Just a couple of years back, if you wanted to get a decent cup of coffee or tea somewhere inside the Big Purple Gates, you were out of luck. With Nescafe on standby in most spots, the coffee outlook was dismal. And while Twinings teabags are available all over the place, there still wasn’t anything special about them. But in the last few years, Disney has really stepped up their game in both the java and cuppa departments! Today, we’re sharing one of our favorite tips from the DFB Guide to Walt Disney World Dining — Where to Find Good Coffee and Tea in Walt Disney World. Pick up yours today for $4 off using code 2015 right here! StarbucksBy far, the biggest beverage news to hit Disney in the last few years has been its partnership with coffee giant Starbucks. Love them or hate them, you can’t dispute — they’re super popular. The Most Recent Starbucks to Open at Disney — Trolley Car Cafe in Disney’s Hollywood Studios Seriously…there’s a reason for the queue ropes inside! Have you seen a Disney Starbucks on a busy morning? Madness! The Line at a Disney Starbucks Can Get CRAZY Long The first two Starbucks to open in Walt Disney World replaced established eateries — Main Street Bakery in Magic Kingdom and Fountain View in Epcot. Now you can stroll right up to Cinderella Castle with your Vanilla Latte in hand, or enjoy your Frappuccino in the shade of Spaceship Earth. Fountain View Starbucks in Epcot Two additional stores are located in Downtown Disney — one walk-up window nestled between entrances to World of Disney, and a larger store in West Side, which boasts a Starbucks Reserve Counter. Enjoying a Cup of Coffee on the Patio of Starbucks West Side Trolley Car Cafe, the Disney’s Hollywood Studios Starbucks outlet opened just a couple of weeks ago. Trolley Car Cafe is now open! And later this year, the final Walt Disney World store will open in Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Aren’t a fan of Starbucks? Joffrey’s is considered the “official” coffee of Disney World and still operates a number of kiosks throughout the Parks, where you can grab a cup of coffee or a selection of espresso drinks. Great Spots for TeaIf you prefer tea to coffee, there are also some great spots for you to enjoy a cup. And we aren’t just talking about your grandmother’s cup of tea. One of my favorite spots for tea is the Royal Anandapur Royal Tea Company, a Joffrey’s location in Disney’s Animal Kingdom. I especially love to stop by here for an early morning cup and have that part of the Park to myself for just a few minutes. And with a wide array of exotic choices, I can always try something new. Tea selection at Royal Anandapur Tea Company And on hot and steamy days, nothing is better than a Frozen Chai! Frozen Chai at Royal Anandapur Tea Company If you’re looking for full tea service, you may want to check out Afternoon Tea at the Garden View Lounge in Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa. But be sure to book an advance dining reservation — it’s become quite popular. Press Pot CoffeeBut if you’re looking for a great pot of coffee to start your day or end your meal, you have some terrific choices there as well. Many of Disney’s table service restaurants offer fresh Press Pots of Coffee. Often, the coffee variety complements the food served in the particular restaurant. For instance, guests dining at the Polynesian Village Resort can enjoy a press pot of genuine Kona Coffee at Kona Cafe. French Press of Kona Coffee Restaurants like Sanaa, Boma, and Jiko at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge serve Kenyan Coffee in Press Pots. And we’ve recently enjoyed a delicious signature Italian-style blend in Disney’s newest restaurant, Trattoria al Forno, located at the BoardWalk. Press Pot of Coffee at Trattoria al Forno And the best part? Many of the spots offering Press Pots to share are moderately priced table service eateries. Everyone has their own special memories of the Disneyland Resort – for some, it’s a first visit or a favorite show, and for many, it’s celebrating the beginning of an exciting journey with a loved one. In honor of Valentine’s Day, I’m excited to share stories of three memorable proposals stories recalled by cast members from some of our most romantic restaurants – who were able to make these special moments even more magical. Carthay Circle Restaurant and Lounge, Disney California Adventure Park When this guest took his girlfriend to the Disneyland Resort for the first time, he decided to propose to her in front of the wishing well at Snow White Grotto. He even presented the engagement ring in a glass slipper! Later that night, the couple celebrated their engagement in a private dining room at Carthay Circle Restaurant, where the cast members had “his & hers†ear hats waiting for them. The bride-to-be was in tears, and so were the cast members at Carthay Circle Restaurant! Blue Bayou Restaurant, Disneyland Park Cast members at Blue Bayou Restaurant were able to make a sweet moment even sweeter for one newly engaged couple. After the groom-to-be proposed (to applause from the entire restaurant), Blue Bayou Restaurant cast members presented the couple with special treats and sparkling cider flutes to celebrate. Napa Rose, Disney’s Grand Californian Resort & Spa The Napa Rose team was very excited to help with this unique proposal! One prince charming created a View-Master-like disc for his girlfriend, with slides showing moments throughout their relationship, ending with a very important question on the last slide: “Will you marry me?†Cast member, Wendy, delivered chocolate truffles to celebrate the moment. Other guests even joined in the celebration … the couple sitting next to the newly engaged guests was so touched by the surprising event, they paid for the couple’s dinner. Where would you pop the question at the Disneyland Resort? Do you have a Disneyland Resort proposal story of your own? Share with us below! And happy Valentine’s Day! ‘I Do!’ Memorable Proposals at the Disneyland Resort by Erin Glover: Originally posted on the Disney Parks Blog View the full article

Popular Alfresco Tasting Terrace on the second floor of Golden Vine Winery at Disney California Adventure park features a very cool wine list, new wine flights and small Mediterranean-inspired plates – a lovely spot for a sip of wine on the open-air veranda. Chef Jorge Cruz has been at Golden Vine Winery less than a year, and after stints at Club 33 and Steakhouse 55 at the Disneyland Resort, he’s having fun with the menu at Golden Vine Winery. His small plates on the terrace are getting high marks from fans, like the Tenderloin Sliders (recipe below) which is on the Alfresco Tasting Terrace daily menu. At 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. on February 21-22, Alfresco Tasting Terrace will premiere its Winemaker Events with Fess Parker Winery & Vineyard, one of the “Disney Family of Wines,†a diverse collection that displays qualities long identified with Walt Disney and The Walt Disney Company, carrying on the Disney legacy and typifying the passion, innovation and quality that the name Disney symbolizes. The Fess Parker Winery & Vineyard Winemaker Event will feature wine, a special event appetizer menu and fun stories about the Disney family connection to the winery. For instance, Fess Parker (1924-2010) was named a Disney Legend in 1991 and was honored with his own window in Frontierland at Disneyland. Walt discovered Fess in the movie “Them†and asked him to stop by the studio; Fess brought his guitar, met Walt, sang a song, and said goodbye. Walt cast him as Davy Crockett, and he went on to star in many other Disney productions – but will always be remembered for his coonskin cap. Seating is limited. For reservations and pricing, visit the podium at Golden Vine Winery or call 714-817-5700. Guests must be at least 21 years of age to consume alcoholic beverages. Valid photo ID required. Appearances, presentations and events are subject to change or cancellation without notice. Other restrictions may apply. The Alfresco Tasting Terrace daily menu features Mediterranean-inspired appetizers and wines from the “Disney Family of Wines†— consisting of eight California vintners chosen because of their personal relationship with the Disney name. The “family of eight†includes Chappellet Winery, Fess Parker Winery & Vineyard, Frank Family Vineyards, Gogi, Lasseter Family Winery, MacMurray Ranch, Silverado Vineyards and Skywalker Vineyards. These wines can be sipped with favorite appetizers, like the one below. I recently shared with you photos of the hidden pull-down bed that will be found in the accommodations at the newest Disney Vacation Club Resort, Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows, which is currently under construction. This nifty pull-down bed feature, along with the pullout couch, means the Deluxe Studio rooms at this resort will comfortably sleep up to five guests. And I stress the word “comfortably†here because, once completed, these 360 Deluxe Studios will be the largest at Walt Disney World Resort. Model rooms shown. Floor plans and furnishings subject to change. The rooms are designed to be flexible, allowing for lounging during the day – indoors and out on your private balcony or patio – and cozy sleeping at night (or during that mid-day naptime, which is always a must in my book). Adding to the “comfy†factor of these accommodations are the convenient storage options. In addition to serving up plenty of closet space, guests will be delighted to find that the coffee table opens to reveal storage inside and the bed is designed to accommodate luggage underneath (fun surprise: you’ll even find a storage drawer tucked under there as well). Of course it wouldn’t be a Disney resort without all those playful design touches that truly make you feel as if you’re vacationing in a Polynesian paradise. Plus, these Deluxe Studio villas will offer a really great feature that will allow families tons of comfort while they’re getting ready to hit the theme parks, or the resort’s soon-to-be-completed revamped feature pool, each morning. But I’ll save that reveal for my next post. Stay tuned for more details and photos from Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows! You’re in the Happiest Place on Earth — Disneyland!! And you’re ready to kick off a fun-filled day of park touring, thrills, and lots of character interaction. These are the streets that Walt himself walked, the Park that started them all! But how do you ensure that your day gets off to a great start? By kicking it off with the most important meal of the day! There are tons of iconic snacks and delicious meals that we love to enjoy every time we visit Disneyland. But there are also some terrific breakfast options, too. Today, we’ll take a closer look at some of our favorites. Steakhouse 55If it’s a leisurely, sit-down breakfast you’re looking forward to, you can’t go wrong with Steakhouse 55. Located in Disneyland Hotel, this restaurant has been around nearly as long as the Park itself. It offers a quiet and elegant way to start off a day of Disney fun. Steakhouse 55 in Disneyland Hotel — A Quiet Way to Start Your Day Sometimes, I really love the option to fill up on a big breakfast, and then snack or eat lightly through the rest of the day. And there’s a no more luxurious morning splurge than a beautifully cooked plate of New York Steak and Eggs! New York Steak and Eggs You can also customize your breakfast a bit and Build Your Own Omelette. Choose three from a list of fillings to make your breakfast totally unique. Choose to Build Your Own Omelette Add some of those delicious Roasted Potatoes, and you’ll be fueled up for hours of Disney fun. River Belle TerraceOther times, my first priority is to get into the Parks super early, and then find a bite to eat. After all, there’s something truly magical about being one the of the first people in! When I’m more interested in touring than spending precious time waiting for my order to arrive, I head to River Belle Terrace. And actually, there are two reasons that this is one of my favorite Disneyland breakfast spots. First off, the patio area offers gorgeous views of the Rivers of America. For me, this is such a serene way to start my day. View from River Belle Terrace Although it’s a counter service spot, this isn’t food that you eat on the go. Comforting options like Biscuits and Gravy demand that you stop long enough to enjoy your meal. Of course, you can’t enjoy breakfast here without at least one Mickey Pancake! Enjoying one while watching for the Mark Twain Riverboat to paddle by is Disney Bucket List stuff! Mickey Pancake But don’t pass up the chance to try the Cinnamon Roll French Toast. As if the over-the-top, Cinnamon-Roll-morphs-into-French-Toast isn’t enough, there are also Scrambled Eggs and your choice of Bacon or Sausage! Cinnamon Roll French Toast It’s truly a spectacular way to kick off your day. Seriously. You won’t eat again until next Tuesday. Carnation CafeAnother Disneyland spot that celebrates the history of the Park as well as offering delicious food is Carnation Cafe. While this iconic spot recently added indoor seating, it’s still the charming patio area that we prefer. Carnation Cafe’s Patio And don’t forget to look for Chef Oscar! While he’s no longer in the kitchen, this Disney legend is still on hand to greet guests many mornings. Carnation Cafe’s Chef Oscar While Carnation Cafe no longer offers some of my favorite breakfast options from years past (a moment of silence for the cinnamon french toast here), I found a new favorite when I tried the Apple Granola Pancakes. Apple Granola Pancakes Served with a side of Bacon or Chicken-Apple Sausage Links, you really can’t go wrong. Flo’s V-8 CafeWhat’s that? This is vacation and you want to try something that you can’t get just anywhere? Then you, my friend, should head over to Flo’s V-8 Cafe. While we’ve talked a lot about history up to this point, you’ll get something equally awesome at Flo’s. Located right in the heart of Disney California Adventure’s Cars Land, the themeing here is so immersive, you may wonder if you’ve become animated yourself. Flo’s V-8 Cafe Because the setting of Flo’s is the American Southwest diner, you can expect comfort food with a little regional twist here and there. If you’re looking for something off the beaten path, give the Chicken Tamale Breakfast a try. Chicken Tamale Breakfast Looking for a sweet start to your day? I can totally vouch for the deliciousness of the Brioche French Toast! Served with Salted Caramel Sauce and Bananas it’s a terrific morning jolt of sugar. Brioche French Toast with Salted Caramel Sauce and Bananas You’ll definitely feel like facing the Mother Road after this! Goofy’s KitchenBut we haven’t forgotten about the characters. After all, what’s a trip to Disneyland without a chance to check in with some of its cuddliest residents? While there aren’t as many character dining breakfast options at Disneyland as you’ll find in Walt Disney World, there are a couple of great ones. And we really enjoy Goofy’s Kitchen at Disneyland Hotel for breakfast the most. The Entrance to Goofy’s Kitchen It may not boost a monorail running above like Chef Mickey’s, but will find outdoor dining! Aladdin and Jasmine at Goofy’s Kitchen But one of the biggest reasons we recommend Goofy’s Kitchen is the good to great quality of the food. You’ll get better food here than you will at many other character meals. The breakfast buffet offers five different stations to choose from. Highlights include a Make Your Own Omelette Station…but don’t forget to try Goofy’s specialty — Peanut Butter and Jelly Pizza! Peanut Butter and Jelly Pizza Bonus: Beignets! But for me personally, no trip to Disney is complete without at least one breakfast made entirely of Beignets! And even in that, there are options. Ralph Brennan’s Jazz Kitchen Express offers authentic Beignets that transport us straight to New Orleans. Beignets from Ralph Brennan’s Jazz Kitchen Express Less authentic, but no less delicious are the Mickey Shaped Beignets that are a specialty in Disneyland. I love to get them at the Mint Julep Bar, where they come in a bag, covered in powdered sugary goodness. (to clarify, the beignets are covered in powdered sugary goodness. not the bag.) Regular Mickey Beignets at Disneyland’s Mint Julep Bar But they also make a fine dessert and come with dipping sauces (if you’re having breakfast after lunch ) at Cafe Orleans. Mickey Beignets with Sauces Whose ready for some breakfast?? Whether you’re looking for a leisurely, elegant brunch, a high energy character experience, or a healthy dose of history or themeing, you have a ton of ridiculously awesome ways to start your day in Disneyland. Now let’s here from you — what’s your favorite Disneyland Breakfast Spot? Leave a comment and tell us all about it! Nothing says “I love you!” like a giant pile of frosting. And some of our favorite spots throughout Disney World are featuring extra special love-themed desserts this weekend. Cupcake lovers have lots of options. We think the Chocolate Raspberry Cupcake at Magic Kingdom’s Main Street Bakery should top the list. After all, what goes better with your favorite Starbucks beverage than a big chocolatey cupcake?? Chocolate Raspberry Cupcake at Magic Kingdom’s Main Street Bakery But the Raspberry Panna Cotta Cupcake from BoardWalk Bakery also has us intrigued. It’s like two desserts in one, and reminds me a bit of the Master’s Cupcake at Be Our Guest Restaurant, which features Grey Stuff — Cookies and Cream Panna Cotta. Raspberry Panna Cotta Cupcake from BoardWalk Bakery If you like to have your cupcakes and eat them too (plus you’d like a couple other things), then head to the Beach Club Marketplace for the Sweetheart Dessert. It includes Cupcakes, Chocolate Covered Strawberries, and Chocolate Truffles. Best of all — there’s two of everything, so no sharing required. Sweetheart Dessert from Beach Club Marketplace If we had a vote right now for Disney’s cutest couple, I’m pretty sure that Lady and the Tramp would probably score in the top 3. So it’s fitting that they’re the face of amore on a cupcake at Disney’s Hollywood Studios right now. Lady and the Tramp Cupcake We had a chance to try this one for ourselves the other day, and it’s pretty adorable. Featuring Red Velvet Cake and whipped Chocolate Ganache Frosting, it’s also delicious. You’ll find it at The Trolley Car Café, Starring Rolls Cafe, ABC Commissary, Pizza Planet, Backlot Express, Studio Catering Co., Rosie’s All American Café, and Fairfax Fare. Lady and the Tramp Cupcake — Inside However, I personally want to drive to Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge right now for some of these Sweethearts-Shaped Cheesecakes at The Mara. Geez — like, super, super cute! I met the pastry chef at AKL a while back and she’s clearly at it again with this awesomeness. (They also have “fondue for two” at the Mara for V-day. Cheese or chocolate? Who cares!) Heart Shaped Cheesecakes from The Mara at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge But leave it to Sleepy Hollow Refreshments in Magic Kingdom to bring love in the shape of a Waffle. After all, with their ah-mazing Waffle Sandwiches, they know what they’re doing. This time, it’s a Red Velvet Waffle Sundae. But plan ahead — this one’s only available after 5PM each day. And it clearly needs mas icing, so be prepared. Waffle from Sleepy Hollow Refreshments in Magic Kingdom And there’s so much more! Valentine’s has come to nearly every corner of Walt Disney World, so be sure to ask for special Valentine’s Day treats whereever you find yourself dining now through the holiday weekend! Who’s up for a Valentine’s Day Treat Crawl?!? Which of these Valentine’s Day treats are you loving the most? Leave a comment and tell us which one has you seeing red (in a good way) today! So, I’ve got some serious Disney Popcorn for you today. And I. Mean. Serious. Like, so serious that if you don’t have any room left on your Disney World snack list for your next trip, you have to bump something else. We’ve heard for years about all of the awesome Flavored Popcorns that guests enjoy at the Parks of Tokyo Disneyland. (Dining in Disneyland columnist Heather Sievers got to try many and shared them with us in this recent post.) And of course, we’ve seen a little dabbling in the Flavored Popcorn genre in Disneyland, with the intro of fun flavors at Sally’s Cozy Cone Motel. Gourmet Flavored Popcorn Options at Epcot! But at Walt Disney World, we’ve been kind of stuck with the Butter Flavored or Caramel. There are pre-packaged flavors and some fun movie popcorn options. But as for fresh, flavored popcorn? Pretty much nada. But not anymore! Gourmet Flavored Popcorn at EpcotThere it is! Looks like just another Disney Popcorn cart, right? This one is right outside Journey into Imagination in Epcot. And it’s the ONLY one that we know of that furnishes these beautiful little snacks. Gourmet Popcorn Cart in Epcot And there’s that fresh Disney Popcorn… Popcorn Cart From the Side But then, you spy this — flavors!!!!! (And colors too!) Epcot Flavored Popcorn Cart The menu tells all — you have your choice of popcorn here. You can go with the Gourmet Flavors, or you can stick with the plain Disney Popcorn. Both options are also available in a Souvenir Bucket too, of course. Gourmet Popcorn Cart Menu — Click to Enlarge This was too good to pass up — so of course, I had to try all three! The savory flavor choices include Cheddar Cheese, Buffalo Bleu Cheese, and Sour Cream and Chive. All Three Varieties You know I automatically gravitate toward any food that involves Buffalo — since I’m FROM there and I pretty much eat a gallon of Buffalo Wing sauce per week. (Whatever, don’t judge. There are no calories in that stuff.) The Buffalo Bleu Cheese Popcorn was the most striking visually, and the flavor profile was complex — spicy and vinegary, with a rich bleu cheese undertone. It was deeeeeelicious! Buffalo Bleu Cheese Popcorn The Cheddar Cheese Popcorn was incredible — better than any cheese popcorn you get in those weird tins at Christmas time. FULL of flavor! Cheddar Cheese Popcorn But THEN you get to the creamy, mildly onion-y flavor of the Sour Cream and Chive Popcorn. Blammo! It was off the charts. Sour Cream and Chive Popcorn Oddly, I liked each one better than the previous…and then when I tried them all again in a different order, I felt the same. I’m not sure how to even put this, but the flavors were so concentrated that the popcorn was literally weighty with flavor. But the BEST part? MIXING THEM!!! If you go get these popcornz — and you MUST GET THESE POPCORNZ — I need you to combine the sour cream and chive with the buffalo…and then combine the cheddar cheese with the sour cream and chive — and then the buffalo with the cheddar cheese…and on and on and on! This is one of those treats that I would never think to try if I didn’t write this blog. After all — flavored popcorn is always sort of meh, right? Not this stuffs. One of the most adorable stars of Tokyo Disney Sea is this cute little tiger named Chandu. Chandu with Bananas: In this scene of the attraction, the room is filled with the aroma of bananas, yum! He plays Sinbad’s sidekick in Sinbad’s Storybook Voyage, which I fell in love with upon taking my first ride through. Chandu is so popular in fact that he has his own park merchandise and a snack called a Chandu Tail that is made fresh daily in his honor. The Chandu Tail is served at a small counter service spot called Sultan’s Oasis in the Arabian Coast area of Tokyo Disney Sea. It’s packaged to look like the “tail” is coming from Chandu’s body. Chandu Tiger Tail Packaging The description of this item is “Chicken Cream Bun.” Which really, upon hearing, I wasn’t super on board with eating it. I’m so glad that I went for it though. It’s delicious, and in true Japanese fashion, it’s also super cute! Chandu Tiger Tail The bun itself is very similar in texture to a bao type steamed bun. It’s shaped like a tiger tail (or a backwards question mark if you will) and has stripes to match. The bun is stuffed with something I’d describe as a mixture of thick chicken corn chowder & chicken pot pie filling. It’s very flavorful and I really liked the unique texture combination of the bun and filling. Chandu Tiger Tail Filling If you are in Tokyo Disney Sea, I’d say that this is a must try snack! It’s so unique and unlike anything we have here in the states. I really love how the Tokyo Disney Resort goes above and beyond with themeing. The packaging is just too cute. I almost saved it, but decided it was best just to purchase the keychain version of this snack instead! Look at it, plastic packaging and all… Chandu Tiger Tail Keychain Just for fun, I wanted to include a few photos of Sinbad’s Storybook Voyage. It’s really a great attraction and the building it resides in is gorgeous. Sinbad’s Storybook Voyage Similar in style to It’s a Small World, guests board a boat and are taken along on Sinbad’s voyage of adventures. The music is great and the scenery is spectacular. Scenes from Sinbad’s Storybook Voyage I had never even heard of this attraction until seeing it in person. So in love with its adorableness. Would you or have you ever tried a Chandu Tiger Tail? I say, if you have the chance, go for it! And while you’re there, take a few spins on Sinbad’s Storybook Adventure. I promise, you won’t regret it.
