  2. We just can’t get enough of Hollywood Studios right now, and clearly, neither can anyone else! Hollywood Studios Morning We just spotted ANOTHER extension to Hollywood Studios morning hours for the month of March. That means you’re going to have to get up pretty early if you want to claim a Boarding Group to get on Rise of the Resistance in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. It also means you’ll have even more opportunity to snag a ride on the all-new Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway opening on March 4th. So, read on if you want to know alllll those nice extension deets. We noticed that there’s been a park hours extension in the morning every day from March 1st to March 14th. This comes after many of these dates already received a 30 minute hours extension in the evening. SO MUCH MORE STAR WARS TIME. HS Hours Every day in March until the 14th has been swapped from a 9 AM opening to an 8 AM opening. This is likely a continued response to crowd levels for Rise of the Resistance as hours have been extended many times this year already. HS Hours All in all, we’re just happy for a few more hours in the park next month! We’ll keep an eye out for more hours extensions as we definitely wouldn’t be surprised if there are more to come. In the meantime, get excited about that spare time to hop on Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway! Check out the newest poster in the countdown series to Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway! Are you taking a trip to Disney World in March? Happy about these hours extensions? Let us know in the comments! Refurbishments in Disneyland Haunted Mansion So let’s zip across the fifty states to Disneyland and see what’s a work-in-progress over there. Work on the Haunted Mansion continues as Disney aims to improve mechanics, interiors, and exteriors. There’s a BIG scrim up this week so progress is hidden but we should see the return of this iconic attraction sometime in the Spring. Haunted Mansion Check out everything we know about the Haunted Mansion closure! 4. It’s hard to believe that Disney California Adventure at the Disneyland Resort has been open for almost twenty years. While initially, the park struggled to find its footing in the shadow of Disneyland Park just a hop, skip, and a jump away, the Imagineers were able to go back and sprinkle a helping of pixie dust to give California Adventure a major makeover. Disney’s California Adventure Now we can walk down a re-creation of 1920’s Hollywood to the Carthay Circle Theater, journey under the sea with Ariel, race through Radiator Springs, and hang with our Pixar pals on the pier. What can follow this up? Disney California Adventure’s Vice President, Patrick Finnegan, recently gave some insight into where the park is headed in the future. Details about the Future of the Park The Orange County Register sat down with Finnegan and asked him what he thought of the last 19 years of California Adventure’s operation and what the future could have in store for the park. This summer, the first phase of the highly-anticipated Avenger’s Campus will open, which includes the Spider-Man shooting-gallery ride where you will sling webs with your hand gestures and the PYM Test Kitchen. We’re excited to try some of their grown and shrunken food! Avengers Campus Concept Art ©Disney Spider-Man is going to swing right above our heads, too! Once the new land opens, the Marvel character meet-and-greets and the towering Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout will officially move out of the adjacent Hollywood Land. Where does that leave the back lot of Hollywood Land? Finnegan responded, “As the Avengers are moving out, we’re certainly looking at, ‘OK, does something need to move in? Does it go back to where it was? It’s very much something that we’re talking about.’” Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout While Finnegan didn’t elaborate on what exactly would replace the Avengers in the studio backlot area, we’re excited to see what the wizards at Walt Disney Imagineering come up with. Finnegan also spoke on the possibility of incorporating lessons learned from the Villains Grove conversion of Redwood Creek Challenge Trail for Halloween. During the interview, he said, “It was super popular and very different from anything that we’ve ever done before. We’re looking at how do you use that kind of infrastructure for other things.” Redwood Creek Challenge Trail ©Disney Before the park turns 20 next year, this year is still shaping up to be eventful. The Disney California Adventure’s Food and Wine Festival will begin at the end of this month on February 28th and it’s bringing with it the return of Soarin’ Over California! 7. We’re less than a month away from rolling out the red carpet for the new Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Earlier this week, Walt Disney Imagineering marked a milestone on the attraction’s progress by unveiling its dazzling new marquee. “We want to make sure that we’re providing an amazing marquee that really celebrates the entrance into a great attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios,” said Art Director Phillip Hillis. The marquee is brought to “light” by blinking bulbs and animated depictions of Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse created with real, hand-crafted neon. It takes its design cue from the extravagant made-for-the-movie marquees that were custom designed for the premieres of epic films in the mid-20th century. It also connects to the design and glamour of the Chinese Theatre and Hollywood Boulevard, the main thoroughfare through the park. When the attraction debuts on March 4, Disney’s Hollywood Studios guests can head to the Chinese Theatre to see the world premiere of Mickey and Minnie’s latest cartoon short entitled “Perfect Picnic.” The theater will serve as the magic portal through which theater-goers can burst directly into the cartoon world. And did you know that Mickey and Minnie have a history at the Chinese Theatre in Hollywood? The 1931 Mickey Mouse cartoon “Mickey Steps Out,” was screened at the Chinese Theatre. And the 1933 cartoon, “Mickey’s Gala Premier,” opens with an establishing shot in front of the Chinese Theatre with a blinking marquee and crisscrossing searchlights welcoming Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Horace Horsecollar and Clarabelle Cow to the red carpet. 9. There’s nothing better than the feeling of receiving a handwritten note from somebody who cares. Today happens to be National Send a Card to a Friend Day, and as always, I’m feeling proud of our Disney VoluntEARS. For the past 25 years, compassionate cast members from all over the company and their family and friends have written, drawn and painted thousands of postcards for active duty U.S. military service members through Operation Uplift. This program is just one way Disney carries out a longstanding tradition of supporting active-duty military personnel and veterans, inspired by Walt and Roy Disney’s service during World War I. Last year alone, Disney VoluntEARS from Walt Disney World Resort spent nearly 500 hours preparing over 10,000 handwritten postcards to send to troops serving domestically and overseas. These messages of gratitude make a positive impact for the men and women who serve our nation by reminding them that we are all thinking of them and the sacrifices they are making when they leave their own loved ones to defend our country. One group that is particularly passionate about Operation Uplift is our Transportation VoluntEARS. Led by cast member Nancy Vidarte, who was awarded VoluntEAR of the Year at Walt Disney World Resort in 2017, this team of dedicated Cast Members and their friends and family contribute thousands of patriotic postcards each year. Today and every day, I am so thankful for everything our Disney VoluntEARS do to serve the community. I’m hoping you feel inspired to send a card to someone who needs a little extra love today — I know I do. View the full article

Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway sign Just days ago, we saw the new marquee installed and yesterday we booked our FastPasses for the new attraction coming March 4th (that’s right! They’re now up for grabs on My Disney Experience!). NOW we have to wait until Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway opens to see the sign lit up — OR DO WE? You see, Disney likes to tease us a little sometimes! And even though park guests won’t see the Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway sign on the front of the Chinese Theater illuminate until the new attraction opens — they shared a sneak peek with us! ©Disney We think the new sign is a knock-out in the daytime, but the colorful neon lights really pop in the nighttime! The new sign also features blinking bulbs and flashing elements that make it seem as if Mickey and Minnie are waving us over — so EXCITING! ©Disney Here’s another tidbit we have to share with you guys! 11. Valentine’s Day is the holiday for love and sweets, and Disneyland has been showing how much they love us with all the sweet snacks they’re releasing for the season, like the Heart-Shaped Macaron Sandwich and Chocolate Covered Strawberries. Heart-Shaped Macaron Sandwich We found a new treat over at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel that you’ll want to give your special someone or just maybe treat yo’ self! This Sweetheart Cupcake joins the beautiful lineup of Valentine’s snacks we’ve spotted so far in Disneyland. The chocolate cupcake is topped with vanilla and cherry swirl frosting, heart-shaped sprinkles, and pink pearls. A milk chocolate bow and dark chocolate ears finish off this lovely ensemble. Sweetheart Cupcake This cupcake reminds us of someone, but we can’t quite think of who. Sweetheart Cupcake The cake was light and fluffy, just how we like our cupcakes to be. The cherry flavor in the frosting was not overpowering and allowed the other flavors to really come through. The pearls and the heart-shaped sprinkles gave the cupcake a nice crunch to the texture. If you want to try this heart-felt snack for yourself, you can find it at Craftsman Grill for $7.00. Join the DFB Newsletter to get all the breaking news right in your inbox! Click here to Subscribe! 14. As Epcot’s 2020 Festival of the Arts begins to wind down, we know Disney may release its food booths and menus for Epcot’s 2020 Flower and Garden Festival at any second! 2019 Flower and Garden Festival Earlier today we shared with you the new Orange Bird Minnie Ears that should debut in Disney World when the Flower and Garden Festival kicks off on March 4th, but our festival plans got even sweeter because we know which food booths will likely be returning this year! Are any of your favorites coming back? Keep reading to find out! While Disney has yet to officially release its full list of 2020 Flower and Garden food booths, today they mentioned at least 16 outdoor kitchens will be in attendance at this year’s fest! The Honey Bee-stro Chelsea Florig, Project Manager for Food & Beverage at Epcot went on to state, “We’re bringing back all the favorite outdoor kitchens from last year.” I guess we’ll have to wait a little longer to see what “all the favorites” actually means since we don’t want to assume that means all of last year’s food booths are coming back! But Disney DID share with us the names of three Flower and Garden food booths confirmed to return! Welcome back (drum roll, please!)… 2019 Flower and Garden Festival Citrus Blossom, Honey Bee-stro, and the vegetarian-friendly Trowel & Trellis! Both Citrus Blossom and Trowel & Trellis were new to the festival last year, so we’re happy to see them both returning! You might remember Citrus Blossom had the adorable (and almost impossible-to-get) Orange Bird Sipper last year! No word yet on if he’ll be coming back, but we’ll let you know if we hear anything! Orange Bird Sipper from Citrus Blossom at the 2019 Epcot’s Flower and Garden Festival Honey Bee-stro debuted at the Flower and Garden Festival in 2018 and has been a fan favorite with honey lovers ever since! Somehow they actually got us to enjoy Roasted Cauliflower, so we’re seriously hoping that dish will be returning for 2020! Roasted Cauliflower We are thrilled to see these three booths returning to the festival this year and we’re already sorting through which of our past favorites to order first. We’ll be sure to let you know as soon as we receive a confirmation on the rest of the 2020 Flower and Garden food booths, so stay tuned! Read all about the Flower and Garden Festival here! 15. We’re now less than a month away from the premiere of Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, the first ride-through attraction in Disney history based on Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse. Ahead of the highly anticipated attraction’s March 4 debut, Disney Imagineers are fine-tuning what promises to be a fun adventure for all ages inside the park’s iconic Chinese Theatre. And speaking of that theater … it has a brand-new marquee! Crews installed the glamorous Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway sign earlier this week, which features blinking bulbs and animated neon depictions of Mickey and Minnie beckoning you into their wacky and wonderful cartoon world. The sign won’t officially light up until the attraction opens for guests in March, but someone we all know and love happened to stumble across it this week in the wee hours of the morning and made some magic happen. Check out this video to see the results: Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway takes you inside a “Mickey Mouse” cartoon short, where anything can happen aboard a train ride through Runnamuck Park. You’ll join Mickey, Minnie, Goofy and more on a family-friendly adventure featuring dazzling visual effects, a lovable theme song, and surprising twists and turns. The attraction will open in Mickey’s Toontown at Disneyland park in California in 2022. Keep checking the Disney Parks Blog for more on this exciting new attraction as we count down to its world premiere on March 4! View the full article

  22. Sports fans rejoice because your ultimate dining destination is now open! City Works Eatery & Pour House opened its doors yesterday bringing classic American dishes and an incredible beer menu to Disney Springs. The Chicago-based brand currently operates nine locations across the country with its first Central Florida location conveniently located just outside NBA Experience on the West Side. The venue features 17 televisions, a state-of-the-art sound system including a 168 inch high-definition video screen so you’ll catch all the high-scoring action from every angle. I mentioned there’s an incredible beer menu and I mean it! There are over 90 local and global craft brews on tap at this restaurant including eight wines on draft. If that’s not enough to be excited about the food is just as newsworthy. I had the opportunity to sample a few dishes from the menu filled with so many delicious entrees including sandwiches, tacos, salads, burgers, classic bar bites, and more. Don’t miss the Buffalo Chicken Dip as a starter— it’s filled with the perfect ratio of pulled buffalo chicken and bleu cheese cream making it a snackable dish to kick off lunch or dinner. I’m such a sucker for poke so when I saw Ahi Tuna Tacos on the menu, I knew it was the dish for me—poke-style tuna, Napa cabbage, and avocado topped with cilantro lime cream is a delicious and fresh take on the traditional taco. I sampled a few bites of my friends’ dishes as well and some of my other can’t-miss favorites were the Short Rib, Smoked BBQ Ribs, and the Salmon Burger. If you have any room leftover, the dessert selection satisfies any sweet tooth with Peanut Butter Snickers Pie, S’mores Dip, Root Beer Floats and more. Brunch fans are also in for a treat because the Rock N Roll Brunch menu is filled with mouth-watering dishes on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Grab your friends and come hungry for beignets, breakfast hash, avocado toast, and breakfast sandwiches with mimosa flights and an over-the-top bloody mary. Happy Hour will also be available Monday-Friday, 3:30-6 p.m. with a discounted menu of select beer, wine and appetizers. City Works Eatery & Pour House is currently taking walk-ups and will start to fulfill reservations through My Disney Experience, online and via OpenTable starting March 9. Visiting soon? 24. The countdown is on until the most romantic day of the year, Valentine’s Day! Valentine’s Day Whoopie Pies Like a devoted significant other, Walt Disney World has pulled out all the stops this year with magical celebrations and sweets galore, like the heart-shaped whoopie pies and cherry almond cupcakes we spotted recently at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort. Gasparilla Island Grill at Disney’s Grand Floridian is spreading the love once again with another Valentine’s Day offering, the Enchanted Rose Milkshake. This Strawberry Milkshake is drizzled with Chocolate Sauce and topped with Whipped Cream and Heart Sprinkles. Enchanted Rose Milkshake You may notice the lack of heart sprinkles. So did we! Bummer. This baby is so new that they weren’t prepared just yet but we’re hoping they’ll be offering the full thang soon enough. Enchanted Rose Milkshake This is a pretty standard shake but if you’re a fan of the yummy flavor combo of chocolate-strawberry, this is a safe choice. We definitely preferred it over the chocolate-dipped strawberry latte we tried here today, which was seriously lacking in the chocolate and strawberry departments! 25. We stopped by Disney Springs today to check out the new City Works grand opening, and pick up another Cindy treat on our Cinderella 70th-anniversary bucket list! Disney Springs Guide Like always, we grabbed a Disney Springs guide for our journey when — low and BEHOLD! What have we HERE? A Lady and the Tramp Cake??? Slipping on our special super-zoom glasses we can tell this is likely an Amorette’s Patisserie Petit Cake — we’ve eaten our fair share of them, so we recognize its distinct silhouette (Umm, and it has spaghetti and meatballs on top? CUTE.)! Disney Springs Guide Unfortunately, when we stopped by Amorette’s Patisserie today, we could only find the Cinderella Carriage (which you can read our review of HERE!). But we have a feeling we’ll be seeing this new Lady and the Tramp Petit Cake coming to Disney Springs in time for Valentine’s Day, though! Well keep our eyes peeled for it, but in the meantime, be sure to check out some of the other ways you can give your sweetie a special treat for Valentine’s Day at Disney World — including the Cherry Almond Cupcake and the sweetest Strawberry Ice Cream Sandwich!
