The fireworks at Magic Kingdom are truly a magical experience, and if you thought “it just can’t get better than this“, we’re here to tell you, it can. Happily Ever After If you tear up during Happily Ever After while standing on Main Street, U.S.A, you’re not alone. I’ve been going to Disney World for decades, and for me, watching the fireworks is truly something special that I look forward to with every trip. That’s why, when I started adding this one thing to my Disney trips, I don’t regret it. Happily Ever After is Magic Kingdom’s current fireworks show, and it lights up the park each night (depending on the weather) and finishes off with Tinker Bell flying over the park! Happily Ever After fireworks in Magic Kingdom There is nothing like this show, the feelings it brings, and the music that will be stuck in your head for days after your Disney trip. It’s a must on our Magic Kingdom to-do list, but did you know you can make this Disney tradition even better? Disney World hosts Fireworks Dessert Parties each night during Happily Ever After, and it can make your perfect day even better. Tomorrowland Terrace firework dessert party! There are three versions of the party to experience: before, during, and after the fireworks! These parties offer guests a chance to watch the fireworks with special seating while enjoying snacks and special beverages. The Magic Kingdom Fireworks Pre-Party Dessert Party begins at Tomorrowland Terrace, where you can snack on cheeses, sweets, and a selection of beers and wines for those who are 21 or older. Cheese and crackers During the fireworks, guests are escorted to a special standing area in the Magic Kingdom Plaza Garden to watch the show! The Magic Kingdom Fireworks Seats & Sweets Party takes place during the fireworks show, where guests get the same food offerings, and then they remain at Tomorrowland Terrace to watch the nighttime show. Bar Options Finally, the Magic Kingdom Fireworks Post-Party starts at the special standing area in the Magic Kingdom plaza garden before going to Tomorrowland Terrace after the fireworks have concluded to enjoy the bites and drinks. These parties are held on select nights, and availability can vary by party version. Cheese, crackers, and fruit The price will vary by night, but you can expect $99 to $109 per adult and $59 per child for the Pre-Party and the Post-Party experiences. For the Seats and Sweet party, you can expect to pay from $119 to $129 per adult and $74 per child. It’s important to remember that Disney considers ages 10 and up as adults. Check-In Time If you’re attending the Pre-Party Dessert Party, you should report to Tomorrowland Terrace Restaurant 90 minutes before the evening’s designated Fireworks time. If you’re trying the Seats & Sweets Party or Post-Party, you should report to Tomorrowland Terrace Restaurant 60 minutes before the evening’s designated Fireworks time. Cheers to fireworks! It’s also important to remember this doesn’t include your park ticket, so this will be purchased in addition to your admission. You also should remember to check the nighttime show times on the day of your experience, just to make sure you know the correct time! Happily Ever After changes times throughout the year, and although a day of change is unlikely, it doesn’t hurt to check. If you are heading to a holiday party, like Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party or Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, there are special dessert parties for those as well that are an extra price on top of the party ticket! Tomorrowland Terrace Fireworks Dessert Party This is the ultimate way to upgrade your Disney World fireworks experience if you’re looking for something to make a special occasion even better or looking to do something you’ve never done in the parks! If you’re hoping to save some money, these parties aren’t a necessity to watch the fireworks, so they aren’t a must-do, especially if it’s your first time in the parks. Halloween Fireworks Dessert Party for Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular These parties are really just a great upgrade to an already great experience. Don’t forget to keep following DisneyFoodBlog for all of your Disney planning tips and tricks! Learn even more about the special Magic Kingdom Fireworks Parties here! WINTER HAVEN – Legoland Florida’s new roller coaster swirls riders into an outer-space situation, one that may create mild out-of-body sensations. Galacticoaster debuts to the public Friday. There’s a spinning factor in the new attraction. Each eight-passenger vehicle – two rows of four people each – rotates whilst moving forward and up and down along the rail for the indoor coaster. There are swooping close encounters with heavenly bodies, Lego blocks in antigravity mode and swarms of Separators, a sort of astro-anthropomorphic version of the tool that pries apart Lego bricks in real life. Before boarding, passengers customize their rides, selecting creative options for the spacecraft’s wings, nose and tail (dragons, balloons and hamburgers are among the styles). After a group is on the ride, they see images of themselves sitting inside their specialty craft. Soon, the cars shift 90 degrees and quickly begin the journey, a Lego Galaxy-saving quest. That first launch into darkness goes about 40 mph and surprises some people even though the word LAUNCH looms over the portal. (Reading is fundamental, y’all.) A moving sidewalk will help with the loading and unloading of Galacticoaster, the new indoor roller coaster at Legoland Florida. It debuts Friday. (Ricardo Ramirez Buxeda/Orlando Sentinel) Central Florida certainly has space-themed coasters in the lineup, starting with Magic Kingdom’s Space Mountain, the state’s oldest running roller coaster, and continuing with Epcot’s Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind and Epic Universe’s Stardust Racers. Galacticoaster may remind folks of a less intense version of Cosmic Rewind with some on-track movements a la Harry Potter and the Escape From Gringotts at Universal Studios. But this is geared to the Legoland demographic, squarely in the 2- to 12-year-old visitors. My inner child freaked out a bit due to the speed and mystery of it all, but the 90-second ride time is child-friendly. It doesn’t go upside down, but the ride’s intensity is a step above that of the Dragon, its sister coaster. Riders would might like more oomph aboard Galacticoaster, should finagle seats on the back row, which experiences a touch more whip action. Passengers have a lap bar that lowers from overhead but doesn’t constrain the shoulders. Grown-ups may appreciate the ample amount of knee room for the ride. It’s pretty simple to get into the ride vehicles, and the moving sidewalk traveling alongside them should create continuous load status with a goal of 1,000 riders per hour. The new attraction is kind of big – 30,000-square-foot show building – and a big deal, too. Merlin Entertainments Group, the park’s owner, is spending $90 million to open Galacticoaster in Florida and, soon, at Legoland California. “This is our largest single investment ever in Legoland’s history. So that how that plays out is you’ll see more theming all around us,” Blake Boyter, senior project manager, said this week. “You can see the density of the theming is much higher than other places in our park. … We’ve got no other ride system like this, with the speed, the ability to rotate, all of those different aspects are unique to this ride,” he said. “And then on top of all that, most people expect more media, more music, more videos, and that’s what we’ve incorporated into this.” Chief Engineer Biff Dipper will instruct future Galacticoaster riders about procedures. (Ricardo Ramirez Buxeda/Orlando Sentinel) One room of the Galacticoaster queue features an animatronic named Biff Dipper, who gives ride instructions alongside screens with other Lego characters and space imagery on a ceiling screen. “He moves, and he’s got a face that’s more animated than ever before,” Boyter said. “He bends down and looks at the kids. I mean, he’s a minifig come to life.” (Biff is 3.5 feet tall and the size of 10,000 minifigs combined, Boyter said.) The exterior is a salute to multiple Lego Space sets, including the Lego 885 set, the first model introduced by the company in 1979. The main entrance is fronted by an enormous version of Lego 918, a space transport. Push a nearby button and hear a spiel. There’s also a Duplo play area and an array of figures, including an alien family. There are about 583,000 bricks used out there. A covered Duplo play area is available outside the new Galacticoaster at Legoland Florida. (Ricardo Ramirez Buxeda/ Orlando Sentinel) The Lego brand has a lot of space-oriented product lines from which to choose. “We actually threw a little bit of it all in here,” Boyter said. “Instead of making hard decisions, just grab a little bit from the M:Tron, the Blacktron, the Space Police. … It incorporates everything.” Email me at dbevil@orlandosentinel.com. Host Hotels & Resorts has sold the Four Seasons Resort Orlando at Walt Disney World Resort and the Four Seasons Resort and Residences Jackson Hole in Teton Village, Wyoming, to a foreign buyer for $1.1 billion. Orlando Owner LLC is named as the buyer, according to deeds filed Monday in Orange County. The company, listed in state records as the entity of an unnamed foreign investor, is managed by Coburn Packard and Ken Gerold of BDT&MSD Partners, an investment bank established with the participation of Dell Computers founder Michael Dell. The firm has offices in the U.S., Europe and Dubai. The Four Seasons, which opened in 2014, is one of only three hotels in the Orlando market to earn the coveted 5-Diamond status. The 443-room luxury resort sits on 289 acres at and around 10100 Dream Tree Blvd. and provides complimentary transport to four Disney theme parks and Disney Springs. In addition to its 18-hole golf course and golf club, the resort features five pools, three tennis courts, a 13,000-square-foot spa, a Michelin-starred Spanish steakhouse called Capa and a 5-acre water park and entertainment area called Explorer Island. Host Hotels & Resorts is one of the largest owners of luxury and upper-upscale hotels in the U.S. The Bethesda-based REIT purchased the Orlando resort hotel in 2021 for $610 million cash, which at the time set a per-room record for Orlando-area hotel sales at about $1.37 million per key. The 125-room Wyoming Four Seasons was acquired in 2022 for $315 million, or more than $2 million per key. The sale of the two properties will bring HHR an estimated 11% rate of return, according to the announcement. The Four Seasons Resort at Walt Disney World is one of three Orlando hotels to achieve AAA’s coveted 5-Diamond status. (Rich Pope, Orlando Sentinel) “The sale of these two iconic properties represents another important step in advancing our capital allocation strategy,” CEO James F. Risoleo said. “We are pleased with our ability to monetize two recently acquired hotels at an attractive profit and an accretive multiple, and we will continue to use our competitive advantages to create value for our shareholders.” Paul Sexton, vice president of HREC Investment Advisory, who was not involved in the deal, said the Four Seasons deal is a bit of an outlier and not reflective of the Orlando market as a whole. “It’s pretty interesting that they got that kind of return, given that most of the hotels in Orlando, other than luxury hotels, have only been maintaining their value,” Sexton said. The recorded purchase price for the Orlando resort was $438 million, which almost mirrors the assessed value from the Orange County Property Appraiser. But that likely doesn’t include the full value of the deal, which would also have included additional payments for FFE (furniture, fixtures, and equipment) that are not included in the public record. JP Morgan Chase issued a $510 million loan for the Orlando acquisition. If the loan covered 60% of the purchase price, it would put the true value of the sale closer to $850 million. The sale excludes the ongoing condo development within the Four Seasons Private Residences in Disney’s Golden Oak community. Host Hotels and Resorts paid $30 million for the land adjacent to the hotel in 2021 and partnered with Disney to expand the luxury condo community, which has already closed over $166 million in sales across 20 units since the completion of the condo tower last November. Academy Award-winning actor to christen new Disney Cruise Line ship in Singapore Today, Disney announced Academy Award-winning actor Robert Downey Jr. will be the godparent for the Disney Adventure, the newest and largest ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet. Disney shared the news ahead of the vessel’s maiden voyage next month out of its home port in Singapore. “Our new ship continues Disney Cruise Line’s tradition of bringing great stories to life at sea, and we are honored that Robert Downey Jr., who has guided audiences through unforgettable Marvel stories, is the official godparent for the Disney Adventure,” said Josh D’Amaro, Chairman, Disney Experiences and incoming Chief Executive Officer of The Walt Disney Company. Downey’s portrayal of Tony Stark/Iron Man was the cornerstone of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the highest-grossing film franchise of all time. His unparalleled decade-plus cinematic journey as the iconic character culminated in Avengers: Endgame, which amassed more than $2.79 billion at the global box office. Downey was named an official Disney Legend in 2019 and will now star as Doctor Doom in Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Doomsday, in theaters Dec. 18. “It’s impossible to describe the majesty of the Adventure, and to be its godparent is an honor. As the largest ship in the Disney fleet, a gargantuan blessing must be bestowed … I’ll do my darndest,” Downey said. Academy Award-winning actor Robert Downey Jr. will be the godparent for the Disney Adventure, the newest and largest ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet The Disney Adventure brings more than 100 years of Disney storytelling to life across seven themed areas, including several Marvel experiences. At Marvel Landing on the top decks, guests can have the ultimate Super Hero adventure on Tony Stark’s Ironcycle Test Run, the first roller coaster on a Disney Cruise Line ship and the longest of its kind at sea. In the open-air Disney Imagination Garden area, the “Avengers Assemble!” live stage production will feature jaw-dropping stunts and special effects during an action-packed battle of Marvel Super Heroes and Villains. And inside Disney’s Oceaneer Club, the Marvel WEB Workshop invites young recruits to try out new Super Hero suit prototypes and conduct training simulations using top-secret Avengers technology. The new ship offers signature Disney entertainment and hospitality: character encounters; Broadway-style shows; themed stateroom and concierge accommodations; and more than 20 dining and lounge venues featuring world-class international and Asian-inspired cuisines and beverages. Your park bag is packed, you know your transportation route, and now you’re ready to rope drop your Disney World park for the day. But before you get there, you should know that certain hotels make it easier to do so. Magic Kingdom rope drop crowds Rope dropping is when you show up before the park even opens and are some of the first to get on attractions. Why do guests do this? Because it’s a great shot at some of the lowest wait times of the entire day and a serious head start over the late sleepers. Doing it at Disney World means waking up EARLY, and once you factor in transportation, it’s probably earlier than you planned. Plus, Disney hotel guests get Early Theme Park Entry, so everyone else is already trying to beat the clock, too. After rope dropping from tons of hotels over the years, we’ve learned one thing: if you want to maximize your morning, skip these hotels and choose smarter swaps to save you time. Disney World is HUGE, and with that in mind, we can’t just give you a set list of hotels that are good and bad for rope drop in general. Each hotel is closer to a specific park and further from another. Therefore, we’re letting you know two hotels you should skip and two hotels you should opt for instead for each of the four theme parks. So let’s get to it! Photo If You’re Rope Dropping at Magic Kingdom… If you’re planning on starting your morning off at Magic Kingdom, there are some logistics that you’ll have to navigate to rope drop here that you don’t have to at other parks. If you’re heading here via car or ride share, you’ll head to the Transportation and Ticket Center first. If you are arriving by Disney bus, boat, or monorail, you can head straight to Magic Kingdom. Rope Drop crowds! AVOID Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort and Disney’s Old Key West Resort This is not a negative comment on Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa or Disney’s Old Key West Resort. However, these resorts are pretty close to Disney Springs, which means they’re not that close to Magic Kingdom. You will need to either take a Disney bus to Magic Kingdom or drive a vehicle to the Transportation and Ticket Center if you’re staying at one of these resorts. Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort Stay at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Resort or a Monorail Resort The monorail resorts, Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, and Disney’s Grand Floridian & Spa Resort, are each connected directly to Magic Kingdom by the monorail system. They also offer a walking path directly to the park, which can be a very reliable way to get there if you don’t mind the extra steps. At Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Resort, Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, and Disney’s Grand Floridian & Spa Resort, there are boats that can take you directly to the Magic Kingdom from these resorts. Disney’s Wilderness Lodge If You are Rope Dropping at EPCOT… EPCOT is located along the Skyliner AND monorail routes, creating some complexities as to which hotels you should stay at versus those you should avoid if rope-dropping EPCOT is something you take very seriously. There are also some big headlining attractions at this park, and depending on where you enter from, yes, EPCOT has two entrances, you could either really help your chances of getting a head start, or really hurt them. Rope Drop Crowds at EPCOT AVOID Wilderness Lodge and Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge While Wilderness Lodge is a Magic Kingdom resort, it is NOT connected to the Monorail. Instead, you’ll take a Disney bus if you’re using Disney transportation to head to EPCOT. Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge is another one to avoid because it is quite far from EPCOT. There’s nothing inherently wrong with these resorts, but there are better options for starting your day at EPCOT. Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge Stay at a Skyliner Resort or a Boardwalk Area Resort Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts, as well as Disney’s Boardwalk Inn Resort, are PRIME EPCOT locations. The International Gateway Entrance at EPCOT is located just a short stroll away from these hotels, and you won’t need much transportation (or any at all) to rope drop, and these give you great access to rope dropping Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure. The same logic goes for staying at a resort attached to the Skyliner, Disney’s Riviera Resort, Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, Disney’s Art of Animation, and Disney’s Pop Century Resort. The Riviera and Caribbean Beach will not make you transfer to a different route if you are heading to EPCOT. These have direct access to the park. These will bring you right outside of the International Gateway, and you’ll be ready to start your morning off smoothly. Skyliner at Disney’s Riviera Resort If You’re Rope Dropping at Disney’s Hollywood Studios… Finally, Disney’s Hollywood Studios sits along the Skyliner route and is an incredibly popular park to rope drop thanks to its thrilling attractions. We find that you can knock out a few attractions here early in the morning with minimal wait times. Rope Drop in Hollywood Studios AVOID Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge and Monorail Resorts Again, Animal Kingdom Lodge is pretty far from this park. If you are staying at that resort, you’ll have to take a Disney bus here. The same thing is true with monorail resorts, as you’ll head for the buses to start your morning at Hollywood Studios. Disney’s Contemporary Resort Stay at Disney’s Swan and Dolphin Resorts or Skyliner Resorts Disney’s Swan and Dolphin Hotels are super close to Hollywood Studios and are actually within walking distance (with the Swan being closest). You’ll also get a scenic view along the way. There is also boat transportation that will take you to Hollywood Studios as well. The Skyliner resorts are also great for getting to Hollywood Studios. You’ll head to Caribbean Beach’s station and transfer to the Hollywood Studios line. Disney World’s Dolphin Resort If You’re Rope Dropping at Disney’s Animal Kingdom… Disney’s Animal Kingdom isn’t along the monorail or Skyliner routes, making it one of the trickiest Disney Parks to rope drop using Disney World transportation, but it does give the most equal chance for all Disney resort guests. The park typically opens the earliest, and many guests love to start their days here to get things done before other parks even open. Rope Drop Crowds at Animal Kingdom AVOID Old Key West and Monorail Resorts Disney’s Old Key West Resort is sandwiched between EPCOT and Disney Springs, while it’s not as far away as the Magic Kingdom resorts, it’s also not along any convenient transportation route. The monorail resorts are also some of the furthest hotels from Animal Kingdom in all of Disney World, making them ones to avoid if you’re planning on starting your days at Animal Kingdom. Old Key West Stay at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge or All-Star Resorts We’ve talked about Animal Kingdom Lodge as a place not to stay, but if your priority is Animal Kingdom or just animals in general, THIS IS THE PLACE FOR YOU. Animal Kingdom Lodge is literally the closest you can get to Animal Kingdom via a very short bus ride. Disney’s All-Star Sports, Music, and Movies Resorts aren’t ideal for rope-dropping ANY of the Disney Parks; they are a bit closer to Animal Kingdom than most other resorts. The All-Star Resorts lack many of the amenities of other Disney hotels, BUT if you’re the type of person who wakes up early, gets up late, and spends the WHOLE day at the park, they may be the ideal resort for you All-Star Music Resort Disney World has a lot of hotel options, and each one has its pros and cons based on location. When in doubt, check the Disney World map for proximity and transportation options. When it comes to dining at Walt Disney World hotels, there are a litany of options scattred across property, especially at the Swan and Dolphin Resorts! Steak at Bourbon Steak The iconic Michael Graves-designed resorts (which are located near EPCOT on Disney property, but now owned by Disney) are home to over 20 restaurants and lounges that offer “something for everyone, from the most passionate foodie, to those seeking a quick, yet satisfying meal.” These are some of our favorites. Il Mulino Il Mulino offers authentic cuisine from the Abruzzi region of Italy in a “sophisticated, modern setting” featuring exposed beam ceilings lend rustic charm, while dark wood tones, colored-glass windows and a sleek bar area. Il Mulino The restaurant offers a wide-ranging variety of traditional Italian dishes, including Antipasti options like Arancini Di Carne (Italian Rice Balls stuffed with bolognese), Calamari Fritti (cried calamari), and Polpette Al Forno (meatballs with tomato sauce and cheese), pizzas, pastas, beef, chicken, veal, and fish dishes, and even large family style offerings with a per person charge. Eggplant Il Mulino also offers specialty cocktails, beers, traditional Italian desserts, and most notably a selection of red and white wines selected by the hotel’s Sommeliers. Primobacio, Moscato D’ Asti Amare Amare offers a large selection of Mediterranean favorites, including Appetizers (including Chickpea Socca, Lamb Kofta, Falafel), salads, hummus offerings, and entrees, including Sea bass Al Cartoccio, Braised Lamb Cappelletti, Romesco Chicken, and Grilled Souvlaki. Grilled Souvlaki with Angus Beef Skewers The Fountain Located at the Walt Disney World Dolphin hotel, The Fountain captures the vibes of a classic American diner, complete with vinyl stools, glittering tables, a long countertop, and even a neon sign. There are various classic seating configurations in the restaurant, including tables, the aforementioned countertop, and classic booths. The restaurant’s menu features a full rundown of classic diner favorites with appetizers including Pretzel & Cheese Dip and Queso Tots, and the diner classic Disco Fries (AKA fries smothered in a “classic combination” of diner-style gravy and homemade cheese sauce). Pretzel with Cheese Dip The menu also offers an array of salads, and entrees including the classic Reuben Sandwich, a foot log hot dog, a fried chicken sandwich, a flounder sandwich, and grilled cheese served with tomato soup, the diner’s star attraction: The Fountain Smash Burger. AMAZING You can finish your meal with a selection from a wide range of milkshakes, including Blueberry Cheesecake, Key Lime Pie, and Banana Pudding. Banana Pudding Milkshake Rosa Mexicano The original Rosa Mexicano was founded by chef Josefina Howard in mid-1980s New York, and the restaurant’s commitment to authentic Mexican cuisine — “served in a stylish setting with festive flair” — lives on in their Disney World location. Rosa Mexicano There’s a breakfast menu that features made-to-order omelets, scrambled eggs with fresh salsa, bacon, and chorizo, churro waffles, breakfast burritos, and huevos rancheros, as well as lunch and dinner options including fajitas, taquitos, quesadillas, nachos, enchiladas, and tacos. The menu also offers Parrilladas — “Rosa’s Own Mexican-Style Mixed Grill, Served on a Sizzling Platter of Red Chile Chicken, Grilled Chorizo Sausage, 10oz NY Strip, accompanied with Freshly Made Corn Tortillas, Roasted Onions, Frijoles Borrachos, Cheese-Stuffed Jalapeño, Charred Tomato Salsa, Pico de Gallo, Guacamole” — in servings for parties of 2 or 4. Fresh Ahi Tuna Tacos served with beans and rice Rosa Mexicano diners can wash that meal down with a robust drink menu, including well-regarded margaritas (including the signature frozen pomegranate margarita), craft cocktails, wine, beer, and spirit-free options. Bar Seating Kimonos Kimonos features a menu chock-full of fresh seafood, including award-winning sushi offerings. Dragon Roll at Kimonos Set in an “elegant, inviting space decorated with dark teak wood and a gorgeous collection of colorful kimonos”, the restaurant’s menu features a large selection of signature rolls, including the Dragon Roll, the Spicy Jalapeño Roll, the Spicy Rainbow Roll, and — of course — the Kimonos Roll. Kimonos also offers soups and salads, as well as starters like Seared Tuna, Gyoza, Gulf Shrimp Tempura, and Grilled Kalbi Beef Short Ribs. The restaurant’s drink menu also offers “hot and chilled sake, plum wine, beer, and fruity specialty cocktails.” Raspberry Sake Sangria Todd English’s bluezoo bluezoo offers a menu loaded with “succulent raw or cooked seafood—plus tender chicken and beef dishes—at this underwater-themed restaurant.” Todd’s English bluezoo The restaurant offers starters, salads, and soups, before giving way to a large entree selection, including angus beef, steak, chicken, fish, ahi tuna, cappelletti, as well as “todd’s favorites” crab fried rice and asian fried spare ribs. ©Disney Bourbon Steak Finally, there’s Bourbon Steak, one of the newest eateries at the Swan and Dolphin, which replaced Shula’s last year. The latest in a chain from chef Michael Mina, Bourbon Steak is a modern take on the quintessential American steakhouse with premium cuts of beef and seafood infused with global flavor, which aims to showcase the three primary elements of Mina’s culinary philosophy: product, technique, and presentation. Maine Lobster Pot Pie The menu includes a large selection of steaks – naturally – including the Hay-Smoked Tomahawk, Filet Mignon, Delmonico Ribeye, and New York Strip. Other offerings include Maine Lobster Pot Pie, Espelette Butter Roasted Chicken, Red Alaskan King Crab, and Red Wine Braised Wagyu Short Rib. Blueberry Martini BONUS: Phins Lounge While this spot isn’t a full-fledged restaurant, we had to mention the Dolphin’s lobby bar. This contemporary lounge offers custom-crafted cocktails, vintage wines, and beers, including the Phins and Feathers beer. Phins A quick note on each of these Swan & Dolphin eateries: None of these spots participates in any of the Disney Dining Plan options, and does not accept MagicBands, Disney Gift Cards, or any other Disney stored value cards for payment. Also, keep in mind that there’s a fee to park at the Walt Disney World Swan & Dolphin Hotel complex. Big changes are coming to the Walt Disney Company soon, thanks to a new CEO taking over in just a few short weeks. Cinderella Castle Josh D’Amaro will take over the role earlier than planned, on March 18th, 2026, when the company hosts its Annual Shareholder Meeting. While this is big news in and of itself, we’re also expecting to learn more about the CEO transition, along with other changes coming to the Walt Disney Company as a whole. The Walt Disney Company’s 2026 Annual Shareholders Meeting will take place on March 18th at 10 AM PST. During this meeting, we’ll learn more about the company’s leadership, financials, strategy, and direction. Shareholders will also vote to elect 10 members to Disney’s Board of Directors, as they do every year at this meeting. ©Disney | Walt Disney Company Headquarters Notably, though, Disney is also set to include a vote on a new Disability Access Proposal. Previously, the Walt Disney Company withdrew a request that wanted to exclude a shareholder proposal regarding disability accommodations in the theme parks. Disney’s Disability Access Service (DAS) system has undergone several changes over the last several years. These changes have not been without their controversies, but this new proposal could enact even further changes Rider Switch sign at Space Mountain This request will impact the 2026 proxy statement, according to an SEC filing that was submitted by Disney’s counsel, Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr LLP. The new proposal was submitted by shareholder Erik G. Paul. This proposal calls for an independent review of Disney’s changes to the DAS system that were made over the last few years. Walt Disney Company Headquarters ©LA Times The proposal also calls for the review to focus on board-level oversight that can be related back to risks to any shareholder value connected to these changes. If you’ve never used the DAS system or understood it, Disney describes it as a system “intended to accommodate those Guests who, due to a developmental disability like autism or similar, are unable to wait in a conventional queue for an extended period of time.” This system’s largest change came on May 20th, 2024, in Disney World and June 18th, 2024, in Disneyland. The change was that Disney partnered with Inspire Health Alliance to assist with its DAS approval process, which impacted a large number of DAS users. This switch included many policy changes and new rules, which is where the controversy came from. Disability Access Service Pass in 2021 Shareholders and curious minds can review the Definitive Proxy Statement for the meeting ahead of it taking place here. Recently, Disney has announced new lands, attractions, and entertainment headed to the theme parks, new ships coming to the Disney Cruise Line, and so much more. But, what about those projects that Disney hasn’t exactly announced yet? Magic Kingdom Keeping up with the latest construction permits Disney World files can be a great way to find out just what is going on around the parks and hotels, and we recently spotted some you might want to know about! We’re always on the hunt for the latest construction permits filed by Disney to get an idea of what sort of changes might be coming to the parks, and here’s what we found this time around, starting at the Polynesian hotel! Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort A General Conditions permit was recently filed for work to be done at the Polynesian. This resort has been getting a bit of an upgrade in terms of the main entrance, bus loop, and parking areas, which is slated to continue through 2026. This permit is likely a continuation of that. A new main entrance is being constructed to shift traffic away from 7 Seas Drive. A look at the new entrance at the Polynesian The contractor listed on this permit is Poli Construction, Inc., a general contractor based out of Orlando who has worked on other Disney projects in the past, including Trail’s End Restaurant at Fort Wilderness and Paradiso 37 at Disney Springs. While we don’t know much about this permit, we’re hopeful it won’t extend the construction much longer than already anticipated. New entrance We also found a permit for work to be done to a maintenance building behind Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at Magic Kingdom. The permit isn’t very specific as it only lists General Construction as the scope of work. DPR Construction is listed as the contractor performing the work, which is known for hospitality work and general contracting. The expiration date on this permit is June 26th, 2026, which indicates that whatever work is being done won’t take long. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure! We’ll be on the lookout for additional news about these permits and beyond. In the meantime, we’ll be on the hunt for new updates at Disney World and more — so stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for the latest news! We know, we know, we’re back again talking about ANOTHER Disney World closure, but hey, it’s what’s really happening all around the resort right now, so we’ve got to keep you updated on it all! Prime Rib Sliders at Crew’s Cup Lounge Over at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort, you’ll find one of our favorite lounges — Crew’s Cup Lounge. We’ve known it was coming for weeks now, but today is officially the day. As of today, February 23rd, this lounge is now temporarily closed for refurbishment. Crew’s Cup Lounge is known for its cozy, inviting atmosphere, as well as its delicious bites to eat and solid drinks. The lounge has closed to undergo a refurbishment, though Disney hasn’t exactly mentioned what will be changing. Crew’s Cup Lounge Based on Disney’s website, we do know that Crew’s Cup Lounge is expected to reopen in May 2026, but that’s mostly due to the fact that in May, the restaurant the lounge is connected to, Yachtsman Steakhouse, will close for refurbishment from May through August 2026. This way, both of these dining options aren’t closed at the same time. Yachtsman Signature Bread at Crew’s Cup Lounge It’s important to note as well that the entirety of the hotel is currently undergoing an exterior refurbishment, so guests staying at the resort or exploring it may hear work during the day. Not to worry, though, because all work will be completed each day before nighttime, so guests can get a good night’s sleep. If you’re traveling with someone who enjoys taking naps during the day, though, we suggest bringing along earplugs, a noise machine, or something else to assist in sleeping in case you can hear work during the day! I’ve been a DFB reporter and Annual Passholder, and these are the pants I swear by when I’m doing a rope drop to fireworks kind of day at Disney World. Crowds at Magic Kingdom Pants?! Yes, because not only does it get chilly-ish on some days at Disney World, but I liked wearing pants even during the warmer months at Disney World to keep my legs out of the sun and just give me full coverage and support throughout the day. These pants are also beloved by thousands of other Disney World guests every day. DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. Alright, so yes, spending over $100 on a pair of pants is a lot of money, but I promise, I tried the other cheaper brands, and the ones that I can confidently rely on at Disney are the Lululemon leggings, specifically, I like the Wunder Train version. These are made with fast-drying Everlux fabric, and the Wunder Train collection manages heat and sweat so you stay comfortable and focused. Heads up, Disney World fans, today’s the day that a whole section of Disney’s Animal Kingdom is temporarily closed, as of today. Conservation Station Today, February 23rd, Disney has temporarily closed Rafiki’s Planet Watch as a whole to make way for a new Bluey experience coming for Cool KIDS’ SUMMER. What does that mean for you? Well, a park that’s missing about four of its attractions, and in a park that’s already riddled with construction, that’s not a great addition. If we’re being extra technical, Disney has temporarily closed the Wildlife Express, the train that takes you from the main section of the park to Rafiki’s Planet Watch, and it’s the ONLY way to get over there. Additionally, the Affection Section has been temporarily closed to make way for the new experience, but since the train is out of commission and no one can get there, the whole area is inaccessible. Rafiki’s Planet Watch This also means that the Animation Experience, where you can learn to draw your favorite Disney characters, will also be unavailable, and if you were hoping to step into the Conservation Station to get a look at who may be working in the vet area, you’ll be out of luck for a few months. While there’s no official reopening date, we do know that Cool KIDS’ SUMMER is supposed to start on May 26th, so that’s our current guess for when they’ll become available again. Affection Section at Conservation Station That’s not all, though — it’s expected that this area may have to close AGAIN when the Cool KIDS’ SUMMER event ends on September 8th (though not confirmed by Disney), which will mean that ANOTHER closure will be enacted in a park that’s already severely lacking in attractions due to the construction on the new Tropical Americas land. That land isn’t expected to open until 2027, so we’ll still be missing some entertainment for a while. Tropical Americas construction If you’re heading to Disney World this summer, you won’t want to miss out on all the Cool KIDS’ SUMMER offerings all over the resort! You’ll be able to find Goofy’s Game Machine at GoofyCore over at CommuniCore Hall in EPCOT, experience beloved Toy Story characters take over The Diamond Horseshoe in Magic Kingdom, visit BOTH Disney World water parks throughout the summer (and get complimentary admission on the day of your check-in if you’re staying at a Disney hotel), and so much more! We’ve got BIG news for fans of Disney animation! A brand new area is coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios: get ready to step into The Walt Disney Studios when it opens in the latter part of Summer 2026! ©Disney In July 2025, Disney announced that the area currently known as Animation Courtyard will be reimagined into The Walt Disney Studios as a “special nod to the legendary Walt Disney Studios Lot” in Burbank, California. We’ve been keeping an eye on updates for this new land, and now we have even more details — including a drawing class taught by… Olaf?! Let’s get into it! Disney Animation characters will “leap off the screen and into our world” in this new land. It will retain two of Animation Courtyard’s signature attractions while introducing brand-new experiences inspired by beloved Disney characters, as well as the “Once Upon a Studio” short film! Disney just announced even more details about two new experiences coming to this land. ©Disney “Off the Page!” will allow parkgoers to meet some of their favorite animated friends from Walt Disney Animation Studios stories. You can meet Mulan in the Story department, posing in front of an oversized storyboard panel. Or step into the Layout department where Rapunzel waits in a setting inspired by the classic multiplane camera, where you’ll see layers of backgrounds and painted cells come together like magic. ©Disney These spaces will highlight key stages of the animation process, brought to life through character encounters. Some of the characters you may spot include: Mulan in Story Rapunzel in Layout Chip n’ Dale in Hand-Drawn Animation Donald and Daisy in CG Animation Goofy in Lighting Stitch in Effects Not only that, but drawing classes will be coming to this land in a new Animation Academy experience called Olaf Draws! Yes, these classes will actually be led by Olaf and will teach folks how to draw iconic Disney animated characters — with the help of some legendary Disney Animation artists who will help bring the class to life. ©Disney Olaf will be a brand-new Audio-Animatronics figure as he welcomes people into a new space, inspired by one of his most memorable moments from Once Upon A Studio, sitting at an animator’s desk, joyfully discovering the art of drawing. Josh Gad, the voice of Olaf, returned to record original dialogue for the experience. “I’m so thrilled that a whole new generation of kids can dream of becoming animators one day and can actually begin their journey right there on the studio lot,” Gad shared. You may find yourself sketching: Mickey Mouse, with Dan Abraham, director (Once Upon A Studio, Baymax!) Minnie Mouse, with Hyun Min Lee, animator (Frozen 2, The Princess and the Frog) Donald Duck, with Austin Traylor, animator (Once Upon A Studio, Moana 2) Genie, with Eric Goldberg, animator (Aladdin, Hercules) Moana, with Samantha Vilfort, story artist (Encanto, Zootopia 2) Stitch, with Fawn Veerasunthorn, director and head of story (Wish, Raya and the Last Dragon) Olaf, with Trent Correy, director (Once Upon A Studio, Frozen 3) Ursula, with Michael Woodside, animator (Big Hero 6, Encanto) Judy Hopps & Nick Wilde, with Byron Howard director, (Zootopia, Zootopia 2) ©Disney We can’t wait to check out these new experiences when they open at Hollywood Studios this summer! We’ll be on the lookout for even more details you need to know about. In the meantime, stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for the latest Disney news and more! While Walt Disney World’s theme parks — including EPCOT — are never truly empty, that doesn’t mean that some days aren’t busier than others. EPCOT For example, when it comes to Disney World’s second gate, the best days to avoid (if scheduling allows) are spread throughout the year, timed with holidays, school vacations, and even the park’s own annual events. So, let’s begin with the most obvious: Holidays! While there are some definite highlights to spending certain holidays in EPCOT — like watching The American Adventure on the 4th of July or ringing in the New Year with MASSIVE fireworks — they are definitely not the days to visit if you’re looking to avoid crowds. Look at all the people on New Year’s Eve. 2026’s major holidays include: April 3rd to April 5th: Easter Weekend May 22nd to May 25th: Memorial Day Weekend July 3rd to July 5th: 4th of July Weekend September 4th through September 7th: Labor Day Weekend October 9th to October 12th: Indigenous Peoples Day Weekend November 26th: Thanksgiving December 25th: Christmas December 31st: New Year’s Eve Beyond specific holidays, there’s also the Spring break period, which sees a great deal of American families taking advantage of school closures for a mid-year vacation. While break dates vary by school and state, generally they take place sometime in March or April. EPCOT Spring Break Crowds Finally, there’s EPCOT’s annual festivals. While these events tend to always draw major crowds, they’re likely best avoided on their opening and closing days if you want the full experience. The former are often crowded with guests wanting to sample the eats and treats as soon as possible, not to mention the fact that some elements of the fest may not be available yet. When it comes to the final day of the festival, the issue is fewer crowds (though they are crowded with last-minute guests) and more the fact that by the end of the fest, certain food items or souvenirs may run out, and some experiences may be discontinued early. The line for the Italy Booth EPCOT’s remaining, opening, and closing festival dates include: Flower & Garden Opening Day (March 4th) Flower & Garden Closing Day (June 1st) Food & Wine Festival Opening Day (Roughly near the end of August based on previous dates) Food & Wine Festival Closing Day (Roughly mid-November based on previous dates) Festival of the Holidays Opening Day (Black Friday, November 27th based on previous years) Bambi and friends If you’re heading to EPCOT in 2026, you may want to avoid these dates if at all possible.
