  5. One of the many reasons Epcot is so special is the opportunity to experience art, history and diverse world cultures firsthand. One of my favorite of these places in the park – the Gallery of Arts and History in the Morocco pavilion – just reopened with a new exhibit, “Race Against the Sun: Ancient Technique to Modern Competition.” “Race Against the Sun” showcases two incredible modern-day competitions – Marathon des Sables (Marathon of the Sands) and Rallye Aïcha des Gazelles du Maroc (Rally of the Gazelles) – as well as the rich history of the ancient inhabitants of the Sahara, the Berbers. The exhibit features immersive experiences, including a lifelike diorama of Marathon of the Sands with race gear and trophies from Moroccan competitors, and an interactive photo opportunity highlighting Rally of the Gazelles – the off-road, all-woman desert rally. Each of these intense competitions take place in the Sahara Desert, and guests can also discover how the Sahara’s original inhabitants, the Berbers, mastered the challenges of living in the formidable environment. In celebration of the new exhibit, you can get a taste of what it’s like to participate in an intense desert competition. At Tangerine Café in the Morocco pavilion, discover “sellou,” a food highlighted in “Race Against the Sun” that marathon participants commonly eat during their race. With ingredients like almonds and sesame seeds, this energy-packed snack gives runners the boost they need to complete their journey. “Race Against the Sun” is part of the continued evolution of Epcot, introducing fantastic experiences that extend the unique spirit and vision of the park. 9. Today’s Disney Doodle takes a look at what Wilbur and Lewis from “Meet the Robinsons” might do if they had the chance to visit the Walt Disney World Resort. 13. It’s a jolly holiday (season) at Disneyland and Disney California Adventure! Disneyland Holiday Decorations The West Coast is celebrating in STYLE for the most wonderful time of year, with festive and cheery decorations adorning every corner of the park! We’ve already seen the Christmas tree go up in Disneyland, and preparations underway for Festival of Holidays, but now even MORE cheery decor is going up! You don’t need to go any further than the entrance to start seeing the holiday magic here at Disneyland! The front gate looks like a winter wonderland, complete with beautiful snowflakes! Disneyland Holiday Decorations Once inside, you’ll spot this ABSOLUTELY GIANT Christmas tree, surrounded by a garden of stunning poinsettias. We’re pretty sure we could spend hours looking at all the ornaments hanging on this tree! Disneyland Holiday Decorations Just LOOK at those beautiful poinsettias, which are about the most bright and cheery flower imaginable around this time of year! Disneyland Holiday Decorations There are SO many details to these decorations – even the lamp posts are decked out in their holiday best! Disneyland Holiday Decorations We don’t even have words, except for “Where can we get one of these holiday wreaths for ourselves?”! The white tinsel is filled with neon baubles and decorations that are so unique! This one was hanging near it’s a small world (recognize the Canadian Mountie?!). Disneyland Holiday Decorations Cars Land has always been SO impressive with theming, so we’re not surprised at all that Radiator Springs is EXTRA festive! Flo’s V8 Cafe has strung up some “homemade” garland, which looks to be made with — what else — car parts! Cars Land Holiday Decorations The Cozy Cone Motel across the street is looking extra bright and cheery! They’ve decorated their lawn with colorful floral stars! Cars Land Holiday Decorations And, of course, Radiator Springs needed its own Christmas tree! This one is cleverly made with LOTS of Route 66 signs! Cars Land Holiday Decorations Heading over to New Orleans Square there is some seriously eye-catching decor! It’s definitely getting us in the mood to celebrate! Disneyland Holiday Decorations Just when you think you’ve spotted them all, there are MORE ornaments, garland, or other festive decorations! We love these Santa ornaments hung throughout the Mardi Gras beads! Disneyland Holiday Decorations We never thought we’d say this about a lamp post, but we HEART this lamp post in New Orleans Square. What a show-stopper! Disneyland Holiday Decorations We are suckers for huge tinsel garland, so this Christmas tree in Disney’s California Adventure Park is a definite favorite! Disneyland Holiday Decorations Do we need to start a Pinterest board for lamp post decoration inspo?! Because we have a lot to work with from the folks at Disneyland! The white tinsel here in California Adventure is adorned with colorful baubles and a metallic gold bow. Disneyland Holiday Decorations It’s a small world always has some of our favorite holiday decorations, and this year is no exception! The smiling clock gets a Santa hat for the holiday season, and it just looks right! Disneyland Holiday Decorations If we do say so ourselves, Disneyland has done a fabulous job of decking the halls this holiday season! Read all about the Festival of Holidays happening at Disney’s California Adventure Park! What do you think of the decorations at Disneyland? Do you have a favorite one? 14. Disney’s Beach Club Resort is known for getting in on the Christmas fun in a major way. 2018 Beach Club Gingerbread Carousel The Beach Club Gingerbread Carousel is an awesome confection that we look forward to seeing every year, so we’ve been keeping an eye on the lobby for signs of this Christmas tradition. Though there’s no sign of the iconic Carousel yet, we did spot some new decals going up around the lobby! Step into the lobby at the Beach Club and you’ll spot these sweet new wall decals! They make parts of the lobby look like a little gingerbread house! AWWWWW!!!!! Beach Club Wall Decals We love this centerpiece sporting a gingerbread-ified version of the Beach Club logo. Beach Club Wall Decals We’re not super sure what these counters are going to be used for. Usually, there are gingerbread treats sold at Beach Club Marketplace with the opening of the Gingerbread Carousel. It’s possible that the gingerbread treats will get their own spot at this new decorated counter area or it could possibly be just pumped up decor for the resort! Beach Club Wall Decals Whatever the purpose, we love these cute new gingerbread decals. It’s so fun to spot all of the Christmas decorations coming together in the parks and resorts. Plus, it’s only making us more excited for the Gingerbread Carousel — if that’s even possible! This seems like a great indicator that something gingerbread-like may soon begin to emerge at the Beach Club! We’ll keep you posted as more happens! Click here to read all about the 2018 Gingerbread Carousel! What do you think? Will these counters be the new home to a gingerbread snack stand? Let us know in the comments! 15. “My, what a guy, that Gaston!” Gaston’s Tavern On a recent trip to the Magic Kingdom we stopped by Gaston’s Tavern to visit everyone’s favorite guy, and noticed him sporting a new look! Gaston’s costume has gotten a makeover! The new reincarnation is slightly more rugged, with arms and legs that are noticeably less padded. Updated Gaston Costume That being said, it still certainly looks like Gaston has been maintaining his five-dozen eggs a day diet! Updated Gaston Costume His pants are also darker and more acid-washed. Gaston is also rocking a red short-sleeved shirt with a yellow long-sleeved undershirt instead of the red long-sleeved tee he wore before. But we think that no matter the costume, Gaston still has as big an ego as ever, making him a pretty fun character to meet at the parks! Updated Gaston Costume You can check out Gaston’s new look while you pick up a LeFou’s Brew at Gaston’s Tavern in Magic Kingdom! What do you think of Gaston’s new costume? 17. First steps were in the forecast this morning at Disney’s Animal Kingdom as our young eland, Doppler, officially made his debut onto the Kilimanjaro Safaris savanna. You may recall, Doppler was born roughly two months ago on the heels of Hurricane Dorian. His name was inspired by his post-storm arrival. Mom and baby spent the morning exploring and playing on the savanna, and the young calf was eager to meet some of his new neighbors. Since his birth, Doppler has been bonding with his mom, Clover, in a backstage habitat and he’s been growing quickly. Did you know common elands are some of the largest antelopes in the world? Doppler was nearly 70 pounds at birth, and he’s already almost doubled his weight in just two months. While he will continue to nurse for the next couple of months, Doppler has developed quite an appetite for some of his favorite new foods – lettuce, carrots and sweet potatoes. When he’s fully grown, Doppler will stand about 8-feet-tall and his legs will be powerful enough for him to jump that high too. Doppler was born as part of a species survival plan in partnership with the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA). To learn more about the animals in our care at Walt Disney World, visit: DisneyAnimals.com, and be sure to keep your eyes peeled for the newest addition to the herd on your next adventure on Kilimanjaro Safaris. 19. We’re just days away from the launch of Disney+, and I couldn’t be more excited to stream all the great content, including their vast slate of original movies and series. Among the most fun of those originals is the new show, “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series,” and for a limited time starting November 12, Disneyland Resort guests will get a sneak peek at this Disney+ Original during a special presentation in the Tomorrowland Theater at Disneyland park. “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series” is a 10-episode scripted series, set at the real-life East High where the original movie was filmed. The show follows a group of students as they count down to opening night of their school’s first-ever production of “High School Musical.” With meta references and some docu-style elements, it’s a modern take on the “classic” from 15 years ago. Showmances blossom; friendships are tested, while new ones are made; rivalries flare; songs are sung; and lives are changed forever as these young people discover the transformative power that only high school theater can provide. “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series” will be available to stream when Disney+ launches November 12.
