We’re back on the Halloween Treat Trail with another seasonal snack from Disney World! Halloween Treats at Saratoga Springs Resort After tasting (and falling in love with) the Pumpkin Whoopie Pie available at Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts, we wondered what other delectable Whoopie Pies we could fill our bellies with. Our search has brought us to Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort! But does this pie measure up? We set course for The Artist’s Palette, which is Saratoga Springs’ go-to counter service dining location when you’re in need of a quick bite to eat! Artist’s Palette There, we found none other than the Pumpkin Spiced Whoopie Pie! Pumpkin Spiced Whoopie Pie This dessert is a chocolate whoopie pie filled with pumpkin-spiced marshmallow, and decorated with a Chocolate Spider complete with an icing web. EEK!! EEK! It certainly SOUNDS delicious, and it looks scary cute, but does it match the divine experience that was the Pumpkin Whoopie Pie from the Yacht and Beach Club? It’s a battle of the Whoopie Pies, y’all… and we have a winner! Unfortunately, though… Pumpkin Spiced Whoopie Pie It’s not this one. While the Pumpkin Spiced Whoopie Pie here at The Artist’s Palette certainly is a treat to look at, the cake portion was dry, and — perhaps more surprisingly — it lacked flavor. And then there’s the matter of the pumpkin marshmallow filling… Pumpkin Spiced Whoopie Pie The filling had a rather odd texture — almost as though there was a gelatin mixed in with the marshmallow. Like, it actually jiggles. The pumpkin-spiced flavor was nicely present, but that was… well, pretty much the only highlight (aside from that cute spider and web topping, of course). Pumpkin Spiced Whoopie Pie But don’t you fret… we tried a couple more treats at Saratoga Springs Resort today, and one of them is as tasty as it is Instagram-worthy (AND that one’s available at Old Key West Resort, too). We’ll have our review for you right here soon! So much is happening at Tokyo Disney Resort! Not only have the theme parks reopened there, but the resort also recently resumed nightly fireworks and parades, as well as character meet and greets! Tokyo Disneyland Castle But there have also been some other fun additions to Tokyo Disneyland, too, including several new attractions! One of those attractions is “The Enchanted Tale of Beauty and the Beast,” which has some jaw-droppingly amazing animatronics! But a certain robot-turned-superhero also recently got his own attraction with “The Happy Ride with Baymax.” The Happy Ride with Baymax at Tokyo Disneyland ©Disney Attractions Magazine just released a video of the ride, and just watching it made us smile! It really is “The Happy Ride!” We could totes watch this over and over. The ride itself reminds us of the Alien Swirling Saucers in Toy Story Land at Hollywood Studios at Disney World, which is also a lot of fun. But here, we love that Baymax is driving each ride vehicle! “The Happy Ride with Baymax” officially opens on September 28th. We love seeing all these great attractions getting added to Tokyo Disneyland, and it’s making us a little jealous that these are exclusive to Tokyo. Rain or shine, it’s always fun to take a walk around EPCOT and see what’s new! Spaceship Earth at EPCOT From new items available at the 2020 Taste of EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival to a whole line of Fish & Chips MERCH in the United Kingdom pavilion(!!), come with us on a trip around the Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow to see what new things we spotted! EPCOT Food Updates The Donut Box — 2020 Taste of EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival Although there are LOTS of food booths already serving delicious snacks at the Food & Wine Festival, we’re still waiting for a few more to open up. In particular, we’ve been keeping a close eye on The Donut Box. This booth is already constructed in EPCOT’s Future World, but, during our last visit, it was still not open to guests. We did notice, however, that the booth now has stanchions in place, establishing a clear queue for us to stand in to grab ALL the sweet treats once this spot is open. The Donut Box There were also some registers already in place next to the booth. The Donut Box Registers C’mon delicious donuts, we’re ready for ‘ya! Cool Wash — 2020 Taste of EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival We’ve also been keeping an eye out for any updates around Cool Wash, which is located just across from The Donut Box. We noticed that Cool Wash is now fully equipped with stanchions that go fairly far down into the walkway to create a queue for guests to wait in once this spot opens. Cool Wash We also spotted some registers next to this spot, so it seems we’re one step closer to getting some refreshing and fun treats from here. Cool Wash Registers But, what treats will they be? Previously, this spot still had some menus up from the 2020 EPCOT Flower and Garden Festival. Cool Wash Menu But, when we stopped by recently, all of those menus had been removed. Cool Wash Menus Removed We’ll definitely be stopping by this location during our future trips to see if/when new menus are put up. Will we see significantly different options this year? We’re not sure, but we’ll definitely let you know as soon as we spot any kind of update! Halloween Cups! Recently, we spotted Halloween cups over in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and during our most recently trip to EPCOT we also found some of those same cups available at some snack carts. Halloween Cups at EPCOT! So, if you’re on the hunt for all things spooky, be sure to check with the Cast Members if the location you’re ordering a drink from has the Halloween cups available! Click here to see where exactly we found these cups in Disney’s Animal Kingdom! Sunshine Seasons — The Land Pavilion, Future World Triple decker GARLIC TOAST pulled pork sandwich! Need we say more? We found this absolutely DELICIOUS NEW sandwich, called “The Land Crusher,” over at Sunshine Seasons in The Land pavilion. The Land Crusher Three layers of Texas Toast, pulled pork, melted cheddar cheese, and sweet barbecue sauce make up this incredibly large and delicious item. Just look at this thing! It’s a carb lover’s dream come true! Check out our full review of The Land Crusher! Regal Eagle Smokehouse: Craft Drafts and Barbecue — America Pavilion After all that savory food, we were in the mood for something sweet, so we made our way over to Regal Eagle Smokehouse: Craft Drafts and Barbecue in the America pavilion. There, we found the BRAND NEW Apple Tart! Apple Tart This dessert consists of a vanilla tart, filled with sweet cream cheese and cinnamon apples complete with a streusel topping! YUM! Check out our full review of this new treat! Also at Regal Eagle, we noticed that house-make pickles have returned to the menu! They were available for us to order via Mobile Order when we stopped by recently. Pickes are Back! We had these pickles, which have a surprising bit of heat to them, when the restaurant first opened, so we were excited to see them again! Weinkeller — Germany Pavilion Over at the Germany pavilion, we saw that Weinkeller is now selling glasses of wine and beer again! Riesling from Weinkeller at EPCOT So, you KNOW we had to try something! Click here to check out what drink we tried at Weinkeller! Refreshment Outpost As we made our way around the World, we stopped by Refreshment Outpost and found that the Amarula Cream Liqueur had returned! Amarula Liqueur So, you know what that means…you can now get the LEGENDARY Frozen Brown Elephant drink for the first time since EPCOT reopened! The Frozen Brown Elephant features Frozen Coca-Cola mixed with the Amarula Cream Liqueur. YUM. A fan favorite has returned! You can grab this drink for $15. It’s not officially on the menu yet, or at least it wasn’t when we visited, so you’ve got to be “in the know” to get one! Be sure to ask the Cast Members there if they can create this fan-favorite mix for you! Click here to see our review of this drink! Canada Booth — 2020 Taste of EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival In the final piece of food news from EPCOT, we found a whole bunch of updates over at the Canada booth for the Food & Wine Festival. Quite a few of the alcoholic beverage options at this festival booth have changed since it first opened. Here’s our photo of the menu from before: Canada Menu And here’s a photo of what it looks like now: Canada Menu First of all, we noticed the Collective Arts Brewing Blackberry Fruit Beer is gone, as is the Chateau des Charmes Merlot. In place of the Merlot, there is now a Seasonal Red Wine, which turned out to be Meiomi Pinot Noir. Seasonal Red Wine Of course, we had to get a sip of this new wine, strictly for research purposes, of course! Seasonal Red Wine We also noticed that there was another new drink on the menu — the 81Bay Brewing Co. Apricot with Maple Syrup beer. When we went to order that drink, however, we were told that it had already run out of it and it had instead been swapped out to a Strawberry Lime beer — specifically, Twisted Strawberry Fest Fruit Ale. Twisted Strawberry Fest Fruit Ale According to a Cast Member we spoke to, when one beer runs out, they rotate with what they have. The Cast Member even said they had an apple drink at one point. We’ll definitely keep checking this booth to see if other new flavors get added in the future. But, for the time being, we grabbed some of the Strawberry Lime beer to give that a taste. Twisted Strawberry Fest Fruit Ale It was a refreshing treat after a LONG day in the Florida sun! EPCOT Construction and Ride Updates New Signage Not too long ago, we spotted some new signs by EPCOT’s main entrance. Today, we saw some more over by the Tram drop off location indicating where guests can go for the entrance to the park, Guest Relations, buses, and more. EPCOT Signage We also spotted some signs indicating that this was the West Tram Boarding Area for the Journey, Amaze, Discover, and Create parking lots. EPCOT Signage These all have a really nice, sleek look to them. Spaceship Earth Over at Spaceship Earth, we saw that that the big globe and other screens in the exit area of the attraction, known as Project Tomorrow, were back up and running! You can even spot your photo on the screens (assuming the ride didn’t simply replace your photo with a generic cartoon person — we’ve all been there). Spaceship Earth Project Tomorrow For a while, these screens had simply been black as you exited the ride (a little spooky if you ask us!), so we were happy to see these screens adding some light and fun back into this space. EPCOT Merchandise Updates Mouse Gear It feels like Halloween has taken over our lives lately (in a great way!) so it’s no surprise that more Halloween merchandise has started to appear all over Disney World! During our most recent trip to Mouse Gear, we found that our favorite Mickey Mouse Halloween Jack-o’-Lantern Ears have made their way to EPCOT! Halloween ears! We’ve also spotted these in Disney’s Hollywood Studios and even in Disneyland. Click here to see more photos of these adorable ears! If you’re getting ready for Season 2 of The Mandalorian and you’re headed to EPCOT soon, then you’ll be happy to know that the adorable Baby Yoda Shoulder Plushes have made their way over to Mouse Gear! EPCOT is full of fresh bites and cocktails for guests looking to try something unique and delish. A fan favorite has returned! This theme park is home to some of our favorite snacks and a huge assortment of beer, wine, and mixed drinks. We headed to Refreshment Outpost to see if anything new goodies showed up since our last visit. While perusing the menu, we spotted a familiar tasty treat behind the bar. Could it be? Has one of our favorite drinks made a comeback?? Oh yes, kids. That’s clearly a bottle of Amarula Liqueur ready and waiting for us! Queue the fanfare! Amarula Liqueur The Outpost is home to the elusive Frozen Brown Elephant. This absolutely delish beverage is frozen Coca-Cola mixed with milk and creamy Amarula Liqueur. Our first introduction to the drink was at EPCOT Food and Wine Festival in 2013. The original beverage was over ice and now it comes as a frozen slush! YUM! The drink is basically a grown-up cream soda and a surprisingly yummy combination of sweet and creamy. It isn’t currently on the menu, but the bottle of Amarula is out in the open for everyone to see. All you need to do to snag it is to simply ask for it!! The Cast Member told us the Amarula returned to the Outpost specifically for Frozen Brown Elephants. It looks like we’ll be making many returns to Refreshment Outpost real soon! We will let you guys know once this baby is back on the official menu. For now, simply just ask for it by name and let us know what you think!! Disneyland remains closed, but that doesn’t mean we can’t head to Downtown Disney! Downtown Disney District We’re in Disneyland’s shopping and dining district to check out EVERYTHING new. So, without further ado, let’s dive into all the fresh news of construction and merchandise in Downtown Disney! Downtown Disney Construction Updates Disneyland Entrance Let’s start with construction updates! We noticed some exciting changes at the Disney World entrance as Disneyland gets a few steps closer to reopening. We spotted new social distancing stickers placed outside the gates to the park on Tuesday. Disneyland Park Social Distancing Markers That afternoon, a group of folks in business attire checked the markers out before entering Disneyland. Emporium As you may know, the Main Street Emporium in Disneyland has been receiving some updates. Emporium Construction Scaffolding was still up outside the store yesterday. Disney California Adventure Park Peeking through the gate, we could see some new signage installed including more permanent health and safety signs on the lamp posts and social distancing signs on the planters. It’s a great day to shop ’til we drop! Downtown Disney District We’re headed to Downtown Disney yesterday to check in on the latest merchandise! We’ve seen a LOT of fun new Mickey and Minnie Ears in Disneyland recently; today we found something a little different…but just as cool! BEHOLD. It is the NEW Light-up Disneyland Tumbler! This travel cup is designed in the image of Sleeping Beauty Castle and we can’t really think of a better way to sip on an ice-cold beverage. Cadaver Dans We’ve missed these guys so much, and it’s so wonderful to hear them singing in Magic Kingdom again (even if we did keep up with all their videos this summer!). If you want to sample delicious items from some fantastic restaurants around Orlando, including spots in Disney World, at a great value, you’ll definitely want to check out Orlando’s Magical Dining Month. Jaleo As part of this special dining month, select restaurants in Orlando create three-course, prix-fixe dinners for just $35 per person! Additionally, $1 from each meal benefits Feed the Need Florida, an organization that helps feed people who have struggled to get access to healthy food during the pandemic. The event was set to end on October 4th, but it has now been extended! According to Visit Orlando’s Magical Dining website, Magical Dining will be extended a whole extra month, through October 31st! More time to eat more delicious food! Hooray! Il Mulino Magical Dining began on August 28th, and, with this extension, this will mark the longest run of this promotion in the program’s history. According to News 6, Visit Orlando’s president and CEO, George Aguel, said the following in a news release: “We knew that this year, more than ever, this popular seasonal program, executed in a safe and appropriate way, had the potential to bolster local business and employment opportunities in the region, but the community’s response has exceeded even our expectations.” Kimonos Aguel noted that participating restaurants have indicated that “the influx of added diners has helped them recoup lost business, keep people employed and even hire more staff.” Further, Aguel stated that residents of the local community have embraced the return of Magical Dining as it has created a sense of “normalcy” again and is encouraging the community to enjoy meals in “new and safe ways.” Paddlefish In Disney World, the following restaurants are participating in Magical Dining Month: Jaleo in Disney Springs Paddlefish in Disney Springs Terralina Crafted Italian in Disney Springs Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill in Disney Springs Il Mulino New York Trattoria in the Walt Disney World Swan Hotel Kimonos in the Walt Disney World Swan Hotel Due to limited seating capacity in the participating restaurants, guests are encouraged to make reservations as early as possible. Disney World is in a constant state of change. Liberty Square Riverboat Sometimes, those changes boil down to refurbishments on beloved and long-standing attractions. We’ve seen permits that might point to some upcoming refurbs in Magic Kingdom and now, Disney has announced that TWO Magic Kingdom attractions will be closing for lengthy refurbishments. According to the Walt Disney World refurbishment calendar, Tom Sawyer Island and the Liberty Square Riverboat will be closing for refurbishment on October 5th. Tom Sawyer Island Currently, the refurbishment is listed through January 2nd; both attractions have “No Times Available” every day from October 5th through the end of the calendar, April 2nd. Liberty Belle We’re not sure what this refurbishment entails, but it is fairly regular for Liberty Square Riverboat to close for a little TLC every year or so. Although Disney executives have made the case for Disneyland Resort to reopen soon, and we’ve seen some signs showing that Disneyland is preparing to welcome guests, an official reopening date for the Disneyland Resort theme parks has not yet been set. Disneyland Gate Today, we’ve spotted an update that shows we may still have to wait a bit longer to visit the happiest place on earth. Previously, Disneyland Resort canceled all Disneyland Resort Hotel reservations through October 3rd. Now, however, Disney is reaching out to guests with reservations at Disneyland Resort hotels through October 10th to modify or cancel their reservations. Disneyland Hotel Room In order to provide the guests with some flexibility, Disney will continue to waive all Disney-imposed change and cancellation fees up to the date of check-in for reservations with arrival dates through October 10th. Disney has also noted that if impacted guests are unable to reach out to Disney before their check-in date, they will not be penalized or assessed any Disney-imposed fees for canceling their Disneyland Resort hotel room reservation or Walt Disney Travel Company vacation package after their check-in date. ©Disney Some package components, however, may be nonrefundable and subject to third-party cancellation policies, so if you are impacted by this change, be sure to check if there are any third-party cancellation fees or policies that apply to you. Additionally, guests who did not book directly with Disney should contact their Travel Professional or third-party operators to make any necessary adjustments to their reservations. The Disneyland Hotel If you need to call Disney to cancel or modify your reservation, you can reach the Walt Disney Travel Company at (714) 520-5050 between 7AM PST and 9PM PST. We need to form a calming circle STAT because we’re a little too excited about the latest Starbucks hack we’re bringing you for Halloween time! It’s just a bunch of Hocus Pocus! Hocus Pocus is a staple when it comes to our spooky season festivities. And, it’s pretty obvious that Disney treasures it (even more than Sarah’s lucky rat tail) since merchandise has popped up all around the parks already. As you get ready to listen to “I Put a Spell on You” on repeat during your next trip to Starbucks, you might want to bring three of your best friends or sistaaahhs to grab THREE Hocus Pocus-themed drinks this Halloween season! While we’re already hooked on the Hocus Pocus Cookies from the grocery store, now you can create your own Starbucks drinks based on the Sanderson Sisters themselves. But, don’t worry — you won’t need Winifred’s Spell-book to conjure them up! Delish gave us step-by-step instructions, so your terrifying trio can have a wickedly great time grabbing these Hocus Pocus-themed sips. Winifred Sanderson Winifred REALLY rocks that bright green dress and unruly red locks, don’t you think?? That’s why the Winifred Frappuccino is channeling some of that energy into both its authentic looks and sweet flavors! Order Instructions: Order a Green Tea Frappuccino Add one pump of White Mocha Syrup Add one pump of Peppermint Syrup Ask for whipped cream on top Finish with crushed strawberry inclusions as the final topping Winifred! As expected, Winifred packs a punch! The powerful taste that comes through is the peppermint. While the white mocha adds a good amount of sweetness, you can’t really decipher that its made with white chocolate. This drink is for those of you who have a sweet tooth and enjoy a refreshing minty taste! Mary Sanderson While many of us would like to be a leader like Winifred or stylish like Sarah, we can’t help but understand Mary’s odd humor on a deep level. Although Mary doesn’t get enough credit for being the most relatable Sanderson sister, the Mary Frappuccino might be our favorite out of the three! In order to capture Mary’s swirled brunette hairstyle and red dress, the ingredients are filled with berries and chocolate (we’re swooning already). Order Instructions: Order a Strawberries and Cream Frappuccino Substitute the sweetener for White Mocha Syrup Ask for Strawberry Purée on the bottom and top of the drink Also, include extra strawberry inclusions Finish with a mocha drizzle on top Mary! The Mary just happens to be our favorite of the three drinks! The mix of strawberry and mocha syrup creates a taste that reminds us of a chocolate-covered strawberry. It tastes like a sweet dessert blended into a cup. None of the drinks come with coffee, but if you’re looking for a pick-me-up, we think this drink would taste the best with a shot of espresso. Chocolate, strawberry, and coffee? Yes, please! Sarah Sanderson We can already tell you that the Sarah Drink will definitely be taking our tastebuds into a land of enchantment! Since Sarah sports a gorgeous berry-colored dress and lipstick to go with her long, blonde hair, her themed drink makes sure to add some sweetness and spice (just like her personality). Order Instructions: Order a Violet Drink Add in extra berries Substitute the coconut milk for soy milk Ask for the drink to be double blended Finish with ginger powder sprinkled on top Sarah! Overall, we think Sarah needed a little extra something added to her drink. She was our least favorite of the sisters and came out lacking flavor and sweetness. This drink is made with soy, which doesn’t add much to the taste. The original Violet Drink is made of coconut milk, which adds depth and sweetness. You might try subbing in coconut if you’re wanting a touch of sugar! Hocus Pocus Drinks! After all those sweet drinks, we thought we’d finish with a bit of black coffee in honor of the famed Black Flame Candle that brought the Sanderson Sisters back after 300 years! The next few months are going to be an exciting time on the Disney World monorail loop! Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort Recently, Disney announced that Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort will not be reopening until the summer of 2021. This is because the resort will undergo a substantial refurbishment. This refurb will include new Moana-inspired elements in locations like the Great Ceremonial House and the Guest rooms. Now, Disney Imagineers have shared even MORE details about this refurbishment — including concept art! According to Disney Imagineer Zach Riddley, the “arrival experience is about to take on a whole new look with an enhanced entryway” at the Polynesian. When you arrive at the resort, you’ll be greeted by a new porte cochere that’s designed in the existing style of the Polynesian Resort. ©Disney Imagineers drew on inspiration from the Longhouses at the Polynesian as well as colors, patterns, and textures from elsewhere in the resort. The result is the high-pitched, open-truss roof, and bold facade that you can see in the concept art! Plus, expect to see geometric and bright wooden screens along the monorail station. Monorail at the Polynesian But the central structure won’t be the only aspect of the entrance to receive an upgrade. The gardens and fountains surrounding the entrance will receive enhancements too, and the structure will be accented by dramatic lighting elements. Expect to see new chandeliers that look like the existing chandelier in the resort lobby! Lighting fixtures This work will be underway for the coming months but Imagineers note that guests can still enjoy access to the Great Ceremonial House and its open dining and shopping spots. Thank goodness! We wouldn’t want to say bye to Aloha Isle for too long. Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort As a reminder, the resort is set to reopen in summer 2021 with newly refurbished guest rooms and other enhancements — like the entrance! The new porte cochere will debut just in time for the resort’s 50th anniversary on October 1st, 2021. That arrival experience is about to take on a whole new look with an enhanced entryway that will debut just in time for the resort hotel’s 50th anniversary. One of the biggest changes will greet you right up front – a new porte cochere will showcase the iconic mid-20th century architecture the Polynesian is famous for. Our team from Walt Disney Imagineering and Walt Disney World have crafted a design inspired by colors, patterns and textures found throughout the resort. This new entry features a high-pitched, open-truss roof covered in a thatch style. There’s also a bold façade that features pops of color complementing the Longhouses found throughout the resort. Along the Monorail station, bold new wooden screens will be covered with geometric patterns in bright, tropical colors that complete an exciting new composition that will greet you when you arrive.
