  1. For locals, or those who aspire to visit as often as one, the Walt Disney World Annual Passholder and Disneyland Resort Magic Key programs create opportunities to experience the Disney magic over and over again. Long-time passholders say they love the chance to visit frequently, discounts, and other benefits. What they like most, they say, is the traditions and memories annual passes make possible. Two planDisney panelists share their families’ stories. A Purchase that Becomes a Decades-Long Family Tradition From Wilma Norton, a Walt Disney World Annual Passholder The decision to buy our first Walt Disney World annual passes in August 1997 came down to the value and flexibility they offered our family. As we planned a five-night visit to celebrate our daughter’s fifth birthday, the Florida Resident annual pass gave us the chance to enjoy multiple park days and keep the magic going with future visits. It must have been a good decision—we’re still annual passholders today. We figured we would visit a few more days in the months ahead and get the most for our money. Oh, were we right! During the rest of 1997 and through our second daughter’s first Walt Disney World visit as a 2-month-old in August 1998, we spent something like 20 more days in the theme parks. We’ve never looked back. We have been passholders almost every year since and estimate that we have visited the theme parks more than 600 days. As Florida residents who live about 90 minutes away, we love the flexibility an annual pass gives us, plus the convenience of monthly payment options available exclusively to Florida residents. We’ve had several versions of annual passes through the years, always choosing the one that was best for our family’s schedule at the time. All annual passes offer the benefits we appreciate most: ability to park hop; resort, merchandise, recreation and other discounts; and included standard parking. How We Maximize our Annual Pass: Wake up on Saturday morning in an EPCOT mood? Off we go. Birthday or anniversary? We use our passholder discount to book a resort room and a celebration dinner. Want to see all the holiday decorations in the four theme parks? We call our passholder friends and meet up for a four-parks-in-one-day tour using our park hopper benefit. Out-of-state friends or family at Walt Disney World? Sure, we’d love to join you and show you all our favorite Disney things. New ride or attraction opening? We’re there for the passholder preview when available. The main difference between the Pixie Dust, Pirate, Sorcerer, and Incredi-Pass is the number of days you can access the parks. Florida residents can choose from all four pass types, while guests who live outside of Florida may purchase the Incredi-Pass. After our daughters were grown, my husband and I upgraded to the Sorcerer Pass, which allows us admission to the parks more than 350 days a year. While park reservations are required on many days, Annual Passholders also have opportunities to visit without one, such as on select Good-to-Go Days or when entering the parks after 2 p.m. (except Saturdays and Sundays at Magic Kingdom). When we bought those first annual passes back in 1997, we had no idea how much Walt Disney World and the friends and memories we would make there would mean to us over the next three decades – as parents of young children, then empty-nesters and a retiree. Disney magic, indeed! Unlocking the Magic Key Program From David Quintanilla, a Magic Key Holder Growing up, our family’s visits to Disneyland Resort felt sporadic (at least to my kid brain). I have a distinct memory of spotting the Matterhorn from the freeway and asking my dad when we would be back. “One of these days,” he’d say. As an adult, I decided I wanted “one of these days” to come around as often as possible. Thanks to the Magic Key annual pass program, it does. The Magic Key program is the annual passholder offering at Disneyland Resort, designed to unlock an entire year of magic. Key holders enjoy reservation-based admission to both Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park and can hop between the two parks during their visit, plus enjoy discounts and special experiences sprinkled throughout the year. With four different pass levels available, families can choose the Key that best fits their visit style and schedule. The program currently includes the Inspire Key, Believe Key, the newer Explore Key, and (for Southern California residents) the Imagine Key. Each level offers its own collection of perks, but all Keys include discounts on food and merchandise, which is great when snacking in the parks or shopping while visiting. Key holders also enjoy access to unique dining items, merchandise, photo opportunities, and special events. For example, during the 25th anniversary celebration of Disney California Adventure park, Magic Key holders were invited to an extra experience featuring backdrops celebrating the history of the park and Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse dressed in their original opening-day outfits! My wife and I have been lifelong fans of Disneyland, and our monthly visits have become a meaningful way to relax and reconnect, especially while enjoying a peaceful afternoon loop on the Disneyland Railroad. She’s a teacher in our Northern California town, which means our travel windows are typically weekends and school holidays. For us, the Inspire Key has been the perfect fit since its introduction, allowing us to plan visits during those peak times with confidence. Between our regular monthly trips and our annual week-long adventures with our daughters, the pass has more than justified itself. And honestly, knowing we have time set aside to wander, decompress, and share a plate of fried pickles at Carnation Café makes it feel priceless. The Magic Key program makes it possible to keep the magic of Disneyland just one reservation away, throughout the year. Whether someone hopes to explore both parks from rope drop to closing, pop in for a quick ride on the Haunted Mansion, or linger over sunset views at Lamplight Lounge, the flexibility is there. With a Key that matches nearly every visit style, it truly feels like having “one of these days” whenever you need it. If you have more Disney vacation planning questions, visit us a planDisney.com. 2. In case you’ve missed it, Bluey has taken over Disneyland! The massively popular children’s TV character and her family have arrived, and they’ve brought some serious excitement with them. Bluey’s Best Day Ever If you’re planning on heading into Disneyland Park soon to party with Bluey and Bingo, you should know show times for Bluey’s Best Day Ever! have changed. We don’t want you to be caught unaware and experience a kiddo meltdown, so we’ve got all of the information right here. Bluey’s Best Day Ever! is the hottest ticket in Fantasyland these days! (Don’t worry, there’s not an extra ticket — you only need your Disneyland Park admission). This is a live show in the Fantasyland Theater (near the entrance to Mickey’s Toontown) that features Bluey, Bingo, live dancers, and more. Bluey’s Best Day Ever! The crowds for this show’s opening day were absolutely wild (which we were blown away by). There are two different shows you can experience — one is a story time, and the other is a game show. They traditionally alternate throughout the day. In the first few days of the show’s opening, there wasn’t much room to dance and play because the theater was so packed. Look at all the people! The show has continued to be popular, and now, they’re changing up the show times! Starting on April 26th, there will still be 5 show times a day. They will be at 11 AM, 12:20 PM, 1:40 PM, 3:20 PM, and 4:40 PM. We’re super pleased to see that they aren’t cutting a show, especially because it’s so popular. Bluey’s Best Day Ever Currently, the show times are 9:30 AM, 10:50 AM, 12:10 PM, 1:50 PM, and 3:10 PM. These show times will be available through April 25th. Disney tends to change show times and availability for different shows, parades, and more throughout the year, so this is a great reminder to always check show times. In addition to Bluey’s Best Day Ever, Disney also released several Bluey-inspired snacks! The Bluey Mud Cake Cold Brew If you or your group loves Bluey, this is a great time to be in the parks. If you can’t get over to Disneyland, no worries! Bluey and her pals are also coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom starting on May 26th. We are also Bluey obsessed, so we totally get why the crowds are going wild. As always, be sure to keep following DisneyFoodBlog for more Disney updates, news, and more. 5. As runDisney participants race through Walt Disney World, they’re making memories that will last far beyond the finish line thanks to Disney PhotoPass cast members who creatively capture the magic of every mile. Nearly 3 million photos are taken during a race season with cast members like Dave Devore stationed throughout the course. Dave’s Disney story began almost 15 years ago after retiring from the U.S. Air Force. “During my time in the service, I traveled the world, and I always had my camera with me,” Dave said. “Once I retired, I was able to continue my passion for photography here at Walt Disney World.” Turning a Passion into a Disney Career Over the years, Dave has turned his personal passion for photography into a career at Disney, leveling up his skills through specialized training available to each photographer. Before race day ever begins, PhotoPass photographers learn how to best capture action shots, so they’re ready for all the smiles, waves and celebrations that make each runner’s story special. “We cheer on each athlete and share in their excitement,” Dave said. “It’s a nice feeling when they run by and thank us for being there. You’re not just capturing these moments; you become a part of them.” This spirit of capturing race day photos is part of what earned him The Walt Disney Legacy Award, which is the highest honor a cast member can receive. “It’s such a great honor to be recognized,” Dave said. “Every day I make sure to uphold that legacy and everything that it represents.” runDisney Race Photo Tips from Cast Members Want to know how to get the best race photos? 6. According to News 6, a cold front is passing through Central Florida on April 20th, bringing cooler, drier, and windier conditions throughout most of the week. As a result, there will be an increase in fire danger. Magic Kingdom’s Cinderella Castle We can expect breezy to windy north- to northeast winds throughout the day, with sustained speeds of 15 to 20 mph and gusts of 25 to 30 mph. The skies will be mostly cloudy, with temperatures in the upper 70s to near 80 degrees, and overnight lows can fall into the upper 50s and 60s. If you’re heading to the beach, the water conditions could be dangerous. Strong onshore winds can create a rough surf and a high risk of rip currents. Boating conditions will also be hazardous with seas between 4 and 7 feet. EPCOT Fire danger will be a growing concern at the start of the week. A Red Flag Warning is in effect on Monday for Marion County, with a Fire Weather Watch in place for Tuesday across different areas. This is because of the strong, gusty winds, low relative humidity, and very dry fuels, which allow fires to start and spread easily. Tower of Terror In the middle of the week, high pressure builds, bringing drier air and more stable conditions. On Tuesday, it will stay breezy with northeast winds gradually easing later in the week. Rain chances remain very low, though a few brief onshore-moving showers might happen on Wednesday or Thursday. Disney’s Animal Kingdom Temperatures will return to seasonal norms on Thursday, with highs in the upper 70s along the coast and in the low 80s inland. By Friday into the weekend, a warming trend returns, with highs climbing into the mid- to upper 80s and even approaching 90 degrees in some inland neighborhoods. If you’re heading to Disney World or Central Florida this week, make sure you keep an eye on the weather and be prepared to change your plans. Some outdoor rides can close due to weather, so it’s good to have backup plans along with extra layers and rain gear. 9. If you’re anything like us, Disney’s Starbucks Tumblers have become something of an obsession. Disney’s NEW Starbucks Tumbler There are tons of them, and we can’t get enough. Favorite theme park? They’ve got one! Mickey Mouse tumblers? They’ve got that too! During our latest trip to Disney’s Animal Kingdom, we found a NEW Disney Starbucks Tumbler that will brighten up your life. Spring is here, and the flowers are blooming! The days are becoming longer, and we’re seeing more color every day. That’s why we are so obsessed with this new cup from Creature Comforts on Discovery Island. Creature Comforts The new cup is inspired by Disney’s Animal Kingdom, so there’s a lot to see here! Mickey is front and center, holding a smiling toucan bird. A unique version of the Tree of Life is in the background with a bright pink trunk! Animal Kingdom! You can also spot Expedition Everest in the background, as well as a Kilimanjaro Safaris truck. There are so many more animals, flowers, and more around the design. A closer look! The best part? The straw topper is Kevin from Up!, and she looks beautiful! The color is popping! KEVIN! Kevin often roams around Animal Kingdom checking things out, making cute bird noises, and taking pictures with guests, so this is the perfect way to make this colorful cup even better. The lid also has a slight sparkle to it. We won’t be surprised if these fly off the shelves! They’re so cute! We are eager to see if the other parks get cups of a similar design or if this will be an Animal Kingdom exclusive. At the time of writing, these are not available online. 11. Are you planning a trip on Disney Cruise Line? If so, you’re probably wondering if there’s a way to save money on that cruise by using a travel credit card to earn points or rewards that can be used to pay for the cruise as well as pay for things ON the cruise. Disney Adventure Well, we talked to our team about some of our favorite travel credit cards and did a little math, but one specific credit card came out on top as the clear winner if you plan on booking a Disney Cruise. And we’re going to tell you all about it. Winner: Chase Disney Inspire Visa If you want to book a Disney Cruise, you may want to get the Chase Disney Inspire Visa. For starters, when you sign up for the card, you can earn extra $$$ in rewards just for getting approved for the card, as well as for spending a certain amount within the first three months of having it. Right now, that’s a $300 Disney gift card, as well as a $300 statement credit if you spend $1,000 on purchases in the first three months of having the card. So that’s already $600 you can use on your Disney Cruise. Disney Inspire Visa You’ll also earn 200 Disney Rewards Dollars after spending $2,000 per anniversary year on U.S. Disney resort and Disney Cruise Line bookings. The card also includes discounts on Disney Cruise Line for select purchases. When it comes to regular purchases, here’s what you’ll earn: Earn 10% on card purchases for Disney+, Hulu, or ESPN+ Earn 3% on at gas stations and U.S. Disney locations Earn 2% on groceries and restaurants Earn 1% on all purchases Disney Cruise Line! But what really makes this the best card for Disney Cruises is the list of perks that come with it. You can get discounts while onboard a Disney Cruise Line ship, as well as discounted merchandise on packages and experiences at Disney Cruise Line’s island destinations. Here’s what you can get on a Disney Cruise with this card: 10% off select digital photo packages 10% off select merchandise purchases 10% off Castaway Cay Getaway Packages 10% off select Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point experiences 20% off select onboard spa treatments Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point The Disney Inspire Visa does come with an annual fee of $149 per year (which is often waived for the first year), but these rewards could make it worth it. Runner Up: Capital One Venture Rewards Our team members also mentioned the Capital One Venture Rewards card as a good card for booking Disney vacations, including Disney Cruises. With this card, you automatically earn 2X points for every dollar spent, no matter what it is. Plus, you get 5X points on hotels, vacation rentals, and rental cars booked through the Capital One Travel site. ©Capital One This card also comes with no foreign transaction fees (great if you plan on spending money at Disney Cruise Line ports) and no blackout dates. You can also use your rewards to pay for ANYTHING travel-related, including flights, vacation packages, hotels, cruises, and more. Just note that the card comes with an annual fee of $95 (generally deferred the first year), but in our experience, it is more than worth it. Runner-Up: Chase Sapphire Preferred Another card the DFB team likes is the Chase Sapphire Preferred card. With this card, you can earn 3X points at restaurants, including delivery and takeout, so if you eat out or order food delivery a lot, you can rack up points fast! You also get 2X points on travel purchases, as well as 5X points on travel purchases through Chase Travel (excluding hotels that qualify for the $50 annual Chase travel hotel credit). ©Chase This card allows you to use your points on travel, cash back, and gift cards. You can also transfer points to airline and hotel partners, so if you need a flight to get to your Disney Cruise Line port or a hotel the night before a cruise, this card could help you pay for that. This card has an annual fee of $95 (which may also be waived for the first year). No matter which credit card you choose, you’ll find travel rewards helpful for booking any kind of Disney trip, including cruises. Do your research and decide which is right for you, and soon, you’ll be earning points you can convert into your next vacation. May 26th — The Magic of Disney Animation Courtyard opens ©Disney May 26th is a BIG day for Disney World for a few reasons. The biggest reason is that the newly reimagined Walt Disney Studios Courtyard at Disney’s Hollywood Studios will officially open! The courtyard will be open to explore, and the entire area is going to feature things like Disney Princess meet-and-greets, an Alice in Wonderland playground for kiddos, drawing classes with an Olaf animatronic, and more! We’re on the edge of our seats waiting for this. May 26th — Soarin’ Across America opens at EPCOT ©Disney Another brand-new experience is coming to Disney World on May 26th, and it’s a new version of Soarin’ Around the World, called Soarin’ Across America! This will be a patriotic makeover for the 250th birthday of the U.S.A. Instead of flying to places around the world, we’ll now be flying over different parts of America. Just be aware that in order to make way for the changes, Soarin’ Around the World will close on May 13th, 2026. Also, this won’t be a permanent change. May 26th — Cool KIDS’ Summer begins Cool Kid Summer Cool Kids’ Summer is coming back for the kiddos, and it officially kicks off on May 26th! The event is bringing characters and fun activities all throughout Disney World. May 26th — Bluey’s Wild World is debuting at Animal Kingdom Bluey and Bingo at Disneyland Everyone is going to be humming the Bluey theme as they walk into Disney’s Animal Kingdom on May 26th. This new area will see Bluey and Bingo take over the Conservation Station at Rafiki’s Planet Watch. Families can head over to Bluey’s Wild World on the Wildlife Express Train and play special games directly from Bluey episodes. The area will also feature a meet-and-greet with Bluey and Bingo, as well as a section to discover animals native to Bluey’s home country, Australia, at Jumping Junction! May 26th — Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live! debuts at Hollywood Studios Disney Jr. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live! at Disneyland Lastly, Disney’s Hollywood Studios will also be seeing the debut of a brand-new show, Disney Jr. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live!, on May 26th. 13. If you choose to stay at a Disney World hotel during your trip, you can get a lot of SWEET perks that could make your trip even that much better. For example, you can get into theme parks a half hour before everyone else (and some hotel guests can even get to stay in parks for a few hours after they close). You can even get a free water park ticket for your arrival day if you’re visiting during the summer. Kids’ Meal Now, many of these perks are returning in 2027, but one perk has changed…a LOT. In 2026, if you purchase a Disney Dining Plan, your kids can eat 100% free. Well, in 2027, that’s changing, and it’s a serious downgrade. So here’s what’s changing in 2027: instead of a FREE dining plan for kids if you purchase a dining plan for yourself and other adults in your group, you just get up to 20% off dining for kids. So this perk has gone from FREE meals for kids to just a small discount. And, yes, that is a SERIOUS downgrade. However, we’re still going to try to look at this new 20% off for kids deal objectively and give you the pros and cons. Kids’ Meal at Regal Eagle in EPCOT Also note, that in both 2025 and 2026, you had to be staying at a Disney World hotel to get this deal, so that’s going to be something you’ll need to know if you’re interested! Pros Okay, so the biggest thing you’re going to get out of this if you purchase a Disney Dining Plan is that your kids will still get SOME kind of discount on food, even if it is no longer free. This could add up quite a bit, especially if you’re planning on eating at table service restaurants. The savings will add up, no matter what. Kids’ Meal from Friar The 20% off perk, though, is also a really good deal if you have multiple children. If you’ve got multiple little mouths to feed, you’ll end up saving at least something on their food. You’ll get a good value out of it if you’re bringing more than one kid to Disney World. Docking Bay 7 Kids’ Meal Another pro of getting this deal is that you can combine it with other deals. So if you also want to use a deal for tickets, hotel rooms, or a vacation package, you can get that deal, too. It’s valid as long as you also purchase a Disney Dining plan for adults. You can combine it with other deals, including hotel discounts Finally, the biggest draw for many who choose to purchase the Disney Dining Plan is that it helps with budgeting for meals. If you pre-pay for your meals, you won’t end up with sticker shock and go over your budget at restaurants. You’ll still be able to do that, but you’ll just have to account for the price of kids’ meals in your math. Cons Clearly, the biggest downside and con of the new 20% off offer is that Disney is that it’s no longer free. It seems unfair that something that was once FREE is now just a small discount. Free will always be the better deal, so this is the biggest reason the new offer is a downgrade. Kids’ Mickey Waffles Another downside is that you can’t get the deal UNLESS you purchase the Disney Dining Plan. So if you want to get 20% off kids’ meals, you have to lock yourself into the dining plan. That means you’ll also have to research how best to use the Disney Dining Plan in Disney World, as well as where you can use it. You’ll also need to know which restaurants require extra credits to dine there, like some signature dining experiences. Disney Dining Plan symbols You need to know how to get the most out of the dining plan to make it worth it. If you want to use the dining plan properly, you’ll need to compare what things cost to what you paid for the dining plan and figure out how to get the most bang for your buck (it’s usually by ordering the most expensive item on the menu). Pro tip: get the DFB Disney Dining Plan Guide! Ale & Compass spread You’ll also have to account for the fact that some restaurants will not have kid-friendly menus. This is especially true at signature dining restaurants, meaning that you might not even be able to find food your kid will like at some places you plan on using your dining plan credits at. You could also find yourself challenged if you’ve got a kid who’s a super picky eater. Kids’ meal from Rosie’s All-American Cafe Here’s another thing you need to think about: you don’t have to purchase a Disney Dining Plan. In fact, for many, the Dining Plan may end up costing you MORE than if you just pay for your meals at Disney World restaurants. This is probably even more true now that the kids’ free dining is only a small discount, so you’ll want to consider if the Disney Dining Plan is for you or not. Kids meal in EPCOT! Fear not, though! The Disney Dining Plan can be tough to navigate, but we’ve put together the Disney Dining Plan Guide that will help you figure out how to make the most out of the dining plan, should you choose to purchase it. You’ll learn how to make the most of every single dining credit. 15. We’re always on the hunt for yummy food near Disney. Sometimes you don’t have a park ticket, or you want to stay near your hotel, and we totally get it! Cozze E Vongole Today we visited Simply Capri. It’s an Italian restaurant in the Flamingo Crossings shopping center, only 10 minutes from Animal Kingdom. Lots of Disney Cast Members live in the area and have raved about it to us, so we had to check it out! The atmosphere is very casual and laid-back for table service. They had a good amount of both indoor and outdoor seating, with many tables for small and medium-sized parties. The soundtrack was fun, with a great selection of Italian pop songs hits. Simply Capri To drink, we got the Fresh Lemonade for $6. This was suuuper sour, and it shied away from the sweetness you’d usually find in a lemonade. It was very unique and fresh, which we enjoyed! Fresh Lemonade We started with their Cozze E Vongole for $21. This soup was an acidic tomato soup with a small spicy kick. The PEI mussels and top neck clams inside were chewy with a garlic flavor. It came with two pieces of bruschetta, which were perfect for sponging into the soup. Cozze E Vongole Then we tried their Ossobucco Di Vetello for $51. It’s a braised veal Ossobuco with risotto Milanese. The veal was very flavorful and tender – we didn’t even need a knife. The risotto was creamy and had a hint of saffron for complexity. This was also a great portion size and easily shareable. Ossobucco Di Vetello For dessert, we got the Delizia Al Limone for $14. This is a limoncello sponge cake covered with lemon cream, and our server told us they import it straight from Italy. The sponge cake was very fluffy with a strong lemon flavor from the limoncello. The lemon cream added a smooth, creamy texture to the outside that added even more lemon. Delizia Al Limone We had so much fun trying all of the new menu items at Simply Capri. We know it can be tempting to stay on Disney World property your entire trip, but there are great restaurants and entertainment right outside! We love to do this on our check-in or check-out day, or when we’re taking a pool day in the middle of the trip. It’s refreshing and makes us feel like we actually saw Central Florida versus just Disney World. Stay tuned to Disney Food Blog for more Disney World food! They all look the same When you rent a stroller from Disney World, your stroller is going to look like everyone else’s. Sure, the Mickey design might be fun, but if you ever have to park your stroller at a ride and then find it again later, GOOD LUCK. Disney Strollers all look alike They’re uncomfortable and impractical Disney’s strollers are just not comfortable enough for your kids and you. The seats aren’t comfy, and they’re very hard to steer. They’re also impractical because they don’t even lean back. Stroller rental at Disney’s Hollywood Studios They sell out fast on busy days Imagine this. You get to Disney World with plans to rent a stroller at the parks, but the parks are so busy that there aren’t any strollers available to rent. Then you’re stuck without a stroller. 17. Disney World spends a lot of time working on its restaurant menus, changing them often, trying new things, occasionally getting rid of things they shouldn’t (Columbia Harbour House, we’re looking at you), and then changing things back again (and, yes, we’re still talking about hush puppies). Turf Club eats Well, sometimes, Disney World just decides to close a restaurant completely to give it a bit of a makeover. Now we’ve seen a LOT of huge restaurant makeovers over the past few years, from Citricos reopening with a brand new look and menu in 2021 to the recent reopening of the Garden View Lounge, which also got a new look and menu. Well, now one of our least favorite hotel restaurants has closed, and we’re wondering…will Disney fix what we think is wrong with it? Disney recently revealed that the Turf Club Lounge at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort would close in late April and reopen in mid-August. During that time, The Turf Club Bar & Grill will remain open with a pop-up bar serving a modified menu. Then, from early to mid-August 2026, The Turf Club Patio will close. From mid-August to mid-September, the Turf Club Bar and Grill will be closed, but the Turf Club Lounge will remain open. Turf Club Bar & Grill So let’s talk about these two dining locations. Here’s the thing…we can’t hold back when we say that Turf Club Bar and Grill is one of our least favorite (and possibly worst) restaurants in Disney World. When we ranked all of the hotel restaurants in Disney World, this one came in DEAD LAST. Now, we know this restaurant gets mixed reviews, but in our opinion, the theming is dull, and the food is just kinda “meh.” Well, with the restaurant being closed for so long for a refurbishment, we can’t help but wonder if it’s going to get a complete makeover, both with the restaurant’s theming (and we feel it really needs SOMETHING to make it a little more exciting) and its food (which we think could also be seriously upgraded). So, should we dare think that Disney is making this restaurant better by fixing its issues? Salted Caramel Creme Brulee See, here’s why we think this might be the case…Disney has done this quite a bit: close a restaurant and then give it a completely new look and menu. When Citricos reopened, it had a completely new Mary Poppins Returns theme and a new menu created by Chef Andres Mendoza. Definitely a glow-up. When the Garden View Lounge reopened with its afternoon tea options, it got a new elegant makeover with a fun Alice in Wonderland-inspired menu. Tea Experience in the Garden View Tea Room So we’re hopeful this could be the case for Turf Club! Of course, Disney has not confirmed any kind of changes it has planned for the restaurant, so we can only guess as to what its plans are. But we do think this would be a great opportunity to turn a mediocre restaurant into a better dining spot. We’ll be keeping an eye out for updates, so stay tuned to DFB for more. 18. While cruising has long been one of the world’s most popular vacation and travel options, it’s exploded in popularity amongst members of Generation X (born between 1965 and 1980) and Millennials (born between 1981 and 1996) in recent years, and we think we have some answers as to why. Disney Treasure Cruise Ship According to Cruising.org, 67% of cruise passengers in 2025 were members of Gen X or younger, with an average age of 46.5, and 36% under the age of 40. So, why has cruising — which traditionally attracted an older clientele — skewed so young in recent years? Well, we believe there are several reasons. Cost Effectiveness and “Value” While cruises are by no means “cheap”, they often provide an all-inclusive experience where a passenger can lock in accommodation, transportation to and from a destination, food, and entertainment all for one price and one booking. This can prove appealing to younger travelers who have seen firsthand how quickly inflation can wreak havoc across various industries, potentially causing a single element of a trip to suddenly jump in price, throwing a whole trip’s budget into flux. Those who live within driving distance of their departure port — and therefore do not need to fly to take their cruise — can especially benefit here due to the always fluctuating nature of airfare prices. The Disney Destiny at port Safety While there are obviously some dangers to cruising — from the typical dangers that come with any kind of vacation to more cruise-specific threats, including the spread of stomach viruses and the very nature of being at sea — their all-inclusive, controlled environment can still seem safer to some travelers than an open environment they’re unfamiliar with. This can be especially true for solo travelers, who may feel safer traveling alone on a large ship. According to Cruising.org, 12% of cruise travelers were solo travelers in 2024. ©Carnival A Good Option for “Cross-Generational Trips” Cruises also provide a solid option for Gen X members and millennials to bring together the older and younger generations of their family, all on one trip. The Cruising.org report states that of 28% of passengers cruise with three to five generations. ©Carnival The Appeal of Disney Gone By… From a Disney-specific standpoint, Disney Cruises arguably offer an experience closer to the Disney World that these generations experienced as kids in the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s than the current parks do, thanks to trademark Disney service standards. guaranteed access to included theme restaurants, roaming Disney characters, and a litany of experiences that don’t need to be overly planned. Disney Treasure’s signature sculpture Thanks to economic and social factors, cruising is becoming more and more popular among members of both Gen X and Millennials. 19. Disney does a great deal of work to make Disney World feel like a magical place, whether you’re in the parks or at a Disney World hotel. This is why so many folks insist on staying inside the “Disney bubble” when they visit the resort. Disney’s Art of Animation Resort However, sometimes things can still go wrong at Disney World. We’ve seen everything from fire alarms to unexpected construction to dragons catching fire. Well, today, one Disney World hotel, Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, had a really bad day...so bad that it was raining…INSIDE the hotel. Granted, things like this do sometimes happen, although you may visit Disney World ALL the time and never see anything like this. If you do, though, make sure that Cast Members are alerted. They will know what to do and will know how to keep everyone safe while they call for someone to come repair the issue. We can guarantee that it will probably be repaired quickly. Disney is FAST when something like that happens. Landscape of Flavors when it’s dry It’s also likely this area will be blocked off for a while while repairs are happening, as well as while clean-up is being done on it. So just pay attention, and don’t let it ruin your day. 20. We headed overseas for our latest Disney food review! Our meal During a visit to Disneyland Paris Resort to check out the BRAND-NEW World of Frozen at the newly-named Disney Adventure World, we stopped by Paris’ version of Disney Springs/Downtown Disney to try a classic entrée at Brasserie Rosalie! We have a lot of thoughts, so buckle up! If you’d like to try it yourself, Brasserie Rosalie is located just opposite Lake Disney in the heart of Disney Village. Rosalie This spot is a table-service brasserie that offers both indoor and outdoor seating (seasonally), and you’ll find plenty of timeless classics native to both the States and France. Some popular French dishes include onion soup, Burgundy snails, roasted French chicken supreme, mussels in Isigny cream sauce, and profiteroles. A look inside If you’re in a rush and don’t have time to sit down, Le Comptoir is a counter option attached to the restaurant that offers a selection of on-the-go sandwiches, salads, and pastries. Pretty views! During our visit, we tried the Classic Pepper Steak with French Fries for €27.50…and we have thoughts. This is a simple steak, but some of the best steaks anyone could have are kept simple. When the natural flavors of the meat combine with some seasoning, magic happens. But we’ve dealt with inconsistencies in food quality at Disneyland Paris, so we were nervous, nevertheless. Classic Pepper Steak Fortunately, we found this meal neither outstanding nor offensive. To put it bluntly: This dish was okay. Our steak was cooked to our medium-rare request, and it had a nice pink center. What’s weird, though, is that it was served fairly cold. We’re used to our steaks being served piping hot or at least warm, so it’s safe to say we were taken aback. It’s tough to pinpoint what went wrong. It’s possible it was left to rest too long, and the issue fell on service rather than the chefs — which is a shame, because the seasoning and flavor were both hits with us. Great color The fries were also imperfect. Good, but imperfect. We found them to be a bit floppy, but they still tasted pretty good with the right amount of salt. French fries We thought our pepper sauce was on the thinner side and added a nice glossiness to the steak. Definitely dip your steak in this if you end up trying it, because the pepper flavor really shines. We got a glass of red wine with our meal, thinking it would pair nicely. We’re happy to report that we were correct! Red wine So did this meal change our opinion of the quality of food at Disneyland Paris? Nah, not really. It was decent, but didn’t blow our socks off. Being served a cold steak was a massive misstep by the restaurant, and the dish was below average for a French steak frites meal. But, hey — Disneyland Paris’ food reputation needs a win, and this was better than a lot of meals we’ve had at the Parisian resort. 22. There are a lot of ways to become memorable in Magic Kingdom. You can rope drop TRON. You can cry during Happily Ever After. You can spend $19 on a popcorn bucket and pretend that was always the plan. Laugh Floor Or…you can become That Guy at Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor. And if you’ve never had the pleasure, let us explain: every show needs one unsuspecting human to become the recurring punchline. It is an honor. It is a curse. It is, frankly, one of the funniest things happening in Tomorrowland on any given day. Laugh Floor Signage Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor is built on audience participation, so no two shows play out exactly the same. Mike Wazowski and friends are up there training to be the funniest monsters in Monstropolis, and sometimes that means lovingly roasting one random guest for several glorious minutes. If you’ve ever wondered how people end up with that distinction, we’ve got a few tips. Monsters of Comedy Wall No, it’s not an exact science. But if your dream is to get lightly bullied by cartoon monsters in front of a room full of strangers, there are definitely ways to improve your odds. Wear the Joke If you want to get picked, step one is simple: be easy to spot. Laugh Floor Bright colors, goofy hats, loud patterns, sparkly ears, birthday buttons, shirts with ridiculous slogans, anything that makes you pop in a dim theater full of people in standard park uniforms of gray tank tops and mild sun exhaustion. You don’t need to dress like you lost a bet, but it does help to look a little more visually interesting than the sea of neutral vacation wear around you. See the laugh tank in the corner? This is especially true if your outfit tells a story. A silly hat? A flashy shirt? A whole vibe? That’s comedy bait right there. Basically, if a camera operator can find you in half a second, you’re already ahead of the game. Sit Like You Mean It Location matters. It’s getting ready to start! If you really want a shot at becoming That Guy, try to get into the theater early enough to snag a seat in the front half of the room, ideally near the end of a row. You don’t have to be in the very first row like you’re accepting an award, but you do want to be somewhere easy for the camera to land on without a bunch of heads and shoulders in the way. Laugh Floor has a Halloween makeover! This is one of those cases where being a little strategic actually helps. Laugh Floor is not the place to drift into the back row and hope destiny finds you through three pairs of mouse ears and a balloon. Sit where you can be seen. Monstropolis cannot lovingly embarrass what it cannot locate. Play It Cool Now here’s where things get deliciously ironic. One of the easiest ways to get picked is to give off the energy that you absolutely, positively do not want to be picked. A little shy? A little awkward? Slightly horrified to be there? Congratulations, you may already be giving prime That Guy material. Waiting to go in The show works because the reactions are funny. If you look bashful, mildly panicked, or like you were dragged there against your will by an overly cheerful family member, that can read really well on camera. Monsters love contrast. The room loves contrast. Comedy loves contrast. Time to go! That does not mean you should be rude, pouty, or make a dramatic scene. This is not community theater for people who want to get escorted out. You’re aiming for “adorably reluctant,” not “man arguing with a lamp at a sports bar.” Subtlety is your friend here. Don’t Audition for It This might be the most important tip of all. If you try too hard, there’s a decent chance you’ll torpedo the whole thing. Special Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor Laugh Floor is funniest when the audience interaction feels natural. So if you’re flailing, waving both arms, making faces, trying to out-joke the monsters, or broadcasting “PLEASE PICK ME, I HAVE PREPARED MATERIAL,” you may actually make yourself less appealing as a target. Nobody wants That Guy to feel like he’s been workshopping this moment in the mirror all morning. The Mind-Reading Monster The sweet spot is being visible, expressive, and game without turning into a one-person preshow. Let the monsters do the comedy. Your job is just to be a delightful canvas for it. Think “good reaction shot,” not “open mic night at Señor Frog’s.” Commit to the Bit If you do get picked, the absolute best thing you can do is go with it. Smile. Laugh. Lean in. Accept your fate with the dignity of someone who has just been chosen by Mike Wazowski himself. Laugh Floor Because once you are That Guy, you are not just getting one little shoutout and moving on with your life. You are very likely becoming a recurring gag throughout the show. Your face may pop up again. And again. And possibly again, just when you thought it was over. This is not the moment to shut down and stare into the middle distance like you’re questioning every life choice that led you here. The fun of the bit is in the audience reaction, and the better sport you are, the funnier the whole thing becomes. Also, let’s be real: there are worse Disney vacation memories than “animated monsters publicly adopted me as their favorite punchline.” Know What You’re Signing Up For For some people, being That Guy is the dream. For others, it sounds like the social equivalent of being chased by a velociraptor through Tomorrowland. And both reactions are valid. If getting called out in a live show sounds like your personal nightmare, the easiest counter-strategy is basically the opposite of everything above: dress normally, sit farther back, avoid looking too reactive, and pray to the comedy gods that someone else in a neon Goofy bucket hat takes the hit for the team. ©Amazon But if you’ve always secretly wanted your little brush with Monstropolis fame, this is one of the easiest places in Disney World to shoot your shot. No virtual queue. No lightning-fast fingers. No waking up at 6:55AM in a cold sweat. Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor Just vibes, visibility, and a willingness to become part of the joke. The Final Punchline At the end of the day, there’s no foolproof formula for becoming That Guy at Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor. The show is live, the monsters are chaotic, and comedy has always had a tiny streak of anarchy in it. Text in your joke But if you wear something memorable, sit where the camera can find you, act just a little bashful, and avoid trying to force the bit, your odds definitely get better. And if you do get picked? Congratulations. You are now part of the show. Part of the lore. Part of Monstropolis comedy history. Let’s laugh Try not to let it go to your head. While this might not guarantee that you will be selected, it can really help your chances! 25. One of the Disneyland Resort’s most popular dark rides has been battling a permanent closure for years, but 2027 will finally see it close its doors for good. Say it ain’t so, Mike! When Walt said that Disneyland would always be changing, he wasn’t kidding. While theme park expansion is very exciting, sometimes it comes with a cost. In the case of the new Avatar land in Disney California Adventure, the fallout is that we’ll be losing Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue! — which is kind of a bummer. Disney revealed this year that the ride will remain open throughout 2026, but we’ll still need to say goodbye for good in 2027. Despite being originally slated to close in early 2026 (which has already come and gone, if you can believe it), the Monsters, Inc. ride has survived — for now. The permanent closure timeline was extended into 2027 at an unspecified date, so you’ll have plenty of time to see Boo, Mike, and Sulley before they leave the park in favor of James Cameron’s box office-smashing film franchise. Monsters, Inc. Mike and Sulley to the Rescue! A ride that generally garners steady wait times, this dark ride takes passengers through an abridged retelling of the first Monsters, Inc. film. Packed with plenty of humor, heart, and air conditioning — this ride has been a favorite of fans of all ages since it replaced Superstar Limo in the early 2000s. Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue! A LOT is going on at California Adventure now, as Disney is doubling the size of Avengers Campus with two new rides and a new Coco ride in addition to everything going on in the Hollywood Land Backlot area. Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue! Recently, Disney filed a permit with the City of Anaheim regarding the Monsters, Inc. ride demolition, as well as the removal of the Hollywood Lounge beverage stand in the same area. Hollywood Lounge The new Avatar land is not expected to open until 2028 or 2029, and as of this writing, no visible progress has been made — at least from the general public’s perspective. Avatar Land ©Disney This new Avatar land is unique from Pandora in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, which is based on the first Avatar movie. This California-based land will instead be inspired by the sequel films and will contain at least one unique ride. We still don’t know much about it, but Disney has teased that it will be an adventure boat ride. Crossing our fingers that it’s like the Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Shanghai Disneyland! ©Disney We’re excited to learn more about this land and its attractions, and we’ll be sure to keep you posted on all the latest info once it rolls in! ©Disney How are you feeling about Monsters, Inc.
