  3. BRRRRR! The temperature seems to be taking a plunge in Disney World right now because remember all of those Frozen 2 treats we mentioned to you earlier today? Well, some have ALREADY blustered in from Arendelle! Water Spirit Cupcake Up first, we’re tasting and reviewing the new Water Spirit Cupcake that we just arrived at Centertown Market in Disney’s Carribean Beach Resort! The Water Spirit Cupcake features a chocolate cupcake filled with white chocolate mousse and topped with vanilla buttercream, crispy pearls, and a white chocolate garnish. Water Spirit Cupcake Sign Read about all the new Frozen 2 foods at Disney World here! It’s inspired by a new magical creature we’ve only glimpsed from the Frozen 2 trailers. It’s a protective guardian from the ocean that takes on the form of a horse. Water Spirit Cupcake Disney’s referring to this water spirit as The Nokk — and last week we spotted some adorable new Nokk Plushes, btw! Water Spirit Cupcake But we digress! Time to get down to business! The business of EATING, that is! When we finally got to chow down on the Water Spirit Cupcake, we found the chocolate cake to be very rich and moist while the white chocolate filling was really good, too! Water Spirit Cupcake And although we love ourselves some vanilla buttercream, there was waaaayy too much frosting — it almost sent us into icing overload! The blue dye from the icing also left our hands (and faces!) pretty messy! We thought the white chocolate coin with Elsa’s and The Nokk’s long manes flowing in unison looked pretty neat, though! Water Spirit Cupcake The Water Spirit Cupcake costs $5.49 and in addition to Disney’s Caribbean Beach Club, you can also find it grazing at Disney’s Port Orlean’s — French Quarter and Riverside just in case you were wondering! Check it out before it stampedes away! And be on the lookout for more Frozen 2 goodies as we should have reviews coming your way very soon! Will you be trying the Water Spirit Cupcake? Let us know which Frozen 2 treat you’re most excited about tasting in the comments below! Related posts: What to EAT at Port Orleans Resort French Quarter and Riverside in Disney World! Food News! 4. The mermaid themed dessert trend shows little sign of slowing down at Walt Disney World. We’ve seen many incarnations, including treats at Magic Kingdom’s Main Street Bakery and the BoardWalk Bakery, and we can’t forget about the mezMERizing mermaid cupcake we found earlier this year over at Disney’s Art of Animation. It was truly a work of art! But today we are swimming on over to the Seven Seas Lagoon for a new treat over at the Gasparilla Island Grill at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort. Mermaid Tail Dessert This counter service breakfast, lunch, and dinner spot offers cafe-style seating with views of the stunning Grand Floridian marina. But today we aren’t here for the views, we’re here for the new Pineapple Coconut Mermaid Tail. There’s a lot going on with this particular tail. Pineapple Coconut Mermaid Tail It features two solid white chocolate fins, a sugar-encrusted pastry cream horn shell, rainbow colored sprinkle stars, and a small purple decorative shell, all brought together with a pineapple coconut filling. Mermaid Tail At first bite, we found the shell and the custard inside to be…underwhelming. The pastry shell had good consistency, but no buttery flavor; and the custard didn’t stand out, as it wasn’t overwhelmingly either pineapple or coconut. We would have loved a burst of flavor with the custard! It’s not sickly sweet, like other desserts, so we have to give them props for that! Mermaid Tail You could try it out yourself for $5.99 or a Disney Dining Plan snack credit. This whale of a tail certainly can’t stand up to some of the other amazing mermaid treats we’ve seen in recent years. On our next visit to Gasparilla Island Grill, we’ll stick to their new (and seriously delicious) Frozen 2 shortbread Cookie, that features a maple cream filling. Frozen 2 Cookie Oh, and by the way, there are TONS of other Frozen 2 treats coming your way! We’re writing up our reviews as we…speak! ;-D Will you be heading to Gasparilla Island Grill for this new treat? 6. I have not always been a big fan of Halloween. I know, I know … boooooooo. Here’s why – I’m easily scared! However, the Haunted Mansion is the one ghoulish place that I love to visit. Artist, Brittany Ungvarsky, is my opposite in this matter. She loves Halloween and all of the fright that comes with it. The Haunted Mansion is also one of her favorite rides. Between the two of us, we thought Madame Leota would be a perfect DIY for this holiday. Download the instructions and template before you start, and be sure to read our terms of use. 14. Ah, Dole Whip…the sweet pineapple-y sensation of Disney parks. We just can’t get enough! Mickey and Minnie Ice Cream Cups And, luckily, Dole Whip can be found just about everywhere in Disney World these days. Find it at resorts and parks in float form, spiked, and even with specialty flavors! And now, if you’re staying at the All-Star Resorts in Disney World, there’s an even EASIER way to get that tasty tropical fix. That’s right, we’ve spotted self-serve Dole Whip machines in the World Premiere Food Court at All-Star Movies Resort. Yum! Self-Serve Dole Whip Remember back in the day when you could self-serve your Dole Whip 24 hours a day at Captain Cook’s in the Polynesian Resort? Well self-serve is back, bb, and we’re so excited! It’s time to study your swirl skills yet again in Disney World! The machines have pineapple, chocolate, and vanilla soft-serve options. You can also swirl vanilla and pineapple or chocolate and vanilla. Dole Whip Self-serve Dole Whip is priced at $7.99 which is pricier than the regular Dole Whip cups you can find elsewhere in Disney World. Adventureland and at Polynesian Resort cups are priced at $4.99. (The price difference may be due to the concern that guests will load a LOT of soft serve into their cups.) The self-serve is also available with the Disney Dining Plan which, at $7.99, makes it a very good use of a Snack Credit. Dole Whip! Stop by the All-Star Food Courts to make-your-own Dole Whip! Oh, and also note that you can often find self-serve Pineapple Soft Serve at Fuel in the Walt Disney World Dolphin Resort! You don’t have to be staying there to access their make-your-own sundae spread, so get on it! What do you think of the new self-serve option for Dole Whip? Let us know in the comments! 18. To kick off the week, we’re celebrating an exciting milestone for Disney Skyliner at the Walt Disney World Resort – 1 million guests magically transported! Since opening just weeks ago, this popular state-of-the-art transportation system has offered a convenient way to get around the Walt Disney World Resort with an extra dash of pixie dust. The beautiful Disney Skyliner gondolas glide across the sky providing amazing bird’s-eye views of the property. And for many of you, the gondolas have already become a popular way to travel to resort locations. Disney Skyliner connects Epcot and Disney’s Hollywood Studios to four Disney resort hotels: Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, Disney’s Pop Century Resort, Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort (and the forthcoming Disney’s Riviera Resort, a Disney Vacation Club resort set to open Dec. 16, 2019). Plus, the Disney Skyliner station at International Gateway at Epcot is conveniently located just a short walk away from Disney’s BoardWalk entertainment district, Disney’s Yacht Club Resort, Disney’s Beach Club Resort and Disney’s BoardWalk Inn. We’re proud to celebrate this exciting milestone for Disney Skyliner and look forward to offering the best transportation experiences to many, many more Walt Disney World Resort guests in the future. 19. As soon as your phone starts giving those pesky Low Battery notifications, you know it’s time to find a place to recharge ASAP. Disney Princess Phone Cases While the FuelRods available for purchase have been a (phone) life-saver, the recent price increase in Disney World has many guests debating whether the portable charger is even worth buying now. In case you’re someone who needs a lil extra battery boost to take more pictures and videos, we’ve got plenty of ways to work around the FuelRod change. FuelRod Update ICYMI, FuelRods stations in Disney World used to be a service where you would pay a one-time fee of $30 for a portable charger and charging cables that you’d get to keep. After the charge got low, you were able to exchange the FuelRod AT NO ADDITIONAL COST at one of many locations around the parks and resorts. You’d get back a fully-charged fuelrod and go about your business. FuelRod Machine However, on November 1st, the rules are changing (sad face). In order to swap your FuelRod, you’ll need to pay $3 for the new charger. For me, the additional cost would mean another $3-$6 per day, easily. And I know that’s the case for many of you as well. Multiply that times 7 days in the parks, and you’re looking at up to nearly $50 in extra cost (in addition to having to find a fuelrod exchange station at the right times). New Price Increase on FuelRod Machine Although we’re disappointed that the FuelRods in Disney are switching things up, there are still plenty of ways to charge your phone in the parks — and they won’t cost you a combined total of $80 when all is said and done. Forget to plug in your phone at the hotel room (we’ve all been there)? Before even setting foot in the parks you can charge your phone with the USB outlets available on many Disney World buses! Sit back, relax, and chill out while your phone gets a boost before heading into Disney for the day. Sensational Six Bus Charging Ports Once you’re in the parks, you can stop by the Disney Guest Relations desk for FREE phone charging services! All you have to do is give them the charging cable and leave your phone with them while you ride your favorite attraction and eat your favorite snacks. Guest Relations will hand you a claim ticket that can be brought back at any time to retrieve your now charged phone! Guest Relations If you want to keep your phone with you throughout the day, there are multiple charging ports around Disney World available for use! Just to name a few, you can use the “hidden” outlets in the tree stumps across from the Tangled Restrooms and the outlets in the gift shop after Space Mountain in Magic Kingdom… Space Mountain Gift Shop …the wall outlets at Star Wars Launch Bay in Hollywood Studios… Star Wars Launch Bay at Disney’s Hollywood Studios …the wooden light posts with 4 outlets attached to their back sides near Expedition Everest in Animal Kingdom… Expedition Everest …and the outlets near the bathrooms between the Germany and Italy pavilions and between the Kringla Bakeri og Cafe and The Fjording gift shop in Norway located in Epcot’s World Showcase. Oh, and those awesome couches in the hallway behind Club Cool have hidden charging ports! There are plenty more charging spots around the parks, and Cast Members would be willing to point out areas that you can find them as well! Kringla Bakeri og Kafe and Puffin’s Roost But we loved being able to charge our phones on the go with the FuelRod, and so we want to be able to give you a good example of a great portable phone charger that’s been our lifesaver again and again — and that packs a bigger power punch than the FuelRod, so it can keep your device charged up all day. While you can get a cheaper portable charger outside the parks, we recommend the Anker PowerCore 10000! Although it’s the same price as the FuelRod, the super reliable Anker PowerCore actually has a longer battery life that can charge a phone over 3 times (wut??)! ©Anker In fact, it can even charge an iPad fully for whenever your little ones need to watch Disney+ during a snack or meal break. Um, pretty awesome, right?! Plus, it’s light and easy to transport. When you get home from the parks, just charge it up at night and you’re ready to go in the morning. ©Anker Even though the FuelRod prices have increased, that doesn’t mean your battery life has to decrease while you’re in Disney World! After all, the Most Magical Place on Earth does come with a few extra ways (and charging spots) to sprinkle pixie dust on your day in parks. 20. On the 12th day of Christmas my true love gave to me…. Beer? Redlight Redlight Sama en Gris at 12 Beers of Christmas We had a wonderful time last year attending the “12 Beers of Christmas Event” hosted by Iron Chef Morimoto himself and held at Morimoto Asia in Disney Springs. The adults-only event featured unlimited tastes of local craft breweries and Chef Morimoto’s signature Pan-Asian cuisine. And Morimoto Asia JUST announced that the very popular event will return this year! Set to be held on Sunday, December 8th, from 11:30 AM – 3:30 PM, the event will once again feature 12 specialty beers from local breweries all across Central Florida, such as Crooked Can Brewing Company and Rogue Ales. OH, and there will also be 12 food pairing stations…of course! Tickets this year are priced at $64.00 per person (up from the previous $55.00). @Morimoto Asia Morimoto will be on hand to host the event and will be autographing copies of his cookbook Mastering the Art of Japanese Home Cooking, with proceeds going to Orlando’s amazing Give Kids The World Village. This event is an absolute must for beer enthusiasts and — even with the price increase — a terrific value being that you can go back to your favorite booth again and again. We hope they bring back these miniature churros, which were our pick for favorite food from last year! Mini Churros We also loved the super flavorful Duck Ramen and hope it makes a grand return this year! Red Cypress Brewery Spook Hill Pale Ale and Duck Ramen 12 Beers of Christmas is an adults-only event, and you must be 21 or older to attend. Tickets are available now on Morimoto Asia’s website. We’ll keep you posted as additional details and menu items are revealed. Will you be attending this super popular event? Let us know!
