Universal fans who live in Texas have something HUGE to be excited about: a brand new Universal resort in Frisco! ©Universal Well, Universal has dropped a lot of details about the new resort, Universal Kids Resort, including what lands it will include and what kind of rides the theme park will have. The park will be themed for families, and it’s expected to open sometime this year! Well, we’ve got some new photos of the construction progress of the new theme park, and it’s really moving along! Universal Kids Resort will feature seven themed lands, including DreamWorks’ Shrek’s Swamp, Jurassic World Adventure Camp, Nickelodeon’s SpongeBob SquarePants Bikini Bottom, Illumination’s Minions vs. Minions: Bello Bay Club, DreamWorks’ TrollsFest, DreamWorks’ Puss in Boots Del Mar, and the Isle of Curiosity. Yes, that’s some of your favorite Universal properties! ©Universal Now, we drove by the construction site to see if we could spot any progress, and one thing we immediately noticed when driving by was that there are now road signs up for the new theme park! One highway sign points to Universal Parkway, where the new theme park will be located. Universal Parkway! We also saw some signs pointing drivers to parking for the theme park and hotel (yep, there’s going to be a hotel), as well as to where rideshare drop-off and pick-up will be. SWEET. Parking signs As for the park itself, most of what you can see from the road is the hotel, but we spotted a big “Universal” sign on the top of the hotel. The hotel will have a total of 300 rooms and will also serve as the entrance to the theme park. The hotel and entrance Here’s a look at the hotel and entrance from another angle. As you can see, it’s going to be bright and colorful and inspired by the themed lands in the theme park. It’s so colorful! We’ll be keeping an eye out for more Universal news, so be sure to stay tuned to DFB for more. Forget Halloween Horror Nights. Do you want to join us on a treat hunt? Disney Springs We recently went to Disney Springs to try a new treat at Vivoli Il Gelato. Sometimes we can’t help but satisfy our sweet tooth, especially when Disney World has so many sweet treats at so many different locations across the property! Want to see what we got? Vivoli Il Gelato at Disney Springs is a cart over in The Landing, and it has a brand-new treat called the Golden Oreo Tiramisu. You can get this for $10.50, and it is made with mascarpone cream with layers of coffee-soaked Golden Oreos. This treat looks delicious and aesthetic, but how good is it? Golden Oreo Tiramisu First things first, this flavor is for those who like Golden Oreos. If you don’t, this flavor may be a miss for you. The coffee flavor was definitely present in the cookie, and we really like the espresso at Vivoli. This didn’t taste burnt, and it was pretty smooth with a strong flavor. Let’s try it! It’s a tiramisu, so it does not have a lot of variety when it comes to textures. The treat was very smooth and creamy, which was nice when letting it sit in your mouth. It was good, but again, the Golden Oreo flavor is very much there, so it won’t be for you if you don’t like those types of Oreo cookies. Bonus points that it took them like two seconds to make, which is awesome when you need something sweet immediately. You should try it! We’re always wandering around Disney World looking to try sweets and treats. Make sure to follow us at the Disney Food Blog for more food reviews! While we got lots of Disney news this past week about deals and discounts to help make your next trip more affordable, we were grateful that it was another week where major closures didn’t happen around the resort. Jellyrolls While there was one closure in Disney Springs, and we found out another one is on its way, we also heard some INCREDIBLE news about a former beloved spot at Disney’s BoardWalk, AND a Disney World ride that’s been under refurbishment for months now actually reopened EARLY! If you’re visiting Disney World soon, these are the closures you need to know about happening before your trip begins. Disney’s Hollywood Studios Animation Courtyard Animation Courtyard closed on September 25th, 2025, to make way for Walt Disney Studios. This new area will open on May 26th, 2026, and will be a special nod to the Walt Disney Studios lot. Star Wars Launch Bay will be turned into The Magic of Disney Animation. This attraction will have you interacting and exploring with this fun take on Disney Animation headquarters. Disney announced that a new Animation Academy experience called Olaf Draws! will be added into this new area, and it’s been…controversial, to say the least! ©Disney However, most recently, we’ve seen a lot of progress on this upcoming land — new pavement is almost all set, and it’s really starting to come together. @bioreconstruct via X This area will also feature a new Drawn to Wonderland indoor play area and the current Disney Jr. Play and Dance! show will be getting a makeover. During the transformation, you will still be able to visit “The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure” and Walt Disney Presents. Muppets Courtyard, including Muppet*Vision 3D, PizzeRizzo, and Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano Muppet*Vision 3D AND PizzeRizzo closed on June 8th, and Muppets Courtyard has been walled off so construction can begin on the new Monsters, Inc. land. Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano has been closed since May 11th. Most recently, we got a good look at the building being formed for the new attraction, which is set where Cast Member parking used to be, and we’re SHOCKED by how massive it is! ©bioreconstruct Don’t worry, the Muppets won’t be missing from Disney’s Hollywood Studios forever. The Muppets will eventually be taking over Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster in summer 2026. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets Disney has already made tons of progress on the new version of this iconic attraction! The previous name of the ride has already been removed from multiple locations, including on the guitar, which is now behind the scrim and scaffolding. Under construction Disney is also already putting new paint on the car at the entrance to this area, so it looks more like the Electric Mayhem’s iconic van. It looks great! KRNR The Rock Station is also currently closed, and we’re curious to see if it’ll reopen as a new snack spot, just rethemed, in the near future! Closed! We’ll be keeping a close eye on this spot — we know a lot is to come! If I Had a Nickel for Every Viral Disney Animatronic Problem This Week…I’d Have Two Nickels EPCOT Refreshment Port Refreshment Port located near the Canada Pavilion in EPCOT’s World Showcase is temporarily closed for refurbishment as of January 12th. Not so great news if you were hoping to snag a specialty poutine during EPCOT’s International Flower & Garden Festival. The Refreshment Port is closed However, there will still be plenty of yummy snacks to grab! Disney hasn’t yet announced what will be done at Refreshment Port or when the stand will reopen. However, we will keep an eye and ear out for progress and keep you updated. Not To Be Dramatic, But This Disney World Essential Just Changed My Life Disney’s Animal Kingdom On February 23rd, Disney temporarily closed Rafiki’s Planet Watch and the Wildlife Express, which takes guests over to this part of the park, to make way for the new Bluey attraction coming to the park for Cool KIDS’ SUMMER on May 26th. For the time being, you can still visit the Wilderness Explorer badge offerings, as well as a few character meet and greets, at the train station. The signs are covered up! Since February 2nd, it’s been official that DinoLand U.S.A. is officially closed to make way for the new Tropical Americas land, Pueblo Esperanza. Don’t get us wrong, we’re looking forward to what’s new, but especially since we just recently saw the DinoLand sign come down, we’re missing DINOSAUR and the rest of this uniquely themed land already! Most recently, a new permit was filed for the new Encanto ride to “install set elements.” ©Disney We’re also seeing lots of progress on the new carousel attraction coming to this land, which is very exciting! ©Bioreconstruct This new land is expected to open sometime in 2027 with three new rides, a new restaurant, shopping spots, a beautiful fountain, and more, so we’ll be sure to keep you updated on all the latest! 3 Pin-Trading Essentials for Disney World Blizzard Beach On February 15th, 2026, Blizzard Beach reopened in Disney World, and Typhoon Lagoon closed for refurbishment. Visiting during the summer and don’t want to worry about tons of crowds in one park? Typhoon Lagoon will reopen again on May 12th, 2026, so for the majority of the summer, we’ll have both water parks open again. Blizzard Beach The 4 Best Disney Beach Bags From Amazon, Target, and BoxLunch Disney World Hotels Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa This hotel has been undergoing refurbishments all over for quite some time now, but we know that sections of the hotel — specifically the porte cochere — will continue to undergo refurbishment through early 2027 at least. Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa We certainly hope it’ll actually be able to hit this timeline — we’re a little tired of seeing construction all over this beautiful hotel! Bay Cove Pool Area — Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort This week, the Bay Cove Pool, the water play area, and the whirlpool spa at Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort will temporarily close for maintenance. From January 26th through early May 2026, the pool area will be unavailable. Disney’s Contemporary Resort During the closure, guests can still use the Bay Lake Pool, the feature pool, the water play area, and the whirlpool spa at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort For those looking to dine at this hotel, you need to know that the Turf Club Bar & Grill and Turf Club Lounge will both be under refurbishment from mid-March through mid-September 2026. To break it down, in early April, the Turf Club Lounge will close for refurbishment and will reopen in early August. In the meantime, the Turf Club Bar & Grill will remain open with a pop-up bar serving a modified Lounge food and beverage menu. The Turf Club Lounge Then, from early to mid-August, the Turf Club patio will close for refurbishment, and finally, from mid-August through mid-September, the Turf Club Bar & Grill will be closed for refurbishment, but the Turf Club Lounge will be open. Leisure Pools — Disney’s Yacht Club Resort and Disney’s Beach Club Resort Disney’s Yacht Club and Disney’s Beach Club Resort are currently undergoing visible exterior maintenance. The maintenance could affect views and may require alternate routes at times. In addition, two of the resort’s leisure pools will close for routine maintenance. At Disney’s Yacht Club, the Admiral leisure be will be closed for maintenance through early May 2026. Admiral Pool At Disney’s Beach Club, the Tidal leisure pool will be closed for maintenance through early May 2026. During the construction, guests may see or hear construction work, but it will only be done during the daytime hours. Crew’s Cup Lounge — Disney’s Yacht Club Resort On February 23rd, Crew’s Cup Lounge closed for refurbishment until May 2026. Crew’s Cup Lounge While we don’t have a specific reopening date yet, we do know that when the lounge reopens, Yachtsman Steakhouse will close instead, also to go under refurbishment. Turtle Pond Pool, Turtle Pond Pool Spa, BBQ Area, and Playground — Disney’s Old Key West Resort Starting early January through early February 2026, the Turtle Pond Pool, Turtle Pond Pool Spa, the BBQ area, and the playground at Disney’s Old Key West Resort will be closed for routine maintenance. Turtle Pond Pool at Old Key West During the closure, guests can head over to the Sandcastle Pool or one of the resort’s leisure pools. There are two different leisure pools available: the South Point Pool and Miller’s Road Pool. Surfboard Bay Pool and Kiddie Pool — Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort From January 2026 through April 2026, the Surfboard Bay Pool and Kiddie Pool at Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort will be closed for maintenance. Don’t worry, though, if you are in the swimming mood, you will still have plenty of options for pools. You may just need to travel a bit farther. Surfboard Bay At Disney’s All-Star Sports, the Grand Slam Leisure Pool will still be open. As well, you can also use any of the pools at the other All-Star Resorts. You can use the Calypso Pool and Piano Pool and kiddie pool at Disney’s All-Star Music Resort or the Fantasia Pool and Duck Pond Pool and kiddie pool at Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort. Promenade Fine Art Gallery — Disney’s BoardWalk Inn and Resort The Promenade Fine Art Gallery will be closing its Disney’s BoardWalk location on October 20th, 2025. However, the Promenade Fine Art Gallery isn’t closing for good, and it will just be moving to a new location. Promenade Fine Art Gallery The gallery hasn’t announced yet where that new location will be, but we will keep you updated as we learn more! Jellyrolls — Disney’s BoardWalk Jellyrolls at Disney’s BoardWalk officially closed on April 19th, 2025. This entertainment venue has provided our team with countless memories, and we know many others are also sad to see it close. Jellyrolls had its final farewell performance on April 19th and closed its doors forever on Disney’s BoardWalk. Jellyrolls Now, we know that Jellyrolls will be moving to a new location about 10 minutes away, and a grand opening is planned for late summer or fall 2026. Figment fans are going to be running to EPCOT to get a brand-new souvenir…but is it worth it? Figment Bubble Machine A new bubble machine has just landed at EPCOT, and it comes in the form of the beloved purple dragon who’s all about imagination! If you head over to EPCOT, you’ll find the new Figment Bubble Machine at merchandise carts around the park. Figment Bubble Machine The bubble machine has some cool features, including lighting up and playing music. You can probably guess what song he plays — that catchy “Imagination” song that everyone sings from the ride. Come to think of it, some of you might dread it (but it couldn’t be us — we love Figment!). He’s so cute! Look, it’s hard to pass up on anything Figment, but is it worth buying? Well, Figment puts out a lot of bubbles, but he runs out of juice very quickly. We think we’re being generous by saying you get about five minutes out of it before needing a refill. BUBBLES! It’s a really cute bubble machine, but it just takes a lot of refills, with little time to pop out all those bubbles. It’s not as big as those popular Ariel and Buzz bubble wands that every kiddo has around Disney World. Regardless, it’s a super cute souvenir with some fun features; we understand why you wouldn’t be able to pass up on it. Figment with Figment The bubble machine comes with about half the size of a refill. After that, you’ll have to purchase refills for around two dollars each. You can also bring your own bubble soap if you know you’re going to be obsessed with him. Are you grabbing one? We’re going to let you make your park reservation, because we’re sure you’re already planning your next EPCOT visit to grab one of these. Summer is right around the corner, and you know what that means. Overcast skies after Hurricane Milton We’re not talking about the heat and humidity that will make a summer Disney World trip make you feel like you’re stuck in a sauna that’s been turned up too high. We’re not even talking about those random rainstorms that do nothing more than just make it feel even MORE hot and humid. Nope, we’re talking about hurricane season, which starts from June and goes through November. Well, the 2026 hurricane season will be here before you know it, and the forecasts from the National Hurricane Center will look a little different. This year, the NOAA’s National Hurricane Center (NHC) is implementing some new tools to help with forecasting hurricanes, including a new hurricane track forecast cone map. These cone graphics give a better understanding of a hurricane’s path. The improved cone graphic was tested last year, and helped to enable “inland communities to better understand and prepare for the danger posed by tropical cyclone winds.” ©NHC Here’s what the new cone does: Combines all land-based tropical storm and hurricane watches and warnings for the continental U.S., Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Uses single shading for the entire 5-day forecast. The legend has symbols for areas where a hurricane watch and tropical storm warning are both in effect (the pink and blue lines) You will also be able to see full and intermediate Tropical Cyclone Advisories on hurricanes.gov. Visitors leaving Magic Kingdom and EPCOT at the Transportation and Ticket Center during a hurricane So, for example, if you were headed to Disney World, or ARE in Disney World during hurricane season, this cone could give you a good idea if you need to cancel or reschedule your trip, or if you’re already in Disney World, hunker down in your hotel and prepare for possible theme park closures. This could also alert you to the possibility of itinerary changes if you’re sailing on Disney Cruise Line in areas that may be affected. Disney Wish at Castaway Cay The NHC has also introduced a new experimental version of its Tropical Cyclone Forecast Cone. This cone shows where the hurricane is likely to go, based on past calculations. It will be available on the NHC website for full and intermediate advisories. The NHC has also developed new storm surge products for Hawaii (which could help you if you’re planning to visit Disney’s Aulani Resort). These new tools will: Give probability-based forecasts of water and storm surge levels up to three days before a hurricane arrives Figure in storm track, wind intensity, and wind radii in forecasts Offer this information publicly to all Hawaiian islands Disney’s Aulani Resort The NHC hopes these new tools will help keep those in the potential paths of hurricanes more informed and safe. We’ll be keeping an eye on hurricane season and how it affects Disney World, so stay tuned to DFB for more. When it comes to dining at Disney World, you’ve got a TON of options. Want something quick and easy? You’ve got it. Something middle-of-the-road and comforting? Yep, that too. And if you’re looking for something upscale and luxurious, you can find that as well. Trader Sam’s We recently stopped by Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto to see what was cookin’, and now we’re bringing you our FULL review. Is it worth a stop on your next trip to the Most Magical Place on Earth? Find out here! Atmosphere Trader Sam — the famous Head Salesman of Jungle Cruise fame — has collected artifacts from all over the globe in his travels and has brought them to his “happy hideaway” in Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort! Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto Disney details abound all over Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto — a 51-seat bar which also features interactive elements from special effects throughout the room and zany antics from the bartenders in response to the ordering of certain libations (many of which are served in highly collectible souvenir tiki glasses)! So many details everywhere Until 8PM, this restaurant is available to the whole family. Only those 21 and over are allowed admittance afterward. The spot is extremely popular, and Advance Dining Reservations are not available here, so you may want to read up on the Walk-Up Waitlist option for the in-demand tiki bar before you go! Entrance But enough about the restaurant — what’s on the menu here?! Menu The food menu here is inspired by South Pacific and Polynesian eats like Kalua Pork Tacos, Sushi, Dumplings, Spicy Honey Pork Wings, and more. Trader Sam’s menu As far as drinks go, this is a tiki bar, so you can expect to find classic tiki drinks — with a Disney twist, of course. The Uh-Oa! is a crowd favorite, along with the Zombie and Hippopoto-Mai-Tai. You can also find non-alcoholic specialty drinks, beer, and wine. Inside the menu And now, onto the main event — the food! Drinks Starting with drinks, we picked up the Polynesian Pearl for $24.50. This is made with RumChata Cream Liqueur, Grand Marnier Liqueur, and Cinnamon with Tropical Juices. The Pearl is yours to keep — and if you’re lucky, you might get a black pearl, just like we did on this visit! Polynesian Pearl — Black Pearl! This is a FANTASTIC tiki drink, and was our reporter’s favorite of this visit — and maybe their favorite drink they’ve had at Disney World, period. If you like piña coladas, you’ll most likely enjoy this. Though it’s not frozen, the creamy coconut flavor was very reminiscent of one. It was not overly strong, though the alcohol flavor was present. There is a little spice to it thanks to the cinnamon. It’s fruity, creamy, and you get to keep the pearl! We also grabbed the Krakatoa Punch for $19.50. This drink is made with Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum, Pyrat XO Reserve Rum, Orgeat (Almond), Sam’s Gorilla Grog, and Hibiscus Grenadine. Krakatoa Punch The spiced rum has a really nice kick that kind of sits on your tongue for a little after you drink it. We couldn’t really taste the hibiscus grenadine. We were searching for a floral, pomegranate flavor, but it never really reached past the rum, for better or worse. The presentation is really cute with a glow cube to simulate a bubbling volcano, too! There were some eats on our mind, too, of course. Eats First up, we tried the Kahuna Tuna Sushi Roll for $19. This is essentially a basic tuna sushi roll you might expect at your local spot. Kahuna Tuna Sushi Roll The tuna on top tasted fresh, was smooth to bite through, and was pretty flavorful. The rice was unfortunately dry and at some points a little hard. It wasn’t a huge portion, only eight small pieces of sushi, so not a lot of value for the price. It wasn’t unlike the sushi you would get at the grocery store. The vegetables inside were fresh with a nice snap. It also comes with ginger, wasabi, and a ramekin of soy sauce. These were all very standard. Sushi And, we also had the Kalua Pork Tacos for $11.50. These were very flavorful, with a fresh jalapeño slice garnish on top. There was quite a bit of pork in each of the three tacos. The slaw is fresh and chilled, adding a really nice crunch. The creamy sauce has a little kick, but it is also sweet. The flour tortillas are not dry and taste fresh, though they’re most likely prepackaged. The tacos are served with a slice of lime to squeeze over the top, which we recommend. We would definitely get these again, as they’re a pretty good value — especially compared to the sushi. Kalua Pork Tacos So, is Trader Sam’s worth a visit on your next Disney World trip? Nosh or Not This Disney World restaurant is a must-visit… If you want the most “I can’t believe this is real” bar experience on property, this is the one. It’s an intimate tiki hideaway packed with shrunken-head decor, corny-in-the-best-way Skipper banter, and drink orders that trigger in-bar effects (aka your cocktail arrives and suddenly the room has opinions). Disney basically begs you to arrive early, and they mean it. If you’re doing a monorail evening or an adults-first resort hop. It’s a perfect stop because it feels like a whole attraction without needing a park ticket. It’s tucked at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, so you can roll in, soak up the vibe, and pretend you’re a glamorous explorer whose biggest problem is “do we order the pineapple drink or the other pineapple drink?” If you like cocktails and small plates, the menu is built for “snack dinner” or “pre-dinner warmup that accidentally becomes dinner.” Think sushi roll, dumplings, lettuce cups, flatbread, and tacos, plus fun non-alcoholic options too. You should skip this Disney World spot… If you hate waiting, This place is TINY. Like, “about 50 people” tiny. That’s why it’s magical, and also why it’s frequently a whole situation to get in, especially at night. If you’re trying to keep things budget-friendly, this place is a danger. Drinks are specialty, snacks are shareable, and it’s incredibly easy to turn “just one” into “well, now we need an appetizer to keep it company.” (Also: Dining Plan meals are not accepted.) If you’re counting on it as a late-night family hangout. There is an 8:00 PM cutoff for under-21s inside. The outdoor terrace is still an option, but the full “indoor show” experience becomes adults-only after 8. Overall If you’re a fan of tropical drinks, Trader Sam’s is not to be missed. Plus, you really can’t beat the atmosphere. It’s a step above your average tiki bar, thanks to the interactive elements and bartender shenanigans. While the food isn’t worth a visit on its own, it is decently tasty and is a great spot for pre-dinner snacks. It’s also a great spot for some late-night vibes, especially if you’re staying at the Polynesian or want something to do after leaving Magic Kingdom! Okay, so you know we have a lot of favorite snacks in Disney World, and it’s hard to just pick one as the #1 fave, but let’s just say that Gingerbread Salted Caramel Buttercream Cookie Sandwich is very close to being at the top of that list. Gingerbread Salted Caramel Buttercream Cookie Sandwich There’s just something about the spicy gingerbread flavors, mixed with salty caramel and sweet buttercream, that just makes us so happy. It’s a popular snack for a reason. There’s just one big problem: it tends to be seasonal, and you can usually only get it around the holidays. Well, we’ve got some AMAZING news. For a VERY limited time, this cookie sandwich is BACK in Disney World. Now, usually, this special snack is ONLY available at Karamel-Kuche in EPCOT, but for this weekend only, you don’t even need a park ticket to get your hands on it. That’s because Disney Springs is celebrating National Caramel Day by offering the Gingerbread Salted Caramel Buttercream Cookie Sandwich for this weekend only at Goofy’s Candy Company and Disney’s Candy Cauldron. We LOVE this snack But that’s not all. If you drop by the Town Center Market Stalls today and tomorrow, you can snap some fun photos at a special National Caramel Day photo op with a backdrop that features Karamel-Kuche and some fun caramel-related props. How fun! Also, Werthers is giving out FREE caramel samples. Best Caramel Day EVER! ©Disney If you’re still craving caramel after all that, head back to Goofy’s Candy Company and grab the Werther’s Original Caramel Butter Bar. It’s a fave of ours, too! Traveling to Disney World can feel like an Olympic sport with Mickey-shaped obstacles. You’re hauling chargers, snacks, sweatshirts, lip balm, a boarding pass, and at least one very important pair of mouse ears, all while speed-walking through the airport like your life depends on it and mentally debating if you have time to stop for an iced coffee. Let’s take a flight! So when a former flight attendant recommended this travel bag as a go-to carry-on, I was intrigued. A bag that’s supposed to be roomy, comfortable, airline-friendly, and not cost a small fortune? That’s the kind of promise that usually makes me squint suspiciously. But after testing it out at Orlando International Airport, I have to admit, this one actually understood the assignment. DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. Check out this Snoffic Travel Backpack Let’s start with the obvious: finding a good carry-on is weirdly hard. Some bags look cute but hold approximately three socks and a granola bar. Others are technically “travel bags” but feel like you’re lugging around a cinder block with straps. And if you’re trying to avoid checked bag fees? The pressure is on. That’s why this backpack stood out. It’s designed to work as a personal item or carry-on, which is music to the ears of anyone flying to Orlando and trying to keep things simple. It’s also marketed as TSA-friendly, water-resistant, and built for comfort, which are three phrases I like to hear when I’m about to enter the chaotic gladiator arena known as the airport security line. Snoffic Carry On Backpack Right out of the box, the Snoffic Travel Backpack felt surprisingly solid. Not flimsy. Not sad. Not “this zipper is going to betray me at baggage check.” The material felt sturdy, with a water-resistant finish that made me feel a little less nervous about rogue coffee drips, mystery airport moisture, or whatever else the travel gods decide to throw at me. It also has wide, padded shoulder straps, which matter more than people realize. A travel bag can hold the secrets of the universe, but if it digs into your shoulders after ten minutes, it has failed the mission. This one was comfortable to wear, and the chest buckle helped distribute the weight a little better when the bag was fully packed. Love that for my back. Here’s the back Another detail I appreciated? The handles. You’ve got the standard top handle, but there’s also a side handle, which means you can carry it like a duffel when needed. That may sound minor, but in the airport, every little convenience feels like a tiny miracle wrapped in nylon. Now let’s talk capacity, because this bag is giving “looks normal, secretly a TARDIS.” It’s deceptively spacious. I packed for a short Disney World trip and still had room to keep things organized instead of tossing everything into one giant fabric abyss. Clothes, toiletries, tech, travel essentials, and yes, even mouse ears all fit without turning the backpack into a lumpy little nightmare. Snoffic Carry-On Backpack The compartments are a big part of what makes this bag work. Instead of digging through your belongings like a raccoon in a snack drawer, you can actually keep things where they belong. That means less frantic gate-area rummaging and fewer moments where you accidentally pull out something deeply unhelpful when all you wanted was your charger. And then came the real test: Orlando International Airport. If a bag can survive MCO, it deserves a medal and maybe a refreshing beverage. This airport sees a huge number of Disney-bound travelers, which means it’s often bustling, crowded, and full of people hauling enough vacation gear to populate a small village. So yes, this felt like the right place to put the Snoffic Travel Backpack through its paces. Another way to hold it Security was easy enough, and the bag’s TSA-friendly design definitely helped streamline the process. No awkward fumbling. No dramatic repacking performance in front of strangers. No holding up the line while silently bargaining with the universe. Already a win. But the biggest moment came once I boarded the plane, because there is one question that matters more than almost anything else with a travel bag: Will it actually fit under the seat? So much room! I slid it under the seat in front of me and held my breath a little. Then, victory. It fit. No wrestling match. No panicked shoving. No, trying to compress the laws of physics with sheer determination. Even packed pretty full, it slid right into place, which is exactly what you want if you’re trying to travel light and skip extra baggage fees. That under-seat fit is the kind of thing that can make or break a travel bag, especially if you’re flying a budget airline or just don’t want to fool with overhead bin drama. The Snoffic bag passed that test beautifully, and honestly, that alone makes it worth a look. Carry-on Backpack For the price, this backpack really punches above its weight. It’s comfortable, durable, roomy, and practical without looking like you stole it from a mountaineering expedition. It handled the airport, held a surprising amount, and made the whole travel day feel a little less chaotic, which is no small feat. So if you’re heading to Disney World, trying to avoid baggage fees, or just need a carry-on that won’t make you regret every life choice by Gate 42, the Snoffic Travel Backpack might be the travel upgrade you didn’t know you needed. Sometimes the hype is just hype. And sometimes a former flight attendant hands you a recommendation that actually earns its spot in your packing lineup. This bag? Yeah, I’d fly with it again. view ON AMAZON We’re always looking out for those essentials you’ll need on your next Disney trip, so don’t forget to stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for more! There are two kinds of Disney World shoe conversations. The first is the hopeful, innocent kind. The kind where someone says, “I think I can just wear the cute sandals I already own,” as though Disney World is a quaint little sidewalk situation and not a full-contact endurance event disguised as a vacation. One of our favorite shoes! The second kind is this one. Yes, we are here. Again. Writing about the same shoes. Again. Because despite all our collective yearning for some hot new under-the-radar miracle sneaker that costs twelve dollars and cures foot pain with the power of vibes alone, these are still the pairs people keep buying for Disney World. These are the shoes that show up in packing lists, park bags, airport outfits, and suspiciously smug post-trip reviews from people whose feet are not currently filing a lawsuit. DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. And honestly? We get it. Because when you’re walking mile after mile in the Florida heat, standing in long lines, power-waddling to your Lightning Lane, and trying to pretend your calves aren’t screaming halfway through EPCOT, your shoes stop being a fashion choice and start becoming a survival tool. HOKA Rincon 4 Womens Shoes The bad news is that these are not cheap. These are not your “grab ’em at the last minute and hope for the best” shoes. These are the shoes you buy when you’ve accepted that your feet deserve luxury, even if your snack budget has to take a small emotional hit in the process. So yes, your feet may thank you. Your wallet may need a moment. Your stomach may be furious if this means fewer DOLE Whips. That’s between you, your budget, and whatever spreadsheet keeps your vacation dreams from turning into financial performance art. What shoes do you wear in the parks? Here are the shoes everyone will be wearing to Disney World this summer, whether your bank account likes it or not. HOKA Women’s Clifton 10 If Disney World had an official sneaker of “I came to walk 23,000 steps and still be capable of standing in line for fireworks,” it would probably be a HOKA. The Clifton 10 is one of those shoes that has graduated from trendy running shoe to full-blown park legend. These are plush, neutral shoes made for everyday running and walking, with a breathable upper, lightweight cushioning, and multiple width options. In other words, this thing was built for people who know they’re going to be on their feet all day and would prefer not to feel like they’ve been personally victimized by pavement. Did we mention they have fun colors? And let’s be real, this is peak Disney adult logic. We will absolutely spend real money on a shoe that looks vaguely orthopedic-adjacent if it means we can make it from rope drop to nighttime spectacular without having to sit down on a curb and reevaluate every life choice that led us here. The Clifton 10 is for the person who wants cushion. Not a whisper of comfort. Not a polite nod toward support. Cushion. Plush. Bounce. It’s the shoe equivalent of saying, “No, actually, my feet will be receiving VIP treatment today.” We love our Hokas Is it the cheapest option? Not even a little. Is it beloved for a reason? Unfortunately for our wallets, yes. view ON AMAZON Brooks Women’s Ghost 17 The Brooks Ghost 17 is for the person who wants comfort but maybe doesn’t want to look like they’re wearing moon boots to Magic Kingdom. The Ghost 17 is a longtime favorite with balanced support, added cushioning in the heel and forefoot, and a fit designed for everyday running and walking. Translation: it’s dependable, comfortable, and less flashy than some of the chunkier max-cushion shoes out there. Brooks Ghost 17 This is the sneaker for people who want something supportive without making their shoes the main character of the outfit. It’s giving practical. It’s giving “I did my research.” It’s giving “I would like my arches protected, but I still want to look normal in vacation photos.” And frankly, that’s a strong lane. Brooks If the HOKA Clifton is the dramatic diva of the Disney shoe world, the Brooks Ghost is the reliable best friend who shows up on time, brings sunscreen, and never lets the group spiral. You may not write poetry about it, but you will appreciate it somewhere around hour nine when your feet still feel reasonably attached to your body. This is also a great option for the person who wants a solid park sneaker but isn’t necessarily chasing the ultra-plush, super-stacked feel of some other popular walking shoes. It’s comfort without the theatrical flourish. view ON AMAZON On Women’s Cloudswift Sneakers Then there are the On Cloudswift sneakers, for the Disney person who wants supportive shoes but would prefer not to look like they’re wearing two foam bricks with laces. If HOKAs are the chunky-cushion stars of the park shoe world, the Cloudswift is the sleeker, cooler cousin. The Cloudswift is designed as an everyday running shoe with CloudTec cushioning, a dual-density midsole, and Helion foam for soft landings and a responsive feel. It’s built for city streets, which honestly makes it a pretty natural fit for Disney World’s endless concrete and marathon-level step counts. On Cloudswift Sneakers The big appeal here is that the Cloudswift offers premium support without the ultra-plush, max-cushion feel some parkgoers want. It’s lightweight, polished, and feels a little more streamlined, which makes it a solid choice for anyone who wants comfort without going full marshmallow mode. These are not cheap shoes, but for plenty of Disney fans, that’s the trade-off: spend more now, and maybe avoid your feet staging a full rebellion by dinner. And yes, once again, the expensive shoes are being annoyingly good at their jobs. view ON AMAZON Birkenstock Arizona Now we enter the sandal division. And yes, I know. Sandals at Disney World can feel like a risky choice. One wrong move and you’re out here collecting blisters like limited-edition pins. But the Birkenstock Arizona has been around forever for a reason. Birkenstock calls it an icon of timeless design and legendary comfort, with its original contoured footbed, and notes that the Arizona line has been defining the style since 1973. ©Amazon If you are a Birkenstock person, you are a Birkenstock person. There is no casual middle ground. You have either fully entered the cork-footbed covenant, or you look at these and think, “Those are expensive hippie planks.” Both reactions are valid. But for the converted, these are a Disney World power move. They’re supportive, easy to style, and ideal for the person who would rather not be trapped in sneakers all day in the middle of summer. They also manage to say, “I care about comfort,” while still looking like you made an actual outfit choice and didn’t just surrender to athletic necessity. ©Amazon That said, let me be crystal clear: Disney World is not the place to break in your Birks for the first time. That is clown behavior. That is chaos with a cork sole. If you’re bringing these to the parks, they need to already know your feet on a first-name basis. For the right person, though? These are absolutely a park staple. Especially for resort days, Disney Springs, travel days, or anyone who wants support without a full sneaker commitment. view ON AMAZON Clarks Women’s Arla Kaylie Flip-Flop And now we arrive at the shoe that says, “Yes, I want a flip-flop, but I also want dignity, cushioning, and a fighting chance.” The Clarks Arla Kaylie is not your sad little gas-station flip-flop that gives up halfway through the morning and leaves your feet begging for mercy by lunchtime. Multiple retailer listings describe it with Cushion Soft or OrthoLite cushioning, a lightweight midsole, and a soft toe post, with some versions also noting that it’s machine washable. ©Amazon Now, would I personally recommend this as the only pair you pack for a long, park-heavy trip? That depends on your feet, your tolerance for thong sandals, and your willingness to gamble with destiny. But as part of a rotation? For shorter park days, travel days, pool days, or evenings when your dogs are barking and need a different shoe situation? Absolutely. This is the grown-up flip-flop. The one that has a job, a 401(k), and opinions about arch support. view ON AMAZON So…Which One Should You Actually Buy? That depends on what kind of Disney walker you are. If you want plush, pillowy sneaker energy and you don’t care that everyone and their cousin is also wearing them, go for the HOKA Clifton 10. If you want a more understated sneaker that still brings the comfort, the Brooks Ghost 17 is a very solid choice. If you’re a sandal loyalist and already know Birkenstock’s work for you, the Birkenstock Arizona is still one of the most popular comfort sandals in the game. And if you want a lighter, easier flip-flop option that doesn’t immediately disintegrate into regret, the Clarks Arla Kaylie makes a compelling case. The truth is, these shoes keep coming up because Disney World is not subtle. It is hot, it is huge, and it is extremely committed to making you walk everywhere. You can try to outsmart that with cheap shoes if you want. Plenty of people do. Some of them are probably reading this while soaking their feet in a hotel ice bucket. Brooks Ghost 17s Could you spend less? Sure. Could you also end up limping through World Showcase, wondering whether one more snack is worth the walk back to the Skyliner? Also sure. Sometimes the boring answer is the right answer. Sometimes the same shoes keep getting recommended because they keep doing the job. Annoying? Maybe. Useful? Absolutely. So yes, here we are again. Writing about the shoes everyone wears to Disney World. And next time? We probably will be, too. Because your feet are dramatic. And honestly, they’ve earned it. We’ve got some bad news in the aviation industry, an area that seems to have had a bit of a rough start to this year. United Airlines Wait times for TSA have been hours long across the country and have only just begun returning to normal, and large storms have caused many disruptions in operations throughout the year so far. Now, some aspects of flying could get more expensive as gas prices continue to rise. If you’re flying with United Airlines soon, you need to know that for now, you’ll be paying more for checked bags. According to CNBC, United Airlines became the second airline carrier in the past week to raise checked bag prices in order to combat rising gas prices. United Airlines will now charge an additional $10 per checked bag, making it $45 to check a first bag on most domestic itineraries if paid in advance, and $50 if paid at the airport. ©United Airlines These changes went into effect on April 3rd and are for flights in the U.S., Mexico, Canada, and Latin America. The last time United raised its bag prices was back in February 2024, along with many other airlines. At this time, the other airline that increased bag prices this week was JetBlue, which upped its prices to at least $4 per bag, and as high as $9 per bag, depending on when they add it on. ©JetBlue While it’s expected to see other airlines follow suit, it’s also important to note that there are some factors that can help you avoid these higher baggage fees. Many airline credit cards give passengers a free checked bag when flying domestically, and elite frequent fliers also often get free bags, along with those flying first class. In their price hike statement, United added, “United Chase credit card holders, MileagePlus Premier members, active military members and customers traveling in premium cabins can still check a bag for free, and customers in most markets will still enjoy a $5 discount if they prepay for their bags online 24 hours before their flight.” United Airlines Looking for more recent travel news? Grabbing a dining reservation for your Disney World vacation can be a struggle, but this one tip can help! The Cake Bake Shop in Disney World As a former Cast Member, I know how frustrating it can feel for guests when they can’t find a dining reservation at their favorite restaurant. So I would love to take some stress out of your dining reservations and tell you about this one tip that you can use on your next Disney World vacation. While most restaurants in Disney World can only be booked through My Disney Experience or the Disney World website 60 days in advance, some non-Disney-owned restaurants can be booked through other avenues. A great resource for this is the website/app OpenTable! The BOATHOUSE OpenTable is a popular third-party reservation service for areas around the country, and some outside-owned restaurants in Disney World are available to book through the service. We’ve found that occasionally, when these restaurants are out of availability in Disney’s system, they still have time slots open for that very same day on OpenTable. Summer House on the Lake So which Disney World restaurants can you find on OpenTable? First, there are a LOT of Disney Springs restaurants, which include Summer House on the Lake, Jaleo, The Boathouse, City Works, Wolfgang Puck, The Edison, Maria & Enzo’s, Frontera Cocina, STK, Planet Hollywood, Raglan Road, Terralina Crafted Italian, Paddlefish, Wine Bar George, and Morimoto Asia. Morimoto Asia If you’re heading to the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin hotels, you can book several spots through OpenTable as well. These include Bourbon Steak, Todd English’s bluezoo, Rosa Mexicano, Amare, Il Mulino, and Kimonos. Bourbon Steak Outside of those, there are several other assorted restaurants on OpenTable. You’ll find the very popular The Cake Bake Shop at the BoardWalk, as well as dining locations at the Four Seasons Orlando, JW Marriott, and a few of the Disney Springs area hotels’ restaurants. Breakfast at the Cake Bake Shop Not only is OpenTable a great resource for snagging dining reservations, but it’s also a great way to get the quick guide to these Disney World restaurants. Each restaurant’s page on OpenTable includes the restaurant’s rating, popular menu items, price range, and details like the hours of operation and the address. ©OpenTable So the next time you’re trying to decide where to dine in Disney World, and you’re running out of options on My Disney Experience, try downloading OpenTable and checking out what’s available! We hope this helps take some stress out of grabbing those dining reservations. For more Disney tips, be sure to follow us at DFB! Disney’s Animal Kingdom is known for having some of the best dining options out of the four theme parks, but Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge can’t be forgotten either! Who’s ready to eat some new food? There are so many great spots to eat here, but one of our ultimate favorites is Sanaa. Now, we will say that most of the restaurants here are more suited for adventurous eaters, so picky eaters may have a little more trouble finding something they like, but if you’re looking for some unique eats and aren’t opposed to spice, there are three new menu items you’ve gotta check out! Sanaa is known for having a tasty cuisine that’s a combination of Indian and African flavors. There are three new menu offerings on the menu, and we took a bite of the Tandoori-spiced Chicken Sandwich for $21 first. This is Tandoori-spiced Chicken in Warm Naan with Preserved Lemon Crema, Sweet Peppers, House-made Pickle, and Fresh Coriander. Tandoori-spiced Chicken Sandwich Our server warned us this was going to be a spicy sandwich, and while they weren’t wrong, we felt it was all balanced very well. The chicken itself was spiced and seasoned beautifully and was perfectly juicy. The lemon crema and the fresh coriander help to balance it out with its cooler sensation. We loved the house-made chips too, as they were also perfectly seasoned. We actually chose to use the Cucumber Raita from one of our other dishes to dip them into and loved it, so we recommend asking for a side of it! A delicious sandwich! Next up was the Lamb Kefta Naanwich for $22, which is Seasonal Ground Lamb topped with Pickled Onions and Fresh Herbs on Onion Kulcha with Mango Chutney, Cucumber Raita, and Red Chile Sambal. Lamb Kefta Naanwich This is also a spicier sandwich, but we do feel this one was also balanced very well. The naan was perfectly chewy and tender, and we feel it was the perfect bread for this sandwich, as it held everything together while letting the other ingredients shine. The lamb is beautifully cooked, super tender, and spiced very well. We really loved that the pickled onions helped cut through the rich flavor of the lamb a bit, and we loved the way the arugula basically melted into the sandwich and added a bit of a peppery touch. Cucumber Raita, Red Chile Sambal, and Peach Chutney come with this dish for the chips. The Red Chile Sambal was the spiciest, the Peach Chutney had a pleasant, slight burn, and the Cucumber Raita cooled everything down wonderfully. Another delicious sandwich! Finally, we grabbed the Crowned Crane Black Sesame Entremet for $11, which is Black Sesame Mousse, Chai Tea Caramel, Ras el Hanout Pineapple, and Raspberry. Crowned Crane Black Sesame Entremet This was rich and creamy, and we loved the black sesame flavor of the custard, complete with a nutty finish of the entremet. You’ll want to pick up pieces of the dried raspberry and the pineapple in each bite, and we loved the way the raspberry added a different, crunchy texture and added a bit of tartness. We do think this is a bit of a more adventurous dessert, so we recommend making sure you’re open to both the taste and texture of the black sesame entremet before you grab it!
