  1. Valentine’s Day is this Friday, people, this is not a drill! Valentine’s Day Cupcake And Disney World has been showing us how much they love us with all the new sweet snacks they’ve been cranking out for the holiday. We don’t mind, we’ll happily dig into a wild Valentine’s Day Cupcake at Animal Kingdom or the Bella Notte Petit Cake at Amorette’s Patisserie. And just before the big day gets here, they put out another sweet treat we had to try. We found this little bundle of heaven called the Sugar Crust Chocolate Covered Raspberry Mousse (try saying that five times fast) at the Artist’s Palette at Saratoga Springs. It looked too interesting to not try it! The cream puff is sugar-crusted with crunhy red sugar and filled with raspberry chocolate swirled mousse. It’s decorated with a white chocolate X and O, some crispy pearls, and a dusting of edible glitter. Sugar Crust Chocolate Covered Raspberry Mousse We were excited to bite into that sweet red crust, but unfortunately, it was pretty bland and dry. The crispy sugar looks pretty, but the hard texture took away from the softer puff it covered! The whole thing looked like it would crumble at the slightest touch, but that sugar was a lot tougher than it looked! Sugar Crust Chocolate Covered Raspberry Mousse Thankfully, the filling completely turned it around! The raspberry mousse was more sweet than tart and the chocolate mousse was creamy and paired well with the raspberry. Compared to some of the other Valentine’s sweets we’ve tried recently, this wasn’t our number one love, but definite points for creativity! You can grab your own and try it at the Artist’s Palette for $4.99 or a Disney Dining Plan snack credit. Check out this Valentine’s Cupcake we LOVED at Artist’s Palette! What do you think of all the Valentine’s Day treats this year? Let us know down in the comments! 2. There’s certainly no shortage of Valentine’s goodies to be found throughout Walt Disney World! Valentine’s Day Red Velvet Whoopie Pies We’ve already seen treats like the Red Velvet Whoopies Pies, the Cherry Almond Cupcake, and the WILD Animal Print Valentine’s Cupcake cupcake. Today, we found the latest Valentine’s cupcake that doubles as a work of art at The Artist’s Palette at Saratoga Springs. The Chocolate-Covered Raspberry Cupcake is a chocolate cupcake with raspberry mousse, a chocolate shell, and edible chocolate pearls and heart. Chocolate Covered Raspberry Cupcake While we’ve seen plenty of treats covered in edible glitter throughout the years, we’re loving how it looks on this hard chocolate shell. Chocolate Covered Raspberry Cupcake And there’s buttercream or icing here! The crunchy chocolate shell opens to reveal a soft and smooth raspberry mousse. The flavor of the raspberry mousse is slightly tart which is a wonderful compliment to the richness and sweetness with all that chocolate. Chocolate Covered Raspberry Cupcake The chocolate cupcake itself is very moist and delicious. We loved finding out that there’s ever MORE raspberry mousse inside the cupcake. What’s even better is that the raspberry mousse on the inside is also mixed with chocolate mousse! YAASSS! Another great way to balance out the flavors. Chocolate Covered Raspberry Cupcake We thought this was an excellent addition to the Valentine’s offerings found throughout the world. If you’re a big fan of chocolate this one is probs for you. The Raspberry flavors here are quite strong, so heads up if that isn’t your thing! The Chocolate-Covered Raspberry Cupcake is available at The Artist’s Palette at Saratoga Springs for $5.99 for a snack credit for those on the Disney Dining Plan. What do you think of the newest Valentine’s offering at Walt Disney World? Let us know! Related posts: REVIEW: NEW Menu Items from The Artist’s Palette at Disney World’s Saratoga Springs Resort! 3. Get ready music and food-lovers, because there’s an updated menu at House of Blues in Disney Springs now! House of Blues While a few items have rock and rolled off the menu, plenty of new options have made their debut. They have added Loaded Mac & Cheese to the appetizers (we can always get down with more Mac & Cheese) which seems to have replaced the Double Dip Deux. There’s also the new Smoke Shack flatbread which has replaced the Foothills flatbread. And there’s a new Fried Catfish Sandwich, which has replaced the Grilled Mahi Sandwich. ©House of Blues If you want your Country Fried Steak fix, you’ll have to get it somewhere else because it’s been entirely removed from the menu. The Georgia Sundae seems to have suffered the same fate and gone up to the House of Blues in the sky. Old House of Blues menu The biggest new additions are on the kid’s menu. Before, the only options for the youngins were a Mini Smoked Pulled Pork Slider or an All-Beef Hot Dog. The slider has been cut from the setlist, but they’ve added options for a Cheese or Pepperoni Pizza, Chicken Tenders, a Mini Cheeseburger, Grilled Cheese, Mac & Cheese, and Pasta with Marinara Sauce or Butter. Old House of Blues Smokehouse menu Now that there are more options for the kiddos, you can take the whole family to House of Blues to eat and soak in the music. We’ll be dreaming about that Loaded Mac & Cheese until we try it for ourselves. What do you think of the updated House of Blues menu? Let us know down in the comments! 4. They say you gotta grab it while it’s hot, and that certainly held true for the most recent Disney X COACH line! Disney x COACH This adorable collection, featuring Donald Duck and Pluto was pretty darn popular and seems like it sold out rather quickly, especially since Disney is needing to “re-launch.” While Disney is referring to this as a re-launch, the collection debuted less than two weeks ago! Sooooo really it’s just a restock, right?! If you’re looking to get your hands on one of these new bags, we’ve got good news for ya! The collection is set to be restocked TOMORROW, February 12th, at Ever After Jewelry Co. in Disney Springs. So, if you’re looking to grab this COACH Donald Crossbody Bag... Disney X COACH …or this COACH Pluto Pouch, you better head over to Disney Springs! Disney x COACH We wonder if this adorable collection will be as popular the second time around! 5. There’s been an outpouring of concern from some of our DFB readers over the past month centered around Le Cellier Steakhouse, a favorite signature dining spot located in Epcot’s Canada pavilion. Le Cellier Steakhouse You see, guests have been experiencing some weirdness with Disney World’s website while trying to make their Le Cellier reservations for the summer! And we’ve been getting tons of emails and direct messages for WEEKS asking WHY! Usually these glitches work themselves out in time, but this one was going on TOO LONG for us to ignore. So to put your troubled minds at ease, we’ve decided to do a little digging and figure out just what exactly’s going on with Le Cellier! We totally get how a meal at Le Cellier is a must-do for your family’s Disney World vacation and we’d be sweatin’ too if we thought gettin’ our Canadian Cheddar Cheese Soup fix was in jeopardy! Canadian Cheddar Cheese Soup Some of our readers raised the alarm when they saw Le Cellier’s calendar grayed out after August 9th. This didn’t raise any red flags for us since Disney World generally only posts their availability 180 days in advance. Guests who are staying at any Disney World resort may book their entire vacation’s dining reservations (up to 10 days) counting 180 days out from the first day of their trip. Le Cellier’s Availability Calendar on Disney World’s Website But we understood our readers’ nervousness when we tried clicking on the dates that were live, only to find there weren’t any reservations available. We clicked on dates from June to August and toggled between lunch and dinner seatings with NO luck. From past experience, we knew it seemed a bit unusual for Le Cellier to have absolutely zero tables available this far in advance. But sure enough, just like our readers, we encountered the same “no tables available” message time and time again! We screenshotted this message from Le Cellier’s website around 11AM this morning. Le Cellier’s Availability Calendar on Disney World’s Website After weeks of experiencing no tables available, and curious to get to the bottom of this, we reached out to Disney World directly this morning to see if they could comment on the issue. Then we called Disney World’s dining reservations number and spoke with a Cast Member this afternoon. Suddenly, times began showing up on Le Cellier’s website! While as recently as this morning you were out of luck if you wanted to make your Le Cellier dining reservations, we’re happy to report as of around 1PM today, many summer dates are currently wide open for lunch and dinner! Le Cellier’s Poutine We’re not sure if the Cast Member we spoke to was our Poutine Fairy Godmother or if we just experienced an amazing coincidence, but if you’ve been anxious about making your Le Cellier ADRs, now’s the time! Get on the Disney World website and bibbidi-bobbidi-BOOK ‘EM! Also, we’ve since heard back from a Disney World spokesperson who has noted that the system was being updated and that the reservations should be available going forward. Note that sometimes this DOES happen — reservations that should be available…just aren’t. Usually they’ll come back online sooner or later. You just have to keep trying. This weeks-long issue with Le Cellier was one of the longer stretches of this we’ve experienced, but we’re glad to see that one of our favorite restaurants is back in bookable form. If there’s a restaurant you can’t book at 180 days (and it’s not one of Disney’s uber popular, books-up-immediately spots), let us know! Have you dined at Le Cellier before? Were you trying to get reservations but hadn’t been able to successfully secure them yet? Let us know in the comments below! 6. Calling all foodies—Mardi Gras and Carnevale is back at Disney Springs and I’ve got all the delicious details to share with you! From the flavors on the streets of New Orleans (where Mardi Gras is most famously celebrated) to the beautiful city of Venice, you’ll discover the perfect way to celebrate with entertainment that will have you “jazzed” up and ready to party. Step into the streets of Italy at Carnevale returning to Maria and Enzo’s now through February 29. Every night from 5-10 p.m. the restaurant transforms into a festival atmosphere filled with live entertainment including musicians, balloon artists, and mask painters where you can request your own unique mask to wear during the event. (Perfect fun for adults and kids!) The famous Carnevale menu returns jam-packed with delicious Sicilian delicacies like antipasti, salads, soups, pasta, entrees and more. (Ask your server about the limited-time drink specials too.) Reservations are recommended and can be made online or by calling (407) 560-8466. Down on the West Side, House of Blues Restaurant and Bar is getting ready to celebrate Fat Saturdays this month with authentic New Orleans-style food and music. Join in on the party in the courtyard on February 15 and 22 from 5-9 p.m. with food and drink specials plus live music from the Brown Bag Brass Brand. Returning favorites on the menu include Bread Bowl Gumbo, Jambalaya and their famous Bread Pudding at the Smokehouse just outside. If you pop into the restaurant, I highly recommend the Shrimp & Crawfish Etouffee—you won’t regret it! If you’re looking for something for your sweet tooth, swing by Sprinkles Cupcakes for the new Bananas Foster Cupcake packed with caramelized banana-infused rum sauce and topped with vanilla buttercream frosting with Mardi Gras themed sprinkles. (Available starting February 17-March 1.) Or pop over to Vivoli il Gelato for the ultimate royal “treat”ment. It’s called the King Shake and it’s an over-the-top shake made with cake gelato spun with milk, a waffle cone, a cinnamon roll, and topped with whipped cream. We hope to see you real soon at Disney Springs to celebrate this popular holiday. As always, tag your photos with #DisneySprings on social media so I can check out all the fun you’re having! 8. If you’re a Disney World secret menu aficionado, make sure you add Gran Destino Tower at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort to your list! Barcelona Lounge at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort That’s because their Barcelona Lounge is known for keeping a few secrets — including this secret menu Passionfruit Sangria! While you won’t find the Passionfruit Sangria on any menu, just ask the Cast Member for one and they’ll know what you’re talking about! It’s made with Satinela which is a sweet Spanish wine, passion fruit purée, orange juice, and Torres Magdala Liqueur! Secret Menu Passionfruit Sangria We think the color of this drink really complements the stunning oranges, yellows, and reds of the Barcelona Lounge’s back bar! The passionfruit and orange juice lends a nice sweetness without being too tart or tangy while the Torres Magdala Liqueur gives each sip a warm, robust flavor. We found our Passionfruit Sangria to be really well balanced, refreshing, and fruity with no harsh after-burn! Secret Menu Passionfruit Sangria You can currently find the secret menu Passionfruit Sangria at Barcelona Lounge for $13. But like its other secret drinks, this sip won’t be sticking around for very long, so ya better head over there quickly if you want to snag this one before it disappears! 11. Ever since we swooned over the latest Valentine’s Day treats released at Amorette’s Patisserie in Disney Springs, we have been dreaming of our own Bella Notte! Bella Notte Petit Cake ©Disney We couldn’t get over the new Lady and the Tramp cake featuring one of our favorite Disney duos and now we know what’s hiding under those candy meatballs! Thanks to @_audreymaxwell, we can now see this cake INSIDE and out! This adorable creation appears to have been inspired by Italian Spumoni and includes layers of vanilla chiffon cake, chocolate biscuit, dark chocolate mousse, pistachio mousse, cherry pate de fruit (chewy gel), and candied pistachios. Bella Notte Petit Cake You may be asking how all of those layers fit into one little treat! Drumroll please… Bella Notte Petit Cake Inside …. Like THIS! 13. Working aboard a Disney Cruise Line ship is a dream job for many, and for Irena and Oliver it’s a family affair. This couple has been serving guests aboard the Disney Magic since 2017. Whether their love was destiny or happenstance is fodder for a romantic comedy: they met for the first time at Miami International Airport on their way to the same cruise ship. Has it always been smooth sailing? They say that being married at sea “is awesome 90 percent of the time” and working for Disney has been an amazing experience. They’re not only committed to each other, but also to creating special memories for our guests. They’re grateful for the chance to meet people from all around the world and connect with families year after year. With three new ships on the horizon, Irena and Oliver look to the future. “Working for DCL has helped us achieve goals we couldn’t otherwise,” says Irena. “It’s something that you can’t compare to anything else.” View the full article

  15. Did you know Feb. 11 is recognized as International Day of Women and Girls in Science? It’s a day that celebrates the accomplishments of women and girls in science and technology and aims to recruit even more into these fields in the future. Well, here at Disney, we have an incredibly talented and diverse team supporting our animals, science and environment work – and we’re proud of the fact that women are strongly represented across all of our teams – in fact, more than 70% of our science and conservation roles are held by women. These cast members are vital in helping us achieve our goals of protecting wildlife and wild spaces each and every day, and today, we are eager to shine a light on the great work they’re doing. Let’s celebrate, the women behind the science, and the magic. Much of the work our team is involved in aims to advance animal sciences to benefit animals here and in the wild. Some of our cast members work behind-the-scenes, spending time in our labs to study behavioral patterns and endocrinology data, while others are providing medical care and training animals to participate in their own care. They focus on helping animals from the inside out, ensuring the thousands of animals in our care stay healthy. Some of our cast conduct research, both in the field, and in our labs. For instance, Dr. Shana Lavin, one of our research managers, and her team are working wonders to help us successfully breed endangered species as part of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) Species Survival Plans. Have you heard about the new zebra foal and colobus infant at Disney’s Animal Kingdom? Both births were made possible thanks in part to the efforts of Dr. Shana and her team. Or take Dr. Lily Maynard, a leader for our conservation programs team, whose field work has helped save monarch butterflies from extinction and provided learnings for the entire AZA community. Studying science has always been a lifelong passion for Dr. Lily – she obtained her undergraduate degree in biology from an all-women’s school, Smith College, before going on to obtain her masters and doctorate degrees at the University of Florida. She continues to make great contributions to the science community and serves as an inspiration for girls looking at STEM careers. These are just a few of the great examples of the important work our cast members are doing and I’m so incredibly proud of how they use their expertise to make the world a better place. You can learn more about the work the Animals, Science and Environment team does by visiting DisneyAnimals.com and Disney.com/conservation. View the full article
