Efteling, one of Europe’s most popular theme parks, just confirmed details of a NEW major attraction. ©Efteling Early this year, the park confirmed major changes were coming to the Raveleijn area of the park, which they said would be “completely transformed with a new storyline, decor and impressive show effects,” including a new open-air “rotating flying experience” attraction. Now, the park has released new details on this attraction, Ravenring. Ravenring will be a horizontally rotating wheel in which 36 visitors per ride will take their seats in one of the 18 winged vehicles, inspired by the ravens of Raveleijn. The ride’s storyline revolves around recruiting “new heroes” to continue protecting the city of Raveleijn in the future by taking part in a “flying ritual reserved only for true heroes.” After their flight, guests will discover which of the five magical elements suits them best: blue for water, red for fire, green for wood, brown for earth, and purple for metal. Further details on the attraction include: Riders must be 4-years-old and at least meter (about 3.5 feet) tall. Guests can control how steeply their vehicle flies using a lever in their ride vehicle. Each flight lasts approximately 90 seconds. The ride reaches a maximum height of five meters – about 16.5 feet – and tops out at a top speed of around 40 kilometers – about 25 miles – per hour. Ravenring will be accessible for guests with disabilities, although a transfer is required. The attraction is set to open before the end of 2026. ©Efteling Ravenring will join another new attraction, Hooghmoed, which opened at the park on May 1st. The child-friendly drop tower attraction consists of three towers, each approximately 40 feet tall, and is themed as a companion piece to its neighbor, the gold-mine-themed dive coaster Baron 1898. According to the park, “the tall chimney of the gold smeltery must be cleaned regularly. To reach the chimney, the young chimney sweeps (the attraction’s visitors) take the lift up. Spinning at a height of 9.5 metres, the view is spectacular. But then the Witte Wieven (the Wailing Women) appear and sabotage the ride. A steel cable snaps and the lift plunges several metres down into mist and smoke…” Each of the ride’s towers has a capacity of 10 people, allowing 30 guests per ride, and feature their own ride sequence of approximately 1.5 minutes. Riders must be approximately 2.95 feet tall, and children must be accompanied by an adult approximately 4.3 feet tall. ©Efteling Founded in 1952, Efteling, located in the Netherlands, has become a beloved institution for generations of guests. Theme park aficionados travel from across the continent — and the WORLD — to take in the park’s lush and manicured grounds, as well as dozens of attractions themed to the ancient myths, legends, fairy tales, fables, and folklore of Europe. These new additions are coming at a strong time for Efteling, as the park has consistently been one of Europe’s most popular in recent years, often in the continent’s top 3 most visited parks annually, along with Europa Park in Germany, and even Disneyland Paris. What is it about McDonald’s that is just comforting? Of course, there’s a lot of nostalgia for many of us going to McDonald’s, especially when it comes to Happy Meals, which pretty much defined so much of our childhoods. Happy Meal Happy Meals are also still a thing, and new themes are released all the time. Recently we’ve seen Stranger Things ’85 Happy Meals, Super Mario Galaxy movie Happy Meals, and K-Pop Demon Hunters-themed Happy Meals. Well, get ready, because an all-NEW Happy Meal is coming soon, and it’s going to be VERY popular because Squishmallows are back! That’s right, to celebrate the FIFA World Cup this summer, McDonald’s is releasing a special Happy Meal with Squishmallows on June 9th. Now, the Squishmallows Happy Meals tend to be VERY popular, so you’ll want to try to grab one of the new Happy Meals as soon as you can. These Squishmallows are even wearing jerseys representing the different countries that will be competing for the World Cup. TOO cute. ©McDonald’s McDonald’s hasn’t revealed how long these special World Cup Happy Meals will be available, but the FIFA World Cup runs from June 11th through July 19th, so that might be a good indicator of how long you’ll have to grab one for yourself. Don’t miss out on your dream Disney World dining experience by booking the wrong restaurant! Be Our Guest We know how much thought and care go into planning a Disney World vacation. From picking the perfect hotel to snagging your must-have dining reservations, people can spend countless hours crafting the trip of a lifetime! But what if you build your plans around a particular restaurant only to find out it’s absolutely NOT what you expected?? Here are five Disney World restaurants people keep booking for the WRONG reason! For lots of guests, Character Dining is an essential part of the Disney World experience. After all, what screams “Disney World” more than meeting Mickey WHILE eating a Mickey waffle?? There are restaurants in each of the parks and a few hotels that offer Character Dining experiences…but there are also a few spots we often hear people assume offer Character Meals, when they actually don’t! Here are five Disney World restaurants that AREN’T Character Meals, even though lots of people think they are! Roundup Rodeo BBQ Roundup Rodeo BBQ is a Table Service restaurant located in Toy Story Land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. And we can totally see why people might assume that this is a Character Meal at first! For one, it’s a SUPER immersive atmosphere, themed after a rodeo arena created by Andy himself! Roundup Rodeo BBQ Plus, it FEELS like a more interactive experience since the Cast Members really get into their roles. In fact, you may even experience an “Andy’s Coming” moment! So Much to See! But despite the immersive decor and Cast Member interactions, Roundup Rodeo BBQ is NOT a Character Meal, so you won’t be able to meet any of the Toy Story characters here! Roundup Rodeo BBQ Even though you won’t find the Toy Story characters at this restaurant, Woody, Jessie, and Buzz are typically available throughout the day for character meet-and-greets in Toy Story Land. Be sure to check the My Disney Experience app for the times and locations they’re scheduled on the day of your visit! Hi from Woody and Jessie in Hollywood Studios! If you are in search of a place to have a Character Dining experience during your park day, Hollywood & Vine is the only spot that has a character meal in Hollywood Studios for now. Minnie at Hollywood & Vine Minnie Mouse is the “hostess” of the seasonal dining experiences at Hollywood & Vine, so you can usually meet Minnie, plus Mickey, Pluto, and Goofy! Check Out Our Full Review of Roundup Rodeo BBQ Be Our Guest Restaurant Speaking of restaurants that just “feel” like a Character Meal, Be Our Guest Restaurant in Magic Kingdom literally feels like you’re stepping RIGHT into Beauty and the Beast, with three gorgeous dining rooms inspired by Beast’s castle from the movie! Be Our Guest, West Wing Dining Room There’s the Grand Ballroom (where Belle and the Beast share their iconic dance at the end of the movie), plus the ominous West Wing (home to the enchanted rose!), and the Rose Gallery (a bright, cheerful room dedicated to Belle and the Beast’s romance). Be Our Guest, The Grand Ballroom To be fair, there’s also another good reason, on top of just the immersive design, that people may confuse this spot for a Character Meal. The Beast does typically come out and roam through the dining rooms at various points throughout the meal. But, he DOESN’T stop by the tables to meet with guests and take pictures, so you get a “character sighting” rather than a “character meeting,” like you do at an actual Character Meal. Be Our Guest…where you can see Beast, but not actually get a meet and greet with him Plus, he’s the ONLY character that makes an appearance, so don’t expect to spot any other Beauty and the Beast characters like Belle or Chip roaming around! Beast in Be Our Guest at Disney World If you’re looking for a princess-themed character meal, you can try to book Cinderella’s Royal Table at Magic Kingdom instead. Just beware, this is typically one of the HARDEST reservations to snag, so you’ll have to really be on top of it as soon as your reservation window opens! Ariel at Cinderella’s Royal Table Since Cinderella’s Royal Table can be hard to land, another great princess-themed Character Meal option is Akershus Royal Banquet Hall in EPCOT. Snow White at Akershus You can also find many of the princesses at regular meet-and-greets throughout the parks, especially Magic Kingdom and EPCOT. Check Out Our Full Review of Be Our Guest Restaurant! ‘Ohana (for DINNER) If you thought having a character appear but not meet guests was confusing, wait until we get into our next few restaurants! ‘Ohana is the super-popular Hawaiian-style restaurant at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. ‘Ohana is home to the Best Friends Breakfast, an all-you-care-to-eat Character Meal where guests can typically meet Lilo, Stitch, Mickey, and Pluto. Lilo at ‘Ohana But, there’s an essential caveat — the characters appear at breakfast ONLY! That’s right, NO characters will appear during dinner at ‘Ohana! This can understandably catch people off guard, since the question of “is this a Character Meal?” depends on WHICH meal — breakfast or dinner — you’re talking about. Characters at Breakfast ONLY! If you can’t snag a breakfast reservation at ‘Ohana, Stitch often appears in Tomorrowland at Magic Kingdom, so you can try to spot him in the park instead. And Mickey and Pluto make appearances all over, so just keep an eye on the app for a meet-and-greet that works for your schedule! Stitch! If you’re on the hunt for another nearby Character Meal option, Chef Mickey’s at Disney’s Contemporary Resort has visits from Mickey and friends at both breakfast AND dinner! Cape May Cafe (for DINNER) Now that we’ve gone over the confusion at ‘Ohana, hopefully this info about dinner at Cape May Cafe will be easier to swallow (no pun intended). Like ‘Ohana, Cape May Cafe at Disney’s Beach Club Resort DOES have a Character Meal for breakfast. It’s called “Minnie’s Beach Bash Breakfast” and features appearances from various characters, which can include Minnie, Donald, Daisy, and Goofy. Daisy at Cape May Cafe But, also like ‘Ohana, there are NO characters at Cape May Cafe for dinner! With that being said, dinner at Cape May Cafe might still be a big draw for seafood fans, since it includes all-you-can-eat surf-and-turf. But if it’s the characters your heart is set on, dinner at Cape May Cafe isn’t the place to go! Cape May Cafe plate from the dinner buffet The good news is, since the characters featured here are Minnie and friends, you can find them in plenty of places around the parks if you missed out on the character breakfast. Just remember to — you guessed it — check your My Disney Experience app to see where and when you can find character meet-and-greets in whichever park you’re visiting that day! Mickey and Minnie meeting in EPCOT We’ll also give another mention to Chef Mickey’s at Disney’s Contemporary Resort if you’re looking for a character dinner with a similar lineup. Topolino’s Terrace (for DINNER) Rounding out our list, we have Topolino’s Terrace — Flavors of the Riviera, located at Disney’s Riviera Resort. Once again, you will find a prix fixe Character Breakfast here, called Breakfast à la Art with Mickey & Friends. It’s a fun way to start your day with awesome views from the rooftop restaurant and visits from Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Daisy in art-inspired costumes! Minnie at Topolino’s Terrace But, keeping with the trend, dinner at Topolino’s Terrace is NOT a Character Meal! Instead, you’ll find an elegant signature dining experience with gorgeous views thanks to the rooftop location. You can even see the EPCOT fireworks if you’ve got a later dinner! EPCOT Fireworks from Topolino’s Terrace With its fancy vibes and stellar views, dinner at Topolino’s Terrace is a perfect spot for an elegant date night or an elevated dining experience. Just keep in mind, you won’t see any characters during dinner! Tramonto Cocktail at Topolino’s Terrace If you’re in search of a nearby character meal, you could book a reservation for Garden Grill in EPCOT, which is just a Skyliner trip away! Garden Grill Food with Living With the Land in the Background! The vibes aren’t as fancy as Topolino’s Terrace, but Garden Grill also offers unique character costumes and cool views into Living with the Land as the restaurant slowly rotates during your meal! Pixar’s latest film, Hoppers, has a Disney+ release date, and it’s only a few weeks away! ©Disney Hoppers was released to critical and commercial success in March, and Disney has now confirmed that the film will join the Disney+ streaming library on June 3rd. Hoppers tells the story of Animal-lover Mabel, who “seizes an opportunity to use a new technology to ‘hop’ her consciousness into a lifelike robotic beaver and communicate directly with animals. As she uncovers mysteries in the animal world beyond anything she could have imagined, Mabel must rally the entire animal kingdom to face a major imminent human threat.” ©Disney The Daniel Chong-directed film stars Piper Curda as Mabel, Bobby Moynihan as King George the beaver, Jon Hamm as Mayor Jerry Generazzo, Kathy Najimy as Dr. Samantha “Sam” Fairfax, Dave Franco as Titus the butterfly, Eduardo Franco as Loaf the beaver, Aparna Nancherla, Sam Richardson, Melissa Villaseñor, Isiah Whitlock Jr., Steve Purcell, Ego Nwodim, Vanessa Bayer, and Meryl Streep as the Insect Queen. A Hoppers maquette on display. Released theatrically on March 6th, Hoppers was called a “return to form” for Pixar, certainly from a reaction standpoint. The film was successful critically (currently 94% Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes) and with audiences (holding a 93% audience score on the same site). We love vacationing on Disney cruises. You can get your daily dose of Disney magic without needing to fuss over Lightning Lanes, dining reservations, or crowds in the theme parks! We love Disney cruises! But Disney Cruise Line just released seven new rules that will make Disney cruises look totally different. Starting on June 3rd, these new rules will impact so many cruise traditions! For decades, cruise passengers have decorated their stateroom doors with fun magnets and accessories. One of our favorite Disney Cruise Line traditions is walking around the ship and seeing all of the fun decor. But starting on June 3rd, Disney is enacting new rules that severely limit the types of door decorations allowed. Soon, door decorations can only be placed on the stateroom door itself – they won’t be allowed on corridor walls or ceilings. Door decorations can’t be on walls anymore! Disney has also stated that tape, glue, and other adhesives can’t be used to decorate your door, as they can damage the door’s finish. Decorations should be magnets only! In addition, door decorations should not play sound, music, or videos, as they can disturb guests. Disney Cruise Door Magnets For the last new rule on door decorating, Disney has asked that guests not place anything valuable on their doors. Disney Cruise Line is not liable for the damage or loss of items left on the doors. In other words, unless you’re ok to part with it, don’t leave it out! We’ll be guarding these plushies with our lives! Inside your stateroom, Disney Cruise Line has now prohibited over-the-door hanging organizers. This presumably applies to both the front door and other doors inside the stateroom, including the bathroom and closet doors. According to Disney, over-the-door hanging organizers can cause scratches or other damage to stateroom doors and trim. Closet on the Disney Treasure Disney Cruise Line will also change their alcohol policy starting on June 3rd. Currently, passengers can bring two wine bottles on board, but this will be reduced to one wine bottle or six beers per guest. These must be packed in your carry-on bag that you physically carry on the ship, not a checked bag! Wine bottles in EPCOT While Disney Cruise Line has limited the number of alcoholic drinks passengers can bring onboard, it will soon be cheaper to consume them. If you bring wine or sparkling wine onboard and want to drink it in the dining room, the corkage fee has decreased from $29 to $20! In case you missed it, Disney recently confirmed a classic attraction is getting a MAJOR overhaul. After years of waiting, the Carousel of Progress is changing. ©Disney Previously, Disney confirmed that a scene with a brand-new Walt Disney animatronic would be added. Now, they’ve confirmed that EVERY scene is changing in the Tomorrowland show. With some time to process the changes, we’re here to share Disney fans’ biggest thoughts and feelings about the updates. The Carousel of Progress will be closing on July 6th, 2026, to begin the big overhaul of this rotating theater show. Disney shared that they hope audiences will be able to connect with the new scenes and new eras. They’ve confirmed they’re revisiting the music, fashion, technology, and experiences that John and his family will have in the updated show. ©Disney Act 1 will feature the 1960s, which is when the Carousel of Progress first opened at the 1964 World’s Fair. In the summer of 1969, the Carousel family gathered around the television to witness the historic moon landing! Disney has shared this scene will capture the “spirit of innovation and possibility that has always been — and always will be — at the heart of Carousel of Progress.” Carousel of Progress In Act 2, we’ll be going to the 1980s! On Halloween night in 1985, Sarah will take center stage as she shares all about how the new appliances and gadgets are making life easier for the whole family. John is out on the porch handing out candy to trick-or-treaters, and poor Uncle Orville will still be in the bathroom with “no privacy at all around here!” Carousel of Progress In Act 3, we’re checking out the new millennium as the 1990s are ending. The family will be together to ring in the New Year in 1999. The Internet is bringing John, Sarah, Jimmy, and Patty closer together than ever before. Of course, Grandpa has already nodded off, so Grandma changes the TV over to wrestling when no one is looking. Finally, Act 4 will feature a possible future! They’ll be in a home that’s out of this world. The off-planet scene features a helpful robot assisting with everyday tasks, along with space travel, and imagines a future where extraordinary innovation has become part of life. ©Disney While we are pretty excited about the upcoming changes, fans online have some big feelings! On our Instagram and Facebook, we have been combing through the comments to see how YOU feel too. Just like any big announcement, there are feelings both positive and negative, about the announcement. A neutral moment came from Brian Ricci on Facebook, who wrote, “The 80s better have brown paneling everywhere and a tv entertainment set on the floor.” This seriously made us giggle! Carousel of Progress Gene Gorter wrote, “For nostalgia reasons, I always loved that attraction, but I also just think it’s such a great concept showing how lives have changed over the years. But of course, given that the attraction first opened 60 years ago, it’s been hard for them to keep it as relevant. So I’m very pleased they’re gonna refurbish it in this way instead of just turning it into a DVC lounge or something.” This is an opinion we can get behind! The Carousel! “I think they need to keep everything they currently have and add some updated new things at the end. Please do not delete the OG stuff,” wrote Jamie Hojnoski. We’re sorry to say Jamie might be a bit disappointed. Carol Williams Chambers wrote, “So history doesn’t matter? Not happy at all.” On Instagram, @jpod02 shared, “They took my mountain, they took my test track… now they’re taking my carousel.” Carousel of Progress @michele_diehl said, “Stop ruining the old stuff.” Safe to say, he isn’t too excited just yet. @diybratt shared their thoughts by saying, “Disney has lost the plot. It’s a show about progress how things didn’t exist and people decided to invent things we know today as common like AC, phones, airplanes, electric, refrigerators etc. seeing the world before our comfort. This is one of Walt’s babies he worked so hard on it. Truly so sad to see how some of Walt’s projects are getting “minor” refurbishments. I get it’s progress and things change all the time, but this one seems like it should be left alone.” This comment got 507 likes on our Instagram. A NEW Disney Vacation Club Resort hotel is coming to Disney World in the summer of 2027! Lakeshore Lodge With SO MUCH happening at Disney World right now, from new lands to major ride retheming, it can be hard to keep up with all of the massive projects in the works! For example, did you know that Disney World’s brand-new hotel Disney Lakeshore Lodge is scheduled to open next year?? If you feel like this new addition has slipped under your radar so far, no worries — we’re doing a deep dive on Lakeshore Lodge, including a close-up look at the concept art AND an update on the current construction progress! What is Disney Lakeshore Lodge? Lakeshore Lodge is a new Disney Vacation Club Resort hotel that will be located on Disney World’s Bay Lake. Disney has shared that the hotel will “celebrate the beauty and magic of nature as seen through the eyes of Disney artists and storytellers.” ©Disney The hotel will include subtle nods to classic films, like the forests of Bambi, the colorful winds of Pocahontas, and the sweeping landscapes of Brother Bear. The natural theming of the hotel will begin before guests even enter, as they’ll be greeted with a one-mile tree-lined vista before seeing the Lodge itself. Disney has said that this kind of “grand expression” will be carried out through the porte-cochere, as well as the lobby, with a clear focus on nature, complete with skylights and lots of glass. ©Disney Lakeshore Lodge will offer 967 guest rooms, ranging from “cozy studios to spacious suites.” New one- and two-bedroom Lake Houses will also be located along the waterfront. Many of the rooms throughout the resort will feature a view of Bay Lake, with some also getting views of the Magic Kingdom fireworks at night! A frame cabins Lakeshore Lodge will be considered a Magic Kingdom Area Resort, and so far, Disney has confirmed that the hotel will have a dedicated boat dock for transportation between Lakeshore Lodge and Magic Kingdom. Concept Art for Lakeshore Lodge Disney has shared several pieces of concept art for Lakeshore Lodge that have given us some clues as to what we can expect with the finished product. This gives a better picture of the scale, showing how large the resort will be! Plus, it also shows some of the unique details of the hotel, upon closer view… ©Disney By zooming in on this image, we spotted what appears to be a new restaurant on the hotel grounds, which seems like it’ll have incredible views of the water from the tables closest to the windows. ©Disney It also looks like there will be a relaxing area between the main pool and the lake itself, with hammocks, circular bed-like options, as well as…is that a whole couch? ©Disney And, of course, we can see a large pool with a spiral slide and a lazy river! This seems to be the hotel’s main pool area, although it will likely have other “quiet pool(s)” as is common with Disney World hotels. ©Disney In fact, we even saw what looks like a second pool area peeking out between two of the building wings in the concept art. ©Disney Things are subject to change during construction, so things might not turn out exactly like the concept art by the time the hotel opens. But it does give us a fairly good idea of what to expect for features and overall layout! Now, let’s take a look at where things stand with construction… Lakeshore Lodge Construction Progress Since Lakeshore Lodge is being built on Bay Lake, some of the construction progress is visible from the lake itself, so you might spot it if you’re taking boat transportation near Magic Kingdom! Things are changing constantly in Disney World these days. Disney Springs New rides, reimagined lands, updates at restaurants, and new entertainment offerings. There’s so much to see and do, but sometimes we have to say goodbye to things we used to love! And now, we’ve got an update about a closing dining offering at Disney Springs. During a recent visit to Disney Springs, we confirmed that the food trucks currently available on the West Side will be closing permanently at the end of the day on June 7th. This area has been home to a variety of food trucks over the years, serving everything from juice to healthy fare to tacos in cones. Food trucks As these are outside businesses, you may still be able to visit them in other locations off Disney property. Disney hasn’t announced what will happen to the courtyard that the trucks currently occupy, so we’ll make sure to check it out once the trucks have been removed. Gonna say goodbye! If you want to grab any of the snacks currently available, you’ll only have a few days to do so! This area is located directly next to Summer House on the Lake and the West Side Starbucks, across from popular spots like the Marvel and Star Wars stores. It’s fairly valuable real estate, so we hope Disney decides to add something new in place of the food trucks. Japan Pavilion A NEW food item has hit one of the Japan Pavilion’s most popular restaurants in EPCOT! Here’s what you need to know before you go! Shiki-Sai: Sushi Izakaya has added a new Wagyu dish to their menu: the Japanese A5 Wagyu Roast Beef served with Shinryoku sauce. The Shinryoku sauce is inspired by Japan’s season of fresh greenery and blends yuzu with spicy jalapeño for that perfect balance of fresh and heat. Shiki-Sai This item is not listed on their online menu, so as of now, we’re not sure how much this new dish will cost. If you have ever visited Disney World or have plans to visit Disney World, you’re probably familiar with the My Disney Experience app, which lets you do just about…well…everything you need to do in Disney World. My Disney Experience App The app can let you check into your hotel, act as your room key, book your Lightning Lanes, give you wait time information, give you entertainment schedules, and SO much more. Well, the My Disney Experience app is about to get even MORE helpful for Disney World trip planning. According to Scott Gustin, Disney will be rolling out some new app and website updates over the next few weeks and months to take some of the stress out of Disney World vacation planning. These updates will include a trip checklist, an AI-powered search, and updated booking tools. Magic Kingdom The idea is to make planning a Disney World trip easier, as well as making booking a trip easier, and helping you be more prepared before you ever set foot on Disney World property. Disney executives spoke about these changes and how they’re coming after listening to guest feedback, especially around difficulties guests experience when trying to navigate the My Disney Experience app. EPCOT Disney recently combined “Today’s Plans” and “Future Plans” into a single “My Plans” section on the app. You can also now make park pass reservations directly within the app. Disney has also updated the dining reservations search so that it’s easier to find a restaurant and make a reservation. Checking into your hotel via the app has also become more streamlined. Disney’s Hollywood Studios Now, the app will get a redesigned home page so that it’s easier to find the information you’re looking for, like your trip details, reservations, travel parties, and planning reminders. The homepage will be organized more around your actual vacation. A new trip checklist feature will keep you from forgetting things like Lightning Lane booking windows, dining reservations, hotel check-in, and more. The app’s search feature will be improved via AI. Disney also plans on making trip sharing a lot easier. Disney’s Animal Kingdom DisneyWorld.com will also be getting similar updates, including flexible date searching for bigger timeframes, calendars that let you compare pricing, tools to compare hotels, transportation information, estimated travel time to parks, and more. Rainy Day in Magic Kingdom You’ve got to check the weather before you pack for your trip so you know what you need to pack. AccuWeather has announced a new partnership with Disney to provide more accurate weather forecasting and enhanced offerings for Disney Experiences destinations. “Disney Weather Check, powered by AccuWeather, delivers impactful, actionable weather intelligence through a customized mobile app and global enterprise platform. Guests visiting Disney parks and resorts can now access customized weather information by downloading the Disney Weather Check powered by AccuWeather mobile app.” Rainy Disney Springs This new app addition allows access to real-time weather updates and location-specific notifications. Disney World packing lists are getting weirder by the day. Magic Kingdom’s Cinderella Castle Between the Florida heat, random downpours, and marathon-length park days, people are finding some seriously unconventional ways to survive a vacation that can easily turn sweaty and uncomfortable by noon. We’ve spent plenty of time testing products that sounded ridiculous at first glance, only to discover a few genuinely useful surprises along the way. Some of these items absolutely earned a spot in our park bag rotation. Others? We’re still trying to emotionally recover from the experience. Here are four of the strangest Disney World essentials we’ve tested lately, including one product that completely shocked us in the best way possible. This Looks Completely Ridiculous Until the Heat Index Hits 103 Outdoor Wide Brim Hat Fan The Outdoor Wide Brim Sun Hat with 2 Solar Fans immediately earns points for being one of the oddest things we’ve ever worn in Disney World. The second you put it on, you become very aware that you’re walking around with tiny fans attached to your head. But once the Florida sun starts cooking the pavement in EPCOT, the idea suddenly makes a whole lot more sense. What it looks like inside What surprised us most was how customizable the airflow was. The dual fans can alternate or run simultaneously, and they’re removable for charging or packing away. The wide brim also gives excellent sun protection, which matters more than ever during summer park days. That said, the cooling effect works best indoors or in shaded areas. Outside in the thick humidity, you’re mostly circulating hot air around your face. We also wish the fans snapped more securely into place because they felt a little loose while walking around. Don’t be surprised if you see us wearing this in the parks Take a look at it before your next park day. view ON AMAZON Your Wet Sneakers Are About to Ruin the Entire Trip Silicone Waterproof Shoe Covers The Silicone Waterproof Shoe Covers sounded like a complete gimmick before we tested them. Then Florida unleashed one of those classic afternoon downpours, and suddenly these weird little rubber covers became heroes. The biggest shock here is that they actually work. Slip them over your shoes, zip them up, and your sneakers stay surprisingly dry while everyone else is squishing around Adventureland with soaked socks. Considering how often it rains in Disney World, these can save you from dealing with damp shoes for the rest of your vacation. We’d strongly recommend sizing up if you’re between sizes because the zipper area can feel tight otherwise. Easy does it! They’re not perfect, though. If rain starts hitting your legs directly, water can still trickle down into the opening at the top. They’re also slippery on certain surfaces, so you definitely need to be careful indoors or on slick tile. Even with those drawbacks, this was the one product we went from laughing at to genuinely considering for every future trip. Honestly, this might be the strangest must-buy on the list. Grab a pair for your rainy season Disney vacation. view ON AMAZON This Felt Less Like a Hotel Upgrade and More Like a Medical Experiment Disposable Bed Sheets The Disposable Bed Sheets for Hotel set sounded like one of those products that could either be genius or deeply unsettling. Unfortunately, this one landed firmly in the unsettling category. The set comes with disposable pillowcases, bed sheets, towels, and even a disposable comforter cover. In theory, it’s designed for travelers who want an extra layer of cleanliness in hotel rooms. In practice, the material felt alarmingly similar to the paper coverings at a doctor’s office or dentist’s chair. The texture, the smell, the crinkling sound, all of it created an experience that was somehow both sterile and stressful. Disposable Bed Sheets The towel technically worked, but it felt like drying off with an oversized reusable paper towel. The sheets themselves were incredibly thin and awkward to set up, especially when trying to fit them around hotel bedding. One pillowcase even tore while we were putting it on. Instead of making the room feel cleaner or more relaxing, the entire setup made bedtime weirdly uncomfortable. It’s a no from us We appreciate the concept behind these, especially for travelers focused on sanitation, but the execution just isn’t there. Disney hotel beds are already pretty comfortable, and this product somehow managed to make them feel less cozy. By midday, your back feels like it’s been wrapped in a heating pad, and the straps start digging into your shoulders. That’s exactly why the Lightweight Ventilation Backpack Spacer ended up impressing us way more than expected. VentaPak Lightweight Ventilation Backpack Spacer This attachment creates a gap between your backpack and your back, which dramatically improves airflow while redistributing weight more evenly. It sounds simple, but the difference is honestly noticeable. We tested it on long park days, and the reduction in back sweat alone made it feel worth considering. It also helped relieve shoulder and back pain after carrying a heavier bag all day. VentaPak in Disney World There are a couple of trade-offs. You have to tighten your backpack straps more than usual for it to work properly, which can make your shoulders and armpits warmer. It also makes taking the backpack on and off a little clunky. But once you’re walking around the parks for hours, those annoyances start feeling minor compared to the relief it provides. This one especially makes sense for parents carrying giant park bags or anyone dealing with back pain during Disney trips. You might need to make some adjustments when planning your 2027 trip to Disney World! Disney’s Animal Kingdom If there’s one thing we’ve learned during our decades of Disney World experience, it’s that things are CONSTANTLY changing! On the plus side, that means there are typically plenty of new and exciting things to do, even if you’ve been to the parks hundreds of times. But, it also sometimes means that even some tried-and-true planning traditions need to evolve with the changes! Let’s take a look at three Disney World planning traditions that are canceled in 2027! Free Water Park Entry Perk for the Campsites at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort One of the best parts of staying at an official Disney resort is getting to take advantage of the Disney World hotel perks offered during your stay! In recent years, Disney has offered a Free Water Park Entry perk during select times of the year (in 2026, it’s available from May 26th to September 8th). Typhoon Lagoon When the perk is available, it gives Disney hotel guests free admission to one of Disney World’s water parks on the day they check in to the resort. It’s a great way to start out your vacation on a fun note at either Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon with no extra cost! Blizzard Beach Disney has confirmed that the Free Water Park Entry perk is returning in 2027…but there’s a catch! The annoucement on Disney’s website says, “This benefit will also be available for Guests staying at an eligible Resort hotel in summer 2027, excluding the Campsites at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort. Stay tuned for more information and dates.” Blizzard Beach We’re excited that most Disney World hotel guests will still get to cash in on this perk next summer, but remember that you won’t get free water park entry on your arrival day if you stay at the Campsites at Fort Wilderness. We’ll be on the lookout for the specific dates of the perk as 2027 gets closer, so stay tuned for more info! Planning a Half Day in Disney’s Animal Kingdom When chatting about Disney World vacation plans with friends, family, strangers in line at the grocery store, etc., we constantly hear people say that they’re only going to spend a half day in Disney’s Animal Kingdom since it has the fewest rides of all the parks at the moment. Disney’s Animal Kingdom We could personally spend hours upon hours just exploring the animal trails and incredible details throughout the park before even getting to a single attraction, but for guests with shorter trips, we totally get that cuts need to be made somewhere! However, if you’re typically someone who only does a half day at Animal Kingdom — or skips it entirely — you might want to reconsider that in 2027. Pandora at night The brand new Tropical Americas-themed land, Pueblo Esperanza, is scheduled to open at Animal Kingdom in 2027, featuring attractions inspired by Encanto and Indiana Jones! Overview of Pueblo Esperanza coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom The signature attractions in the new land will include an Encanto ride featuring the Madrigal family and a new Indiana Jones adventure ride. Plus, there will also be a new carousel featuring familiar Disney characters, for THREE new rides in total! ©Disney || Tropical Americas Land coming to Animal Kingdom The new land is currently under construction in the area that formerly housed DinoLand, U.S.A., and Disney has said that it will open to guests in 2027. With that in mind, you might want to build extra Animal Kingdom time into your 2027 Disney World plans so you can explore Pueblo Esperanza! Model of Madrigal’s Casita Disney hasn’t given a specific opening date for Pueblo Esperanza yet, only that it will be in 2027, but of course, we’ll keep you updated as soon as the opening timeline is narrowed down! Take a Deep Dive Into Pueblo Esperanza Here! Rationing Dining Plan Table Service Credits This one’s for the Disney Dining Plan fans! In 2026, there are two versions of the Disney Dining Plan available to meet different budgets and dining preferences. The Quick Service Dining Plan comes with two quick service meals and one snack per day per person, plus a refillable mug. And the Table Service Dining Plan comes with one table service meal, one quick service meal, and one snack per day per person, plus a refillable mug. Disney Dining Plan symbols But, if you’ve got expensive taste, you might need to be careful about how you spend those credits on the Table Service Dining Plan! Many table service restaurants only require one credit per meal, but some restaurants take TWO table service credits. These include signature dining locations, dinner shows, and other popular spots like Cinderella’s Royal Table, Akershus Royal Banquet Hall — Princess Storybook Dining, and Story Book Dining with Snow White at Artist Point. It’s TWO Table Service Credits to Dine at Cinderella’s Royal Table! With the current Table Service Dining Plan, if most (or all) of the restaurants on your must-do list are places that take two table service credits, you’ll have to plan accordingly and skip table service meals on some days to save up your credits. But that won’t be the case in 2027! Storybook Dining at Artist Point The Deluxe Table Service Dining Plan is available to book with 2027 vacation packages, and it includes TWO table service credits per day, plus one quick service credit, one snack, and a refillable resort mug! (In other words, the same items as the regular Table Service Dining Plan, but with two table service credits per day instead of just one.) California Grill If you’ve been rationing those table service credits on your Dining Plan this year, the introduction of the Deluxe Table Service Dining Plan in 2027 will have you covered! Will you be celebrating the 4th of July in Disney World? Because, well, there’s nothing like celebrating a holiday in The Most Magical Place on Earth, right? ©Jeff Krause Well, you might be aware that Magic Kingdom has special fireworks on the 4th of July, although this year, you’ll have three opportunities to see those fireworks, on the 3rd, 4th, AND 5th of July. Well, if you don’t want to deal with the crowds in Magic Kingdom, you can also see some special 4th of July fireworks in EPCOT…and this year, you’ll also have three chances to see those, too. The Heartbeat of Freedom fireworks show is a special addition to EPCOT’s regular nighttime show, Luminous: The Symphony of Us. These special fireworks usually only run for two nights, but this year, the fireworks finale will run for the entirety of the 4th of July weekend, on July 3rd, 4th, and 5th. Luminous Although many folks will crowd Magic Kingdom for the fireworks there, EPCOT may be the better park for celebrating the 4th of July. First, you’ve got the special Soarin’ Across America running for America’s 250th birthday. Plus, the American Adventure Pavilion often features your favorite characters dressed up in patriotic outfits. The fireworks finale to EPCOT’s nighttime show is the cherry on top. Soarin’ Across America Now, you’ll have three opportunities over the holiday weekend to celebrate. And if you’re visiting both EPCOT and Magic Kingdom during that time, you can see two separate rare fireworks shows in one weekend! When we’re at Disneyland, the Disneyland app is a lifesaver. Where else can you check ride wait times, mobile order food, and find the bathrooms all in one place? ©Disney While using our Disneyland app recently, we noticed a brand-new addition. Now, you can view guides to the lands in the park! When we were recently using the Disneyland app, we were able to view a land and see new guides for each land! ToonTown was the first land that came up, so we could see an overview of the land and a little bit about it. ©Disney There was also a list of ride wait times and height requirements for every ride in the land. We’re pretty sure this is just in testing since not all of us had the feature on our apps, which would explain why the ride times aren’t posted. If it becomes permanent, this would be an awesome feature if it’s your first time at Disneyland with kids! ©Disney We also found a Dining section! It listed every restaurant in ToonTown and even showed when mobile ordering was available. This will be a lifesaver during a lunch or dinner rush! ©Disney This new feature isn’t limited to ToonTown; you can also see a guide for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge! Like ToonTown, there’s a full list of attractions and dining information. But we noticed something new in here – you can see the locations of all the shops in the land! ©Disney Plus, there’s also a tab for Iconic Characters. With one click, you can see the next time for every Galaxy’s Edge character! No more switching between tabs or manually searching for them. ©Disney We loved using these guides in our app, and we hope Disney makes it a permanent feature. Universal Epic Universe opened just one year ago, and plans for its expansion are already underway! Gate at Epic Universe We knew that the park had been built with room to add on new lands or attractions in the future, but recently, we’ve been seeing more proof of additions coming. Construction has been taking place on some of the park’s expansion pads, but now, a permit has been filed for a new attraction! A permit was filed on April 28th, 2026 for a site work at Epic Universe. It’s classified as a “special project” and expires on November 6th, 2026. The permit itself is fairly vague about what work would be done, but as you dig deeper, there’s an important detail hidden. ©Universal After the initial submission, the permit was reviewed and comments were made. One of those comments requested clarification about the location of the construction work. In these follow-up notes, it’s confirmed that the project will take place in building 1570. ©Universal Do you know what’s interesting about building 1570? Well, the 1500 buildings are all located in Dark Universe. This permit is part of project 680 which is a new attraction planned for the park. So put all that together…does this mean we’re getting a NEW attraction in Dark Universe? We think so! ©Universal Currently, Darkmoor has two attractions — Curse of the Werewolf and Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment. It would be very exciting to get another new ride or offering in this land, as it has become a fan favorite since the opening of the park. Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment Of course, we’ll be keeping a close eye on the permits for this new project and we’ll look out for any visible construction.
