  2. Two witty Cast Members have been named Skippers of the Year at Magic Kingdom Park and received an honor that’s no joke: their photos are now part of the themed show! Jay Friesner, an Attractions Host at Jungle Cruise, and Richard Reyes, Food & Beverage Coordinator at Jungle Navigation Co. LTD Skipper Canteen were both nominated and selected by their peers for representing the best attributes of a Skipper, and photos of the wisecracking pair were captured and aged by Walt Disney Imagineering to match the 1930’s timeframe for the adventurous locations. Guests can spot the photos on Skipper of the Year plaques located inside the Jungle Cruise queue and along the wall of Jungle Navigation Co. LTD Skipper Canteen – while also interacting with the real life Skippers. Started last year at Magic Kingdom Park, it’s a truly unique recognition program that could only happen at Disney. Check out this video of Jay and Richard showing off their plaques in the attraction queue and restaurant: The Skipper of the Year awards join a number of other recent announcements for Jungle Cruise fans, including the launch of the annual Jingle Cruise holiday attraction overlay and next summer’s “Jungle Cruise” film starring Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt. 4. Sleigh bells ring, are yah listenin’? Saratoga Springs Resort — A Disney Vacation Club Resort We’ve had so much fun spotting all of the different gingerbread displays tucked around Disney World. What’ve we found so far? A whole gingerbread lineup including supersized displays like the Grand Floridian Gingerbread House, the Beach Club Gingerbread Carousel, the Contemporary Gingerbread Castle, and the new Wilderness Lodge Gingerbread Cabin. Well today, we spotted a smaller display at Saratoga Springs that is still super impressive! There’s something so cool about how much detail the Disney chefs put into their gingerbread displays and the new gingerbread town in the Saratoga Springs lobby is no exception. The display is out in the lobby from 9 am to 9 pm so that guests can swing by and check out that awesome gingerbread-y craftsmanship! Saratoga Springs Gingerbread Display There are five separate little gingerbread structures all connected by chocolate wafer stepping stones. Look at this pretty church complete with icing detailing and a shiny star at the top of the steeple! Saratoga Springs Gingerbread Display The house next to the church reminds us of the Grand Floridian Gingerbread House and has super detailed icing-cicles (okay, okay… icing icicles). Saratoga Springs Gingerbread Display And up next, another structure that reminds us of another display. There’s a little gingerbread carousel! A tribute to the Beach Club display? Could be! Or maybe they just like carousels! Saratoga Springs Gingerbread Display There’s a little yellow house, complete with a stable holding the CUTEST gingerbread horses! Saratoga Springs Gingerbread Display And finally, a brick Post Office for the town. The rickety gingerbread shingles on this building are one of our favorite parts of the whole display! Saratoga Springs Gingerbread Display All together the display is adorable and impressive and the level of detail means you could look at it all day. Plenty of guests have found themselves examining the display — there were groups in front of the table the whole time we were there! Saratoga Springs Gingerbread Display In true Disney World Resort Gingerbread fashion, there are some tasty Christmas-y snacks available just nearby. That way if you get hungry looking at all that gingerbread in the town, you don’t have to go too far to get your fix! We spotted these smiling gingerbread men for $4.50. Saratoga Springs Gingerbread Display There’s a collection of gingerbread macarons for $14.00. We LOVE macarons so these look SO good. Saratoga Springs Gingerbread Display If you’re feeling really hungry, you can take home a WHOLE gingerbread house for $42. You could even impress your friends by telling them you made it, we don’t judge! Saratoga Springs Gingerbread Display If gingerbread isn’t your snack style, you can also nibble on some peppermint bark for $5.99 to make sure you get some of those winter flavors. Saratoga Springs Gingerbread Display Aaaaannnd if you want to get on the gingerbread house building train for yourself, there’s a kit to make your own gingerbread house for $35! Saratoga Springs Gingerbread Display There’s also more of the merch from the Gingerbread collection! We’ve spotted exclusive merch at other gingerbread displays around Disney and there are items at Saratoga Springs too! Here’s a gingerbread mug for $24.99 featuring our favorite French princess — Belle! Saratoga Springs Gingerbread Display This commemorative pin for $17.99 also features Belle and Beast dressed in their Christmas best. Saratoga Springs Gingerbread Display And you can grab this candy stripe ornament for $14.99 that celebrates the Saratoga Springs gingerbread display! Saratoga Springs Gingerbread Display All together, we L-O-V-E the beautiful new gingerbread at Saratoga Springs! Hopefully this display will be around for years to come, but in the mean time, you can check it out in the lobby at Saratoga Springs. 6. I scream, you scream, we all scream for…waffle tacos??? Ample Hills Listen, we all know it, but waffles are a HOT commodity in Disney World. From the cult-favorite bubble waffles in Disney Springs to the absolutely beloved Mickey waffles found all over the parks and resorts, Disney guests are certainly not ones to pass up on a waffle treat. Can you blame us? Waffles are pretty darn good. Well, we caught wind of a new Holiday Ice Cream Taco at Ample Hills Creamery and we were on it like syrup on breakfast! The Ice Cream Taco appeared near Halloween before moving to a more secret menu and it now has new Christmas sprinkles to make it seasonal once more! This sundae is comprised of your choice of ice cream loaded up in a waffle taco shell (dipped in chocolate… yum!) and covered with your choice of toppings. Ample Hills Creamery Ice Cream Taco We chose a newer ice cream flavor called The Munchies. Munchies is made with pretzel-infused ice cream with a mix of crackers, potato chips, pretzels, and crushed chocolate candy. Savory and sweet?? YES, PLEASE! This honestly might be a new fave flavor for us. Our waffle shell was made to order but Cast Members told us that they keep them in stock as much as they can since the demand just keeps going up for the Ice Cream Taco. Ample Hills Creamery Ice Cream Taco They FILL these things up, which we totally appreciate. But ours was SO full that the shell started to break! Maybe our taco shell was a little too fresh, so you might want to speed through snacking on this one or grab a bowl and spoon just in case! Pandora Christmas Decorations Peeking in the windows, we could see some vintage pieces of Christmastime nostalgia including this jolly-looking Santa toy… Pandora Christmas Decorations …and even Mickey Mouse makes a guest appearance in his little scarf and sweater! Pandora Christmas Decorations There were also lots of paper Christmas decorations haphazardly taped to the windows like this adorable one of ol’ Saint Nick! Pandora Christmas Decorations But our favorite homage to the guy in the big red suit was the bio mech suit Santa Claus! 11. We may be past the time of jack o’ lanterns, but pumpkins are still going strong for the autumn season! Animal Kingdom Lodge Stopping by the Mara in Animal Kingdom Lodge always means taking a peek into the bakery case to see if there are any tasty new treats for us to try. We’ve seen adorable cupcakes and memorable seasonal offerings in the past and today we found a super cute new fall snack! Check out the Mickey’s Pumpkin Patch; bet you want to know what we thought!!! Mickey’s Pumpkin Patch is a mousse-based desert with a unique mixture of flavors! It’s a dark chocolate ganache tart topped with a pumpkin mousse, pistachio crumble, and buttercream decorations. Mickey’s Pumpkin Patch Mara The whole thing looks like a big ol’ growing pumpkin with the buttercream making up the leaves and stem and it is SO cute! As for what we thought, this thing is really good. Honestly, we could probably snack on a whole bowl of that pumpkin mousse. We found the chocolate tart to be really rich and thought it sorta overpowered the pumpkin when taking a bite of them together, so we preferred to eat them separately. Mickey’s Pumpkin Patch Mara The pistachio is super subtle too, so if you’re not a pistachio person don’t let that deter you because the pumpkin and the chocolate are definitely the main events! Mickey’s Pumpkin Patch Mara Overall, this treat is supah tasty and we’d definitely get it again. Try it for yourself before this seasonal offering disappears for $5.49 at the Mara. We don’t know how long it’ll be around, but we don’t think it’ll stick around for too much longer! If you love pumpkin, don’t miss it! Looking for MORE pumpkin treats in Disney World? You’ll find a whole bunch of ’em here! What do you think of this cute little pumpkin treat? Let us know in the comments! 15. Sanaa is one of the most popular restaurants at the Walt Disney World Resort, known for its incredible bread service, African-inspired cuisine and, of course, its incredible views of the lush Sunset Savannah. It is here that you can sit back and enjoy a delectable meal while taking in the spectacular views of African wildlife right outside the windows of the restaurant. With animals including gazelle, zebras, kudu, giraffes, ostriches, cranes, and more, they’re sure to make your meal a memorable experience. The restaurant currently offers wonderful table-service dining for both lunch and dinner, but did you know that Sanaa now features a delicious breakfast menu? Recently, our talented chefs at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge created the Sanaa Kuamsha Breakfast – served from 7:00am to 10:00am – for those guests looking for an early-morning meal. Highlighting a variety of different flavors inspired by authentic African cuisine, this new dining experience transforms Sanaa into a casual quick-service restaurant featuring grab-and-go options as well as a few familiar dishes with a unique twist that you can only find at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge. When you approach the counter, you’ll be greeted with a variety of grab-and-go items including yogurt parfaits, fruit plates, banana bread with house-made African chocolate-hazelnut spread, and more. And if you’re looking for a heartier, sit-down dining experience, you can browse a full menu of entrees which can be ordered at the counter and brought directly to your table! On the entrée menu, you’ll find several familiar dishes complemented with unique African flavors. These dishes include Eggs Benedict (with two brown poached eggs, farmer’s ham, spice route hollandaise, arugula, and berries), Shahi Tukra French Toast (with saffron-scented sultan raisins, whipped chai cream, and almonds), and the Methi Paratha Wrap, which features scrambled eggs, potatoes masala, gouda, chermoula, and papaya achar. And for a plant-based option, you can try the Enriching Grains and Fruit dish with mixed grains, seasonal fruit, South African rusk, and coconut milk yogurt. The Boere Breakfast is another incredible plate with two cage-free eggs, African home fries, house-made boerewors sausage, bacon, and a coconut drop biscuit. 17. The holiday season is in full swing at Disneyland! Trader Sam’s While we’ve loved seeing all the way that Disneyland has decked the halls, we think we might have found our new favorite place when it comes to holiday decorations on the West Coast… Today we hit up Trader Sam’s at the Disneyland Hotel to check out their new holiday decor and, folks, we were NOT disappointed! Trader Sam’s It’s the most wonderful time for a beer, or a fun cocktail, or delicious app! You can enjoy them all while you take in this amazing poinsettia display at the bar! Trader Sam’s Trader Sam is getting a head start on the holiday game with this very, errr, special family tree wreath! Notice the tiny little stockings hung with care! Trader Sam’s Minimalism is NOT a thing over at Trader Sam’s, so there’s no space left undecorated (though it never feels Claus-trophobic). The green and red Santa banner is just another example of some festive cheer in our favorite tiki bar! Trader Sam’s Because it’s the holidays, you need to add some poinsettias to the mix, because why not? It’s the time of year to spruce things up, and these are looking pine (tree puns are in, right?). Our Thoughts We think that this is a worthwhile resort if you are traveling with a large group of people. The hotel offers a good number of options for big families and has a large number of useful appliances in the rooms. They’re spacious and offer options for storage and privacy, especially in the rooms that have more than one sink or bathroom. One-Bedroom Villa Now, unless you’re looking to splurge, this resort will prove to be a bit pricey for those traveling in smaller parties. And while the Tower Room is an interesting new concept, it looks like it’ll cost over $300 for one night. One-Bedroom Villa Restroom But, if you are looking to spend some extra dollars, this new resort is going to be new and STUNNING. There will be lots of exciting new amenities and dining locations to explore. The rooms are light, airy, and up to date, and the attention to detail that Disney put into this resort is breathtaking! Marceline’s Confectionery And while Marceline’s Confectionery has already given us so many Christmas presents this year including the Santa Hamm Caramel Apple (we can’t even deal with how adorable this thing is!) and the Churro Marshmallow Wand (which has caused quite the confectionery commotion!), they’re bringing us another — the Mickey Snowman Caramel Apple! 23. Mark your calendars and set your “goals” for 2020! On Jan. 8, 2020, Anaheim Ducks Day will once again return to Disney California Adventure park. Whether you’re a fan of Disney, Anaheim Ducks or both, celebrate the day with us, and take part in special hockey activities, photo opportunities and memorable experiences that will literally have you saying… “Ducks Score!” Did You Know? The National Hockey League club was founded in 1993 by The Walt Disney Company and was originally known as the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, a name which was inspired by the 1992 film, “The Mighty Ducks.” The name remained the same until the 2006-2007 season, when the club officially became known as the Anaheim Ducks. More information on Anaheim Ducks Day will become available next month, so please check back on the Disney Parks Blog or at AnaheimDucks.com/DucksDay. 24. The gingerbread displays keep rollin’ in! Boardwalk Entrance And on a trip through Disney’s BoardWalk Inn’s lobby this morning, we saw this deluxe Disney World’s resort’s gingerbread display was comin’ along nicely! Although the display wasn’t finished yet, to us, it totally looked good enough to eat! And while the 2019 Disney’s Boardwalk Inn made out gingerbread, chocolate and candies closely resembles displays from previous years, its festive details and gorgeous confectionery artistry are really putting us in the holiday spirit! BoardWalk Inn Gingerbread Display The BoardWalk Inn’s gingerbread display is everything we love about this Disney World resort. The structure is replicated by pastry chefs who really know a thing or two about gingerbread and the BoardWalk! BoardWalk Inn Gingerbread Display Perhaps one of our favorite buildings is the BoardWalk Bakery, which has a little window where you can peek inside! BoardWalk Inn Gingerbread Display This year it looks like Mickey and Minnie Mouse are manning the shop! We don’t see any of our favorite Boardwalk Bakery breakfast sandwiches (Ooey Gooey for the win!), but we do see plenty of sweet tasty-looking treats and other goodies! BoardWalk Inn Gingerbread Display Outside of the bakery, a sweet Christmas tree is adorned with little fondant decorations of bakery supplies including measuring spoons, recipe cards, and cutting boards — too cute! BoardWalk Inn Gingerbread Display Further down the boardwalk, we spotted the superfly Flying Fish! BoardWalk Inn Gingerbread Display It also had a Christmas tree out front featuring nautical elements like starfish, shells, and little blue fish candies — but remember, “fish are friends, not food!” BoardWalk Inn Gingerbread Display The ESPN Club is going to PUMP YOU UP if you’re not already excited about the Christmas season! BoardWalk Inn Gingerbread Display Meanwhile, their tree is decorated with baseballs and basketballs, topped with an ESPN Club pennant! BoardWalk Inn Gingerbread Display And while Trattoria al Forno is known for its Italian cuisine and Bon Voyage Character breakfast, things have taken a turn for the sweet now that the restaurant has been remodeled out of gingerbread! BoardWalk Inn Gingerbread Display We love spotting all the little details of this year’s gingerbread BoardWalk Inn! Check out this little Popcorn cart! We can almost smell the kernels popping! BoardWalk Inn Gingerbread Display And how charming is this little hotdog stand? We’d love to see the size of the tiny hotdogs it’s servin’! BoardWalk Inn Gingerbread Display We’d also love to hang this miniature wreath on our front door for the holidays! BoardWalk Inn Gingerbread Display And as you probably already know, Disney’s BoardWalk Inn is a magical place to tie the knot! Check out the romantic pergola complete with a wedding cake! BoardWalk Inn Gingerbread Display There’s also the gazebo — just like the one you’ll find overlooking Cresent Lake — and is that Cinderella’s carriage we spy? It sure is! BoardWalk Inn Gingerbread Display While the Disney’s BoardWalk Inn gingerbread display is still undergoing construction, Cast Members informed us there will be treats soon! In the meantime, you can check out the Grand Floridian’s Gingerbread House, Contemporary Resort’s Gingerbread Castle, Wilderness Lodge’s Gingerbread Cabin, and Beach Club’s Gingerbread Carousel! 25. Cookies and cream and a classic holiday flavor? That sounds pepper-MINT TO BE! Trilo Bites There’s a lot of peppermint treats in Disney World this year! We’re still dreaming about that Peppermint Bubble Waffle in Disney Springs and the Peppermint Ice Cream Sandwich in Animal Kingdom. And y’all there’s ANOTHER peppermint treat chillin’ in Animal Kingdom. Join us at Trilo-Bites in Dinoland U. S. A. to give their new Peppermint Cookies and Cream Milkshake a try! We love peppermint, and who doesn’t love cookies and cream?? So we were pretty psyched to get our hands on this new treat. What we found was that this is pretty much the Oreo Milkshake that replaced one of our all-time fav boozy Smokey Bones shake a few months back. All Disney did was add a few crushed peppermint pieces and a mini candy cane to the top. Trilo Bites Peppermint Cookies and Cream Milkshake Overall, this shake was tasty but it’s still a little underwhelming. The peppermint flavor is SUPER understated, in fact, we think all of the peppermint may have been in the topping. We would’ve liked to see a little more peppermint in the shake itself too! But maybe mixing it up a bit with your straw would help that out some?! Try that out and let us know your thoughts. Trilo Bites Peppermint Cookies and Cream Milkshake If you’re a cookies and cream-lover, go for it! But if you’re looking for something a little more pepperminty you’ve gotta try the Peppermint Ice Cream Sandwich, the Peppermint Bark Churro, or the Peppermint Soft-Serve. If you do want to get your sip on with the Peppermint Cookies and Cream milkshake, swing by Trilo-Bites in Animal Kingdom and you can grab one for $5.49.
