We’re seeing quite a few changes at Disney’s BoardWalk these days. Disney’s BoardWalk Inn Big River Grille just closed permanently a few days ago, and The Cake Bake Shop is under construction with an opening planned for this year. We’re also keeping an eye on construction at the future home of Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs. So with a few food options currently unavailable, the BoardWalk has a new solution! Recently, a new food truck has arrived on the BoardWalk, just past Big River Grille’s old home, near Jellyrolls. Say hello to App’s! It’s interesting to see a food truck set up here — we typically find them in Disney Springs instead. But with two restaurants under construction and one closed, the need for relief food is STRONG. There’s a new food truck! There are two high-top tables set up outside, but there are also plenty of empty outdoor tables and benches in the general area. The truck has a really varied menu with options for a bunch of different tastes. They’ve got a variety of things on the menu When we say varied, we MEAN it! They’ve got everything from empanadas to hot dogs to burgers to chicken wraps. And all their food is 100% fat-free. Menu The prices seem to be a little bit higher than your average Disney World quick service, but they’ve got some unique options on the menu. If you’re interested in checking it out, head on over to the BoardWalk! We’ll keep you updated with any more food news from Disney World, so stay tuned to DFB. Big things are happening at Tokyo Disney Resort! Tokyo Disney Resort We already knew 2024 was going to be a big year for Tokyo Disney with new festivals and ride overlays, but it turns out the whole year is booked with exciting experiences! Tokyo Disney Resort just released its 2024 fiscal event calendar and there is a lot to dissect! Let’s take a look! Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea have a full slate of events scheduled between now and March 2025 and there’s a lot to get into! Keep in mind these dates and titles could be subject to change. Tokyo DisneySea April is gearing up to be a big month at Tokyo Disney. From April 1st through June 30th, 2024, Tokyo DisneySea will be home to its first-ever “Tokyo DisneySea Food & Wine Festival”. The festival will offer guests the opportunity to travel the world through cuisine with “special courses, set meals, and snacks that can be enjoyed on the go as well as delicious beverages for all ages.” The festival will also be inspired by Tokyo DisneySea’s different ports and offer educational opportunities for guests. From April 9th through June 30th, 2024, Tokyo DisneySea will host “Dreaming of Fantasy Springs” in honor of the grand opening of Fantasy Springs later this year (more on that later). The event will consist of a harbor greeting, decorations, merchandise, and special menus. During the same time frame, Tokyo Disney’s other park, Tokyo Disneyland will play host to Disney Pal-Palooza. The first event of this special series turned the park pink earlier this year starting January 10th, and the second event in the series begins April 9th. “This special event series is all about having a blast with your “pals” in the Park in a party-like, “palooza,” environment.” The first event was centered around Minnie while the second will focus on a different character. ©Disney Staying in April, from the 9th through July 31st, 2024, “Celebrating Space Mountain: The Final Ignition!” will take place at Tokyo Disneyland. This iteration of Space Mountain is about to undergo a complete transformation starting at the end of the day on July 31st and eventually reopen in 2027. This celebration will maintain the current version of Space Mountain one last time. ©Disney The main event at Tokyo DisneySea will take place on June 6th, 2024 when the theme park opens Fantasy Springs (see, we told you we’d get to it!). Fantasy Springs is a park expansion “themed to magical springs that lead to a world of Disney fantasy.” The expansion will be comprised of three areas and a new hotel. ©Disney The three Fantasy Springs lands will be Frozen Kingdom, Rapunzel’s Forest, and Peter Pan’s Never Land. Frozen Kingdom is based on Disney’s Frozen and will feature the “beautiful scenery of the kingdom of Arendelle” as well as the Anna and Elsa’s Frozen Journey attraction. Rapunzel’s Forest is centered around Rapunzel’s tower from Tangled and includes Rapunzel’s Lantern Festival, a romantic boat ride attraction. Peter Pan’s Never Land features iconic Peter Pan scenery from Captain Hook’s pirate ship to the famous Skull Rock present in the movie. The land will also feature the Peter Pan’s Never Land Adventure and Tinker Bell’s Busy Buggies attractions. ©Disney Fantasy Springs will also be home to Tokyo DisneySea Fantasy Springs Hotel, “the sixth Disney hotel to open in Japan”. The hotel will have two buildings — the Fantasy Chateau and the Grand Chateau — as well as restaurants and a shop all inside Fantasy Springs. The Happy Ride with Baymax at Tokyo Disneyland ©Disney July 2nd through September 18th, 2024 will see the Summer Program at both Tokyo Disney parks. Tokyo Disneyland will feature the return of the “Baymax’s Mission: Cool Down” along the parade route and guests will also be able to experience “Splash Mountain ‘Get Soaked MAX’,” a special version of the Splash Mountain attraction. Meanwhile, Tokyo Disneyland’s Toontown will be transformed into “Get Soaked’ Toontown.” Cinderella Castle in Tokyo Disneyland Bringing us full circle will be the Halloween and Holiday celebrations. From October 1st through November 7th, 2024, both Tokyo Disney Parks will host “Disney Halloween”, a new Halloween-themed event. From November 8th through December 25th, 2024, the parks will also host the “Disney Christmas” event. January 1st through the 13th, 2025 will then see both parks host a New Year’s Special Event where “Disney friends dressed in colorful New Year’s outfits will greet guests, and merchandise and menu items themed to the New Year will welcome guests and usher them into the new year.” When it comes to Disney Parks news from around the world, we will always keep you updated so be sure to stay tuned here at DFB for all the latest! EPIC news dropped all over the internet. ©Universal | Epic Universe Concept Art Universal finally gave us a closer look at what’s coming to their new Orlando theme park, Epic Universe. We loved everything we saw and now we’re giddy with anticipation. 5 new lands, 3 new attractions, and several restaurants were announced, and there’s so much more to come! So when can we actually experience this amazing new park? Well, we have a little information on that. Epic Universe’s announcements on January 30th took the internet by storm! We weren’t ready for such amazing news that day but we were certainly excited to hear it. ©Universal A dual-tracked rollercoaster, a wet-play area, new merchandise, and five new restaurants were all announced for the heart of the park, Celestial Park. We still have to wait to find out about all the rides for the other four worlds, but Universal teased that they’re going to be nothing but special. It’s amazing how great this new theme park looks, and now we are antsy for it to open. ©Universal Back in 2022, during a quarterly Comcast investors call, Universal shared that it would be ready “certainly in time for summer 2025.” Since we’re nearing the end of January 2024, we really don’t have to wait too much longer, maybe a year or a little more! ©Universal As construction continues, we’ve noticed that they are not taking their sweet time, in fact, they have been moving at a rapid pace. It’s unlikely that we’ll see the park open before 2025, but perhaps the construction will continue going well and we can see it open early that year. We certainly hope that we’ll be able to enjoy our 2025 summer in Epic Universe! ©Universal We’ll be keeping our eyes and ears open for any more details as they’re released. Until then, keep following DFB for more theme park news! 4 Secret Facts REVEALED About Universal’s Epic Universe Join the DFB Newsletter to get all the breaking news right in your inbox! Calling all Figment fans! We just tried a NEW Figment-themed treat in Disney World, and we’re pretty sure you’re gonna want to get one, too! Figment The adorable purple dragon called Figment is a popular Disney World character, and we’ve seen tons of merchandise, a couple of popcorn buckets, a festival food booth, and even a new meet-and-greet inspired by him. Now, there’s a new Figment treat in EPCOT — Come with us to try it out! We arrived in EPCOT bright and early to try out the new Figment of Caramel Cold Brew. This drink can be found at the Joffrey’s Coffee stand located near the front entrance to the park. Joffrey’s Coffee Stand The drink is Joffrey’s Caramel Mudslide Cold Brew, caramel and peanut butter syrups, and chocolate sauce, topped with whipped cream and caramel sauce. Description Honestly, it sounds like Willy Wonka created this drink. And it TASTES like Willy Wonka created it, too! Ready to try it? The drink has a bit of nuttiness to it for sure (from that peanut butter syrup), but the caramel flavor is the most prominent. It is SWEET, y’all! It’s called the “Figment of Caramel,” but that sweet flavor definitely tasted way too strong to be just a figment of our imagination. Whether you’re a frequent traveler or a vacation every-few-years kind of person, you have most likely been to an airport. Orlando Airport Flying is a popular mode of transportation. It can be inexpensive and efficient when everything goes as planned. We have often wondered if there is insider airport lingo between all the associates who work there. Do they have code words or ways to signal secret messages? We don’t know about all the hidden meanings behind the airline lingo, but there is one phrase we recently learned that has our skin crawling — “gate lice.” Gate lice is a term that probably makes you think of all the gross little bugs crawling around in your hair. They swarm your head and they’re awful to try to get rid of. You’re probably squirming in your seat, and your head is itching — sorry! Well, those are real lice. Gate lice can be annoying just like the tiny, white bugs, but they’re humans, not bugs. Orlando International Airport We just learned what the term “gate lice” means, and we gotta say, it’s a pretty accurate term. According to the Washington Post, gate lice are those airline passengers who begin standing in line way before they’re called by the gate attendant. The Post said there are psychological reasons for this — “gate lice” are usually nervous about getting on the flight or just have a tendency to follow the crowd, and start standing WAY before it’s time to even board the plane. Frontier Plane at the Orlando Airport We decided to do a little research of our own, and we found this definition for gate lice on Urban Dictionary.com, “Passenger, often inexperienced flyers in kettle class, who crowd around or lineup at a gate at an airport completely blocking the boarding area and preventing First and Business Class passengers from being able to get on the plane when they’re allowed to. They can also cause delays and confusion if a passenger in a wheelchair needs to board as the chair has to plow through the mass of gate lice hovering around the gate.” Orlando Airport Interestingly, there is more truth to that statement than you might realize. Gate lice can really cause chaos and issues in the boarding process. They block walkways and delay the gate associates trying to check people in during their proper boarding group. Gate lice can cause a lot of stress and annoyance to other passengers and airport workers alike! Spirit Airlines at Orlando Airport Turns out, that this term isn’t new, either. There was an entire article written in The Seattle Times about getting rid of gate lice in 2013!! This has been an issue for far too long! An astrophysicist in the article couldn’t even piece together how to properly board people on a plane because that would require everyone to board in precise order — good luck with that one! Inside Terminal C at MCO Airport Many people may find gate lice practices to be annoying, and that might be a true deduction, but the psychology of boarding a plane (because that’s a thing) supports the habit. People want to have ample time to put their luggage in an overhead bin, or they don’t want to lose their seats — the competition of getting on the plane first drives people to be gate lice. Terminal C People are also susceptible to what’s called “herd mentality.” We conform when we see others doing something around us. So all it takes is for one person to get a little anxious and stand up and then all the other gate lice follow. It’s a vicious cycle of people watching everyone else and copying their actions: conformity a.k.a. herd mentality sets it. A herd of lice…(we’ll see ourselves out). ©Orlando International Airport So now that we all know what “gate lice” are (luckily, they’re not nasty things crawling around the terminals), we can hopefully have a more successful, less stressful flight. Hopefully, no major issues are caused by those of us who like to line up early. For more travel news, keep following DFB! If you love Disney as much as we do, living in Disney World or Disneyland would be a dream come true. Magic Kingdom We would feel like princes and princesses living in our majestic and beautiful castle. Unfortunately, that’s not an option. But living in a Disney community is! Asteria, a Storyliving by Disney community, is planned to be created in North Carolina. The community would be a literal Disney dream to live in. However, Disney might have just hit a snag in their development plans. Two new Storyliving by Disney communities are planned to be available for living in soon. Cotino is the first of the two locations which will have houses for sale in the near future. It’s located near Rancho Mirage, California. The second location that has been announced is Asteria. ©Disney Asteria is planned to be built near Raleigh, NC in Chatham County. It will span over 1,500 acres and boast 4,000 residences. Disney is partnering with DMB Development to plan and build this new community. But now, a local non-profit, The Haw River Assembly is hoping that Disney and DMB Development take environmental impacts into consideration. ©Disney According to The News & Observer, the non-profit is requesting that Disney protect and enhance certain environmental aspects within Chatham County. Some of these environmental considerations include the existing tree canopy, building larger stormwater basins than the current code requires, and working to protect Pittsboro residents (and future Asteria residents) from water pollution. ©Disney Haw River Academy Riverkeeper, Emily Sutton urged Disney by stating, “As you move from concept to development plans for Disney’s Asteria, we urge you to go above and beyond what Chatham Park has codified in their Elements, in order to protect the Haw River and the environment you will be building in.” ©Disney If you’ve been keeping up with the Asteria project, you’ll know that the community looks and sounds amazing! There will be Disney Cast Members working to assist you and cool amenities you may not find in other residential areas. While the Academy isn’t trying to stop Disney from moving forward with their project, they hope to see Disney bring a positive impact to the local environment. ©Disney Hopefully, Disney can find common ground with the non-profit and continue forward with Asteria. We’ll be sure to keep you updated as new information is announced. Until then, keep following DFB for more Disney news! Disney has made a LOT of television and film content over the years, and we mean a LOT. ©Disney And thanks to Disney+, many things have been able to stand the test of time! No need to put that DVD back in the player or wait for a show to pop up on the cable channel when you can just put things on repeat with a streaming service. And now that the 2023 Nielsen ratings are in, we know EXACTLY which Disney movies and shows were most watched last year! First up, we’ve got to talk about the show that has stolen the hearts of MANY Disney fans — Bluey! The series was the second-most streamed show of 2023 overall, only landing behind Suits, according to Variety. ©Disney The 145 episodes of the show were viewed a combined total of 43.9 billion minutes last year. That’s an impressive number! But the list of most-streamed movies is where Disney REALLY succeeded last year. Topping the list is Moana with 11.6 billion minutes streamed, followed by Encanto, The Super Mario Bros. Movie, Elemental, and Minions: The Rise of Gru. Frozen, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and Avatar the Way of Water take spots 7, 8, and 9 on the list. ©Nielsen So if you watched any of those Disney movies last year, you certainly weren’t alone! And if you’re wondering what to get an American child for their birthday, it looks like Moana or Bluey inspired gifts would put you on the right track. ©Disney Stay tuned to DFB for more updates about the latest Disney media news! Cinderella Castle in Magic Kingdom If you’re hoping to attend this year’s “D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event” to learn about upcoming Disney changes, hear shocking announcements, and view exclusive exhibits, you’ll want to mark your calendar and set your alarm! Disney’s “D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event” (previously called the D23 Expo) will take place from August 9th through the 11th, 2024. Tickets for this super-popular event go on sale on March 26th, and we’re expecting those tickets to sell out FAST. ©D23 Disney hasn’t made any announcements about pre-sales yet, but it’s possible that some guests (like D23 Gold Members) will be able to buy those tickets earlier than others. For example, in 2022, we found out about the huge Magic Kingdom expansion that Disney is currently planning. Possible Land Expansion in Magic Kingdom The event takes place from August 9th through the 11th in Anaheim, California. There will be a D23 kickoff celebration at Disneyland Resort the day before (August 8th), and then the event itself will be located at the Anaheim Convention Center. However, in the evening, the marquee shows that are part of this event will take place in the Honda Center, which is an indoor arena. Panel at the 2022 D23 Expo Even if you don’t have plans to visit the event in person, you can still participate this year! Some parts of the D23 event will be streamed on Disney+, including the Disney Legends ceremony, according to Deadline. You may remember that last year, Disney streamed portions of Destination D23 on social media, so this is a change for 2024. Disney also announced that this year’s D23 event will have a new interactive app, as well as musical performances, an amazing shopping experience, and special presentations. Let’s face it: travel isn’t cheap. Room at Disney’s BoardWalk Inn Although you can do your best to find the best rates on everything from hotels to airfare to transportation, sometimes you still end up paying more because of fees you don’t see up front when you book travel. Hotels are notorious for this, which is why one hotel recently got sued by the state of Nebraska. Now, that lawsuit has been settled, which will end these hotel scam charges for good. According to the Omaha World-Herald, the Nebraska Attorney General’s office recently announced that it had reached a settlement with Hilton Hotels after four years over a pricing practice called “drip pricing.” This is basically when hotels gradually add additional mandatory fees to the booking price as you go through the booking process rather than giving the full price upfront. ©Hilton Hilton has agreed to “clearly and conspicuously” show ALL mandatory fees now as part of the total price for any offers or ads for hotel rooms. The hotel chain is also required to show amenities that are covered by mandatory fees, as well as pay $300,000 in attorney fees to the Nebraska Attorney General. ©Hilton via D23 Hilton released a statement saying, “We know consumers prioritize transparency and Hilton has long been supportive of ensuring that mandatory fees charged by hotels in our system are fully disclosed before booking on our websites and all other distribution channels.” This is the fourth such lawsuit from the Nebraska Attorney General’s office with hotels. Previously, Omni, Marriott, and Choice Hotels reached similar settlements with the office. Each company can no longer misrepresent total price for booking rooms nor can it gradually add additional mandatory fees as customers go through the booking process. The Swan and Dolphin are Marriott-owned hotels. This settlement could also encourage other hotels who are engaging in these kind of pricing practices to change their ways, lest they, too, get faced with a lawsuit. This is certainly good news for travelers, especially those who are just looking at hotel prices for budgeting before actually booking rooms. It’s always a good idea to know the full price you’ll pay upfront, right? We’ll keep an eye out for more travel-related news, so stay tuned to DFB for more. When you go to Disney World every day, you learn a few secrets about the theme parks. Magic Kingdom First, you learn which rides to avoid at rope drop (seriously, you’d think it might catch on that certain rides are ALWAYS the ones that EVERYONE runs to at rope drop). We also know where the best — and worst — seats are on rides. We’ve also ranked EVERY single ride in Disney World. Then there are the rides that we love the most — and although we may not rank them high for thrills, they’re the comfort rides we ALWAYS get in line for. So we asked our team to weigh in on the rides we find the MOST comfort on, and honestly, this was almost unanimous. If you need to get away from the chaos — and the heat — in Disney World, these rides will NEVER let you down. Living With The Land Okay, if you’ve been reading DFB for a while, you know we will always say that Living With The Land in EPCOT is one of the MOST UNDERRATED rides in all of Disney World. Maybe a relaxed boat ride through the history and future of agriculture isn’t something you’d necessarily think you’d be interested in, once you’ve been on it, YOU KNOW. Living with the Land First, it’s a relaxing boat ride. Second, it’s indoors — in the air conditioning. Third, there are hardly ever long lines for it (except for maybe around the holidays when it gets its festive overlay). You can just hop on a boat for a nice 15-minute ride and surround yourself with nature. It doesn’t get more comforting than that! We Bet You Didn’t Know This Living With the Land Disney World Fact! PeopleMover Yep, we love the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover in Magic Kingdom, which is designed to…well…it’s designed to move people. Is it exciting? Probably not. Is it futuristic or high-tech? Well, not really. Is it a good way to get off your feet and get some exclusive views INSIDE some Tomorrowland attractions? YES! PeopleMover This 10-minute ride takes you throughout Tomorrowland and through Space Mountain, Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin, and the Star Traders shop. It’s a fun way to see some behind-the-scenes things you can’t see otherwise. Disney World Guests Share Which Rides They Enjoy Getting STUCK On Pirates of the Caribbean Pirates of the Caribbean in Magic Kingdom has it ALL. It’s a relaxing boat ride, but it also has all the thrills and DANGER that you get when hanging out with pirates! You want pirate shenanigans? You’ve got it! You want an all-out battle between pirate ships? Yep, you get that, too! You want to see Captain Jack Sparrow hiding from EVERYONE? BINGO — this ride is just for you! Oh, plus the pirates are SINGING even while their village is going up in flames! Does it get more exciting than this? We think not. There’s a reason this classic Disney attraction has been popular FOREVER. It never gets old. The boat ride is NICE when you’ve been on your feet all day. But you’re also still completely entertained by all the new details you’ll notice each time you ride it. Yo ho, Yo ho, a pirate’s life for me! Most People Get This Disney World Trivia Question Wrong. Did You? Na’vi River Journey Okay, before you roll your eyes at us, Na’vi River Journey in Disney’s Animal Kingdom is still a VERY popular ride in Disney World. It generally has high wait times, but if you can grab a Lightning Lane on Genie+, you should do it EVERY SINGLE TIME. First, this ride is another underrated one. It’s an air-conditioned slow boat journey through Pandora at night and it is SO chill and comforting that you’ll be thanking us. We’re calmer just LOOKING at this photo of Na’vi River Journey You’ll also find one of Disney’s MOST stunning animatronics in the form of the Shaman towards the end of the ride. It’s easy to forget that she’s not a REAL Na’vi because her movements and song are SO fluid and real. The Best And Worst Seats on Each Ride in Disney’s Animal Kingdom Spaceship Earth Okay, we know this ride is one that a LOT of our readers will agree with as a TOP comfort ride. Spaceship Earth at EPCOT isn’t just a classic Disney ride, but it’s also a nice slow-moving ride IN THE DARK while the dulcet tones of Dame Judy Dench tell you all about the history of communication on Earth. Spaceship Earth has us thanking the Phoenicians Yes, we know a LOT of folks nap on this ride, but even if you stay awake, you’ll leave it feeling refreshed, cooler (again, it’s indoors and air-conditioned), and a lot more educated on how communication has evolved throughout history. It’s a win-win, people! 4 Shocking Disney World Changes That Got Swept Under the Rug So the next time you find yourself in Disney World needing to just ESCAPE, be sure to check out these rides because they’ll make you feel like you just got a warm Disney hug. Without a doubt, food has become a MAJOR attraction at the Disneyland Resort! Disneyland Tomorrowland Disneyland’s Tomorrowland is home to several popular attractions, but it also is a solid spot to find some underrated eats! In fact, during a recent visit, we discovered some NEW offerings at the two restaurants inside the land and we just have to tell you about them! We tried a brand-new veggie-based pizza and berry-infused limeade at Disneyland and — spoiler alert — they are definitely worth your attention! Let’s take a look! Artichoke and Pesto Pizza at Aliens Pizza Planet Let’s start with the Artichoke and Pesto Pizza slice at Alien Pizza Planet! This slice costs $8.99 and is made with artichoke hearts, pickled red onions, mixed olives, tomatoes, feta cheese, and mozzarella with Parmesan, served with an Alfredo cream sauce and pesto drizzle. Veggie fans should give it a try! Within the first mouthful, you can taste each ingredient, so if there’s something on this pizza you know you don’t like, you may want to pick it off or avoid the pizza altogether. With that said, we thought this pizza was a solid entry to the Alien Pizza Planet menu. It comes off as a healthier pizza alternative and provides a lot of taste variety to differentiate from the classic cheese and pepperoni. The red onions, artichoke, feta, and pesto really stood out positively, although we would’ve liked maybe a little more tomatoes, olives, and pesto. With that said, there were still enough of those ingredients on our slice that we didn’t complain. The crust was nice and fluffy and, again, we had no complaints. It’s crazy that we wanted MORE of the ingredients with how much is going on with this pizza but that just goes to show that the flavors all worked together. It was almost like eating a fancy pesto pasta in pizza form! Although it’s almost like pesto pasta, we still recommend bypassing a fork! Overall, we still don’t think kiddos will take too well to this veggie pizza. Parents with a more refined palate, on the other hand, will likely prefer this healthier option that is packed with flavor. If you don’t mind paying nearly $9 for a slice of pizza and don’t have the simple taste buds of Walt Disney (who was notoriously anti-vegetable), then we think you should give this pizza a try! Over at Galactic Grill, we found the Blackberry Sky Splash for $6.29. This drink consists of blackberry-infused limeade garnished with a blackberry coulis and cucumbers. This drink has all the makings of a great mocktail and we’re happy to report it was very tasty! Blackberry Sky Splash at Galactic Grill Like most limeades, this blackberry-infused one is pretty tart, but none more so than any other limeade. We found that letting the ice melt a bit cut out the tartness just a tad without compromising the flavor. At its core though, this is a really solid limeade that would be fine on its own, but the garnishes really take this drink from tasty to enjoyably memorable. The garnishes put this drink over the top With every sip you get a healthy whiff of the cucumbers, adding a totally new dimension to this drink. The blackberry also provided the overwhelming sweet flavor of the drink. It smells and tastes like the perfect summer vacation mocktail and the blend of cucumbers, limeade, and fresh blackberry made for an incredibly refreshing and tropical beverage. You can find this beverage in Tomorrowland! So who will like this Blackberry Sky Splash? People who like fruity drinks, cucumber, blackberry, different flavors of limeade, and a drink that resembles a cocktail without alcohol. We also think it could work as an introduction to cucumber in drinks for the kiddos if that’s something they’re averse to. People who are opposed to tart limeades or cucumber should probably avoid it. Overall, we can safely say this is a drink we will get again and we recommend trying it the next time you find yourself in Tomorrowland! You just had the best morning walking down Main Street, U.S.A., riding through the Haunted Mansion, and sailing through the Pirates of the Caribbean. But now your tummy is rumbling, and you need to get something quick to eat. Have no fear! We are here with what you need to get at every quick service restaurant in Magic Kingdom. A great pairing, Magic Kingdom and Food! There is no shortage of food in Magic Kingdom, but that also means you have to decide what to get! We want to help you make sure you get the best food Disney has to offer, so we have compiled a list of our recommendations for the food you need to try. We have tried it all and we believe every meal should be great. So, let’s get going and dig into some quick service food at Magic Kingdom! For this post, we’re looking at quick service restaurants that offer savory eats that could serve as lunch or a hearty snack. We’ve left locations that only serve treats and dessert off this list (such as Aloha Isle, which mostly just serves DOLE Whip), but let us know in the comments if we should do another post about dessert in this park! Quick Service Restaurants When it is time for some food, quick service restaurants are a great option. They do not require reservations and provide a quick and easy way to grab some grub. We highly recommend taking advantage of Mobile Ordering for an even easier meal experience! Click here to learn how to use Mobile Order in Disney World! While most quick service restaurants offer Mobile Order, there are a few that do not. We will make sure to let you know if you can Mobile Order below. Let’s feast into some amazing food! Magic Kingdom boasts a wide variety of options, and we are breaking them down for you and letting you know exactly what to get. Let’s get into our favorites at each of the quick service restaurants. Casey’s Corner You Need to Get: Corn Dog Nuggets and Plastic Cheese We are starting it off with a fan-favorite on Main Street. Casey’s Corner sells baseball-themed fare and offers an amazing view of Cinderella Castle from the tables just outside the restaurant. While this location boasts a good selection of hot dogs, our favorite item on the menu is the Corn Dog Nuggets with a side of cheese sauce! These crispy morsels are a perfect snack to grab in between rides. Crunchy corndog batter and cheesy sauce come together for a delicious snack. Crunchy Corn Dog Nuggets with Cheesy Goodness The corn dog nugget meal (served with fries or a Cutie) costs $10.79 and a side of cheese sauce is $1. You can Mobile Order at Casey’s Corner! Click here for our full review of Casey’s Corner! Columbia Harbour House You Need to Get: Lobster Roll and Hushpuppies Columbia Harbour is a hidden gem in Magic Kingdom. Not only does it have wonderful food, but the restaurant has two stories with lots of indoor seating. It is a great place to grab a meal and relax in the A/C. Our pick for your must-get at Columbia Harbour House is the Lobster Roll and the side of Hushpuppies. The Lobster Roll is a fan-favorite! The lobster is chilled with a mayo-based sauce and served with lettuce on a New England-style bun. The sandwich is light on the mayonnaise which allows the flavor of the lobster to shine. We have always been impressed with the amount of lobster you get too! A fan-favorite: the Lobster Roll Next up, hushpuppies. These little guys are a fantastic snack or side item. They are warm and crispy, with a soft inside. There are whole kernels of corn inside and we just love snacking on these while we people watch from the second floor of the restaurant. These have a hint of sweetness but are not overloaded with sugar. Don’t those hushpuppies look amazing? The lobster roll costs $16.99 (includes one side choice of French fries, green beans or rice) and a side of hushpuppies costs $4.99. You can Mobile Order at Columbia Harbour House! For even more information about Columbia Harbour House, check out our page dedicated to this restaurant! Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe You Need to Get: Triple-B Burger Heading over to Tomorrowland, let’s stop by Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe. While not one of our favorite quick service restaurants in Magic Kingdom, Cosmic Ray’s still has plenty to offer! We recommend the Triple-B Burger. This burger is an Angus beef patty with bacon, cheddar spread, crispy onions, and Coca-Cola® Cherry-barbecue sauce on a brioche bun served with a side of French fries. The sauce did not have much Coca-Cola flavor, but it was tasty and a great combination with the cheddar spread, crispy onions and bacon. The patty is your average theme park burger, but the toppings really make this one stand out! Bacon, cheddar spread, crispy onions AND barbecue sauce?! The burger costs $13.49 (side of fries included). You can Mobile Order at Cosmic Ray’s! Check out our full review of the Triple-B Burger here! Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe You Need to Get: Chicken Rice Bowl and Mini Churros with Chocolate Sauce Continuing our journey, we arrive at Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe in Frontierland. Pecos Bill has quite a few options that are on the healthier side and provide a bit of a departure from your traditional theme park foods. Our favorite food items are the rice bowls and the mini churros. Pecos Bill offers the rice bowl with either chicken or pork carnitas. We prefer the chicken rice bowl, but both are delicious! The rice bowl comes with your choice of meat, rice, black beans, lettuce, tomato, grilled peppers and onions, sour cream, and salsa. You may need to ask for the sour cream and salsa if you would like it as we have not always been given it with our meals. You get a great portion of food, and the chicken is seasoned well. A healthy-ish and filling option! For dessert, you need to get the mini churros with chocolate sauce. These are great for sharing! They’re everything you love about the classic Disney churro but in mini form. We are usually guilty of eating these first as they are always better fresh. Sugary, cinnamony goodness with a warm chocolate sauce for dipping, yum! Sugary fried dough and chocolate sauce, yum! The chicken rice bowl costs $12.49 and the mini churros with chocolate sauce cost $6.79. You can Mobile Order at Pecos Bill! Check out our detailed review of Pecos Bill here! Pinocchio Village Haus You Need to Get: Buffalo Chicken Flatbread and Key Lime Pie Tart Pinocchio Village Haus has a wonderful charm to it, and you can even grab a seat overlooking “it’s a small world”! The restaurant menu offers various flatbreads, Caesar salad, and chicken strips. Our personal favorite is the Buffalo Chicken Flatbread. We love the combination of the slightly spicy buffalo sauce and creamy ranch. The flatbread is thin and crispy with just the right amount of gooey cheese and grilled chicken. A yummy combination of chicken, mozzarella, ranch and buffalo sauce! The Key Lime Pie Tart is served with sweet whipped cream. The crust is buttery and not too thick. The filling is the perfect amount of sweetness, tartness, and lime flavor. ©Disney The Buffalo Chicken Flatbread costs $12.79 and the Key Lime Pie Tart costs $5.49. You can Mobile Order at Pinocchio Village Haus! Read even more about the Buffalo Chicken Flatbread here! Tortuga Tavern You Need to Get: Orange Chicken Strips and Desert Pear Lemonade Pirate Slushy Tortuga Tavern is a seasonal location, so it will not always be open. However, if you happen to be in Magic Kingdom when it is open, we suggest the Orange Chicken Strips and Desert Pear Lemonade Pirate Slushy. The Orange Chicken Strips are your classic chicken tenders dipped in a sweet orange sauce. The sauce has a slight kick to it and just the right amount of orange flavor. Pop in for some grub & grog! We also recommend the Desert Pear Lemonade Pirate Slushy at Tortuga Tavern. We love the pear and lemonade flavor combination. This is reminiscent of the Violet Lemonade found seasonally in EPCOT, but with less floral notes and a bit more sweetness. It is a vibrant pink and wonderfully refreshing! Pink and refreshing! The Orange Chicken Strips cost $11.29 and the slushy costs $6.49. You will need to order with a Cast Member here, as Mobile Order is not available. Keep in mind Tortuga’s Tavern is a seasonal location, but you can check out our latest posts about it here! Quick Service Stands Now that we have covered the quick service full restaurants, we are moving on to the various quick service stands/kiosks in Magic Kingdom. These stands still provide great, quick food options but generally have a bit more limited of a menu. These stands often don’t have designated seating areas, but you can usually find somewhere nearby to enjoy your food. The Friar’s Nook You Need to Get: Creamy Bacon Macaroni & Cheese Tots The Friar’s Nook is a great snack spot with tots and hot dogs. We recommend checking out the Creamy Bacon Macaroni & Cheese Tots. Combining tots with mac & cheese is speaking our language! The tots are served on top of their creamy mac & cheese and then topped with bacon, sour cream, and green onions. Tots AND Mac & Cheese? A match made in heaven! These tots cost $11.49. You can Mobile Order at The Friar’s Nook! Read even more about these tots and the other mac & cheese offerings at Friar’s Nook here! Gaston’s Tavern You Need to Get: Cinnamon Roll and LeFou’s Brew We can’t talk about our favorite food items in Magic Kingdom without talking about Gaston’s Tavern and the famous cinnamon roll! Just in case you need a bit more sugar in your diet, we recommend the huge cinnamon roll from Gaston’s Tavern. It is served warm and topped with sweet icing (we recommend asking for more if you want!). This thing is huge, and we definitely suggest sharing this one. Oh my, my mouth is watering just looking at that cinnamon roll! Another favorite at Gaston’s Tavern is LeFou’s Brew. This is frozen apple juice with a hint of toasted marshmallow and topped with passion fruit-mango foam. This drink is on the sweet side but also super refreshing! The flavors blend together well and make for a unique drink to cool you off. A sweet, refreshing treat! The cinnamon roll costs $6.99 and LeFou’s Brew costs $6.79. You will need to order with a Cast Member here, as Mobile Order isn’t offered! Can’t get enough cinnamon roll? Read even more cinnamon roll goodness here! Golden Oak Outpost You Need to Get: Minute Maid Premium Lemonade and Sweet Tea Slushy Golden Oak Outpost is not always open, and when it is, it hasn’t usually been one of our must-eat spots. However, we found this Minute Maid Premium Lemonade and Sweet Tea Slushy and think it is worth a stop for. While the plain Sweet Tea Slushy is SWEET, the addition of lemonade in this slushy makes it much more balanced. The drink is refreshing, and you can really taste both the lemonade and sweet tea. A great option for a quick rest break during your day! Lemonade and Iced Tea come together in this frozen slushy The slushy costs $5.99 and you will need to order with a Cast Member here! Click here for our full review on Golden Oak Outpost! Sleepy Hollow You Need to Get: Sweet-and-Spicy Chicken-Waffle Sandwich Sleepy Hollow is another hidden gem in Magic Kingdom! They offer a lot of options including corn dogs, funnel cakes, and waffles, but one of our personal favorites is the Sweet-and-Spicy Chicken-Waffle Sandwich. This sandwich is meal-sized and wonderful! A fresh-made waffle is topped with fried chicken dipped in a sweet & spicy sauce and then topped with a creamy slaw. The sauce has a kick to it, but the addition of the slaw helps cool it down a bit. We recommend grabbing this waffle sandwich and enjoying it on the hub grass! Yummy food AND a view! Waffle sandwich with a view! This waffle sandwich costs $11.59. You can Mobile Order at Sleepy Hollow! Find out more about Sleepy Hollow in our full review here! The Lunching Pad You Need to Get: Cream Cheese Warm Stuffed Pretzel If you are in the Tomorrowland area and are looking for a quick snack, look no further! The Cream Cheese Warm Stuffed Pretzel from The Lunching Pad is here to save the day. Here you can grab a warm pretzel that is stuffed with sweet cream cheese. The pretzel itself provides a bit of saltiness to the sweet filling. One of our favorite sweet snacks! Sweet cream cheese inside of a warm pretzel! The cream cheese pretzel costs $7.79 and you can Mobile Order here! If you are a pretzel fan, check out our favorite pretzels in Disney World! There you have it, all of our recommendations for every quick service in Magic Kingdom! We know how much good food there is at Disney World, so we wanted to try to narrow down your choices. Of course, this is not a definitive list nor the only good food items at each location. Be sure to browse the menus and decide what is best for you and your family! NEWS: Another Series Has Been CANCELED by Disney
Disney4me posted a topic in Disney Food/Restaurants
Just when you think you’re starting to get into a new series — BAM! Canceled. ©Disney It’s happening quite a bit lately, especially with Disney shows. We’ve seen series after series canceled on ABC, Disney+, and even Disney Channel, and now, another show is joining that list. Deadline has reported that Secrets of Sulphur Springs has been canceled. The Disney Channel series ran for three seasons, but will not be picked up for a fourth. ©Disney Secrets of Sulphur Springs was created, written, and executive produced by Tracey Thomson and followed 12-year-old Griffin Campbell, played by Preston Oliver, whose world is upended when his father, Ben (Josh Braaten) moves his family in order to take over an abandoned hotel. Griffin soon learns that the hotel is reportedly haunted, and appropriate chaos ensues. ©Disney This is the second Disney Channel series that has been canceled in a month. In December, we reported that Bunk’d would be ending with its seventh season. The shows join a long list of series that have been canceled by Disney over the past year. ©Disney Stay tuned to DFB for the latest news on Disney shows, movies, parks, and more! The drama between the Walt Disney Company and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis continues. Disney World entrance sign The feud goes back to when Disney made statements against Florida’s Rights in Education law (called the “Don’t Say Gay” bill by critics). After that, DeSantis and Florida legislators dissolved Disney’s Reedy Creek Improvement District and replaced it with a new board that has made some controversial changes to the District since its installment. Disney fought back by filing a lawsuit in federal court, claiming that DeSantis’s motives were retaliatory against the company. Well, a federal judge has dismissed that lawsuit. Although Disney claimed in the lawsuit that DeSantis was running a “relentless campaign to weaponize government power” against the Disney Company, DeSantis asked a federal judge to throw out the lawsuit. Bloomberg reports that US District Judge Allen Winsor has granted the Florida Governor’s motion to dismiss Disney’s lawsuit. Reedy Creek This ruling is a big setback for Disney in its ongoing battle with DeSantis. Disney also recently filed a suit against the new Reedy Creek board, now called the Central Florida Tourism Oversight Committee, claiming that the board failed to provide public records requested by Disney in May 2023. Withholding public records goes against both Florida and federal law. ©Central Florida Tourism Oversight Board Meanwhile, Florida state legislators have voted in favor of a bill that would reverse DeSantis’s takeover of the Reedy Creek Improvement District. In the meantime, recent reports have called the new board dysfunctional with a number of employees leaving the district at a rapid pace. After those reports came out, the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District canceled its final meeting of 2023. Disney vs. DeSantis However, a report released by the new board accused Disney of bribery and “egregious corporate cronyism” when it still controlled the district for previous perks offered to employees of the district, like park tickets and discounts. As we said, the situation is ongoing. Cinderella Castle According to NBC, a Disney spokesperson released a statement following the ruling — you can read it below: “This is an important case with serious implications for the rule of law, and it will not end here. If left unchallenged, this would set a dangerous precedent and give license to states to weaponize their official powers to punish the expression of political viewpoints they disagree with. We are determined to press forward with our case.” ©Disney | Walt Disney Company Headquarters With that statement, it sounds like Disney plans to appeal this latest decision, though, and we’ll certainly be keeping an eye on it to keep you updated. Coffee is more than simply bean juice, it is a lifeline. Coffee is a way of life. Coffee is joy and happiness in a mug. Main Street Bakery aka Magic Kingdom Starbucks Starbucks coffee specifically holds a special place in our hearts. Since Starbucks infiltrated the Disney World parks, we have become huge fans. Yes, there are Joffrey’s coffee stands in Disney, which are also great options, but we mostly find ourselves frequenting the Starbucks locations. And as we visit, we often wonder how are these Starbucks shops costing us more in the parks? As much as we love Starbucks, we will be the first to admit that our habit is not overly economical. Our goodies often cost us $5 or more, depending on what we get and how many. Starbucks is not necessarily “cheap” anywhere, but how does getting your coffee fix at a Disney park Starbucks cost you more than at home? Here are just a few ways! May Literally Cost You More We noticed that Starbucks changes their prices for their items depending on the location. This is not only true in Disney World, but nearly everywhere. The Line at Main Street Bakery in Magic Kingdom! Our writers at DFB live around the country, and we noticed that the prices of the same Starbucks drink vary based on where we live. For example, a Grande Mango Dragonfruit Starbucks Refresher in Pennsylvania costs more ($5.25) than the same drink in the central part of the country ($4.75). ©Starbucks This trend continues in Disney World. Interestingly, the same Mango Dragonfruit Refresher in Magic Kingdom at the Main Street Bakery costs just a little bit more than in Pennsylvania at $5.29. But over in Disney Springs the grande Mango Dragonfruit refresher is $4.75. And in Memphis, TN, you’ll be paying $5.75 for the same drink. ©Disney So depending on where you’re from or even where you’re at in Disney World, your Starbucks drinks may literally cost you more. You Can’t Use a Reusable Mug in the Parks Starbucks just rolled out their new reusable mug policy in almost all their stores! Now, when you bring in a clean reusable mug to use for your drink you’ll get 10 cents off your drink and 25 bonus stars. This can be used in-store, in the drive-thru, or even through mobile order — but not in the Disney World parks. Can’t use refillable cups! You cannot use your own mugs in the parks. There goes the 10 cents you would have saved, the 25 bonus stars, and all our money. You can use your own mug at Disney Springs, though! So if you like to save the environment one plastic cup at a time and get rewarded for it, grab your coffee at the Springs location. You Can’t Redeem Your Stars in the Parks Unfortunately, all those stars you’ve been saving up to redeem for free coffee cannot be used at a Starbucks in a Disney World park. Trolley Car Cafe You can earn stars in the parks for each purchase if you’re a Starbucks rewards member, but you can’t use them there. But an exception to earning stars in the parks is that you can’t earn bonus stars there, only the ones you’ve paid full price for. If you’re hoping to redeem your stars, we recommend heading to Flamingo Crossing or Disney Springs! Ease of Access/Peer Pressure While the last few ways Starbucks will cost you more in the parks have been direct, there are a couple of indirect ways that could cost you more than at home, as well. Since we walk right by every Starbucks in each park every day, we are more likely to pick it up than if we were just hanging out at home. Starbucks in Animal Kingdom It’s so hard to walk past the shops, smell all the yummy smells, and see everyone else with their cups of joy and NOT get one! The ease of access and peer pressure really get to us and make us spend all our money. Waiting in Line Might Make You Buy More A small inconvenience about Starbucks in the Disney World parks is that you can’t use Mobile Order at them. While a lot of dining locations let you order ahead, Starbucks currently does not (in either the Starbucks app or the Disney World app). Connections Cafe in EPCOT So how does not using Mobile Ordering cost you more money? Have you found yourself standing in line waiting to order and see all the delicious treats, baked goods, and drinks and realize you need all of them? Yes, us too. When we end up standing in line, we tend to grab things we didn’t think we needed, and therefore, end up spending more money. It’s a vicious cycle. Standing in line is not good for our wallet Starbucks is how we make it through a Disney World day. We power through all the early mornings and miles of walking with our fancy Starbucks coffee, even if it does cost us a small fortune (but we’ll never admit we have a problem). Regardless, if you’re like us and need your coffee fix, you may want to set a specific coffee budget for your trips! If you’re hoping to save a little money, check out the Starbucks locations at Disney Springs or Flaming Crossing. And for more Disney news and tips, keep following DFB!
