Extra, extra, read all about it! Seriously, we’re sure Disney World hasn’t had a wink of sleep because they’ve dropped so many new updates this week. If you’ve missed out, this is your chance to catch up! Magic Kingdom I’m back again with another round of WHAT’S NEW UPDATES AT DISNEY WORLD, a rundown on all the epic news and updates that happened at Disney World this past week. This week, we got the 4-1-1 on a NEW addition to Hollywood Studios, a snack MIRACLE at Magic Kingdom, and a chance to preview a highly-anticipated attraction before anyone else! Are y’all ready? Let’s go! We Spotted A NEW (And Colorful!) Addition to Disney’s Hollywood Studios! While Pixar Plaza may be easy to walk past in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, this area recently got a new addition that might catch your eye! Pixar Plaza got a facelift! A colorful new gate has debuted at Pixar Plaza, which is located right before heading towards Toy Story Land, to the left of the Walt Disney Presents attraction. Bright colors and nods to Pixar movies The gates accent both sides of the entrance and are even complete with a Pixar ball on top. It is a lot of fun to try and figure out what movie each of the panels represents! We love the bright colors and hopefully, it makes this area a bit easier to spot for guests Can you name all the movies? In addition to the new gate, you can also find a beautiful Inside Out 2 mural in Pixar Plaza. This mural debuted back on June 10th, when Joy and a bunch of Pixar eats made their way to Disney’s Hollywood Studios too. However, we still think it is such a fun mural dedicated to Inside Out 2. Joy also made her debut in Pixar Plaza back on June 10th. Joy at Pixar Plaza in Hollywood Studios! She can be found where Frozone used to meet, which is the first spot on the left when you walk in. We Witnessed a Snack MIRACLE in Magic Kingdom We’re used to restaurant menu changes and updates — they happen ALL the time, but most recently, Disney World has done some menu changes that we know a LOT of our readers (and us) haven’t been exactly thrilled with. Getting rid of the waffle sandwiches at Sleepy Hollow in Magic Kingdom is a very good example. Columbia Harbour House However, there was another snack that disappeared from a Disney World menu recently, but we’ve got a very important update: HUSH PUPPIES ARE BACK! BEST news ever. As of July 3rd, Hushpuppies are back on the menu at Columbia Harbour House in Magic Kingdom and it’s like they have never left (excuse us while we wipe the tears of joy from our eyes). During our visit, these were NOT listed on the Mobile Order menu (checking on July 5th, they are currently still not listed), but you can get them when you order in person. We love these!!! Of course, we had to put in an order that included hushpuppies — for science! But while we were waiting, we spoke with Cast Members who told us that they’d had a lot of complaints when the hushpuppies disappeared from the menu. Now, everyone is relieved that the hushpuppies are back. They’re available again with the Trio Platter or as a separate side for $4.99 (you’ll get six). A glorious fried miracle! Check out the Most Ridiculous Disney World Food Creation We’ve Ever Seen We got confirmation that previews will be available for the NEW Country Bear Jamboree attraction! Disney Imagineers are updating the Country Bear Jamboree show in Magic Kingdom with “an all-new act.” The attraction is reopening soon at Magic Kingdom, but one lucky group of folks will get to preview it first and we’ve got all the details! Hey, pals! Disney previously announced that the revamped show, which will feature some significant updates, would be opening in the summer of 2024 and later revealed an official opening date of July 17th! We know we can’t wait to check out this newly revamped show, but an exclusive (and lucky!) group of folks will get to experience it FIRST. A new show is coming! That’s right — select members of D23: The Official Disney Fan Club can attend the D23 Gold Mem-bear Gatherin’— Country Bear Musical Jamboree at Magic Kingdom! On July 13th, Disney will host D23 Gold Members at this special event. Tickets are $49 plus a $7 processing fee and you can check out more details below: Admission to Magic Kingdom Park at check-in for the event – admission is only valid for entry immediately following check-in for the specified show time. Private preview showing of the All-New Country Bear Musical Jamboree One (1) commemorative print Pre-show discussion with The Walt Disney Archives and Walt Disney Imagineering Country Bear Jamboree There will be three different showings, so make sure you select the right one when you go to buy tickets: “Bunny’s Bears” (Group #1) – 7 p.m. Showtime “Bubbles’ Bears” (Group #2) – 8 p.m. Showtime “Beulah’s Bears” (Group #3) – 9 p.m. Showtime NEW costumes! Check-in will open at the Transportation and Ticket Center (TTC) an hour and a half before each showtime. There will be a dedicated ticketing booth used to check in D23 Members. Keep in mind that late arrivals to Grizzly Hall will not be accommodated, so plan to arrive on time. If you’re a big fan of the Avatar films, you’re likely a huge fan of Pandora in Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Pandora Many of you also may love the classic movie Titanic, which came out in 1997. Titanic and both Avatar films were produced by a man named Jon Landau. Unfortunately, it’s just been announced that Landau has passed away. Deadline has reported that the Academy Award-winning producer passed away at the age of 63. The news was revealed by Titanic co-star Frances Fisher on social media, when she posted about his passing on Friday, July 5th. ©Getty Images Landau partnered with James Cameron, the director of both Avatar films and Titanic, for 27 years. Officially, he was the producer and COO of James Cameron‘s Lightstorm Entertainment company. Additionally, he also produced Solaris and Alita: Battle Angel, while co-producing Honey, I Shrunk the Kids and Tracy. Before partnering with James Cameron on Titanic, Landau was the head of production at Fox. ©Disney At this time, no additional details are known about his passing. Planning a trip to Disney World can be overwhelming. You need to figure out how you are going to get there, purchase park tickets, plan your dining reservations, and so much more. Cinderella Castle in Disney World’s Magic Kingdom And then you realize you also need to figure out what you need to bring with you while you are in the parks. You don’t want to miss anything, but you also don’t want to be weighed down with unnecessary items. Well, we are here to help, with the nine things you want to make sure you bring with you to the theme parks. If you don’t have Amazon Prime, no worries — you can get a free Amazon Prime Trial right here: Now let’s dive into the items we always bring to the park with us! Make sure you have a FuelRod! FuelRods You will end up using your phone for A LOT of things while you are in Disney World. From taking pictures to looking up wait times, you won’t want to try to find an outlet somewhere when your phone dies. That is where FuelRods come in! These are portable chargers that you can swap out for FREE at Disney World. Pick up a set of these on Amazon so you won’t have to worry what percentage your phone is on! Use them to charge up, and once they are out of juice, just head over to one of the numerous FuelRod kiosks to swap out for a fully charged one. Get FuelRods here! Bring an Owala Water Bottle to stay hydrated! Owala Water Bottle It is no secret that it gets hot in Disney World, and you will likely be getting a lot more steps in than you normally do. It is super duper important to make sure you stay hydrated while you are in the parks, so we always recommend that you bring a water bottle with you. We love this Owala Water Bottle! You can refill this at any water fountain, or stop by a quick service restaurant to pick up cups of ice water to refill it with. It is always a good idea to have easy access to water so you don’t end up dehydrated while you are in the parks. Grab this water bottle here! Stock up on Hawaiian Tropic Mineral Powder Sunscreen! ©Amazon There is a good reason that Florida is known at “The Sunshine State” and unfortunately Disney World has not developed a sun-blocking bubble yet. While you’re in the parks, you’ll want to make sure that you are consistently applying sunscreen to protect yourself from the sun. We recommend always having some sunscreen with you, and we especially love this powder sunscreen from Hawaiian Tropic! It has broad spectrum SPF 30 and is a translucent powder you can use for your face and scalp. Get this sunscreen here! Make sure you have a good rain poncho! Clear Rain Jacket In addition to sunshine, you will also likely encounter some rain while you are at Disney World. Don’t let the rain ruin your day in the park, and make sure you have a rain poncho. You can easily store this rain poncho in your park bag and pull it out whenever the sky unleashes on you. It is longer than many other rain ponchos and even has a good with strings to pull the hood tight! Grab this rain poncho here! Have a first aid kit handy! KeepGoing Travel First Aid Kit While you always hope that nothing bad will happen, it can never hurt to be prepared just in case! We always keep a first aid kit with us that has band-aids, pain medication, and other basic first aid supplies. You never know when you might need a band-aid for a blister on your foot, or some pain medication for a headache. You can also stop by First Aid locations in the park, but we think having a first aid kit with us is a must! Get this first aid kit here! Be prepared with Deodorant Spray! ©Target You will be doing a lot of walking in the parks, and even the strongest deodorant likely won’t be able to conquer sweat all day long. That is why we love bringing a small bottle of antiperspirant spray with us to the parks. It is perfect for applying throughout the day whenever you are feeling a bit stinky or sweaty. It is easy to apply and small enough that it doesn’t take up a lot of space. Get this spray here! Always have a pair of sunglasses on hand! ©Amazon Going back to our previous point, that Florida gets plenty of sun! You will want to make sure you protect all parts of your body, including your eyes. Make sure you always have a pair of sunglasses with you! Your eyes will thank you and you will be so much more comfortable. We love these sunglasses and they come in a huge variety of colors and patterns, so you can find the best ones for your style. Be ready for the day with a Premier Protein Shake! ©Amazon There is so much good food at Disney World, but sometimes you want to be prepared if you aren’t getting food for a bit. Maybe you don’t have a breakfast reservation until 9AM, but you got up at 6AM to get ready for the day. Or maybe you are wanting to find the perfect fireworks spot and not have to give it up for a quick snack. We swear by packing a protein shake with us when we head into the parks. These are a perfect, quick snack that will give you the fuel you need to make it through the day. You can easily throw one in your bag, so you are prepared to curb the hungries. Get this protein shake here! Be prepared for any mess with Flushable Wipes! ©Amazon Last but not least, we don’t think your park bag is complete without some flushable wipes. You may be a bit curious about why we recommend these, but they have so many uses while you are in the parks. They are perfect for cleaning up messes after enjoying a particularly melty treat, or for cleaning up a table, or providing a bit of a refresh to sweaty skin. There are hundreds of places to grab a bite to eat in and around Disney World! World Premiere Food Court Each of Disney’s hotels offers at least one or more restaurants for you to stop by to enjoy during your stay. But every now and then, these restaurants will close for refurbishment. It’s important to stay up to date on which places will be available and which won’t be while you’re on vacation. Speaking of which, one Disney World food court has partially closed! Disney World Hotels World Premiere Food Court — Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort The World Premiere Food Court at Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort is undergoing a bit of refurbishment throughout July! The World Premiere Food Court This food court closed for refurbishment on July 1st and will remain closed until July 31st. While it’s getting a face-lift, you will be able to mobile order from a limited menu on the Disney World app. If you’re planning a stay at this resort in July, this is an important update to note! Of course, other refurbishments continue around Disney World from July 6th through July 13th. Take a peek at what will impact your trip this week! Magic Kingdom Country Bear Jamboree Country Bear Jamboree closed on January 27th, 2024, for a pretty big refurbishment. Disney announced that a NEW show is coming to Country Bear Jamboree, with the bears learning an all-new act. The new show is set to open on July 17th! Hey, pals! New costumes and details have been shared recently that are getting us excited to see the new act! ©Disney We’re getting excited to see the new show, and some of you may get to see it before anyone else! CONFIRMED: D23 Previews Announced for Country Bear Jamboree Reopening in Magic Kingdom Peter Pan’s Flight One of Magic Kingdom’s most popular rides is closing for refurbishment on July 8th! Peter Pan’s Flight Peter Pan’s Flight will be closed until August 21st. While Disney hasn’t commented on the closure, a permit filed for the ride indicates some general construction. We’ll be keeping our eyes open for any more information concerning any changes coming to this popular ride! We Witnessed a Snack MIRACLE in Magic Kingdom, and You’re Gonna LOVE This Update Frontierland Shootin’ Arcade We had to say goodbye to an opening day attraction on June 23rd. Frontierland Shootin’ Arcade The Frontierland Shootin’ Arcade was around for generations and provided simple fun to all who played. Now, the attraction has closed to make room for a new Disney Vacation Club lounge. This lounge will be the third in Disney World, joining one in EPCOT and one at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. Disney has not yet announced when the new lounge will open. Tomorrowland Terrace Tomorrowland Terrace is a quick-service restaurant that has been closed since the 2020 pandemic-related closures, but even before that, this spot was only occasionally open. Beautiful view from Tomorrowland Terrace Once in a while, you’ll see the dining room open as a rest area (and it’s still being used for the Magic Kingdom Fireworks Dessert Parties), but it’s usually all roped off and empty. Tomorrowland Terrace Disney hasn’t announced when this spot could finally reopen, but we’ll be watching for updates. If you’re looking for a nice spot to hang out in Disney World and sit down for a rest, this could be it! No One’s Talking About this NEW Magic Kingdom Cast Member Thing, But They Should Be EPCOT Test Track Test Track closed on June 17th. Disney is giving this ride a BIG makeover! Test Track Disney has shared that the new version of Test Track will take inspiration from the old ride, World of Motion, that was originally there when the park opened in 1982. Other than that, Disney hasn’t shared many other details about the project. We don’t even have a reopening date yet, but we’ll be watching for more updates. What Will Disney World Change at Test Track? Here Are the 5 Biggest Theories Disney Vacation Club Lounge The DVC lounge at the Imagination Pavilion in EPCOT is closed for a short refurbishment. DVC Lounge in EPCOT The lounge closed on June 2nd and will remain closed until July 13th, 2024. While the lounge is closed, a temporary DVC lounge has been set up in the Odyssey pavilion. You will still find snacks, drinks, and places to sit here, though only half the pavilion has been blocked off to be used as the lounge. Temporary DVC Lounge It’s still a great place for DVC members to take advantage of the air conditioning spot to relax. Check out the temporary DVC lounge here! Restaurant Marrakesh Restaurant Marrakesh is currently closed in the Morocco pavilion of EPCOT’s World Showcase, and there’s no word yet on when the restaurant could fully reopen. The restaurant kind of opened on May 1st. It had been functioning as an Annual Passholder lounge, but that experience is now closed. Restaurant Marrakesh We’re watching for updates on when the full restaurant could reopen! Dastardly Deeds Are Happening in EPCOT’s Tiny Train Town Disney’s Hollywood Studios Voyage of the Little Mermaid Voyage of the Little Mermaid is currently closed in Disney World. Voyage of the Little Mermaid Disney is going to introduce a new, updated show in this spot, though it will still be themed to the animated movie The Little Mermaid! The new show will be called “The Little Mermaid — A Musical Adventure” and is coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Fall 2024. ©Disney It will be a “fully reimagined theatrical production inspired by the Walt Disney Animation Studios classic.” NEW LOOK at ‘The Little Mermaid’ Show Coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios! Blizzard Beach Blizzard Beach closed for refurbishment on March 17th. Blizzard Beach While Blizzard Beach is closed, Typhoon Lagoon is currently open. The two water parks often rotate off and on for being open. Disney has not announced when Blizzard Beach might reopen. We’ll be watching for any updates, though! A lot of us on the team are huge fans of Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind in EPCOT. Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind This is the park’s newest attraction and very well may be the most popular attraction in the entire resort (except for those who struggle with motion sickness — this is NOT the ride for you). And it looks like one of our favorite Xandarians FROM the ride just got to hop on for a spin for the first time! Terry Crews, who plays Centurion Tal Marik in the ride, recently visited EPCOT to ride Cosmic Rewind for the first time! ©Disney Disney released a B-roll video of him riding the attraction for the first time (but we can’t hear what song he got! We’re so curious!), as well as took some great photos of him standing near his character in the pre-show room representing Nova Corps! He certainly looks like he had a GREAT time on the ride. ©Disney It looks like he had just as much fun on the attraction as we do, which we love to see! ©Disney We also got to see Dave Bautista, who plays Drax in the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise ride Cosmic Rewind for the first time back in July 2022! Currently, there are only 2 ways to ride Cosmic Rewind: you can snag a spot in the Virtual Queue at 7AM or 1PM, or pay for an Individual Lightning Lane (soon to become Lightning Lane Single Pass on July 24th). Halloween may still be many months away, but the Disney parks have already started preparing! Halloween in Disneyland! We saw tons of new updates released for the Halloween festivities that we will be able to find in both Disneyland and Disney World this year, and tickets have been on sale for the events on each coast for a few weeks now. If you were hoping to head to Oogie Boogie Bash in Disneyland this year, we hope you already got your tickets, because they’re SOLD OUT! Tickets went on sale last month on a few different dates, depending on which group you qualified as: June 25th, 2024: Inspire Magic Key Holders (limited number of tickets available for pre-sale) June 26th, 2024: All Magic Key Holders (limited number of tickets available for pre-sale) June 27th, 2024: General public (limited amount of tickets available) Villains Grove We saw the first night of the party sell out by June 25th (which is wild, since that was before Magic Key Holders and the general public could buy them), and the system had a LOT of bugs and issues that made getting our tickets pretty difficult. Mickey’s Trick and Treat Show Now, however, the system is showing tickets as ALL sold out, and Disney is also not hinting that any more will become available. So if you weren’t able to get tickets, we’re sorry to say that it’s very likely that you’re out of luck. ©Disney Oogie Boogie Bash is a highly anticipated event every year — it’s where Disney California Adventure becomes overrun with some of your favorite Disney villains. Similar to Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party in Magic Kingdom, guests are invited to dress up as they experience some of the park’s attractions after dark, travel along trick-or-treat trails, exclusive snacks, and meet and greets, as well as exciting entertainment that’s only available during the event. Frightfully Fun Parade The Bash officially begins at 6PM and goes until 11PM each night, but those who have tickets for the event can enter as early as 3PM. Disney Cruise Line’s newest island destination just opened, and we had a chance to visit it a few weeks ago! Lookout Cay Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point is Disney Cruise Line’s newest island destination! This destination is very different from Disney’s Private Island, Castaway Cay, but it holds a ton of secrets! Located on the beautiful island of Eleuthera, Lookout Cay features pink sand beaches and turquoise blue water. Lookout Cay focuses more on Bahamian culture rather than making this destination all about Disney. When we visited, we found out the secrets of this new island destination! Lookout Cay An Original Song Was Composed for Lookout Cay When you make the walk on the pier from the ship to the Mabrika Tram Stop, you will hear the song “Ery’ting Cool.” This song was created specifically for Lookout Cay, and it will definitely get stuck in your head! The Pier Walk The song mentions that everything is cool and everything is fine, which is true since you are on vacation and getting to visit the breathtaking island of Eutheria! If you have a chance to visit Lookout Cay, make sure to listen closely to hear the song! Listen for the new song! You Can Visit the Actual Lighthouse Point Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point actually has a lighthouse! While it does not look exactly like the classic Lighthouse we are used to seeing today, it is still cool to visit! Lookout Cay You can visit the Lighthouse by walking on the nature trail to get up close to it or by walking down the family beach. Either way, it makes for a fun photo op to remember your trip to Lookout Cay! Lookout Cay The Tram Narrator is a Real Teacher from the Bahamas Once you make the pier walk, you will make your way over to the Mabrika Cove tram stop. As a bonus secret, Mabrika means “welcome,” which is fitting since Mabrika Cove is the welcome area for Lookout Cay. Hop aboard the tram! Once on the tram, a narrator comes on to tell you about what you can expect during your day at Lookout Cay. Miss Tracy, the narrator, is actually a real teacher from the Bahamas! Miss Tracy, along with Shelly and Lizzie, will also teach you some facts about the island! Listen for Miss Tracy Look for Shelly, Sandy, and their Friends on the Nature Trail As mentioned before, you will get to hear Lizzie, a curly tail lizard, and Sandy, a crab, tell you all about the island! You can actually find little statues of the two of them with their friends once you arrive at Mabrika Cove. Sandy, Lizzie, and their friends! Look for them along the nature trail as well! Who knows you may even see the real animal! On the tram ride over, they teach you that it is good luck if a Money Batmoth lands on you! There is an Emphasis on Nature Preservation Disney really wanted to preserve the natural beauty of the island. Only 16% of the island is actually developed! This helps keep the native landscapes intact. Lookout Cay As for electricity, 90% of the Lookout Cay’s electricity needs are met by an “onsite solar array.” True-True Too BBQ Unlike Castaway Cay, Disney did not dredge out a spot for the ship to dock right next to the island, instead the pier was built to avoid hurting the ocean wildlife and reefs. Around the island you will walk on elevated walkways, this was also done to limit the impact on the island’s landscape. Elevated Walkways While Lookout Cay focuses more on the Bahamian Culture, rather than all Disney, we think these hidden secrets are pretty cool! There are a LOT of truly spectacular restaurants in Disney World, and then there are some that are…well…NOT. Let’s go to the Turf Club! With hundreds of restaurants spread across the property, they can’t all be winners, and we often see the same spots falling to the bottom of the list again and again. Recently, one of those restaurants got an updated menu, so I stopped by to see if it was still as lackluster as we remembered. Come along with me to review The Turf Club Bar & Grill! Atmosphere The Turf Club Bar & Grill is tucked away inside the main building at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort. To get there from the lobby, you’ll need to walk down a long hallway lined with equestrian memorabilia. Gotta go down the hall! Before you come to the restaurant, you walk through the lounge area. Here, you’ll find plenty of casual seating as well as a bar. This is a great spot to sit and chill or watch a game. Lounge area However, if you’re dining at the restaurant, you’ll check in at the host’s stand! The inside of Turf Club Bar & Grill is pretty dark, with most of the decor made of wood and dark colors. There’s a mix of tables and booths throughout the dining area. Dining room And fitting the theme of the resort, you’ll find lots of horse and equestrian memorabilia throughout. We noticed several framed photos and framed pieces of equipment. It’s an interesting restaurant theme, for sure! It’s an interesting theme If you prefer to dine outside, you can request to be seated on the patio. This would be a lovely view on a day with nice weather, especially if you want to watch the golf course. Patio seating So now that we’ve gotten the tour, let’s take a look at the menu! Menu The menu here is kind of varied, with options like French Onion Soup, Charcuterie, Golden-fried Calamari, and Ahi Tuna on the appetizer list. Appetizers For entrees, they’ve got everything from prime rib to salmon to steak to burgers to fried chicken. It’s somewhat of a challenge to find a theme throughout. Entrees The dessert list has a few different options, including the Signature Chocolate Cake, a New York-style Cheesecake, and a Salted Caramel Crème Brûlée. Desserts So now that we know what the options are, let’s order some food! Eats To kick off my meal, my server brought out the bread service, made with white rolls and black salt butter. The rolls were pretty fluffy and light with a tiny bit of crust on the top, and the salted butter added a nice depth of flavor. Ultimately, they weren’t anything too special, but not bad. Bread Service For my appetizer, I ordered the Golden-fried Calamari for $18. It’s served with classic aïoli, Roma tomato sauce, pepperoncini peppers, and lemon. This was fried to a crisp and not too greasy, with a great chew on the calamari itself. Calamari It’s actually kind of spicy because they spread peppers throughout and then the sauce reminded me of a spicy cocktail sauce. The lemon added some freshness to the top layer of the dish and I honestly thought this was quite delicious! YUM I ended up trying out two entrees, and for the first, I got the Pappardelle Scallop Pasta for $35, made with caramelized scallops, and served with asparagus and truffle sauce. The scallops were meaty and tender with a nice sear on the top, lightly sweetened from the caramelization. But that’s kind of where the good things about this entree ended. Pappardelle Scallop Pasta The pasta noodles were a bit overcooked and incredibly sticky — they kept sticking together to the point where it was difficult to twirl them on my fork. There’s not a lot of sauce, so the main flavor in the pasta is buttery and oily. And while the asparagus had a nice chew, it was also pretty bitter. I don’t think I’ll be ordering this again unless they make the sauce more substantial. Needs more sauce! For my second appetizer, I decided to try the Buttermilk-fried Herb Chicken for $28. This is served with mashed potatoes, seasonal vegetables, and herb gravy. The sides were a bit confusing because while the potatoes were creamy and garlicky and SUPER delicious, the corn and pea succotash was one of the worst vegetable dishes I’ve ever had in Disney World. It tasted like someone had accidentally salted it three times, and the flavor was so strong that it spread to other things the succotash touched. Buttermilk Fried Herb Chicken However, the chicken itself was pretty good! It was nice and juicy with a crunchy/crispy breading and a decent amount of salt. I would love to eat the chicken again, just with a different veggie on the side. Inside the chicken Last but not least, I had to get dessert! Of course, I wanted to order the Salted Caramel Crème Brûlée for $11. It’s served with a caramel mocha Biscotti on the side. The presentation is stunning, and tbh, this was absolutely delicious. Salted Caramel Crème Brûlée It’s incredibly creamy and smooth with a strong caramel flavor and a hint of saltiness. The raspberry on top was tart and fresh, and the Biscotti was crunchy and dry with a hint of chocolate flavor. A scoop of dessert. So how did Turf Club fare overall? Overall Well, in the end, I left Turf Club Bar & Grill pretty confused. My appetizer and dessert were both spectacular, but the entrees weren’t really anything to write home about. The pasta was fairly disappointing and the chicken would’ve ranked higher had it not been for the veggies on the side. Turf Club full spread Ultimately, I don’t really think this spot is worth going out of your way to visit, especially when there are so many better options right next door at Disney Springs. If you’re staying here, maybe give it a try once, but it’s definitely not a must-do. Nosh or Not? Make a reservation at Disney World’s horse restaurant if… You’re already planning to be at Saratoga Springs. If you’re staying here or you’re heading to the hotel to golf, this might be a good option for an evening meal that’s convenient. You want a golf course view. One of the best things about this restaurant is undeniably the view from the patio. If a golf course view is your dream, you can check it out! You’re just going for apps and ‘sserts. If you really just want to grab an appetizer and a dessert or a drink, then this might be a fine place to stop and get a bite. Skip the horses and golf and head to Disney Springs if… You’ve got high food standards. The food wasn’t all bad, but it wasn’t all good either. There are definitely better options nearby if you’re willing to head over to Disney Springs. You’re on a budget. This isn’t the cheapest table service spot out there, and there are quick service options that I think offer better value and taste than Turf Club. You’re not planning to be in the area. I wouldn’t make a trek to this resort just to eat here — go to Disney Springs instead! Turf Club Lounge Thanks for coming along on my Turf Club review! Yes, it’s true… the version of Disney Jollywood Nights that debuted at Disney World last holiday season is CHANGING, and one of these changes has us all buzzing. Jollywood Nights When Disney announced the divisive holiday party’s return, they made sure to also confirm several things that would be returning from last year’s event AND confirm a few new things as well. We think one of these new changes could be the highlight of the night and yet no one seems to be talking about it! Disney Jollywood Nights is set to return once again to Disney’s Hollywood Studios this coming holiday season and if you thought you knew this exclusive holiday party already, don’t be so sure so quickly! Sure, Disney’s already confirmed several of the same entertainment elements will be returning from last year’s event and we’re certain they’ll be offering an entire lineup of treats, eats, and sips for you to pick up while attending, too. Ollie the Gingerbread Man at Jollywood Nights! While last year’s holiday party got off to a bit of a rough start that included dealing with severe weather and a few disappointing food choices, it seemed that you just couldn’t keep a good thing down! Full spread at Epic Eats! Disney World is once again bringing back Disney Jollywood Nights on select nights in November and December. If you’re looking to plan a visit for one (or more) of this year’s parties, you can expect Disney Jollywood Nights to be held on the following dates: November 9th, 13th, 16th, 18th, 23rd, 25th, and 30th December 2nd, 7th, 11th, 14th, 18th, and 21st Tower of Terror projections Tickets for this year’s party nights prices will run you between $159 to $179 depending on the date you attend with the highest-priced party dates closest to the end of December. Tickets went on sale to Disney World hotel guests looking to visit during these dates on July 2nd, 2024, however, if you’re not looking to stay at a Disney World hotel for your party night, you’ll be able to purchase your tickets as early as July 10th, 2024! Wristband Party admission will get you entry into Disney’s Hollywood Studios as early as 6PM, a tad earlier than the party’s official start time, to get a jump start on riding a few rides and scoping out those lines for character meet and greets and entertainment options — and yes, Fantasmic! WILL be shown at 6:30PM on party nights so you don’t miss out. Once the party starts, you’ll be able to enjoy all of the exclusive offerings from 7:30PM to 12:30AM. Phineas and Ferb Don’t get us wrong — with all of the rides, shows, characters to see and meet, holiday-themed fireworks, AND dining options available during the party these limited hours for the festivities can make it difficult to see and do EVERYTHING you want to get around to in one night! And now, Disney World’s throwing in another BIG entertainment option that could change up your entire Disney Jollywood Nights plans if you’ve already been plotting your route! Rachel and the Alley Cats Band With the announcement that Disney Jollywood Nights would return, Disney World decided to give us one thing we didn’t see coming — a new skating spectacular featuring international champion skaters set to holiday music! All Disney World has announced so far is that these performances will take place on Hollywood Boulevard with showtimes expected at 8:15PM, 9:15PM, 10:20PM, 11:15PM, and 12:15AM. Jollywood Nights 2024 We don’t know about you but this has us pretty stoked to see performers dancing across a stage (possibly icy?) against the Florida weather and could temporarily make us forget we’re not in the colder wintery weather in Orlando. Since that’s all that’s been announced, Disney World has chosen to stay mum for now on more details. Wouldn’t it be nice if you could sit back, relax, and let someone else whisk you away to a tropical island? Wouldn’t it be pretty heavenly to lounge by the pool while a Disney movie is playing nearby? We’re imagining a drink in hand, a warm slice of pizza, and an ice cream cone for dessert. Really, what we’re dreaming about is a Disney Cruise Line vacation. Anyone else? ©Disney Well, you’re about to have a NEW option if you want to set sail with Disney Cruise Line. A new ship, called the Disney Treasure, is debuting this December! There are so many things to look forward to on this ship, like a Haunted Mansion lounge and a new Moana stage show. But that’s just the beginning! Wanna see what is coming to the Disney Treasure? Let’s dive in! OK, first, the basics. The Disney Treasure will take its Maiden Voyage with passengers on December 21st, 2024. This will be the sixth ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet, and the Treasure is a sister ship to the Disney Wish. This new addition aims to celebrate “Walt Disney’s lifelong love of adventure” with a design style “inspired by the grandeur and mystery of a gilded palace,” like what you might see in Asia, Africa, or Aladdin’s Agrabah. This time, the Disney Treasure will present its own exclusive version of the ride with AquaMouse: Curse of the Golden Egg! ©Disney Additionally, we’re looking forward to all the new lounges and bars coming to the Disney Treasure. There’s the Haunted Mansion Parlor, the Skipper Society, and even a Scat Cat Lounge, inspired by The Aristocats. Just look at this fascinating new drink! ©Disney Clearly, there’s a lot to look forward to on the Disney Treasure, but now that we’re just a few short months away from that Maiden Voyage, let’s check in on the latest construction progress. ©Disney According to Disney’s latest update, the upper decks of the Disney Treasure are a work in progress! The latest progress update reveals that the foundations for one of the six (!!!) pools are now inlaid into an elevated platform. Disney also shared that Funnel Vision is getting ready to be installed. What pops into your mind when you think about Hollywood Studios in Disney World? Hollywood Studios Hollywood Studios is home to some pretty iconic rides like Tower of Terror, Slinky Dog Dash, and Rise of the Resistance. And those aren’t even half of all you can explore and do. That being said, there are some hard truths you need to know about this park. Let’s talk about some of the hard truths about Hollywood Studios that may cause you a bit of frustration, but don’t worry — We are here to help make sure your Hollywood Studios trip is the best ever! The Parking Lot Is Massive Hollywood Studios has a HUGE parking lot (it’s seriously massive). Think big like, “I can’t remember where I parked my car” big! This makes getting back to your car after a long day feel like an eternity, especially if you’re lugging around tired kiddos. Hollywood Studios Parking Lot The best way to overcome this hard truth is to be prepared. If you need to be at Hollywood Studios by a certain time, make sure to leave early so you aren’t trying to rush from one end to the other. Also, if you want to avoid the parking lot altogether, you might want to consider other options like the Skyliner, Disney buses, or even rideshare. Disney World Transportation RULES You Need To Know Before Your Trip The Ride You Want to Ride May Not Be Open This almost goes without saying for any of the Disney World theme parks, the ride you’re dying to go on might not be open. Keep in mind that you can always check for scheduled refurbishments in advance since Disney World usually announces when a ride will be down for a while. But sometimes rides can go down due to technical issues or even the weather at the last moment. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster We’re not going to lie. It can be super frustrating when the ride you’ve been heading to is closed. It’s especially annoying if you’re rope dropping (being one of the first people at the park) only to find out the ride isn’t open. So make sure that you always have a backup plan if your go-to ride isn’t available. Just roll with the punches because sometimes those unexpected changes lead to some pretty cool experiences! Be Prepared If You Want to Ride Slinky Dog Dash Slinky Dog Dash is one of the hottest rides in Hollywood Studios, and for good reason. It’s a fun, family-friendly coaster that throws you back to your childhood “Andy’s room” days. But as we all know, with great popularity comes great responsibility (long wait times). Just be prepared to spend a good chunk of your day in line. Slinky Dog Dash In order to beat the line, here are your options: use a Genie+ reservation, rope drop so you can hit the ride early in the morning, or strategize your park day to minimize wait times. Book These Rides FIRST With Disney World’s New Lightning Lane Multi Pass System! If You’re Looking For Fireworks Like At Magic Kingdom, Don’t Bother Look, Hollywood Studios has some awesome nighttime offerings, like “Fantasmic!” which is incredibly popular. But when it comes to the sheer majesty of a proper fireworks spectacle, you’ll need to either head to EPCOT or Magic Kingdom (where it reigns supreme in terms of fireworks). Happily Ever After If those classic Disney fireworks (like at EPCOT or Magic Kingdom) are a must-have, you’ll want to plan on having your Hollywood Studios day earlier in the trip and save the Magic Kingdom or EPCOT for a nighttime excursion. Read our tips for getting the best view of the fireworks! The Sun Is Brutal Let’s be real, Hollywood Studios feels like a giant concrete jungle. While the aesthetics are on point, all that open space means there’s not a lot of shade to escape the brutal Florida heat. Now that the 4th of July has passed, we are officially moving into spooky season. Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party That means it won’t be long before the Halloween decorations start going up in Magic Kingdom. The first Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is just WEEKS away, and we’re still getting tons of details about this year’s event. One of the biggest questions we’ve had, though, is about the rides that will be open during the party, and there seems to be some confusion about Magic Kingdom’s NEWEST ride, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. The good news is we now have confirmation that the ride WILL be open during the party. Here’s the thing: Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is a limited ticketed event, which means that there are fewer people in Magic Kingdom for the party than you would see on a normal day. That means that lines for rides are relatively short, so it’s a great time to check out those rides. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is new, meaning it’s very popular during the day, so it could be easier to ride it during the party.” Tiana’s Bayou Adventure However, in May, Disney removed Tiana’s Bayou Adventure from the “open rides” list on the My Disney Experience app for Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. We weren’t sure what that meant, but that led to some confusion as to whether Tiana’s Bayou Adventure would be open or not during party hours. Tiana on Tiana’s Bayou Adventure However, we recently checked the Tiana’s Bayou Adventure page on the Disney World website, and it is showing that the ride will be open during the special ticketed event. So if you’ve been wanting to ride down the bayou with Tiana and friends, you’ll have a good opportunity to do so during Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. ©Disney The one thing we don’t know, though, is how you’ll be able to ride Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. Currently, there is no standby line; you can only grab a spot on it during regular hours by obtaining a boarding pass via the virtual queue or by booking a Lightning Lane through Genie+. We have seen newer rides use virtual queues during special events, but Disney has not yet confirmed if that will be available for the ride at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. Let us tell you a little story about something that happens in Disney World from time to time. Think of it like a cautionary tale. Let’s say you’re enjoying a park day at Magic Kingdom. The sun is high in the sky, the wait times are creeping up, and you’re getting hungry. It’s time for a break. But Magic Kingdom’s quick-service options are, well, lame. Cinderella Castle So, you decide to visit one of the nearby Monorail Resorts (Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort, Disney’s Contemporary Resort, and Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort) for a better meal. There’s just one problem. Sorry to leave you on a cliffhanger like that! But we had to pause for dramatic effect. Now, back to the story. Over at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort, Gasparilla Island Grill has a FANTASTIC House-Made Macaroni & Cheese. Seriously. It’s really good. We much prefer this over the food at Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe in Magic Kingdom, for example. House-Made Mac ‘n Cheese So, as you make your way to the Grand Floridian Hotel for that great House-Made Macaroni & Cheese, you jump on the My Disney Experience app to place a mobile order. But when you search for Gasparilla Island Grill, you’re met with a message. It reads, “At this time, mobile ordering from Gasparilla Island Grill is only available to guests staying at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa.” Looks like mobile order is out of the question for now! ©Disney Change of plans. Next, you check the menu at Contempo Cafe, located at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. A similar message appears on your app! Turns out that on a busy day, it’s not so easy to place a mobile order and quickly pick up your food. Of course, you can still visit the restaurant and place your order in person, but keep in mind that mobile order isn’t always an option. ©Disney So, what’s the lesson here? Well, if you’re in a rush and you were hoping to pick up a meal from one of Disney’s popular quick-service restaurants, don’t count on mobile order. Note that this restriction isn’t ALWAYS in place. But, during busy times of year (like right around the Fourth of July), you may see that message pop up on your My Disney Experience app. Contempo Cafe Mobile ordering food can come in handy — it’s a big time-saver — but there are some benefits to ordering in person, too. Sometimes, for example, you may spot a limited-edition snack that isn’t listed on the mobile order menu. We’ve discovered some AMAZING snacks this way before! We can’t believe we’re saying this, but is it possible Disney World doesn’t have enough rules? TRON Lightcycle / Run Don’t get us wrong — Disney World has plenty of rules, written or otherwise. But could it use more? We keep running into a problem when boarding Disney World attractions — especially TRON Lightcycle / Run — and it’s about time we talked about a rule that could fix our troubles. Magic Kingdom’s TRON Lightcycle / Run coaster is a lot of fun, but it does have an issue that isn’t the ride’s fault — guests ignoring boarding instructions. TRON Lightcycle / Run TRON is a semi-enclosed, high-speed launch coaster in Tomorrowland that features special motorbike-themed ride vehicles. This attraction works differently than your typical Disney dark ride, having riders go through a series of steps and precautions before riding. TRON Lightcycle / Run The pre-show and boarding instructors clearly help riders know about locker storage, how to find and open said lockers, how to approach the vehicle you’re assigned to, what to store once on the vehicle, and how to “sync” with your lightcycle ( kneel, lean, and pull the handlebars towards you). It’s all pretty clear-cut and the video and audio do a pretty good job of letting you know what to expect as you are near boarding. However, the one blatant issue remains — people ignore the boarding instructions. ©Disney From fumbling around to breaking rules because they didn’t listen, some guests’ aversion to hearing the rules only leads to more of a delay, wasted time, and, on rare occasions, evacuations. To make matters worse, TRON is resigned to virtual queue access or Individual Lightning Lane purchases ONLY, meaning you stressed out to get a boarding group at either 7AM or 1PM or paid extra just for an opportunity to ride this attraction. So when guests don’t do the little things like pay attention, they’re only making matters worse for everyone else boarding the ride. Get ready to enter the Grid! Not only does paying attention to boarding instructions make the process go by faster, but they’re also super important for your safety which, in our opinion, should make them mandatory to pay attention to. Disney World is full of thrilling attractions that require specific instructions and we can’t stress enough how important it is that you follow these instructions to the letter. If you always make sure to pay attention to your surroundings, follow the rules, and take everyone into consideration YOU are a model Disney World citizen and we thank you! Starting July 8th, flights high above the London sky will be grounded until August in Disney World. Magic Kingdom One of the Magic Kingdom’s most beloved — and often busiest — rides is about to close for a large chunk of the busy summer tourist season. We have the details! Since the first version opened with Disneyland in July of 1955, Peter Pan’s Flight has been one of the most popular attractions in Disney’s portfolio. That continues today, as the ride has been replicated at most Disney resorts around the world, including being an opening day attraction at Disney World. To this day, the ride often has the second-highest average wait time in the park, behind only Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. Peter Pan’s Flight Peter Pan’s Flight will be closing for about a month and a half, beginning on July 8th with a scheduled reopening of August 21st. While Disney has not made any specific comment on the ride’s downtime, a construction permit was filed by Disney Imagineering in May. Generally, these types of permits are reserved for elements that guests will be able to see. The contractor for the project is InterAmerica Stage, Inc., which specializes in stage rigging and machinery, further pointing to work on guest-facing elements of the ride. Peter Pan Peter Pan’s Flight features some of the most well-known set pieces in any Disney attraction, including the pirate galleon ride vehicles soaring over a massive model of London, where Big Ben and Tower Bridge light up the night sky. From there, there’s the well-known descent into Never Land, with its glowing volcanoes and sparkling waterfalls, before encountering Captain Hook. Peter Pan’s Flight The closure of Peter Pans Flight for most of July and August is the highest-profile refurbishment happening at Walt Disney World during this period, but not the only one. Test Track is also closed for a long-term refurbishment at EPCOT, while work continues on replacing the Voyage of The Little Mermaid show at Hollywood Studios with the new The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure. EPCOT is home to tons of exciting and delicious dining options. Walt The Dreamer in EPCOT There are some pretty great table-service restaurants to check out, but we also love the different quick-service locations. One of our absolute favorites for sweets is Karamell-Küche located in the Germany Pavilion. Specifically, if you’re a big fan of caramel and chocolate, this is one snack you NEED to grab ASAP! Over at Karamell-Küche, you can now grab the Mickey Werther’s® Original® Caramel Chocolate Cookie Sandwich for $7.79! That may seem like a bit of a high price to pay for one snack, but it looked SO cute, we knew we had to grab it. Mickey Werther’s® Original® Caramel Chocolate Cookie Sandwich This snack is made of two Chocolate Cookies sandwiched with Werther’s® Original® Caramel, Salted Caramel Buttercream Frosting, and a sprinkle of Sea Salt. We do have to warn you — this snack melts FAST! Seriously, it will make a mess, but it doesn’t change the fact that this snack is delicious. It’s SO CUTE! The chocolate Mickey cookie pieces are so soft and chewy with a light chocolate flavor. The salted buttercream frosting just melts completely when it hits your mouth and will ooze with that slightly salty caramel goodness. It’s incredible, but it doesn’t hold up very well against the elements so eat quickly! However, if you want something that will hold up better, stick to the other cookie sandwiches (which we love just as much as this one!). It melts fast but is SO good! Basically, we think this treat is perfect for everyone as long as they’re fans of chocolate and caramel and don’t mind getting a little messy (or are just willing to grab tons of napkins). If that doesn’t describe you, then this likely isn’t the treat for you, but there are tons of other delicious options at Karamell-Küche! Check out some more reviews! Do you know the dastardly deeds of EPCOT’s tiny villagers? Welcome to the tiny train town! The tiny train town in the Germany Pavilion in EPCOT has been an epicenter of crime and malarkey for many months now, and we’ve been keeping a close eye on it to see what’s going on. As the town’s self-proclaimed mayor, I try to stop by weekly and reign in the criminals and mischief-makers, so let’s see what they were up to this week! First of all, I’ve got to report a derailing! One of our train cars went off the tracks today while passengers were aboard, but I’m happy to say that nobody was injured in this accident. When our team arrived on the scene, officials were already working to get things “back on track.” (Pun totally intended.) A derailing! However, I do have a sneaking suspicion that there is trouble afoot with the railroad employees. This afternoon, while some were diligently working at the railyard, others were seen cavorting in whispered tones — obviously plotting something unscrupulous. Could the derailing be an inside job? I’ll be alerting the town’s law enforcement with my suspicions. Train workers While no citizens were harmed in the derailing of the train, one villager was injured in an accident today near one of our observation towers. It looks as though the gentleman in question fell over the railing…or was he pushed?! After we got him to the hospital, we began an investigation into these suspicious circumstances. In particular, we’re keeping an eye on his ex-girlfriend, who was seen near the observation tower this afternoon as well. Oh no! And speaking of jilted lovers, we’re still on the lookout for a runaway bride at the church! The wedding party and wedding guests have started to arrive, but the lovely lady of the hour is nowhere to be seen. The bride’s parents have issued a plea for their daughter to come back to the church so that they may proceed with the ceremony. (Honestly, if we give it a few days, I’m willing to bet that the groom runs off with the Maid of Honor!) What’s going on here? Ultimately, there’s a lot happening in our town these days, and we’re keeping a close eye on the troublemakers. I’m prepared to make some arrests if we find out who’s behind these potentially deadly accidents. Keep following DFB to stay in the loop with all the tiny train town news! We’ll keep you up to date. * The anarchy within is mostly created by natural occurrences, like giant squirrels, wind, rain, and relatively godzilla-sized lizards who frequent the town; but we find it fun and entertaining to make up fictional stories about what COULD be happening. Disney World is always busy building new things and updating even more. Shades of Green For example, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster in Disney’s Hollywood Studios recently reopened after a lengthy refurbishment with a few changes. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, a brand NEW ride, just opened in Magic Kingdom. It seems like there’s almost ALWAYS some kind of construction going on in EPCOT. This is why we wanted to remind you about a Disney World restaurant closure that will happen soon. Shades of Green is a Disney World resort exclusively for United States military families. If you’ll be staying there soon, we’re reminding you that one of the restaurants at this hotel, Garden Gallery, will soon close temporarily for dinner. Note that the restaurant will still be open for breakfast from 7AM to 11AM. Garden Gallery buffet Dinner at the Garden Gallery usually changes from evening to evening, with themes taking over specific nights (think Mexican Mondays or Italian Tuesdays). However, Shades of Green has said that it is “reevaluating our offerings this summer,” so the restaurant will be closed from July 7th through September 29th. Breakfast at Garden Gallery However, those staying at Shades of Green are encouraged to visit Evergreens Sports Bar and Mangino’s for dinner. Evergreens has a gastro-pub-inspired menu and offers sports bar food like nachos, pizzas, sandwiches, and salads. Mangino’s offers American and Italian fare and has an extensive beverage menu. So you still have options for dinner, if you need them. Mangino’s We’ll be keeping an eye out in case Garden Gallery opens sooner, so stay tuned to DFB for more!
