  1. Here at DFB, we make it our mission to do quality control food reviews in Disney World from time to time! Cinderella Castle That means we visit restaurants that we’ve been to before and retry our old favorite snacks, just to make sure they’re still up to par! The one consistent thing about Disney World food is that it changes all the time. And that’s exactly why I went to The Lunching Pad at Magic Kingdom recently! Last summer, The Lunching Pad introduced a Mike Wazowski Cake for $8.29. It’s an orange blossom-mango mousse cake with a candy eye. And when we first got one, it was a bit of a melty disaster. Oh Jeez The mousse inside was definitely not moussing, and the whole thing sort of fell apart on us. But this summer, we’re back to try again! Well, There He Goes For round two, things are already off to a better start! Look how well he’s holding together. The decoration is actually quite cute, and it’s accomplished thanks to a white chocolate shell. SO much better! When I cracked open the 2024 Mike Wazowski Cake, he actually held together — go Mike! The green shell just tasted like white chocolate and it was nice and thin and easy to cut open. The white part of the mousse inside was mostly a plain vanilla flavor, but the orange blossom-mango REALLY comes through strong in the orange section of the treat. That bit is more of a gelatin consistency and it’s a STRONG tart flavor, on the verge of sour. It looks WAY better I think the elements work well together and balance each other, but you might want to avoid it if you don’t like strong fruit flavors or tart treats. I’m seriously impressed with how well Mike held together in the heat this year, as compared to last year! So this is why it’s important for us to go back and try snacks again — you never know how they might change! We’ll keep you updated with more food reviews from Disney World, so stay tuned. 24 Snacks You Need in Disney World in 2024 — Click Here! 2. It’s officially June, which means that the Pride Month celebrations have officially started over at Disney World! Happy Pride Month Throughout the month of June, you’ll be able to snag a variety of celebratory rainbow treats throughout the parks and hotels. Well, we tried two of them, and we’re here to let you in on our hot takes. The two snacks we’ll be trying today are both dome treats, but the mission today is to determine which is BETTER. You ready? Let’s head to Magic Kingdom to try the first one! Over at Main Street Bakery in Magic Kingdom, which is where the park’s Starbucks is located, you can grab the Pride Dome for $5.99. Pride Dome! This is a dark chocolate and strawberry mousse, flourless chocolate cake, and rainbow glaçage. It looks cute, but we’re not sure how all that chocolate will hold up in the summer heat, or if we’ll be fans of that much chocolate! It’s cute, but will it be good? Well, if you’re not at least a medium fan of chocolate, you probably won’t like this. It’s a dark chocolate dome shell on top of a chocolate mousse with a small strawberry mousse center. The flourless chocolate cake at the bottom is very thin but serves as a good-enough base. The black ribbon around the dome and the milk chocolate Mickey face melt really fast. It’s a good price for the size of the treat, and it’s very cute, it’s just RICH. Pride Dome Listen, unless you really, really, really love chocolate, you might want to skip this one. Seriously. Next, we’re heading on over to Disney’s Animal Kingdom! Over at Creature Comforts (where the Starbucks is located in Animal Kingdom), you can get the Pride Mousse Dome for $5.99. Pride Mousse Dome This is a lemon chiffon cake, raspberry lemonade mousse, white chocolate glaze, and rainbow sprinkles. Already, this one is the winner because of how CUTE it is! We think the rainbow looks better against the lighter colors of the treat — it makes it POP more. So cute! But…how does it taste? Well, this one is a much lighter treat and held up incredibly well against the sun and heat. The raspberry lemonade flavor is very interesting, but so delicious! It tastes great paired with the white chocolate and lemon chiffon cake. The lemon chiffon made it much more of a complex dessert as opposed to a standard vanilla cake base, and we’re so glad they opted for it. The cake here is MUCH thicker than the chocolate one on the other treat, which is good if you like more cake than mousse. Yum! This one is definitely our choice between the two. It’s much lighter, holds up better in the heat, and honestly has a better, more complex taste as opposed to the one that’s just rich chocolate. What do you say? Which one do you think YOU’D like more? We’ll be sure to keep you updated with more Disney news and advice, so make sure to follow along so that you’re always in the loop and never miss a thing! 3. Dear Disney…we have something to say. It’s not every day that we feel the need to write to you, but you’ve done something that has us pretty sad, and we can’t NOT bring it to your attention. Now, this isn’t the first time this type of thing has happened (we will forever remember the Wendell’s Bear Claw that is no more). We’ve seen some great menu items get taken away before. We get it; you have to change up your menus occasionally to keep things fresh, but there’s one food item that we thought was non-negotiable, and yet, here we are, having this conversation (which we did NOT want to have). So we’ll preface this by reminding you how excited we were when we first saw the Loaded Burnt Ends Fries at Regal Eagle Smokehouse in the American Adventure in EPCOT. Sam the Eagle himself would appreciate this delicious snack that also doubles as a meal. What’s not to love when you combine Seasoned French Fries with Burnt Ends, Macaroni & Cheese, and Beer-battered Onion Rings? This was literally the best combo of things EVER. Loaded Burnt End Fries To say that we were in love was an understatement. These fries were SO good, and the mac ‘n cheese balanced out their saltiness. Then there was the meat, and we could not imagine anything more perfect. To quote Taylor Swift, “Who are we to fight The Alchemy?” PERFECTION, Disney, it was within your grasp! These are loaded! Alas, though, Disney did the one thing that broke our hearts. The Loaded Burnt End Fries disappeared from the menu at Regal Eagle, and we haven’t seen them since — and believe us, we’ve been checking EVERY DAY. It’s not just us, though, either. A lot of our readers also want to know why this beloved menu item has disappeared and would like to see it return. Burnt Ends Fries at Regal Eagle So, what do we have to do to convince Disney to bring this yummy snack back? Who do we have to speak to? Do we need to do a song or dance? We’ll happily pull out our old ’90s dance moves and recreate “I 2 I” from The Goofy Movie in public. We mean, it won’t be pretty, but we’d do it if you would just bring back our beloved loaded fries. Please? Pretty please? Pretty please with a cherry on top? Sincerely and with all our Loaded Burnt End Fries love, DFB. 4. Can you believe it’s time to experience Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at Magic Kingdom?! Tiana’s Bayou Adventure The Princess and the Frog-themed water ride is set to open to everyone on June 28th, 2024 after sets of previews for exclusive groups of Disney fans. Since construction started in early 2023, we’ve been anxiously waiting for the day we got to experience the attraction…and that day is here! We previously got a sneak peek at the animatronics, new characters, queue details, and more, but just as we were getting in line for previews so we could bring you the first-hand experience of this new ride, something unfortunate happened! Today, June 3rd, we were getting ready to ride Tiana’s Bayou Adventure for the very first time! The new ride tells a brand new story that takes place after the ending of The Princess and the Frog. We have been looking forward to going on this adventure with Tiana to find her missing ingredient, a band, for her Mardi Gras party for a while now. We made it to Magic Kingdom and were headed to get in line when we noticed that the ride appeared closed, but the music just started back up again, so we thought we were in the clear. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure in Magic Kingdom Unfortunately, that was not the case. As we were approaching the entrance to the queue, it was announced that the ride was closed, and we were not able to get in the queue! Entrance sign It turned out that they were in fact evacuating the ride, which we were able to see happening outside. Cast Members who were on the ride for previews, were taken off the logs to be escorted off the ride. We had noticed something similar happening yesterday, June 2nd, during other sets of previews. We were shortly told that we could come back to the line entrance where we have been hanging out waiting to find out if we’ll get to ride soon. We will keep you updated as we find out if we can ride the new attraction today! Planning to ride when Tiana’s Bayou Adventure opens at Disney World. There are two ways to do so. You can either purchase Genie+ and make a Lightning Lane reservation for the attraction, or you can join the Virtual Queue at 7AM or 1PM. The Virtual Queue can be TRICKY, especially for brand new rides – learn all about it here. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure FULL RIDE-THROUGH VIDEO! Watch Now! We can’t wait to go down the bayou with Tiana and her friends. If you’re excited, too, make sure to check out our Tiana’s Bayou Adventure tee in our online DFB store! 5. Sometimes, when you’re on vacation, one of the things you look forward to the most in the mornings is a free continental breakfast at your hotel. We love breakfast buffets! But, if you’re like some of us, there’s a part of your brain that won’t stop thinking about who’s been touching all the utensils, and what temperature is everything being kept at? The truth is that any food could give you food poisoning if it’s been handled incorrectly, but if you’re doing all you can to avoid it on your vacation, here are the foods that experts say you should avoid at breakfast buffets. If It’s Supposed To Be Hot Or Cold, MAKE SURE It’s Hot and Cold At many breakfast buffets, you’ll find many hot options like sausage, eggs, bacon, etc., as well as cold options such as yogurt, milk, or juice. While experts don’t say to stay away from these things in entirety, pay close attention to if these options are being kept on a warmer and/or being kept cold to their correct temperature. Bacon and Eggs If you want to be extra safe, you can avoid these options all together, but as long as they’re being kept in a refrigerator or on a stovetop/burner at the correct temperature, you should be good to go. But if they’re just sitting out? That’s a BIG no. Grits and oatmeal Once foods such as these are left out at temperatures 40-140 degrees Fahrenheit for longer than 2 hours, you’re hitting the danger zone. And most buffets are active for much longer than 2 hours at a time, so if you notice things aren’t at their proper temperature, move right along! SOME Fruits and Vegetables Now this one is a little tricky, so we’ll start with the easy part — whole fruits and vegetables like oranges and bananas are all good to eat and have very little risk associated with them. However, cut fruits and things like salad bars are where things get a little more particular. Salad Bar For example — melons are risky because many people don’t wash the rinds (the outside), and if there’s a crack in the outside, bacteria can seep into the inside of the fruit that you’re eating. Salad bars can have a number of fruits and vegetables that may not have been properly washed. Boma’s Salad Bar To play it extra safe, stick with whole, uncut fruits, or stay away from fruits and vegetables that are soggy or hard to clean. Doesn’t Have A Shared Utensil? NOPE. Many items at a buffet need to be grabbed with a utensil to place it directly onto your plate without touching the other food around it. If you happen to notice there’s an offering that doesn’t have a shared utensil, health experts recommend not partaking in that offering. Danishes Just like you’d have to grab the item with your hand, other guests have been doing that too, and there’s no telling what germs they have on their hands. Now, getting sick from this isn’t technically food poisoning, since it’s from other guests, but it does still involve food, and there’s an easy way to avoid it. Croissants For one, only choose options that have a utensil to use to grab the food, BUT there’s a second part. Before you eat ANYTHING, wash your hands! Everyone is touching the different utensils, so those germs could just as easily get on your food and into your mouth if you don’t wash your hands before. We know, we know, your hungry and just want to eat, but it’s worth it in the long run. So What IS Safe? You can’t live your life in fear (well, some of us do and can’t help it, but YOU probably shouldn’t if you can help it), but taking precautions to avoid getting sick and ruining your trip is worth it to us. Breakfast Buffet Options We know we cut out a lot of the offerings at your hotel buffet, but experts say that some of the safest options to choose are pre-packaged muffins and yogurt offerings (kept at the correct temperature), and we’d also like to add on that bread offerings such as croissants and danishes are also okay left at room temperature, so as long as they have tongs, you’re good to go! Biscuits While food poisoning can and unfortunately does happen at Disney World, Disney restaurants typically hold themselves to a very high standard, so we’d like to THINK that it’s less likely to get food poisoning from improperly handled food at Disney World, but mistakes do happen. There’s probably a far greater risk of getting sick from germs spread by other people visiting Disney World, which is why hand washing is so important! We’re always here to keep you updated on the latest Disney news, so stay tuned to DFB! 9. We talk all the time about the benefits of getting free water cups in Disney World so you’re not paying for a water bottle every time you need a drink (which is A LOT, especially during summertime). Water in the parks Bringing a reusable water bottle is fantastic just for this occasion, but did you know that there’s also an egregious amount you can pay for water in ONE spot in the parks? And no, it’s not the cost of buying a ton of water bottles throughout your trip (although that gets expensive too) — water at this one Disney World restaurant costs $120! Victoria & Albert’s is the most expensive dining location in Disney World, costing a minimum of $295 per guest. This is a AAA 5-diamond rating restaurant that has been recognized by the Michelin Guide, and is located right at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. Menu Wine packages for this experience start at an additional $155 per guest, while zero-proof options start at $115 per guest. While there are over 500 pairings to choose from that span 35 countries, there’s another exclusive offering that blows our minds. Plant-Based Menu While the “House Water” is included with your meal (thank GOODNESS), there’s a whole Still Water Menu. You can see pricing starting around $9 to try water from all around the world. Seriously — ALL over the world! Italy, Scotland, Wales, Denmark, Croatia, and more. But there’s ONE type of water on that menu that’s from a Svalbardi Polar Iceberg. It’s up to 4,000 years old (!!!) and one 750 ml glass will cost you a whopping $120. Water Menu at Victoria & Albert’s YEAH. $120 for ONE GLASS OF WATER. Does anyone actually purchase this? When is it worth it? Well, we’re sure someone out there buys it, because otherwise we don’t think it would have stayed on the menu this long. However, every time one of our reporters or team members has dined at this location, they’ve considered the water to not be worth it. Victoria & Albert’s Especially since you could get an entire pairing of zero-proof options for LESS! Now, if you’re a water connoisseur, no judgement, this may be a bucket list item for you, because where else can you try water that’s older than the Phoenician alphabet? (We just did so much research to make sure that ONE sentence was correct.) The Chef’s Table Otherwise, we think trying some of the other waters on the list is a great way to have a more unique experience if you’re not interested in the wine or zero-proof pairings. But if you couldn’t care less about what type of water you’re drinking with your already-expensive meal, just stick with the House Water! 12. We’re BIG fans of all things Disney snacks, which is why we’re called Disney FOOD Blog! Mango Dole Whip Float However, not all snacks are built the same. We certainly have our fair share of snacks that we’re NOT fans of, the snacks that we love that other people don’t (and vice versa), but there are a few snacks out there that are practically perfect according to just about everybody. Of course, one of the snacks that qualifies as “practically perfect” has to be Dole Whip! This is a classic, iconic Disney World treat that’s been around for decades. It’s perfect on a hot day! A CLASSIC Dole Whips also come in a variety of different flavors and forms. You can grab just a regular pineapple Dole Whip, or you can mix it up and grab a Dole Whip Float! We’ve seen them served with and without alcohol, in regular cups and in bathtubs (not kidding), and Swirls on the Water in Disney Springs will even let you grab a sampler flight to try three different flavors at once! Dole Whip Bathtub Sundae And for all our friends who are lactose intolerant, regular Dole Whip has no dairy in it, so you can enjoy to your heart’s content! Dole Whip Float But there’s another snack we can’t avoid mentioning because it’s ALSO perfect, if a bit more basic. That’s a Mickey Premium Bar! Mickey Premium Bar These can be found all over the Disney World parks and hotels — even at your local grocery store in many areas because they’re THAT iconic! These are relatively simple, just vanilla ice cream inside a chocolate shell, but BOY are they good! Mickey ice cream bar However, you can also grab a Mickey Ice Cream Sandwich if you’re looking for something a little different, but still familiar. This is cookies and cream ice cream between two chocolate sandwich cookies. Mickey Ice Cream Sandwich Both of these are great nostalgic treats to satisfy your sweet tooth if you’re looking for something classic, but there are plenty of other, just as delicious, options out there! Allow us to introduce you to some more of our favorite snacks that are beloved by nearly everyone (or should be)! Cheshire Cat Tail Another simple treat that just has a hint of Disney magic — the Cheshire Cat Tail can be found at Cheshire Cafe in Fantasyland in Magic Kingdom. It’s a chocolate pastry twist with drizzled purple and pink frosting on it. The Cheshire Cat Tail is an iconic Magic Kingdom snack Is it something you could also grab at the grocery store? Probably, but if you’ve got a picky kid (or you’re picky yourself) and you want a reliable start to the morning, this is the way to go! Gaston’s Cinnamon Roll Over at Gaston’s Tavern in Magic Kingdom’s Fantasyland, you’ll find a Warm Cinnamon Roll that the vast majority of the Disney World population refers to as Gaston’s Cinnamon Roll. Why? Because it’s MASSIVE! Gaston’s Tavern — Warm Cinnamon Roll This one is easily shareable and it’s a delicious way to start your day. Don’t forget to ask for some extra icing if you like your cinnamon rolls extra sweet! Chicken Fried Rice Over in Animal Kingdom, you’ll find some amazing Chicken Fried Rice at Yak and Yeti Local Foods Cafe (the quick service location, not the table service spot)! Chicken Fried Rice While this is just a side item, it’s easily large enough for a small meal! It’s a little more adventurous than some other options, but still familiar enough to appease picky eaters. Liege Waffle If you’re looking for a little something sweet but not TOO sweet, head over to Connections Cafe in EPCOT for the Liege Waffle! Orange Bird Liege Waffle This waffle is a relatively small size, but WOW is it good! Soft, pillowy, sweet — it’s just perfection in waffle form. Sometimes it changes based on the season or a special event, but it’s still the same base recipe. Please don’t pass this one up! This is your ultimate guide to waffles in Disney World! 13. Planning a vacation at Disney World is hard enough, but couple that with the intense heat, sweat, and summer crowds, and you could instantly have a recipe for disaster. While most people believe that planning a vacation at Disney World begins and ends with the logistics of getting your hotel accommodations and park tickets, figuring out your best transportation options, and mastering the art of advance dining reservations and Genie+, oftentimes there’s a whole other element missed in the chaos of it all. Cinderella Castle Knowing your stresses, limits, and how certain outside factors physically work against you can be key to understanding how to not only dress for but survive the physical toll being in the Disney World parks can take on your body — without turning you into something that resembles a bridge troll a few hours into your day. DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. We’re out in the Disney World parks every single day, so who better to take advice from than the folks who are truly the “boots on the ground”! Here’s a peek into all of our favorite things we use to keep us from looking like scary trolls and letting the elements win! Trolls First, we’ve got to talk about our hair. Orlando is certainly known to be hot but what most people don’t account for is the way that wave of humidity hits you like a ton of bricks (even early in the morning). If you’ve got hair that just can’t be tamed in such conditions, these are our recommendations. Heatless curls are a game-changer for styling your hair at Disney World! ©Amazon If you’re not already acquainted with these revolutionary curlers, do yourself a favor and get introduced now! Kitsch makes some of our favorites inspired by Disney princesses! Plus, they’re super easy to pop in before bed, leave on overnight, and unroll the next morning! It also doesn’t hurt that they travel light, too. See them HERE Kitsch also makes scrunchies for a super quick up-do! ©Amazon These satin scrunchies are so soft for your hair and they’re also part of the same Disney Princess-inspired collection. They’re great to wear as a trendy accessory until you need to put your hair up and won’t put too much strain on your head while you wear them. See them HERE Maybe you’re looking for a Disney-inspired hair clip? We use those, too! ©Amazon These cute hair barrettes make a great, subtle nod to your Disney obsession! We can’t resist how cute they are with their silver and gold colors and those tiny little Minnie Mouse bows clipped in each of their ears. See them HERE Now that we’ve tamed the hair beast, it’s time to refocus on another physical toll the Orlando weather will take on your body. Most likely, you don’t normally walk quite as much as you will in one park day’s worth in quite some time. Heed our advice, don’t try to “tough it out” when there’s super reliable help that can make a HUGE difference so easily. Megababe is literally a lifesaver for our bodies. No. We’re not being overdramatic. ©Amazon This stuff is like magic for your body! Not only will it help you with your friction woes, but it’s also so discrete that no one will know. There’s no residue left behind and the stick is so compact and travels just like a stick of deodorant. We’re huge fans of taking this little thing around with us to the Disney World parks and popping by the bathroom when we’re ready to reapply it. Plus, it works in all sorts of places you might get irritated from chaffing, sweat, and general irritation that you don’t typically plan to encounter just by walking. See it HERE Speaking of bodies, we can’t leave out our faces! So how exactly are we making sure that our makeup doesn’t melt right off? The answer is so simple. We don’t know what we’d do without this E.L.F. Primer! @amazon If you do one single thing beyond applying sunscreen to your face while visiting Disney World, this is it! This primer is our supreme choice for makeup that’s toughened up to withstand the sweat, heat, and even sporadic rain showers that Disney World is so famously known to experience. It’s built to hydrate and brighten, and did we also mention that it’s made using a vegan formula? Yeah, it’s that good! See it HERE You won’t believe how well this lip gloss will last you either! ©Amazon Why bother with messy lipstick when this E.L.F. lip stain works so well! This stuff is literally the most ideal to stand up against the outside elements and is so compact, that you probably will forget you even packed it with you! But don’t take our word for it, find the shade that calls to you and test it out yourself (but then also come back and tell us how much you love it, too). See it HERE To keep our lips from chapping, we use a GREAT lip balm! ©Amazon Mad Beauty makes an adorable duo of vanilla and honey-scented lip balms that couldn’t come in a more fitting package! They’re both molded like little pots of “Hunny” like Winnie The Pooh likes to snack on, but we don’t recommend eating this product — just apply it to keep your lips silky smooth! See them HERE We’re constantly carrying around a portable fan to beat the heat! ©Amazon Aside from its adorable yet compact design, this portable fan is super handy! It comes with a carrying handle, and the top flips down to protect the twirling fan while also concealing the charging ports that are just underneath. See it HERE But if the heat and sweat really get to us, we can count on these blotting wipes to help us out! ©Amazon NYX makes these blotting papers which are ideal for wiping away sweat and dirt without taking off all of your makeup. They’re made to use as needed and easily tossable when you’re done with them. They’re like a freshening up without having to reapply everything all over again, which we think is genius! See them HERE Now that you know all our tricks to help feeling refreshed, we’ve got to talk about outfit choices. Keeping your ‘fit light and airy while you’re at Disney World can be the difference between surviving and thriving! This is why you’ll catch us wearing Tennis Dresses! ©Amazon This fun outfit is just the right touch of sophisticated yet stylish and comes in so many different colors! It’s super quick to dress up or keep casual, and we can’t get past how charming they look in photos. See it HERE Finding the bag to pair with your outfit is your next challenge! Consider this small belt bag. ©Amazon An adjustable mini belt bag is just the perfect size to hold all of your essentials without creating a waterfall of sweat down your back! This bag is built to be enjoyed as a unisex accessory and we can’t recommend its convenience enough. See it HERE Your feet will LOVE you as long as you have some comfy shoes on! The DFB Team recommends HOKA Ones! We get it– you want to match your cute outfit with some equally stunning shoes… but are they practical? Face it, you’re going to be doing a TON of walking around Disney World and if you don’t want to tap out on day 1 of your vacation you’ve got to take care of your feet! Our team swears by their HOKA sneakers and we think they’re just the right shoe to go casual or fancy with! See them HERE We get the most compliments when we show off characters on our socks — it’s true! ©Amazon Ok, hear us out. Not only are they cute to boot with faces of some of our favorite Disney characters on them, but they’re absorbent and COMFY! Having the right shoes is half the battle but when you pair them up with these socks, you’ve got a winning combination. See them HERE We’re always talking about the latest trends, styles, and how to look your best when visiting Disney World! Be sure to stay tuned with us at Disney Food Blog for all the latest! 14. Ah, EPCOT. Home to an entire World Showcase full of great food, drinks, and Cast Members from all over the world. It’s one of our favorite parts of the park! But let’s be real. Everyone already knows about the hot spots in EPCOT. We’re talking places like La Cava del Tequila, Rose & Crown, and Via Napoli. We don’t need to tell you about the margaritas at the Mexico Pavilion. Judging by the lines we see every day, everyone seems to know that Mexico is the place to be. EPCOT But there are actually other places to get a drink in EPCOT outside of the World Showcase. For example, you can stop by the Space 220 Lounge for some out-of-this-world drinks (we apologize for the pun). In fact, even EPCOT’s quick-service restaurant, Connections Eatery, serves cocktails, but how does the NEW option compare to our old favorites? At $16, we recommend sticking to the drinks you can get in the EPCOT World Showcase instead. There are MUCH better drinks at the Mexico Pavilion (we like the Crystal Inferno from La Cava del Tequila). Was it the worst drink ever? No. But the syrupy peach flavor just didn’t work for us. In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest Disney news, so stay tuned for more. REVIEW: Disney Just Gave 2 Iconic Treats a Sand Art Makeover. Let Us Explain. 16. Whew! What a week! Let’s just say this was THE week everyone was talking about Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. ©Disney The new ride, which will officially open to the public in Magic Kingdom on June 28th, has been a hot topic of conversation, especially after Disney dropped the very first ride through video where we got to see the WHOLE ride. We got to hear all the music, see every scene, and had our minds BLOWN by the gorgeous dress Tiana wears in the ride’s finale. However, the video did confirm one key detail about the ride, too. That’s not to say there might not be other Hidden Mickeys on the ride. We have a feeling we’ll spot a few somewhere because Imagineers love to hide those things anywhere and everywhere, right? We’ll be riding Tiana’s Bayou Adventure soon during early previews of the ride, and we’ll be in Magic Kingdom on the ride’s opening day, so be sure to stay tuned to DFB for more. 17. Attention all Disney World Annual Passholders, you’ll be some of the FIRST to book a stay at the newly renovated Island Tower at Polynesian Resort SOON! ©Disney The Island Tower is the latest and greatest addition coming soon to Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows at Walt Disney World Resort. Currently still under construction (pardon their pixie dust if you’re happening by the resort), this tropical treasure is set to welcome guests in December 2024, although the exact debut remains under wraps. Along with this exciting news, we’ve got word of available booking dates that will hold us over as we excitedly anticipate this new extension of the Polynesian Resort’s paradise! Disney unveiled a first look at the Island Tower on May 10th, 2024, sharing concept art and new details. Inspired by early concept art, this waterside 10-story tower will overlook the breathtaking views of the Seven Seas Lagoon and immerse guests in the celebration of the natural world, and of course, the magic of Disney. The tower will be just a stroll away from the Disney Monorail, providing convenient access to the Magic Kingdom and EPCOT. ©Disney The Island Tower at Polynesian Villas & Bungalows will bring to fruition the vision crafted by Disney Imagineers decades ago. Teaming up with over a dozen artists worldwide, the interior of the tower will feature design details, including art installations made from preserved moss and recycled fishing nets, that will reflect the resort’s commitment to conservation and the celebration of the vibrant culture of the Polynesian Islands. ©Disney In addition, the Island Tower will offer a diverse range of room types that are suitable for two to nine guests. The options available are duo studios, spacious one- and two-bedroom villas, and brand-new two-bedroom penthouse villas. Many of the room types available will also feature spectacular views! Along with this information, Disney has also announced the first dates where guests can book their reservations and for Walt Disney World Annual Passholders, the first day to do so will be June 5th. Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort On June 5th, 2024, Walt Disney World Annual Passholders can start booking rental reservations by contacting (407) 934-7639, and by June 6th, 2024, all guests can reserve online on the Disney World official website or by the same phone number provided. 18. If you’ve visited Disney World recently, you’ll understand just how important the My Disney Experience app is. Magic Kingdom The app is pretty much the handiest tool you can have in Disney World as it pretty much does EVERYTHING for you. You can check in to your hotel, unlock your hotel room door, mobile order food, store your tickets, check ride wait times, get Lightning lane access to rides through Genie+, join virtual queues, and so much more. Okay, well, there was one thing it didn’t do: although you can store your credit card details in the app for payment, you couldn’t save gift card or Disney Rewards card numbers. Well, that has finally changed! You’ve probably come across this problem before. If you had a gift card or Disney Rewards Redemption card, there was no way to store those numbers in the app. That means there was no way for the app to remember that information when paying for things like food, Genie+, or mobile check-out at stores. So, every time you would check out on the app, you would have to manually type in the number (we always suggested having the number stored somewhere on your phone so you could easily copy and paste it). ©Disney We are happy to report that those days are over! You can now store those numbers in My Disney Experience. Here’s how: in the My Disney Experience app, click on the three lines at the bottom right of the screen. Then scroll, scroll, and scroll to find “Account.” Click on “Profile.” Then, you’ll see where you can edit your payment information. Then, you’ll get the option to “Add a new payment method,” including a Disney gift card or Disney Rewards Redemption card. FINALLY. ©Disney In case you don’t know, Disney Rewards Redemption cards are what Disney Visa cardholders get when they redeem their rewards dollars — they basically work like a Disney gift card. The beauty of this new feature is that the app will remember your Disney gift card and Rewards Redemption card numbers, and you won’t have to input them again. This will save you a lot of time and frustration! We love that the My Disney Experience app seems to be adding a lot of great improvements. Recently, Disney added a MyDisney login so that you can use the same login across all Disney websites and apps, as well as Disney+. There’s also a new Mobile Order photo gallery, a way to view all water bottle refill stations, and a filter to list just the rides that use Genie+. Disney has been busy making improvements to the app! Stay tuned to DFB for more. 19. We have exciting news for Disney Vacation Club (DVC) Members! DVC Welcome Center in Disney Springs Over in EPCOT, the DVC Lounge is typically located high up in the Imagination Pavilion. However, from now to July 13th, 2024, this area will be closed due to a planned refurbishment. But don’t worry, the lounge is still active — it’s just moved for now! During this short time, you can head over to The Odyssey to experience the temporary lounge, just like we did! As you head in, you’ll see a sign directing you where to go. It’s open from 11AM to 6PM daily and is only available to DVC members. Let’s head to the lounge! About half of the seating area in The Odyssey has been blocked off for this temporary DVC lounge, while the other half is still open to regular guests. However, this side of the lounge has plenty of perks that the other side does not! Temporary DVC Lounge While this lounge doesn’t provide complimentary phone chargers like the other location did, there are plenty of outlets you can use to charge your phone with your own charger. There’s also plenty of seating to sit down and relax in the air conditioning. Lots of seating! You’ll also find an area to pick up some complimentary snacks and drinks! You can have as many as you like, but you must finish your current snack and soda before grabbing another. Complimentary snacks! This is a great way to relax for a few minutes, get out of the heat, charge your phone, and just get a seat away from larger crowds. Love it! Now, there are no specific snacks available for purchase inside the lounge, but you can bring other food and drink inside to eat! This lounge will be here for around six weeks while the refurbishment in the Imagination Pavilion takes place, and we’ll be sure to keep you updated if anything changes! More Recent DVC News! 20. Is there something in the air? Did AMC give one rogue employee full creative control of the merchandise department? We don’t know what’s going on at the AMC Theaters headquarters, but those mad geniuses seem to know how to get people talking. AMC Theater There’s been a LOT happening with AMC Theaters lately. The Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour concert film was a wild success, and — of all things — an AMC popcorn bucket went totally viral during the Dune 2 release. Even SNL was talking about it! AMC is not afraid to push the envelope. And now, they’ve teased a NEW souvenir that has some real potential to rival the infamous Dune 2 popcorn bucket. Wait until you see it. Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman took to Twitter/X to share a little teaser trailer in association with their NEW Deadpool & Wolverine movie. But this teaser wasn’t a movie trailer. We weren’t treated to a new movie poster or promotional photo. No, this teaser was for a new popcorn bucket. Looks like Deadpool was feeling creative. He designed a new popcorn bucket just for AMC Theaters. Here it is, in all its glory. (Glory? Infamy? We’ll let you decide.) Yes, this is a new Wolverine head popcorn bucket. ©AMC The bucket itself has some text giving credit to the designer, Deadpool. If you want to enjoy some nice, buttery popcorn, well, you can see where the hole is. Interesting choice. ©AMC We have a strong feeling that the internet is going to have a LOT to say about this popcorn bucket. Considering how many people can recite the Nicole Kidman AMC Theaters monologue, we wouldn’t be surprised if AMC’s loyal fanbase stocks up on this highly collectible new souvenir. ©AMC OK, so with all AMC’s viral moments lately, it got us thinking. People seem to be talking more about the movie theater (and its souvenirs) than the movies themselves. In fact, it seems like AMC is intentionally pushing the envelope — and it’s working. Yes, the Dune 2 popcorn bucket was bizarre. But people bought it, ultimately benefiting AMC AND the Dune 2 movie. Movie theater Recently, Adam Aron, the CEO of AMC Theatres, spoke with Variety about AMC’s successes and failures. The company reportedly has about $4.5 billion in debt, but Aron replied, “We’re still here.” The CEO added, “When you think about what we’ve been through the past four years, it’s kind of a miracle. It could have gone kaplooey 10 times, but it didn’t. And good for us. We’re almost finally through it.” Jungle Cruise Decorations at AMC So, how exactly is AMC still standing? Could it have to do with the company’s relationship with people on the internet? Aron admitted to Variety that he communicates with fans on social media and is open to new ideas. In fact, AMC recently attempted to reignite that conversation about Nicole Kidman’s promotional campaign by creating new versions of the classic “somehow, heartbreak feels good in a place like this” monologue. ©AMC Aron also commented on the success of AMC’s Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour film, telling Variety, “It got an ‘A+’ on CinemaScore and 98% on Rotten Tomatoes. It’s not like we threw together some garbage.” Both the Eras Tour concert film and AMC’s string of viral popcorn buckets show that AMC is paying attention to what people are talking about — and using it to their advantage. ©Getty Images The latest box office numbers have been disappointingly low. AMC seems to recognize that it’s going to take more than a flashy movie trailer to get people to the movies. So, yes, those goofy popcorn buckets are probably an obvious attempt to cash in on a new trend. But either way, when Ryan Reynolds from Deadpool & Wolverine declared #history was being made thanks to the “War of the Popcorn Buckets,” it got people talking. Will it help AMC get people out to the theaters? We’ll have to wait and see. @VancityReynolds on X Considering the fan reactions to the new popcorn bucket, it seems like AMC knew exactly what it was doing. In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest pop culture news, so stay tuned for more. 21. Nearly every single day, we think about how much we miss Disney’s Magical Express service. Magical Express sign This was a free service that took guests to and from the Orlando International Airport (MCO) and their Disney World hotel, and it was so deeply loved by pretty much all who used it. It was a magical, exciting, FREE thing to start and/or end your Disney World trip with. Now the closest thing to the old service is Mears Connect, which is NOT free and comes with much less Disney magic. But do you know what we miss more? This Disneyland Hotel perk that bypassed ALL the crowds. The Disneyland Monorail has been in operation since June 1959 and has been a beloved way to see the sights of Disneyland Park ever since. The 13-minute journey spans 2.5 miles of track and is a must-do in our eyes when visiting the park. Disneyland Monorail In 1961 the track was extended to connect the monorail directly to the Disneyland Hotel, so guests could board the Monorail straight from the hotel, no additional walking required. It was very similar to how the Resort Monorail has stations at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort, the Contemporary Resort, and Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort in Walt Disney World! Disneyland Hotel But this wasn’t the best part of the Monorail — it took guests directly from Disneyland Hotel INTO Tomorrowland, which means they bypassed ALL the entrance crowds! ©Disney The key word here though is USED to. But in 1999, Disney took this hotel perk away from guests and moved the Monorail station to Downtown Disney. Yes, the station is only steps away from the hotel and still takes guests right into Tomorrowland, but ANYONE with a ticket can use this Monorail now, instead of it mostly just being for hotel guests. The Disneyland Monorail station in Downtown Disney This is great for those of us who are NOT staying at the hotel, and hotel guests can still get into the park early with their early theme park entry, but it’s less convenient than it used to be. It also means it’s one less perk hotel guests get when they’re already paying so much to stay on property. Disneyland Monorail Looking for more recent Disneyland news? We’ve got you covered! It’s a beautiful show that highlights Disney films over the past 100 years, bringing scenes to life from classic animated movies, Star Wars, and more. But now, there’s a new pre-show you can catch for a limited time you won’t want to miss! Recently, World of Color — ONE introduced a new pre-show inspired by Inside Out 2! Inside Out 2 Preview at Walt Disney Presents The pre-show is officially called Emotional Rollercoaster and includes all our favorite characters from the first film, and even introduces the new characters we’ll meet in the second film, which releases on June 14th. Through animated projections and fountains synchronized to music, lasers, and sparkling lighting, the new emotions — Anxiety, Envy, Embarrassment, and Ennui — learn to coexist with the existing emotions in Riley’s head. ©Disney Disney hasn’t announced how long this pre-show will run before the main show, but we suggest checking it out sooner rather than later to ensure you won’t miss it! World of Color — ONE Keep in mind that getting a prime viewing spot for World of Color — ONE isn’t as easy as just staking out a spot — there are roped-off viewing areas for the show that can only be entered by getting a spot in the Virtual Queue that opens at 12PM PT (noon) each day. These areas are standing-room only and offer the best view of the show. World of Color — ONE If the Virtual Queue fills up, don’t despair! You can speak to a Cast Member 30-45 minutes before the show to inquire about walk-up waitlist options. You can also stand elsewhere and watch the show, but we recommend the Virtual Queue for the best spot in the park! World of Color — ONE If you’ve successfully snagged a spot in the Virtual Queue, you’ll want to enter the roped-off area around 45 minutes before the show to ensure you’ve got a good spot inside. However, we still don’t recommend planning anything for the hour before showtime to allow yourself enough time. More Disneyland Resort News! 25. So how do we feel about changes at Disney World? Magic Kingdom There are all kinds of changes we could talk about — new rides, hotels, and restaurants just to name a few. All that being said, if we look at two sources (historical data and recent comments made by Disney CEO Bob Iger) you’re going to want to brace yourself for two big changes that are most definitely going to come to the restaurants sooner than you thought — Increased Prices and More IP-based restaurants. Yep, it’s going to happen. Let’s talk about it! As we were saying, it looks like we’ve got two major things to look forward to in the near future when it comes to the restaurants in Disney World — Increased Prices and More IP-based restaurants. Be Our Guest Increased Prices First off, let’s talk about the elephant in the room — increased prices. If you’ve been to a Disney World park in the past few years, you know this isn’t exactly a new trend. It seems that every year like clockwork, Disney bumps up their prices on everything from park tickets to churros. Ticket prices in EPCOT Now, it’s safe to say we can expect more of the same over the foreseeable future. Disney dining is no exception to the price hike. As you can imagine, the cost of running these theme parks isn’t getting any cheaper, and guess what? Those costs are being passed on to us (yay us). Mongolian Beef Combo When you’re planning your next Disney trip, you’ll have to pad the budget a bit for those Mickey pretzels and character dining experiences. Iger himself has been pretty candid about the financial strategies Disney needs to adopt to stay competitive, and dining is a big part of that, so, don’t be surprised when your favorite snack or sit-down meal comes with a heftier bill. More IP-based Restaurants Now, let’s dive into something that’s hopefully a bit more exciting — more IP-based restaurants. If there’s one thing Disney does well, it’s leveraging their library of intellectual properties (IPs) as we can see in recent renovation projects in the hotels and character dining experiences. Mirabel at 1900 Park Fare Recently, Iger commented on Disney having a bigger focus on Intellectual Property (IP) across the board. Basically, expect even more experiences themed around your favorite Disney movies, shows, and characters. ©Disney You can see how this can totally translate to the restaurants. With the recent trailer for Moana 2 dropping, you can picture a full-blown Moana-inspired eatery with Polynesian flavors and a stunning ocean view, right? ©Disney Or with Star Wars’ Acolyte about to drop, they could expand Oga’s Star Wars cantina into a full-scale restaurant with differently themed dining rooms for different planets and the like. The bar at Oga’s Cantina I think we all would love to get a Coco-inspired restaurant in Disney World. And what about a Zootopia-themed cafe? I think you get that the possibilities are endless and we’re here for it. ©Disney So there you have it. As you’re planning for your next trip to Disney World, just be prepared for the sticker shock and more opportunities to enjoy dining experiences based on your favorite Disney stories. Until then, stay tuned to DFB for more updates on the latest Disney food news. 4 Charts To Explain Disney World’s Freakish Price Increases Join the DFB Newsletter to get all the breaking news right in your inbox!
