  1. Epic Universe could be implementing a huge change in the near future, and we need to talk about it! Epic Universe! Universal Studios Orlando uses Photo Validation for entry at their parks at the resort. Now, Universal dropped news that Photo Validation will be expanding and will be used at Epic Universe portals. Let’s dive into what we already know! Photo Validation at Universal is a system that scans your face upon park entry or at the lockers, and it’s used to confirm that you are the ticket holder. It eliminates the need for carrying a physical ticket, losing a ticket, having to log in digitally, all that good stuff. Celestial Park! Now, when we say that Photo Validation is coming to Epic Universe, we aren’t just talking about the main entrance to the park (although that will be one spot). Instead, Universal stated that this new system will be used at each of the four portals. Super Nintendo World portal Ok, we’re all wondering the same thing. Why do we need Photo Validation to enter portals when you don’t need a ticket to enter the portals? That’s a very valid point! The best way to figure this out is to just check what Universal said exactly. Isle of Berk On the Universal website, it says, “To keep your passage easy, you can use Photo Validation for Effortless Entry whenever Virtual Line return times are being used.” The only thing is that up until this point, no “Virtual Line” has been used, so we aren’t entirely sure what this means. “It’s Alive! It’s Alive!” This could indicate that Universal is possibly expecting a spike in attendance that could require Virtual Lines to keep the portals and lands at a good crowd level. If you haven’t been to Epic Universe before, the lands are a little smaller than you’d expect in terms of how much of a crowd they can hold. Portal Into Ministry of Magic The summer is right around the corner, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see Epic Universe crowds go up, especially since the park will officially be one year old. The Virtual Line that they’ve stated could be to make sure those summer crowds are calm. There’s also the chance that maybe crowds could pick up with the addition of Epic Universe Annual Passes, but we really don’t know. Super Nintendo World Epic Universe We’re going to be following all of this news very closely! It’ll be interesting to see how this goes when the new systems are added, and what it means for future Epic Universe visits. Make sure to follow us at the Disney Food Blog so you don’t miss any theme park news and updates, especially with summer coming up. If you’ve been on the lookout for the perfect new MagicBand for your trip, check out these TWO new ones that just landed online! 4. Some Disney ride closures just hit harder than others. The ride A few months ago, Disney fans were mourning the loss of DINOSAUR in Animal Kingdom, and that created a massive hullabaloo. But you know what deserves even more of a sendoff? Aquatopia is closing at Tokyo DisneySea, and we are distraught! Aquatopia is a die-hard favorite of our fearless leader at Disney Food Blog, AJ. For her, it’s a must-do ride every visit, and when she found out that it would be closing permanently on September 14th, 2026, she said, and I quote, “this is basically the worst news ever.” Aquatopia She told our team that this was “literally the best ride in the world” and that Disney announcing its closure was “basically on a par with them announcing a PeopleMover closure.” (No one freak out, it was JUST a metaphor! PeopleMover is completely fine, guys.) You know what? She might have a point. This is a truly original Disney ride that takes you on whirling, spinning, unpredictable movements through the water. It’s fun, it’s whimsical, and it was only the second Disney attraction ever to use a trackless ride system. Bye, Aquatopia! The regular version of the ride will be open for the last time from April 22nd-June 30th. After that, it will become the Aquatopia “Get Soaked” Version for the remainder of its tenure, in conjunction with Summer Cool-off at Tokyo Disney Resort. Is it too late to plan a last-minute trip to do it again? Honestly, we wouldn’t judge you if you did. Aquatopia entrance Bye, bye Aquatopia. We’ll miss you dearly, and the laughter you gave us will live on in our memories. To commemorate this loss, we hope you enjoy this photo from the time AJ did a full-scale chicken nugget photo shoot onboard the ride. The life of a Disney food blogger. RIP Aquatopia. 5. Well, for the second time in less than a year, an attraction in Disney’s Hollywood Studios is closing…again. Vacation Fun Now, closures for ride and attraction refurbishments happen all the time, and they’re generally short when it’s just for basic ride maintenance, which is necessary to keep rides and attractions running on a regular basis. Now, Vacation Fun — An Original Animated Short with Mickey & Minnie just reopened in December 2025 after a two-month closure, but now, it’s set to close again for another refurbishment. That’s right, Vacation Fun is set to temporarily close AGAIN on April 29th, according to the Disney World website. No reopening date has been announced, but the website says the ride will reopen later this year. ©Disney In 2025, the ride closed on October 25th and later reopened on December 27th. It’s been less than four months since it reopened, so it’s a little odd that the ride will be closing again. During its last closure, we only noticed one change when it reopened. The Potatoland photo op area was back. Potatoland Now, it’s unclear why the show is closing again for another refurbishment, but we’re curious as to what this closure might mean. There are already quite a few other closures in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, so this could mean other attractions might end up with longer lines now that there’s less to do in the park. Disney’s Hollywood Studios Right now, Muppets Courtyard is closed to make way for a new Monsters, Inc. land, while Animation Courtyard is closed to make way for The Walt Disney Studios. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster is also closed as it gets converted into Rock n’ Roller Coaster Starring the Muppets, which is set to open on May 26th. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring the Muppets We’ll be keeping an eye out for more closures in Disney World, so stay tuned to DFB for more. 13 Disney Rides That Will Be Closed in 2026 Join the DFB Newsletter to get all the breaking news right in your inbox! 7. In case you don’t have May 22nd circled in your calendar, and you’re a Disney World fan, you need to! ©Disney A new version of Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run is coming to Disneyland and Disney World on May 22nd, and Disney just shared a new poster for the ride. Check out this awesome poster! It shows the Mandalorian and Grogu, who are debuting on the ride. You can also see lots of different ships and a family in the cockpit of the Millennium Falcon. ©Disney For the ride changes, you’ll meet a new storyline with Mando and Grogu, check out upgraded visuals, and even select your destination. This is a HUGE deal because we’ve been following the same adventure, but now we get to choose where we’re going! This task is going to the engineer, which makes this a prized position now. ©Disney Disney also said that we can expect higher-quality graphics and that the scenes will be more interactive as they can render graphics in real time, making your flight feel more realistic. ©Disney The Mandalorian and Grogu movie is also coming to theaters on May 22nd, so it’s just going to be a Star Wars filled day! 8. Disney World is full of tempting souvenirs, which is why we 100% recommend having a budget before you go. Otherwise, you’ll spend a fortune and walk out going, “What have I done?” (We definitely don’t know that from personal experience…) EPCOT Starbucks Tumbler We’ve seen a lot of great souvenirs over the years, but we’ve gotta admit — this most recent release might take the cake for the recent souvenir that very well might sell out in a matter of days. Currently, they’re not online yet either, so if you see these in the parks and know you love their look, we suggest grabbing them ASAP! Recently, a whole new collection of Starbucks tumblers dropped in Disney World, but these aren’t just any tumblers — there’s one for each theme park! They’re not cheap, that’s for sure, as they’ll each cost you $54.99. We spotted the Hollywood Studios Starbucks Tumbler at Celebrity 5 & 10 on Hollywood Boulevard. On one side, it has the green Starbucks logo, while on the other, you’ll see Sorcerer Mickey front and center, surrounded by well-known icons around the park, like the Enchanted Rose from Beauty and the Beast, a limousine from Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, the Pizza Planet Green Aliens, Tower of Terror, and Maleficent in dragon form from Fantasmic!, among many others. It’s even got Gertie as a straw topper, which we love! Hollywood Studios Starbucks Tumbler You can also find the Animal Kingdom Starbucks Tumbler right now at Creature Comforts on Discovery Island. The entire cup is a light green, with, again, the Starbucks logo on one side, while the other has Mickey front and center holding a smiling toucan bird, surrounded by aspects of the park. Around him, you’ll find a version of the Tree of Life with a bright pink trunk, Expedition Everest, a Kilimanjaro Safaris truck, tons of flora and fauna, and the straw topper is none other than Kevin from the Pixar film Up. Animal Kingdom Starbucks Tumbler The EPCOT Starbucks Tumbler can be found at Creations Shop, and this one is bright blue and features Chef Mickey on the front. You’ll find Figment celebrating the Festival of the Arts, flowers and butterflies representing the Flower & Garden Festival, Remy representing the Food & Wine Festival, and numerous other icons around the park. You’ll recognize some from World Showcase, Te Fiti from Journey of Water, and more. They had a whole wall when we went, but, likely, it won’t last long! EPCOT Starbucks Tumbler There is also one of these tumblers available in Magic Kingdom, but it’s proven to be a bit more elusive. We’ll be keeping our eyes peeled, though, so be sure to stay tuned to the blog — we’ll let you know when we find it! Disney Cruise Line Released a NEW 50% off Deal. Is It Worth It? 10. Packing for Disney World can be pretty difficult, especially when it comes to the things you don’t know if you’ll need or not. VentaPak in Disney World Sure, you need clothes, your toiletries, and maybe some Disney accessories you plan on wearing, but what about those items you can’t tell if they’re essentials or not? A mini fan, a hat, extra shoes you aren’t totally sure you’ll wear, and what about a poncho? Listen, we know it can be hard to decide, but believe us when we say that these four items? Well, we’re here to pass on these four products. Yeah, these are ones you won’t want to head to the parks without, as wild as it may be for us to admit it. DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. For Those Rainy Days Silicone Waterproof Shoe Covers The truth is, when we saw these Silicone Waterproof Shoe Covers, we genuinely had no faith in them. We thought they’d fall apart, and we tried them out to warn you NOT to buy them. So, imagine our surprise when they actually WORKED super well! While we still suggest bringing a poncho, umbrella, or raincoat to the parks, there’s not much they can do to keep your feet from getting wet. These solve that problem easily, though we do recommend sizing up to alleviate any discomfort from the zipper, and if you want to be sure they’ll zip all the way up. Grab on Amazon! Never Struggle With Back Sweat Again VentaPak Lightweight Ventilation Backpack Spacer Is there anything worse than taking off your backpack and realizing you’re COVERED in sweat? Not in our book, which is why we’re such big fans of the VentaPak. This helps to create space between your back and your bag so you don’t end up with that big patch of sweat that ends up giving you the chills while you’re standing in the AC. It’s also a great way to make sure your posture stays solid, which is important for standing long hours in the parks. We had this on our backpack for months, took it off for ONE day, and majorly regretted it, so we haven’t made that mistake again. Grab on Amazon! A Powerful Fan For Even The Hottest Days AMKEN Waist Fan There are lots of fans out there on the market (we own a lot of them), but if you need something that’s really going to do the job and keep you cool, the AMKEN Waist Fan is the way to go, hands down. It’s a little bit heavier than others, but we do love that it can stand on its own, be on a lanyard around your neck, or be clipped onto the waistband of your pants. It does a great job keeping you cool, especially if you have it clipped on and you’re someone who carries a lot of heat in their back or trunk. It’s a little bit louder than other fans, but for how powerful it is, we think it’s worth it! Grab on Amazon! A Hat AND A Fan in One! Outdoor Wide Brim Hat Fan While we aren’t a big fan of the style of the Wide Brimmed Sun Hat with Solar Fans, since it did feel a little bulky to us, we do love that it both keeps you cool AND protected from the sun at the same time. The fans themselves can either be charged normally or charged with solar power, which can really come in handy on hot summer days. You also can adjust if both fans are blowing, only one, and you can also remove them easily if you choose to. The versatility was a big plus for us! We did notice too though that it’s best when the air around you is already cooler, such as when you’re in the AC, because otherwise, it just blows hot air around your face. Grab on Amazon! We’re here to bring you all the news and recommendations to help you plan your upcoming Disney World trip, so stay tuned to DFB! View the full article
  11. There’s nothing quite like leading a restaurant at Walt Disney World Resort, where bustling kitchens deliver world-class experiences. And Amber would know. More than 15 years after beginning her culinary journey on the Disney College Program, she is now is proudly guiding the reopening of The Garden View Lounge – Tea Experience at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. Amber has been part of the reimagining of this cherished space since 2023, when the concept was still taking shape on paper. Her earliest focus was determining how this guest-favorite offering could return in a fresh, elevated way that still honored the classic experience. “Guests asked me every single day when the tea room was reopening,” Amber said. “It’s been a lot of pressure, but the kind that reminds you how much this place means to people. Feeling their excitement has kept us going.” Brewing Her Tea Expertise Already a beverage expert thanks to earning her sommelier and cicerone certifications with Disney’s support, Amber added a new title to that list: tea master in the making. Alongside the beverage team, Amber partnered directly with Twinings Master Blenders to select eight unique blends for the experience. “My desk looked like a science experiment,” she laughed. “Twinings taught us everything; from water temperature and steeping time to the pot, the glassware, and how to taste using all of your senses. Each session lasted several hours, but we wanted to make absolutely sure we were offering the very best service to our guests.” And that’s certainly clear from a look at the menu. In addition to classic teas, guests of all ages can take a sip of non-caffeinated herbal teas and delightfully light refreshers. One blend you won’t find anywhere else in the United States: the Disney-exclusive Orangery of Lady Grey, a bright twist on classic Earl Grey infused with citrus notes alongside the traditional bergamot flavor. A Tea Experience in Wonderland Where better to enjoy a whimsical twist on a British tea service than inside the storybook charm of Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa? This reimagined experience invites you to step into the fanciful world of Disney’s Alice in Wonderland through every detail, from the stunning stained-glass windows to the towering tiers of sweet and savory bites. “The food is incredible,” Amber shared. “Chefs Michelle and Ally created an elegant, colorful tower that tastes even better than it looks. Guests who remember the previous service will be surprised. This is an entirely new experience with imaginative touches inspired by the classic tale.” Swipe through the photos above to see a few favorites from the menu. Amber’s personal pick? The Caterpillar Cucumber Roll — pumpernickel topped with butterfly pea-infused cream cheese and fresh cucumbers for a vibrant, garden-inspired bite. 12. We’ve got some great news for Disney Cruise Line sailors, especially those who find making it to San Diego easier than Orlando or other ports. San Diego Embarkation Port ©Disney Cruise Line Currently, the Disney Wonder and the Disney Magic are set to sail from San Diego, and now, thanks to this extended partnership, we could see the amount of sailings from San Diego DOUBLE within the next five years. Today, Disney Cruise Line and the Port of San Diego announced a new agreement through at least 2031! This means that the number of Disney cruises out of the port will double in the years to come. When talking about the partnership, Jose Fernandez, Vice President of Port Strategy, Development & Operations, Disney Cruise Line, said, “San Diego has been an important part of our West Coast operations for more than a decade, and a place our guests love sailing from. This new agreement supports our long-term growth and helps us continue contributing to the region’s economy.” Disney Wonder Chair Ann Moore, Port of San Diego Board of Port Commissioners, expressed her gratitude towards Disney Cruise Line and their partnership, saying, “This agreement not only enhances business operations between the Port, Disney and all our cruise line partners – it also supports a thriving cruise industry that injects millions into the region’s economy and welcomes thousands of visitors to our waterfront each year.” Disney Wonder Through this agreement, Disney has secured non-exclusive priority access to the Port’s North and South berths at the B Street cruise terminal, which will make arriving at the port easier for guests and assist the port in better planning for maximizing the terminal. Throughout the duration of this agreement, the port expects to see 1 million passengers just for Disney cruises alone. This represents the first time in more than 20 years that a cruise line has offered a minimum annual guarantee at the Port of San Diego. Disney Magic Cruise Ship Disney Cruise Line began sailing from this port in 2012 and remains a proud partner of the San Diego community, often working on collaborations with local nonprofits that focus on youth empowerment and environmental conservation. The Disney Magic and Disney Wonder will begin sailing from the port later this year. The Disney Magic arrives this October and will offer 3-7-night voyages through November, followed by a 14-night Panama Canal transit to Galveston. The Disney Wonder, on the other hand, will homeport in San Diego from October 2026 through April 2027, sailing 3-7-night itineraries to destinations including Catalina Island, Cabo San Lucas, Ensenada, and Puerto Vallarta. In a statement with USA Today, the airline said, “Delta routinely adjusts its network as part of its normal planning process. 14. As a former Disney World Cast Member, I’ve learned that while Lightning Lanes can save you time, it’s not always worth the cost. Lightning Lane sign for Tower of Terror in Disney’s Hollywood Studios If you are planning a trip to Disney World, you might think that skipping the lines by purchasing Lightning Lane is an automatic yes. But as someone who used to work in the parks, I can tell you that is not always true. Before you hit that purchase button before your next vacation, here are five reasons Lightning Lane might not be worth it for you. 1. If You Have Little Ones You might assume you need Lightning Lane if you have little kids in your party because it can decrease your wait time in the queues; however, there are a few scenarios where it’s not worth it. At EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios, if your little one is under 34″, there is very little for them to ride — that’s not saying there aren’t things for them to do! Many of the attractions under Lightning Lane Multi Pass at these parks have a height restriction, and you might find yourself feeling like you aren’t getting your money’s worth if you are focused on doing rides as a family. Why You’ll Never Catch Me Skipping Lightning Lanes as a Disney Mom Slinky Dog Dash 2. If You’re Prioritizing Dining If you are someone who wants to eat at multiple sit-down restaurants throughout your day, you’re going to want to think twice about purchasing Lightning Lane. These restaurants can easily take 60-90 minutes out of your day, and that will take away time from riding attractions. If you are more focused on enjoying meals, you might feel rushed with Lightning Lane. We would focus on your dining reservations and hit your must-do attractions at rope drop or in the evenings. The Hollywood Brown Derby 3. If You Plan to Park Hop You might think having Lightning Lane can help you if you’re park hopping because once you use your first Lightning Lane, you can select an attraction at a different park. However, it’s good to know that switching parks can actually eat up a lot of time, especially if you are using Disney transportation. If you’re trying to hit only a few rides at each park, using Lightning Lane can be a good strategy. However, if you want to “do everything” in a park and then hop, we wouldn’t recommend Lightning Lane. Disney Bus 4. If You’re at Disney’s Animal Kingdom In 2026, Animal Kingdom is under some major construction, leaving just a handful of attractions open on Lightning Lane. We believe that right now, you can skip the Lightning Lane Multi Pass here, and if you want, purchase a Lightning Lane Single Pass for Flight of Passage, as this will be the highest wait time in the park. You can easily knock out the other big attractions like Expedition Everest and Kilimanjaro Safaris in the morning with low waits. Everything We Know About Animal Kingdom’s New Land Disney’s Animal Kingdom 5. If You Want Flexibility and Freedom One of the biggest gripes is that Lightning Lanes lock you into a schedule. It can feel restricting to have to be somewhere at a certain time. What if something comes up and you want to soak in the parade magic, or you want a snack? With Lightning Lane, you are confined to a schedule. Annual Passholders, or locals, are likely to want to have the flexibility in their day, since they can visit often. Having to be at a specific place at a specific time can turn your chill day into a stress-fueled march across the park. Hollywood Studios So before you buy Lightning Lane, think about how you want your day to feel and what might be best for your travel party. Either way, we’re here to help you make the most of your trip — with or without Lightning Lanes. Stay tuned to DFB for more Disney tips and news. 17. Kids really say (and do!) the darndest things, don’t they?! TRON Lightcycle / Run After a recent trip to Disney World with my sister and her family, one of my nieces, Harper, was reminiscing about her time at the Most Magical Place on Earth the best way a 7-year-old knows how — by drawing it. Her drawing was so adorable that I shared it with the entire DFB team, and we all couldn’t help but think about how hilariously accurate it was. This girl is going places, man. Okay, first, let’s talk about the composition here — this comic-strip style drawing instantly brought me joy as soon as I saw it. So much COLOR! Her two favorite rides of the trip were TRON Lightcycle/Run and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, and even though she was a little trepidatious of TRON at first, she ended up loving it and riding it twice in one day. I’m obsessed But, even though she loved it, it’s clear that her main gripe with the ride is just how SHORT it is — and you know what? I get it. TRON is a pretty short ride, though you can’t deny that the launch is SO much fun. In my niece’s words, “This ride is 10 secens [seconds],” and she’s not far off. The ride is typically around 60 seconds long, making it one of the shortest in all of Disney World. She even drew herself on the launch portion of the ride — and I think she captured the vibes of the TRON canopy perfectly. TRON She also LOVES Cosmic Rewind — and again, I can’t blame her! It’s easily my favorite Disney World roller coaster, so it must run in the family. The color in this panel of the drawing evokes both the flashing lights and scenes of this ride, along with the vibes of the music. She’s even giving some of the best advice for this ride in her drawing — if you request Row 9, you’ll end up being in the front row when the ride eventually launches you backward. Cosmic Rewind If you ask me, Harper has a future job waiting for her here at DFB with her Disney advice already, and maybe even a career in animation is in her future! We’ll be on the lookout for even more Disney park updates you need to know about. In the meantime, make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for the latest Disney news and more! 18. We’re sharing the top tips we picked up from our recent trip to Universal Studios Singapore! Universal Studios Singapore We’ve been doing a LOT of traveling lately, with trips to Singapore for the maiden voyage of the Disney Adventure, Disneyland Paris for the Adventure World expansion, and the fantasy-themed Efteling park in the Netherlands, all in the books! We also visited Universal Studios Singapore while we were in the neighborhood, and now we’re reporting back with the tips we learned from our experience! Don’t Overlook Minion Land Much like other Universal parks around the world, Universal Studios Singapore is also home to a Minion Land. But even though the rides are the same as in other parks, we’re begging you not to skip over this area! This is honestly probably the BEST version of Minion Land that we’ve seen, because everything was so detailed! Minion Land There are three rides in Minion Land — Despicable Me Minion Mayhem, Silly Swirly swing ride, and Buggie Boogie carousel — and even if you decide to bypass them, it’s still absolutely worth taking some time to explore the land itself and take in all of the details. Leave Plenty of Time for Far Far Away Far Far Away is the park’s Shrek-themed land, and if there’s one selling point for all of Universal Studios Singapore, this is it! This land is HUGE, and it’s incredibly detailed, just like Minion Land. One of our favorite parts of our visit was strolling through and looking for all of the Easter eggs and special touches. Far Far Away! Shrek 4D still lives on in Universal Studios Singapore, which is great news for any Shrek fans who still miss its presence in Universal Studios Florida! Of course, we had to ride it while we were there to pay our respects, and while we enjoyed the nostalgia of the experience, we can honestly say we understand why it closed in Orlando. The advancements in ride technology have come a long way since it debuted, but we totally get it if you want to ride it for old time’s sake! Shrek 4D Lives on in Singapore! There are several other rides and attractions in Far Far Away, too. Unfortunately, the land’s big attraction, Puss in Boots’ Giant Journey, was closed for scheduled maintenance while we were there. The other rides in the land are okay, but nothing to write home about necessarily, so we got the most out of our time there by enjoying the atmosphere of the land itself…and it was STILL one of our favorite parts of the park! Check the Ride Closures Before You Book This is a tip that goes for a vacation to ANY theme park in the world, not just Universal Studios Singapore, but it’s worth repeating to check the park’s website for scheduled ride closures before you book your trip! The rides are closed for routine maintenance periodically, and if there’s anything on your must-do list, you’ll want to make sure it’s open while you’re there. Puss in Boots’ Giant Journey was Closed for Refurbishment We ran into this first-hand with the closure of Puss in Boots’ Giant Journey. We didn’t have much flexibility in our travel dates since we were in Singapore for a sailing on the Disney Adventure, so we weren’t able to be picky about when we visited. But if you do have a more open schedule for when you can visit, make sure the rides you’re most excited about will be up and running! Try the Shrek Waffle While we were in Far Far Away, we also picked up a Shrek Waffle, which is one of the park’s internet-famous treats. Snacks that play well on social media don’t always deliver in actual taste, but we can confirm that the Shrek Waffle is worth the hype! Shrek Waffle The waffle was made fresh to order, and it came with a scoop of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream on the side. It was the perfect sweet treat we were looking for, and we’re happy to report that this trendy treat actually does translate IRL! If The Mummy is Too Much for You, Try Treasure Hunters Universal Studios Singapore has its own version of Revenge of the Mummy, the thrilling indoor roller coaster also found at other Universal parks. And if you’ve always wanted to experience the ride for its story, but can’t handle the intensity, you could try riding Treasure Hunters instead! Treasure Hunters Ride Vehicle Treasure Hunters is a family-friendly ride that lets you fulfil your dreams of becoming an archaeologist in ancient Egypt. It was quite possibly the slowest-moving ride we’ve ever been on, so no worries about speed or G-force here! Even though it’s definitely not a beat-for-beat recreation, the ride does loosely follow a similar storyline as Revenge of the Mummy in a way, so it’s a super low-key alternative if there’s no chance you’re hopping on a coaster! Choose Your Intensity on Battlestar Galactica: Human vs. Cylon Battlestar Galactica: Human vs. Cylon is the world’s tallest dueling roller coaster, and one of the park’s headliner attractions. It’s a massive coaster, so there’s no way to completely escape the intensity, but if you’d prefer a slightly more chill experience, go for the Human side. The Human Side is Slightly Less Intense In comparison, the Cylon side is a suspended coaster that was more intense than its Human counterpart — which we suppose is fitting! Experience Attractions No Longer Available at Universal Orlando One cool part of our trip to Universal Studios Singapore was getting the chance to experience several attractions that used to also be in Universal Orlando, but have since closed. Of course, we already mentioned Shrek 4D, but Lights, Camera, Action, hosted by Steven Spielberg, was another pleasant surprise, as it might have been our favorite attraction of the day! Lights, Camera, Action We were surprised by how thrilling and scary it was as someone who didn’t know what to expect, since we actually hadn’t had the chance to experience it in Orlando before it closed! Don’t Sleep on Sesame Street Speaking of pleasant surprises, Sesame Street Spaghetti Space Chase was another highlight of our day! It’s one of the park’s newer attractions that takes you on a space mission using the same ride system as E.T. in Universal Orlando. Sesame Street Spaghetti Space Chase We found the theming of the ride really endearing and sweet, plus it’s currently exclusive to Universal Singapore, so we’d say it’s definitely worth experiencing while you’re there! We’ve had so much fun getting to try new experiences alllll over the world in the past few months, and we’ve got more of our top tips coming your way soon, so keep an eye on DFB for more insider info! 3 Universal Orlando Hotels Fans Aren’t Booking in 2026 Join the DFB Newsletter to get all the breaking news right in your inbox! 19. It’s like everywhere you turn in Disney World, you’re going to run into construction of some kind. Now, construction can be a little annoying, but it can also mean good things are on the way. For example, Magic Kingdom is building a new land and an expansion. Disney’s Animal Kingdom is building a new land. Disney’s Hollywood Studios is building a new land and reimagining another one. Wailulu Bar & Grill! Yep, there’s a lot of construction happening, but at least Disney gives us a heads up when construction is on the way. That’s why we’re warning you about some construction coming to a Disney World hotel restaurant. This new construction is happening at Wailulu Bar and Grill at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort Island Tower (yep, one of our favorite new Disney World restaurants is already getting some updates). The construction is scheduled to begin on April 23rd and last through late June. It will involve updating the exterior roofing at the restaurant. Wailulu Bar & Grill The good news is that the restaurant will remain open while the work is happening, but you may see and hear some construction, especially outside. However, some things will change while the restaurant is open. The bar will only offer walk-up service every day until 5 PM, and seating will not be available. Grilled Tofu Poke Bowl at Wailulu However, seating will resume from 5 PM through close. Disney confirmed that construction will be noticeable during daytime hours, but it will try to keep disruptions to a minimum for restaurant visitors. Seating will be available after 5 PM This is in addition to the work currently being done at Trader Sam’s Tiki Terrace, which is attached to Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto just off the main hotel lobby. This closure will probably last at least through June, so keep that in mind if you’re visiting the Polynesian. We’ll keep an eye out for more construction updates in Disney World, so stay tuned to DFB for more. I Compared Burgers From Disney World’s Wailulu Grill and Steakhouse 71. 20. We don’t want to come off as dramatic, but…when will we get a break from all the closures happening at Disney World?! Disney’s Art of Animation Resort While we will be seeing stuff reopen at the Disney World parks very soon, it feels like a ton of Disney World Resort hotels have been getting hit with closures and refurbishments lately. If you have a trip coming up, and you’re thinking about staying at the Art of Animation, you may want to be aware of a tiny closure at the hotel. Disney’s Art of Animation Resort is a more budget-friendly option at Disney World. It’s a popular spot that’s themed to some of Disney and Pixar’s most iconic films. Art of Animation Right now, the Righteous Reef playground at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort is closed for maintenance from April 20th to April 28th. You’ll find the playground in the Finding Nemo section of the resort, which features Squirt with coral-reef slides. It’s a fun and cute spot for kiddos! Righteous Reef Playground While it’s not a massive deal, this is a spot where little ones can often go to have fun and get out some energy that isn’t at the busy parks. Luckily, the closure window is very short, and the park is expected to open at some point early next week. Art of Animation Guests may see or hear maintenance in the Finding Nemo area until the work is complete. Disney is usually good at staying out of the way of guests when working, but you’ll want to be aware of this if you’re staying in the Finding Nemo section of the resort. Crush at Disney’s Art of Animation There are still some fun options at the resort for little ones to make up for the closed playground. Check out the Schoolyard Spray Ground at Art of Animation, which you’ll find in the Finding Nemo area. It’s a colorful splash pad that features Nemo’s classmates and fun themed decor. The Schoolyard Sprayground Of course, there’s also the Big Blue Pool where you can go for a dip! The Big Blue Pool The agents at Small World Vacations know how to save money on your Disney vacation! 21. There are a few big things we’d tell you to put on your must-do list in Disney World, and among them is a very popular nighttime show. Fantasmic! Fantasmic is a half-hour nighttime spectacular in Disney’s Hollywood Studios where you actually get to sit down (hallelujah — that’s rare for Disney World nighttime shows!) and watch a show full of Disney magic, fan-favorite characters, water effects, projections, and pyrotechnics. Seriously, it’s a highlight of any Disney trip! And if you’re hoping to see it on your upcoming vacation, you need to know that the showtimes are changing. For the next few Fridays and Saturdays through May 9th, Fantasmic will be showing not once, but TWICE a night! This is a great opportunity to see the show with lower crowds, as the second performance on those nights will be much less busy. Fantasmic! For those shows, there will be performances at 9PM and 10:30PM, meaning that the second performance will actually begin after the park closes — you won’t have to miss out on any park time to watch it! For either show, we typically recommend arriving 30+ minutes before the show starts so that you can get a seat. On nights when there’s only one show or the park is particularly busy, the theater can fill up. Fantasmic! crowds Another important Fantasmic change to note is that from June 14th through the end of the current calendar (which is June 20th), there will be one performance a night starting at 9:05PM. This is a somewhat unusual showtime for Fantasmic, since it typically starts on the hour or half-hour. It probably won’t affect things too much, but just add that extra five minutes into your schedule if you’re visiting then. Fantasmic! There are a lot of reasons to be visiting Hollywood Studios this summer, so it’s possible that we could see more dual-performance nights in the near future. We’ll keep you updated! With Cool Kids’ Summer, the revamp of Animation Courtyard into Walt Disney Studios, and the new Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets set to open, this park is going to be POPULAR. 23. For most people, walking into a Disney World hotel marks the start of a vacation — and we definitely agree with that! Disney’s Riviera Resort The vibes are high, and the magic is in the air before you ever set foot in the parks, so what could be better than that?! We love staying in Disney World hotels for the convenience, the theming, and the feeling of never having to leave the Disney bubble. If you’re heading to the Most Magical Place on Earth soon, make sure you do these three things as soon as you get to your Disney World hotel! Check in at the front desk When you get to your Disney World hotel, you may be tempted to use the Mobile Check-in feature in the My Disney Experience app. While that can be convenient in some cases, you’re almost always better off checking in at the Front Desk in person. When you check in on the app, the system will randomly assign you a room in the category you booked — but the Front Desk is different. Front Desk at Art of Animation Front Desk Cast Members will often find you the absolute BEST room in the category you booked, instead of assigning you a random one. This might be a room that’s closest to the elevators, transportation, dining, or the pool. You can also request specific rooms when checking in at the Front Desk, which is not something you can do online. If you have any special requests, like a crib, extra towels, or a roll-away bed, this is also when you can request those, too. All-Star Movies Front Desk Not only that, but if you’re celebrating something special, Front Desk Cast Members often have celebration buttons and will be more than happy to give you these FREE souvenirs for your trip, depending on what you’re celebrating! In most cases, speaking to an actual human instead of letting the system assign you a room will likely be your best bet. A Definitive Ranking of Every Disney World Hotel Clock the transportation Some Disney World resorts are HUGE and spread out. If it’s your first time staying at a particular hotel, it’s probably a good idea to map out your route to park transportation once you get there — so you know how long it will take you when you’re heading to the parks. Whether you’re planning on taking a bus, a boat, the Skyliner, or the Monorail, figuring out where your room is located in relation to transportation can save you time — and a bit of sanity — when it comes down to rope drop time. Skyliner at Disney’s Riviera Resort Luckily, each Disney World hotel is mapped out in the My Disney Experience app, which means it should be relatively easy for you to find the best route. It will even tell you how far a walk it is from your location! This is also a great tip for finding dining at your hotel — you don’t want to be wandering around all hangry! Ranking Disney World Hotels Based on Transportation Grab a bite to eat Speaking of hangry, if you’ve had a long travel day, we think grabbing a bite to eat — and maybe even a drink from the pool bar or hotel lounge is another great thing to do when you first arrive. Being hungry on your first day is NO fun, and with so many fantastic restaurants around the Disney World hotels, you might even find a new favorite place to eat — especially if it’s your first time staying there. You had us at Nachos This can help prevent meltdowns (for both kiddos AND adults) and is usually a relatively relaxing activity for your first day at Disney World before hitting the parks.
