  1. Walking miles and miles around Disney World is much easier said than done. Ever been on day two of your week-long vacation and realize you’re already hurting? Yeah, we’ve been there. We love a good pair of shoes That’s why it’s super important to choose shoes that you’ve broken in previously, and you know will support your feet instead of causing additional pain. Don’t know where to start? We’ve got you covered — these are two essentials we think are VERY important to have when you know you may experience some foot pain on your vacation. DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. The Right Shoes HOKA Clifton 10 We know, we know, HOKA shoes are EXPENSIVE. We’ve seen those price tags, and they make us do a double-take every time as well. However, we’ve tried these ourselves numerous times, especially these HOKA Clifton 10s, and they really are the shoes that won’t let you down. They’re comfortable, supportive, come in lots of different colors and styles, so you can find the one that’s perfect for you, and you won’t have to worry about your feet killing you starting on day 2. Our Hokas There’s a reason you see people in these ALL over Disney World, including Cast Members! We’ve also seen lots of workers in other places wear them, especially if they’re on their feet a lot (like working in a hospital, in retail, etc.). And think of this — if you wear shoes that AREN’T supportive on a vacation you’ve already spent so much money on, and your feet start to hurt so bad you can’t do all you wanted to, then you’re basically wasting money already spent. Grab them right here! Support Your Back VentaPak Lightweight Ventilation Backpack Spacer If you’re traveling to Disney World with a large group, or you’re otherwise wearing a large backpack, those things can get HEAVY super quick. Soon, it won’t only be your feet hurting, especially if you struggle with good posture. That’s where the VentaPak comes in! It attaches to your existing backpack (works best with larger backpacks — be sure to pay close attention to the dimensions to be sure it’ll fit ahead of time), and helps you ensure you’ve got the correct posture to keep yourself pain-free. VentaPak in Disney World It’ll also help keep more airflow between you and the bag, avoiding that uncomfortable sweat patch that often forms at any time of year, but especially in the summertime (and then you walk into a restaurant and the AC is BLASTING, you’re suddenly freezing? Not fun!). It’s helped us a ton more than we expected for it, too, and we found that when we took it off and accidentally forgot it at home, we regretted it pretty quickly. Grab it right here! We’re in the parks every day to bring you the latest news, updates, and suggestions to help make sure your trip runs as smoothly as possible, so stay tuned to DFB! View the full article

  3. It’s certainly no secret that we’re pretty passionate about dining at Disney World. We are Disney Food Blog, after all. For most table service restaurants around the parks and beyond, you’ll want to book an Advanced Dining Reservation (or ADR). Time to eat! Recently, though, we’ve been seeing some changes to how you book dining reservations in the My Disney Experience app, including updates to the allergy section of the booking process. And now, it looks like another change has hit the Advance Dining Reservations section of the Disney World app. Here’s what we know. Typically, when you go to make Advanced Dining Reservations in the My Disney Experience app, everything is done within the app itself — no external browsers needed. You’re able to book the reservation entirely within the app, without needing to re-enter your password in a pop-up browser. ©Disney However, we recently noticed that it appears to no longer be the case. When we went to make an Advanced Dining Reservation in the Disney World app, we clicked on “Check Dining Availability” like we normally do, but instead of being taken to a new screen within the app… ©Disney …we were taken to a different browser window altogether and prompted to choose our party size there. ©Disney Similarly, we were able to continue making an ADR, but everything was now being done from our browser instead of the My Disney Experience app. ©Disney While this might not seem like a huge deal, it can be annoying if you’re trying to quickly make a reservation — especially because most of the time, you’re forced to sign into your Disney account again in the browser, which can cost you precious time. We’re also not sure if this is a permanent change or if it’s just a glitch with the Disney World app at the moment. Boatwright’s Dining Hall has a new menu! When making or modifying Park Pass Reservations in the My Disney Experience app, it’s not done within the app itself — when you click to Make or Modify Park Reservations, a new browser window opens, and you have to finish making those selections there. Disney may have updated the Advanced Dining Reservation process to match the Park Pass Reservation one, but we’re hoping that’s not the case. Full spread We’ll be on the lookout for even more updates to the Disney World app and Advanced Dining Reservations. 4. I think everyone has that one childhood moment or memory that made them fall in love with Disney. Mine began with Disney on Broadway. Aladdin was one of the first shows that ignited my lifelong passion for theatre and storytelling, which led me to attend college and live in New York City, work on Broadway, and now be here as part of the Disney Parks Blog team. Live theatre unites, inspires, and captivates us in a way that no other form of entertainment does, and Disney on Broadway productions have that extra dose of special Disney magic. You may think that experiencing this joy requires a trip to New York City or waiting for a touring production to stop in your city, but there’s another place where your favorite stories and characters come to life onstage. Each year, EPCOT International Festival of the Arts allows guests to encounter the performing, visual, and culinary arts as part of one epic event. If you’ve ever waited hours in an early morning rush ticket line, stood at a stage door eagerly snapping photos and gathering signatures, or collected more Playbills than you could ever possibly need, Festival of the Arts is for you. I’ve planned the perfect day for my fellow theatre fans jam-packed with immersive exhibits, tasty treats, and star-studded performances, so let’s raise the curtain and let the fun begin! Act 1: Explore Once Upon A Stage: The Magic of Disney on Broadway As you set off on your theatre-filled day, I suggest first making your way to CommuniCore Hall, where the museum-style exhibit Once Upon A Stage: The Magic of Disney on Broadway is currently on display. Stepping inside this space immediately transports you into a show-stopping world of costumes, props, and set pieces from beloved Disney on Broadway productions like Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, The Lion King, Mary Poppins, Aladdin, Newsies, Frozen, and Hercules. If you’re someone like me who sees a show and dreams of getting to analyze the little details up close, this is a unique opportunity to do just that as you ooh and aah over everything from complex miniature set models to extravagant costumes. Get A Close Look at Intricate Costumes Every time I leave a Disney on Broadway show, the costumes are often what stay with me long after the curtain call, with every stitch and sequin playing a part in the story. Whether it was watching Caissie Levy’s breathtaking dress change during “Let it Go” or the cast of The Lion King taking the stage in their remarkable ensembles during “Circle of Life,” I have many memories of Disney’s costumes leaving a lasting impression on me. Here at EPCOT, you can see costumes worn by so many beloved Broadway performers over the years. Aladdin’s sparkling beads, Swarovski crystals, and vibrant textured fabrics are on full display, while The Lion King’s headpieces showcase the impressive craftsmanship that goes into creating these elements of a show. Spot Iconic Props and Set Pieces A production isn’t complete without props or a set, and you can find plenty of those here as well. Some of my favorites were Genie’s lamp (this is a great photo op, too) and the Enchanted Rose from Beauty and the Beast. And new this year is a magnificent Pride Rock from The Lion King, which makes you feel like you’re prowling the Pride Lands. And I must mention the incredible puppets like Sven and Olaf made by Michael Curry for Frozen. It was surreal getting to see the design and mechanics of these after admiring them from afar. Admire Beauty and the Beast Costumes Speaking of Beauty and the Beast, the costumes from the current North American tour were the ones I was most excited to see at this exhibit! Belle has always been my favorite Disney character, and I’m counting the days until the production stops in Los Angeles this summer. I loved seeing the ways Tony Award-winning costume designer Ann Hould-Ward stayed true to the animated film’s classic aesthetic, but added more contemporary touches like Belle’s rounded glasses, embroidered details on many of the pieces, and fresh silhouettes. Don’t Miss These Details The exhibit doesn’t just highlight what audiences see onstage during a show, it also captures the choreography happening backstage before, during, and after a performance. Get a peek into what’s unfolding in the wings at the hair and makeup station covered with wigs and cosmetic products, or arguably the most essential component of any production to ensure the show goes on — the stage manager’s calling desk. You may also spot a ghost light, which is a traditional Broadway safety measure (and maybe superstition, too) tucked away, as well as many adorably themed trinkets and some hidden Mickeys to discover. This exhibit is not only a shining summary of Disney on Broadway’s storied history, but also serves as an homage to anyone who has worked in theatre and a love letter to the fans who have been in the audience from the start. Intermission: Enjoy Photo Ops, Themed Bites and Beverages, and More When you’re ready to say farewell to the glittering Disney on Broadway marquee inside CommuniCore Hall, there are still plenty of ways to fill your day (and your stomach) with Festival of the Arts flair. Snap a photo with the larger-than-life Genie lamp at the Aladdin display right outside, or maybe enjoy the chocolate Enchanted Rose dessert from the neighboring Opening Bites food studio. Peruse the selection of artists at the festival with their picturesque pieces, add a pop of color to The Expression Section: A Paint by Number Mural, join Figment’s Brush with the Masters Scavenger Hunt, pick up some exclusive merchandise, or snack and sip on any of the Disney Eats festival offerings throughout the park. Every moment feels magical when you’re engaging with the arts in creative, hands-on, and delicious ways. EPCOT is also home to attractions and entertainment that will feel familiar after spending time immersed in the world of Disney on Broadway. Lend your voice to the Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along, meet characters like Princess Jasmine, Anna and Elsa, or Belle throughout the World Showcase, or enjoy a chilly ride on Frozen Ever After. There are endless artistic activities that you can choose to occupy the rest of your day, many with ties to theatre! Act 2: Experience the DISNEY ON BROADWAY Concert Series The grand finale of your day should absolutely be grabbing a seat to watch the DISNEY ON BROADWAY Concert Series, taking place each evening at the America Gardens Theatre in the American Adventure pavilion. Here, you’ll enjoy soaring show tunes sung by some of Disney on Broadway’s biggest and brightest stars, including original Broadway cast members from Aladdin, The Little Mermaid, TARZAN, Beauty and the Beast, and Mary Poppins. We’ve already revealed this year’s full lineup of performers, and it is full of talent! Enjoy Dinner and a Show Having a nice pre-show dinner is always one of my favorite theatre-going traditions, and a dining package is a great way to indulge in a meal before the music. There are 14 different table-service dining experiences at a variety of EPCOT eateries that you can choose from, and all secure you guaranteed priority seating when the lights dim and the score starts to play. I love having this as an option; it allows you to enjoy a leisurely dinner at some of EPCOT’s finest eateries before settling in for the show, and feels just like a special night out on the Great White Way! The power of live theatre is unparalleled, and the DISNEY ON BROADWAY Concert Series is a remarkable reminder that you don’t have to be in the Big Apple to experience this unique magic: It can be found wherever we wish, even here at EPCOT. And for those in the audience, maybe this will be the moment that sparks a passion for the arts the way Aladdin did for me a decade ago. A Taste of Broadway at EPCOT Take it from someone who saw Aladdin in its first year on Broadway (and has since seen the show six times), experienced Frozen’s out of town production in Denver, and recently enjoyed Hercules on the West End in London — Festival of the Arts is the ultimate time for dedicated theatre fans (like myself) to visit Walt Disney World. This one-of-a-kind celebration of the stage elevates your day at EPCOT into one full of artistic touches, dazzling performances, and moments of connection that make us feel like a part of the stories we know and love. You can find more Festival of the Arts stories here on the Disney Parks Blog, and keep an eye out for news about other upcoming Festivals at EPCOT. 6. On any given night, you can probably catch us watching the latest shows and movies on Disney+ or Hulu. Now that the streaming services have been combined into one app for those who subscribe to both, it’s so much easier to scroll through the app and figure out what we’re going to watch! ©Disney/Hulu Disney+ recently updated its subscriber agreement, including some clarification on billing and payments, and now it looks like Hulu is doing the same. Here’s what you need to know. In an email to subscribers, Hulu has revealed key changes to its subscriber agreement. There are several changes, but three have been highlighted as especially important. The first update is a clarification on details related to the billing and payment process, including definitions of subscription terms and billing periods. ©Disney Second, Hulu has added information to clarify how cancellation works and when cancellation is effective. They confirmed that nothing is currently changing with current subscriptions unless requested. Cancelling and managing plans is still “just as easy,” according to the update. ©Disney Hulu is also adding information related to gift cards purchased through ESPN. ©ESPN These new terms are now in effect for new subscribers. For prior and existing subscribers, the new terms will begin on March 25th, 2026. You can also acknowledge an in-app notice of the changes earlier, if you choose to do so. Hulu advised that once effective, these changes will “govern your use and enjoyment of your Disney+, Hulu, or ESPN subscription.” Overall, though, these changes shouldn’t impact you or your subscription directly. ©Disney We love Hulu and Disney+, especially because of the perks. If you want to learn more about this service, you can check out the details here. ©Disney We’ll be on the lookout for additional subscriber agreement updates you need to know about for Hulu, Disney+, and beyond. 7. Universal Orlando has started selling a new weeklong ticket that includes park-to-park access and multiday visits to Epic Universe theme park. Universal’s official website says buyers can “move freely” between Epic, Universal Studios Florida, Islands of Adventure and Volcano Bay water park. There are six-day and seven-day varieties, and the admissions must take place over eight and nine consecutive days, respectively. There’s also an option to exclude Volcano Bay. The resort is promoting that the weeklong deal is for the “price of a 5-day ticket,” but the total varies day by day, and the lowest price is available only on select dates. The first valid day of the ticket determines the overall price. Universal’s site notes that the low end is $73.72 per day for ages 10 and up ($72.29 for ages 3-9). The site shows that as available on Sept. 14, and that total would be $515.99 — the same as a five-day park-to-park pass starting on that date. But if July 2 is selected as the first day of the weeklong admission, the price is $686.99. This is a limited-time offer, Universal says. The available first dates online go through Oct. 19. Generally speaking, prices are highest during the Spring Break and Easter weeks and from mid-May through mid-August. Currently, a Universal Orlando annual pass with no block-out dates for Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios sells for $629.99. (The resort deal now honors that ticket for 15 months.) Annual passes do not include Epic Universe, which opened in May 2025, but passholders can purchase discounted day tickets for the new park. In addition, Universal Orlando is introducing a $300 hotel dining credit when customers book a stay of five nights or longer for Cabana Bay Beach Resort, Aventura Hotel, Stella Nova Resort or Terra Luna Resort. As with all ticket deals, key details are be found in fine print. For instance, the weeklong tickets are non-transferable and do not include parking fees, plus Volcano Bay is closed on select dates. 8. If you think the most important time in Disney World is rope drop, we need to talk about 10 AM. Rope Drop in Hollywood Studios Everyone focuses on those first thirty minutes in the park, but seasoned Disney fans know the real strategy kicks in once the initial rush wears off. By 10 AM, the adrenaline has settled, crowds are building, and your choices can either set you up for a smooth afternoon or total chaos. If you want to tour like a pro, these are four 10AM habits experts practice every single trip. Slowing Down for Breakfast Before It’s Gone After rope dropping a couple of headliners, 10 AM is usually when we ease up and finally grab breakfast. Most quick service spots switch to lunch around 10:30 or so, and this is your sweet spot if you still want those breakfast sandwiches or Mickey waffles. Mickey Waffle platter The key is timing. Knock out your priority rides first, then mobile order breakfast around 9:45 AM for a pickup window shortly after 10. That way, you’ll avoid the early morning food lines and still get the menu you actually wanted. It feels intentional instead of rushed, and it keeps you from inhaling a random pretzel at 11:15 because you waited too long. Avoiding the “Painful Ride” Stack We love a thrill ride as much as anyone, but stacking intense attractions back to back first thing can wreck the rest of your day. By 10 AM, experts start mixing in lower-impact experiences. This is when we pivot to shows, indoor attractions, slow boat rides, or character meet and greets. Living with the Land It gives your body a break before the heat and crowds really settle in. There is nothing worse than feeling queasy at 12:30 because you decided to marathon coasters at 8:15. Spreading those out keeps your energy steady and your stomach happy. Mobile Ordering Lunch Before the Rush If you only adopt one 10 AM habit, let it be this one. By 10 AM, prime lunch pickup windows are already disappearing at popular quick service locations. Instead of waiting until you are starving at noon and discovering the only available pickup time is 2:40 PM, place your lunch order now. Mobile Order You can usually modify the time later if plans shift, but at least you have something secured. It takes less than two minutes in the app, and it removes so much midday stress. Future you will be incredibly grateful when everyone else is wandering around hangry, and you already have a plan. Regrouping and Hydrating Before the Peak 10 AM is also the perfect time for a mini reset. This is when we pause to refill water bottles, eat a snack we brought from home, and reapply sunscreen before the Florida sun gets aggressive. Water bottle refill station in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge It is also when we look ahead at the next two or three hours. What waits are climbing? What’s nearby? Does anyone need a break? Taking five intentional minutes to regroup keeps you from making frantic decisions once the crowds peak. Water dispensers Mastering rope drop is great, but mastering 10 AM is what keeps your whole day from unraveling. Build these habits into your morning routine, and you’ll feel the difference by mid-afternoon. As always, we are here to help you plan smarter, eat better, and stress less at Disney World. 9. Disney’s Animal Kingdom has been going through it lately, and the pain isn’t over just yet! Disney’s Animal Kingdom We’re sure that you remember that DINOSAUR and the rest of DinoLand U.S.A. permanently closed on February 2nd to make way for the new Tropical Americas land. Unfortunately, things are about to get worse at the beloved park, because more closures are just around the corner! In just four days, starting on February 23rd, the Affection Section at Rafiki’s Planet Watch in Animal Kingdom will be temporarily closing. The Affection Section is where you encounter a variety of adorable animals at Disney World’s one and only petting zoo. Affection Section The Affection Section will be closing to make way for a new Bluey experience coming to the park for Cool KIDS’ SUMMER. Actually, this will be the first Bluey experience at Disney World. So it will be interesting when the beloved Blue Heeler comes to the park! Rafiki’s Planet Watch We wish we could say that’s the only closure, but that is not the case. Disney also announced that this temporary closure will affect the Wildlife Express Train, which is the ONLY way to get from the main part of Animal Kingdom over to Rafiki’s Planet Watch. So, that means this entire section of the park will also be closed until summer. Ok, that actually is a massive bummer! Rafiki’s Planet Watch The one thing we can breathe about is that these closures are only temporary! There is no indication of when they will reopen, but Cool KIDS’ SUMMER officially kicks off on May 26th and runs through September 8th. We’ll be on the lookout for more details! The train will be entirely closed! Another experience that will be closing is The Animation Experience at Conservation Station. The experience will no longer be available on the same day, February 23rd. That too is closing to make way for the new Bluey adventure coming in the Summer. Disney hasn’t clarified whether it is only closing temporarily or not, based on the notice on Disney World’s website. We’ll keep an eye out for any announcements! The Animation Experience With everything happening at Animal Kingdom, maybe the park has really become a half-day park (at least for now). Yes, we’re looking forward to seeing this new Bluey experience this summer. We know that the kids will love it, but for the time being…it’s going to be tough. Disney’s Animal Kingdom There’s still lots to do at Animal Kingdom, but with all the construction and closures, it’s going to look a lot different for guests traveling to Disney World right now. Hey, you still need to go to the park for Pandora, Flight of Passage, and Expedition Everest alone! Plus, they still have the Safari and Nomad Lounge churros cure-all. So, there are still lots of must-sees to check out! Pandora We’re always keeping an eye out for the latest Disney news, so make sure to follow us at the Disney Food Blog to not miss a thing! 15. While construction is rampant across Walt Disney World in 2026 — with major projects at both the Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios — arguably no Disney World park is being affected more than Animal Kingdom. You can now see the Casita in the background! With DINOSAUR –– and all of DinoLand U.S.A. — shuttered for good, and Tropical Americas (including its Indiana Jones and Encanto attractions) still some time away, Disney World’s youngest theme park is in a state of transition right now, and guests are changing their visiting habits accordingly. Instead of Rope Dropping, Visit During the Second Half of the Day The phrase “half-day park” has been thrown around a lot recently when it comes to the current state of Animal Kingdom. While that’s debatable, even if one sees the park that way, it doesn’t mean it needs to be the first half of the day. Instead, if you plan on hitting only one park for the day, you can enjoy hitting Animal Kingdom later in the day, maybe after spending some time by the hotel pool or grabbing a brunch/lunch at Disney Springs. As the park tends to somewhat empty out by 2:00 PM, you can spend a leisurely afternoon at the park dealing with fewer crowds. Disney’s Animal Kingdom Don’t Spend on Lightning Lanes (Unless You’re in a MAJOR Rush) This one may be a bit controversial, but if you’re planning on heading to Animal Kingdom for a full day, there’s really no need to purchase Lightning Lanes, as, to be blunt, there are so few rides to ride that you’ll have time to wait for all of them. Now, one caveat: If your plan is to hit the park, ride the rides, and move on to another park by the second half of the day, it may be worth it. The best part about buying Lightning Lanes for Animal Kingdom is that it’s the cheapest option. So you won’t be paying as much and you can still use it at Magic Kingdom when you hop! Kilimanjaro Safaris Lightning Lane Take Advantage of Table Service Restaurant Options With ride options limited, you can experience some of the park’s other offerings. For example, there are table service restaurant options like Tusker House and Tiffin’s. Tiffins Menu These eateries don’t usually get the same amount of attention as others around the resort, but we love them, and it would be nice for more guests to experience them. Tusker House Put the Focus on the Animals While Disney has spent over 25 years trying to convince guests that Animal Kingdom is not a zoo (or “Nahtazu” if you’re like me and that commercial campaign has been jammed into your head since 2002), the current state of the park does lean towards treating it as one. No,w to be clear, the park is much more than that, offering intricately themed environments and massive E-Ticket attractions like Flight of Passage and Expedition Everest. However, in its current state, it makes sense for guests to indulge in the park’s animal attractions like Kilimanjaro Safaris. Tucker on Kilimanjaro Safaris! While Animal Kingdom might be a compromised park right now, following these rules will make the best of a day at the park in 2026. Stay tuned to DFB for more on Disney World in 2026. 17. It’s a sad day for fans of green beverages that taste like floral citrus, as it sounds like Green Milk will soon disappear from Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland — for good. Green Milk from the Milk Stand at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Rumors had been swirling online for a bit that Green Milk would no longer be sold at the Milk Stand in Disneyland, while Blue and Pink Milk would remain on the menu. We were able to officially get to the bottom of this news, and let’s just say, if you’re a fan of Green Milk, you might want to plan a visit to Disneyland ASAP. Our journey to confirm the future discontinuation of Green Milk was not an easy one. First, we attempted to confirm with Disney via the chat function on the Disneyland website, and we were told by a Cast Member that they had “not heard anything” about this news, but that we were welcome to check on our next visit. Green Milk Then, we reached out to a contact we had who works as a Team Lead in Galaxy’s Edge, who said that the Milk Stand would no longer be selling the Green Milk after they run out of their current supply. According to this Cast Member, the Green Milk had a demand issue and was not as popular as the Blue — or even the new, Pink — milks. Milk Stand Just to be extra, extra sure, we reached out to Disney directly — and it was confirmed that Green Milk would be discontinued from Disneyland. We also asked if this meant Green Milk would be discontinued at Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Disney World as well, but it sounds like the divisive drink will remain at Hollywood Studios. Of course, this is always subject to change in the future, but for now, it sounds like Green Milk is safe at Disney World. Blue Milk If you’re a fan of Green Milk at Galaxy’s Edge, make sure you hurry on over to Disneyland soon to get it before it’s gone! Otherwise, you’ll have to plan a trip to Hollywood Studios at Disney World to still get your fix. Pink Milk We’ll be on the lookout for more Disney snack updates you need to know about from both Disney World and Disneyland. In the meantime, make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for the latest news and more! REVIEW: We Tried Disney’s NEW Pink Milk (And 11 Other New Treats, Too!) 18. Change is a fact of life at Disney theme parks, and has been the case for over 7 decades since the first opening day Disneyland attractions closed less than a year into the park’s existence. Swiss Family Treehouse This kind of evolution is, once again, for better or worse, is currently heavy in the air at the Magic Kingdom. Disney recently closed the Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island in 2025 to replace them with the currently under-construction Cars-themed Piston Peak. Villains Land is also being built behind Big Thunder Mountain. With that news in mind, we decided to poll our readers on the potential fate of another Magic Kingdom attraction: the Swiss Family Treehouse. Located in Adventureland, this opening day Magic Kingdom attraction is described by Disney as “the island abode the Swiss Family Robinson built after they were shipwrecked on a deserted island,” where guests can “cross a bridge at the foot of a large leafy tree and climb handcrafted wooden stairs. Explore the living quarters of the famous adventurers and discover open-air rooms brimming with a bevy of 19th-century articles salvaged from the wreck.” While the Swiss Family Treehouse has been part of the Magic Kingdom since the park opened, the large footprint it occupies in the middle of Adventureland has long made its potential replacement a topic of discussion amongst fans. We decided to poll our readers across several platforms to see what they thought of the treehouse potentially being replaced, and the majority was a NO. Over 60% of our readers were against the walkthrough attraction going anywhere. Swiss Family Treehouse Many of those opposed to the change brought up their feelings of nostalgia for the attraction, as well as its connection to a time when Walt Disney was still alive and in control of the parks (While Walt did not live long enough to see any of Walt Disney World including the treehouse, he was heavily involved in the Disneyland version, which was just refurbished back into a Swiss Family Robinson attraction after spending about a quarter century themed to Tarzan). Reader Judy seemed to sum up these opinions writing, “All this change, merely for the sake of change, reminds me of what my teacher wrote in my autograph book many years ago — ‘Make new friends but keep the old. One is silver, the other gold.’” Swiss Family Treehouse Others, like reader Nicole, pointed out that Disney should have enough room to expand in Florida without closing older attractions. They wrote, “No stop replacing things with new stuff. Disney has so much land. Just build new stuff and keep the old stuff. More attractions spread people out.” However, there was a vocal minority (a shade under 40%) who felt that it was time to do away with the treehouse. Some of these readers pointed to Walt Disney’s own philosophies for their justification, with reader Shawn summing up that thought process with “Walt Disney said, ‘Disneyland will never be completed. It will continue to grow as long as there is imagination left in the world.’ This quote inspired the idea for a collection about the constant change and evolution of Disney Parks. Disney Parks are always changing and evolving. Disney also said, “Around here, however, we don’t look backwards for very long. We keep moving forward, opening up new doors and doing new things.” ©D23 Others sidestepped Walt entirely, instead focusing on the fact that they felt the Swiss Family Robinson theme held no relevance for younger visitors, and instead called for it to be replaced by something more modern, such as Encanto. As reader Bryan put it, “YES. Young people have no interest in it at all. And people old enough to have nostalgia for it won’t use all those stairs.” There was also a third group of readers, a bit under 5%, who didn’t answer either way decisively, instead saying that their opinion would depend on what the potential retheme or replacement for the ride was. As one reader put it, “Care would need to be taken to choose the right thing to replace and not doing it just for the sake of change or the latest hype sensation.” Swiss Family Treehouse The majority of readers did NOT want to see the Swiss Family Treehouse disappear from the Magic Kingdom like so many other Disney attractions of the past. Stay tuned to DFB as we further examine how Disney’s theme parks will march into the future. 5 Magic Kingdom Secrets Disney Doesn’t Want You to Know Join the DFB Newsletter to get all the breaking news right in your inbox! 19. This year, Disney Consumer Products took center stage at Toy Fair® New York with one of its strongest showings in years — claiming two Toy of the Year Awards and kicking off its biggest Blockbuster Season in recent years. The momentum didn’t stop there: the excitement catapulted onto the national stage with a standout feature on Good Morning America, amplifying visibility and fueling even greater buzz. Together, these moments are paving the way for the next wave of story-powered products, retail trends, and fan experiences. TOTY Triumphs Over the weekend, the industry celebrated the announcement of this year’s Toy of the Year (TOTY) Award winners — recognizing the toys and games that stood out for innovation, creativity, and meaningful play. The winning products reflect many of the key trends that shaped this year’s show floor, from immersive storytelling and strong entertainment tie‑ins to new approaches in design, interactivity, and collectability. Disney Consumer Products Winners include: American Girl Disney Moana Collection (Mattel) — Doll of the Year Disney Stitch Ultimate Stitch Interactive Feature Plush (Just Play) — Plush Toy of the Year American Girl Disney Moana Collection Disney Stitch Ultimate Stitch Interactive Feature Plush “This year’s TOTY winners and new product debuts show how innovation across IP is fueling Blockbuster Season and keeping play fresh, relevant, and exciting,” said Rob Michaelis, Toy Association Board Member and VP, Americas Hardlines, Disney, “By continually reimagining beloved franchises and introducing new ways to engage fans, Disney Consumer Products is meeting families where they are and inspiring the next generation of play.” “Having both the American Girl Disney Moana Collection by Mattel and the Ultimate Stitch Interactive Feature Plush by Just Play honored at the TOTY Awards is a testament to the enduring strength of Disney storytelling,” said JoAnn McLaughlin, SVP of Licensed Product Design & Development, Disney, “These awards highlight how thoughtful character‑driven design can deepen emotional connection and create products that feel truly special for fans and families alike.” As one of the industry’s most anticipated honors, the Toy of the Year Awards continue to spotlight how Disney brings together powerful IP, thoughtful design, and innovative play patterns to create products that resonate with kids, collectors, and fans alike. Blockbuster Season in Full Swing This year, Toy Fair® New York helped launch Disney Consumer Products’ Blockbuster Season, during which new products will debut in support of upcoming theatrical releases and franchise moments across Disney Princess, Pixar, Star Wars, and Marvel. The summer theatrical slate — led by The Walt Disney Company titles such as Lucasfilm’s Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu, Pixar’s Toy Story 5, and Disney’s live-action reimagining of Moana, alongside Sony Pictures Entertainment’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day in association with Marvel Studios — is poised to shape not only the global box office, but also retail trends and fan engagement throughout the year. “What makes our Blockbuster Season campaign so powerful is the scale and cohesion of our approach,” said Paul Gitter, EVP of Brand Commercialization, Disney Consumer Products, “Across more than 180 countries and over 100 product categories, Disney Consumer Products is working with top global partners to translate some of the world’s most beloved stories from Disney Princess, Marvel, Pixar and Star Wars into lifestyle brands that shape retail trends, influence culture and create year-round relevance for fans.” Big Moments, Bigger Magic: Disney on the Show Floor Several new products tied to Blockbuster Season were debuted at Toy Fair® New York throughout the weekend, spanning franchises, age groups, and play patterns. This year’s Toy Fair® reflected a clear strategic throughline which Disney has honed since the days of Walt himself: toys continue to be shaped by storytelling, emotional connection, and innovation across beloved IP — displaying Disney’s ability to meet fans wherever they are. Highlights included: Star Wars Star Wars Action Buddy Grogu (Hasbro) Designed for both play and comfort, this interactive Grogu features more than 50 sound and action combinations that let fans connect with the character in an expressive way. Star Wars: The Mandalorian & Grogu Bounty Blaster (Hasbro) This action‑packed figure brings Star Wars storytelling to life with poseable play, interactive features, and immersive sound effects inspired by the galaxy’s most iconic bounty hunter. 20. The day has finally come! The Grand Floridian Resort‘s tea room reservations are open now! Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort The Garden View Tea Room closed with Walt Disney World during the COVID-19 pandemic, and we’ve been patiently awaiting its reopening for the past five years. Here’s everything you need to know about the Grand Floridian’s newly renovated tea room! The Garden View Tea Room opens on March 19th. The tea room experience is $79 per adult and $49 per child aged 3-9 plus tax and gratuity. There’s so much great food and drinks that we’re excited to try! We can’t wait for its reopening! As of 9 AM ET on February 19th, reservations are completely booked solid as far as the calendar goes out. Yes, that’s right, as of now, reservations are SOLD OUT. But, not all hope is lost! We’re pretty sure that Disney is doing a slow rollout of reservations here, like they did with GEO-82 at EPCOT when it first opened. We were up at 6 AM (when dining reservations typically open), but it seemed like Disney was slow to get things going, because we weren’t actually able to make a reservation until around 6:40 AM. If you didn’t snag a reservation yet, keep trying! People will likely cancel or reschedule theirs, giving you more of an opportunity to find one. A look at the updated lounge They’ll now serve eight tea options: Orangery of Lady Grey – Light and fragrant black tea with bright citrus notes of orange and bergamot. A refreshing twist on classic Earl Grey, inspired by sunlit English orangeries London Strand Breakfast – Bold and malty Assam black teas with golden-tipped leaves for richness and a full-bodied finish Nutty Chocolate Flavoured Assam – Rich Assam black tea meets the flavours of smooth chocolate and roasted hazelnuts. A blend inspired by the timeless pairing of tea and chocolate. Spicy Chai – A blend of African black tea and Rooibos with a blend of fragrant spices for a rich and delicious Chai. Exotic Mango & Ginger – A rich, fragrant blend of glorious mango and ginger layered over a base of green tea. Lemongrass & Peppermint – Refreshing lemongrass blended with sweet peppermint, creating an upliftingly smooth herbal citrus infusion. Redbush Caramel Velvet – A vibrant copper-red herbal infusion made from South African redbush leaves. Flavoured with caramel and safflowers for a smooth, comforting cup. Blackcurrant & Lavender – Rich and fragrant, this herbal blend delivers the essence of autumn-fiery golden leaves, vibrant holly berries, and fields of amber harvests. 21. March in Disney World is shaping up to look a little different than usual. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster If you’ve got a spring trip on the books, there are a few big ride closures you’ll want on your radar. Two major attractions at Magic Kingdom are still in the middle of lengthy refurbishment projects, and one iconic Hollywood Studios coaster is officially taking its final bow. Before you finalize those park plans, here’s what you need to know. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad Let’s start in Frontierland. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is still down for a massive overhaul and will remain closed through March 2026, with reopening planned for later in the spring. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad This isn’t your typical short refurb where crews freshen up some paint and call it a day. The coaster originally closed back in January 2025, and Disney has confirmed it’s getting substantial track work along with some added magic when it returns in 2026. Frontierland is in the middle of a major transformation, including construction tied to the upcoming Cars-inspired expansion and changes around the Rivers of America. Disney has also shared that updates in this area will help create smoother transitions between Frontierland, Liberty Square, and the future Villains-themed land. Work continues on Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. All of that means that if Big Thunder is a must-ride for your crew, you’ll need to adjust expectations. Frontierland may feel like a construction zone in certain spots, and one of Magic Kingdom’s most beloved coasters won’t be available. The upside is that projects on this scale usually mean a pretty impressive payoff once the ride reopens. Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin Tomorrowland is also missing a fan favorite. Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin remains closed through March 2026 as it undergoes a significant upgrade. The attraction shut down in August 2025, and Disney has shared a surprising amount of detail about what’s coming next. When it returns, it won’t just feel refreshed. It’s getting a serious tech boost. It’s closed! There’s a brand new character named Buddy joining the mission. This friendly robot, created by Walt Disney Imagineering in collaboration with Pixar Animation Studios, will appear in a new opening scene to help Space Rangers gear up for their adventure. Expect system checks, encouragement, and a little target practice before blasting off. ©Disney The ride vehicles are also being redesigned with new colors inspired by Star Command, plus onboard screens that display real-time scores. Each cruiser will now feature handheld blasters instead of the mounted ones, which should make aiming a lot easier, especially for younger riders. The blasters include constant laser beams, sound effects, and vibration feedback, so you’ll actually know when you’ve hit something. @wdwmagic on YouTube And speaking of targets, the old stationary Z targets are being swapped out for interactive ones that light up and react when struck. Imagineers have already tested the new gameplay elements, which is usually a solid sign that progress is moving along. Still, if you’re visiting in March, you’ll have to wait to see it all in action. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith Now for the big goodbye. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith at Disney’s Hollywood Studios officially closes on March 2nd, 2026. That means March 1st is your final chance to ride the Aerosmith version. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith The good news is that the coaster itself isn’t going anywhere. It’s getting a brand new theme, and the Muppets are taking over. ©Disney The reimagined Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster will open in summer 2026 with a Muppets storyline centered around the Electric Mayhem band. Guests will score VIP passes to the band’s biggest concert ever, only to find them mid-jam session in the recording studio. Scooter needs your help getting everyone to the venue on time, so you’ll hop into a supercharged limo and rock out to some seriously groovy tracks along the way. ©Disney Disney has teased a first-of-its-kind Muppet animatronic and updated set pieces, including a colorful makeover for the iconic guitar outside the building. G Force Records will also get a new look as part of the transformation. ©Disney If you’re a fan of the current Aerosmith version, this is your last call. If you’re excited about the Muppets, the countdown to summer 2026 is officially on. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster area entrance on Sunset Boulevard We’ll be watching for official reopening dates and additional details as Disney releases them. Stay tuned to DFB for all the latest updates! 24. I’ve been going to the Disney World theme parks for the majority of my life (over 16 years). For the last 3 years, I have packed the same way for my trips because I have narrowed my Disney packing list down to perfection. Easy does it! That’s why I was seriously hesitant to add 3 new items to the list, because I didn’t want to mess with perfection. I was hardcore side-eyeing these necessities until I used them. Now, I’ll never go back! DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. It takes a lot for me to change my Disney World packing list; it feels like I can’t make it any better! I don’t pack anything that weighs me down, and I have all of my necessities at the ready. But it is true that I can improve upon perfection, so I tried three new items for Disney World. Disney Baby Side Sling Stroller Cargo Net ©Amazon When the team first saw this stroller net, we really weren’t sure how much anyone would use it. It attaches easily to the side of a stroller and has a Mickey or Minnie silhouette on the side. (You can choose which character you get). It was thin and not too big, so it wasn’t a hassle to add into our luggage. That being said, this was a huge surprise in the parks! It was so nice to keep frequently used items in it so we could grab things easily while we were on the go. Shop on Amazon Silicone Waterproof Shoe Covers Silicone Waterproof Shoe Covers The next thing I seriously rolled my eyes at were these waterproof shoe covers! It rains frequently in Disney World, and I have experienced more waterlogged tennis shoes than I care to admit. That being said, I seriously didn’t think these shoe covers would really help. Well, I was WRONG! These slip on easily and zip up to help keep our expensive shoes clean and almost entirely dry. They worked so well, and they let me keep going from ride to ride despite the storms. Shop on Amazon GRIFITI Popcorn Band GRIFITI Band Finally, this popcorn bucket band felt a little…needless. In my experience, the lid stays on most of the time, even if it does pop off occasionally. I just didn’t think I really needed it. That was until I realized how well it worked! This band wraps tightly around the popcorn bucket, so there’s no question if your lid is staying on. It’s allowed me to toss my popcorn bucket around and into ride vehicles without worrying I’m going to be the person who creates a huge spill. It’s an inexpensive way to give myself peace of mind! Shop on Amazon This is my formal apology for the three items on this list. I am sorry for the side eyes. As always, be sure to keep following DFB for more Disney finds online! View the full article
