  6. We’re having a blast reporting to you LIVE from the 2014 Epcot Food and Wine Festival! Welcome to the Epcot Food and Wine Festival! It’s super hot, sweaty, humid, rainy, (insert crappy weather term here) at the Fest so far this year, but that would never stop us from #EatingAllTheFood at every one of the Marketplace Booths at this year’s festival. New Food and Wine Festival Passports Today, I just wanted to remind you and yours (who I know are planning a Festival visit or eight this year) that we’ve got photos of EVERY food menu item (and most of the bevvies as well…except for the $32 Dom flute…I’m totally not buying that) and ALL menus/pricing at the Festival. Pics and prices are all up on our booth pages, which you can find here! 2014 Farm Fresh Marketplace Booth Menu – Click for larger image Now, we shared with you on Friday our must-eat favorites from the Festival so far, but mentioned that we had about 17 new menu items that we really loved this year and had to narrow down for the post. New Brazil Marketplace At the request of several readers, here are a few more of our “you. must. eat. this.” choices at the 2014 Epcot Food and Wine Festival… Pao de Queijo — Brazil This cheese bread is simple and delicious. Imagine a savory bun…filled with sharp cheese…an you’re there. If you get a good batch, it should be soft, moist, and veeeeeery cheesy! Brazilian Cheese Bread Cheese Bread Cross Section Mango Green Tea with Popping Bubbles — China What we loved about this was that the “bubbles” weren’t chewy tapioca — they were little bursts of strong mango flavor/juice! Mango green tea with popping bubbles Crème brûlée caramel fleur de sel — France A new twist on an old classic, the milk chocolate creme brulee has switched up to a salted caramel version. Very rich. Big portion. What’s not to love? Creme Brulee Caramel Fleur de Sel Vegetarian moussaka — Greece A surprising favorite among our staffers this year was this veggie dish. The flavor is fantastic if you’re a moussaka fan. Vegetarian Moussaka Vegetarian Moussaka Inside Carne guisada con arroz blanco — Puerto Rico This is what we expected to find when we heard the Puerto Rico booth was returning. In the past, this booth had been one of the most flavorful in the Showcase; and you won’t be disappointed this year, either. Wonderful spiciness in this dish. Carne Guisada con Arroz Blanco We’ll be sharing more from the Festival with you over the coming days, so stay tuned! 14. “An enchanting resort complete with Disney character experiences and a touch of local culture in everything …” That’s what reviewers at Fodor’s Travel, one of the largest and most respected publishers of travel and tourism information, are saying about Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa, which is being recognized as a 2014 Fodor’s 100 Hotel Award winner, and one of the top 12 “Beach Getaway” hotels worldwide. Aulani was the only resort in all of Hawai‘i to be included in this distinguished category. Fodor’s evaluated more than 5,000 properties around the globe, so cracking the top 100 – and being called out as one of the world’s greatest beach resorts – is a wonderful achievement. 17. While visiting Cars Land at Disney California Adventure, fuel up at Flo’s V8 Cafe. It’s one of our favorite spots for atmosphere dining in Disneyland Resort. Popular dishes in the past have included the Veggie Tater Bake, Rotisserie Chicken, and Homemade Pies. Veggie Tater Bake Now, new dishes have joined the race for first place! Replacing the pork loin, Flo’s has introduced barbecued pork ribs, with house-made Coca-Cola barbecue sauce served with creamy mashed potatoes (or a side of mac and cheese) and a side of crisp slaw. Barbecued Pork Ribs Also in the running — a shaved roast beef and cheddar sandwich on a garlic-chive bun topped with sweet, caramelized onions, and kicky horseradish aioli with a side of slaw. Roast Beef and Cheddar Sandwich Or perhaps you’d like to try the turkey dip on a potato grinder roll. It’s served with provolone cheese and turkey au jus for dipping, plus a side of pasta salad. Turkey Dip The Citrus Turkey Salad is now made with lettuce, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers and Craisins accompanied by a citrus-tarragon dressing. Citrus Turkey Salad It’s always a memorable finish with a delicious pie for dessert. Now, coconut cream joins other favorites — like chocolate mud pie and strawberry-rhubarb. Chocolate Mud Pie Now on tap, Grand Am Beer. It revs up the bar along with Racer 5 Pale Ale IPA. Side dish substitutions are allowed, although chips are no longer on the menu. 20. I recently shared a look at how guests can use retail MagicBands and accessories to show their Disney Side when visiting Walt Disney World Resort. Today, I have additional details about a new option for retail MagicBands called “Link-It Later,” and a look at some of the newest MagicBandits coming soon to select merchandise locations in Florida. We offer retail MagicBands for purchase as an option for guests who may not be staying at a Walt Disney World Resort owned and operated hotel but want to take advantage of some cool technology during their visit. Typically, guests must present one of the following for retail MagicBands to be linked at the time of purchase: valid theme park admission, Memory Maker card or an active MagicBand. With the “Link-It Later” option, guests will be able to purchase solid-colored MagicBands (available in seven colors) and link them to a valid theme park admission at a future date. This new option lets guests purchase MagicBands as gifts. The graphic MagicBands, like the Haunted Mansion-themed one or the MagicBands featuring characters from Disney’s “Frozen,” can’t be linked later at this time. “Link-It Later” is currently available in select retail locations at Walt Disney World Resort. It was recently expanded to participating off-site locations including Hotel Plaza Boulevard hotels in the Downtown Disney area, Disney liquidation stores in Florida, and the Disney merchandise shops at the Orlando International Airport. Guests may visit their My Disney Experience account to associate MagicBands, using the “Link a MagicBand or Card” link. I also convinced the retail MagicBand development team to give you a sneak preview of new MagicBandits coming soon. These small characters or icons can be attached to the side of any MagicBand. I particularly like the retro “world” logo seen in the first image above. I also heard they are working on some MagicBandits featuring famous ghosts that like to follow guests home. 21. Here’s your first look at some of the delectable and delightfully wicked treats debuting this year as part of Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort. There’s nothing “corny” about this year’s candy corn apple, which has been covered in caramel, enrobed in dark chocolate and adorned with candy corn pieces. The delectable Bat Cake Pop is available in chocolate, vanilla or red velvet and is covered in dark chocolate and then adorned with black licorice wings and red chocolate eyes. Be sure to tell your Mummy about this next one! The traditional Mickey Mouse crispy treat has been laced in white chocolate, creating a mummy effect, complete with candy-coated chocolate eyes peering from underneath the bandages. Make delicious magic with the Pumpkin Marshmallow Wand — stacked jack o’ lantern faces made with fluffy marshmallows, creamy caramel, white chocolate and orange sanding sugar. Guys and ghouls will need to make “time” for the Haunted Mansion Clock Crispy, dipped in dark chocolate and decorated with green and white vanilla-flavored chocolate, creating the classic image of the Haunted Mansion clock. Look for these items and more, including the October gourmet apple of the month “Dirt and Worms” at Candy Palace on Main Street, U.S.A. at Disneyland park; Trolley Treats in Disney California Adventure Park; and Marceline’s Confectionery in the Downtown Disney District. 23. I recently shared an announcement about the new alliance with PANDORA Jewelry at Disney Parks. This fall, guests will find an original collection of hand-finished .925 sterling silver and 14K gold charms inspired by some of Disney’s most beloved characters. Today, I’m excited to tell you about some of the 16 items created specifically for Disney Parks. For starters, the essential must-have item for a PANDORA Jewelry collection is a charm bracelet. We are thrilled to release a sterling silver Disney Parks bracelet, featuring PANDORA’s unique threading system and a ball clasp engraved with our castle logo. To personalize the bracelet, we will release several destination themed charms, including some for Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resorts (pictured above). The new sterling silver charms are hand-finished with flush-set cubic zirconia star detail. We will also release the “Mickey Mania” (pictured above), a sterling silver openwork Mickey charm with red, light yellow, black and white enamel. I particularly like the Minnie Sparkling Ear Hat dangle (pictured above), which is a nod to a must have souvenir from Disney Parks. The charm is beautifully crafted in sterling silver with 105 pave-set black crystals and nine pave-set, red-cubic zirconia in the bow detail. The 16 Disney Parks specific items will only be found in select locations at Disney Parks. An additional 25 Disney-themed designs will also be launching in select retail locations at Disney Parks and at PANDORA stores throughout North America. Select items will also be found on the Disney Parks online store at a future date. Stay tuned in the coming weeks for additional looks at this exciting new collection. 24. It’s finally here! We are reporting to you LIVE from the 2014 Epcot Food and Wine Festival! We’ve been busy for the last couple of days gathering information and pricing for you for every one of the Marketplace Booths at this year’s festival. We’ve also had the pleasure of Eating and Drinking Our Way Around the World! For pictures of every dish at this year’s festival, be sure to click over to our Marketplace Booth Page. Click through the links to see all of the pictures of your favorite dishes, plus plenty of new items to try! It’s shaping up to be one of the most delicious Epcot Food and Wine Festivals ever! But after a day of tasting (and tasting, and tasting), we’ve definitely come up with some favorites. Let’s take a look at our top dishes from around the World Showcase this year… Nueske’s® Pepper Bacon Hash with Sweet Corn, Potatoes, Hollandaise and Pickled Jalapeño At Farm FreshAs soon as you get anywhere near the Farm Fresh booth, you can smell it. Nueske’s® Pepper Bacon Hash with Sweet Corn, Potatoes, Hollandaise and Pickled Jalapeño – a strong, smokey smell of bacon laced with the sweet-spicy onions and jalapeños. We’ve been hearing about this fun take on “breakfast for dinner” for a while now, but we were blown away by the execution of it. The dish has everything — super flavorful Bacon, Potatoes cooked perfectly (soft and fluffy in the middle and crispy on the edges), and velvety Hollandaise that stands in for the Egg in the dish, not to mention the sweet corn and spicy peppers. Bacon Hash Just so you know, I have to eat so much during the festival that I never fully finish any of the dishes. This one? This one I finished completely and wished it made sense for me to order MORE! If you only try one dish this year, I think this should be the one. Fresh Baked Carrot Cake with Craisins® and Cream Cheese Icing at Hops & BarleyWe hadn’t been wowed by the Fresh Baked Carrot Cake with Craisins® and Cream Cheese Icing when we’ve tried it at recent preview events. It was good and all, but nothing to write home about. But the version of the dish that we tried today at the Hops & Barley Booth was a show-stopper. And no, I’m not even exaggerating a teeny bit. The Cake itself is incredibly dense and moist, full of Carrot, Pineapple, and Craisins. It’s served very warm, with a topping of decadent Cream Cheese Icing that’s ladled over it — also warm. Fresh baked carrot cake with Craisins® and cream cheese icing Cross section of carrot cake with cream cheese icing Just when I didn’t think I could love Carrot Cake more than I already do — they pull this trick out of their hat! The pictures just don’t do it justice. Tostones: Fried Green Plantains with Mayo Ketchup at the Puerto Rico MarketplaceThe new area that’s devoted to Puerto Rico is very cool. But even more, the food here is great across the board! While we enjoyed all of the dishes, the simple Tostones, or Fried Green Plantains with Mayo Ketchup, was one of my favorites. Tostones: Fried Green Plantains with Mayo Ketchup This is a great example of simple, traditional food being done well. And Mayo Ketchup — why hasn’t anyone told me about this stuff before?! While the tostones were good on their own, the dipping sauce brought them to “I’d definitely buy them again and again” status. Seared Sea Scallop with Spinach-Cheddar Gratin and Crispy Bacon at the Scotland MarketplaceSo, you guys aren’t new here. One thing you know about me: I am not much of a seafood lover. Unless you serve that seafood with Bacon and a Spinach Cheddar Gratin. And then I’m all in. I wasn’t super excited about the Sea Scallop with Spinach Cheddar Gratin and Crispy Bacon, one of the Scotland Booth’s three new dishes. But my first bite made me a believer (and then, of course, I had to take a few more bites just to be sure). Sea Scallop with Spinach Cheddar Gratin and Crispy Bacon The seared scallop was fine, but the real key to this dish is that crispy bacon on top and the give-me-the-recipe-please spinach gratin. Holy wow. Cocadas: Brazilian Coconut Candy at the Brazil MarketplaceThe Brazil Booth offers some awesome options this year, but one we’d really been looking forward to was the Cocadas — or Brazilian Coconut Candy. Having never tried it (or even seen it) I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. But the dense richness of the treat made up for the boring appearance. Coconut Candy Remember haystacks from when you were a kid? The super-sweet coconut candy mountains that are AWESOME? Yeah — it’s like that that. Only 100 times better. Coconut Candy – Dig in! And it’s HUGE! It makes sharing totally plausible. Tartelette aux Escargots: Escargot Tart with Garlic, Spinach, Bacon, and Parmesan at the France MarketplaceI gotta tell you…I was a little concerned when I heard that the France Marketplace was changing up one of its signature dishes. This year, Escargots are featured in a tart, rather than in little mini-brioche. But fans of the previous iteration have nothing to fear, because the new Tartelette aux Escargots — or Escargot Tart with Garlic, Spinach, Bacon and Parmesan –  is pretty fantastic. Tartelette aux Escargots: Escargot Tart with Garlic, Spinach, Bacon and Parmesan A neutral tart crust is filled with parmesan-spiked spinach and snails, then topped with BACON (are we seeing a theme here?). A fun twist on an old classic. Cross section of Tartelette aux escargots: Escargot Tart with Garlic, Spinach, Bacon and Parmesan Shrimp Taco at the Mexico MarketplaceThe Mexico Marketplace rarely disappoints, and this year they’ve re-vamped a guest favorite to make it even better. The Fried shrimp, pickled habanero pepper, and onions on a flour tortilla is simple, but delicious. What really made this a winner was the light-as-air breading on the shrimp and the absolute freshness of the whole dish. Shrimp taco: Fried shrimp, pickled habanero pepper and onions Paired with the generously-sized Sangria at the booth it makes a great snack to be sure. Sangria at the Mexico Booth Sauerkraut Pierogi with Pork Goulash at the Poland MarketplaceWe weren’t prepared to like the Sauerkraut Pierogi with Pork Goulash at the Poland Marketplace nearly as much as we did, but it’s like a sleeper hit! The Pierogis get an interesting twist from what we’re used to seeing — a filling of potato. Here, they’re stuffed with a mild Sauerkraut instead. Sauerkraut Pierogi The dumpling is then covered with a thick, rich Goulash, full of tender chunks of stewed Pork. Sauerkraut Pierogi — Inside The contrast of flavors makes this comfort food dish a great addition to the Festival lineup. But there’s so much more…After thinking that last year’s Food and Wine Festival offerings were seriously lacking, I was bowled over by the size, freshness, and flavor of this year’s new dishes. When I was done touring the booths yesterday, I had — no joke — 17 new favorites that I wanted to recommend to you! And don’t forget about all of the OLD favorites that are back this year — Mushroom Filet in Canada, Griddled Cheese in Greece, Dole Whip at the Refreshment Port, and more. The bottom line? You must — MUST — plan for at least a few days at the festival this year to eat everything that’s truly worth eating. This is probably my favorite collection of dishes ever at a Food and Wine Festival. To see the full list — and pictures of EVERYTHING — be sure to click over to our Marketplace Booth page, and then on the links to take you to each booth’s individual page. You can view pictures of every single dish! 25. I was inside the Haunted Mansion at Disneyland park to document the attraction just before it reopened this year for Haunted Mansion Holiday, and I wanted to share my three favorite photos now that Halloween Time has begun at the Disneyland Resort. Next time you ride Haunted Mansion Holiday, keep your eyes peeled for one of my favorite details: a little monkey bride. Here’s a little hint on where to look … it’s near a big pumpkin. In the great ballroom stands the 14th Haunted Mansion Holiday gingerbread house. I thought you would enjoy seeing it up close. Just before you enter the graveyard scene, you will see the back of Pumpkin Mountain with giant snowflakes falling.
