As you may know, EPCOT is set to receive an all-new fireworks show celebrating the power of music — Harmonious. Harmonious ©Disney The show was supposed to initially debut in the spring of 2020 but has seen a delay due to the historic park closures. We haven’t heard a new reopening date, but we’ve been keeping a close eye on EPCOT fireworks’ progress. Now, we have a pretty BIG sign that could be a step in the direction of the return of fireworks in EPCOT and the rest of Disney World. Thanks to one of our readers (thanks @kellielizabethharris!), we heard that guests at Disney’s Riviera Resort were sent this push notification from the My Disney Experience app tonight. It notes that “There will be a fireworks test at EPCOT with brief noise impacts. Testing will conclude prior to midnight.” © @kellielizabethharris This is exciting news considering fireworks have been unavailable since the reopening of Disney World AND EPCOT is expecting the new Harmonious nighttime spectacular. We’re not sure whether this testing is related to the upcoming show or it’s a protocol for safely viewing fireworks in a reopened Disney World, but either way, it’s progress! Earlier today, Cinderella’s Royal Table surprised guests by reopening a day earlier than previously scheduled. Cinderella’s Royal Table Could another popular restaurant be preparing to join the ranks of other recently reopened locations in Disney World? Here’s what we know! Located in the France pavilion of EPCOT’s World Showcase, Chefs de France is a table service restaurant that serves up a variety of French favorites including escargot, French onion soup, creme brulee, and more. Chefs de France And while Chefs de France is currently still closed, we spotted something that could indicate this location may be welcoming back guests soon. The Disney World website is now showing operating hours for Chefs de France beginning this Friday, September 25th. Screenshot from the Disney World website Up until this point, Chefs de France has shown there are “no times available”, as have the other restaurants that remain temporarily closed. For comparison, here’s a look at what the site shows for tomorrow. Screenshot from the Disney World website We have not yet seen a formal announcement of a reopening date for Chefs de France, and it does still show as “temporarily unavailable” on the Disney World website. Disney World can be an expensive place which is why we keep an eye out for merchandise sales and affordable souvenirs! The American Adventure One of the least expensive souvenirs you can snag in Disney World is a collectible pressed penny from one of the various penny press machines scattered around the parks. And we’ve noticed that Disney is slowly replacing these machines with upgraded versions! We took a tour around EPCOT to see what has — and has not — changed about the penny presses in the World Showcase. This quest was spurred by a shiny new penny press that was recently installed in The American Adventure pavilion. Pressed Penny Machine in the American Adventure A Cast Member explained that while the previous machine had coin slots for guests to pay, it has now been replaced with one that lets guests use a credit card! Pressed Penny Machine in the American Adventure And the machines in The American Adventure pavilion aren’t the only ones around World Showcase that have received an upgrade. Over at the Africa Outpost, the penny presses have also been upgraded to the credit card version! Outpost Penny Press These next few upgraded machines have been around for a while, so it looks like the process of replacing these guys might be pretty slow. The Japan pavilion has two of the upgraded presses… Japan Penny Press …and the China pavilion has one as well! These new machines do make the whole penny pressing experience slightly more expensive, going from 51 cents at the old machines to $1 at the new ones. But another positive aspect of the new machines is that guests no longer need to provide their own penny to be pressed since the new machines can supply one! China Penny Press But, like we said, replacing the machines does seem to be a slow process. Several World Showcase pavilions, like Italy and Morocco, still have the old penny presses. Italy Penny Press As a note, Germany’s penny press is located in one of the stores that is still temporarily closed, but the Cast Member we talked to offered to go get our penny pressed for us. So nice! If you really want that pressed penny from the Germany pavilion, talk to a Cast Member and they may be able to help you out! Morocco Penny Press So, while a pressed penny might not be the first Disney World souvenir that comes to mind for many guests, the new machines do make snagging one a bit easier! When we think of iconic eats in EPCOT’s United Kingdom pavilion, Fish and Chips is one of the first menu items that comes to mind! The Triple Decker Garlic Toast Pulled Pork Sandwich wasn’t the only new menu item we found in EPCOT today! The Land Crusher Between the 2020 Taste of EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival and all of the new Halloween snacks around Disney World, there’s been no shortage of awesome eats for us to try lately! But when we saw a new treat on the menu at Regal Eagle Smokehouse: Craft Drafts & Barbecue, we figured we could make room for dessert! Guests will find Regal Eagle in The American Adventure pavilion in EPCOT’s World Showcase. And if the location doesn’t sound familiar, that could be because the restaurant itself is relatively new! Regal Eagle opened earlier this year in the space of the former Liberty Inn. Regal Eagle Smokehouse As the (full) name suggests, this restaurant celebrates the regions of American BBQ and guests will even find a HUGE smoker near the outdoor seating area. Regal Eagle Smokehouse But Regal Eagle isn’t a one-trick pony — you’ll find an assortment of other items on the menu, including a number of sides, as well as beer, wine, and cocktails. Regal Eagle Sides Oh, and did we mention dessert?? As we were making the rounds through EPCOT, we noticed a new Apple Tart on the menu at Regal Eagle. And, of course, we HAD to give it a try! Apple Tart This dessert consists of a vanilla tart, filled with sweet cream cheese and cinnamon apples complete with a streusel topping! Apple Tart And this was a treat, indeed! We could definitely taste the sweetness from the vanilla, and the apples added a crisp, refreshing flavor which we really enjoyed! Apple Tart One of our favorite parts of the dessert was the cinnamon flavor of the streusel topping. And combined with the sweet and refreshing notes from the other ingredients, this Apple Tart was a delightful combination of flavors! After Disney World reopened, many of its bars remained closed and were unable to serve alcohol to guests, due to a statewide ban of on-premise alcohol consumption at bars. This ban affected any bars that received more than 50% of their gross revenue through alcohol sales. White Wine Flight at Weinkeller Recently, though, the state of Florida lifted that ban and allowed bars to reopen at 50% capacity. And we’re starting to see bars at Disney World begin to reopen, too, like the Uzima Springs Pool Bar at Animal Kingdom Lodge, and the Thirsty River Bar, and Dawa Bar at Animal Kingdom. Although Weinkeller at the German Pavilion at EPCOT didn’t close its doors entirely, it was previously unable to sell wine and beer by the glass. We could buy bottles of German booze there, though, like our much beloved Mozart Chocolate Cream Pumpkin Spice liqueur. But last Friday, things changed! Weinkeller at EPCOT Weinkeller can now sell glasses of wine and beer again! PROST! We decided to drop in and wait in a pretty empty socially-distanced line to get a glass for ourselves (because why not?). The Cast Member working there recommended the 2018 Clean Slate Riesling and promised that it wasn’t super sweet like some Rieslings. Riesling from Weinkeller at EPCOT And it wasn’t too sweet. It was dryer than many Rieslings we’ve tried, but not as dry as something like a Chardonnay. It was pretty delish and we found it crisp and refreshing. It’s the kind of thing you want to drink on a hot and humid day, for sure! Riesling from Weinkeller at EPCOT We even got hints of apple coming through as we sipped on it. Now we might act like we’re wine snobs, but we really aren’t sommeliers or anything like that. But we do know what we like! Here’s the full menu of wines available by the glass. Ours was $8 for 3 oz. Want an annual pass that gives you access to the theme parks in Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort? Disneyland’s Sleeping Beauty Castle Then, you’ll want to look at the Disney Premier Passport. This unique Annual Pass grants you admission to the Disney World and Disneyland theme parks for a whole year without blackout dates, and even has special features like access to the Disney World water parks. Disney Premier Passport holders looking to visit Disneyland this year haven’t exactly had the opportunity to do so these past few months since Disneyland closed earlier this year and has not yet reopened. Disney is now reaching out to Premier Passport holders and letting them know that Premier Passports “on the verge of expiration” will be extended in the coming weeks. Specifically, Disney has noted that it will be making 30-day extensions to these expiring Passports so that they can remain active and available to make Park Pass reservations at Disney World while Disneyland’s theme parks remain closed. Disney World Disney has also noted that these extensions will continue on a monthly basis until a reopening date is set for Disneyland Resort. Once that reopening date is set, Disney will apply a final extension to all Premier Passports based on the theme park closure period. Disneyland Gate Although we’ve seen several signs that show us Disneyland is (hopefully) getting closer to reopening, no official reopening date has been set yet. Disney executives have recently made a strong case for Disneyland to reopen soon, so we’re definitely on the lookout for any more updates on that situation. It’s officially SPOOKY season, and that means we can celebrate the Haunted Mansion even more than we normally do! We’ve seen a lot of really cool Haunted Mansion merch in the parks, including Haunted Mansion Crocs (!!!), Haunted Mansion Loungefly bags, and a Haunted Mansion wallpaper mask. Even though we’ve been seriously enjoying ALL of the amazing snacks from the 2020 Taste of EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival, we can’t forget that there are several other spots to grab a meal or a special treat around EPCOT outside of the festival. The Land Pavilion So, today we resisted the temptation to eat our way around the world, and instead made our way over to The Land pavilion to see what new food we could find. Inside of The Land pavilion is a quick service location called Sunshine Seasons. Sunshine Seasons Today, we spotted a NEW item on the menu, so we placed our Mobile Order for this new food and picked it up at the designated location when it was ready. Time to Eat! Introducing The Land Crusher! This sandwich truly is a sight to behold! The Land Crusher This amazing sandwich features Pulled Pork and Cheddar piled high on Texas Toast served with Chips. The Land Crusher with Chips Okay, so it’s impressive looking, but how does it taste? Well, we will waste no time in telling you that The Land Crusher is ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! First of all, it’s HUGE. It’s a triple decker sandwich, meaning it is made with not 1, not 2, but 3 whole pieces of Garlic Texas Toast! It’s a carb lover’s dream come true. The Land Crusher The pork in the sandwich was also cooked perfectly, and the barbecue sauce on it is sweet and very yummy! And just take a look at the melted, gooey, delicious cheese. So good. The Land Crusher When you take the pickles off of their fancy little spears and actually apply them to the sandwich, they add a delightful crunch. We could have done with a few more pickles, actually. The Land Crusher Did EPCOT need another barbecue meat sandwich (see: Regal Eagle)? Maybe not. But, are we upset that this wonderful pulled pork sandwich now exists? No way! We think Regal Eagle’s barbecue sandwich may be just slightly better simply because you can choose your own sauces there and we like the ability to make our food a little bit more customized to our taste preferences. And, obviously, the sides at Regal Eagle are better than a bag of Lay’s chips (no hate to Lay’s, just speaking the truth). The Land Crusher But if our only complaints about The Land Crusher are the side it comes with and the need for more pickles, we think this sandwich is truly crushing it. Overall, we’d say The Land Crusher is a real winner. It was delicious and very filling. With 3 layers of garlic toast, what’s not to love? Y’all know how much we love the Baby Yoda Show, aka The Mandalorian, on Disney+. We’ve talked a lot about all the great Baby Yoda merch we’ve discovered, as well as other merch related to the series! As many organizations struggle with unexpected challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, support from the DCF will help provide groups key resources to carry forward efforts to bolster communities and to protect wildlife around the world when they need it the most. CF is working to address the threats lemurs face by working with local communities to highlight tangible benefits of eco-tourism, empower youth and restore critical habitat by planting more than 60,000 trees each year.Global Penguin Society (GPS): Penguins, People and the Planet – GPS has already had great success protecting penguins and their habitats, leading an effort to establish 32 million acres of terrestrial and marine protected areas in South America. This project will help support the conservation of Magellanic penguins in Argentina, expanding research to help protect penguins and working to address the threats they face, from marine plastic pollution to climate change. University of Central Florida (UCF) Research Foundation – Oysters, Endangered Birds, and Children: The UCF Research Foundation is helping advance science and engage communities in the restoration of oyster reefs in the Indian River Lagoon in Florida, supporting other species like wading birds. The program also works with Nemours Children’s Hospital in Orlando, Florida engaging kids as citizen-scientists, having them help to identify birds from remote wildlife cameras.In addition, we are continuing to advance conservation collaborations through our Saving Wildlife work, whichdrives comprehensive strategies aimed at reversing the decline of butterflies, coral reefs, cranes, elephants, gorillas, monkeys, rhinos, sea turtles, sharks and rays, as well as tigers. These programs are helping to bring back species by addressing threats and empowering communities in important ecosystems from California to Brazil and Kenya to China, among other regions. One reason we adore Halloween at Disney World is that we start seeing a lot of love for Disney villains in the parks! We’ve seen awesome villain spirit jerseys, villains stickers, and even villains fans! And we LOVE the new Villains Cavalcades!!! The Evil Queen Right now, we are ALL ABOUT THE BAD GUYS AND GALS of Disney! And we just spotted a new VILLAINOUS item in the parks! We were just perusing the goods at Frontier Trading Post at Magic Kingdom when we came across a gorgeous Limited Edition Disney Villains Pin Set! No matter how many times you’ve been to Disney World, it seems there’s always something new to enjoy! Disney’s Animal Kingdom Currently, we’ve been sampling all kinds of Halloween treats and finding LOADS of new Minnie ears. Today, we thought it’d be a perfect day to take a trip around Disney’s Animal Kingdom to see what new things we could spot there. Come along with us! Animal Kingdom Merchandise Updates Discovery Trading Company Our first stop of the day was at Discovery Trading Company, which is located in Discovery Island. Discovery Trading Company There, we spotted a new Doctor Pete’s Grape Soda shirt inspired by Pixar’s Up! Grape Soda Shirt! We love the design on this shirt and how the purple really pops against the gray background. It’s a nice way to showcase your love for Up in a subtle way that really only fellow fans with recognize. Grape Soda Shirt This shirt was $24.99. But, that Grape Soda Shirt wasn’t the only Disney t-shirt we spotted. There were LOTS of Disney t-shirts available at Discovery Trading Company. There Are So Many Disney T-Shirts! They were also running a special where you can get Adult t-shirts for $22 each when you buy two. T-Shirt Sale If you’re stocking up on Disney tees for yourself and the family, be on the lookout for this special deal around Disney World. Animal Kingdom Food Updates Zuri’s Sweets Shop Zuri’s Sweets Shop is located in Africa in Animal Kingdom and is full of delicious and unique treats. During our most recent visit, we saw that lots of Halloween treats were available at this spot. Zuri’s Sweets Shop You could even snag a piece of that NEW Pumpkin Pie Rice Krispies Treat! Pumpkin Pie Rice Krispies Treat We found the first Halloween popcorn bucket of the season in Animal Kingdom, and we’ve seen some spooktacular snacks here already, so we were excited to see even more Halloween fun in this park. Dawa Bar Also in Africa is Dawa Bar. Just a few days ago, we shared that Dawa Bar had reopened over the weekend. When we stopped by on Tuesday, this spot, however, was closed. Dawa Bar We spoke to a Cast Member who kindly let us know that Dawa Bar should be open Thursdays through Mondays. Dawa Bar So, if grabbing a drink from this spot is a must-do for you, be sure to plan your trip accordingly! Thirsty River Bar & Trek Snacks We had a similar experience over at Thirsty River Bar & Trek Snacks. This spot reopened over the weekend, but when we visited on Tuesday it was closed. Thirsty River Bar and Trek Snacks We spoke with a Cast Member who told us this location should be open on Saturdays and Sundays for now. We’ll keep checking back to see if this spot opens up on any other days. Flame Tree Barbecue Back in the Discovery Island portion of the park, we stopped by Flame Tree Barbecue. While we didn’t spot anything new on the menu, we did see that there were some new signs in the area that include pictures and descriptions of the items available. Flame Tree Barbecue We thought this was a great addition, as it will let guests get a clearer picture of what they’re ordering. It’s slightly dangerous for us though…just looking at those photos makes us hungry! Flame Tree Barbecue We also found a Halloween favorite at Flame Tree Barbecue — Halloween drink cups! Halloween Cup! When we were there, they only had them in stock for large fountain beverages though so be sure to ask what they have available. We love all the little candy and Mickey designs on it! Halloween Cup Sometimes there’s just nothing better than enjoying a cool, refreshing drink from a cup that has an adorable Mickey jack-o’-lantern on it. It really gets us in the spooky spirit! Pongu Pongu No trip to Animal Kingdom is complete, however, without at least a walk past the floating mountains in Pandora — The World of Avatar. While we were admiring all of the beautiful scenery, we noticed a new queue had been created out of tape for guests wanting to grab a Night Blossom or other snack at Pongu Pongu. Pongu Pongu There was also a Cast Member holding an “End of Line” sign and directing guests within the queue. Pongu Pongu End of Line Sign So, if you’re hopping in line to grab a Pongu Lumpia, be sure to watch for the Cast Members’ directions. Safari Time! We couldn’t take you on a trip to Disney’s Animal Kingdom without a few animals! When we hopped on Kilimanjaro Safaris this trip, we spotted some Ankole Cattle… Ankole Cattle …as well as a beautiful Giraffe. Giraffe! As we made our way around Animal Kingdom, we also spotted a majestic Gorilla sitting by a gorgeous waterfall. Gorilla Beside a Waterfall It really was a beautiful sight to behold. Marvel’s new Black Widow movie was originally set to be released earlier this year, but was ultimately pushed back to a November release date due to the global pandemic. ©Marvel But, now, we’ve heard word that the movie will be even further delayed. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the release date for Black Widow is being pushed from November of 2020 all the way to May 7th, 2021! ©Walt Disney Studios The release date for another Marvel movie — The Eternals — is also being pushed back. Previously, the movie was set to debut on February 12th, 2021. Now, fans will have to wait until November 5th, 2021 to see The Eternals, according to The Hollywood Reporter. ©Walt Disney Studios One movie that appears to be maintaining its scheduled release date, for now, is Pixar’s Soul. The movie is currently scheduled to be released on November 20th, 2020. Well, we were in for a glorious surprise today! Cinderella’s Royal Table As you might have heard, Cinderella’s Royal Table is set to reopen in Magic Kingdom tomorrow. Well, you can imagine our surprise when it soft-opened TODAY. And with a 5 MINUTE wait at that, which is shocking if you know how in demand this place tends to be. Of course, we got ourselves a table — and you’ll never believe WHO we saw! As we were enjoying the ambiance of Cinderella Castle and getting ready to dine on some hopefully-yummy food, some royal music began playing and a familiar figure in a swishy blue dress strolled into the dining room. Cinderella! Yes! It’s Cinderella, herself! When Cinderella’s Royal Table announced its reopening, they noted that there would be NO character interactions during the dining experience (which made us a little skeptical of the still-too-high cost). After seeing Beast make surprise appearances when Be Our Guests reopened, we thought Disney might try to do something similar at Cinderella’s Royal Table. But, honestly, we weren’t too sure if Cinderella would make an appearance since the princesses do not wear masks and Disney has ensured that they keep a substantial distance from each other and guests. Cinderella! But she did show up to surprise us all!! Now, Cindy’s appearance was pretty brief. She simply strolled in at a distance from guests, gave us a twirl, waved, and continued on her way. We did not have the opportunity to greet her or take photos with her. But still, it was a nice little surprise! And it made the hefty price tag of this meal feel a (little) better. Although several restaurants around Disney World are still closed, quite a few have started to reopen recently. Cinderella Castle Today, another restaurant officially reopened, this time in Magic Kingdom, a whole day earlier than it was originally scheduled to! Not too long ago, we shared that Cinderella’s Royal Table would be reopening soon in Magic Kingdom. Well, if you’re looking to dine like royalty, your day has finally arrived…a little bit early! Cinderella’s Royal Table was scheduled to reopen on September 24th, but it actually reopened today — one day early! Cinderella’s Royal Table We spotted social distancing markers in various areas throughout the waiting area outside, indicating where guests could stand while they were waiting to be called in to the restaurant. Cinderella’s Royal Table There was also a sign directing guests to scan a QR code to check in for their dining reservation or check reservation availability. Cinderella’s Royal Table We were able to join the Walk-Up Waitlist at this location by going to that feature on the My Disney Experience app and the estimated wait was only 5 minutes!
