  1. Sooo… do you remember last month when a new dining feature made its debut on the My Disney Experience app for Walt Disney World guests? Inside the Grand Floridian Cafe The new Mobile Dine Walk-up Waitlist feature allows guests to view Table Service restaurants that have available seating for walk-up guests with a tap on their phone. You can check out how the whole process works here. But today, we just wanted to pop in and let you know of a newly reopened restaurant that’s now offering the Walk-up Waitlist option. Narcoossee’s — a signature dining restaurant in Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort — is now available on the Walk-up Waitlist feature to check for dining availability! Entrance to Narcoossee’s Narcoossee’s just reopened to guests last night ahead of the Resort’s reopening today. (While The Villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa and other areas at the Resort such as the Grand Floridian Cafe and Gasparilla Island Grill reopened in July, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa itself is welcoming guests again today.) Seating inside Narcoossee’s The addition of Narcoossee’s brings the total number of restaurants offering the Walk-up Waitlist option to twenty-nine, and you can see the full list here. But first, a friendly reminder: if a restaurant you’re interested in isn’t listed on the feature, you can always check with a Cast Member to see if a location is currently accepting walk-up guests. Click here to learn more about the new Mobile Dine Walk-up Waitlist! And did you know ANOTHER new option showed up on the My Disney Experience app just last week? That’s right… Mobile Dine Table Service To Go allows guests to pre-order food and beverage to go from participating Table Service restaurants. Find out more about THIS new feature here! 3. Since the launch of Disney+, we’ve enjoyed so much original content on the streaming service including The Mandalorian (we cannot wait for Season 2!!), Howard: The Howard Ashman Story, and lots more. ©Disney | Marvel Studios During the 72nd Primetime Emmy Awards this year, we finally got to see a trailer for another new original series coming soon to Disney+ — Marvel Studios’ WandaVision. WandaVision is set to premiere on Disney+ in late 2020. It will actually be the first series from Marvel Studios streaming exclusively on Disney+. ©Disney | Marvel Studios The series stars Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch and Paul Bettany as Vision. ©Disney | Marvel Studios According to Disney, in the series, Wanda and Vision are “two super-powered beings living idealized suburban lives” who “begin to suspect that everything is not as it seems.” Check out the new trailer below! It definitely seems like a unique mix of a classic television show (we love some of that black-and-white style) and the exciting adventures of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. 4. We’re starting to see a bit of an uptick when it comes to crowds in Disney World. Magic Kingdom Since the parks reopened in July, Disney has been implementing the new Disney Park Pass theme park reservation system to manage the limited capacity in the theme parks. It wasn’t until this month that we saw dates getting fully booked up, and now, this weekend is following suit! We were checking in on Disney Park Pass availability this morning when we noticed that September 26th is greyed out for every ticket category. This means that there are no parks available this Saturday, no matter your ticket type. DPP Screenshot This month has seen a few completely sold out days in the parks and we’ve done some reporting on what crowds look like on a full day. It’s still pretty far from a busy day pre-closure, but you’re going to see a LOT more people than we did when the parks first reopened. DPP Screenshot As a note, reservations for Annual Passholders are completely unavailable for the whole weekend. In the past, we have seen Disney Park Passes become available after being booked up, so we’ll keep an eye out for that. DPP Screenshot As always, stay tuned to DFB for the latest updates about theme park availability! Click here for the FULL breakdown of the Disney Park Pass System! 8. If you’re headed to Disney World soon, one of the things that could potentially derail your trip is the availability of Park Pass reservations. Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge We’ve seen Park Pass reservations filling up for holidays like Halloween, and it looks like reservations for Thanksgiving time are starting to fill up as well. Well, if you wanted to spend Thanksgiving day in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disney’s Hollywood Studios and you don’t already have a Park Pass reservation, you may be in a tough spot. Since the reopening, Disney World has utilized a Park Pass reservation system to limit guest capacity in the parks and promote social distancing. Under this new system, in order to visit a theme park in Disney World, you must have a valid theme park admission for the park you want to visit on the day you wish to visit as well as a Park Pass reservation for the theme park and day you’ll be visiting. Disney Park Pass Screenshot We’ve seen Park Pass availability change quite a bit over the last few months, and Park Pass reservations have been filling up for major holidays and holiday weekends. Earlier, we shared that Park Pass reservations were filling up quickly for Thanksgiving week. Hollywood Studios Today, we spotted another update. Park Pass reservations for Disney’s Hollywood Studios are currently unavailable for Thanksgiving day — November 26th — for Theme Park Tickets Guests… Screenshot from Disney Park Pass Availability Calendar — Theme Park Tickets Guests …and Disney Resort Guests. Screenshot from Disney Park Pass Availability Calendar — Disney Resort Guests In fact, Park Pass reservations for Disney’s Hollywood Studios appear to be currently unavailable from November 22nd through November 27th for Theme Park Tickets Guests and Disney Resort Guests. Screenshot from Disney Park Pass Availability Calendar — Theme Park Tickets Guests Currently, however, the calendar shows full availability at all four parks for Annual Passholders on Thanksgiving Day. Screenshot from Disney Park Pass Availability Calendar — Annual Passholders On November 22nd and 28th, however, Park Passes for Hollywood Studios for Annual Passholders appear to be currently unavailable. Screenshot from Disney Park Pass Availability Calendar — Annual Passholders Of course, all of this is subject to change in the future. If you’re looking to go to Disney World during Thanksgiving time, or during any major holiday, we highly recommend you book your Park Passes as soon as possible so you can hopefully get a reservation at the park you’re wanting to visit. We’ve seen Park Pass availability change quite a bit in the past even for holidays, like Labor Day, so we’ll definitely be keeping an eye on the Park Pass availability calendar and we’ll let you know of any major changes. 17. Hello, DFB Friends! We’re back with loads more coverage from your favorite non-park Disney fix — Disney Springs! Fall Photo Op We’ve found loads of new stuff, so let’s get started, shall we? Disney Springs Food Updates Amorette’s Patisserie Welcomes Minnie! We had the chance to try out the Pumpkin Minnie Mousse Cake from Amorette’s Patisserie for $9. We loved her sweet little chocolate ears and candy corn bow! Inside, though, is the good stuff: a pumpkin and marshmallow mousse, which sits atop a layer of carrot cake! YEAH! Tucked deep inside were salted caramel candy pearls! Halloween Minnie Mousse We liked it, although it was SUPER SWEET and we thought the layer of carrot cake was a little too thin. See what we thought of the Pumpkin Minnie Mousse Cake here Gideon’s Bakehouse Takes One Step Closer To Opening Day We’ve been paying close attention to the construction progress of the Gideon’s Bakehouse shop! We’re ready for some cookies, y’all! And we found a new sign at the Disney Springs location! Gideon’s Bakehouse With Its New Sign Cookies, Cakes, and Curiosities?! WE ARE READY. Read our interview with Gideon’s Bakehouse’s owner! Goofy’s Candy Co. Has New Treats! We went to Goofy’s Candy Co. and we saw ALL THE AWESOME HALLOWEEN TREATS! First there was an entire Pumpkin Pie Made of Rice Krispies. WHAT? You can get a slice for $5.49. And get this — it’s actually pumpkin-spice flavored, although we found that it made the treat taste a little strange (which is odd because we LOVE pumpkin spice). However, we actually wanted more marshmallow flavor. Pumpkin Pie Rice Krispies Treat Then there was the Mickey Jack-o’-Lantern Rice Krispie Treat for $5.49. It was so adorable that we couldn’t resist getting one for ourselves. Like the pie, it’s pumpkin-spiced flavored and features some chocolate on Mickey’s ears and face. We thought it was just okay, but it might be a fun treat for the kids! Mickey Jack-o’-Lantern Rice Krispies Treat SPOOOOOKKKYYY!!!! This Spider Web Cookie was super creepy, but also HUGE! 19. What’s this? It’s Halloween season! And that means it’s the season of spooky Halloween decorations, amazing food and drinks, and multiple viewings of The Nightmare Before Christmas! Nightmare Before Christmas Plush And we’ve just discovered some figures that have us singing “This is Halloween!” We found these figures at The Art of Disney in Magic Kingdom. The Sandy Claws figure is BRAND NEW. It features Jack dressed up as Sandy Claws with a bag of gifts. He’s handing a present to a child beside a Christmas tree. Um…kid…you probably shouldn’t open that! There’s probably a snake — or something worse — inside! Jack as Santa Figure from The Art of Disney The level of detail is gorgeous! We love Jack’s joyful face (and that textured Sandy Claws beard) as he gets to take over a holiday other than his usual Halloween. Even the detail on the gift packaging is perfect. This figure, which costs $140, might make for a nice collector’s item for Nightmare Before Christmas fans. Jack as Sandy Claws Figure at The Art of Disney We also spotted this PRECIOUS Jack and Sally Figure. This figure was available last year, and now it’s back for $140.00. The details on it are also really nice, especially with Jack and Sally’s outfits. We also like the pumpkins encircling the base of the figure. (Also, ignore that knife — that’s not Sally trying to behead Jack, but a figure in the background!) Jack and Sally from Nighmare Before Christmas Figure Both of these figures would make a nice addition to anyone’s Halloween decor this year. But we think they’re nice enough to leave up all year round, too! We’ll keep an eye out for more NIGHTMARE-ISH (see what we did there?) decor in the parks and let you know what we find! And, while Disney has prioritized a few of its projects and quietly moved forward with new ones, we’re keeping an eye on the construction happening in EPCOT right now! EPCOT Transformation Previously, spots like the Electric Umbrella and Fountain View Cafe closed down to make room for a redesigned entrance of the parks. Even though not every project has seen much progress… EPCOT Transformation …other attractions like the Guardians of the Galaxy coaster are pushing forward for their hopeful 2021 debut. Guardians of the Galaxy Construction Since Mouse Gear is getting a new look right now, the old location is closed off while construction continues on the shop (but there’s a cute li’l playground right outside)… Mouse Gear Playground …but we can’t wait to see the new store that Disney brings to life as part of the EPCOT Transformation! 21. With crowds increasing over the past few weeks in Disney World, we’ve been hearing from readers how much they hope FastPass+ returns in the coming months. And today we got a little surprise! FastPass Mention on Disney World website — Screenshot 9-20-20 A page popped up on DisneyWorld.com discussing guests using FastPass+ for their trips in January and February. And you may have seen several reports that it meant FastPass+ was returning in just a few months. FastPass mention on Disney World website — screen shot 9-20-20 But we want to clear up any confusion. This page may have been put up in error. Or it possibly may not yet have been updated with 2021 information. But there are several things that show this content is from 2019. First, the page references the annual “Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival” as “returning in spring 2020.” These days, Epcot has returned to its original EPCOT, and is noted as so on all official Disney communication. And obviously an event can’t “return in spring 2020” any longer. So that language is clearly from last year. Screen Shot by DFB 9-20-20 The page also currently talks about Happily Ever After, a fireworks show not currently happening in Magic Kingdom, as well as spa treatments and other events and options that currently aren’t on offer in Disney World. Screen Shot by DFB 9-20-20 Finally, the photos used here have guests not wearing face masks. All of Disney’s current marketing materials show guests in masks, so this would be off-brand unless masks were suddenly not going to be required in the new year. It’s our guess that this page was re-added to the Disney World website because it’s going to be edited and changed according to the options on offer for this coming New Year, but that the current information on the page is from 2019. Does this mean that FastPass+ isn’t coming back in January — or before January for that matter? Not necessarily. We don’t have any confirmation in any direction about when/if FastPass+ will return to the parks. It could return next week, next month, or next year. What we do believe is that this particular page is showing erroneous content for this current date, and that it will be either taken down or updated accordingly. As always, stay tuned to Disney Food Blog and join our newsletter to get all the news and updates as soon as they’re confirmed. 23. We all have our own favorite forms of Disney Transportation that are a must-do during our trip to Disney World. But, Disney also has such a beautiful atmosphere filled with trees, lagoons, and flowers that we LOVE taking the time to walk around the property. Grand Floridian Resort And we’re getting closer and closer to being able to combine a fun ramble around the property with transporting ourselves to Magic Kingdom via the Grand Floridian Walkway! The new pathway will allow guests to walk straight from the Grand Floridian to the Magic Kingdom’s entrance on a special direct path. As we’ve kept an eye on construction, we’ve seen Disney get closer and closer to opening this high anticipated sidewalk! On our way to the Magic Kingdom today to catch all the spooky entertainment and treats, we spotted the newly paved sidewalk that guests will use from the Grand Floridian to the Magic Kingdom. Grand Floridian Walkway to Magic Kingdom It appears that the sidewalk will lead guests to the area where people enter and exit the Monorails before they reach the entrance to the park. The sidewalk is yet another recent indicator that this walkway may be opening soon — along with signage right outside of the Magic Kingdom. Grand Floridian Walkway to Magic Kingdom The tent is likely a security and temperature checkpoint for guests headed into the Magic Kingdom. 24. We hope you’ve got your trekking shoes on because we’re taking you with us on a trip all the way to Africa in Disney’s Animal Kingdom! Africa in Disney’s Animal Kingdom A few days ago, we noticed some signs that several bars around Disney World might be preparing to reopen. And just like that, Dawa Bar has now reopened in Animal Kingdom! Come take a (virtual) tour of one of our favorite places to relax, soak up the atmosphere, and enjoy a delicious drink! Guests will find Dawa Bar right in the middle of the hustle and bustle of Harambe Village in the Africa section of Animal Kingdom. Dawa Bar Dawa Bar officially reopened on Saturday, and it looks like a lot of guests were ready to make their return — there was a 30-35 minute wait when we stopped by! Dawa Bar Line The line for Dawa Bar has distancing markers to indicate where guests should stand, and there are taped-off areas to show the empty space that should be left between line switch-backs. There was also a Cast Member managing the line. Dawa Bar Line Here’s a look at the layout of the tables inside the open-air bar. Dawa Bar The Cast Member we spoke with said they only have lime garnishes at the moment, but they are offering the same menu as before! Dawa Bar Menu There are plexiglass dividers in some areas around the bar. Dawa Bar According to a Cast Member, Dawa Bar is only open from 11AM-3:30PM today. The location is starting with limited operating hours on the weekend, and they plan to adjust with time. Dawa Bar And since we stopped by, we figured we might as well grab a drink! We ordered the Ngumu Jungle Juice which is made with Snow Leopard Vodka, Bols Peach Schnapps, and Tusker’s famous Jungle Juice — also known as the famous POG Juice, made with a mix of passionfruit, orange, and guava juices! Ngumu Jungle Juice This drink was super refreshing and since it’s made with the classic Disney POG Juice, it brought back lots of happy memories! Ngumu Jungle Juice The Snow Leopard Vodka used in the Ngumu Jungle Juice is also available in other drinks around Animal Kingdom, including the Himalayan Ghost at Thirsty River Bar! Ngumu Jungle Juice If you’re looking for a refreshing cocktail with a classic Disney flavor, the Ngumu Jungle Juice is a great option! You can snag this drink for $13. Ngumu Jungle Juice With our first visit to the reopened Dawa Bar in the books, we’re off to see what else is new around Disney’s Animal Kingdom! Cheers! 25. The Disney World Halloween treats just keep coming! Between the deliciously spooky cocktails, nachos, and cupcakes, Halloween season is really rocking and rolling in Disney World! Mickey Jack-o’-Lantern Rice Krispies Treat Speaking of cupcakes, a couple of new Halloween treats caught our eye at Capt. Cook’s in Disney’s Polynesian Village resort. (And we mean that literally, because there’s one treat that actually makes eye contact with you!) Between white chocolate eyeballs and glitter, the new cupcakes at Capt. Cook’s have “Halloween” frosted all over them! Halloween Cupcakes at Capt. Cook’s If you want to know more about that adorable Mike Wazowski Dome Cake, check out our full review right here! But the more glittery of the two treats was this Minnie Witch Halloween Cupcake With Rocky Road filling, which comes with a few TRICKS of its own! Halloween Cupcake With Rocky Road This is a rich chocolate cake with a milk chocolate-macadamia nut “rocky road” filling (totally remembering that amazing chocolate macadamia nut cupcake from many moons ago!), and it’s stacked with beautiful layers of buttercream in Minnie Witch Wardrobe colors like orange, green, and purple! Rocky Road Filling On top you’ll find Minnie’s ears and bow in a spellbinding purple white chocolate! But best of all: it shimmers! That’s right, the cupcake comes with GLITTER! Halloween Cupcake With Rocky Road There are also crunchy little sugar sprinkles in the shape of teeny bats and ghosts! These cupcakes are CLEARLY ready to dress up for Halloween.
