It’s our favorite time of year as we get to eat, drink, and be merry at the Festival of Holidays at California Adventure Park. Disneyland’s Festival of Holidays The festival celebrates the cultural diversity of Southern California through live music and dance performances, beautiful decor, and marketplace booths. Some of our favorite dining locations are even getting in on the action with their own holiday offerings a day early! Let’s cruise up the coast to one of our favorite Disney California Adventure spots, Pacific Wharf Cafe where we’ve already tried a delish Apple Fritter Bread Pudding. Pacific Wharf at Disney California Adventure Pacific Wharf is known for serving hearty soups in San Francisco’s own Boudin Bread Bowls! Last year, we indulged (And loved!) the carby goodness that was the Turkey Pot Pie Soup in a Bread Bowl. Turkey Pot Pie Soup in a Bread Bowl You thought pumpkin season was over? Well, guess again! This holiday season brings us Pumpkin Soup in a Sourdough Bread Bowl. Pacific Wharf 2019 Holiday Menu Priced at $11.49 as well as sip & savor eligible, this seasonal soup is made with coconut milk, lemongrass, and ginger, and is topped with pumpkin seeds and shaved coconut. Pumpkin Soup This soup was definitely more savory than the sweet Pumpkin-ness we anticipated. The aromatic spices were the perfect accompaniment for the fluffy and delicious (per usual) sourdough bread bowl. The garnish is made of cilantro, zucchini, and tomato and adds a nice flavor to it, but you can get it without the garnish if that’s not your thing. It’s relatively thick making for a very hearty meal. Pumpkin Soup We think this is a solid choice if you’re looking for a filling snack on those frigid 60 degree California nights. Disneyland’s Festival of Holidays is heating up at California Adventure Park. Disney’s Festival of Holidays In addition to live music and dance performances, beautiful decor, and marketplace booths, additional dining locations are getting in on the action with their own holiday offerings. Let’s head to Smokejumpers Grill for their festive offering. In case you aren’t familiar, Smokejumpers Grill is an aviation-themed quick-service spot located next to the entrance of Soarin’ Around The World. Smokejumpers Grill We’ve seen previous incarnations of Latkes, like last year’s Jalapeño Latkes from the Spicy Celebrations marketplace booth (which happened to be one of our festival favorites!). Jalapeño Latkes with Chipotle Crema Oy To The World! We were super excited to try this new offering, the Loaded Latke. This dish features a traditional latke that is loaded with smoked brisket, horseradish cream, and scallion. It’s priced at $7.49 and eligible for sip & savor. Loaded Latkes We were served two very good latkes, that we found to be nice and crispy (as they should be)! Sadly, the meat was a bit tough and could have used some more sauce. We also felt like the portion was a little small! Oy Vey! Loaded Latkes We definitely didn’t love this one a latke, and miss last year’s version! You guys should try it out and let us know how it ranks on your festival list! The Festival of Holidays at Disney’s California Adventure officially kicks off TOMORROW, November 8th and will run through January 6, 2020. We’re blasting off to Tomorrowland to try out a new Joffrey’s treat! Joffrey’s Revive The Joffrey’s locations around Disney can be a real life-saver on a tiring day in the parks. We love stopping here to grab an iced coffee when we need a park pick-me-up. We’re also quite fond of the rotating pastry menu and we recently found an all-new sweet treat that makes us feel all warm and toasty inside. We were hanging around Tomorrowland in Magic Kingdom when we spotted this MONSTER S’mores Donut at Joffrey’s Revive. We actually spotted this donut in Disney Springs a few months ago as well as a mini version, but this is the first time we’ve seen it IN the Disney Parks. Joffrey’s Revive S’mores Donut This thing is huge and SO pretty, so we can’t imagine roasting it over a fire. That’s okay though because all the classic s’mores flavors are already included! Joffrey’s Revive S’mores Donut It’s got those tasty roasted marshmallows on top with tons of graham cracker crumbs and chocolate icing. YUM. Joffrey’s Revive S’mores Donut The donut itself is super cakey and delicious. The s’mores flavors really come from the toppings so the donut itself is more plain cake. That means that it’s not overwhelmingly sweet which we thought was a good thing in a treat this large! Joffrey’s Revive S’mores Donut It’s important to note that Joffrey’s donuts are actually sourced locally from Donut King. And y’all it was the bomb.com. You might like this treat if you’re looking for something shareable or a little chocolate-y (but not too chocolate-y!). You can grab one for yourself from Joffrey’s Revive in Tomorrowland for $4.99. Click here to check out MORE Disney donuts!! Will you be blasting off to grab the S’mores Donut? Let us know in the comments! It’s that time of year when many of us start thinking about decorating for the holidays. Here at the Disneyland Resort, our resort enhancement team actually started planning for this year’s holiday design last year! Creating, maintaining and storing all of the decorations for the resort is a year-long process for these talented cast members. The video below shows our resident “elves” hard at work in our warehouse where most of the resort’s yuletide trimmings are stored. From gathering garland to unboxing bows, they ensure every detail of décor is ready to make the season bright at the Disneyland Resort. A few fun facts about decorating for the holidays at the Disneyland Resort: The exterior of Main Street, U.S.A., features approximately 220 garlands that measure more than four miles long, with approximately 80 wreaths and 120 bows bringing the season to life on this charming street. It takes nearly three dozen cast members 35 days to install the glittering façade of “it’s a small world” Holiday and nearly 18 days to decorate the holiday attraction’s dazzling interior. The Disneyland Christmas tree stands 60-feet tall on Main Street, U.S.A. and features 1,500 Victorian-inspired ornaments with 100 oversized faux candles. Sleeping Beauty’s Winter Castle shimmers during the day and is illuminated each night with more than 126,000 twinkling LED lights, sparkling “icicles” and shimmering snow-capped turrets. A 50-foot Christmas tree adorns Carthay Circle to help guests get in the holiday spirit. The tree and surrounding buildings are decorated with vintage-style ornaments in keeping with the theme of Buena Vista Street, inspired by Los Angeles as it appeared when Walt Disney arrived in the 1920s. One of the many reasons Epcot is so special is the opportunity to experience art, history and diverse world cultures firsthand. One of my favorite of these places in the park – the Gallery of Arts and History in the Morocco pavilion – just reopened with a new exhibit, “Race Against the Sun: Ancient Technique to Modern Competition.” “Race Against the Sun” showcases two incredible modern-day competitions – Marathon des Sables (Marathon of the Sands) and Rallye Aïcha des Gazelles du Maroc (Rally of the Gazelles) – as well as the rich history of the ancient inhabitants of the Sahara, the Berbers. The exhibit features immersive experiences, including a lifelike diorama of Marathon of the Sands with race gear and trophies from Moroccan competitors, and an interactive photo opportunity highlighting Rally of the Gazelles – the off-road, all-woman desert rally. Each of these intense competitions take place in the Sahara Desert, and guests can also discover how the Sahara’s original inhabitants, the Berbers, mastered the challenges of living in the formidable environment. In celebration of the new exhibit, you can get a taste of what it’s like to participate in an intense desert competition. At Tangerine Café in the Morocco pavilion, discover “sellou,” a food highlighted in “Race Against the Sun” that marathon participants commonly eat during their race. With ingredients like almonds and sesame seeds, this energy-packed snack gives runners the boost they need to complete their journey. “Race Against the Sun” is part of the continued evolution of Epcot, introducing fantastic experiences that extend the unique spirit and vision of the park.
