  1. It’s no secret that it gets HOT and humid in Florida in the summer! A sunny day in Hollywood Studios! That means that for people visiting Disney World in the summer, you have to be strategic about keeping cool and staying hydrated. Lots of breaks, plenty of water, and of course, sometimes we need a little extra help from special gadgets! In the past, we’ve tried cooling towels and hand fans to chill out, but recently, I tried a VIRAL neck fan in the parks…and it was a disaster. DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. Both this summer and last summer, neck fans have been all the rage in Disney World. And among the host of options, two brands have been incredibly popular on Amazon — ASNUG and JISULIFE. I tried both options on separate (significantly warm) days in the parks, and I’ve got some hot takes to share! Neck fans First up, I rolled out the ASNUG! Before my visit to the parks, I charged the fan for about an hour and a half, which was not enough time to get the battery to full capacity. You can charge both fans using a USB-C charging cable (which they come with). Personal Neck Fan The neck fan has three speeds, which you toggle between by pressing the power button on the side. I thought the power button had a pretty convenient location on this particular fan — right on the side of the fan mechanism itself. Top speed was my preferred method, so that’s what I stuck with for most of the day. Power button Ultimately, the battery lasted me about 2 hours and 15 minutes before it died completely. I found that it was pretty difficult to take on and off, based on the shape and the material it was made of (it stuck to my skin). It did do a good job of keeping my neck from sweating, and the air blows nicely on my cheekbones, but there was one glaring problem… Vents on the fan …it ATE my hair! I was wearing my hair down on this particular day and the fan sucked a piece of it into the side of the mechanism. Within seconds, that hair got twisted around the interior blades and a small section of hair got pulled out of my head! Thankfully, it wasn’t a huge loss, but this would be a major drawback for people with long hair who plan to wear it down. It ate my hair! Ultimately, the fan worked fine and I liked the direction of the air it blew, but the battery life and the hair-eating were huge downsides for me. So moral of the story here, fully charge the fan and wear your hair up!! GET THE NECK FAN HERE! The other fan I tried was the JISULIFE, which we ordered in a classic white color. I also used the provided USB-C cable to charge this fan for 1.5 hours before use, but its battery lasted more than 3 hours and 15 minutes with the same charge time as the other. JISULIFE fan I found the JISULIFE fan to be a little easier to slide on and off, thanks to its material and more open, rounded shape. However, because of its shape, it ends up mostly blowing air on my neck and chin, missing my face entirely. It’s a bit wider Also, the power button was difficult to find when actually wearing the fan, because it’s in the middle of the band, near the back. I had to feel around for a while to turn it off or to change between the three speeds. The power button was in a weird spot This fan did also have problems with sucking pieces of my hair into the mechanism, however, it didn’t rip out my hair like the ASNUG model did. Still not ideal, but a definite improvement. Thankfully didn’t rip out my hair While this one had a much better battery life and less hair damage, the design didn’t allow for ideal air flow and the button was difficult to locate. SNAG THE NECK FAN HERE! Overall So in the end, neither fan was really my ideal method of keeping cool in Disney World but we do see the benefits to them! If you wear your hair up and they are fully charged, they can be a great option if you need a hands free option. We see ya parents who are pushing a stroller, holding little ones, etc! We know for many, holding something in your hand isn’t practical. For me, personally prefer a handheld option that I can move around and focus on different parts of my face and body at my leisure. This handheld option is tiny and can also charge your phone! ©Amazon SNAG THE HANDHELD FAN HERE! That’s a wrap on my neck fan test in Disney World! Stay tuned to DFB for more tips on what to take to the parks. Looking for more Disney World essentials? Check out our Amazon storefront! What do you think of these neck fans? Tell us in the comments! 3. We consider ourselves experts in all things edible at Disney World, but we’re especially knowledgeable about mac and cheese. We’ve given ourselves the honorable task of finding the BEST mac and cheese, and in pursuit of this goal, we’ve found some seriously tasty dishes. Now, there’s a NEW option available, so of course we had to try it out ASAP. Animal Kingdom This new mac and cheese is SO new, in fact, that it’s not even on the online menu yet. But since we’re in the Disney World parks every day (looking for new updates and tasty treats), we spotted it right away. Let’s find out how it compares to our other favorite snacks! The new mac and cheese dish can be found at Eight Spoon Café in Disney’s Animal Kingdom. It’s the Barbacoa Beef on Baked Mac & Cheese, and it’s topped with crispy onions and green onions. You can grab it for $7.29. Barbacoa Beef on Baked Macaroni and Cheese Eight Spoon Café also has baked mac & cheese with pulled pork (for $6.79) and just plain baked mac & cheese (for $4.99), which are both delicious options, but we love having a brand-new snack to try. Eight Spoon Café Menu So how does the Barbacoa beef mac & cheese stack up? In short, it’s FANTASTIC. Oh, you wanted some more details? OK, we got you. The pasta itself is SO creamy and cheesy (as we’ve come to expect from the other mac & cheese we’ve had at Eight Spoon Café). There was enough Barbacoa beef on top to get some with every bite, which we loved. YUM The beef is very savory and tender, and it balanced well with the super cheesy pasta. The crema on top adds a sour cream-like flavor, and that with the green onions brightens it up really well (because all that meat and cheese could’ve been too heavy on its own, especially on a hot Orlando day). The crispy onions added a great crunch, and we appreciated the variety of texture. New mac & cheese The dish gets a little bit greasy at the bottom because of the juices from the beef and cheese sauce, but we could eat around that just fine. Overall, we loved it. We’ll have a hard time choosing between this one and the pulled pork option in the future because they’re both just so good! If you have a group with you (or if you’re just extra hungry), we’d definitely recommend getting both so you can try some of each! Grabbing a bite WE KNOW – there are SO many great snacks at Disney World! How do you choose (we don’t want to choose but will blow our budget on Day 1 otherwise)? We’ve got you covered! 4. If you love Disneyland enough that you could go every day, then there’s a good chance that you’re a Magic Keyholder! Magic Key Lounge Magic Key passes are like the Disneyland version of Annual Passes. They are sold in very limited quantities, but sales resumed back in January. Folks were SUPER excited because this was the first time in YEARS that they’d been available. However, if you were hoping to snag your own Magic Key pass soon, we have some bad news. Disney just shared that Magic Key sales have been paused. ©Disney While current Magic Key Holders have the opportunity to renew their pass, Disney said that renewal quantities are also limited. Pass types could also become unavailable. Disneyland Resort in 2023 Disney didn’t share details on when sales might resume. This could last a few weeks or even up to years, although that doesn’t seem likely. The last time sales were paused was as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, so hopefully this pause period won’t be as long! 8. Let’s face it. As Disney Adults, we’ve probably ALL dreamt of staying at one of Disney World’s Monorail resorts at some point. Grand Floridian Resort You see, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort, Polynesian Village Resort, and Contemporary Resort all have Monorail stops. This means you can hop on the Monorail at any point and head on over to Magic Kingdom and EPCOT! However, if you’re planning on visiting Magic Kingdom, it can be FASTER at times to just walk! Being able to wake up in the morning and take a quick walk over to Magic Kingdom is viewed as a HUGE perk — and it is — but we need to talk about some downsides associated with walking to and from Magic Kingdom. Here’s why it might not be the hotel perk that you think it is! In the mornings, being able to walk to Magic Kingdom is GREAT, especially if the Monorail is busy. Those lines can get LONG over at the hotels! Being able to walk, perhaps enjoy some coffee, and just spend some time in the fresh air as you walk to the park can be a great way to spend the morning. We have no qualms there! Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort The problems arise at the end of the night. Typically, everyone is sort of flocking out of Magic Kingdom around the same time each night. The lines for the ferry, buses, Monorail, and even resort boat launches get incredibly backed up to the point that you could be waiting more than an hour to hop on your preferred mode of transportation. The Monorail However, at that point, it becomes a serious dilemma. You’re so tired that you truly can’t decide if you’d rather go on a 20-minute walk or wait in line for an hour. THAT’S how badly your feet, legs, and back are hurting after a full day spent in a hot theme park. Magic Kingdom at night This can be made even WORSE if your room at the hotel is off the beaten path. Those are extra miles put in after walking a LOT during the day already! So…if you find yourself in this position, here’s what you can do. Wait it out! First and foremost, you totally don’t have to leave the park as soon as fireworks are over. A lot of folks choose the end of the fireworks show as a great time to head back home, even if the park doesn’t close until 30 minutes later or even an hour later. Evening in the Magic Kingdom To avoid those crowds, you can always wait it out in the parks! Grab a last-minute snack before the restaurants and snack carts close, find a place to sit and people watch, or even stroll around the shops to see if you find any souvenirs you like. Fantasyland in Magic Kingdom Then, you might have all the energy you need to walk home, or you can hop in line for transportation when the lines are hopefully much shorter. Start later in the day Who says you have to go all out — rope drop to park close? If that’s your thing then by all means, GO FOR IT, but that isn’t everyone’s style. Heading into the parks later in the day will help ensure you have enough energy to make it home without crawling there. The Ferryboat! If you do love rope dropping Magic Kingdom, you can always head back to the hotel at midday for a nap or some pool time to ensure that you still have some energy for later. Those lines are nearly nonexistent at midday! Wear shoes that don’t make you hate walking. Ever worn a pair of shoes that looked super great but were good for sitting around and not much else? Yep! We’ve been there too. Fantasyland Thankfully, we spend a LOT of time in the Disney Parks and we’ve narrowed down some of our FAVORITE shoes to wear to the Disney Parks. If you want our shoe recommendations, click here! Frontierland The truth is, though, that we could recommend shoes to you all day long, and even if they work for us, they might not work for you! Everyone’s foot, strides, and needs are different, and you should get fitted for a shoe that works great for you. A local running store like Fit2Run or Fleet Feet is a great place to start. And there you have it! Following those tips is a great way to ensure that being able to walk to Magic Kingdom remains a great perk — and not a hassle. We’re always here to bring you Disney advice and tips to make your trip smoother and even more magical. Make sure to follow along so that you’re always in the loop and never miss a thing. 9. There is so much to do at Disney Springs! A new drone show called “Disney Dreams That Soar” just debuted in May, and Disney Springs is jam-packed with restaurants and shops. Plus, you can find a variety of live entertainment throughout Disney Springs. Disney Springs We are always on the hunt to make sure we keep all of our readers up to date on the latest food offerings at Disney World. Disney Springs is constantly introducing new offerings and rotating through options, and we are headed over to Vivoli il Gelato to try out a treat for Pride Month! Vivoli il Gelato is located in The Landing area of Disney Springs, near The BOATHOUSE and Gideon’s Bakehouse. They offer a variety of gelato and sorbetto, as well as milkshakes, pastries, coffee, and more. Vivoli il Gelato uses the same recipes as their original storefront in Florence, Italy and the store even imports several ingredients directly from Italy! In addition to their normal menu, Vivoli il Gelato also offers a seasonal menu with offerings that change pretty consistently. The store is offering a treat for Pride Month, and we are here to try it out! Vivoli il Gelato Today we are grabbing the Cake Batter Cannoli from Vivoli il Gelato. The cannoli is filled with sweet cream of ricotta and cake batter topped with rainbow sprinkles. You can grab this treat for $7.75. We have seen this cannoli at Vivoli il Gelato before, but it has been a bit since we have seen it (the last time was in 2021.) This cannoli is here for a limited time, and you can only get it until July 31st. Cake Batter Cannoli The cannoli was not super sweet which we really enjoyed. The filling was light with a strong cream cheese flavor to it. We tasted the slightest hint of cake batter flavor in the filling. We thought the shell was quite crispy, although slightly dry. However, the filling helped make up for the bit of dryness to the shell. The shell doesn’t have much flavor, but the crispy texture worked well with the filling. Cake Batter Cannoli The sprinkles don’t add much flavor-wise, but they are a fun addition and have a soft texture, so you don’t feel like you are trying to chew through crispy bits. Plus, you can’t really have a cake batter flavor without some colorful sprinkles! However, we were left with an important question, where is the cake batter flavor? We got a slight hint of it in the filling, but this mostly just tasted like a regular cannoli. Lots of filling and colorful sprinkles! We probably would not have guessed this was a Cake Batter Cannoli unless we knew ahead of time, as the cake batter flavor was fairly light. We felt that it was a mostly authentic cannoli with a tiny smidge of cake batter flavor in the filling. We don’t think you need to rush over to Vivoli Il Gelato to pick-up this treat, but if you are in the area, it is a tasty treat! Just don’t go in expecting an overpowering cake batter flavor and we think you will enjoy it. You can grab this cannoli from June 1st through July 31st, 2024. 10. We love stopping to grab a bite to eat at the hotels around Disney World! DIsney’s Riveria Resort With almost 30 hotels on Disney World property, there are so many, bars, lounges, table-service, and quick-service restaurants to choose from. Grabbing something to eat at another hotel is a great way to explore all that Disney World has to offer! Recently, we saw a new addition to one of our favorite hotel quick-service restaurants, Primo Piatto, located at Disney’s Riveria Resort. Disney’s Riveria Resort is beautiful and has quite a few places for you to grab something to eat. For example, in the lobby, you will find Le Petit Cafe, which serves up some of our favorite coffee resort-wide. If you are looking to start your day with a character breakfast or end your night with a stunning view of Disney World, then you may want to check out Topolino’s Terrace at the top of the Rivera Resort. But act fast because reservations tend to go quickly! Topolino’s Terrace The Riveria’s quick-service option is Primo Piatto, where you can find grab-and-go food and order hot food. We recently saw that Primo Piatto has a new Vegetable Wrap, and we had to go and try it! Primo Piatto This wrap, which costs $9.49, can be found in the refrigerated grab-and-go section during lunch and dinner. It is filled with hummus, quinoa, and crisp vegetables. Find the wrap in the refrigerated section When we went to try it, we were hoping it would be similar to the Grilled Vegetable Skewer that you can order at Primo Piatto or Bar Riva, but in a grab-and-go form. Normally, we are not fans of tortillas in a refrigerated case because the edges tend to get dry. The good news with this wrap is that was not the case. Vegetable Wrap The wrap’s contents are super fresh and tasty. The lettuce is crispy, and the flavorful quinoa is on the Grilled Vegetable Skewer that we love. The downside is that it does not have as much flavor as the skewer does. Vegetable Wrap We still love this as a grab-and-go option since it is still flavorful in its own way. A big benefit is that we did not have to wait for it to be made. You can also bring it to your room and keep it in your fridge. It is easy to bring back to your room! Overall, we would get this again! If you are vegetarian or vegan, this is a great option! Even if you are not, if you are looking for a quick on-the-go meal, this is a good item to grab. We will 100% get the Vegetable Wrap at Primo Piatto again! Need Disney Restaurant Advice? 11. Are you ready to vacation differently? Forget about heading over to Magic Kindom or EPCOT. No, we’re talking about hopping on a Disney Cruise! Disney Treasure ©Disney With all the ships in the fleet, it can be a little challenging to figure out which ship to cruise on. It doesn’t help that the fleet which is currently at five ships is soon to be six! Don’t worry. We’re here to help you decide which ship is right for you and your family. Let’s break it down! As we were saying, the Disney Cruise Line fleet is comprised of five world-class ships: the Disney Magic, the Disney Wonder, the Disney Dream, the Disney Fantasy, and the Disney Wish. The fleet will be joined by the Disney Treasure later this year! They all sail to different ports and in different areas of the world, so just your itinerary of WHERE you want to travel will narrow down your selection quite a bit. Also, if you’re restricted on cruising dates, that will help narrow down your options. For example, if your travel plans have you cruisin’ around Europe, then you’ll be sailing on the Disney Dream — because that’s the only ship that currently sails in Europe. Not a bad view But we’re gonna take travel dates and travel destinations off of the table and JUST look at the ships and what the ships have to offer. We’re gonna rank all five ships based off of some standard criteria so YOU know which ship will best fit your needs and the needs of your family. And we’ll try to slot in the newest one in (even though it hasn’t started sailing yet) where we can. Best Cruise for Food Best Cruise for Adults Best Cruise for Kids Best Cruise for Teens Best Cruise for Recreation Best Cruise for Entertainment Set Sail with Disney Pals! So, now that you have an idea of what this is all about, let’s dig into these ships! We have a full overview of everything the ships have to offer, and now we’re highlighting the ships that top each category of fun, food, and frivolity! Best Cruise for Food Sometimes evaluating food, restaurants, and dining experiences on Disney Cruise ships can be difficult because many of them offer the same options. All of the ships have a sort of food court-style quick service options on the top deck, near the pools. You can find fine dining options like Palo or Remy (or both) on most of the ships. And Animator’s Palate has become a Disney Cruise dining icon on the ships. So, how do you distinguish “best food” on the ships when so many options are so similar on most of the ships? Animator’s Palate on the Disney Dream Now, consider this a good thing! It’s difficult to decide the best and that means that when selecting your cruise, you don’t have to worry about FOMO! If your cruise destination has you sailing on the Disney Wonder instead of the Disney Dream because so many experiences are similar across the fleet, that means that you won’t be missing much (if anything). Palo Now we know that makes us sound like we’re teasing you. “Hey DFB, you said you’d give the Best Cruise for Food, and now you’re saying it’s all good. What’s the deal?” Ok, ok, we hear you! There IS a Best Cruise for Food — the standout in this category is the Disney Wish. The Disney Wish is the newest Disney Cruise and it has SO many dining options, some are similar to experiences on other ships, and some are completely unique to the Wish! And there’s just MORE to choose from! Food on the Disney Wish The Wish has the traditional Disney Cruise Line three dining room rotational dining service which rotates among three brand new dining stories: Worlds of Marvel, 1923, and Arendelle: A Frozen Dining Adventure. These new dining experiences are unique, fun, engaging and let’s face it, delicious! You’ll also find the poolside quick service options that you’ve come to expect on a Disney Cruise, but the quality of these locations on the Wish just stands apart from the other ships. Who knew Ant-Man was such a good cook? The Wish just also goes above and beyond in some other categories, like having some great spots to snag specialty coffee orders, for those who need a latte while they cruise, you can pick up your caffeine fix at Wishing Star Cafe and also in Marceline Market (the top deck buffet service), both in addition to the Cove Bar & Café you can find on all of the Disney ships. The same can be said of the bars and lounges, the Wish has NINE (well, TEN if you include Hook’s Barbery, which will serve up some rum while you get your beard trimmed)! There’s even a $5,000 cocktail you can get at the exclusive Star Wars Hyperspace Lounge. Awesome Cast Members! The Disney Wish wins the food category, but that doesn’t mean that the other ships are losers. You’ll still have amazing and memorable meals aboard any of Disney’s ships. But, if you’re going to pick a cruise just based on the food alone, and you don’t care where or when you cruise, then you’ll want the Disney Wish. All of the Disney Wish Restaurants Before we finish this category, let’s talk about the unique dining experiences that will be aboard the Dinsey Treasure. First up, we’ve got the Plaza de Coco. Plaza de Coco Plaza de Coco will be part of Disney’s signature rotational dining experience aboard the Disney Treasure. This restaurant will be a theatrical dining experience and will be the FIRST themed to a Disney and Pixar film! Passengers will get to dine at this unique location TWO evenings. The menu is said to be a modern twist on traditional Mexican fare. The story will pick up right where the film left off where Miguel and his familia will come together in Mariachi Plaza. ©Disney What Disney Could Serve at Its NEW ‘Coco’ Restaurant? Skipper Society We have been super excited about this new Jungle-Cruise-themed bar that will be aboard the Treasure! The bar will take inspiration from this popular attraction that has different versions across the globe! There will be fun hidden Easter eggs that nod to the attraction. The Treasure will even have its own Jungle Cruise boat named Ems Express! ©Disney Jungle Cruise Lounge Announced for Disney Treasure Cruise Ship Haunted Mansion Parlor We love this theme of lounges and bars based on some of our favorite attractions! Soon aboard the Treasure, you will get the opportunity to sip cocktails among our favorite 999 happy haunts! You can expect to see famous and iconic characters from Haunted Mansion attractions around the world, along with new haunts. This bar will tell a story in 30-minute loops. Of course, there will be signature drinks like a zero-proof cocktail served in a specialty mug called Sympathetic Libations! ©Disney A Haunted Mansion Bar Is Coming to the Disney Treasure Cruise Ship! Periscope Pub Another lounge based on an attraction? We love it! The Periscope Pub will take inspiration from the film and defunct attraction 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. This Submarine-inspired lounge will present “19th-century steampunk influences.” There will be light bites, craft brews, and TVs to allow you to watch any sporting event! ©Disney Come With Us INSIDE the Disney Treasure Cruise Ship Jumbeaux’s Sweets Zootopia’s very own ice cream parlor, Jumbeaux Café, will have its counterpart on the Disney Treasure with Jumbeaux’s Sweets! Officer Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde will be featured in a sculpture tribute within this “playful pink” shop featuring Victorian-style architecture. ©Disney And what’s Jumbeaux’s Sweets serving up? “Humor and heart by the cone full” in the form of more than 20 flavors of handmade gelato, 16 flavors of ice cream and sorbets, specialty treats, candies, and more. Click HERE for more on Jumbeaux’s Sweets! Heihei Café Oh, HEY, Heihei! Moana’s sidekick is the inspiration for Heihei Café, a causal walk-up cafe just off the Grand Hall. The Southern Pacific Isle of Motunui, as seen in Moana, provides the blue-water vibe, and the setting will be complete with furniture stylings paying homage to “a traditional construction technique used by the Polynesian people to craft seafaring vessels.” ©Disney Sounds like a pretty good place for your morning cup of coffee or tea, huh? Jade Cricket Café Another walk-up café offering coffee, tea, and more is inspired by the Fa Family’s “lucky” cricket, Cri-Kee from Mulan! ©Disney A jade sculpture on the bar top will pay tribute to Cri-Kee, while the central moon gate and plum blossom flowers serve as “symbols of Mulan’s strength, beauty and heritage,” along with counters that will remind visitors of Mulan’s armor. Find out more about the Cafes onboard the Treasure HERE! Best Cruise for Adults Disney Cruises are great for families and kids, but they make amazing vacations and retreats for adults, as well. Whether you’re traveling solo, with some pals, on your honeymoon or anniversary, or with your family but just getting a break from the younger members of your crew, the Disney Cruise ships offer fun, relaxation, and luxury for grown-ups. Senses Spa You just read all about which cruise wins for food and you’re thinking, with ten bars and lounges, that the Wish has to top the Adults category, too, don’t you? Well, SURPRISE, it’s up there but didn’t win this round. Who edged out their sister ships in this category? The Disney Fantasy. Disney Fantasy As mentioned above, many of the ships offer overlapping experiences and offerings, so you’ll find adult-only areas, pools, lounges, spas, and decks on all of the ships. But what sets the Fantasy apart from her sisters is that her over-18 options are conveniently located in the same general section of the ship. The adult dining options of Palo, Meridian, and Remy are snuggled together at the aft end of Deck 12, but Deck 4 seems to be created with adults in mind with seven variously themed bars and lounges (Vista Cafe, D Lounge, Ooh La La, La Piazza, O’Gills Pub, Skyline, and The Tube), not to mention Tiffany & Co gift shop for those looking for some duty-free jewelry purchases. Ooh Laa Laa Again, you’ll find adult-only sections on every Disney Cruise. However, if your cruise plans are centered around a grown-up adventure, then you might want to see where the Fantasy will take you! Disney Fantasy Cruising: 2023 Restaurant Guide Best Cruise for Kids Well, this is all Disney Cruises, isn’t it? If Disney is known for anything, it’s quality entertainment for kids, so you know you’re kids are gonna have a good time on a Disney Cruise. But is any one ship slightly better at this than the others? Oceaneer Club All of the ships have kids-only areas that are age-specific with activities and entertainment tailored to that age range. These Disney Oceaneer Clubs and Oceaneer Labs are on all of the cruise ships, but there are different themes and Disney stories utilized on each ship. But one ship pulls ahead of its peers in this category: The Disney Wish. The Wish is really a benefactor of its older siblings. The Wish started her cruising career in 2022, nearly 24 years after the first official Disney Cruise ship, The Disney Magic. That’s 24 years for Imagineers, technology, and research to optimize the best possible experience and space for little cruisers to enjoy. And they’ve really done their homework and it begins before they even enter the Oceaneer space — at the entrance, which is A SLIDE! Parents check their kiddos into the Club on Deck 3, and then they SLIDE DOWN to Deck 2, where the club is located (sorry, it’s a kids-only slide, no adults allowed). You can enter the Disney Wish kids’ area through a SLIDE! The Oceaneer Club has multiple spaces where kids can choose to hang out and participate in different activities. There’s a stage in the hub of the club where there will be special shows and character appearances. Then it breaks off into different themed areas like Fairytale Hall for fans of Disney royalty; Walt Disney Imagineering Lab, where kids participate in hands-on activities; Marvel Super Hero Academy for those Avengers-in-training; Star Wars Cargo Bay for those force-sensitive in the family; and Mickey & Minnie’s Captain’s Deck with an indoor playground set for getting some of that youthful energy out. Oceaneer Lab And while it’s not located in the Oceaneer Club, you can’t forget about Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique where kids can get transformed into their favorite Disney characters! And other kid-loved spaces like pools, waterslides….er water-coasters, the Hero Zone, and well, you know, the whole rest of the ship. The Disney Wish includes an Imagineering Lab for kids! So the Wish is the best cruise for kids, but another thing to consider is the best cruise ship for adults with kids and we’d consider the Magic or the Wonder would fit that role as those ships are smaller, easier to navigate, and overall just a bit less complicated. So, this is kind of a “yes, but” answer, but still something worth considering! Explore the Kids Clubs on the New Disney Cruise Ship — The Wish Best Cruise for Teens Let’s look at that teen stereotype of kinda moody, a little sassy, too “grown up” for cartoons, but still a little goofy and definitely not shouldering the burden of student-loan debt or a mortgage, but dealing with the nuances of maintaining their cool in a virtual universe of social media. Can Disney find something to appeal to the complex creatures that are human teenagers? Is there anything on a Disney Cruise ship that might entice a teen to put down their phone (or adults too for that matter, you know who you are), and have dinner with their family, watch a show, participate in a game, or even make some new friends and actually talk to them IRL (that’s “in real life” for you grown-ups out there) rather than just communicating through text? Vibe Disney had their work cut out for them to find new and engaging ways to reach the ever-evolving interests or teenagers. And as technology, culture, and trends seems to change every five years, that is a daunting task to remain relevant for this dynamic group of cruisers. Yet, they managed to do it! (Disney, you are really a place where dreams come true!) But which ship did it best? Vibe We’re starting to sound like a bit of a broken record, but we like the Disney Wish and Disney’s Dream and Fantasy (since they have the same options. So too will the Treasure when it launches). Disney Wish’s indoor or weather-controlled Hero Zone is a multi-use space for so many activities. This includes basketball, ping pong, air hockey, shuffleboard, and foosball. Families can use this area too, but it’s especially great for teens. It’s not an accident that the Hero Zone is near Vibe on Disney Wish. Hero Zone ©Disney The Wish is the only ship to have The Hideaway for teens and tweens. Yet the other ships – Disney Dream, Fantasy, and Magic – all have Chill, a teens-only spa for ages 13 to 17. Learn All of the Disney Wish Secrets Best Cruise for Recreation (pools & spa) For all of these categories, we can honestly say, “all of the ships are great, but this one just squeaks out ahead”, but not for this category. When it comes to the best Disney Cruise ship for Recreation (we’re talking pools and spas), The Disney Wish is the clear front runner. Aaaaahh…. Now, yes, you will find plenty of pools and a luxurious spa on each and every one of the Disney Cruise ships, but the Wish just does them bigger, better, and more! The AquaMouse is not your average pool slide, or even your cruise-specific “over the edge of boat” slide, it’s a complete water attraction! You’ll get in a 2-seater ride vehicle and go up into a tunnel that will take you into the world of Disney animated shorts, either “Scuba Scramble” or “Swiss Meltdown” as your story, and you’ll see the story playing out on the screens around you! ©Disney Also, the Disney Treasure will present AquaMouse: Curse of the Golden Egg its own all-new storyline! ©Disney Beyond the epic water coaster, there are a total of 10 pools and water play areas, in fact — each named after a Disney character! And for the little ones, there’s a Toy Story Splash Zone, which has Toy Story characters that squirt water! Quiet Cove is an adults-only area of the deck, where you’ll find an infinity pool, whirlpool spa, and bar. Toy Story Splash Zone And the Spa?! The Senses Spa is on all of the Cruise Ships, but on the Disney Wish, there are all of the luxurious indoor treatment areas and an outdoor rainforest relaxation space. Unique to the ship is Disney Cruise Line’s first-ever ice lounge for thermal therapies, plus other treatments like heated ergonomic loungers. There are also multiple different rooms to use like the sauna, steam room, and frigidarium, or the cold room. Oasis Other Cruises have the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutiques for little ones to get the royal treatment, but only the Wish has Hook’s Barbery, where dapper folks can get spiffed up in a setting reminiscent of a cigar room, and could also sip on a nice cognac or rum in the process. It’s a BARber shop, get it? Hook’s Barbery Will you get the chance to pamper yourself and relax on other Disney cruises? Yes. But if your final destination is relaxation decadence, then you want the Wish. (Keep in mind that the Treasure will also offer the same spots as the Wish currently does). The Most Relaxing Spots on Disney’s New Cruise Ship Best Cruise for Entertainment (clubs, shows, and characters) Disney Cruise Line also offers free movies in multiple spots – out on the funnel vision screen near the pools, as well as in the movie theater on the ship. The movie theater even offers runs of new movies that are currently out in theaters. There are also Broadway-style shows in the theater onboard the ship. Typically these large productions are offered more than once a night. Each ship has its own unique performances. Walt Disney Theatre In the ship’s Atriums, Disney Characters meet and interact with guests throughout the day, and the ships all set off evening fireworks. And there are spaces onboard for quizzes, trivia, and games for families or just adults to enjoy. The ships are all floating entertainment centers! But a few of them offer a bit more in this category. The Disney Dream and Fantasy both host the Midship Detective Agency, an interactive game taking guests all around the ship to solve a mystery. There are three different mystery options involving Mickey and friends, characters from Disney’s 101 Dalmations, or the Muppets. And we do love a good Muppet Caper! Disney Cruise Line Atrium The Disney Wish has learned from its older siblings and created a unique Atrium Stage which hosts unique character shows throughout the cruise and character meet-and-greet opportunities. It also has its own interactive game aboard, Disney Unchartered Adventure. Disney Unchartered Adventure is its own interactive game using the Play Disney Parks app and AR technology on your mobile device to play games and interact with your favorite Disney characters. Welcome So, which ship comes out on top? We lean toward the Dream and Fantasy. We love the Midship Detective Agency and how families can play it together or individuals can play it solo. Plus, Muppets. ‘Nough said. SNEAK PEEK at Pixar Characters Coming to Disney Cruise Line Soon Summary Like we’ve said about a hundred times already, there’s no such thing as a bad Disney Cruise. Your ship will provide you with impeccable service, special memories, amazing food, fun activities, and relaxation galore, no matter when or where you cruise. But if you’re looking for some very specific onboard experiences, these categories may help you find the right ship for you and your family. WOOHOO! 12. On top of planning for all the fun things you want to do at Disney World, you should probably account for obstacles that could get in the way of having a great time. TTC One of those obstacles could wind up being something that is meant to help, like the Transportation and Ticket Center (TTC). Serving as the main transportation hub of Disney World, the goal of the TTC is supposed to get you from A to B without too much of a hassle. However, avoiding problems at the TTC won’t always be easy. The TTC serves as the hub for the three Monorail loops/beams as well as a center to board buses and ferryboats. It’s worth noting that anyone staying at or using the Disney World transportation options, such as Skyliner, Monorail stations, or buses can bypass the TTC. The TTC is incredibly useful and serves a purpose at Disney World, but that doesn’t mean it can’t get on our nerves to the point of breaking down. We’ll explain… The TTC is far from the Magic Kingdom If you show up to the TTC thinking you’re nearly done on your journey to the Magic Kingdom, you’re in for a big surprise. TTC Parking Lot Unlike the other parks that have a parking lot right next to their entrances, Magic Kingdom collects its guests from a set of parking lots that are over a mile away from the park gates. Once you park in either the Heroes or Villains section of the lot, you then take a tram ride or walk to the TTC. From there, you’ll go through a security checkpoint before deciding to take the monorail or ferryboat. FINALLY, you’ll reach the park gates. Then you have to do it in reverse by the end of the night. Whew. Hop on the tram! Of course, life gets a lot easier if you can take your hotel’s park transportation and avoid the TTC altogether! TTC crowds can get ugly Disney World is one of the most visited places on Earth — it’s fair to expect crowds. Good grief! While not all Disney World guests deal with the TTC, plenty still park or take a ride share, meaning at some point they’ll need to return to the TTC. The crowds can especially fill up after the Magic Kingdom fireworks. Happily Ever After The best way to bypass the end-of-night crowds is one of two ways — take off before the fireworks, or wait for the park to empty or close after the show. Once you hit closing time, Magic Kingdom’s Main Street, U.S.A. shops will remain open for at least another half hour or longer so you can shop or chill out and watch the park empty under the glow of Cinderella Castle. Once Main Street looks like a street and not a sea of people, that’s your cue to finally leave the park. Rideshares will still drop you off at the TTC Rideshares like Uber and Lyft are still required to drop you off at the TTC if you’re headed to Magic Kingdom, so even if you avoid parking, this is something to keep in mind. TTC rideshare loop A fantastic alternative is Disney’s Minnie Van service! This service will pick you up and drop you off in front of Magic Kingdom, making it the only rideshare service that is allowed to pick up guests in front of the park. Minnie Van You can book a Minnie Van for an additional fee through the Lyft App once you’re on Disney property. Monorail breakdowns Sometimes our TTC breakdowns are caused by actual breakdowns! Monorail Occasionally, the monorail will be unavailable due to technical difficulties, and, sometimes, a new train will even have to be towed out. When that happens, there’s not much more you can do. Fortunately, you should be able to catch a ride on a ferryboat or transfer over to a bus if you’re headed to EPCOT. When in doubt, always ask for help from nearby staff and Cast Members. Magic Kingdom Ferryboat There you have it! Ultimately, navigating the TTC can be a pain but it doesn’t have to be the end of the world. 13. Okay, Disney World people, are you jealous of the Pixar Fest happening right now in Disneyland? Why can’t we get something like that in Disney World? WHY?!?!?! Pixar Plaza We’ll admit that we’ve had some SERIOUS FOMO that we seem to be missing out on all the Pixar fun, entertainment, and food. Disney World may not be getting something like Pixar Fest (which is a SHAME), but we do have some good news: Disney World will be getting some new Pixar-themed food and souvenirs. That’s something, right? Okay, so here’s what you need to know: these new Pixar-themed treats and souvenirs will be available in Disney’s Hollywood Studios as of June 10th. Now, you might already know about a few Pixar treats already available like Jack-Jack’s Num Num Cookie at Market and Neighborhood Bakery (HIGHLY recommend)… Jack-Jack Cookie Num Num ©Disney …and Cupcake à la Forky at Roundup Rodeo BBQ (which is ALL about Toy Story). However, some new treats will be available soon, too. Forky! Well, three NEW treats will be coming to Hollywood Studios soon, including The Incredibles Chocolate Cake at ABC Commissary. This is a Chocolate cake covered with dark chocolate ganache and topped with lemon and strawberry buttercream and strawberry jam. Look at that cute little Incredibles mask. ©Disney For those of you who love Cars, you can get the Lightning McQueen Spare Tire at Rosie’s All-American Café, a chocolate cake doughnut filled with raspberry jam enrobed in dark chocolate mousse, coconut glaze, chocolate flakes, and a chocolate coin. If life is a highway, we might just eat this Cars-themed treat all day long because it sounds UH-mazing. ©Disney There’s even a treat for Monsters, Inc. fans. It’s the Mike Wazowski Cupcake at Backlot Express. It’s a Vanilla cake filled with raspberry jam topped with pistachio buttercream and butterscotch chips. Okay, that sounds monstrous…but also SUPER interesting. We think Mike W. would approve. ©Disney However, you’ll be able to grab a few new souvenirs, too, and we’ll warn you now: we’re already obsessed with the Slinky Dog Sipper, which you’ll be able to find at various outdoor vending locations. It’s TOO adorable. ©Disney Here’s the BIG news, though. We know some of y’all (okay, it was us, actually) were SUPER jealous of the Alien Pizza Planet Popcorn Bucket that was previously only available at Disneyland. This popcorn bucket will soon be available in Hollywood Studios at various popcorn buckets. This baby was SUPER popular over on the West Coast, so we expect to see some long lines for it in Disney World, too. 14. We know how popular Disney’s popcorn buckets are, so as soon as we heard that a new bucket was coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios, we had to tell you ASAP! Hollywood Studios Now, this popcorn bucket isn’t technically new, but it IS new to Disney World. And for everyone who thinks Disneyland gets all the good popcorn buckets and is super jealous (which we think you’re totally right), you’re gonna be excited to see this West Coast souvenir finally make its way to Orlando! Disney has announced that the Alien Pizza Planet Truck Bucket is coming to Hollywood Studios soon! A bunch of new Pixar-themed snacks are coming to the park on June 10th, and the new popcorn bucket will arrive on the same day. Alien Pizza Planet Truck Bucket Disneyland got the Pizza Planet bucket at the start of Pixar Fest earlier this year, and Disney fans in Florida were very jealous. But now’s your chance to grab it without having to travel all the way to California. You’ll be able to get it starting on June 10th at various popcorn carts throughout Hollywood Studios. Pizza Planet Popcorn Bucket Alongside the “new” popcorn bucket, there’s a new Slinky Dog Sipper coming to various outdoor vending locations. ©Disney Here’s a look at those new Pixar treats arriving on June 10th: The Incredibles Chocolate Cake at ABC Commissary: Chocolate cake covered with dark chocolate ganache and topped with lemon and strawberry buttercream and strawberry jam ©Disney Lightning McQueen Spare Tire at Rosie’s All-American Café: Chocolate cake doughnut filled with raspberry jam enrobed in dark chocolate mousse, coconut glaze, chocolate flakes, and a chocolate coin ©Disney Mike Wazowski Cupcake at Backlot Express: Vanilla cake filled with raspberry jam topped with pistachio buttercream and butterscotch chips ©Disney Disney’s souvenir popcorn buckets usually start at around $13, but these specialty, limited-time ones are generally more expensive. In Disneyland, the Alien Pizza Planet bucket costs $26. We’ll let you know as soon as we know whether it’s the same price in Hollywood Studios. When you purchase a popcorn bucket in Disney World, it comes filled with popcorn and you can refill it for $2.25 each time throughout the length of your stay. A normal box of popcorn (not a bucket) costs around $5.50, so if you were planning on getting at least two boxes of popcorn anyway and want the souvenir bucket to take back home, it can be a good deal. 15. We’ve got a lot of things to think about when it comes to getting ready for our Disney World trips, right? Magic Kingdom We’re thinking constantly about the flights, the hotels, and all the food we’ll be eating there and along the way. But what if we told you there was one thing that we often overlook and it has the potential to make or break our trips? We’re talking about germs and specifically how you can avoid them on your next Disney World trip! Let’s talk about it! As we were saying, one of the last things we typically think about when we’re planning our Disney World trips is all of the germs we’re going to be bombarded with. But don’t worry! We’re here to talk about how to avoid those bugs and stay as healthy as possible on your trip. Say No to Aisle Seats on the Plane First things first. When you’re on the plane, will you be getting an aisle seat? No. Give that one a hard pass. Southwest Cabin A 2008 CDC study found aisle dwellers are exposed to way more germs. Instead, score yourself a window seat and create your own personal germ shield. Prioritize Your Sleep Next, sleep is your best friend. Sounds like a no-brainer, right? But when you’re hyped for Disney, sleep can literally be the last thing you think about. Animal Kingdom Lodge beds Don’t do it! A sleep-deprived body means a weaker immune system, which means germs win. So make sure you’ve already caught those zzz’s before catching the plane. Hydrate Like It’s Your Job Hydration is key too. Especially if you’re indulging in those salty treats like Mickey pretzels, which will have you dehydrating faster than you think. Don’t forget your water bottle! Also, Florida’s incredibly hot and humid, so keep that water bottle handy. SPF is Non-Negotiable While we’re talking about hydration, don’t forget the SPF! Sunburn is no fun, and skin cancer is a serious deal. I like to carry this in my park bag! Pack that sunscreen and reapply it religiously! Hands Off! Now, let’s get down to the nitty-gritty. If you can, basically avoid touching anything if you can help it. Honey Wall And that includes those “interactive” queue elements. So yeah, maybe skip the honey wall in The Many Adventures of Winne the Pooh’s queue. I know that sounds extreme, but a healthy vacation is a happy vacation! Meet Hand Sanitizer (Your New Bestie) Hand sanitizer is my BFF. I practically go through a mini bottle every other day, no joke. You’ll want to pack a few and become the Queen (or King) of clean hands. Hand Sanitizer While you’re at it, you should pack sanitizing wipes. They’re perfect for wiping down all the surfaces around you like your tabletop, TV remote, and trash cans too. Eat like a Germaphobe Forget about digging into those corn dog nuggets with your bare fingers. Use forks and spoons all the time (they’re your new best friends). Delicious and golden If utensils aren’t an option, a napkin barrier is the way to go. Seriously, a little napkin trickery can make a big difference. Avoid Sharing Items Avoid handing things back and forth whenever possible. If you’re trying to get a character’s signature, maybe hold out your autograph book for the character to sign instead of handing it over. All the autographs! We know that sharing is caring, but not when it comes to the germs that can get all over our pens, markers, and utensils. Also, while we’re at it, your phone could also use a good wipe-down too because, let’s face it, that thing goes everywhere. Boost that Immunity Lastly, consider bringing some Emergen-C or other immunity boosters. ©Amazon They’re easy to pack and can help give your immune system that extra kick. 16. Okay, we have to ask, Disney, what is this sudden obsession with croissants? Amorette’s Patisserie Yes, croissants are generally basic, but lately, Disney World has been offering up all kinds of over-the-top croissants, following a seriously viral croissant trend that’s taken the internet by storm. We’ve had a croissant stuffed with espresso (why get a croissant and a coffee when you can have both in one snack?) and a PB and J Croissant (no, really). We’ve also had a Croissant Cookie, which seems to be THE new croissant trend because we just had a DIFFERENT version of that very same snack. The Croissant Cookie we had from Contempo Cafe at Disney’s Contemporary Resort was a croissant wrapped around cookie dough. Now, Amorette’s Patisserie has offered us a Cookie Dough Croissant for $8, which is a Croissant filled and topped with cookie dough. This has become a THING, folks! We just want to warn you: if you get this, get yourself some napkins because it is VERY messy to eat because of the melted chocolate and croissant crumbs. Cookie Dough Croissant The croissant is nice and flaky, as well as golden and crispy on the outside. It just has a hint of sweetness. The cookie on top is lightly baked and it’s a nice texture thing because there are some crispy edges on that cookie dough that just SERVE. The chocolate is rich and sweet and works well with the croissant. Flavor-wise, we can’t complain. Perfectly golden and flaky croissant We were thrown off by the cookie dough in the middle of the croissant because it is underbaked (kinda’ the point of cookie dough, we know), but it’s chewy and we didn’t exactly love that texture with that of the croissant. However, we will go on the record as saying this is still a tasty treat and we aren’t mad about Disney’s recent obsession with croissants. Cookie dough inside Overall, we’d recommend this snack. 17. Happy Pride Month, everyone! This is the time of year when we get to literally “taste the rainbow” of Disney World snacks, and we’ve eaten our share of Pride treats recently, including a Pride Mousse Dome with Mickey Ears. There are a ton of other Pride snacks to grab, though, so we’re making our way around Disney World to eat our fill of rainbow treats. Amorette’s Patisserie We recently headed to Amorette’s Patisserie in Disney Springs to try a new snack there, and let’s just say — it didn’t go as well as we might have expected. Meet Amorette’s special limited-time treat, the Rainbow Love Mousse Bar for $7.25, which has been released in honor of Pride Month. It’s made with Orange Dream Mousse with Crispy Cereal Crunch and Orange Passion Curd. Rainbow Love Mousse Bar So, this snack is certainly worthy of ALL the Instagram photos, but um…we’ve got some bad news — this snack didn’t do it for us. The orange flavor tastes artificial and way too sugary. The “crispy cereal crunch” is a layer of cereal that tasted a LOT like Fruity Pebbles on the bottom, with the pieces being held together with marshmallow fluff. This cereal tasted STALE. Then you’ve got the powdered sugar on top, and y’all, add that to the cereal and the marshmallow fluff, and it’s just TOO much sugar. Yes, you can have too much artificial sugary stuff and this was definitely that for us. It’s pretty We will say, though, that the Orange Dream Mousse itself was creamy and smooth — can we just get that by itself? Like we think that would be a hit. Overall, though, this snack is a miss for us. If you want something to take pretty photos of? Sure, buy it. But we think there are better Pride snacks out there (like that previously-mentioned Pride Mousse Dome we found at Creature Comforts in Animal Kingdom). TOO much sugar We’ll be trying even more of the new Pride snacks this month, though, so you’ll want to stay tuned to DFB for more reviews. WE KNOW – there are SO many great snacks at Disney World! 19. Are you planning a trip to Disney World in 2024? Magic Kingdom We want to help and make sure that your trip goes to plan and does not spiral out of control! We go to Disney World every day and have learned a thing or two. Learn from our mistakes: you do NOT want to regret these 15 things during your trip to Disney World! 9. Getting In Line For A Character TOO LATE Just like parks and restaurants, even the characters have different hours. Characters have busy lives, for example, sometimes Mickey has to go walk Pluto! Always check the My Disney Experience app for character meet-and-greet times. Hi, Mickey! A word of caution: sometimes, the lines cut off before the listed time on the app. This is because the character stops meeting at a certain time, so the time listed on the app is when their meet-and-greet is over. This means you need to be in line well before this time to avoid being turned away. Pluto Meeting characters is not the same as getting in line for a ride a minute before the park closes. If you want to meet a certain character, make sure you plan to be in line well before it gets cut off. Tiana If you do miss a character, you might be able to meet them in another park! For example, Moana meets in both Animal Kingdom and EPCOT. So if you miss her during your EPCOT day, you can try again if you plan to visit Animal Kingdom later during your trip. Moana in EPCOT You have a pretty good chance of seeing the Fab Five in all four parks, so don’t stress if you miss one of them on one of your park days! Five Things That Mickey Mouse Can’t Do Hey Goofy! So remember, if you want to meet a character, check those meet and greet times and be in line well before the ending time. Every Character Meet and Greet at Disney World 10. Avoiding The My Disney Experience App If you have not been able to tell, the My Disney Experience app is an important tool that you will use before, during, and even after your vacation has ended. Make sure you have this app downloaded BEFORE your trip and get familiar with it! ©Disney The My Disney Experience App is Disney World’s FREE online planning tool that’ll help guide you through your Disney day in SEVERAL ways. ©Shutterstock For example, the app can: Hold onto your advance dining reservations (and help you make new/last-minute ones, too) Give you the ability to purchase (and use) Lightning Lanes throughout your park day (so you can bypass the longest ride lines) Help you skip over the standby lines of quick services AND select merchandise locations, too — thanks to its mobile order/mobile checkout features. Unlock your hotel room (without you needing a physical card key to do so) Get you a boarding group number for a new attraction’s Virtual Queue You can even use it to find water bottle refill stations around the park! Whew! That is a lot, and the My Disney Experience app can even do so much more! © Disney || My Disney Experience We totally understand not wanting to be on your phone all day, so to combat this you can give different roles to different people so not one person is on their phone and missing all the magic. You can assign one person to get a Virtual Queue, one person to make Lightning Lane selections, someone to take Mobile Orders, and someone to make Advance Dining Reservations. Splitting app duties up can also be a great way for everyone to get familiar with the app! © Disney || Mobile Order 11. Ignoring The Virtual Queue Warnings Once again, the My Disney Experience App is critical to obtaining a boarding group with Virtual Queue. Disney World uses Virtual Queues to help manage high demand for the new and super popular rides. A Virtual Queue replaces a physical standby line (although you will still have to wait in line once you obtain a virtual queue.) Virtual Queue As of right now, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind in EPCOT and Tron Lightcycle / RUN in Magic Kingdom only use Virtual Queue. Once Tiana’s Bayou Adventure opens in Magic Kingdom, it will also use the Virtual Queue system. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will use Virtual Queue when it opens on June 28th So how do you join a Virtual Queue? At 7 AM you can join the Virtual Queue from the comfort of your hotel room or anywhere else you may be. For the 1 PM drop you must be INSIDE the park where the ride is. TRON Lightcycle / RUN Virtual Queue You can only join the Virtual Queue for each ride once. While you could have a chance to get a boarding group for two rides in one day, you cannot have another queue open if you wish to get into the Virtual Queue for another ride. To ride both TRON Lightcycle / RUN and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind on the same day, you must also have a park hopper ticket. Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind Another key thing is that once your boarding is called, you only have one hour to return to the attraction to ride (unless otherwise stated), so make sure you get there on time! If you are running late, you can kindly talk to a Cast Member who may be able to accommodate you and your party. This is never guaranteed. TRON Lightcycle / Run We know Virtual Queues can be confusing so here is our full guide! 12. Believing The “Ignorance Is Bliss” Lie Before you decide where you want to eat or add a snack to your “must-try” list you should check our guides first to make sure that the restaurant and food items are worth the money. You can’t go wrong with the classic snacks! This is why we have a WHOLE SERIES of DFB guidebooks that you can pick up over on the DFB store website. These digital books are… AJ’s passion project. And we know how hard it can be to find dining reviews that aren’t somehow laced with biased opinions, leaving you not sure quite what to believe. So that’s why all our food reviews featured across each of these DFB guidebooks are restaurants that the team has paid for out of pocket. We wanna make sure that the reviews we put out are 110% our honest thoughts and opinions, where we consider the pros and cons from every angle instead of through one singular viewpoint. ©DFB So if you’re interested in learning about what to expect from each Disney World meal, what the price ranges tend to look like for all the restaurants, what discounts are available and always at your disposal, how much you should budget back depending on your dining preferences, how each Disney restaurant has changed over time (for better or worse), and SO MUCH MORE, make sure to check out our EVERYTHING BUNDLE — which includes not just our MAIN DFB Guide to Walt Disney World Dining, but also all our OTHER guides, too (like our snack guides, festival guides, holiday guides, and our brand new Disney dining plan guide, as well)! Check out our DFB Guidebooks to plan your next trip! 13. Not Bringing Your Whole Family Disney World is for everyone and Walt Disney’s original intent was for his parks to create a space for all ages to enjoy! Partner’s Statue Disney World is for toddlers, pre-teens, parents, grandparents, and even great-grandparents. Disney World has something for everyone! Animal Kingdom If you do bring the whole family, that means you might have to have adjusted schedules. Like making sure your baby can take a nap, or adding more pool days to relax. There is no “one size fits all” Disney World trip, meaning you and your family can customize it to each other’s needs. Regardless there is something for each person in the family to enjoy. 14. Bringing Your Whole Family Now we know Regret 13 was NOT bringing the whole family and now we are contradicting ourselves. But it is okay if you want to schedule a Disney World trip that does not include the entire family! Cinderella Castle There are times you need a solo vacation or even just a mother/daughter trip. We know it can be scary and you do not want to hurt other people’s feelings, but not having to worry about what each person wants to do can make things a whole lot easier! So here we are, we are permitting you to take that solo OR couple’s trip to Disney World. We think you’re gonna love it. 15. Trying To Do Too Much Disney World is a very big place with a lot to do! If your main goal is to “do it ALL,” you are setting yourself up for failure. You’ve got four theme parks, one shopping district, numerous resorts, two water parks, and even multiple golf courses. Yes, Disney World has TWO Water Parks So what do you do? Make a list of 3-5 must-dos each day and then go with a flow after that! If you need to rest or skip some stuff, then do just that! You can even go outside the Disney bubble and explore a beach! It is your vacation! Take a day to rest at the pool! You spent the money on this trip so you can choose what you wish to do during it! So set realistic expectations and it will make your trip so much better! And just like that you now can wipe any prior Disney regrets off your mind! Planning a Trip to Disney World? 20. Picture this: You just rode Tiana’s Bayou Adventure for the first time and you LOVED IT. So much, in fact, that you want to buy yourself a little souvenir to commemorate the occasion. You head into the new gift shop by the ride to check out all the themed merchandise, find the PERFECT item (maybe it’s that super cute Loungefly…or the firefly that lights up…or it could be the Tiana-themed Minnie ears), and then turn to find the register so you can check out, when all of a sudden you see it. The incredibly long check-out LINE. Critter Co-Op We’re expecting the new ride to be super popular, especially when it first opens, which means the accompanying gift shop will probably also be very crowded. So do you really have to wait in a long line just to buy your Tiana’s Bayou Adventure souvenirs? Not if you know this super handy HACK! Disney has announced that the new Critter Co-Op store (which is right next to Tiana’s Bayou Adventure and will be full of ride-themed souvenirs) will have the handy Mobile Check Out feature, which means you can SKIP those long lines at check-out! Mobile Check Out is a feature on theMy Disney Experience app. Mobile Checkout Using Mobile Check Out, you can scan the barcodes of all the items you want to buy and then pay directly in the app. If you are signed in to your My Disney Experience account with an Annual Pass or DVC Membership linked, your merchandise discounts will be automatically applied. A barcode will pop up after you pay, and you’ll just show that to a Cast Member near the exit to the store so they know you’ve paid, and they’ll give you a bag for all your items! Easy! Mobile Checkout Sign When Tiana’s Bayou Adventure first opens, new merchandise will actually be located over at the Emporium (the big gift shop on Main Street, U.S.A.) instead of at Critter Co-Op. Disney said that the merch will “hop over to Critter Co-Op in Frontierland” shortly after the ride’s opening day. The Emporium has Mobile Check Out, too! We got an exclusive sneak peek at the new Tiana’s Bayou Adventure merchandise, and we think y’all are gonna love it! One of our favorite items is the interactive firefly, which lights up when it’s around other fireflies. The new store Critter Co-Op is actually just one of two Tiana’s Bayou Adventure-themed gift shops. The other one is Tiana’s Bayou General, which looks like it’ll have “groceries, housewares, and dry goods” if the sign that Disney shared a picture of can be taken literally. We’ll have to wait until that one opens to find out what’s inside! ©Disney Tiana’s Bayou Adventure officially opens on June 28th, though some people get to preview the ride EARLY, including Cast Members, Annual Passholders, DVC Members, and D23 Gold Members. You can learn more about those previews here: Disney Cast Member previews on June 3rd and 7th and June 23rd and 26th Disney Vacation Club member previews on June 12th and June 19th Disney World Annual Passholder previews on June 13th, 14th, 15th, 16th, 17th, 18th, and 20th D23 Gold Member Special Ticket preview on June 22nd We can’t wait to go down the bayou with Tiana and her friends. 21. We’re SO CLOSE, friends!! Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at Magic Kingdom is almost here and we’re ready to ride! Tiana’s Bayou Adventure The Princess and the Frog-themed water ride is set to open to everyone on June 28th, 2024 after sets of previews for exclusive groups of Disney fans. Since construction started in early 2023, we’ve been excitedly waiting for the day we got to experience the attraction, and we’re so close! But before we ride, we got an exciting sneak peek at the new merchandise coming to the attraction and RAN to tell you ASAP! There are two new stores that will be opening with the ride (or around the time of its opening) — Critter Co-Op and Tiana’s Bayou General. This is where you’ll be able to find all this amazing new merchandise, and we’re expecting it to be POPULAR. So if you see something you like, be ready to grab it ASAP! Critter Co-Op Thanks to Disney, we got a look at ALL the new merchandise you’ll be able to grab when this new attraction opens, and we’re pretty sure there are a few pieces that you’ll have to be FAST to get your hands on. These 5 items are sure to be popular! Ears There are not one, but two new ears that you’ll be able to purchase when the new ride opens. We had seen a sneak peek of the first ones, which are more of a puffy set of ears with a gold bow and a pretty lotus flower in the middle. Check out those Bayou Adventure ears! ©Disney But that’s not the only set of ears that will be available! The second pair have a special fluorescent glow, so they’ll really light up in the dark. They’re so pretty, and we can’t wait to see them in the dark. The ears are gorgeous with lotus flowers and Princess Tiana’s tiara decorating them. New ears and accessories Loungefly Mini Backpack Of course, the merchandise collection wouldn’t be complete without a Loungefly backpack! This new backpack features the facade of the ride and many of the characters you’ll see along your journey including Princess Tiana, Naveen, Mama Odie, and Louis. New Loungefly It will be the perfect backpack for all who come to love the ride! Spirit Jersey We are sure this new Spirit Jersey is going to be in HIGH demand! New Spirit Jersey The front has the Tiana’s Bayou Adventure logo, while the back seems a bit like a Splash Mountain Easter egg with the image of Louis and some critters heading down the drop in a log. “It’s a joyful celebration” is written on the back, and we couldn’t think of a better way to describe the Mardi Gras party Tiana is throwing and the opening of the ride. Interactive Firefly There is also a really cool toy firefly that will be available to purchase! Cute! This toy functions as a nightlight AND a toy. They communicate with each other on 6 different light frequencies of communication. It can sit in its jar or be out of it “flying” around. The firefly light will last up to four hours before needing to be charge, but if it’s in its jar, it will last even longer! It’s a really cool interactive toy! We can’t wait to grab some of these items officially for ourselves and see them around the parks soon! 22. We got an EXCLUSIVE sneak peek INSIDE the new Critter Co-Op store that’s opening in Magic Kingdom alongside Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, and we’re taking you with us to check out this rethemed shop! Critter Co-Op Critter Co-Op is located where The Briar Patch used to be, and the store has been updated to fit the new Princess and the Frog theme. There’s a LOT of new merchandise coming, and the decorations around it are so fun! Let’s check it all out! Note that the new merchandise themed to Tiana’s Bayou Adventure in Magic Kingdom will actually be located at the Emporium (the big store on Main Street, U.S.A.) when the ride first opens on June 28th. Shortly after the ride opens, all that merch will be moved to Critter Co-Op. You can use mobile merchandise checkout at both the Emporium and Critter Co-Op. The entrance to the shop from the ride side looks like you’re going “backstage.” Going “Backstage” One of the first things you’ll notice in the store is this big Bayou Community Band stage that’s located above the merchandise shelves. (This is where the Splash Mountain critters’ house set-ups used to be.) Bayou Community Band stage Look carefully to spot some instruments up there… A closer look …as well as a sign announcing that it’s currently intermission time, which is why the band isn’t there. “Intermission” This musical theme continues throughout the store with flyers on the walls advertising various bands like the Bayou Community Band… Bayou Community Band …Las Ranitas Verdes… Las Ranitas …The Bayou Bobcats… Byou Bobcats …and Rufus and the Terrapins. Rufus and the Terrapins Over by the candy, you can see all of these bands featured on the list of upcoming shows! Schedule of bands Now, let’s check out the rest of the store. There are all kinds of souvenirs here, from Minnie ears to Loungefly backpacks, pins to jewelry. Shelves Here’s a closer look at one of the display cases that’s showing off some of that jewelry. Jewelry There are lots of apparel options, too! Merchandise We have a feeling those Loungefly bags are gonna be popular. Inside the store Overall, it’s still a cozy little shop! The ceiling still has tree roots covering it, indicating that you’re “underground.” The new store Don’t forget to check out the edible souvenirs, including a line of spices from the Dooky Chase Restaurant in New Orleans. This represents the first time EVER that these spices are being sold outside of New Orleans. Leah Chase is the legendary inspiration behind Tiana from Disney’s The Princess and the Frog movie. Food products There are also snacks and treats like Mardi Gras Popcorn and Gummi Frogs. Yum! You can grab a drink, too, at the refreshment station! Drinks There are some cute nods to the ride and movie inside the shop, like this portrait of Tiana and the critters making gumbo together… Photo …and a pot of gumbo cooking over the fire! (Apparently, the secret ingredient is an old license plate. Who knew?) Gumbo In another corner, you can spot some musical instruments and a record player, along with a newspaper clipping about Louis the Alligator. Decor Overall, we thought the Imagineers did a great job redesigning this space. Cute! But wait — Critter Co-Op isn’t the only new store coming to Magic Kingdom! Tiana’s Bayou General is another gift shop that has been announced by Disney, although they’ve been rather tight-lipped about what will be sold inside. From the sign, we can see that it might have “groceries, housewares, and dry goods.” ©Disney We can’t wait for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure to finally open in Frontierland on June 28th. In case you’re not familiar with this re-theme, here’s a little background info. Disney closed Splash Mountain about a year and a half ago to begin a Princess and the Frog-themed makeover. The ride’s storyline takes place “after the final kiss” in the movie, so it’s a continuation of Tiana’s story. Tiana has made her dream come true by opening her own restaurant, and now she wants to throw a Mardi Gras party for the people of New Orleans to thank them for supporting her restaurant. But she notices that the party is missing a key ingredient, and she needs our help to find it! Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Concept Art ©Disney Guests join Tiana on a trip through the bayou, where we’ll meet up with friends like Louis and Mama Odie. The ride still has its thrilling 5-story drop, and you’ll probably still get very wet! We got an exclusive invitation earlier this year to get an in-person look at some of the new animatronics coming to the ride, including several Tiana animatronics, a Charlotte La Bouff one, and ones for Ralphie (Prince Naveen’s younger Brother), Eudora (Tiana’s mom), and Mama Odie. ©Disney When the ride opens in Frontierland, it will use a virtual queue, meaning there will be no standby line. You’ll need to join that queue on the My Disney Experience app. For more information about how to use Disney World’s virtual queue system, click here! Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will be available as part of Disney Genie+, so if you purchase the skip-the-line service for Magic Kingdom, you’ll be able to reserve a Lightning Lane pass to skip the wait. Note that it’s part of Genie+ and does NOT have its own a la carte Individual Lightning Lane. We’re expecting the ride to be super popular when it opens, so if you do plan on using Genie+ to reserve a Lightning Lane there, make sure to get that one FIRST. Learn all about Disney Genie+ and how to use it here! Yum! Disney has shared that Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will pick up the story of The Princess and the Frog “after the final kiss, and join Princess Tiana and Louis on a musical adventure – featuring some of the powerful music from the film – as they prepare for their first-ever Mardi Gras performance.” ©Disney So, what exactly DOES happen “after the final kiss”? Well, when the film itself ends, Princess Tiana makes her dream come true when she opens her very own restaurant, Tiana’s Palace (just like the one that recently opened in Disneyland)! The story of the attraction, as Disney shares, picks up during New Orleans’ Carnival season, and Tiana is hosting a Mardi Gras Party for the people of New Orleans — the community that has supported her successful restaurant. (The storyline is set about a year after the movie.) Tiana’s at night But Tiana realizes that the party is “missing a key ingredient” and she needs help finding it…And YOU will join Tiana, too, as Disney Imagineers have shared that guests will be active participants coming along with Tiana on this adventure! 25. What’s better than a Disney dessert? A Disney dessert paying homage to a classic Disney ride, of course! Matterhorn Bobsleds Matterhorn Bobsleds is known as the first tubular steel track roller coaster and has been an absolute icon at Disneyland Park since it opened in 1959. Now celebrating its 65th anniversary, this major Disney landmark has stood the test of time through all kinds of expansion and Resort changes. In honor of the attraction’s longevity and importance in Disneyland’s history, Disney is offering a new Matterhorn-themed dessert! Starting June 1st, 2024, Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar at the Disneyland Hotel is now selling the Coconut-Pineapple Dole Whip in a brand-new Matterhorn Bobsleds 65th Anniversary souvenir cup! Coconut-Pineapple Dole Whip The dessert costs $9.50 and can be purchased at Trader Sam’s or its drink window. The ingredients for this new Dole Whip include pineapple Dole Whip and coconut shavings. Head over to the Disneyland Hotel to pick it up! As for taste, we’ve had this Dole Whip before and still find it to be a very refreshing and tropical-flavored snack. Not too different than Disney’s normal pineapple Dole Whip, save the hints of coconut from the shavings, this isn’t a snack that is exclusive to Trader Sam’s — you can literally pick this up at Disneyland. The big difference here is the souvenir cup. Pineapple Dole Whip with coconut shavings Speaking of the souvenir cup, this limited-time dessert is served in a plastic cup with the Matterhorn 65th anniversary, Disneyland Resort, and Trader Sam’s logos. Additionally, one side of the cup features an image of the Matterhorn and its infamous Abominable Snowman. It’s the Abominable Snowman! All in all, this is a really simple dessert in a souvenir cup that justifies the price. If you’re a HUGE Matterhorn fan, we definitely think you should head over to Trader Sam’s and pick one up!
