  1. It’s almost summertime at Disney World, and you know what that means? It means rain…rain…and MORE RAIN! Shoe Covers If you’ve been in Florida during the summer, you know how unpredictable the weather can be. You need to bring those essential items that will keep you dry…but what about your shoes? Let us introduce you to one of our favorite essentials that we bring on every Disney World trip! DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. Get the Silicone Waterproof Shoe Covers Silicone Waterproof Shoe Covers Let us show you our Silicone Waterproof Shoe Covers! We’re not ashamed to admit it, we’re happy we broke down and bought a pair of these suckers, even if they look a little goofy. They really did the trick, despite us lowkey having ZERO faith in them at first glance. Easy does it! They actually do what they’re billed to do! It may be in your best interest to size up to alleviate any discomfort from the zipper top. But these really do work on a wet and rainy day. Silicone Waterproof Shoe Covers They work, but they’re not 100% fool proof, so you need to pay attention when you put them on. If you’ve got an open gap to the top, then you’re leaving room for rain to get in. When we walked against the rain instead of with it, we could tell rain was getting in simply because it was hitting our legs and trickling down. They look ridiculous…but hear us out. With as often as it rains in Florida, and to keep from having to deal with wet, smelly shoes during your trip or when packing up afterwards, these are absolutely worth it! It honestly made our trip so much easier. Oh, and the price is great as well. 3. Y’all, it’s happening!!! ©Disney We’re screaming and crying because this is the BEST look we’ve gotten at the new Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets in Hollywood Studios, and if you weren’t excited before, I think these photos might turn that around. We just got a clear look at the iconic guitar outside the attraction. Disney has been working on repainting the classic red into a psychedelic color scheme that looks like it’s straight out of The Electric Mayhem. Looking great! There are still a lot of walls blocking the area, but we’re just getting SO excited. The colors look sharp and so bright, and we’re definitely going to need a PhotoPass stop right in front of it. We can’t wait to ride Disney already repainted the car outside the attraction, too, which definitely looks like they gave Animal a can of spray paint (in the best way, of course — we think Animal is an incredible painter). Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring the Muppets The attraction opens on May 26th, which is less than a month away. We feel like we’ve been waiting forever, so we’re thrilled it’s finally happening. The set list for the ride was released, which includes: Song 2 — The Electric Mayhem Born To Be Wild — The Electric Mayhem ft. Camilla the Chicken Love Rollercoaster — The Electric Mayhem ft. Jennider Hudson & Questlove Rock! Rock! (Till You Drop) — The Electric Mayhem ft. Def Leppard Walking on Sunshine — The Electric Mayhem ft. Kelly Clarkson ©Disney We even got a look at inside the queue and loading zone, which is filled with lots of Muppet easter eggs, so you should probably rewatch a bunch of the movies and TV shows if you want to catch all the details. Of course, anyone can enjoy it without knowing the full background, but there’s something so fun about spotting the details everyone might be missing! 4. Disney World gets hot – and we mean uncomfortably sweaty mess hot. But with the help of this $13 mini fan, we’re staying cool from rope drop to fireworks! LACOVIA Mini Fan This portable misting fan is perfect to throw in your bag and head out to the parks. Plus, did we mention it’s Mickey-shaped? DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. The LACOVIA Cute Mouse Misting Mini Fan is perfect for your next park day! LACOVIA Mini Fan Who can resist the charms of a fan with Mickey ears that fits in your pocket?! This fan has 3 speeds, and also has feet for it to be sat on a table while you’re seated to keep the fan upright without tipping over, and it has a plastic cage around the actual fan part, so you don’t have to worry about a little one sticking their fingers in it. It’s also rechargeable with a USB-C charging cord that comes with it and lights up red while it’s charging. It’s fairly easy to work, and the back stick folds and rotates down so you can have a longer handle. LACOVIA Mini Fan The misting fan creates a small stream of mist from the center ring just under the fan, but it’s not the strongest, so you need to spray it relatively close to your face. While the water reservoir is small, filling it to the top lasts us for a week of spraying often. It also includes a dropper for the water reserve, so it’s easier to fill, and it’s small enough to take with you on the go. You absolutely need this fan for Disney World since it’s compact enough to fit inside even the smallest bags! view ON AMAZON We’re always on the hunt for the latest and greatest Disney souvenirs and essentials, so don’t forget to stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for more! 5. During Disney Week of Wishes, we’re celebrating the extraordinary power of a wish — and the incredible Make-A-Wish kids who inspire us every single day. Did You Know? A Disney wish is granted every hour of every day! All week long, Disney Experiences around the world are coming together with Make-A-Wish to help make wishes come true for children facing critical illnesses. This page will be updated throughout the week with stories of courage, happiness, and imagination as Make-A-Wish kids and their families experience unforgettable moments across Disney Parks, resorts, and beyond. Since the first official wish was granted at Disneyland 45 years ago, Disney has worked with Make-A-Wish to grant more than 175,000 life-changing wishes around the world.  Whether they’re stepping into immersive adventures, meeting beloved characters, or seeing their biggest dreams come to life, each wish is a powerful reminder that true heroism is found in bravery, hope, and heart. Check back all week long as we continue to share new stories from around the globe, each one celebrating the magic that happens when a wish comes true. April 27, 2026: Walt Disney World Rededicates the Newly Reimagined Wish Lounge In honor of Disney Week of Wishes, Walt Disney World recently rededicated the newly reimagined Wish Lounge at Magic Kingdom, a special space reserved exclusively for Make‑A‑Wish families to rest, recharge, and spend time together during their visit. At the center of the rededication celebration was Paxton – 6 years old, with a wish to visit Walt Disney World. He stood alongside his family, Disney Experiences Chairman Thomas Mazloum, Walt Disney World President Jeff Vahle, and cast member and former Make-A-Wish kid Abigail to celebrate the magic the lounge will create for all of the wish families to come. The moment became even more special when Paxton’s favorite characters, Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse, surprised the group, turning the celebration into an unforgettable memory. Cast member Abigail, whose own wish trip brought her to Walt Disney World over a decade ago, first visited the Wish Lounge during her wish. After experiencing the lasting impact of her own trip, she knows how life-changing a Disney wish can be for kids with critical illnesses. Today, Abigail creates that magic herself and helps bring wish‑granting moments to life for other families as part of the more than 7,000 wishes granted at the resort each year. “As part of the entertainment team, I help kids and their families meet their favorite characters,” said Abigail. “It’s so special to be able to do that because that’s what the cast members did for me on my Make-A-Wish trip. So it really is a full-circle moment.” Recently refreshed with new artwork and thoughtful design details inspired by wish‑granting moments from beloved Disney stories, the Wish Lounge reflects the heart of a Disney wish, offering families a quiet, welcoming retreat during a day full of magic. Now open to wish families from around the world, the newly reimagined Wish Lounge stands as a place of comfort, hope, and joy, and a meaningful reminder of the impact wishes have every single day at Walt Disney World. 8. Do you need a Lightning Lane strategy for Disney’s Animal Kingdom? I’ve got you covered! Attraction Sign at Animal Kingdom directing Guests to Standby Line and Lightning Lane Entrances We’ve used the various Lightning Lane systems in this park dozens of times (maybe even hundreds, at this point!), and we’ve got our strategy down to a SCIENCE. So here, I’m breaking down everything you need to know about Lightning Lanes in Animal Kingdom, and how to navigate your day with or without them. Do You Need Lightning Lanes in Animal Kingdom? The first question you’ve got to ask is “do you actually need to use Lightning Lanes in Animal Kingdom?” And unlike Magic Kingdom or Hollywood Studios, where there are a bunch of high wait times for popular attractions, this park is a bit easier to navigate. Honestly, in most cases, we tell people that they might not need to purchase a Lightning Lane option for Animal Kingdom. Kali River Rapids Lightning Lane sign in Disney’s Animal Kingdom This park doesn’t have very many rides, and several of them are easy to hop in line for during rope drop hours or at the end of the day. As long as you go into your park day with a strategy, you can probably conquer Animal Kingdom without Lightning Lane, given that it’s not the most crowded seasons of the year. However, if you want to use Lightning Lanes to make your day easier and your waits shorter, we’re here to break it all down. 50 Amazing Things You Never Knew Were in Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lightning Lane Multi Pass Starting out the list of Lightning Lane options, we have Lightning Lane Multi Pass. This option is one price to access all but one Lightning Lane in the park. The price typically ranges somewhere from $16-$32 per person, per day for Animal Kingdom (pre-tax). You can purchase Lightning Lane Multi Pass up to 7 days before your trip if you’re staying at a Disney Resort, and you can purchase up to 3 days before your visit to the park if you’re staying off-property. when and if you should use it, how much it typically costs, note that there are no tiers at this park, list all the Multi Pass options and which order you should choose them in Lightning Lane Entry With Lightning Lane Multi Pass, you’ll be able to choose 3 selections at the time of booking, then as you scan into a Lightning Lane in the park, you “free up” that slot and can book another. Unlike the other parks, there is no “tier” system for booking Lightning Lanes at Animal Kingdom, so you’re free to select any 3 options from the list for your initial choices. Na’vi River Journey In Animal Kingdom, the following attractions are available to book through Lightning Lane Multi Pass: Expedition Everest – Legend of the Forbidden Mountain Feathered Friends in Flight! Festival of the Lion King Finding Nemo: The Big Blue… and Beyond! Kali River Rapids Kilimanjaro Safaris Naʻvi River Journey Zootopia: Better Zoogether! Lightning Lane for the Festival of the Lion King Of these options, Na’vi River Journey is the clear first pick. It books up the fastest and has the longest wait of the attractions listed. Along with it, good options for your initial three picks include Kilimanjaro Safaris (the park’s flagship ride that often has a 30-60 minute wait), Zootopia: Better Zoogether! (the newest attraction on the list and fairly popular), or Kali River Rapids (if it’s hot outside, this one is BUSY). A giraffe on Kilimanjaro Safaris After those, Festival of the Lion King is the best choice of the theater shows because its theater often fills up. Using Lightning Lane there means you’ll get a better seat and make it into that particular show. Just keep in mind that Lightning Lanes typically have 60 minute return windows, but for shows with dedicated showtimes, they’re often shorter than that. Expedition Everest could also be a good second-round pick if you’re a thrill junkie. This ride, however, doesn’t usually get a super-long wait because it loads quickly, and it also has a fairly effective single rider queue. Here’s the Full Guide to Lightning Lane Multi Pass in Disney World Lightning Lane Single Pass Moving on to the next option on our list, it’s time to talk about the most popular ride in the park! Lightning Lane Single Pass is a single-use Lightning Lane for each park’s most popular attraction(s), and in Animal Kingdom, you can use this to ride Avatar Flight of Passage. Yes, that’s the ride where you board a banshee and fly over Pandora. It’s VERY popular. Flight of Passage entrance Flight of Passage often has waits of over an hour, and it can get a multi-hour wait on busy days. The queue is also fairly brutal because a large portion of it involves standing in the sun outdoors. Those things add up to make Single Pass a very popular purchase at Animal Kingdom. Like Multi Pass, you can buy this one 7 days before your trip if you’re staying at a Disney Resort and 3 days before your park visit if you’re not. When you purchase, you’ll select a return window during which you’ll go to the ride entrance and scan in at the Lightning Lane. The price for this typically ranges from $16-$19 per person, per day (pre-tax). “And, uhh… FLY!” Probably the most popular Lightning Lane strategy for Animal Kingdom is to skip purchasing Multi Pass and only purchase Single Pass. That alone could save you more than an hour of park time. If you’re planning to visit during a busy season, the Single Pass for Flight of Passage can sell out ahead of time, so know if you plan to purchase it when your booking opens. See Our Guide to Using Single Pass in Disney World Here! Lightning Lane Premier Pass Finally, there’s Lightning Lane Premier Pass, Disney World’s fanciest Lightning Lane offering. This one will run you anywhere from $139-$199 per person, per day (pre-tax), and it allows access to ALL Lightning Lanes in the park, without having to reserve times to visit attractions. Expedition Everest Lightning Lane The beauty of this system is that you simply purchase it (7 days in advance for Disney Resort guests, 3 days in advance for those who aren’t) and then use it. You can scan into any of the Lightning Lanes at any time the attraction is open with one Lightning Lane access per attraction, per day. It’s easy to use, but it’s very expensive. Pandora Really the only times we’d recommend purchasing this is if you’re visiting Animal Kingdom during a particularly busy season, or if you have the space in your budget and want to have as smooth an experience as possible. Using Premier Pass would likely make it easy to do the entire park in half a day, so it could fit well for that purpose if you have the funds. See Our Complete Guide to Premier Pass Here! Tips for Doing Animal Kingdom Without Lightning Lanes Now, on to the good stuff! If you’re not interested in spending the money on Lightning Lanes for Animal Kingdom, you definitely don’t have to! Here are my suggestions for navigating the park without it. The main key here is maximizing your time in the park. Animal Kingdom is typically pretty quiet when it first opens in the morning (it opens earlier than the other parks) and it also tends to calm down quite a bit at the end of the day (since there aren’t many attractions in the park right now, people leave early). Therefore, you’ll want to concentrate the most popular rides during those times. Disney’s Animal Kingdom Pandora is the most popular part of the park right now, so you’ll either want to use Early Theme Park Entry and rope drop Flight of Passage, followed by Na’vi River Journey, or do them in the last two hours of the day when wait times drop. You can get in line for rides right up until park closing time, no matter the wait time. The floating mountains in Pandora Other popular attractions to knock out when wait times are low are Zootopia: Better Zoogether! and Kilimanjaro Safaris. The safari typically closes early, so that’s not one you’ll want to save until the very end of the day (check the day’s operating hours in the My Disney Experience app). For Expedition Everest, I recommend using the single rider queue if your party is fine with splitting up, and Kali River Rapids isn’t usually too long of a wait unless it’s the hottest part of the day. Zootopia: Better Zoogether The theater shows are best saved for the middle of the day when attraction wait times are high. They have limited showtimes, so make sure to check the app for those as well. The middle of the day is also a great time to squeeze in some character meet-and-greets. Carl and Russell With those tips in mind, you can totally conquer Animal Kingdom without Lightning Lanes, but if you choose to use the system, make sure you use it wisely! 10. For over 75 years, the artists at Walt Disney Imagineering have crafted Disney’s theme parks, resorts, and rides. Artists like Rolly Crump, Tony Baxter, and Marc Davis – among hundreds of others have imbued the company’s rides and attractions with grandeur, magic… and secrets? Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind From references to past attractions that have been replaced to tributes to other Imagineers, these tiny references are hidden inside some of Disney’s most famous rides. Most of them aren’t even noticeable to the naked eye, but for guests who know where to look, they add another layer to Imagineering’s rich history. Toad Hall Still Stands The Magic Kingdom’s Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh somewhat controversially, replaced Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride over 30 years ago. However, a reference to the former attraction is still present. As you’re heading into Owl’s house on the Fantasyland attraction, look to your left, and you’ll notice a photo of Mr. Toad handing the deed for the attraction over to Owl. Portrait of Mr. Toad in The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh 20,000 Leagues Sails On The 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea Submarine Voyage was a staple attraction at Walt Disney World from its opening day in 1971 through 1994. These days, the site that was once occupied by the massive attraction is currently home to Under the Sea – Journey of the Little Mermaid. On the latter attraction’s queue, a carving of the iconic Nautilis can be seen embedded in the rockwork. Can you see it? “No One’s Gonna Stop Rock & Roll – or Ellen’s Energy Adventure – from Existing!” Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind has several references to both its immediate predecessor, Ellen’s Energy Adventure, as well as the Universe of Energy. These include: A column inside the ride featuring script written in the fictional Xandarian language. If you translate it to English, the top left says Ellen, the top right says Alex (as in Alex Trebek — who was also featured in the ride), the bottom left says E=MC squared, and the bottom right says dino. In addition, if you look closely at a set of ship schematics featured in the second pre-show room, at the bottom right, you can see the old Universe of Energy symbol. During the ride, you can also hear a bit of what sounds like an electric guitar version of the old Universe of Energy theme song as the Guardians “fly” into space right at the start of the ride. Listen for when the Celestial says, “What is that noise?“ just before the launch. Finally, during the reverse launch, there’s another reference to some dialogue straight from Ellen’s Energy Adventure, which involved Ellen mishearing Bill Nye talking about the Big Bang. If you listen closely, you’ll hear Star-Lord say “Big Bang!” followed by Drax asking, “Ding dang?” Can you see it? It’s Mary Blair’s World After All The legendary Mary Blair was the creative spearhead behind the iconic look of “it’s a small world”, designing the whimsical doll-like, color palette, and overall design sense that would be used for the ride. As Imagineer Rolly Crump put it, “I knew it was only going to work if everything looked like Mary Blair. As far as I was concerned, this is a Mary Blair ride.” ©D23 Crump and his team took things even further, inserting a tribute to Blair into the Disneyland attraction (yes, this is a cheat) itself with the inclusion of a doll located atop the Eiffel Tower in the French section with the likeness of Blair and a costume inspired by her clothing choices. ©Disney Disney Imagineers have a long history of dropping hidden secrets and references into many of the company’s attractions. 12. It’s time for some fun in Disney Springs! Spring is here, and with that comes lots of things to celebrate. Disney Springs School is almost out for the summer, Cool Kids Summer is kicking off in Disney World, and popular rides are about to reopen in Disney World. If you want to get in on the fun without a park ticket, we have just the spot for you to check out in Disney Springs! There are a ton of amazing restaurants in Disney Springs that we rant and rave about. One of the most tried and true spots is Raglan Road Irish Pub! Raglan Road This table service spot offers amazing Irish dishes, live entertainment, drinks, and more. From May 1st until May 31st, there are several limited-time events coming to this popular spot! The longest event for World Whisky Day. This day is officially on May 16th, but the restaurant is celebrating all month long. The restaurant will be offering the Triple Your Pleasure Whisky Flight for $40. This flight includes: Killowen Rum & Raisin Cask – traditional Irish whiskey, a five-year malt aged in bourbon casks, then finished in dark rum and PX sherry casks. Dingle Single Malt – made with local Irish barley and influenced by Dingle’s coastal climate, matured in bourbon, oloroso sherry, and Pedro Ximenez casks, blended using a solera system for a smooth, balanced flavor. Teelings BlackPitts – a modern, award-winning Irish whiskey triple distilled and matured in ex-bourbon and Sauternes wine casks, lightly peated for a bold but smooth, smoky flavor. Irish dancers at Raglan Road They are also offering special entrees for the month, like: Teeling Blackpitts Pork Ribs for $22 – Half rack of slow‑cooked pork ribs, brushed with a Teeling Blackpitts Irish whiskey glaze that brings a warm peat‑smoked sweetness, caramel depth, and a lingering whisper of charred oak. Dingle Whiskey Glazed Salmon Risotto $36 – Seared salmon brushed with a Dingle Single Malt whiskey glaze, offering bright honeyed notes, soft spice, and a clean coastal finish. Served over a rich, buttery risotto with sweet green peas, zucchini, lemon zest, and a touch of herb oil to balance the whiskey’s warmth. Sticky Toffee Pudding with Killowen Rum & Raisin Whiskey Sauce $15 – A classic Irish‑style sticky toffee pudding soaked in dark caramel and served with a warm, fruity Killowen Rum & Raisin Cask whiskey sauce layered with notes of molasses and toasted spice. Finished with a crisp whiskey snap biscuit for an added touch of sweetness and crunch. Ger’s Bread Pudding It’s not just about World Whisky Day, though! The restaurant is also celebrating Cinco de Mayo! From May 2nd through May 5th, you can find two special items: Pulled BBQ Pork Tacos for $22.50 – jalapeno salsa, pickled red onion and slaw, corn puree, and diced Granny apples on a potato taco Pale Lass specialty cocktail for $17 – Cazadores Reposado Tequila, Italicus liqueur, hibiscus water, lemon sour, and honey, topped with sparkling Fever Tree grapefruit soda On May 5th, if you get the tacos and the cocktail, you can get both the tacos and the cocktail for $29. You Say Pork Taco from the restaurant’s St. Patrick’s Festival celebrations The restaurant isn’t leaving the Moms out, though! On Mother’s Day (May 10th), every mother will receive a complimentary “Mom-mosa” and a chocolate bonbon when dinner is over. She deserves it! This is a one-day-only offer. Dancers at Raglan Road We are huge fans of this restaurant (especially the Ger’s Bread and Butter Pudding), and we will take an excuse to stop by! 13. This is Halloween, this is Halloween! That’s what we’re singing right now because Disney is hinting at spooky news coming soon. Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party! We’re about halfway to Halloween season at Disney World and Disneyland, which means Disney is going to start announcing details about Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, special treats and offerings, and anything else that comes with one of the best holidays. This teaser has us SUPER excited for what’s to come. Disney Parks Blog, Disney’s official blog, has turned Halloween with a message that we will get a “full reveal” on April 28th. ©Disney Below, there are two tarot-looking cards, and if you scroll over them, there’s a hidden message. If you put together all the capital letters, it says “AUGUST,” which is when the Halloween season starts in Disney World. We know, we know, super early, but you need time to get in all the fun! ©Disney The second card contains a riddle stating that special items are coming based on the trinkets in the photo. If you look closer, you can see fun details like a tiny Maleficent, the symbol from Agatha All Along, the poisoned apple, a pumpkin king, Ursula, and so much more. I don’t know about you, but as the biggest Agatha All Along fan, I’m hoping we get some references in Disney World, since they usually do something in Disneyland for her! ©Disney Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is an after-hours event in the park that requires a special ticket in addition to your day ticket. It typically gets you into the parks around 4 PM, with the party starting around 7 PM. Once the party starts, you can check out special entertainment like parades and fireworks shows, trick-or-treat, and meet the coolest characters. Jack Skellington and Sally at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party Of course, there are tons of specialty snacks which we’re obsessed with! Not So Scary Snacks! We think the announcement on April 28th will include dates for Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, since they run on select nights from August to the end of October, but we’re also hoping for more details on what to expect at the party. Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party We’ll be sharing the news right here at Disney Food Blog, so make sure you check back to know everything you need to know about spooky season in Disney World and Disneyland. We always go on the opening night of the Halloween parties to share the best details, so you know how to get the most out of your trip. IS MICKEY’S NOT-SO-SCARY HALLOWEEN PARTY WORTH $229? Magic Kingdom’s Cinderella Castle What started as AJ and a dream has now become a whole team, with writers and reporters in the parks 365 days a year (yes, we’re even working on the holidays), and millions of followers! We spend a lot of time reviewing Disney restaurants to help you make the best decisions for your Disney World vacation. There is a reason our followers trust us to give Disney planning advice, and we love to do it. Our followers can ask us questions and our team truly enjoys answering them! Recently, we had a reader, Erica, write in asking for a good recommendation for a first anniversary dinner with her husband at Disney World. Erica also shared “For context, his favorite food is burgers and pizza and mine is probably chicken nuggets and a crispy coke. We’re very ordinary people who never go out to fancy places”. When AJ threw this question out to our team we were quick to responsed because honestly — we LOVE talking about Disney food! The Hollywood Brown Derby So where did our team say? The Cake Bake Shop Restaurant by Gwendolyn Rogers was one of the top choices. While it is fancier than a quick service, we love the chicken tenders here! The menu has a ton of options, from sandwiches, salads, and burgers. The atmosphere is stunning here and would be a date night to remember. Read About Our Cake Bake Review Here! We’ve found THE BEST chicken tenders on Disney World property! Our team also agreed that Steakhouse 71 would be another great fit. It is home to one of our FAVORITE burgers at Disney World! This restaurant is more elevated, making it great for celebrating an anniversary. Don’t forget the delicious cocktails you can grab here as well. You Can See Our Latest Steakhouse 71 Review Here! 17. Southwest Airlines has been making a lot of changes recently, including removing its free checked-bag perk and switching to assigned seating. Now, Southwest Airlines has added a NEW perk, and wine lovers are going to be excited about this one. Southwest just announced its new Sip and Ship Program, which will allow passengers to bring home a case of wine from their favorite wine country destination. The best part? The case of wine flies for free! ©Southwest Airlines No special membership required and no checked baggage fees. That’s right, you can bring home an entire case of wine for free when you fly on Southwest Airlines. Of course, there are a few caveats, so let’s dive into the details of this new perk. If you are a wine lover, the new Sip and Ship program is for you! With the program, you can check a case of wine for free when you travel within the United States from a participating airport. The participating airports are all across the West Coast and the Pacific Northwest wine regions. Here is a look at the participating airports: California Burbank Fresno Long Beach Los Angeles Oakland Ontario Orange County/Santa Ana Palm Springs Sacramento San Diego San Francisco San Jose Santa Barbara Sonoma County Idaho Boise Oregon Eugene Portland Washington Seattle/Tacoma Spokane Southwest Airlines at MCO If you are departing from one of the above participating airports, you can bring one properly packaged case of wine up to 12 bottles. The case must weigh 50 pounds or less and fall within Southwest Airlines’ standard sizing limit. You must also be at least 21 years or older. If you meet all of these requirements, then you can check a case of wine for FREE. Make sure your wine is packed in a sturdy, leakproof container, and bring it unsealed to the Help Desk for inspection by a Customer Service Agent. The agent will ensure it is properly packed, then seal and label the case for you. Southwest Airlines Then just like that, you will be on your way to your final destination with an entire case of wine to enjoy later! 18. We’ve eaten at every single Disney Springs restaurant (well, all restaurants in Disney World, for that matter), and sometimes it can be so hard to choose where to eat. That’s why we’re constantly going back to each restaurant and trying their new food to see if it’s worth a stop. Pastor Pork Tenderloin City Works just dropped new menu items, and we’re diving in. Should this be your go-to at Disney Springs? Let’s find out! We started off with the Lavender Margarita for $15.95, which features Lunazul Blanco, Cointreau, lavender syrup, agave syrup, and a housemade sour mix. Lavender Margarita What a way to start off our meal! This drink was very, very sweet, which we loved. It was very smooth and only burned once the alcohol hit your chest, so it was a lighter drink. The sour mix didn’t really come through, but the lavender was subtle and not as floral as you might expect. The agave flavor is nice and refreshing, and once we added a bit of lime, it brought in a subtle, sour twist. It was a solid choice and very enjoyable. Then we also had the Spicy Watermelon Paloma for $15.95, which has Camarena Silver, lime juice, chili simple syrup, watermelon syrup, and grapefruit soda. Spicy Watermelon Paloma The three words that come to our mind are sweet, sour, and spicy! It burns right at the top of your throat in the best way. We’re not sure whether the spice comes from the chili garnish or the simple syrup, but it was definitely there. The watermelon syrup was the other dominant flavor, which was offset by the sour grapefruit soda and lime juice. For our entrée, we had the Pastor Pork Tenderloin for $30.95, which came with marinated pork tenderloin, grilled pineapple salsa, white onion, cilantro-lime rice, adobo sauce, and micro cilantro. Pastor Pork Tenderloin While the tenderloin was a little hard to cut through, it was pretty juicy on the inside. Not quite as tender as we hoped, but we liked the black pepper seasoning on the outside, which was fairly strong. The pork didn’t have much of a crust, but overall, we enjoyed the flavor. The adobo sauce was a highlight, as it perfectly complemented the pork with its spice. The spice isn’t too hot, but it elevated the flavor and paired well with the sweet pineapple salsa. The rice was fluffy, but the price was where we felt a little lost. Most of the dish is rice, and $30 is a lot for the entree, which did have good flavor but didn’t blow us away. Juicy but a bit tougher than we would like Finally, we ended with Funfetti Funnel Cake for $12.45. This is a funnel cake with vanilla ice cream, orange cream cheese frosting, berry jam, and fruity pebbles, so no sprinkles here! Funfetti Funnel Cake The funnel cake was crunchy and fluffy, and we really enjoyed the ice cream. The berry jam was the dominating flavor and overpowered the orange cream cheese frosting. The fruity pebbles added a fun crunch, too. Was it wildly unique? No, but it was a fun option that the whole table could enjoy. Lots of fruity pebbles Overall, we’re not sure we would run back for the Pastor Pork Tenderloin, but we did enjoy our Lavender Margarita and funnel cake. In general, City Works has many comforting, familiar dishes and usually has room for larger parties, so it can be a great place to stop by, even if you don’t order the new menu items. New menu These dishes are only available now through June 16th, so if something is striking your fancy, make sure you get over to City Works soon. 19. There are few things more exciting than the start of a Disney World vacation. The anticipation, the planning, and the travel all culminate with arrival at one of Disney’s hotels and enjoying all the perks that go along with them. The Monorail INSIDE Contemporary Resort However, there are a few things any guest checking in needs to keep in mind, especially when it comes to one of Disney’s newest – and most popular – resort perks. In January 2025, Disney introduced a new water park perk for hotel guests, which gave each member of their party admission to one of Walt Disney World’s water parks — Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon — on their check-in day. Blizzard Beach The perk proved popular, especially during the summer months, when Disney had BOTH water parks open simultaneously for the first time in years. Typhoon Lagoon While the first iteration of the offer ended with the dawning of 2026, it will be returning as part of the Cool Kids Summer promotion from May 26th to September 8th. Typhoon Lagoon So, it’s a slam dunk given that you should take advantage of the free water park ticket on your check-in day, right? Well… maybe. The water park is undeniably beneficial for some Disney World guests, but whether you’re among them is another matter. There are some things you need to consider, starting with what time you are scheduled to arrive at your hotel. Will it allow the needed turnaround time to get ready and head to the water park with enough time to enjoy it? The parks are usually open until 6:00 PM, at the latest 7:00 PM during peak times. So, if you’re flying, for example, a flight arriving at MCO any later than 11:00 AM may be too late. Blizzard Beach Beyond timing, you may also want to take your travel day into account. A flight – or long drive, for that matter – that allows you to arrive early enough to get to your hotel and, in turn, to one of the water parks on time, it’s likely to have been a very early and very tiring day. It may be more relaxing to grab a bite and spend time at the hotel pool after travel day. Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort Courtyard Pool A few further tips for your check-in day: Look up dining and transportation options before arrival to have an idea of your plans. Be prepared for your room to potentially not be ready if you arrive too early. Pop Century’s lobby Next time you’re checking into a Walt Disney World hotel, be sure to heed these warnings about your check-in day so your trip starts on the right foot. 21. Universal Orlando Resort may have a lot of projects going on inside its gates — demolition finally just began on The Lost Continent, the new Fast & Furious Hollywood Drift rollercoaster is currently being built, and an expansion could be in the works for Epic Universe — but that’s not all that’s happening in the Universal world. Universal Kids Resort Universal is also in the process of building an entire new theme park in Frisco, Texas, called Universal Kids Resort! The park is expected to open sometime in 2026, and as we’re getting close to halfway through the year, we’re relieved to see so much progress being made on the new resort — it gives us hope that it really WILL hit its opening timeline! For one, the sign for the park and attached hotel is up, and looks great! Looking further into the construction site at the hotel, we can also see the Universal sign has been installed on the hotel, and those colors are really coming to life. We can also see the Universal Kids Resort sign in front of the hotel itself! Universal sign is up on the hotel! It looks like the hotel’s main colors, windows, foliage, decorations, and more seem to be pretty much complete, which is a great sign. We can also see the mural that was painted at the front of the hotel, which features none other than Shrek and Donkey! It’s looking great! Looking into the actual construction site for the park, it’s a little hard to get close and see what’s going on, but from what we can see, we can spot hints of a blue roller coaster, as well as cranes still hard at work bringing the rest of the park to life. The park! We can also see circular signs to direct guests on where to go — yes, the same type of signs you see over in Universal Orlando, especially near Epic Universe. The circular signs are up too! With so much progress being made, it’s our hope that we could hear an opening date sometime in the coming weeks! This new park will feature seven new lands: DreamWorks’ Shrek’s Swamp, Jurassic World Adventure Camp, Nickelodeon’s SpongeBob SquarePants Bikini Bottom, Illumination’s Minions vs. Minions: Bello Bay Club, DreamWorks’ TrollsFest, DreamWorks’ Puss in Boots Del Mar, and the Isle of Curiosity. One thing’s for sure — we’re expecting it to be a BIG hit for kids! More Recent Universal News! 22. Scoring a quiet Disney World hotel stay in 2026 is more possible than you think. Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort With travel patterns shifting and more guests planning around events and school calendars, there are still a handful of windows where crowds dip and resorts feel noticeably calmer. If you’re dreaming of shorter lines, easier dining reservations, and a more relaxed vibe, timing is everything. Here’s a breakdown of the weeks in 2026 when Disney World hotels are most likely to feel surprisingly empty. Early to Mid-May If you’re looking at the calendar right now and thinking you may have missed your chance, don’t worry. The real sweet spot is just ahead. Once the last wave of spring break crowds clears out, early to mid-May tends to calm down in a big way. Pop Century This is that in-between moment where families have wrapped up spring travel, but summer vacation season hasn’t started yet. The EPCOT Flower and Garden Festival is still going strong, so you get all the beauty and seasonal food offerings without peak crowd levels. Hotels during this stretch often feel noticeably less hectic, especially compared to March and early April. First Week of June Early June can feel like a hidden gem on the calendar. The Flower and Garden Festival wraps up at the beginning of the month (on the 1st of June this year), and without a festival drawing extra visitors, the parks can feel a bit more relaxed. Caribbean Beach Resort This timing also lands right before most schools across the country officially let out for summer. That means fewer families are traveling compared to later in June and July. The weather does start to heat up, so you will notice warmer temperatures, but it is still generally more tolerable than the peak of summer. For guests who can handle a little heat, this week can offer a quieter hotel experience. First Week of September September is one of the most consistently underrated times to visit Disney World. While late August can be busy thanks to the start of seasonal events like Halloween parties and the Food and Wine Festival, early September often sees a drop in crowds once the initial excitement settles. Port Orleans French Quarter Most kids are back in school by this point, which plays a huge role in reducing travel demand. Hotels tend to feel calmer, and you may even notice better availability and pricing. The weather is still warm, but it starts to become a bit more manageable compared to the peak summer months. It is also a fun time to enjoy fall decorations without the heavier October crowds. Early to Middle of November This is one of those transitional periods that works in your favor if you time it right. Halloween festivities wind down at the start of November, but the full holiday rush doesn’t begin until Thanksgiving week. Contemporary Resort During early to mid-November, you can often catch a mix of seasonal decor without the overwhelming crowds that come later. Some Christmas decorations begin appearing, giving you a festive atmosphere without the packed parks. Hotel occupancy typically stays lower during this gap, making it a great opportunity for a more peaceful stay. First Week or Two of December December might not seem like a quiet time at first glance, but the very beginning of the month can be surprisingly calm. Many travelers hold off until closer to the holidays or school breaks, which creates a short window where crowds are lighter. Disney’s Beach Club This period is especially appealing because all the holiday offerings are already underway. You can enjoy festive decorations, seasonal treats, and special entertainment without dealing with peak holiday crowds. The weather is also cooler, which adds to the overall comfort of your trip. Hotels during this time often feel more relaxed than you would expect for such a festive season. The Bottom Line There’s no such thing as a completely empty week at Disney World, but these windows give you some of the best odds for a quieter hotel experience in 2026. By planning around festival timing, school schedules, and major holidays, you can significantly improve your chances of enjoying a more laid back trip. Keep in mind that trends can shift from year to year, so flexibility is always your best friend when booking. A little strategic planning can go a long way in turning a busy destination into a surprisingly peaceful getaway. 23. According to Florida Politics, citing court records, the Magic Kingdom expansion at Disney World has been slowed due to Disney’s relationship with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. Piston Peak construction In the records, it looks like Disney’s top leaders voluntarily slowed the expansion of Magic Kingdom because they were hesitant to work with a DeSantis-controlled board. Disney World has been run by a governing structure known as the Reedy Creek Improvement District, and with 400 employees, Reedy Creek has handled Disney World’s infrastructure, roads, and emergency services, similar to a county government. In 2023, the legislature passed a law that gave DeSantis the power to appoint his own allies to the government board, taking away some of Disney’s full power. Reedy Creek Improvement District In a February 2024 deposition, John McGowan, Chief Counsel of the Walt Disney World Resort’s legal department, said, “Everybody understood that we were on the cusp of Reedy Creek being overtaken by a board we assumed, turns out correctly, was going to be a hostile board. Everybody understood that it was the best interest of Disney, Reedy Creek, the legacy of Reedy Creek, everything that Reedy Creek has accomplished as a special district promoting tourism in the district, that it would be the best interest to protect the ability for tourism to continue to be expanded in the way it’s always intended to be expanded.” ©Reedy Creek Meeting Livestream To combat this in 2022, Disney planned to secure the Reedy Creek board’s approval of an agreement granting it development rights to expand Walt Disney World in the future, but the plan had to be approved quickly before DeSantis could appoint new board members. Part of the plan included Disney selling land to its governing board at fair market value to build the public infrastructure needed for Disney’s expansion. This meant that later, it avoided the governing board seizing Disney’s land by eminent domain. When the new DeSantis-appointed board took over, they discovered what the old board had done, which caused tensions between the new board and the Walt Disney Company. In 2023, the new board stripped Disney of all control over Reedy Creek, renaming it the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District. ©Central Florida Tourism Oversight Board Livestream Because Disney was unsure how the new board would work together on land development regulation, the company decided to slow the Magic Kingdom expansion, which had not yet been announced. Disney stopped filing permits, as well. @bioreconstruct on X Since the disagreement, many of the key players involved have found new jobs or positions. All of DeSantis’s original appointees have been replaced with new DeSantis picks on Disney World’s governing board. In a statement for Florida Politics’s story, Disney said, “These matters are in the past, and our development plans are moving full speed ahead with the support of the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District. We have more projects underway at Walt Disney World than at any other point in our history, creating jobs and positive economic impact for Floridians.” ©Bioreconstruct on Instagram There are two major parts of the Magic Kingdom expansion that are currently in the works, including Piston Peak, the Cars-themed land, which is going on the old Tom Sawyer Island and Rivers of America. This will feature two attractions, one an off-road rally race and the other a more family-friendly ride. @Disney The other part is Villains Land, which most fans seem most excited about. Disney has been very quiet with the details, and we’re not sure about any rides or specific information besides this one piece of concept art. Villains Land ©Disney There are currently no estimated timelines for the two projects, but we can see active construction on both sites as they continue expanding Magic Kingdom. 24. Are you heading to Disney World this summer and want to make the absolute most of your vacation? Then it’s important to know ALL the perks you can get while you’re on your vacation! Blizzard Beach That’s where we come in! If you’re staying at a Disney World hotel, there are a lot of perks you’ll want to take advantage of, such as Early Entry and Extended Evening Hours for those staying at Deluxe Resorts. However, in just one month, another MAJOR Disney World perk comes back for ALL hotel guests, and it’s one you won’t want to miss out on. Disney World is home to two water parks — Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon. For years, only one water park was open at a time while the other was under refurbishment. Last summer, though, both water parks were open at the same time for the summer, and the same is happening this summer! From May 26th to September 8th, you’ll be able to visit both water parks, and if you’re staying at a Disney World hotel, you can get a FREE day! Typhoon Lagoon If you’re staying at a Disney World hotel (with the exception of the Campsites at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort), you can get free entry to one of the water parks on your check-in day from May 26th to September 8th, 2026. Now, this is only available on your check-in day, not any other day of your visit, so our recommendation is that you fly or drive in as early as you can, and spend the entire day having fun at no additional cost to you! Blizzard Beach This perk just started in 2025, and it’s already been confirmed to be returning in 2027 as well, though the dates are not set in stone at this time. We’ll continue to update you as we learn more, but if you haven’t already made plans for your first day of vacation at Disney World this year, this may move up high on your list!
