  1. Pumpkin spice here, pumpkin spice there, it feels like we’ve been seeing pumpkin spice everywhere in Disney World (not that we mind it)! Pumpkin Spice Ice Cream Mac-Tini Pumpkin Spice Lattes popped up in the parks a few weeks ago, but now lots of other themed goodies like the Pumpkin Spice Rice Krispie Treats, Pumpkin Spice Ice Cream Mac-Tini, and Pumpkin Bread Tiramisu have trickled in for the Halloween season. Even though that’s a LOT of pumpkin spice, we can’t seem to get enough of it during the Fall! And, that’s why we’re back at Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts to try another pumpkin spice snack and see how it stacks up against the others that we’ve found so far in Disney World. This year, The Market at Ale & Compass and Beach Club Marketplace have a Candy Corn Cupcake, Halloween Tiramisu, AND the new Pumpkin Whoopie Pie as their featured Fall items. Halloween Treats at Disney’s Yacht & Beach Club Since we have had some pretty amazing Halloween snacks already, the Pumpkin Whoopie Pie had some competition to live up to (but we made sure it had a fair chance)! The Mickey-shaped pumpkin cake with a brown butter cream cheese filling with lots of festive sprinkles looked promising… Pumpkin Whoopie Pie …and it TOTALLY lived up to, and dare we say exceeded, our pumpkin treat expectations! In fact, out of the three fall treats we had from The Market at Ale & Compass, the Whoopie Pie was the CLEAR WINNER! Pumpkin Whoopie Pie The cake itself is so soft, and the brown butter cream cheese center is INSANELY GOOD! Although the sprinkles are really cute, this treat is already really rich enough on its own, so we felt like we didn’t need those sprinkles at all to add any more sweetness. This is the type of treat that could take you days to finish because it’s so thick and rich — and, honestly, that’s okay by us. It means we get to enjoy it for even longer! Pumpkin Whoopie Pie You can get this Halloween treat at Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts now through October 31st for $4.69! But, make sure to save some room for more snacks and sips, since we’ll be taking you with us to check out all the other Fall items that will be arriving into Disney World this season! 5. In honor of the Halloween season, tons of treats around Disney World have received a festive makeover! Candy Corn Minnie Mouse Cupcake! A bunch of seasonal snacks have already arrived, but we still have more to share! And the lastest treat we tried puts a spooky twist on classic tiramisù! Available at The Market at Ale & Compass and Beach Club Marketplace at Disney’s Yacht & Beach Club Resorts, this seasonal Tiramisù is dressed in its Halloween best! You can pick it up for $5.49. Tiramisu This treat consists of classic tiramisù with coffee flavor, a chocolate pretzel skeleton, and a marshmallow skull. That spooky tombstone at the top? That’s ladyfinger! Tiramisu This treat was actually better than we were expecting. It was a little soggy, which is hard to avoid with tiramisu, but not so much so that it wasn’t yummy. The flavor is honestly spectacular. There’s a STRONG coffee flavor and we’re suckers for that taste! Tiramisu As you can see the toppings are super cute but they don’t necessarily add anything in terms of flavor. Still, we LOVE the ladyfinger tombstone. Overall, this treat is cute, creative, AND fun. Tiramisu If you’d like to give this spooky treat a try, you can snag it from now through October 31st! 6. We still fondly look back on the days we would hide our Halloween candy so we could savor it long after trick-or-treating. But, nowadays we’d rather just indulge on all the spooky snacks and sips that have been popping up in Disney World instead! Halloween Treats at Disney’s Yacht & Beach Club Although pumpkin spice and even poison apples have practically been the poster children for Halloween treats in the parks, there’s something just so nostalgic about candy corn this time of the year. And Disney’s been serving up looks with Candy Corn Witch Ears and mixing up candy corn treats in the parks and resorts for guests of all ages to enjoy! We couldn’t help but wonder if the newest Halloween treat over at the re-opened Yacht and Beach Club Resort would live up to its previous candy corn competitors! And, in the name of all Halloween candy fans out there, we decided to go find out just how good the Candy Corn Cupcake is for ourselves. Candy Corn Cupcake The Market at Ale & Compass and Beach Club Marketplace have become two of our top spots to visit when we’re on the hunt for new Disney cupcakes. So, we weren’t too surprised to see that Fall had swept across the quick-stops, bringing Halloween treats along with it! Along with the Candy Corn Cupcake, the Yacht and Beach Club Resorts are also featuring a Pumpkin Whoopie Pie AND a Tiramisu (and we’ll be bringing you reviews for those soon). Candy Corn Cupcake But back to the task at hand! We recently enjoyed a chocolate Minnie Candy Corn Cupcake at Disney’s BoardWalk Resort (there’s a vanilla Mickey version there, too), finding it to be a quality cake with a simple yet classic flavor profile. The version here at Yacht and Beach also presents a basic flavor: it’s a vanilla cupcake with layered buttercream colored to resemble candy corn (of course!), and chocolate Mickey ears to match. But here’s the thing… Candy Corn Cupcake Simply put: this particular take on the Candy Corn Cupcake wasn’t quite as good as the one we ate on Disney’s BoardWalk. We can gladly cheer for those simple flavors when the cake itself is good. But since the cake here was, unfortunately, not as fresh and even a bit dry, it didn’t serve to elevate the classic vanilla flavor, and instead it was.. well, ho-hum. Candy Corn Cupcake But don’t forget! We’ve already mentioned that this was NOT the only treat we tried here at Yacht & Beach! We promised you that Tiramisu review AND we’ve got a Pumpkin Whoopie Pie to check out, too! The story doesn’t end here, so stay with us… In the meantime, if you do really want to reminisce about the good ole’ days of trick-or-treating with the Candy Corn Cupcake, it’s available now through October 31st! And, if you’re craving more Halloween goodies (why wouldn’t you be??), we’ll be taking you with us all around Disney World throughout the season for more frightfully fun treats! Add a little magic to your holidays with this sparkly Halloween Cupcake at the Disney Resorts! 9. Pumpkin spice lovers, now is your time to shine! Pumpkin-spiced Mickey Waffle Sundae sign From Rice Krispie Treats to Pumpkin Spice Waffle Sundaes, there are plenty of pumpkin spice goodies to try around Disney World this season! And now, another treat has arrived that pumpkin fans are gonna want to try! Beaches & Cream Soda Shop is known for its iconic ice cream concoctions, most notably the gigantic Kitchen Sink. And while the new seasonal offering we tried today isn’t quite as large as the Kitchen Sink, it’s still absolutely adorable. Beaches and Cream Today, at Beaches & Cream, we got to try the Pumpkin Spiced Butter Pecan Shake, which is made with pumpkin spiced butter pecan ice cream, chocolate sauce, and orange icing and it’s topped with a pumpkin cupcake and chocolate crispy pearls. The cupcake and little decorations on the top of this creation form the shape of a Mickey pumpkin, which was absolutely adorable. The rim of the glass is also covered with some spooktacular sprinkles. Pumpkin Spiced Butter Pecan Shake The cupcake itself is a regular vanilla cupcake, which was fine, but we wish it would have been pumpkin flavored to add even more of a fall feeling to this treat! Pumpkin Spiced Butter Pecan Shake When we tried to remove the cupcake from the shake, it wasn’t the prettiest sight — sorry little Mickey pumpkin! Pumpkin Spiced Butter Pecan Shake Most of the cupcake actually ended up staying in the shake, but we liked that. The mixture of the cupcake in the ice cream actually made the ice cream better and gave it another layer of flavor. Pumpkin Spiced Butter Pecan Shake In terms of the shake itself, the pumpkin flavor is definitely the most prominent. Pumpkin Spiced Butter Pecan Shake We couldn’t really taste the butter pecan, but we still enjoyed this fall treat. Pumpkin Spiced Butter Pecan Shake A Cast Member we spoke to also mentioned that these are available at the Beaches & Cream To Go Window, so that’s a quick way to get this fun fall treat on the go. Beaches & Cream To Go You can snag the Pumpkin Spiced Butter Pecan Shake for $15 now through October 31st! 11. We’ve got some interesting Disney World construction news today! Big Thunder Mountain in Disney World We spend a lot of time spotting construction in the Disney parks. Just yesterday we found some new construction in EPCOT’s Italy Pavilion. To be honest, we’re pretty used to construction in EPCOT, but it’s more surprising when we hear tell of projects in Magic Kingdom! Could these permits point to upcoming ride refurbishments? We were perusing Disney World building permits (which we do a lot), when we spotted two new permits, filed September 10th and 11th, for the address coded to Big Thunder Mountain Railroad in Magic Kingdom to “provide labor, material, and/or electrical for construction.” Oooh interesting! Permit Screenshot It’s an internal Disney permit which means the document doesn’t have too much information about what the work entails. Typically, this wouldn’t be enough info for us to be interested, but Big Thunder Mountain Railroad was supposed to close for refurbishment during the closures! Is it time Disney caught up on this work? Maybe! Big Thunder Railroad Mountain queue entrance And Big Thunder isn’t the only classic attraction having some work done! We also spotted this permit to “remove and reinstall graphics” at the address coded to “it’s a small world!” This work sounds like a quick shape-up of some of the graphics on or in the building, so we’re not sure we’ll even notice it being done. Still, it’s interesting to note that this opening-day attraction is st to get a little TLC. Permit Screenshot We’ll be keeping an eye out to see if any work starts on these two attractions, and we’ll be sure to let you know as soon as we see anything — ESPECIALLY if that Big Thunder work means a ride closure! 12. Snacks + Minnie ears = perfection! Yorkshire County Fish Shop We were already excited that Yorkshire County Fish Shop is set to be open on the weekends now in EPCOT, but now we’ve found a way to celebrate our love for fish & chips all the time — Fish & Chips Minnie Mouse EARS! YES! That’s right! We’ve seen LOTS of new Minnie ears released, but these Fish & Chips Minnie Ears TAKE THE CAKE (or take the fish we should say)! The front features a cartoon fish on one side and a cartoon chip on the other (we never thought we’d be writing that in a post, but we’re here now and we LOVE it). And just check out that awesome bow done sort-of in that newspaper style, which totally reminds us of the newspaper type paper the fish themselves are served in at Yorkshire County Fish Shop. Fish & Chips Minnie Ears The back features a cute “Fish and Chips” design spread across both ears, and you can see that newspaper design all throughout the sides of the headband. Fish & Chips Minnie Ears We found these ears in a gift shop in the United Kingdom pavilion in EPCOT. You can snag one for $29.99. And really, how could you resist these beauties? We’ll be on the lookout for more Minnie ears and let you know what we find. Will we see more snack related ears? We DEFINITELY hope so! 13. We’ve had a pretty great time chasing down new pairs of Mickey and Minnie ears recently. The Disneyland Hotel We just keep spotting them in and out of the parks! From Halloween Ears like the Jack ‘O Lantern Mickey Ears to unique ears like the Norway Viking Ears, it’s hard to pick a favorite. But, we DO have a new contender from Disneyland. Seriously, these just might be the best ears we’ve seen on the west coast in a WHILE. Feast your eyes upon the Retro Disneyland Minnie Ears! Ugh! They’re cuter than we ever imagined a pair of ears would be. Honestly, they’re just making us miss walking towards Sleeping Beauty Castle even more. Retro Disneyland Ears The headband has the classic Disneyland slogan, “The Happiest Place on Earth,” plus a little Disneyland flag. These ears are available in World of Disney at Downtown Disney for $29.99. Retro Disneyland Ears The design is inspired by the OG Disneyland sign and it looks so good in front of the light blue sequins of the ears. Retro Disneyland Ears We’re not the only ones who think these ears are pretty great. The shelves were full of new pairs when we got to World of Disney, and in the time it took us to purchase ours, ALL OF THEM were gone. Retro Disneyland Ears These ears might be gone in World of Disney right this second, but you never know WHEN they’ll restock! We’ll be keeping an eye out for these ears so stay tuned to find out where you can have a chance to snag them. Looking for more Disney ears? Click here! Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn & Cafe The entrance has been changed, and for now guests are entering the restaurant from the side (just across from Golden Oak Outpost). 16. Navigating a reopened Disney World can be a tricky challenge! It can certainly feel like things are constantly changing in the parks these days. Disney World How many people are allowed in? Will our favorite snacks be available? What time do the parks even close!? It can be hard to keep track! We don’t want these changes to catch you unaware, so we’re taking a look at three NEW Disney World trip mistakes that you’re totally not expecting and how to avoid them! 1. Don’t Forget to Keep An Eye on Park Hours! First off, Disney has been changing park hours around like nobody’s business. You probably know that hours have been limited since the parks reopened; there are no late nights for riding rides and eating treats right now! Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Earlier this month, Disney shortened park hours in all four parks only to announce that select park hours would be extended again in November. Not to mention, there have been several instances of a park randomly getting an extra hour without any sort of announcement. Spaceship Earth We’re constantly keeping an eye on the Disney park hours and it can even be hard for us to keep up with all the changes. We would HATE for you to be surprised by shortened park hours when you made your plans based on old information. Hollywood Studios Keep a close eye on the park hours for your Disney trip. Typically, Disney will change hours a few weeks out, but you never know when a change could happen in these strange times. So, refresh yourself on the hours and your plans for the park you’ll be in each day. That way you’re not stuck with a BIG change of plans in the middle of your vacation. Click here to learn more about the November hours extension! 2. Learn Your Transportation Options BEFORE You Need Them. Navigating the changes that Disney has made to transportation is a mistake waiting to happen if you’re not prepared. Some transportation options are limited and some aren’t available at all. We’re going to run you through a few things to keep an eye out for so that you know what to expect when getting around Disney World right now. Monorail For one, most methods of transportation have limited capacity in one way or another. The buses have limited zone seating, the monorail cabins and boats have a smaller capacity, and the Skyliner is running with one party per gondola. Plus, one mainstream option isn’t available — you can’t take the monorail to EPCOT. The monorail station at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort will be closing in early October as well. Disney Skyliner There’s even been one instance of Disney announcing a transportation reopening (the Friendship Boats) only for them to remain unavailable the day they were supposed to reopen. Transportation can be unpredictable and travel times can be longer than you might expect. Avoid any mistakes by being prepared! Donald Duck Bus Build-in extra time for transportation around Disney World just like you always would. You might think that limited capacity means it’s easier to get around but that’s not always the case. Allow 30 minutes to an hour to get from point A to point B. When in doubt on the best way to get around, ask a Cast Member! They’ll be happy to help get you on your way. Click here to learn more about transportation in a reopened Disney World. 3. Be Flexible With Your Dining Expectations. And finally, we want to talk about a BIG one (for us especially!). The menus in dining spots around Disney World have been in a state of flux since reopening and some of your favorites might not be available. Don’t get your heart set on a snack just to find out it’s unavailable. Sonoma Goat Cheese Ravioli at California Grill When the parks first reopened, we were pretty upset by some of our missing favorites on the menu. Some of our favorite Dole Whip Floats, loaded fries, and sweet treats were unavailable. Since then, we’ve seen some snacks return, like the lovely Kakamora Float, but a LOT is still missing on the Disney World menus. Kakamora Float If you’re headed to grab a snack or meal, check those menus to make sure your favorite items are still available. PLUS, some dining locations are still closed and others are only open on select days of the week! You’ll want to be informed about what you can and can’t expect when it comes to dining on your Disney trip. Blocked Off Things really are always changing. You might come to terms that your favorite treat is unavailable, just to arrive at the counter and see it on the menu! And Disney is announcing new restaurant reopenings regularly, so stay in the loop to avoid any gaps in expectations. Views from Inside of Cinderella’s Royal Table And there you have it! We hope this helps you to avoid any big mistakes on your Disney vacation. Remember, stay in the loop and stay flexible and things can work out just fine. 17. Today, Disney hosted an invitation-only virtual press conference to “update on how we’re making magic while we continue to promote health and safety.” We were invited to attend the conference. Disneyland Gate Disney executives took today’s conference as an opportunity to give an update on the parks that have reopened and to call on California’s governor for guidance when it comes to the reopening of Disneyland. They assert that the longer Disneyland remains closed, the greater the repercussions are for the surrounding communities. Disney World’s Reopening Has Gone Well The press conference started out with comments from Djuan Rivers, Vice President of Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and Melissa Valiquette, Vice President of EPCOT, discussing the measures currently in place in Disney World. They presented the success of social distancing, face mask requirements, and capacity limitations in the Disney parks. Magic Kingdom Valiquette noted that, according to data collected by Disney, guests have been cooperative and pleased with the health and safety measures. She explained that eight out of ten park guests consider the health measures “just right.” The conference went on to show guests from within the Disney parks discussing their experience. Mickey Mouse Overall, the primary section of the conference served as an update on the success and lessons from Disney World before the subject matter turned to Disneyland, which has remained closed since March. Click here to learn more about navigating a limited capacity Disney World. Similar Efforts Are In Place for Disneyland Disney California Adventure and Downtown Disney Vice President Patrick Finnegan gave the update on Disneyland. He emphasized that the reopening of Downtown Disney has gone well and that the parks are ready to follow a similar plan to Walt Disney World — theme park reservations system, health and safety measures, and expanded mobile offerings — when they are allowed to reopen. Press Conference Screenshot Finnegan also announced that Disneyland is currently working on a new program that would help their Cast Members have access to COVID-19 testing. He said, “We are in the process of finalizing a plan that would allow Cast Members to have access to testing in their own communities.” To learn more about the Disney Park Pass system, click here. Disneyland is Ready to Reopen, Pending Government Approval Finnegan noted that talks with the governor’s office on the subject of reopening safely continue, but that “We are ready to reopen.” As we’ve heard in calls from the Disneyland President, the next step towards reopening the parks is in the governor’s hands. They are awaiting guidelines to help conduct a safe and prompt reopening. Josh D’Amaro These sentiments were then echoed by Chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences and Products Josh D’Amaro. D’Amaro spoke the closing remarks for the conference noting that Disneyland’s ability to reopen is not just about Disney but about the communities that Disney helps to support. He remarked that the closure of the theme parks is drastically affecting the surrounding counties, saying that tens of thousands of livelihoods depend on Disneyland. Addressing the California government, D’amaro made statements regarding employees and the community. I encourage you to treat theme parks like you would other sectors… Help us reopen. The longer we wait, the more detrimental it will be to Anaheim and the surrounding communities, and the tens of thousands of people who rely on us for work. He closed saying, “We’re ready, and more importantly, it’s time.” Sleeping Beauty Castle Governor Gavin Newsom noted last week that information about the theme parks is coming soon. We’ve yet to hear any further news about the upcoming guidelines. Stay tuned to DFB for the latest updates. Click here for the latest update from the California Governor. 18. Earlier this year, we saw the 2020 Star Wars Rival Run Weekend canceled and the 2020 Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend converted to a virtual event. ©runDisney No word, however, had been released on the 2021 Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend or the 2021 Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend. But, today we got an update from runDisney about both of these events. Today we spotted an update on the runDisney website noting that Disney has decided to convert both the 2021 Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend and 2021 Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend to virtual events. ©runDisney Disney noted that during this time, due to the global pandemic, “race organizers around the world continue to pause on hosting in-person race events that draw large crowds,” and so, it appears, Disney will be doing the same. Disney said that they have based their decision on the “unique circumstances of hosting a road race experience on this scale under the current environment.” ©runDisney Instead of simply canceling the events, however, Disney notes that they will be converted to virtual races — similar to the offering they’ve created for the 2020 Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend. ©runDisney Currently, the Star Wars Rival Run for 2021 is still scheduled to take place in Walt Disney World in April of 2021. We’ll be on the lookout for more information regarding these runDisney races and future races. Be sure to come back for all the latest updates.
