  1. So, here’s the thing — we’re in Disney World every day. Yes, LITERALLY every day. Now, we’re not in every single park each day, but yes, we step onto resort property every day, and that means we sometimes see some…interesting things. Discovery Trading Company While Disney’s Animal Kingdom is usually the most chill park, where we go for some relaxation (especially if we’re heading to Nomad Lounge), and while that’s still partly true, all the construction around does put a bit of a damper on that. We’re also wondering if that’s why something VERY interesting was forgotten inside a prominent shopping spot inside the park, because otherwise…this is bugging us more than it should. While we were walking through Discovery Trading Co. at the front of the park, we came across a big section of pastel shirts, which are perfect for spring! We browsed them, seeing if anything would catch our eye, and we’d ultimately return after our work hours to purchase it and bring it home, but instead, we spotted something very out of place. A Christmas shirt…in April Yep, that’s a Christmas shirt on the racks…in APRIL. It was in with the other pastel shirts, as if Disney was trying to convince people it could also be fit for spring. The worst part, though, is that it’s not on sale in the slightest, meaning that Disney is asking you to pay full price for a shirt that’s entirely out of season, and has been for four months. Discovery Trading Co. We’ve gotta admit, this isn’t something we normally see, so we do wonder if this shirt was accidentally forgotten, and was meant to be taken off the shelves months ago, but it genuinely DOES blend in with the other pastel shirts. Or, if it was on purpose, we don’t know how successful their plan has been so far. More Recent Animal Kingdom News! 4. Okay, so this post is for carnivores, and carnivores only. Let’s eat some MEAT Now, if you love meat, there are a lot of ways to grab some meaty snacks in Disney World. You could opt for a turkey leg (and if you do, we’ll try not to judge you). Or you could grab a hamburger at one of our favorite hotel restaurants. But if you’re craving even MORE meat, we’ll just tell you now that you need to head to Disney Springs. If you haven’t ever been to The Polite Pig, we’re just going to tell you that if you love smoked meats and meat-based menu items, this is THE place to visit. Well, every month, The Polite Pig has a chef’s special, and this month, the special is a Spicy Peach-Glazed Pork Shank for $26. The pork shank is slow-cooked and coated in a peach glaze with a spicy kick and served with black-eyed peas. The first thing you’re going to notice is just how HUGE this thing is. It’s a lot of meat. Spicy Peach-Glazed Pork Shank Let’s talk about flavor, though. The outside has a lovely charred crustiness to it that’s spicy and sweet. Now, we will say the sweetness didn’t taste like peach, and the spiciness comes from the dry rub. However, the flavors work well together, and unlike a BBQ sauce, it’s not slathered in sauce, so it’s not so messy to eat. The pork under that crust was cooked perfectly. It was also tender and SO easy to nom on. The black-eyed peas were also good, but the star of this dish is the meat, and we’re not mad about it. So tender The only thing we want to stress is that it is $26 for this big hunk of meat. Is it worth it? Well, you’d have to decide for yourself, but we are considering getting it again. We’ll keep trying new food in Disney World, so stay tuned to DFB for more. Okay, it’s HARD trying to pick which Disney World restaurants you want to eat at. 6. While Disney World is best known for world-class attractions, food, and hotels, the heart and soul of the resort has always been — and will always be — its Cast Members. They make the magic after all. Cast Members According to the Cast Members on our team, there are multiple things the former CMs on our team wish guests would know BEFORE their next trip to the “Most Magical Place on Earth. “You’re Not Going to be Able to Do EVERYTHING” No matter how much you plan, book, reserve, and time out, you won’t be able to do EVERY single thing at the resort — with its 4 theme parks, 2 water parks, 25+ hotels, shopping district, mini-golf courses, and more — over the course of one standard Walt Disney World vacation. Instead of trying, make some time for yourself to take it all in, and maybe even relax on your vacation. Fantasia Mini Golf Course “Not Every Cast Member Has 100% Up-To-Date Information.” While Cast Members around the resort will surely be willing to help you, not every Cast Member is going to know everything that is happening at any given moment, nor about upcoming projects. After all, things at the resort can change daily for a litany of reasons, and sometimes — with as frequently as Disney drops news — things can be a lot to keep up with, especially if your question doesn’t directly apply to their role. ©Bioreconstruct on Instagram “Cast Members WANT to Help You, Don’t be Rude to Them” While they might not know everything, pretty much every Disney World Cast Member is going to want to help you as best they can. However, sometimes there’s nothing they can do. Please keep in mind, as frustrating as a “no” might be, no Cast Member is purposely trying to ruin your day, so please don’t be rude or take it out on them. Cast Member “You Don’t Have to Overspend” Look, it’s no secret that a Disney World vacation is a huge expense. However, you don’t need to go financially BIG with everything, nor have the fanciest meals, Lightning Lanes, or the largest hotel room to have a great time. For example, you can always opt for quick service meals or bring your own food into the park. Depending on your plans, you likely won’t even spend that much time at your hotel, and you can always resort hop to other hotels to explore. You can prioritize rides and spend time exploring the parks, versus feeling like you have to ride every attraction. As hard as it might be, you don’t have to spend hundreds on Disney merchandise, either, instead sticking to a souvenir budget. Which leads to: Pop Century Hotel “There Isn’t ONE Right Way to Do Disney” While there’s plenty of advice out there — including our own here at DFB, like our restaurant guide, which breaks down every eatery on Disney property — the reality is that every Disney World guest is different. Not everyone needs to rope drop the same park, ride the same attractions, eat at the same restaurants, or buy the same merchandise. Of course, you should do your research and stay informed and be prepared, but never feel pressured to do anything but what you WANT to do at Disney World. Happily Ever After Next time you’re making your way to the “Most Magical Place on Earth”, make sure to keep this advice from Disney World Cast Members in mind, and stay tuned to DFB for more tips. 7. Disney World is filled with so many dining spots, but a handful of them will be a lot harder to book this summer! Breakfast at Crystal Palace Summer is just around the corner, which means V.I.PASSHOLDER days are almost here at Disney World! One of the perks Disney revealed for the event is an increased dining discount at select restaurants for Disney World Annual Passholders. Whether you’re an Annual Passholder or you’re just visiting the parks this summer, if you’re interested in dining at any of these 12 restaurants during your vacation, you’ll need to book them sooner rather than later, because they’re going to be difficult to get! The agents at Small World Vacations know how to save money on your Disney Vacation! When you book your trip with Small World Vacations, their experienced agents monitor your reservation for possible future savings. They also compare discounts and figure out which one works best for your travel party, dates, resort, and touring plans. And they share expert tips and first-hand advice with you about your magical vacation. There’s a new dining discount coming for Disney World Annual Passholders that can save them up to 40% at select restaurants around Disney World! The offer will only be here for a limited time this summer, during V.I.PASSHOLDER Summer Days. Coral Reef The dining discount is a massive increase from the everyday discount available to passholders at select restaurants year-round. You know what that means — these 12 restaurants are going to be BUSY all summer long! Here is the list of the 12 restaurants you’ll want to book way in advance if you’re interested in dining there this summer: Passholders save 20% Be Our Guest Restaurant (lunch only) The Crystal Palace (lunch and dinner) Passholders save 40% Biergarten Restaurant (lunch only) Coral Reef Restaurant (dinner only) Garden Grill Restaurant (lunch and dinner) Hollywood & Vine (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) Tiffins Restaurant (dinner only) Tusker House Restaurant (lunch and dinner) Boatwright’s Dining Hall (dinner only) Cape May Cafe (dinner only) Toledo – Tapas, Steak & Seafood (dinner) Whispering Canyon Cafe (brunch and dinner) Garden Grill All 12 of those restaurants will be busy all summer long, but we’d specifically pay attention to Be Our Guest, Crystal Palace, Biergarten Restaurant, and Garden Grill Restaurant. The reason for that is that those four dining spots are new to the V.I.PASSHOLDER Summer Days dining discount this year. Let’s eat in the Beast’s castle The Passholder discount will only be available Monday to Thursday, so you won’t be able to use it on the weekends. We’d start making reservations right now, as the discount becomes available starting May 1st, and goes through to July 31st, 2026. Our whole meal at Whispering Canyon The discount will be applied to the regular price of food and nonalcoholic beverages (excluding applicable tax and gratuity). Discounts may not be valid on certain menu items and may not be combined with any other discount, offer, or promotion. The discount also excludes special events and dining packages. Inside the dining room at Hollywood and Vine If you’re making a reservation at any of these restaurants and you’re NOT an Annual Passholder, pay attention to the time of day you’re booking. Some restaurants only offer the discount to Passholders during lunch, some during dinner, and others all day. Book at a time when the discount wouldn’t apply — it’ll be easier and less busy. You could also target Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, since the discount doesn’t work on those days. Tiffins This dining discount is definitely one you’ll want to take advantage of this summer, so make sure to book, and book NOW! For more Disney news and updates, follow us at the Disney Food Blog. 8. There are some Disney World lounges you visit because they’re convenient, and then there are the ones you visit because they make you feel like you’ve accidentally wandered into the much cooler, much better-dressed version of your vacation. Barcelona Lounge Barcelona Lounge is the second one. Atmosphere Barcelona Lounge feels grown-up without being stuffy, which is a hard trick to pull off at Disney World. Some lounges go too dim, too serious, too “please whisper near the imported bottles.” Not this one. Inside Gran Destino Tower This spot has personality. It has style. It has the kind of energy that makes you sit up a little straighter when your drink arrives, like suddenly you are a person who says things like, “I’m really getting elderflower on the finish.” The space is polished and vibrant, with that striking stained-glass wall, colorful details, and a patio overlooking Lago Dorado. It feels transportive without trying too hard, and that’s part of the magic. Tables with chairs It also benefits from being in Gran Destino Tower, which is just one of the prettiest resort spaces at Disney World. The whole tower has that glossy, elevated, “did we accidentally book somewhere fancy?” energy that makes even a casual lounge stop feel like a little occasion. This is not the place for inhaling a quick drink while checking Lightning Lane return times with one eye twitching. This is the place to settle in, sip slowly, and pretend for one glorious hour that you are the kind of person who has no unread emails. Coronado Springs Menu The fun of Barcelona Lounge is that it isn’t just doing one thing. By morning, it’s serving coffee drinks, pastries, and breakfast items. By evening, it pivots into a cocktail bar with Spanish-inspired offerings, beer, wine, and light bites. It is known for its focus on artisanal cocktails and the Spanish love for gin. And the current menu backs that up with a lineup that includes a Build-Your-Own Gin Tonic, a signature Gran Gin Tonic, sangria options, cocktails like the Tini Sucio and The Armada, plus a handful of snacks and appetizers. ©Disney That’s part of what makes this lounge so charming. It’s not trying to be a full sit-down dinner destination. It knows exactly what it is: a beautiful place to post up with a smart drink and a little something to nibble on while you bask in the Coronado Springs glow. ©Disney And that is a noble purpose. Drinks Let’s start with the Build Your Own Gin Tonic, because this is where Barcelona Lounge really struts. This drink is $18.50, and the setup is half the fun. You choose from different tonic profiles, and the menu even suggests which gins pair best with each one. Options currently include Mediterranean, Bitter Lemon, Light Cucumber, and Elderflower tonic. The Elderflower Tonic is recommended with fresh and floral gins, which is exactly the route we took. Gin Tonic Now, full disclosure: I am a cocktail person through and through, but bourbon is my first love. Gin is not automatically my default. So when I say this worked for me, that means something. For this one, the elderflower tonic was paired with Bombay Sapphire based on the bartender’s recommendation for something drier that would still play nicely with the sweeter, more floral profile. The result was a drink that felt light, a little sweet, citrusy, and very refreshing. There was a floral quality from the elderflower and the botanicals in the gin, but it didn’t go so perfume-y that it lost the plot. With lime in the mix, it landed almost like a slightly more sophisticated, grown-up citrus soda situation. Not a chugger, but absolutely a slow-sipper in the best sense. And for someone who doesn’t usually reach for gin first, this was a happy surprise and an easy reorder. Gin Tonic That’s what I love about this drink concept. It makes gin feel approachable. It’s a little interactive, a little elevated, and a lot more fun than just pointing at a generic cocktail menu and saying, “Sure, I’ll take whatever doesn’t taste like regret.” Ain’t she a beaut? If you’re a cocktail nerd, this is your playground. If you’re gin-curious but not fully committed, this is also your playground. Basically: a playground, but for adults with excellent taste and a hotel charge privilege. Eats Now let’s talk about A Taste of Barcelona, which is currently listed at $16 and comes with marinated Manchego, aceitunas, and Marcona almonds. In practice, this arrived as three small bowls: olives, almonds, and cheese. Simple. Snacky. Very much a “we are here to support the drinking experience” kind of plate, and honestly, sometimes that’s exactly what you want. Taste of Barcelona The olives were fine. Perfectly respectable. They had a little give, a little crunch, and did their job, but they weren’t the star of this show. Same with the almonds, though they came across better. They were salty, flavorful, and a little softer than your standard almond, which made them especially easy to keep reaching for between sips. The real winner here was the Manchego. Manchego The cheese was marinated in a bit of oil and had the tiniest touch of spice, which gave it just enough personality to stand out. But the secret weapon was the Spanish tort that the bartender suggested pairing with it. This is a big, thin cinnamon-sugar cracker you break apart and eat with the cheese. That sweet-savory combination? Excellent. The little bit of sweetness from the cracker with the saltier, richer cheese sounds like exactly the kind of pairing that makes you pause mid-bite and point at the plate like, “See? This. This is what I’m talking about.” Mixed Olives Would I call this the most generous appetizer at Disney World? No. It felt a little pricey for the amount of food. At $16, it’s not a huge spread, and if you go in expecting a hearty snack, you may give the plate a tiny side-eye. But as a little lounge nibble to share while drinking? It works. It’s not trying to be dinner. It’s trying to be a charming, Spanish-inspired prelude to another cocktail, and on that front, it succeeds. Nosh or Not This Disney World restaurant is a must-visit if… Barcelona Lounge is a great pick for the Disney World guest who loves a good atmosphere almost as much as a good drink. If you’re the type who enjoys resort hopping, elevated cocktails, stylish spaces, and snacks that feel a little more curated than chaotic, this is very much your scene. It’s especially worth a stop for cocktail fans, gin drinkers, and anyone who appreciates a lounge that feels polished without turning pretentious. This is the kind of place where you come to unwind, linger a bit, and feel like your Disney day just got upgraded. It’s also a smart choice for adults looking for a quieter date-night stop, a pre-dinner drink, or a relaxed evening away from the park crowds. And even if gin isn’t usually your first choice, the custom gin and tonic experience makes this a fun one for people who like trying something a little different without getting too far out over their skis. You should skip this Disney World spot if… You’re looking for a big, filling meal or the best food value on property. The bites here are more snack than feast, and while they pair nicely with the drinks, they’re not substantial enough to stand in for dinner unless you’re someone who considers three olives and a cocktail a full personality trait. If you’ve got picky eaters, kids who need familiar food, or travel companions who hear words like “Manchego,” “Marcona,” or “gin tonic” and immediately start looking for chicken tenders, this may not be the stop for your group. It’s also probably not the best use of your time if you want a high-energy bar, bold shareable plates, or something more convenient and central to the parks. In that case, this is less a must-do and more a “save it for a resort day” kind of spot. Overall Barcelona Lounge is proof that Disney World still has corners where you can slow down, sip something thoughtful, and feel like your vacation just got a little more glamorous. The Build Your Own Gin Tonic is clever, refreshing, and genuinely fun, especially if you like a drink that feels customized without becoming a whole chemistry exam. The elderflower version sounds bright, floral, and easy to love, even for someone who doesn’t normally wave the gin flag. And A Taste of Barcelona, while a bit pricey for the quantity, does exactly what a lounge snack should do: it gives you a salty-savory little sidekick for your cocktail, with the Manchego-and-torta pairing bringing the most memorable bite of the bunch. The Spread More than anything, though, this review is really my excuse to once again yell from the rooftops that Coronado Springs deserves better. Yes, it’s spread out. Yes, the transportation setup is less flashy than some other Disney resorts. But this place is beautiful, the dining scene is outrageously good, and Barcelona Lounge is one more reason to stop sleeping on it. Our Coaster Even if you don’t think of yourself as a gin person. Even if olives aren’t your soulmate. Even if you just want to sit somewhere lovely and pretend you’re in a more glamorous version of your own life for an hour. Go to Coronado. Go to Barcelona Lounge. Order something interesting. Fall in love with one of Disney World’s best-kept secrets. In the meantime, we’ll be on the lookout for more restaurant updates from Disney World and beyond. 11. We made our park reservations for Magic Kingdom on May 3rd, and you might want to do the same! Magic Kingdom Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin just reopened recently, and now we’re getting ready for another BIG reopening after a very…VERY long refurbishment. Magic Kingdom is going to be looking like itself again once May 3rd hits, and we seriously can’t wait! After being closed for refurbishment for over a year, we’re less than a month away from emarking back on the “wildest ride in the wilderness”. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad officially reopens on May 3rd, and as huge Big Thunder Mountain fans, that day can’t come soon enough. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad in Magic Kingdom The refurbished ride isn’t just going to feel a lot smoother, thanks to the new track that Disney Imagineering installed. The ride is also going to feature new updates, bringing a whole new look to the attraction. This will include new elements, theming, and feel to one of the park’s most beloved attractions. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad One of the things we’re most excited for when we ride the attraction is seeing the new scenes, such as the Rainbow Caverns. A “shimmering and illuminating iridescent” way to bring the mountain to life. We got concept art from Disney Imagineering when the ride closed, and to see it in person would be something else! ©Disney Another change coming to the attraction is actually the height requirement. Previously, the height requirement to ride was 40″, but apparently that is about to change, as Disney revealed they’re lowering the height requirement to 38″! This announcement was made after ride testing, and we’re so happy more kids get to ride. ©Disney This is just the beginning of a long construction process happening in Frontierland. Big Thunder Mountain is finally about to reopen, and then the focus will be shifted over to the brand-new Cars-themed land, Piston Peak. This will bring Magic Kingdom two new attractions and a whole new vibe. ©Disney Of course, beyond Big Thunder Mountain, we will also eventually start to see work on the new Villains Land coming to Magic Kingdom. We haven’t heard much, other than some speculation. However, once Big Thunder Mountain is complete, maybe we’ll start to get more information on the twisted land. Villains Land ©Disney Make sure to get your park reservations for May 3rd, so you don’t miss the big reopening at Magic Kingdom. Be aware, Disney could do a soft opening a little before the official opening date. It just happened with Buzz Lightyear, and it could happen with this ride. We’ll be keeping our eyes peeled, so make sure to follow us at the Disney Food Blog, and you won’t miss anything! 12. Who else is SO excited to step into the world of Monstropolis soon?? While we anxiously await its opening, we’re taking a closer look at everything we know about the new Monsters, Inc. land so far! Monstropolis Concept Art ©Disney In August 2024, Disney officially announced that a new Monsters, Inc.-themed land was coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Since then, we’ve learned more about Disney’s plans for Monstropolis and seen construction start to take shape. We can’t wait to finally step into the monster world ourselves, so let’s take a closer look at what’s happening with the development of the brand-new Monsters, Inc. land! Where Is Monstropolis? The Monsters, Inc. themed land will be taking over the Grand Avenue south side of Disney’s Hollywood Studios, which was the former location of Muppets Courtyard. Last year, Muppets Courtyard began to close in phases, and the final two areas, PizzeRizzo and Muppet*Vision 3D, closed in June 2025, making way for the Monsters, Inc. construction to begin. Construction for Monsters Inc. Land But, if you’re still mourning the loss of the Muppets, there is a silver lining — Disney is currently working on retheming Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, and a new version starring the Muppets will open in the summer of 2026! Muppet Paint Job outside of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster And, as bummed as we were to see Muppets Courtyard go, we have to admit that the details Disney has shared about Monstropolis have definitely got us excited enough to soften the blow! What’s Coming to Monstropolis? The story of Monsters, Inc. land will pick up where the 2001 movie left off. Disney has shared that, “you’ll be able to stroll the streets alongside some of your favorite monsters” and even visit the Laugh Factory! Concept Art on Monsters, Inc. Construction Walls One of the MAJOR highlights we’re looking forward to is the brand new Monsters, Inc. roller coaster, which will be Disney’s VERY FIRST suspended coaster! In describing the new coaster, Disney said, “You’ll be able to see the sights, hear the laughs and zoom through the building just like James P. Sullivan (a.k.a. Sulley) and Mike Wazowski — via a door!” ©Disney We even got a first look at the Imagineering model for the upcoming coaster at the D23 event, where the announcement was made, which had us IMMEDIATELY daydreaming about how cool this ride will be. Monsters, Inc roller coaster Since then, Imagineering has shared more glimpses at how the coaster will work, including a lifting mechanism that helps eliminate the need for a vertical hill, making it different from other coasters. ©Disney In addition to the new coaster, the land will also feature a new Monsters, Inc. theater show. Disney hasn’t yet revealed the storyline of the show or confirmed its location, but the concept art shows Muppet*Vision 3D Theater reimagined into “The Glob” theater — a play on the famous Globe Theatre. ©Disney And, while Disney hasn’t officially confirmed it yet, we spotted something else in the concept art that we REALLY hope is in the works! When zooming in, you can see the iconic eyeball sculpture that is in front of Harryhausen’s in the Monsters, Inc. movie. Harryhausen’s is the Japanese restaurant that Mike Wazowski takes Celia Mae out to for her birthday in the movie, and we SO hope that we’ll get the chance to dine there ourselves! ©Disney Again, Disney hasn’t officially confirmed that this restaurant will be coming to the new Monsters, Inc. Land, but the fact that it is in the concept art hints at the likely addition of Harryhausen’s in this new area. What Will Disney’s NEW Monsters, Inc. Roller Coaster Be Like? We Found Some CLUES Construction Progress Since construction on the Monsters, Inc. land began last year, we’ve been keeping an eye on the progress both from the park and via aerial photos shared by bioreconstruct on X. Construction Walls We’ve seen lots of work being done on the roller coaster. The coaster will be expanding into an area that was previously a Cast Member parking lot, and the shape of the building is starting to appear. ©bioreconstruct A closer look reveals just how BIG the footprint for the roller coaster building is! ©bioreconstruct We’ve also seen construction happening elsewhere, including in what used to be Gonzo’s Royal Flush, the bathroom next to PizzeRizzo… ©bioreconstruct …and on the former Italian restaurant, Mama Melrose’s. From what we can see, this work appears to be a retheming of the buildings and surrounding areas. ©bioreconstruct Plus, crews are also working on the former MuppetVision theater, which, as we mentioned earlier, is named “The Glob” in the concept art and seems to be the likely spot for the new Monsters, Inc. theater show. ©bioreconstruct Seeing the construction progress has been getting us more and more thrilled to experience everything the monster world has to offer! Disney hasn’t announced an opening date for Monstropolis yet, but we’ll be keeping a close eye out for any updates and major construction milestones, and we’ll update you as soon as we learn more! 13. A major EPCOT attraction is about to look very different, and the timeline is officially locked in. Soarin’ Around the World Disney has confirmed key dates for a transformation that will temporarily close Soarin’ and bring back a familiar version with a patriotic twist. If you’ve got a Disney World trip planned soon, this update could seriously impact your plans, so here’s everything you need to know. The Current Version Is Closing Soon If you love Soarin’ Around the World, your time to ride it is running out. According to the Disney World calendar, the last day to experience this version at EPCOT will be May 13th, with the attraction officially closing on May 14th. Eiffel Tower That means the iconic scenes you’ve come to expect, including that slightly warped Eiffel Tower moment that fans love to point out (that has been fixed), are about to disappear for now. If it’s on your must-do list, you’ll want to prioritize it before that mid-May cutoff. Soarin’ Across America Opens May 26th Disney has confirmed that Soarin’ Across America will officially open on May 26th at both Disney World and Disneyland Resort. ©Disney This new version is arriving just in time to celebrate the United States’ 250th anniversary, and it will take guests on a coast-to-coast journey featuring some of the country’s most iconic landscapes and cityscapes. Think sweeping natural beauty, recognizable skylines, and a heavy dose of Americana. ©Disney | View of the Grand Canyon in the new version of Soarin’ The turnaround time between closing and reopening is pretty tight, but not an overnight change, which suggests Disney is working on more than just a simple film swap. It’s Not Just a Screen Change At first, many of us assumed this update would be as simple as replacing the ride film, but it looks like there’s more happening behind the scenes. Soarin’ Seats A permit filed by Walt Disney Imagineering references the installation of “set elements” for the attraction. That’s a big clue that physical changes could be coming to the ride space, the queue, or even the theater itself. Right now, Disney hasn’t shared specifics, but this opens the door for new immersive details that go beyond what we’ve seen in past Soarin’ updates. It could mean enhanced theming, added props, or subtle environmental upgrades that make the experience feel fresh again. Some Fan-Favorite Elements Are Staying Before you panic, not everything is changing. Disney has confirmed that Soarin’ Across America will keep many of the elements we already love. That includes the ride system itself, the sweeping musical score, and even the signature scents that make each scene feel so immersive. The overall experience of gliding through the air won’t feel unfamiliar, which is good news for us longtime fans. ©Disney There’s also a strong chance that Patrick, the Chief Flight Attendant from the pre-show, will stick around. While Disney hasn’t confirmed whether a new pre-show has been filmed, he appeared in the announcement video, which is a promising sign. What Happens to Soarin’ Around the World? Here’s the big unknown: Disney has not announced whether Soarin’ Around the World will return in the future. This could be a temporary swap for the anniversary celebration, or it could signal a longer-term shift in the attraction’s identity. For now, all we know is that it’s going away on May 14th, and there’s no confirmed return date. Soarin’ Around the World That uncertainty is part of what makes this change feel bigger than expected. It’s not just a seasonal overlay. It could reshape what guests experience at this iconic pavilion for years to come. Why This Change Matters for Your Trip If you’re visiting Disney World in mid to late May, timing is everything. Arrive before May 14th, and you’ll still catch Soarin’ Around the World. Visit between May 14th and May 25th, and the ride will be completely unavailable. Plan your trip after May 26th, and you’ll be among the first to experience the updated Soarin’ Across America. ©Disney That’s a pretty significant swing for one of EPCOT’s most popular attractions, so it’s worth adjusting your plans accordingly. The Bottom Line This isn’t just a minor update. It’s a full-on transformation with new scenes, possible physical enhancements, and a limited-time feel tied to a major national celebration. Whether you’re excited or a little nostalgic, there’s no denying that change is coming fast. If Soarin’ Around the World is on your must-ride list, your window is closing. If you’re curious about what’s next, the new version is arriving sooner than you might think. We’ll keep an eye out for more Soarin’ updates, so stay tuned to DFB for more. 16. Can you keep a secret? We aren’t joking here! Pat O’Brien’s at Universal Speakeasy is back at Pat O’Brien’s at Universal Orlando’s CityWalk! Speakeasy is an exclusive experience for guests that is literally hidden upstairs, which you get to by using the stairs in the back of Pat O’Brien’s. We got the chance to check it out with an early preview before it returns, and we just had to share our experience with you! Like we said, the speakeasy is hidden upstairs in Pat O’Brien’s. We know it might sound crazy, but this venue requires a password. You get the password from the staff. Speaking of, we managed to get our secret membership card! Secret membership card! When you get to the door, you’ll need to knock and wait for someone to come. The door has a sliding peephole/window where you give the password. Someone came to the door, we spoke the password, and we were let inside. Look at the door! The place has a beautiful atmosphere and features live jazz, curated cocktails, and small bites. Inside the venue! If you choose to sit outside, you can hear the piano downstairs, and it turns into instant entertainment as you’re watching over CityWalk. We talked to multiple managers tonight, and they all said the menus are unique to this speakeasy. Outside the venue! Everybody was involved to make this a unique, separate experience from Pat O’Brien’s. We love how entertainment is offered inside via a jazz musician. The inside also has smoky effects, adding to the speakeasy feeling. It’s awesome in here! Of course, we couldn’t show up and not try any food or drinks. The menu had a lot of interesting and tasty-looking options. The menu! First, we decided to try the Millionaire Bacon for $13.95. The Millionaire Bacon was bourbon, chocolate-covered bacon on skewers. However, the version we had did not have skewers. The bacon was perfectly cooked with a balance of crunch and chew for a very pleasant texture. Millionaire Bacon The dark chocolate was very rich, and although we couldn’t taste the bourbon, we do think it adds to the richness of the chocolate. It truly balances it, making it not as sweet as we anticipated. This is a fun snack! This is tasty! It goes incredibly well with their strong cocktails, and it’s a fun way to add quintessential bacon to the menu. The white chocolate drizzle has a little lightness at the end with a vanilla kick, which is very pleasant. They only give you three pieces of bacon for an order, which does feel like a lot for the price of $13.95. This is a fun but pricey dish Next, we had the Deviled Eggs for $7.95. The eggs were also perfectly cooked, and the filling was so light and airy. The mustard that they used really does come through, and it is covered with bacon, which adds a smoky finish. Deviled Eggs They were some of the best deviled eggs that we’d had in a very long time. The bacon was also cooked perfectly and added a texture that was very pleasant, with a chew at the end. The softness of the egg and the light whipped filling it balanced out all the textures, really making this dish sing! This was delicious! We got two drinks while we were here! The first was the Sirloin Sazerac for $21.00. The Sirloin Sazerac was sirloin-infused pigs’ back, rye whiskey, Pierre Ferrand Cognac, sugar, bitters, and a rinse of absinthe. This is one of their signature cocktails, and it is such a balanced drink. Sirloin Sazerac It is so surprising that you get the cognac at the front with this sweetness that lingers in your mouth, and then at the end, to get the smoke from the sirloin. The absinthe wash just adds an aromatic quality that is pleasant, so there’s none of the anise flavor that most people attribute to absinthe. It instead adds more body to the actual drink, and it adds a little almost seasoning to the sirloin, which is very odd to say. This drink was so interesting! Lastly, we grabbed the Gilded Old Fashioned for $21.00. The Gilded Old Fashioned was knob creek bourbon, rose champagne syrup, and bitters. Just like the other drink, this was a perfectly balanced old-fashioned! Gilded Old Fashioned The champagne syrup added a little sweetness, but because there are two different kinds of bitters used, the sweetness is taken down, so it’s not an overly sweet old-fashioned, but it’s also not an overly strong drink. The creek is very smooth, and this was a very good old-fashioned cocktail. Another thumbs up from us! Not only was the experience fun, unique, and entertaining, but the food and drink offerings here hit! We’ll be finding ourselves here soon enough. Speakeasy will be open Thursday through Sunday, starting at 6pm. Open to all guests who are over the age of 21! Here’s what we got! 18. Today, April 10th, is a VERY special day, especially if you happen to have a brother or sister. ©Disney That’s because it’s National Siblings Day, a day set aside to honor the special bonds that siblings share. The holiday was founded in 1995 by Claudia Evart, who was inspired to honor her siblings after losing her brother. Now, 34 years later, Disney is honoring siblings by spotlighting three sisters who all work at Disney World as Cast Members. Meet sisters Kate, Brittany, and Rachel Hackett, who started their Disney journey visiting Disney World as children with their grandmother, who spent 27 years working there as a seasonal Merchandise Cast Member. Now, the three women have grown up and have followed in their grandmother’s footsteps as Disney World Cast Members. “We were very fortunate to spend so much time at Disney World as children,” Kate said. “Our grandmother really shaped those memories for us.” Magic Kingdom Those early visits were the beginning of what led the sisters to work for Disney World today. Trips even included holiday vacations where they saw the Candlelight Processional: their grandmother even performed in the cast choir. They also followed in her footsteps there and performed in the Candlelight Processional Cast Choir. ©Disney Brittany was the first to follow the Disney calling by moving to Florida from New Jersey for school. She picked up a part-time role at Disney World. Then her other two sisters followed. The three might have very different jobs, but they’re proud to be Cast Members. Kate works in Food and Beverage at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, which inspired her to complete culinary school. ©Disney Brittany works in Entertainment as a scheduling specialist so that everyone, from performers, attendants, technicians, costuming cast, and more, has smooth experiences. ©Disney Rachel works with Disney Character Events, which helps bring Disney’s characters to events across Disney World and more. Recently, all three sisters had the opportunity to work at the same event in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. That was the first time in more than six years that they got to be part of the same project. ©Disney Their enthusiasm for Disney has grown throughout their family. They also have two uncles and an aunt who work at Disney World as Cast Members. “We are grateful to be a place where careers often begin with family and grow into long-term journeys rooted in opportunity and purpose,” said Michelle Stewart, manager of cast activities engagement and strategy. 20. There are multiple new lands under construction in Disney World right now, but one of the ones we’re most looking forward to is the new Monsters, Inc. Land coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios! ©Disney This new land is expected to open in 2027, 26 years after the film’s opening in 2001, which goes to show that you never know when Disney may choose to introduce a land based on an old favorite film. This new land won’t only be home to new dining and shopping locations, but also new attractions, including Disney’s FIRST ever suspended coaster. It’s being built at the very back of the new land, so it’s hard to see from the construction walls at the front, but we headed over to the parking lot to be able to see the BIG update that’s taken place! From here, we’re able to see that the first supports for this new massive coaster are now in place, which means we’ll likely start to see walls and more supports begin to show up soon! We know this ride building is set to be pretty big, so once the walls continue to go up (it’s possible but not guaranteed), we may be able to see parts of the building from inside the park! Check out those supports! For right now, though, yes, you can only see the updates from the Hollywood Studios parking lot — THAT’S how big this ride will be! You can see it right from the parking lot! This is quite the update for this land. Paired with the fact that we saw scaffolding all over the former Muppet*Vision 3D theater earlier this week, seemingly working hard on the exterior, it seems there’s a lot happening in this corner of the park right now. We’re all for it, especially if it means the land will open earlier than we expect! Lots going on at the theater, too! Don’t forget that Disney is also currently retheming Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets in Hollywood Studios as well, which appears to be well underway as well. This new version of the ride is set to open sometime in Summer 2026, but no official opening date has been announced just yet. We do know that the ride will be “fueled by the tasty tunes of the Electric Mayhem and the high-speed hijinks of The Muppets.” The newly paired car at Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster! The new Monsters Inc. Land doesn’t have a confirmed opening timeline just yet. They analyzed the 20 busiest airports in the U.S. by passenger traffic and ranked them according to how frequently flights are delayed, how much it costs to park for a day, and how long it takes to reach the city centre from the airport.
