer this method since it’s cheap and convenient, but if you prefer a taxi or shuttle service since unlike Disney World, Disneyland doesn’t provide guests complimentary transportation, any of those would work too. We’re not going to hit the parks the first day we get in — instead, we’re going to check into the Disneyland Hotel and relax for a spell! Disneyland Hotel Monorail Slides Maybe we’ll go for a ride on the monorail waterslides by the pool and we’ll definitely be hitting up Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar for some signature tiki drinks! Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar at the Disneyland Hotel By the morning of the 26th, we’ll be feeling bright-eyed and bushy-tailed again! Time to go to Disneyland! We purchased three-day Park Hopper tickets. Since we’re staying in a Disneyland hotel, we’ll be able to tackle a Magic Morning, allowing us to get into one park an hour early one day of our trip. We’ll be early enough to enjoy a short wait for Radiator Springs Racers and maybe have time to hop back in line AGAIN before the wait gets too long! No Disneyland Vacation is Complete Without a Trip to Radiator Springs! Non-Stop Flight from Orlando to Los Angeles: $144 per person x 2 = $288 Ride-share to and from the airport: $40 x 2 = $80 Four Nights at The Disneyland Hotel with Three-Day Park Hopper for Two: $2706.77 Food Budget: $125 per person x 2 x 4 days = $1,000 Souvenir Budget: $300 per person x 2 = $600 Pixar Pier Our California Disney trip’s grand total is $4,674.77. We’ll have just officially seen every Disney theme park in the United States! Now it’s time to take this vacation international! Next Location: Tokyo Disneyland! Itinerary dates: January 29th – February 4th, 2020 On Wednesday, January 29th we’ll be going to Japan for our next two Disney theme parks — Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea! Tokyo DisneySea Chandu Tail If you’ve never been to the parks in Japan, you’re in for a wonderful treat! DisneySea is one of the most visually stunning Disney parks with its astonishing architecture and large bodies of water scattered throughout its seven ports (a.k.a. “lands” that make up this ocean-themed Disney park). Dare we even call DisneySea romantic? It’s a popular date night destination for Japanese couples! Soaring: Fantastic Flight at DisneySea We also can’t forget to mention that Tokyo Disneyland has some of the cutest merch and eats we’ve ever seen! You might just have to increase the food and souvenir budget even more for this leg of the journey! Popsicle at Tokyo DisneySea Our non-stop flight from Los Angeles to Japan is going to cost $475 per person. Now this is where things get a little hairy — we’re going to lose over a day due to the 11+ hours of flight time and the change in time zones (Japan is 16 hours behind California), meaning our flight that leaves at 10:30 am on January 29th doesn’t get in until 3:30 pm the following day. We’re anticipating that’s going to leave us with some pretty gnarly jetlag, so once we land, we’ll be hopping a direct bus and heading straight to the Disney Ambassador Hotel to call it a night! While taking the train from the airport to Tokyo Disneyland is less expensive, it can be a little more complicated than just hopping a bus that will take us straight there, and after such a long flight, we’re expecting to be a little out of it! Soaring: Fantastic Flight Note — there is no Park Hopper add-on in Japan, so you must purchase your Tokyo Disneyland and DisneySea tickets separately. There is, however, a “Starlight Passport” which is a discount ticket that allows entry after 3 pm and an “After 6 Passport” which is even cheaper, allowing entry after 6 pm. We want all the time we can get to enjoy both of these parks, so we’re choosing a 4-day Magic Passport which is the maximum number of days you can purchase at one time. A nice perk with this ticket is that on the third and fourth days you can move back and forth between Tokyo Disneyland and DisneySea as you would with a Park Hopper ticket! DisneySea Non-Stop Flight from Los Angeles to Tokyo: $475 per person x 2 = $950 Bus ride to and from airport: $45.30 per person x 2 = $90.60 Four-Day Magic Passport: $208.86 per person x 2 = $417.72 Five Nights at The Disney Ambassador Hotel: $1887.18 Food Budget: $125 per person x 2 x 5 days (since we lost a day)= $1,250 Souvenir Budget: $300 per person x 2 = $600 Tokyo Disneyland Electrical Parade ©Disney/Natsumi Nukariya That makes our grand total spent in Japan $5,195.50! Time to head off to our next country — China! Hello Shanghai Disneyland! Itinerary dates: February 4th – February 7th, 2020 Over halfway through our journey, we’re really looking forward to riding Shanghai Disneyland’s Pirates of the Caribbean: Battle for the Sunken Treasure — we’ve heard it blows the other Disney pirates attractions out of the water! ©Disney Here in Shanghai, we’ll also be previewing TRON Lightcycle Power Run before its 2021 opening date in Walt Disney World! TRON Lightcycle Run ©Disney Our non-stop flight to Shanghai Pudong International Airport leaves Tokyo on Tuesday, February 4th. The flight time is about 3.5 hours and each airfare is costing us $471. Well be getting in around 11:30am, but again, we’re not planning on heading straight out to see Shanghai Disneyland. Instead, we’ll be taking a direct bus from the airport to our resort (again, for us, it’s just easier to hop on a bus and let someone else do all the navigating!) Once we arrive we’ll be laying low and exploring our accommodations for this leg of the journey… the Toy Story Hotel! Toy Story-Themed Hotel in Shanghai?! Yes, Please! Being the huge Toy Story fans that we are, we couldn’t pass up the chance to stay at the Toy Story Hotel with its “Andy’s Room” wallpaper exterior and giant statues of Woody and Buzz! It takes only a couple of minutes to walk to the park — and as guests of this resort, we have access to a special priority entrance to Shanghai Disneyland! Our three-night stay should give us ample time to explore the Enchanted Storybook Castle, Treasure Cove, and Gardens of Imagination! Non-Stop Flight from Tokyo to Shanghai: $471 per person x 2 = $942 Bus ride to and from airport: $8.72 per person x 2 = $17.44 Two-day ticket to Shanghai Disneyland: $146 per person x 2 = $292 Three Nights at The Toy Story Hotel: $222.78 x 3 = $668.34 Food Budget: $125 per person x 2 x 3 days = $750 Souvenir Budget: $300 per person x 2 = $600 Wow! Our Shanghai grand total came out to $3,269.78. Next we’re traveling to Hong Kong! Hong Kong Disneyland, Here We Come! Itinerary dates: February 7th – February 10th, 2020 Although Hong Kong Disneyland shares many of the similar classic attractions you’ll find at other Disney parks, its version of Haunted Mansion is totally unique! Hong Kong Disneyland Resort ©Disney Many folks even say that Hong Kong Disneyland’s Mystic Manor (even the name is different!) is one of the best Disney ride ever made! We’re hoping to ride it over, and over, and over again during our two-day visit to Hong Kong Disneyland! Not to mention, we’ll be getting our Marvel on at Ant-Man and The Wasp: Nano Battle! Ant Man and The Wasp: Nano Battle ©Disney Read more about Avengers Campus coming soon to Disney’s California Adventure here! Friday, February 7th is when we’ll be hopping our flight to Hong Kong! Thankfully it’s relatively quick and inexpensive! We’ll be taking another trusty bus from the airport since we prefer them over the other means of airport transportation, but we’ll have to make an exchange this time since there isn’t a direct line. We’re going to stay in and chill when we get to the resort (what can we say? We like to pad our travel days with lots of R & R!). We’ve chosen a three-night stay at the Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel — it’s only steps away from the park and gives us some serious Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort-vibes in terms of looks, but costs only a fraction of the Grand Flo’s price! Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel Bears a Strong Resemblance to the Grand Flo Shown Here! Non-Stop Flight from Shanghai to Hong Kong: $196 per person x 2 = $392 Bus ride to and from airport: $49.60 per person x 2 = $99.20 Two-day ticket to Hong Kong Disneyland: $158 per person x 2 = $316 Three Nights at Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel: $265 x 3 = $795 Food Budget: $125 per person x 2 x 3 days = $750 Souvenir Budget: $300 per person x 2 = $600 Lotso and Minnie Popsicles at Hong Kong Disneyland Our quick jaunt to Hong Kong Disneyland only set us back $2952.20! We’ll be finally making a break for the finish line as our next park is our FINAL stop! Viva la Disneyland Paris! Itinerary dates: February 10th – February 14th, 2020 Ah, Paris! Can you believe we’ll have almost made our way around the world by now?! Disneyland Paris France has two Disney theme parks — Disneyland Paris and Walt Disney Studios Park. In our opinion, Disneyland Paris has one of the prettiest castles (and it has an animatronic dragon in a moat underneath it!!) We’ll be the first ones in line for the Indiana Jones and the Temple of Peril rollercoaster! And we can’t wait to get lost in the Alice in Wonderland hedge maze… “Alice’s Curious Labrynth” (a fun maze featuring Alice’s adventures in Wonderland” …not to mention partake in a few go-arounds with Ratatouille: The Adventure! Walt Disney World will be getting a version of this coming to Epcot in 2020! Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure is coming soon to Epcot! Our flight to Paris’ Charles de Gaulle airport leaves on Monday, February 10th, and it’s going to take us ::yeesh:: about 15 hours to fly there. We’ll gain 6 hours because of the time zone difference, but once we get to the resort, we’re going to need some serious shut-eye! The high-speed TGV train will get us to Disneyland Paris (we’re going via train this time since it’s the fastest!) and we’ll be moseying over to Disney’s Hotel Cheyenne from there for some zzz’s in our Sherriff Woody-themed rooms! Pinnochio’s Daring Journey in Disneyland Paris — Our Journey Has Been Equally Daring! On February 11th, we should be recharged enough to hit Disneyland Paris. It’s an eight-minute complimentary shuttle ride from our Resort! Non-Stop Flight from Hong Kong to Paris: $700 per person x 2 = $1,400 TGV Train to and from airport: $39.00 per person x 2 = $78 Three-day Disneyland Paris Park Hopper ticket: $255 per person x 2 = $510 Four Nights at The Disney Hotel Cheyenne: $326 x 4 nights = $1,304 Food Budget: $125 per person x 2 x 5 days = $1,250 Souvenir Budget: $300 per person x 2 = $600 And there you have it! Our trip to Disneyland Paris came out to a grand total of $5,142! Can you believe we’ve gone around the world and visited all twelve of the Disney theme parks?! And as luck would have it, the last day of our epic around-the-world trip-of-a-lifetime just so happens to be Valentine’s Day in the City of Love! How romantic!!! Everyone’s Favorite Couple: Mickey and Minnie! This incredible journey has taken us 27 days for a grand total of — drum roll, please… $26,119.05! We don’t want to be stranded in France though (or do we?), so let’s tack on another $1,092 for our return airfare, and there you have it: 12 Disney theme parks for $27,211.05! Excuse us, we’re over here picking ourselves up off the floor after that sticker shock wears off! That’s a LOT of dough, but oh so worth it for a trip of a lifetime. So next time you and your Disney BFF start dreaming about your next trip to Disney, why not dream BIG and plan a trip around the world! That is — if you happen to have an extra 30 grand lying around! Now, remember — we found some super cheap flights (and splurged on some non-stops!) for our research purposes. Your mileage may vary on park tickets and transportation as well, depending on the time of year that you travel and what sites you use. You may choose to stay in off-site hotels (we went a little high-end in our accommodation choices), and, of course, you could be a little more financially modest when it comes to your food and souvenir budgets than we were. So while OUR trip cost us almost $30K, yours could be significantly more expensive…or LESS expensive! We’d love to hear how YOU’D plan your round-the-world trip to hit all the Disney parks! How would you change your priorities from ours? Let us know! What do you think? Would you ever attempt such a daring trip? Let us know in the comments!! Hello adventurers! And greetings from the Jungle Navigation Co. Ltd. Skipper Canteen! Skipper Canteen Entrance If you’re not aware, the Skipper Canteen is a Jungle Cruise themed restaurant, right in the heart of the jungle — er, Adventureland. It’s full of nods to the classic attraction, exotic eats, and goofy Skippers; and we recently told you all about some fun, new secret menu items you can grab here. But that whet our whistle to have a full meal and were excited to sail into another visit. But would the food still hold up? Atmosphere Upon entering the Jungle Navigation Co. Ltd. Skipper Canteen, you’ll notice a portrait of Dr. Albert Falls. Jungle Cruise Enthusiasts will immediately understand the reference to the attraction (he’s the guy after whom Schweitzer Falls is named…naturally). Dr. Albert Falls But Dr. Falls is also the founder of the Jungle Navigation Co. Ltd., which was a cargo transport company. Eventually, the company also began transporting tourists as a way to increase business. In fact, you can read the brief family history from Dr. Falls’ granddaughter here! Skipper Canteen Story Written by Alberta Falls (Click to enlarge!) As you continue into the restaurant, you’ll find yourself in the first dining room: The Crew’s Mess Hall. Crew’s Mess Hall Obviously, those skippers get tired from hauling guests up and down the river, and needed somewhere to relax and get some grub! Artifacts on the wall The walls are lined with Jungle artifacts, such as masks, plates, and figurines. Our favorite thing on the wall is a shelf called “Lost and Unfound” topped with Skippers’ lost items. Crew Mess Hall Bulletin Board Make sure to check out the Crew Bulletin Board as well, where you’ll see funny notes and newspaper clippings from the Skippers. Crew Bulletin Board Time to head to the next dining room — and you’ll pass through these formerly-secret bookcases to do so! Bookcases lining the hallway from the Mess Hall Welcome to the S.E.A Room! Fans of the now-extinct Adventurers Club at Pleasure Island may recall that S.E.A stands for the Society of Explorers and Adventurers. S.E.A Room Dr. Falls was a member of the secret society and used to host meetings in this formerly-hidden room. And now, it’s a great spot for your meal, with some of the coolest seating in the joint! S.E.A. Room Does anything in this S.E.A room painting look familiar? (Hint! Look at the building. And the snake.) Portrait in the S.E.A. Room The last dining room at Skipper Canteen is the Falls Family Parlor. Falls Family Parlor Also referred to as “The Jungle Room,” this is where Dr. Falls and his family used to gather ’round for meals and story-telling. Around the room, you’ll see some family artifacts and heirlooms from their adventures! Falls Family Parlor We adore this light fixture, which reminds us of a certain room nearby (Or should we say, a certain tiki tiki tiki tiki tiki room nearby!). Falls Family Parlor The Parlor wraps up our tour of the Jungle Navigation Co. Ltd. Skipper Canteen — we’ve got to get to the POINT (in the end) of the review: the food! (Buckle up, guys. More Jungle Cruise puns are a-comin’!) For even MORE atmosphere photos and backstory about the Skipper Canteen, click here! Eats One thing we love about the Skipper Canteen is the exotic menu. It’s far beyond “normal” theme park food — there’s not a chicken nugget or burger in sight! (Don’t get us wrong — we LOVE chicken nuggets. But this restaurant has such a unique, adventurous theme and we’re glad the food echoes that.) Menu Note that the menu has sketches of classic scenes from the Jungle Cruise. Rhino Scene Sketch Trader Sam Sketch So what’s on the menu — besides adorable artwork? Let’s start with the drinks! Specialty Drinks In the past, we’ve enjoyed the specialty drinks — the Schweitzer Slush and Punch Line Punch. But we recently discovered the super cute souvenir mugs are MISSING! Schweitzer Slush in Souvenir Mug You can still order the slushy drinks, but until further notice, they’ll be served in a normal cup. As with all Table Service restaurants in Magic Kingdom, there is a selection of alcohol on offer. Wine List Wine List Specialty Cocktails & Beer List But what’s that around the river bend? Could it be SECRET MENU DRINKS? Yup. Skipper Canteen features 3 secret menu sangrias — all ya gotta do is ask your friendly Skipper for assistance. If they don’t know what you’re talking about, they’re probably just lion. (ehh, ehh??) Check out our review of the secret menu drinks and eats here! Skipper Canteen is home to a huge appetizer menu. In the past, we’ve really enjoyed the S.E.A Shu Mai and Orinoco Ida’s Cachapas (that beer braised pork is DELICIOUS). Appetizers But this visit, something else caught our eye: The Lost and Found Soup. Considering it’s a seasonal soup, the name really made us chuckle! We asked our Skipper what the current selection was and found out it was “Coconut Curry.” SOLD! Coconut Curry Soup The soup arrived warm and beautiful! Our skipper explained it is a Butternut Squash base with Coconut and Curry and is topped with Chili Oil and Green Onions. Coconut Curry Soup This soup was FABULOUS. It was full of flavor, and we loved the punch from the Chili Oil. It wasn’t overwhelmingly hot, but it did bring a little heat. You could definitely tell it was a Butternut Squash Soup’s more exotic and flavorful cousin, and the sweet Coconut perfectly complimented the Squash. Overall, it was a hearty soup and was a perfect balance of sweet, curry, and heat. Coconut Curry Soup And don’t worry about it being seasonal — our Skipper told us that soups tend to stick around for months at a time. So hopefully this one will be around for the fall and winter season! You know what they say — safari, so good! So let’s move on! Next up, we browsed the entrees. Entree Menu (Click to Enlarge) We’ve tried (and loved) the “Tastes Like Chicken – Because It Is!,” and the “Hardy Har Char” Siu Pork in the past, but today we were drawn to the other (not-white) meat. STEAK….Dr. Falls’ Signature Grilled Steak to be exact. Dr Falls’ Signature Grilled Steak The Dr. Falls’ Signature Grilled Steak is an Adobo-seasoned New York Strip, served with a Vegetable and Chorizo Farofa, and topped with a Caramelized Onion Purée, and Red Wine Reduction. Dr Falls’ Signature Grilled Steak Right off the bat, we realized the portion was pretty large — in fact, it could be easily shared along with an appetizer depending on how hungry you are. We asked for the steak to be cooked medium-rare, and the Skippers (Chefs), made it happen beautifully. Dr Falls’ Signature Grilled Steak Cross Section The meat was cooked to request and had a nice char on the outside as well as noticeable grill marks. (We STAN grill marks.) The adobo-seasoning was our favorite thing about the steak however, as it made it stand out from others we’ve had on property. It brought an “exotic” flair to the dish that was very fitting for Skipper Canteen! Vegetable and Chorizo Farofa We also were really into the Vegetable and Chorizo Farofa — which is good considering we always have to look up farofa whenever it’s on a menu! It’s a grain similar to grits or polenta, and in this case was cooked with chorizo sausage, beans, onions, tomatoes, and peppers. This was a FABULOUS side, very in keeping with the theme. The sausage had a slight amount of heat, and overall the side was seasoned very well. For not knowing what we were going to be eating, we have to say we’re all FAROFA it. (Sorry, had to.) Caramelized Onion Purée The steak was supposed to be topped with a Caramelized Onion Purée, but ours seemed more like thin-sliced pickled onions to us — either way, it added a simple yet crisp flavor to the meal. And finally, we really enjoyed the Red Wine Reduction which really tied all of the components together. Dr Falls’ Signature Grilled Steak Overall, this was a high-quality dish and we did enjoy the steak. That said, was it worth $36? Maybe not, in our opinion. We’d still rather get the “Tastes Like Chicken — Because It Is!” when it comes to unique entrees. That said, this entree is a VERY good use of a Disney Dining Plan Table Service Credit. That entree was solid as a rock. We hope you didn’t take it for granite (that was one of our boulder jokes)! Next up, it was time to glance at a dessert menu. Dessert Menu The first side of the smaller menu consisted of hot beverages, such as teas and coffees. (Note the Alto Mayo Protected Forest Coffee. Super cool!) Dessert Menu And the second side listed the desserts available. Dessert Menu On previous visits, we were very delighted by the Coconut Bar and the Kungaloosh! (For the flavors as well as the name.) Kungaloosh! Dessert But for this trip, we asked our server which of the remaining two desserts we should try — the Bertha’s Bahn Bong Lan Cake with Mango-lime Sorbet or the Quick Sand!!!? Turns out the answer from our (very honest) skipper, was neither! She said that we’d already enjoyed the best two desserts in her opinion, and the other two were just…meh. (We love a candid server!) We figured since we were in Adventureland, we could probably find a very tasty dessert just around the corner. (Like the amazing Pineapple Upside Down Cake from Aloha Isle.) Pineapple Upside Cake at Aloha Isle That said, if you’re on the Disney Dining Plan or want a dessert while you’re still at Skipper Canteen, we HIGHLY recommend the Coconut Bar with Pineapple-Basil Compote and Vanilla Cream. We love the light cake and were shocked at how well all the flavors went together. It’s been a guest favorite since the restaurant opened. It’s a unique and tasty way to end your meal. Coconut Bar with Pineapple Basil Compote and Vanilla Cream But perhaps, our favorite thing about the Dessert menu is the back. Backside of Menu Classic. Nosh or Not? Swing by the Jungle Navigation Co. Ltd. Skipper Canteen if: You adore the Jungle Cruise. You’ll love all the details and nods to the classic attraction! And the jokes. Gotta love the jokes! You want a sit-down meal in Magic Kingdom. It’s usually easier to get a last-minute dining reservation or even walk-up table at Skipper Canteen vs. other table service restaurants in the park. Why is that? You want something other than a burger. The menu is certainly the most “exotic” of the restaurants in MK, so if you’re a more adventurous eater, this place may be right up your alley! “Skip” the Jungle Navigation Co. Ltd. Skipper Canteen if: Dessert is your favorite part of the meal. While there are decent, even yummy, options, the menu is limited and dessert isn’t the highlight of the Skipper Canteen. (Luckily amazing and iconic treats can be found nearby!) You have picky eaters. While some items are certainly more adventurous than others (like a whole fried fish!), you may have trouble finding something that will satisfy the pickiest of palettes. Overall When it comes down to it, the Jungle Navigation Co. Ltd. Skipper Canteen is a fun, silly, and even kitschy experience. And we love it for that! As big fans of the Jungle Cruise, we adore all the subtle (and not so subtle) references to the classic attraction. This is truly an immersive dining experience that puts you right into the story. We also love that the menu is completely different from anything else you’ll find in Magic Kingdom. The options complement and enhance the theme — it just wouldn’t be the same if we ate pizza or burgers in this environment. Overall, the Jungle Navigation Co. Ltd. Skipper Canteen remains a must-visit (at least once) for those that appreciate a unique menu, the Jungle Cruise, and classic Disney storytelling. If you enjoyed yourself, we’re with DFB and this has been the world-famous Skipper Canteen. If you didn’t, then our name is Kevin and this has been our review of Chef Mickey’s. We’ve seen Rey transform from a scavenger into a Jedi, while we’ve rooted Finn on during his switch from the Dark Side to the Light Side. ©Walt Disney Studios And, now the trilogy is coming to its bittersweet end with The Rise of Skywalker. And, even though we have to wait until December 20th to see the film, the last trailer leading up to its premiere is giving us more questions than answers! (We just want to see it already!!) During the Patriots vs. Jets game on Monday night, the final trailer for The Rise of Skywalker dropped, leaving fans anticipating the epic end to the latest Star Wars trilogy even more! ©Disney The saga’s finale will take the audience of the journey of a lifetime through numerous battlefields in the air, water, and earth (galactic worlds we can only dream of) where our heroes will be put to the ultimate test. ©Disney And, although Finn states that “the Force brought us together,” there is still some confusion over what side holds the most promise for Rey. The protagonist finds herself feeling like nobody understands her, but Kylo Ren admits that he does. For all you Star Wars fans out there, you’ll remember that this loneliness is part of the reason Anakin was tempted with the Dark Side. The question is…will Rey resist like Anakin could not? ©Disney There’s some reason to believe that she will fall into similar patterns as we’ve seen her wield a double-sided red lightsaber at D23. Buuut, there’s still hope for the heroine ’cause the trailer shows our girl defending the Light Side… ©Disney …while also fighting next to Kylo Ren, creating balance in the Force. Rey might possibly even convince Kylo Ren to reconsider which side he’s protecting. ©Disney If the big baddie isn’t Kylo Ren, though — who is it, you might ask? Emperor Palpatine is BACK and more sinister than ever! He warns that the individuals who have come together (maybe even the Light and the Dark Sides?) will cause their “undoing” by working as a team. ©Disney We have to say that Palpatine has his work cut out for him since Rose has recovered from her selfless sacrifice in The Last Jedi, Lando returns to pilot the Millennium Falcon (!!!), Leia makes a heartfelt appearance, and C-3PO is ready to fight until his final moments. (Yeah, we’re definitely crying at his “last look” at his friends.) So, we can’t help but wonder — who will live and who will die in the end of the saga? ©Disney It looks like we’re going to have to wait until December 20th for those answers about the last film in the trilogy. In the meantime, you can watch the last full-length trailer for the film here! Tickets are also available for the film starting NOW! So, be sure to use the Force and secure yours ASAP ’cause they’ll be going as quickly as the Millennium Falcon did the Kessel Run. ©Disney The Force will be with us, always. While we already told you it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas at Disney World now that Hollywood Studios has started putting up its Christmas decorations, we never dreamed we’d be caught in a wintery flurry in October! Snow at Hollywood Studios But if you were at Hollywood Studios today, you too might’ve seen the hilarity than ensured when some of the Sunset Seasons Greetings snow machines malfunctioned — spreading their snowflakes all over the place! If you weren’t there, allow us to show you the aftermath! All signs pointed to something being not-quite-right about the machines that are used to create the falling snowflake-like effect for Hollywood Studios’ holiday celebration Sunshine Seasons Greetings when guests could visibly see the soap bubble fluid oozing down the side of the building — that’s not normal! Hollywood Studios Then the frothy snow-like mixture actually started to accumulate on the sidewalk below! Some guests began enjoying an impromptu foam party right on Sunset Boulevard! Hey, we don’t remember this event being listed on the Hollywood Studios’ times guide! Hollywood Studios But gradually there was so much snoap (snow-soap!) residue on the ground, some nearby Cast Members had to act quickly and set up some safety cones — after all, this is soap we’re talking about and this stuff’s SLIPPERY! Hollywood Studios At one point the frothy flurry showed no signs of slowing, so Cast Members formed a human barrier to keep unsuspecting guests from taking a spill on the snoap drifts! Hollywood Studios Finally, it appeared the malfunctions snow machines were shut off, and Cast Members quickly assembled to sweep away with piles of foamy snow that had amassed. Luckily, brooms were sufficient and no plows or snow shovels were deployed! Hollywood Studios And once the soap mixture was tidied up and the sidewalk was rinsed off, it was sparklingly clean! Hollywood Studios We’re keeping our fingers crossed that Disney will have its snow machines working in time for Hollywood Studios’ first Sunset Seasons Greetings on November 8th. But if not, you can always catch the snow flurries on Main Street, U.S.A. in Magic Kingdom during Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party — check out our Ultimate Guide here! We’ve seen some super cute new Alex and Ani charms, and a lot of them feature some familiar faces! Alex and Ani Ears The partnership between Disney and Alex and Ani has made for some adorable jewelry options!
