  1. Yeah, yeah, we know it’s not even officially summer yet, but we’re already pumped about Halloween in Disney World! Halloween decorations For 2024, Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party (MNSSHP) is returning to Magic Kingdom and we’re going to have a BLAST with trick-or-treating, specialty entertainment, rare character meets, and low wait times for rides. And if you’re planning a trip to the Halloween party this year, then today may be an important day for you! Starting Friday, June 7th, people staying at Disney World Resort hotels will be able to make reservations for restaurants and dessert parties during MNSSHP! Those not staying at a Disney World hotel will be able to make reservations starting on June 10th. Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party For those interested in a dessert party, there are two options — Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular Dessert Party with Plaza Garden Viewing and Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular Dessert Party at Tomorrowland Terrace. The Plaza Garden Viewing party is $99 for adults and $59 for children ages 3-9, with a dessert buffet offered at Tomorrowland Terrace and then reserved viewing area for the fireworks show in the Plaza Garden. Not-So-Spooky Spectacular Dessert Party For the Tomorrowland Terrace version of the party, you’ll pay $119 per adult and $75 per child. With this version, you get the same dessert buffet, but you also get reserved seating at Tomorrowland Terrace to view the show — you won’t have to stand up at all! Dessert party seating If you don’t want to pay for the fireworks dessert parties but you DO want to have a sit-down meal during MNSSHP, you can do that as well! Be Our Guest Restaurant, Plaza Restaurant, and Cinderella’s Royal Table will all be open during the event. Reservations are recommended. Prices vary for these meals, as you’ll be ordering off the individual restaurant’s menu. Be Our Guest As people who’ve been to Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party dozens of times, we don’t generally recommend these options for first-timers. Both dessert parties and sit-down meals take up a significant amount of party time, and you only get about 5 hours of party time in total. We recommend grabbing dinner during the period before the party kicks off (in that 4PM-7PM window) so that you don’t miss any of the festitivies, and saving the fireworks dessert party for a regular visit to Magic Kingdom. Main Street U.S.A. at night When you’re paying hundreds of dollars for your family to go to MNSSHP, you’ll want to make the most of your time! It’s already a challenge to accomplish everything in a short amount of time, but adding in a long meal can make that goal even more unattainable. Ultimately, it’s totally up to you what you’d like to do, and your priorities may be different than ours if your Halloween party day is the ONLY day you have in Magic Kingdom! 2. Have we been sleeping on a classic Disney snack? Disneyland Disneyland opened in 1955 and has since served as the blueprint for the ultimate theme park experience. With innovative attractions, unforgettable theming, and excellent food, Disneyland remains a true juggernaut in the industry. Speaking of excellent food, The Happiest Place on Earth certainly doesn’t lack any — but has one classic Disneyland treat been unjustly forgotten? While it has likely been passed in popularity by the turkey leg, popcorn, and churros, the Disneyland Chimichanga is still an iconic Disneyland snack. While it’s harder to find these days, we headed over to Ship to Shore Marketplace to see if this Tex-Mex treat is still a worthy Disneyland snack! Chimichanga While they aren’t sold in as many locations these days as decades prior, you can find them at Ship to Shore Marketplace — the bigger quick service stand over in Frontierland next to Mark Twain Riverboat and the Sailing Ship Columbia. In addition to Chimichangas, this spot also serves Jumbo Turkey Legs and Corn on the Cob among other perfect for on-the-go snacks. Ship to Shore Marketplace The Chimichanga costs $6.99 and also comes in a Breakfast Chimichanga variant for the same price. The breakfast version is sold until 11AM daily or until supplies run out. Ship to Shore Menu The Chimichanga comes wrapped in foil and is super easy to eat both sitting down and walking around the park. The foil also helps keep it warmer for longer. Enjoy it on the go! As for the Chimichanga itself, this snack is basically a deep-fried burrito with a beans and beef mix. A nice, golden crisp The deep-fried tortilla is the star here and elevates it from just a regular burrito. Ours was perfectly crispy, with a great crunch on the outside and a soft interior. It’s thick enough to hold everything together, but isn’t tough so eating it is a breeze. Inside of the Chimichanga The beef and beans mix inside is pretty thick, making this a surprisingly filling treat. With that said, you’ll mostly get the flavor of beans, so if you’re looking for something beefier, we recommend going to the nearby Rancho del Zocalo Restaurante instead. Still, if you love a good bean burrito, the Chimichanga is definitely worth a try. Chimichangas are (famously) the favorite food of the new Marvel Cinematic Universe character Deadpool, and we can definitely see why! It’s a super simple snack, but incredibly filling, reliably tasty, and quintessentially Disneyland. The Best Snacks in Disneyland for 2024 There ya have it! Have you tried the Disneyland Chimichanga? 3. Can you believe it?! Opening day for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure in Magic Kingdom is almost here!! Tiana’s Bayou Adventure With only a few days left until the ride officially opens (June 28th), we’re all counting down the hours until we can join Tiana on a trip through the bayou, check out all the new merch, and just have a hopping good time. All of that being said, this ride has a catch, and it’s one that just might become the new number 1 problem in Magic Kingdom. Let’s talk about it! First up, let’s go over the backstory just in case you haven’t been following everything (like us). So, Disney closed Splash Mountain about a year and a half ago to begin a Princess and the Frog-themed makeover. The ride’s storyline takes place “after the final kiss” in the movie, so it’s a continuation of Tiana’s story. Tiana has made her dream come true by opening her own restaurant, and now she wants to throw a Mardi Gras party for the people of New Orleans to thank them for supporting her restaurant. But she notices that the party is missing a key ingredient, and she needs our help to find it! Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Concept Art ©Disney Guests join Tiana on a trip through the bayou, where we’ll meet up with friends like Louis and Mama Odie. The ride still has its thrilling 5-story drop, and you’ll probably still get very wet! Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Now that we have that out of the way, what was the issue we were mentioning earlier (the one with the potential to become the number 1 problem in Magic Kingdom)? Well, this ride will be using Virtual Queue and also be a part of Disney Genie+, but that’s not the issue. The issue is that Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is super weather-sensitive, which means that this is set to be the first VQ ride that can be shut down if the weather gets nasty! Tiana’s Bayou Adventure As we said, when the ride opens, it will use a virtual queue, meaning there will be no standby line. You’ll need to join that queue on the My Disney Experience (MDE) app. For more information about how to use Disney World’s virtual queue system, click here! It will also be available as part of Disney Genie+, so if you purchase the skip-the-line service for Magic Kingdom, you’ll be able to reserve a Lightning Lane pass to skip the wait. (Note that it’s part of Genie+ and does NOT have its own a la carte Individual Lightning Lane.) We’re expecting the ride to be super popular when it opens, so if you do plan on using Genie+ to reserve a Lightning Lane there, make sure to get that one FIRST. Learn all about Disney Genie+ and how to use it here! Tiana’s Bayou Adventure in Magic Kingdom Like we were saying, if the weather gets really bad, your meticulously planned Genie+ selections or VQ could be in jeopardy. But don’t worry! Here are some tips that will help you dodge this rainy-day disaster: Plan Ahead and Keep an Eye on the Forecast: Check the weather forecast religiously! I know it sounds obvious, but Florida weather can be unpredictable. We’d recommend using a reliable weather app and keeping an eye on the forecast, especially in the days leading up to your trip. Prioritize Early Morning Rides: You’ll want to snag that VQ slot or Genie+ reservation for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure as early in the day as possible. Morning typically means cooler and more stable weather. Plus, if you’re early, that means you’re less likely to get hit by the afternoon showers that Central Florida is infamous for. Have a Backup Plan: If the worst happens and Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is temporarily closed, have a backup plan ready. (Park hopping is your friend!) For example, if your plans are messed up by the weather, consider heading to another park and then trying again another day. Remember, flexibility is the name of the game! Utilize the App for Updates: The My Disney Experience app will be your BFF during your visit. Check it often for real-time updates on ride closures and wait times. Disney is pretty good about keeping everyone informed, so if Tiana’s is down due to the weather, you’ll know right away and can adjust your plans accordingly. Bring Your Rain Gear: Lastly, don’t forget your ponchos and umbrellas! Even if you can’t get on the ride, it’s better to come prepared for the rain rather than let it ruin your day. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Tiana’s Bayou Adventure officially opens on June 28th, though some people get to preview the ride EARLY, including Cast Members, Annual Passholders, DVC Members, and D23 Gold Members. You can learn more about those previews here: Disney Cast Member previews on June 3rd and 7th and June 23rd and 26th Disney Vacation Club member previews on June 12th and June 19th Disney World Annual Passholder previews on June 13th, 14th, 15th, 16th, 17th, 18th, and 20th D23 Gold Member Special Ticket preview on June 22nd See a full ride-through of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure here. 4. We’ve got some bad news to deliver…A wildly popular Marvel show is about to be no more. Avengers Campus Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure opened in 2021 and the Doctor Strange: Mysteries of the Mystic Arts show has been part of the land since Day 1. However, it appears that its run is about to end soon, and there may be some hidden reasons behind the closing. According to The Orange County Register and Disneyland officials, Doctor Strange: Mysteries of the Mystic is set to have its final shows on June 30th, 2024 before closing for good. Ancient Sanctum The show is no longer featured on Disneyland’s website and has been replaced with a page dedicated to the Ancient Sanctum, the area where the Doctor Strange show took place. With that said, the Disneyland entertainment calendar still shows six performances scheduled for June 30th. ©Disney The Doctor Strange: Mysteries of the Mystic Arts show featured the titular character performing magic in front of a standing-room-only crowd. During the show, he would train recruits (the audience) in the ways of the mystic arts and use a magical portal to pull Marvel heroes and villains — such as Thor, Captain Marvel, and America Chavez — into the Ancient Sanctum. Now, the Ancient Sanctum website is described by Disney as a place to “explore the ruins of a mysterious ancient sanctum and learn the site’s secrets from Doctor Strange.” It appears that the area will continue to exist as new entertainment offerings are evaluated. However, Disney did note that “Dr. Strange will continue to encounter guests throughout the campus.” Doctor Strange (Christian Thompson/Disneyland Resort) This closure comes on the heels of the removal of the live DJ and dancers from the limited-time Club Pixar show and the unionization of Disneyland character performers. Club Pixar The vote to unionize passed the proposal on May 18th, and Actors’ Equity Association President Kate Shindle said of the employees, “They’re the human beings who create lifelong memories when your kids hug a character, or when your family watches a parade roll by the castle. The next step will be to collaborate with them about improving health & safety, wages, benefits, working conditions and job security.” Iron Man Of course, speculation has arisen as to whether the unionization led to the cancellation of these shows, but we may never know for certain. It’s also possible that Doctor Strange: Mysteries of the Mystic Arts could potentially return after union negotiations are complete, but that remains to be seen. Can You Feel the Power? 5. The “soft open” for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is off to a rough start. ©Disney Cast Member previews started over the weekend, and each day has seen lots of down time, queue closures, and ride evacuations. Members of the DFB Team who have been invited to ride with Cast Member friends were not able to ride on Monday, June 3rd, or Tuesday, June 4th, because the ride was down at their designated time, and eventually it was down so long that their reservations were canceled. So, WHY is this ride having so much trouble? Disney traditionally does not release information about why rides go down, but we do have some theories. Let’s talk about it. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is set to open in Magic Kingdom on June 28th, but for the next few weeks, the ride is in soft open — with previews for Cast Members, the media, then Disney Vacation Club members, and then Annual Passholders — all leading up to that official opening day. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure The ride’s storyline takes place one year after the end of The Princess and the Frog movie, as Tiana prepares to throw a Mardi Gras party for her community. We get to journey into the bayou with Tiana to find the “missing ingredient” for her party — and we meet lots of new, musical critters along the way! ©Disney And, as you probably already know, this ride uses the same ride vehicles and ride track as Splash Mountain, which Disney closed in early 2023. And that has led a lot of people online to question why it seems so hard to keep a ride that already existed running consistently. Yes, it’s in previews, and yes, previews are generally when all the kinks are worked out as Cast Members train on operating the ride — but the ride has been down A LOT, and we’ve witnessed several ride evacuations. Cast Members assist in evacuating a ride vehicle at Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. So why is this ride in particular so hard to keep running? We have some thoughts. It seems like what we are seeing here is maybe some conflict between the old technology of the ride — which was shut down and dormant for more than a year — and the new technology in new animatronics and ride scenes installed into a ride that is technically more than 30 years old. (Splash Mountain opened in Disney World in 1992.) We have been told some possible reasons for closures — and again, I stress that we are speculating here and going off information being told to us by Cast Members in a non-official capacity — could have been logs syncing in the ride, and wiring setting off fire alarms. The alarms in particular would have to be calibrated as the ride runs and could have been set to be too sensitive. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure queue In addition, this ride is an indoor/outdoor situation starting up during a summer where record heat in Orlando is already predicted. The closest reference to this situation is the opening of Frozen Ever After — another Disney World ride that was built using the same ride track and ride vehicles as an older ride (Maelstrom, in that case). But while Maelstrom had a partial indoor/outdoor track, that ride building was closed in for Frozen Ever After, so the environment for it is entirely climate-controlled. Frozen Ever After We don’t recall Frozen Ever After having a lot of down time or ride interruptions and evacuations during its first few days of operation. However, there is a major difference in the way the ride was introduced in 2016. It did not have the weeks of previews that Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is having. Even a planned press preview for Frozen Ever After was canceled in the wake of the Pulse Nightclub shooting in Orlando in June 2016. And “soft opens” are often the times that businesses of any kind use to work out any kinks and test things out — so that’s definitely part of what we’re seeing with Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. Regardless of the issues we’re seeing now, we expect them to be resolved soon and for the ride’s opening date later this month to be smooth sailing — or log riding, as it were — in Frontierland! “Borderline Boring”: Here’s Why I’m Not Surprised at the Reaction to Disney World’s Newest Ride Join the DFB Newsletter to get all the breaking news right in your inbox! 7. Line-jumpers beware! ©Knott’s Berry Farm Knott’s Berry Farm — the iconic Southern California theme park that opened 104 years ago — is introducing a new program (as well as enforcing some rules they technically already had) to curb those who try to cut in line on the park’s most popular attractions. First off, Knott’s Berry Farm is going to enforce its preexisting rule that clearly states that “leaving and re-entering a line for any reason or place holding in line” is prohibited. The park is encouraging riders to get food or use the bathroom before hopping in line. If anyone does leave the line, they need to inform an employee that they plan to rejoin their group. ©Knott’s Berry Farm Beyond enforcing this preexisting rule, Knott’s has also introduced a new texting program. Similar to one at other Cedar Fair parks (Cedar Fair is the corporate owner of Knott’s Berry Farm), the program features a phone number for visitors to text Knott’s security about line jumpers. This program is advertised on new signage around the theme park. According to a Knott’s security official, “When officers are dispatched, our goal is to gain compliance and familiarize guests with our code of conduct, but repeat offenders will be asked to leave Knott’s Berry Farm.” Currently, the new signage is on display outside the popular GhostRider coaster, but guests park-wide can text security for issues during this testing phase. Knott’s Berry Farm The new system, which comes at the start of the busy summer theme park season, is the latest in a series of rule-updating efforts Knott’s has made in recent years. In 2022 and again in 2023, Knott’s enacted a chaperone policy that required guests ages 15 and under to be accompanied by a chaperone aged 21 years old or older in order for them to be admitted or remain inside the theme park after 4PM. According to the rule as written in 2023, “The chaperone must present a valid government-issued photo identification with date of birth at ticket entry. One chaperone may accompany no more than 10 guests ages 15 or younger per day.” Park officials said in a statement at the time, “The safety of our guests and associates has always been our top priority at Knott’s Berry Farm. Over the past two years, there have been increasing incidents of unruly and inappropriate behavior across our industry and at other major entertainment venues. Our guests expect and deserve a safe, family-friendly atmosphere when they visit Knott’s Berry Farm. ” Knott’s Berry Farm’s latest enforcement of their rules, along with their newly introduced text-messaging system, is aimed at cutting down line-jumping at the park. Stay tuned to DFB for more theme park industry updates. 4 Things Disney World Ride Queues Desperately Need Join the DFB Newsletter to get all the breaking news right in your inbox! 8. Every Disneyland bucket list should include dining at Blue Bayou Restaurant! Blue Bayou Blue Bayou is an atmospheric dining experience found in New Orleans Square at Disneyland Park. Literally found within the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction in the bayou scene, Blue Bayou opened in 1967 and serves Cajun cuisine. One of the most famous Disney restaurants in the world and serving as inspiration for many other atmospheric dining experiences that followed, Blue Bayou remains legendary to this day. But does it hold up after all this time? We recently visited and found an answer! Atmosphere Blue Bayou is the crown jewel of New Orleans Square dining. Once you enter the waiting room, you’re immediately met with upscale bayou architectural theming. Blue Bayou waiting room Once inside the restaurant, you’ll notice there is only one dining room. However, no matter the time of day when you visit, the room will always be dimly lit with a romantic ambiance under the bayou night sky. Truly a blue bayou! The room is lit with lanterns and the set of the nearby Pirates of the Caribbean ride. One of the best Blue Bayou pastimes is watching the riders sail by as they go from the relaxing bayou to the perilous drops! You can get great views of Pirates of the Caribbean While the ambiance can be felt all throughout the dining room, it’s worth noting the best views are easily closer to the water. Blue Bayou As for the dining room itself, the chairs and tables are pretty standard, which can feel cramped at times. Seating As we previously mentioned, the lighting is dimmer in this restaurant (it’s always night after all), but the lanterns, table lights, and menu lights typically suffice to provide just enough light while maintaining a romantic feel. This is definitely a great date location (while being totally family-friendly)! Blue Bayou is truly unique All in all, aside from Club 33, it’s fair to say that Blue Bayou is the nicest restaurant at Disneyland and its setting within Pirates of the Caribbean elevates it to a special atmospheric experience. But how’s the food? Menu The menu at Blue Bayou changes seasonally but you can always expect a menu catered towards fine dining and Cajun cuisine. Blue Bayou menu Blue Bayou serves lunch and dinner and is one of the rare Disneyland restaurants that serves alcohol. You’ll find wine, beer, cocktails, special kid-friendly lemonade, and even juleps. Appetizers can include gumbo, salads, and crab cakes, and entrées can feature market fish, steak, chicken, and pasta dishes. You’ll find plenty of hearty eats as well as cocktails As for dessert, you’ll often find crème brûlée, macarons, cheesecake, ice cream, and teas and coffee. Dessert menu Blue Bayou offers refined meals, so expect to pay more than what you would at most Disneyland restaurants. This table-service restaurant can get pricey, so be aware before you make advanced dining reservations or join a waitlist. With that down, let’s get into the food itself! Eats We tried the Heirloom Tomato and Watermelon Salad, Pistachio Lemon-Basil Pasta, and Crème Brûlée Tart. Heirloom Tomato and Watermelon Salad The Heirloom Tomato and Watermelon Salad is an appetizer served with greens, agave crema, pickled watermelon rind, and a shallot vinaigrette for $15. We found it to be incredibly light and refreshing! Everything tasted really fresh, especially the tomatoes and greens. The tomatoes were juicy, sweet, and full of flavor. Our major complaints were that the shallot vinaigrette was too simple in its tangy and vinegary taste, and the watermelon lacked distinct flavor. We could’ve used more fresh and flavorful watermelon in the salad. Refreshing! If you’re looking for a light and refreshing salad, check this out! It was also the only vegan appetizer on the menu when we visited. If you’re not a fan of tomatoes, we recommend trying something else. Another veggie option, the Pistachio Lemon-Basil Pasta entrée will cost you $29 and was the cheapest entrée on the menu. Pistachio Lemon-Basil Pasta Made with asparagus, squash blossoms, pea tendrils, and cherry tomatoes in pistachio-basil pesto, we found this dish simple, yet tasty. The pasta was cooked perfectly and had hints of basil and light lemon flavor throughout. The pistachio flavor was also light except with bites that had chopped-up pistachio. The cherry tomatoes added a refreshing and sweet flavor, but we would’ve liked more. This was a surprising winner! Overall, we were fans of this pasta! The portion size was generous and the pasta itself was the right amount of citrusy in flavor. Simple, tasty, and a safe dish, we would get this again. For dessert, we tried the Crème Brûlée Tart in a tart shell for $10. Crème Brûlée Tart The berries were sweet and fresh, complimenting the vanilla flavor of the custard well. The crème brûlée had a pleasant and rich vanilla bean flavor, topped with a satisfying caramel and burnt sugar taste. The tart shell tasted like shortbread and had a crumbly shortbread texture. The only downside is that this dessert isn’t really shareable, as it is kind of small. However, since it’s only $10, we really couldn’t complain. DELICIOUS! Crème Brûlée fans HAVE to try this! We think any crème brûlée fan would love it. It’s also a vegan option with a rich vanilla flavor, so if that sounds appetizing to you, give it a try! And that’s everything we ate! Overall, we have plenty of thoughts… OVERALL We can’t recommend Blue Bayou enough! Atmospheric, unique, delicious, and featuring a kind, personable, helpful, and quick waitstaff, this Disneyland restaurant remains worth the visit after all these years. Blue Bayou Our food came out quickly and tasted amazing. The ambiance is one of the best at Disneyland and, despite being one of the price options at the theme park, Blue Bayou is worth dining at at least once thanks to the experience and food quality. Nosh or Not? Head on down to the Blue Bayou if… You want to get away from the crowds. The Blue Bayou transports diners to the bayou away from the sunny confines of Disneyland. It feels like a getaway and separate from the park, featuring a high-class meal and a relaxing atmosphere. You want to celebrate a special occasion. Blue Bayou dining feels special with its elevated menu and brilliant theming, so it makes sense to eat here if you want to celebrate someone or something special. Perfect for romantic dates, birthdays, and most special occasions, Blue Bayou offers an experience you can’t get anywhere else at Disneyland. You’re a fan of Disneyland history. Pirates of the Caribbean is quite literally setting sail right next to you, so if you’re a fan of this iconic Disneyland attraction, it’s a ton of fun to get a view of it from the other side. Additionally, Walt Disney worked on the Blue Bayou project! Although he wasn’t alive to see it open in all its glory, he did eat here and put a lot of his own influence into its design. Skip on past this bayou if… You’re on a budget. The Blue Bayou is NOT budget-friendly and will likely be one of the most expensive meals you purchase at Disneyland. The nearby Cafe Orleans offers similar Cajun cuisine for a generally lower price and there are plenty of other quick-service locations in the area that will offer you a tasty meal for a lot less. You’re in a hurry. Dining at the Blue Bayou will take a chunk out of your day, despite the prompt service. You’ll naturally want to linger and get your money’s worth. If you need a quicker meal, Disneyland has plenty of other options that will save you time. You’re traveling with small children. While the Blue Bayou caters to kids and adults alike, this is still a fine dining experience by Disneyland standards. If you’re looking for a simpler, cheaper menu, Tiana’s Palace and Harbour Galley are both close by. Pirates of the Caribbean Disneyland Thanks for coming along for our Blue Bayou review! 9. It looks like a certain country legend is dusting off her trophy case because she just beat out Disney World and Disneyland for this theme park award! Cinderella Castle We’re Disney Food Blog, so of course we’re always writing about Disney World in Florida and Disneyland in California. But, the truth is, we love theme parks in general! And although it isn’t every day that we mention this certain theme park, we have to recognize it for being named the favorite theme park in the country by the National Amusement Park Historical Association, surpassing both U.S. Disney parks! According to Knox News, Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, TN, has been named America’s favorite theme park! Based on the National Amusement Park Historical Association’s 38th annual survey, it beat out not just the Disney parks but all the other theme parks in the country! And with over 641 theme parks in the U.S., it’s truly a real feat. ©Dollywood Dollywood is a family amusement park created by country singer and icon Dolly Parton. Established in 1961 and nestled inside Pigeon Forge, Tennesse, the park — spanning over 150 acres — offers a mix of thrill rides, family-friendly attractions, live entertainment, and immersive experiences. One of its most notable rides is the new Big Bear Mountain roller coaster, which was awarded the best new attraction of 2023. In addition to rides, Dollywood showcases traditional crafts and artisans, reflecting the rich heritage of the Appalachian region. Visitors can watch demonstrations of blacksmithing, glassblowing, pottery making, and more. ©Dollywood Live entertainment is also a very important part of the Dollywood experience, with numerous shows featuring bluegrass, country, gospel, and other genres performed by talented musicians and entertainers. The park also hosts seasonal events like the Harvest Festival, Smoky Mountain Christmas, and Barbeque & Bluegrass, adding to the festive atmosphere. ©Dollywood Disney fans worry not, however, because Disney World was ranked the second-best theme park, while Disneyland secured third place. 10. If you’re headed to the Disney Parks in search of great food, look no further than Disney California Adventure! Disney California Adventure Home to most of the Disneyland Resort’s festivals, California Adventure is the place to go if you’re in the market for interesting eats and limited-time snacks. Right now, the parks are celebrating Pixar Fest from April 26th through August 4th, 2024, with tons of Pixar fun like a new parade, themed merch, and special food offerings. Speaking of special food offerings, we recently stopped by California Adventure to try a NEW Pixar Fest dessert based on Pixar’s Inside Out! Boardwalk Pizza & Pasta has gotten into the Pixar Fest spirit by previously selling an Anger Cheesecake, but now it’s honoring a different Inside Out character with the brand-new Sadness Cheesecake! Sadness Cheesecake This Pixar Fest cheesecake costs $6.99 and is served with cotton candy cheesecake with blue mousse and a blue memory orb. You can pick this up at Boardwalk Pizza & Pasta! We were pleasantly surprised by this cheesecake! The cotton candy flavor is subtle at first but gets bolder with each bite. The box says the cotton candy flavor is natural — and we don’t really know how that’s possible — but in terms of flavor, the cotton candy doesn’t really feel as forced or artificially enhanced as we were expecting. A great summer treat Light, refreshing, and full of that sweet cotton candy flavor in every bite, this dessert never overpowered us but softly welcomed us back for another bite until we devoured the whole thing. Graham cracker base The tart at the bottom of the dessert had Disney’s typical Graham cracker flavor which provided a nice crumbly texture. The taste was also good, but still dominated by the cotton candy cheesecake. If the cheesecake flavor wasn’t as good, we’d probably have a bigger problem with this but we were too busy eating to care. Seconds before it was devoured We did have some minor complaints. The blue mousse didn’t provide much flavor outside of hints of cotton candy. It was like a pretty basic icing without any strong flavors — not good or bad, just there. The orb is also chocolate and wasn’t exactly the best quality of chocolate we’ve had at the park. However, once we dipped in the orb in the cheesecake it immediately tasted better. Overall, we were pleasantly surprised by how light and perfectly sweet this new dessert is! We think its fair price and good flavor will appeal to many demographics. For us, this is a great summer treat, especially if you’re in the mood for a light snack or dessert after a hearty meal. If you don’t like cotton candy or a candy-inspired cheesecake, you might want to avoid this dessert. Otherwise, head on over to Boardwalk Pizza & Pasta and give it a try! 11. Rock Royalty recently paid a visit to Magic Kingdom. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Celebrities have been visiting Disney parks since Disneyland first opened in 1955. From heads of state and Hollywood hotshots to teeny-bop icons and sports figures, all have paid a visit to Disney’s parks and resorts. Recently, a member of one of rock & roll’s most iconic bands took some time off from their tour to visit the Most Magical Place on Earth. Ronnie Wood, longtime guitarist for the Rolling Stones, shared a photo on his Instagram account that he and his family recently paid a visit to the Magic Kingdom. Source: @RonnieWood Instagram Wood captioned the post, “Thank you Disney & Mickey @disneyparks @waltdisneyworld, the rides were a tonic! #tron #spacemountain ~ we had a blast you keep me rockin’ #waltdisneyworld” Wood, who was previously a member of The Faces, has been a member of the Rolling Stones since replacing original guitarist Mick Taylor’s spot in 1975. He and the rest of the band were in town for the Central Florida date of their Hackney Diamonds world tour. While Wood’s photo documented a visit to Magic Kingdom, we kind of hope the rocker and his party were able to pay a visit to Hollywood Studios as well. After all, according to a long-running rumor, the Rolling Stones were one of the bands considered for the Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster — along with U2 — before Disney eventually worked out an agreement with Aerosmith. Of course, he wouldn’t have actually been able to ride the coaster right now, given that it’s still in refurbishment, but hey, not even Ronnie Wood can always get what he wants. 12. Planning for Disney World is no easy task. Magic Kingdom Not only do you need to make sure the whole family is ready with all the correct amount of outfits, all the medication you’ll need, and everything else under the sun. But there’s something else you need to plan ahead for — will the outfits you’re wearing work well with the rides you’re planning to experience? DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. Listen, some Disney World rides are just NOT made for certain outfits (ahem, dresses and skirts). If you’re in one of those outfits in the park, these are the rides you’ll want to be VERY careful on, or avoid entirely. TRON Lightcycle / Run and Flight of Passage Hey, you know those two strange ride vehicles in Disney World where you board it like a bike, but you’re also leaning forward the whole time? See where this is going? Yeah, these are NOT the rides to do in dresses or skirts (or really short shorts, for that matter). TRON Lightcycle / Run Let’s just say some members of our team have personal experience with this one. When you lean forward in any skirt or dress normally, it’s going to ride up because, well, that’s just how they work. Now on these rides, not only are you leaning forward, but you’re also flying through the air (sorta for Flight of Passage), which means wind. And wind with…you get the picture. Flight of Passage There is a backrest that comes up and locks you into place, but that doesn’t stop your skirt or dress from going flying in the wind. And especially on TRON, there could be people behind you!! And we’d like to give a few honorable mentions as well! Space Mountain Listen, while you’re secured in the ride vehicle during the actual ride, these ride vehicles are NOT easy to get out in and out of! Space Mountain You’ve got to twist and turn and pull and push (not joking) all at the same time, and that means it’s VERY easy for skirts and dresses to ride up. Astro Orbiter Again, you may not think these will be dangerous, but these cars also aren’t easy to get in and out of! More twisting and turning is required, especially the larger/taller you are, so beware! Astro Orbiter Plus, you ride an elevator UP to get to this attraction which means WIND! And even the smallest bit of wind in the wrong direction can put you in an awkward situation real fast. The Barnstormer To clarify, this one is really only on here for the adults — your kiddos will likely be fine, but these cars are SMALL. Barnstormer So if you’re an adult in a car by yourself, not to mention being with someone else in the car, it’s going to take a second to get situated (again, we have personal experience). Be prepared! What To Do About It Not to worry though, there’s an easy way to fix this issue! We personally recommend wearing Slip Shorts underneath your dress or skirt to be prepared for any ride or any windy weather that may occur. ©Amazon This pack comes with three colors, meaning you can match it to the outfit you’re wearing! A lot of our team chooses black over other colors, but the other options are very popular as well. Buy them here! Or, you can also grab a dress or skirt with shorts built into them, such as the ODODOS Women’s Tennis Skirt! ©Amazon These are so stylish, cute, and comfortable, and the best part? They’re available in a variety of colors, meaning you can match any shirt with them! Grab it online! We’re always here to bring you all the latest packing and planning tips and tricks, so stay tuned to DFB! Check out our Amazon Storefront for more of our favorites! 13. Trust us, you’re not going to go hungry if you’re searching for delicious snacks in Disney World. Cinderella Castle in Disney World’s Magic Kingdom Each of the parks and resorts has its own variety of specialty treats on top of the common, more iconic Disney snacks. And if you’re heading to Magic Kingdom, you’ll likely encounter some of Disney’s most famous eats! But even with a long list of popular snacks to choose from, the park is often adding new options, and this week we spotted a new one at Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe. Since June of 2023, Cosmic Ray’s has offered a Stitch Mousse Cake as one of its dessert options. We were surprised it stuck around so long since it had been introduced for 6/26, the Stitch holiday. However, it has now been replaced! Say hello to the Passion Fruit-Mandarin Tart. A new treat on Mobile Order! I Mobile Ordered the new dessert, which is $5.79 , and topped with whipped cream and a white chocolate piece. And let me tell you, it turned out SO pretty! It looks like a mini galaxy! The tart is made of a few layers. First, there’s the shell, which was surprisingly soft for a Disney World theme park tart (usually those shells are kind of crunchy). Inside the shell was a mousse that was light and fluffy, and had a mild mandarin flavor. Topping it off was a passion fruit curd that was gelatinous in texture, and quite tart. Passion Fruit-Mandarin Tart On top of all that, there was multicolored whipped cream to hold the white chocolate decor in place. My one complaint here is that you could definitely taste the food coloring in the white chocolate. I would recommend this for anyone who loves citrus desserts or doesn’t mind their treats on the tart and tangy side. If you prefer sugary sweet snacks, then this might not be the one for you. Either way, it’s absolutely stunning in person and I was impressed with the quality from a place like Cosmic Ray’s! The layers! This probably won’t be my number-one go-to snack in Magic Kingdom in the future, but it would be a great option to add to your meal if you’re planning on dining at Cosmic Ray’s. We’ll make sure to keep you in the loop with any more new snacks in the parks, so stay tuned to DFB. We’ve got all the food updates you need to know before your vacation! 14. If you have a sweet tooth, you’ve come to the right place! Disney Springs Disney World may be famous for its theme park attractions, hotels, and unforgettable entertainment, but here at the Disney Food Blog, we make it no secret that we’re OBSESSED with Disney food — especially the desserts. While the Disney Parks have plenty of great desserts, we can’t forget about some of our absolute favorites at Disney Springs! We love sooo many desserts at Disney Springs, that we came up with 12 that just might be worth skipping the parks for — let’s take a look! Bombolato — Vivoli il Gelato If a warm Italian donut filled with gelato and your choice of sauce sounds like your kind of dessert, then you’ve got to try the Bombolato at Vivoli il Gelato! This $10.50 treat comes with an Italian donut filled with one scoop of gelato. Mocha Caramel Bombolato We’ve tried many flavors including the Mocha Caramel Bombolato (donut, coffee gelato, chocolate chips, and caramel sauce), the Nutella Tiramisu Bombolato (donut, tiramisu gelato, chocolate sauce, Nutella, and lady fingers), and the Strawberry Shortcake Bombolato (donut, cake batter gelato, fresh strawberries, and strawberry sauce). It’s been hard to eat donuts and gelato separately since. Gelato — Vivoli il Gelato Staying at Vivolia il Gelato, we HAVE to recommend the Gelato, of course! We’ve found their Gelato to be rich and creamy with a wide variety of flavors. Founders Porter Gelato Kids Cups cost $6.50, single scoops cost, $7.75, double scoops cost $9.75, and Wine/Beer Gelato Cups cost $7.50. You can also add toppings and a waffle cone for an additional price. As far as flavors go, we’ve tried Rice Pudding, Pistachio, and Bacio (Chocolate Hazelnut). Current flavors include Amaretto, Banana, Black Cherry, Coffee, Cookie Dough, Coconut, Vanilla Bean, Cannoli, Mint Chocolate Chip, and more! Cookies and Hot Cookie Hour — Gideon’s Bakehouse The giant, uniquely-flavored cookies at Gideon’s Bakehouse are WILDLY popular and people are willing to wait hours to get their hands on them. The location in Disney Springs offers a rotating menu with offerings like Cookies & Cream, Peanut Butter Crunch, Dark Coffee Cake Cookie, Pistachio Toffee Chocolate Chip, Triple Chocolate Chip, Coffee Cake Cookie, and, of course, Original Chocolate Chip Cookie. Cookies are generally $6. Yum yum yum If you like to put your cookies in the microwave, Gideon’s offers an alternative — Hot Cookie Hour! Between 2PM and 3PM and again from 7PM and 8PM, Gideon’s offers its Classic Chocolate Chip straight from the oven and serves it with or without homemade ice cream. Prices range from $6 to $10. Grilled Cheeeeeese With Bacon Hack — Everglazed Donuts & Cold Brew If you think a donut shop selling grilled cheese is weird… well, you’re not alone. Still, the Grilled Cheeeeeese at Everglazed Donuts & Cold Brew is surprisingly awesome! This innovative dessert is usually served on a griddled sweet bun for $7 but can be upgraded to be served with a glazed donut instead. Grilled Cheeeeeese Bacon Donut Sandwich Hack For good measure, we recommend further upgrading your sandwich to include bacon, as well! Is this the healthiest dessert hack we’ve ever suggested? Unlikely. Is it the tastiest? It’s definitely up there! Ice Cream — Salt & Straw Bored with regular ice cream? Salt & Straw has you covered! With rotating seasonal flavors like Métier’s Black Stripe Porter & Bread Pudding, Russian River’s Supplication Ale with Manchego, La Tropical’s La Original Lager with Guava, Breakside’s Barrel-Aged Chocolate Stout, and Monkish’s Space Cookies & Cream Hazy IPA (as you can see, this month is all about the beer at this spot), Salt & Straw’s offerings are anything but normal. Prices tend to vary from $5.95 to $12.95. Add-ons like waffle cones and whipped cream can be purchased for additional charges. Salt & Straw Classic flavors include Sea Salt with Caramel Ribbons, Double Fold Vanilla, Chocolate Gooey Brownie, Panther Coffee Chocolate Tres Leches, Salted, Malted, Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, Cinnamon Snickerdoodle, Honey Lavender, Strawberry Honey Balsamic with Black Pepper, The Salty Donut Guava + Cheese, Arbequina Olive Oil, Freckled Mint Chocolate Chip, Roasted Pineapple Coconut Sherbet, and Peanut Butter Brittle Caramel Fudge. Waffle Sundaes — Marketplace Snacks Sticking with the ice cream theme, we can’t get enough of the Waffle Sundaes at Marketplace Snacks! Costing $9.49, these waffle sundaes are GORGEOUS and are themed after Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Donald, and Pluto, which all have waffles, soft-serve, and a variety of fruit, nut, and/or candy toppings! Mickey Cookie Waffle Sundae These guys are also very refreshing and sweet, making them the perfect dessert when you want to cool down during a hot Florida day! Hummingbird Cake — Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’ Some of our favorite cakes are found at Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’! Hummingbird Cake is Chef Art’s southern specialty that combines pineapple-banana cake with cream cheese frosting. It’s served with vanilla bean ice cream and costs $14. Chef Art Smith’s Hummingbird Cake This is a fan-favorite and is a definite recommendation for anyone who loves pineapple! Shine Cake — Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’ Staying at Homecomin’, the Shine Cake is another cake we can’t get enough of! This is Chef Art’s signature dessert and is perpared with an adults-only butter cake soaked with moonshine syrup. This dessert is served with a seasonal fruit gastrique and a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream. It is slightly cheaper than Hummingbird cake, coming in at $13. Shine Cake If you’re one to like your dessert to taste a little boozed up, you should definitely give this a try! Ger’s Bread and Butter Pudding — Raglan Road Irish Pub and Restaurant Simply described as “Like no other you have ever tried. Believe us,” Ger’s Bread and Butter Pudding at Raglan Road costs $12 and is truly a standout dessert. This bread and butter pudding is a layered, golden bread pudding flanked by caramel sauce and vanilla creme anglaise. Ger’s Bread and Butter Pudding We recommend being liberal with the sauce and really letting this become an ooey-gooey dessert! Mickey Mousse — Amorette’s Patisserie Famous for its pastries, cakes, and champagnes, Amorette’s Patisserie also features the iconic Mickey Mousse for $9. This dessert is made with chocolate chiffon cake, and dark chocolate and white chocolate mousse. Mickey Mousse If you’re in the market for some Mickey Mouse and Disney Parks-themed desserts, the Mickey Mousse is a great option that can be found in Disney Springs! DOLE Whip Sampler — Swirls on the Water Missing DOLE Whip? Head over to Swirls on the Water and pick up a DOLE Whip Sampler for $7.99! Samplers can include a variety of DOLE Whip seasonal flavors, including DOLE Whip Pineapple swirled with vanilla soft-serve garnished with a pineapple wedge, DOLE Whip Strawberry swirled with coconut soft-serve topped with strawberry sauce and coconut flakes, and DOLE Whip Mango swirled with DOLE Whip Lime and topped with chili-lime seasoning and diced mango. Dole Whip Sampler flight If you’re looking for something with more of a kick, check out the DOLE Whip Floats served with alcohol, also at Swirls on the Water! Create-Your-Own Treats – Goofy’s Candy Company What’s better than dessert? Customizable dessert! 16. Let me tell you a little secret about Disney World food…Animal Kingdom has some of the best! Disney’s Animal Kingdom This park often gets overlooked because of the plethora of iconic snacks at Magic Kingdom and the international treats at EPCOT, but Animal Kingdom has some absolute BANGERS. There are so many snack stands throughout the park with eats that we keep coming back for again and again, so when one of those spots introduced a new offering, you know I had to stop by and try it! During my last visit to Animal Kingdom, I headed to The Smiling Crocodile to try out the brand-new Barbacoa Nachos! They’re $9.99 and come topped with barbacoa beef, queso, lime crema, and pico de gallo. Those toppings are served on a bed of tri-colored chips. The Smiling Crocodile menu This new entree is a pretty decent portion, probably shareable as a snack or big enough to be a meal for one person. The first thing I noticed is that there’s a LOT of queso on top — and I’m certainly not complaining about that! You get a hefty amount of toppings and the pico is served up in a cup on the side. So colorful! The barbacoa beef is tender and savory, and there’s a lot of it. Some pieces were kind of fatty, but that’s probably to be expected with how big the portion size is. The queso was creamy and thick, with a distinct cheesy flavor — it reminded me a lot of the queso from Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn & Cafe, so it might be the same. The pico de gallo was a little bit watery, but had a small kick to it. If you want a hint of spice, you could spread this on top of your nachos. They come with a salsa These nachos were quite delicious, and I would totally order them again! (Seriously, SO much better than the ones I’ve had at Pecos Bill in Magic Kingdom!) The crema was probably my favorite part, because it brightened everything up and added hints of lime. However, my one complaint is that all the toppings go on top of the chips, so the top layer of chips get a little bit soggy, and the bottom layer don’t have any toppings on them at all. If you could find a way to mix up your nachos before you dig in, that might fix the issue. Loaded chip So there you go — a new entree to check out in Animal Kingdom! Keep in mind that The Smiling Crocodile really only operates during lunchtime/snack hours on Discovery Island so you’ll want to head here midday if you plan to grab the nachos. Recently, Joey Gaskins Jr. – the Regional Affairs Director of The Bahamas and the Caribbean – broke down some of the natural wonders of Eleuthera that you can expect to see on your upcoming Disney Cruise! Pink Sand Beaches According to Gaskins, one of the major natural wonders of Eleuthera — and Lighthouse Point — in particular are the island’s PINK sand beaches. The natural hue comes from “crushed coral and fragments of shells that mix with the island’s soft, white sand.” ©Disney Pineapple Power Gaskins goes on to discuss the importance of pineapples to the island. As the expert explains, the island has a long history of pineapple farming and is one of the only islands in the Bahamas to sustain pineapples. In fact, each year the island hosts a whole Pineapple Festival! If you’re a big pineapple fan, you may want to try to plan your visit to match up with the festival in future years if possible. (It’s a bit too late for 2024, as this year’s edition of the event takes place from June 7th to 8th, days after Lighthouse Point at Lookout Cay officially opens. @tourismtodaybahamas Instagram Natural Wonders One of the best-known natural phenomena on the island is the massive Ocean Hole, a naturally forming blue hole, near the Rock Sound area of Eleuthera. As Gaskins explains, “Many Rock Sound residents learned how to swim in this beautiful hole, which has a higher salt content that makes it more buoyant than seawater.” Disney Parks Blog Not too far from the Ocean Hole is Cathedral Cave, a massive natural rock structure that features “soaring, wide ceilings, cascading tree roots and glittering filtered sunlight.” Both the Cathedral Cave and the Ocean Hole are available to visit and offered as part of the port adventures offered to you as a Disney Cruise Line passenger. Disney Parks Blog The Glass Window Bridge Arguably Eleuthera’s most famous natural landmark, the Glass Window Bridge is a 30 ft. wide strip of rock that sits between the Atlantic Ocean on one side and the Bight of Eleuthera and Exuma Sound on the other, creating a glorious juxtaposition between the two bodies of water and their distinct colors. Not only can you visit the Glass Window Bridge on your Disney Cruise, you can also see artwork of this gorgeous natural wonder – – painted by Eleutheran artist Kevin Cooper – – on display in the Lookout Point cabanas, as well as being available for purchase. Rainbow Bridge, Bahamas.com These are just some of the wonders of Eleuthera that will be available to you on a Disney Cruise that includes a stop at Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point. 18. Okay, it’s time to have a real talk about Disney World. Rise of the Resistance Yes, Disney World IS The Most Magical Place on Earth, but let’s just say some things have happened…and well, we’ve been through some things. We’ve had some very questionable drinks and snacks, obviously (because we do try to eat EVERYTHING). We’ve also had some strange experiences. But let’s talk about rides. We’ve also had some pretty bad ride experiences. So we’ve decided to share those with you (because we’re suckers for punishment). Multiple evacuations from Rise of the Resistance Rise of the Resistance is one of Disney’s most technologically advanced rides. You know what that means? It means this ride can have a lot of technical problems, resulting in downtime. Well, we were SO stoked to ride Rise of the Resistance one day and the first time, we made it all the way to the part where the Resistance has captured you and they’re corraling you through their ship. Then the ride closed and we were evacuated. Rise of the Resistance closes a LOT We came back to ride later, and we made it all the way to the point where you actually get on the ride vehicles. Then the ride vehicles didn’t move and…yep, we were evacuated again. Like they say, though, the third time’s the charm, but by that time, we just wanted to get through the whole ride and get on with the rest of our day, much of which had been wasted. This is what happens with this ride often, though. So be prepared for down time and make sure you know what to do if you’ve paid for the Individual Lightning Lane option for it. Individual Lightning Lane RULES You Should Know Before You Go to Disney World Slinky Dog taking up the entire day Slinky Dog Dash is usually a must in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, but we had one incident where we regretted even trying to ride it. So we got up early and rope dropped Hollywood Studios and headed straight to get in line for Slinky Dog Dash, which can have long lines even first thing in the morning. We waited in line for a while, and then it closed. Again, ride closures happen. But it stayed closed for almost half a day, and we wasted a lot of time just trying to ride it. Slinky Dog Dash If this happens to you, it might be best to just throw your hands up in the air and choose not to ride something that seems to be having a lot of problems. There are plenty of other things to do in Hollywood Studios, but if it is a priority, you’ll just have to understand that it could seriously impact the rest of your day. Why People LOVE Slinky Dog Dash in Hollywood Studios Finally noticing a gruesome detail in Haunted Mansion So we’ve been on Haunted Mansion a LOT and have ridden it multiple times. But there was a point where we had never looked up during the stretching room scene. So you know that part where the Ghost Host says “Of course, there’s always my way?” The room went dark and lightning struck, and we finally looked up and saw the body hanging from a rope. Is this haunted room actually stretching? So we actually screamed because we did NOT expect that (yes, it’s a shame we’d never noticed it before, but it left us feeling unsettled). We’re genuinely surprised that Disney has still chosen to stick with this VERY DARK detail, but it certainly adds that spooky effect to the mansion. We’re Spilling BACKSTAGE SECRETS of Haunted Mansion in Magic Kingdom! Getting stuck on “it’s a small world” Okay, a lot of people will refer to “it’s a small world” as the worst ride in Disney World, but we actually think it’s charming…mostly. That is until something goes wrong and the next thing you know, the ride is stuck and you’re watching dolls dance around and sing that song over and over and over and over. Imagine 90 minutes of this over and over We were once stuck on “it’s a small world” for 90 minutes, and let’s just say we never want to ride it — or hear that song — again. We still have nightmares about it… If you do get stuck on the ride, well, you just have to wait until Cast Members instruct you on what to do next. Disney World Guests Share Which Rides They Enjoy Getting STUCK On Primeval Whirl There used to be a ride in Disney’s Animal Kingdom in DinoLand, U.S.A. called Primeval Whirl. It was a spinning roller coaster that was so intense it earned the nickname “Primeval Hurl.” We don’t even have any specific stories about this ride, except that it was ALWAYS a bad ride experience. Primeval Whirl Primeval Whirl was demolished in 2021, and we might have held a party celebrating its demise. Nobody Is Talking About This HUGE Disney World Expansion Plan Body slamming on Big Thunder Mountain Railroad Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is the Wildest Ride in the Wilderness, and it’s earned that title because it notoriously swings you around in the ride vehicle that you’re going to end up practically on top of whoever you’re seated with. We once had an issue where a much smaller sibling was on the wrong side of the vehicle and the ride kept throwing us around so we kept body slamming us into that sibling. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad This is also the very reason we do not ride Big Thunder Mountain Railroad with strangers. That is just TOO awkward, thank you very much. So make sure you ride this one with someone you’re very comfortable with. No One Knows This Secret About Big Thunder Mountain Railroad in Magic Kingdom Almost getting sick on Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure is a 3D ride, and normally, those kind of rides don’t bother us. Star Tours? No problem! Toy Story Midway Mania — we love it! But there is something just nausea-inducing about the 3D images on Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure that nearly made us throw up on the ride. Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure So we’re warning you that this ride could cause motion sickness, even if you don’t normally get motion sickness on other similar rides. The best thing you can do is what we did: close your eyes and wait until it’s over. Closing your eyes will help reset your equilibrium. PHOTOS & VIDEOS: Go INSIDE Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure in Disney World With Us! Getting rained on while riding Slinky Dog Dash So we finally managed to get on Slinky Dog Dash after waiting a bit and we’re sitting in the ride vehicle when it suddenly begins pouring (yep, one of those random Florida storms). But the ride starts up and gets going, so not only are we getting soaked, but each rain pellet feels like a little knife slicing into us because we’re going so fast. Not so much fun in the rain Then, there’s those few minutes where the ride vehicle sits outside the unloading station and we had to continue to get soaked until we pulled back into the station to exit the ride. Pro tip: always check the weather ahead of time and know that if there is even a remote chance of rain in Disney World, it very well could rain. Otherwise, just grin and bear it and laugh about it later, like we did. 8 Things You’ll Regret Not Having With You When It Rains In Disney World So there you have it: Those times when we had a bad time on Disney World rides. Granted, a bad day in Disney World is better than a day anywhere else, so when you look at it from that perspective, it’s not that bad at all. 19. It’s a HUGE day at Tokyo Disney Resort: a brand new land…well, technically, THREE new lands have opened today in Tokyo DisneySea in a new expansion called Fantasy Springs. Peter Pan’s Never Land Fantasy Springs is Tokyo Disney Sea’s BIGGEST expansion and features lands dedicated to Peter Pan, Tangled, and Frozen. The expansion also includes a brand-new hotel INSIDE Fantasy Springs, Tokyo DisneySea Fantasy Springs Hotel. Well, now that Fantasy Springs is officially open, let’s take a good look at this massive new magical world. Opening Day Crowds Overall, the crowds we saw at the entrance to Fantasy Springs were relatively calm. It might look like there are a lot of people here, but it really isn’t as many as we expected. Time to go inside One thing we did notice was that Mobile Order for all three Fantasy Springs dining locations, including the Snuggly Duckling, filled up quickly. The Royal Banquet of Arendelle was sold out by 10:30AM, while the other two, the Snuggly Duckling and Lookout Cookout were sold out by 3PM. So if you do plan on dining in Fantasy Springs, you’ll want to get those Mobile Orders in ASAP. Note that you cannot eat at any of these restaurants unless you have Mobile Order — you won’t even be allowed to walk inside (or rather, we weren’t allowed to on opening day). That could change at some point. Snuggly Duckling Let’s talk about ride wait times — they were minimal, usually 30 minutes max. We had priority access to all the rides with our vacation package and our wait times were no longer than 10 minutes. So, yes, opening day is way calmer than we would have expected, but we have NO complaints about that! Rapunzel’s Lantern Festival We saw short lines most of the day for Fantasy Springs Gifts. Here’s how it worked — once you get to the front of the line, you get a merchandise ticket that allows you one transaction (but you can buy as many things as you want with that one transaction, although we did see some items that had a limit of one per transaction). Fantasy Springs gifts We also saw that Fantasy Springs merchandise at one of the big stores at the entrance to Tokyo DisneySea — that store had a SUPER long line to get in (because folks who didn’t get into the land still wanted to buy merchandise). Okay, so what all is there to do in Fantasy Springs? Let’s take a look! Frozen Kingdom Let’s head on over to Frozen Kingdom, where we can visit the Kingdom of Arendelle. Here, you’ll be able to ride Anna and Elsa’s Frozen Journey which tells the story of the first Frozen movie and how sisterly love can save the day. This ride is similar to Frozen Ever After in EPCOT. Let’s just say this ride wowed us! Every scene is so emotional Once you’ve worked up an appetite, you can make your way over to the Royal Banquet of Arendelle, where you can dine inside Anna and Elsa’s castle. You’ll get to be part of a celebratory banquet and enjoy Arendelle’s Royal Set, a meal served in a basket full of appetizers, entrées, and dessert. Royal Banquet of Arendelle You can also grab some snacks from Oaken’s OK Foods. Yoo-hoo! Read our full review of the Royal Banquet of Arendelle Rapunzel’s Forest Take a deep dive into the world of Tangled by visiting Rapunzel’s Forest complete with a tower — THAT ACTUALLY HAS RAPUNZEL IN IT. (Disney World, take notes). We’ll warn you now, though, you are going to LOSE YOUR MIND when you ride Rapunzel’s Lantern Festival, which follows Rapunzel and Flynn Rider on their romantic boat ride to the Lantern Festival. Rapunzel’s Lantern Festival Also, we FINALLY have a Snuggly Duckling restaurant. We waited our WHOLE LIVES for this restaurant to exist, and now, it does. It’s a quick-service dining spot with a dessert served in a frying pan (how can you resist?). But most importantly, the restaurant has a TON of amazing details you have to check out. Inside The Snuggly Duckling There’s even Duckling’s Dream Cheeseburger, which comes served in a duck yellow bun. We love it! Read our review of the Snuggly Duckling Peter Pan’s Never Land The third land in Fantasy Springs takes you deep into the heart of Never Land. Here, you can explore a pirate ship (NO, REALLY!), as well as ride the incredible Peter Pan’s Neverland Adventure. This ride uses a combination of classic scenery with 3D, and we’ll tell you now, it feels so immersive. I’m FLYING! You can also enjoy the absolutely charming Fairy Tinker Bell’s Busy Buggies, where you’ll get to be like Tinker Bell and deliver packages to the four sections of Pixie Hollow (which are all based on the seasons). This ride is worth it just for the scenery. It’s so fun! The winter area! You can also visit The Lost Boys’ secret hideaway to get a quick meal at Lookout Cookout. This is another dining spot where you’ll just want to look around to see all the details. It feels like The Lost Boys live here! If you get a chance to visit, be sure to just walk around a bit. Lookout Cookout The Snack Boxes here are pretty good, too. JOIN US for our first visit to Lookout Cookout! Characters Okay, so you can’t visit a Disney Park without seeing characters, right? Well, the head honcho and his main squeeze, Mickey and Minnie, are meeting guests in their Fantasy Springs outfits. ©Disney We also ran into some princesses out by the Fantasy Springs Hotel, including Ariel… Ariel …and Rapunzel. 21. June is a BIG month for Disney World, with several new additions! EPCOT Not only are we getting the opening of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at Magic Kingdom, but we’re also going to FINALLY have all the construction walls down in EPCOT! CommuniCore Hall and CommuniCore Plaza (the last parts of the EPCOT transformation) are set to open officially on June 10th. And ahead of that day, some construction walls have already come down! Around some sections of CommuniCore Hall, the construction walls have been taken down and replaced with rolling hedges. These are usually the final barrier Disney uses before something opens to the public. The walls are coming down! The hedges aren’t very tall, and if you’re on the taller side, you’ll be able to see CommuniCore Hall as you walk past. Here’s a glimpse at what looks to be an outdoor queue area! This spot will be home to the Mickey & Friends meet and greet area. Look how far it has come! Further down the building, we were able to get a full view of the CommuniCore Hall sign and entrance. We love the Spaceship Earth-inspired tilework on the building here! The font for the sign is the same as all the other new signs in the park. The other side In just a few days, we’ll be able to step inside and check everything out — we can’t wait! The opening of CommuniCore Hall will also come with the opening of CommuniCore Plaza, which will premiere a brand-new Encanto-inspired show. We can’t wait to step inside! We’ll make sure to bring you more updates as we get closer to the grand opening, so stay tuned to DFB for the latest! We’ll keep you in the loop. Click Here to Learn More About CommuniCore! You can place one person in charge of Mobile Orders, one person can be in charge of selecting your Lightning Lanes if you choose to purchase Genie+, and one person can be in charge of checking the hours of operation for parks, attractions, entertainment, and restaurants. The list goes on and on. Bring Rain Gear Unfortunately, it does rain quite a bit in Florida, especially in the summertime. Don’t let a rain shower get in the way of your trip! Remember to pack rain gear before you leave! Rainy day in Magic Kingdom Ponchos and umbrellas sold at the parks can be expensive. Bringing them from home can save you money and the stress of having to go out in the rain to purchase the rain gear when that summer shower starts. Rainy day at Disney Springs As a tip we also recommend bringing a hat with you to wear underneath your poncho or rain jacket to keep the rain off your face and to help you see better. Ponchos in Disney World Click Here to View Our Rainy Day Essentials Amazon Storefront Page! Wear Comfortable Shoes When visiting the parks you will be doing A LOT of walking, and we mean A LOT, so get ready to track those steps! Since you will spend the majority of the day on your feet, you will want to make sure you get a comfortable pair of walking shoes before you leave for your trip. Crowds walking on Main Street Our reporters like to wear shoes like Chacos, Hokas, or On Clouds to the parks to relieve stress on their feet. People walking in Magic Kingdom Don’t know what shoes to bring? Don’t worry! We have you covered! Click Here to See Our Amazon Storefront Best Shoes Page! Hydrate and Wear Sunscreen Florida is HOT and like we said you will be doing a lot of walking on your trip and spend quite a bit of time outside. Take care of your body and make sure to hydrate and drink plenty of water and wear sunscreen! Stay hydrated! If you forget your sunscreen at home, you can always purchase it at the Disney World hotel gift shops. If you are visiting the water parks, the gift shops there also have sunscreen. Sunscreen in Disney Springs Wear sunscreen and drink water even if it is a cloudy day. We want you to enjoy your trip without getting sunburnt! Sunscreen is your friend! Free Water in the Parks We know we just told you to hydrate so of course we are going to let you in on a not-so-little secret. Did you know that you can get FREE water at Disney World? That is right! Don’t forget your free water At most quick-service dining locations you can ask a Cast Member for a cup of ice water. They will either hand you the water themselves or sometimes there are water stations set up. Water station Did you bring your own water bottle? You can actually refill it in the parks at one of the many refill stations located throughout all the parks. Remember when we mentioned some of the highlights of the My Disney Experience app? The app can show you a map of where these refill stations are making it even easier for you to fill your bottle! Where to Find the Best Free Water in EPCOT Take Rest Days With all this walking in the Florida heat, you are going to get tired, and that is okay! You are on vacation so wanting to rest and relax is completely normal! Take a day to rest at the pool! If time allows, we recommend planning a rest day or two during your trip. These days are a great way to catch up on sleep, spend time at the pool, or even check out some of the other hotels! Your feet will thank you! Pool days are a great way to spend your vacation! If you don’t have time to add rest days to your trip, you could always take a mid-day break. Head back to your hotel for a nap or spend the afternoon in the pool. Another great mid-day break is planning a meal at a hotel near the park. For example, if you are in Magic Kingdom, you can take the monorail over to one of the three monorail hotels and grab a bite to eat in the AC! Disney’s Contemporary Resort Set an Alarm to Make Lightning Lane Selections If you plan to purchase Genie+, you will get to make new Lightning Lane selections either every 120 minutes or when you use your latest selection (this only works if you only have one selection made.) Genie+ Everything You Need to Know about Genie, Genie+, and Lightning Lane For example, let’s say you make a Lightning Lane Selection for Tower of Terror at 10 AM and your return time is 2 PM, you can make a new selection at 12 PM. Tower of Terror Or, let’s say you make a Lightning Lane selection for Haunted Mansion at 9 AM and your return time is 9:30 AM. You can make a new Lightning Lane selection once you scan in. Haunted Mansion As soon as you make a selection, make sure to set an alarm to remind yourself of when you should make your next selection. This will help ensure you can get as many Lightning Lane selections as you will be picking new ones as soon as your window opens. Ask PhotoPass Cast Members to Also Take Pictures on Your Phone Of course, you will want to take a lot of photos to remember your trip to Disney World and look back on all the magical memories you made! PhotoPass Cast Member If you do not want to pay for your PhotoPass photos, that is totally okay! You can still wait in line for a photo or a character with a PhotoPass Cast Member. Simply let the Cast Member take your photo with their camera and then politely ask them to also take a photo on your phone. PhotoPass This is a great way to ensure your whole family is in the picture so someone does not have to sit out to be the one to take it. It also means that you will not need to ask a stranger to take your phone. PhotoPass Just remember to be kind when you ask, and the Cast Member will be happy to take the picture on your own device! Be Kind to Cast Members Speaking of asking Cast Members, it is always important to treat Cast Members with kindness. Cast Members truly do make the magic and deserve to be treated kindly and with respect. 23. Disney World has been very busy building something HUGE over at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. ©Disney The resort is getting a whole new building with new Disney Vacation Club (DVC) villas. We’ve been following the construction of the project ever since it began, and Disney even recently revealed the new building will be called Island Tower and will officially open in December 2024 (which isn’t as far away as it might seem). Up to ow, only select groups of Disney World visitors have been able to book rooms in Island Tower, but today, EVERYONE can book one of these brand new rooms. Island Tower will “complete the vision created by Disney Imagineers decades ago while embracing the rich culture from the Polynesian Islands.” The building’s exterior and interior will have designs created exclusively for it that will even include “a gorgeous Manta Ray that symbolizes freedom, protection and grace.” The lobby will have “an art panel installation on the ceiling inspired by several Polynesian Islands, showcasing wildlife native to each locale.” ©Disney You’ll be able to choose from a variety of room types including rooms that can sleep from two to nine guests. You’ll find duo studios, one- and two-bedroom villas, and even some brand new two-bedroom penthouse villas. Luxurious, right? If that sounds like something that’s right up your alley, you can book right now by visiting the Disney World website. Construction Continues! Many of those rooms will have views of Seven Seas Lagoon, meaning they’ll also probably have amazing views of the Magic Kingdom fireworks. There will also be a new pool, and in concept art, we also saw some chairs along the waterfront for those who want to sit by the water and watch the fireworks. Disney has also promised some new dining spots, although we don’t yet have confirmation of what those dining spots will be, but we expect to see at least one new restaurant (and you know that gets us excited!). More construction Disney also promised “other recreational areas,” but we’re not sure yet what that means. But it sounds like Island Tower could be a sort of destination all in and itself and if you do book a room there, we’d suggest making sure you add a resort day to your trip so you can explore all what it — and the rest of Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort — has to offer. We’ll be keeping an eye out for more details about Disney World’s newest hotel rooms, so stay tuned to DFB for more. 24. We saw a clue about a NEW bar in Disney Springs recently, and now it’s been confirmed! Disney Springs Raglan Road is a popular table service restaurant in Disney Springs, and it has an adjoining quick service spot (Cookes of Dublin) along with a bar area (The Hole in the Wall). Now, there’s another addition coming to the Raglan Road complex! We saw construction walls up near Raglan Road, and there was a notice on them that they were covering the location of the new Paddy’s Bar. We reached out to find more information about this new spot! Ongoing construction Paddy’s Bar is going to be a new permanent outdoor bar (replacing the mobile bar) situated just in front of the Shop for Ireland gift shop. Paddy’s Bar It’ll have six to eight seats and will only serve a limited menu of drinks — so if you want food, you’ll need to head to Raglan Road or Cookes of Dublin. The drinks menu here will feature “the very best of Irish draft beers along with locally commissioned craft beers – plus our unique array of Irish cocktails.” ©Raglan Road The bar is named after the poet Patrick Kavanagh, who wrote the poem “Raglan Road.” It’s going to open pretty soon! They expect it to be ready for guests this fall (2024). If you’ve visited Raglan Road before, you know that some furniture and several decorative elements were sent over from Ireland in order to make it feel as authentic as possible. Similarly, many elements of the new bar are going to be sent over from Ireland. ©Raglan Road This isn’t the only construction project going on in Disney Springs, though.
