  1. You don’t have to venture too far from the Disneyland theme parks to find a fun-filled brunch! Disneyland Hotel The Disneyland Hotel, Goofy’s Kitchen, is home to a character dining experience unlike anything else you can get at Disneyland for breakfast and dinner. This restaurant has been a hotspot for guests and locals over the years, so I recently stopped by to try the breakfast/brunch buffet to see if it still holds up and is worth the visit! Atmosphere Once you enter the Disneyland Hotel, you can move past the lobby or pool (depending on which direction you entered) and find plenty of signage directing you to Goofy’s Kitchen. The outside waiting area is bright with ample seating while you wait. Goofy’s Kitchen At the check-in area, keep an eye out for special opportunities to take pictures with characters! Goofy’s Kitchen Once you reach your table, you’ll find silverware, salt, pepper, sugar packets, and a drinks menu. The only seating for the restaurant is indoors and is made up of booths and tables. Goofy’s Kitchen The dining areas are very colorful with lighting fixtures all around (some areas are brighter than others). However, the main draw of dining here is all the characters you can meet! While the characters can vary, I was able to meet Goofy, Pluto, Minnie, Chip, and Dale! DFB David with Dale The characters are ABUNDANT and make the rounds from table to table, making sure no one feels neglected. Hi Minnie! They’re very playful, providing a ton of energy and getting you hyped for a park day! These characters can get into a bit of shenanigans A word of warning: If you’re a bit introverted, these character interactions can kind of be in your face — literally — so dine here with the understanding that it’s difficult to keep to yourself. In fact, the whole experience feels a tad communal, as it’s loud, lively, and vibrant all over the restaurant. Pluto stared into my soul Onto the food! Menu Specialty drinks like cocktails, mocktails, and other beverages not included in the buffet area cost extra and are viewable via a special drink menu. Drink menu Even for breakfast, you’ll find beer, cider, seltzers, wine, and drink flights. Specialty Cocktails You also have access to a bunch of different cocktails and non-alcoholic drinks. ©Disney As far as the actual menu goes, the options are PACKED with all sorts of breakfast and lunch items. If you can think of it, it’s probably there. Speaking of which, let’s talk about what I tried! Eats Since it’s a buffet, you pay one set price per person and then dig in as you so choose. For breakfast, it costs $55 per adult, plus tax and gratuity (which is already included in the bill). Kids cost $33 per child (3-9), plus tax and gratuity. First up, I tried the Create-Your-Own Omelet Station! There’s a whole bunch of toppings you can get thrown in, and I got the works except for jalapeños and chorizo. Create-Your-Own Omelet Station These are made right in front of you and to your personal preferences, making it the most popular station at the buffet. Omelet The egg was done perfectly, and how it tastes is pretty much up to you. I felt like I probably overdid it, as it had too much going on. I would do less next time. I also noticed that veggies, like the olives, stand out in flavor. If you like omelets, you can customize these to your liking, and I definitely recommend trying it for yourself! Inside the omelet I also tried the French Toast, French Toast Stick, and Mickey Waffle! The French Toast was fluffy, light, packed with flavor, and had some light powdered sugar. I probably could’ve used a little bit more sugar, but it was already pretty sweet and — overall — very tasty! As for the French Toast Stick, it had a lot of similar qualities, but was way more crunchy and crispy. If you’re trying to get a quick bite in, this is the way to go. The Mickey Waffle was, of course, a standout. I drizzled a little syrup on it and really took in that yummy vanilla aftertaste the waffle offers. It’s a classic and still worth getting. Some breakfast classics Next, I tried the Eggs Benedict. I LOVE a good Benedict, and this one did not disappoint! The yolk was cooked PERFECTLY and was deliciously runny. The hollandaise was packed with flavor, which mixed well with the ample amount of seasoning on the egg and muffin. I found the ham to be a bit plain but overall, I was really impressed with the quality of this buffet Eggs Benedict. It’s hard to deliver a really good Benedict in the buffet style, but Goofy’s Kitchen did just that. That’s what you want to see On the same plate, I packed on Potatoes, Pork Sausage, Egg White Frittata, Scrambled Eggs, Biscuits and Chicken Gravy, Bacon, and Chilaquiles. I was not too impressed with the Scrambled Eggs, finding them kind of runny and bland. The Bacon was crispy, a bit fatty, and very tasty. The Potatoes were seasoned well and had a peppery taste that complemented the veggies tossed in. Loaded up the plate! The Biscuit was kind of a letdown, as it was more muted in flavor than I expected and a tad too dry. The Egg White Frittata was really overpowered by the marinara, so much so that I couldn’t really taste the abundance of spinach. The Pork Sausage was smoky with a hint of maple, and I really dug it, while the Chilaquiles offered a subtle kick that lingered, as well as a prominent salsa flavor. If you like Mexican food for breakfast, you definitely need to try these! More eats For my next plate, I tried the Pancake and Fresh Fruit. The pancake was pretty standard, and you can customize it as you’d like. The Fresh Fruit definitely tasted fresh, and I got the cantaloupe, pineapple, strawberries, blueberries, and blackberries. Of note, you can use the fruit in your own yogurt or parfait concoction. Pancake and fruit For the lunch portion of my brunch, I opted to try the BBQ Chicken Pizza and Hazelnut S’mores Pizza. Hazelnut S’mores Pizza There were all kinds of interesting pizzas that changed by the minute during my visit. As for the two I tried, the BBQ Chicken Pizza had a great earthiness thanks to the herbs, and the chicken was cooked nicely. The cheese was baked in quite well, and I really enjoyed my slice overall. My only complaint was that it could’ve used more barbecue. The S’mores Pizza was a good dessert pizza that tasted EXACTLY like a s’more. There was chocolate lathered near the crust, making it especially ooey and gooey. Can’t forget the marshmallows, of which there were plenty. This pizza was lots of fun, but you have to save room for it or it’ll make you sick. Pizza slices For my small lunch, I also grabbed some Mac & Cheese as well as a Chicken Strip. Both were pretty standard and inoffensive, but I did prefer the Chicken Strip, as it was seasoned well with a good crunch. Comparatively, I felt the Mac & Cheese was bland and not something I would get again. I could see kids and picky eaters enjoying it, though! Lunch For dessert, I got a Strudel, a Lemon Cake, a Chocolate Chip Cookie, a Cupcake, a Beignet, and Worms in Dirt. Dessert The Strudel had a powerful raspberry flavor and nutty aftertaste. It was deceptively rich, but I liked it. The Lemon Cake was light, and the crispy frosting added a welcome sweetness. It was very simple but tasty, making it really nice after a hefty meal. The Chocolate Chip Cookie had an extra-sweet chocolate with a good ratio of chocolate chips. I thought the cookie was a bit tough, but still yummy. The Cupcake is available in a variety of options, and mine had a buttercream topping and red velvet base. It was very sweet and delicious, but I could see it easily being too sweet for many. The Beignet was surprisingly my LEAST favorite dessert, offering an artificial strawberry flavor. It was liberally powdered, and the texture and consistency were closer to a donut or donut hole. I really wanted to like this, but couldn’t get behind how synthetic it tasted. Worms in Dirt I did, however, LOVE the Worms in Dirt! The pudding was creamy and delicious, and there were plenty of Oreo bits thrown in that still had the cream attached. Mix in gummy worms and you have a dessert that’ll make kids and adults alike very happy! Drinks To drink, I got the Non-Alcoholic Frozen Pineapple-Coconut Slushy for $10.50. This is made with rozen coconut purée and pineapple juice. Non-Alcoholic Frozen Pineapple-Coconut Slushy This drink is good, featuring strong hints of coconut. The pineapple tasted fresh, and it was more of a creamy drink than a slush, which I actually preferred since it was a morning drink. The consistency was something akin to a piña colada, and, overall, I found it to be very tasty and that it works, regardless of the time of day. With that said, it’s a bit overpriced. Non-Alcoholic Frozen Pineapple-Coconut Slushy Nosh or Not Stop on by Goofy’s Kitchen if… YOU’RE STAYING AT THE DISNEYLAND HOTEL. Going here feels like a rite of passage, and one that could really enhance the Disney experience. YOU SEEK CHARACTER DINING. Unlike Disney World, character dining is super limited at Disneyland, so this is one of the few spots you can do so. YOU HAVE A HEARTY APPETITE. The food here is good and plentiful. If you’re ready to eat, and eat, and eat…this is a great spot. You should skip Goofy’s Kitchen if… YOU WANT A MORE PERSONALIZED MEAL. At the end of the day, this is still a buffet, and so it’s likely food you’ll grab may have been sitting out for a bit. Trader Sam’s and Tangaroa Terrace are both a few steps away if you want something more traditional in terms of service and menus. YOU DON’T LIKE CHARACTER INTERACTIONS. Disney characters are really great around adults and kids who have natural aversions to interactions, but it can still be daunting. If you want to avoid the fanfare altogether, seek out a more intimate location like the Broken Spell Lounge. YOU CRAVE A MORE SOPHISTICATED MENU. It’s hard to top breakfast at Goofy’s Kitchen thanks to its massive menu, but you’re still getting the basics here. If you want something a bit more adventurous, head into the parks and check out something like Lamplight Lounge‘s brunch! Overall While the quality can be hit or miss on some items, I was generally very satisfied with my meal. You can easily get your money’s worth and customize your dining experience to match your needs. Service was also fantastic and super attentive. Throw in the adorable characters, and you have a meal you’ll never forget! 2. Residents of Spain and multiple other popular European tourist destinations began protesting against mass tourism recently, reporting that the influx of summer visitors has driven up housing costs in major cities and pushed out locals. AP Photo/Joan Mateu Parra) Protestors in Barcelona and Mallorca, Spain, and in Venice, Italy, and Lisbon, Portugal, used water guns to spray tourists on June 15th. Tensions have continued to grow between anti-tourism activists and short-term rental property owners (like Airbnb), who are believed to be one of the biggest drivers in the increased housing costs. CBS News reported that in 2024 2024, 94 million international visitors visited Spain, almost doubling Spain’s 48 million residents. Davide Bonaldo/SOPA Images/LightRocket via Getty Images The response from Spain’s government included a court recently rejected an appeal by Airbnb that left in place an order that blocks nearly 66,000 rental listings that the government said violated local rules, according to The Associated Press. The government has said that Airbnb’s short-term rentals have exacerbated Spain’s housing crisis as the country brings in a record number of tourists. 4. We’ve tried out countless Disney parks essentials to see if they’re really worth your time and money. Magic Kingdom Some of them, the answer was an immediate no, while others were just okay. A few we’ve been genuinely impressed by, but out of them all, there’s ONE essential that we will continue to shout the praises of for as long as we can speak. And with how rainy Disney World is, trust is, it’s a REAL essential! DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. There’s No Better Poncho Than A Frogg Togg Poncho Frogg Toggs Poncho Disney World is rainy during a large portion of the year, especially during the summer, when lots of families travel to the parks due to school being out. That’s why we recommend bringing a poncho or umbrella with you, and our ULTIMATE favorite is the Frogg Toggs Poncho! Frogg Togg Poncho It comes in a variety of different colors, plus its own carrying bag that you can fit it back into after you’ve used it in the parks. That way, it doesn’t get anything else wet in your bag. Genuinely, this is incredibly waterproof, and we’re impressed every time we use it, because water practically falls right off of it. Frogg Toggs Poncho It makes our rainy days and trips much easier, and we’ve yet to find another poncho or umbrella that we love as much as this one. It’s a worthy investment (but isn’t that expensive to begin with!) because it’ll last you multiple trips. And it doesn’t have to just be used in Disney! Traveling elsewhere and worried it’ll rain? Pack it in your suitcase, and you’ll be good to go. Check it out here! Be sure to stay tuned to DFB for all the latest and greatest necessities for your Disney World trip! 5. If you’re a Disney fan, you know there are a few classic things you simply MUST do when you go to Disneyland Resort. First of all, saying hi to Mickey is imperative. You must get a snack of some sort — churros, popcorn, Mickey bars, you get the idea. You also have to grab a souvenir to commemorate the trip. DUH. Come to Disneyland with us — it’ll be fun! But if you’re tired of the same old Disney magnets and picture frames, fear not. Real Disney experts know that there is one souvenir that NEVER grows old — in fact, it is literally preserving a moment in time! All that for $15? Yes, it exists, and we know where to get it! Allow us to direct your attention to a little souvenir shop called Disneyana, located on Main Street, U.S.A. at Disneyland Park. It’s not your typical Disney theme park gift shop — this place sells one-of-a-kind works of art and limited-edition pieces. Hello from Disneyana! We LOVE Disney artists — every artist has their own style, and there’s truly something for everyone. But as much as we love to look at all the original art around the shop, today, we’re here to talk about a different type of art: portraits. You never know what you might find here! At this point, those hand-cut silhouettes sold along Main Street, U.S.A. at Disney parks around the world are pretty famous. They’re a must-have for EVERY Disney fan! But did you know that there’s another place to get a custom hand-cut silhouette portrait? You can find this experience at the Disneyana gift shop now, too! Look what we spotted! If you’re new here, these artists create a hand-cut portrait of you (or a loved one if you have a clear reference photo) out of paper and scissors. It’s SO interesting to watch them flawlessly turn a simple piece of paper into a person. The talent is UNMATCHED. Silhouette Portrait Studio in Magic Kingdom If you want even more artwork to decorate your home, check out some of their framed pieces, too! Yep — this is ALL made out of cut paper. SO talented! On an especially hot or busy day in Disneyland, taking some time to go inside Disneyana for a portrait is the BEST thing to do! Keep in mind that the price varies depending on your requests — you can purchase the portrait framed or unframed. The silhouette artists are amazing! 6. While EPCOT is well known for its alcohol offerings, thanks to the popularity of “drinking around the world”, some of the park’s water holes are better known than others. Grand Marnier Orange Slush Many of EPCOT’s drink locations, like La Cava del Tequila in Mexico or the Rose and Crown Pub in U.K., are large parts of their pavilions; there are also some relatively “hidden” bars scattered throughout. These are some of our favorites! Sake Bar Japan’s Sake Bar, located in the upper level of the pavilion, between Teppan Edo and Shiki Sai, sells many of the same sakes and cocktails that the more visible Garden House sells… INCLUDING the ever-so-popular Violet Sake. Violet Sake Also, if you’re unable to climb the stairs to reach it, there is a little elevator tucked away in the corner of this two-story building that you’re more than welcome to use to help you get up to the second floor! German Wine Bar If you walk into Weinkeller — over in the Germany Pavilion — too quickly, you might think it’s just a retail shop selling bottles of wine, chocolates, cookbooks, and other German-themed souvenirs. But if you take a closer look, you’ll spot a bar in the back of the shop where you can actually order wine by the glass. Weinkeller If you’re in the mood for a little extra, you can sometimes pair your drink with an Artisanal Cheese Plate or try a Wine Flight, which lets you sample a few different offerings from the bar. Weinkeller options Sangria Bar Tucked away deep into the Morocco Pavilion, you’ll find the Morocco Snack and Beverage Cart! This tiny and fairly unassuming little bar packs quite the punch… and by punch, we mean sangria! You’ll find both red and white sangria for sale here, as well as sangria for two. So you’ll pay one price but get two cups so you and a friend can go halfsies. The sangria itself is sweet without being overly so, and also has a bit of spice and tartness from the fruits that are also served in the cup. White Sangria Champagne Bar The France Pavilion gives you ample drinking around the world choices, but a pretty underrated spot to grab a drink from this place is over at Le Vins de France! Les Vins de France You can find Le Vins de France across from the L’Artisan des Glaces ice cream shop. This bar looks more like a gift shop than a drink stop, which is why those who are drinking around the world might pass it over. But if you DON’T pass it over, you’ll not only find wine here that you can purchase by the glass OR by the bottle to take home with ya, BUT you can also choose from an array of champagne — including champagne flight options, too! Cheers! Some of EPCOT’s best bars are off the beaten path of the park’s World Showcase. Stay tuned to DFB for more on Disney World’s hidden gems. 9. As much as we are in the Disney parks, we see a lot of mistakes that guests make (we still make some ourselves). But, there is one that can really ruin your trip. Disney’s Hollywood Studios A Disney World vacation is packed with excitement — early mornings, thrilling rides, character meet-and-greets, and nonstop fun from park open to fireworks. But with all that magic comes long days, high temperatures, and crowded walkways that can leave even the most enthusiastic guests feeling drained. It’s easy to get caught up in the rush to do everything, but sometimes the smartest way to make the most of your trip is to slow down. A little strategy and a well-timed pause can help you stay energized, beat the heat, and keep the magic alive all day long A trip to Disney World is full of magic, excitement, and unforgettable memories — but it’s also full of heat, crowds, and a lot of walking. That’s why taking a midday break can be one of the smartest decisions you make during your park day. Around 1PM, the Florida sun is at its strongest, lines are long, and the parks tend to feel their busiest. Giving yourself permission to step away for a little while can help you recharge both physically and mentally. Whether it’s to cool down, rehydrate, or simply give your feet a rest, that midday pause can be a game-changer. Crowds For many guests, taking a break in the middle of the day can feel like a waste of valuable park time, especially if you’re working with a tight itinerary or a limited number of days in the park. But pushing through can lead to cranky kids, overheated adults, and an early exit from the parks due to exhaustion. A short break can actually extend your day by giving you the second wind you need to enjoy the evening shows, shorter nighttime wait times, and cooler temperatures. Instead of burning out by 3 p.m., you’ll be refreshed and ready for more magic. Spaceship Earth If you’re staying at a Disney Resort, heading back to your hotel is one of the best ways to take a real break. A swim in the pool, a quick nap in the air conditioning, or even just a shower and change of clothes can do wonders. Disney transportation makes it easy to get to and from the parks, and you’ll return feeling like it’s a brand new day. This is especially helpful for families with young kids who need downtime away from the sensory overload of the parks. Stormalong Bay Not staying on-site or prefer to stay in the park? There are still plenty of ways to sneak in a break. Look for quiet corners, air-conditioned shows, or long, shaded indoor attractions. Think of Carousel of Progress or Hall of Presidents at Magic Kingdom, or The American Adventure at EPCOT. Plan a relaxing table service meal instead of grabbing food on the go to give you time to sit inside and fully enjoy a meal. The key is to listen to your body and take that breather when needed — it may feel small, but it can make a big difference in the overall quality of your Disney day. 10. Being a Disney World Annual Passholder not only gives you year-round access to the park (depending on your pass and its blockout dates), but it also comes with so many different perks! Disney World Annual Pass There are so many different perks and discounts that you can take advantage of as a Passholder at each of the four parks. However, it looks like EPCOT is the place to be as a Passholder this summer! If you’re an Annual Passholder, we’re sure you’ve been going to EPCOT quite a bit lately. About a month ago, Disney released a new Annual Passholder magnet featuring the iconic villain from Sleeping Beauty, Maleficent. The magnet could only be picked up at the Creations shop. They’re still handing them out, so don’t worry if you haven’t got your hands on one yet. Maleficent Magnet! Then Disney opened up its Annual Passholder lounge located in, you guessed it, EPCOT! More specifically, in the Morocco Pavilion in World Showcase. It’s a great place to relax, recharge, and refresh! The lounge offers a charging station, a place to sit in AC, snacks and water, and even an exclusive magical photo op. You won’t want to miss checking this place out! AP Lounge! What we’re really here to talk about, though, is probably our favorite Passholder perk of them all! Did you know that there is an EXCLUSIVE meet and greet for Passholders only? You need to make your way over to a tiny store called Der Teddybar, over in the Germany Pavilion in World Showcase. It’s Der Teddybar! Before you enter, a Cast Member will need to verify you’re an Annual Passholder. After that, you’ll enter to see what surprise is in store for you! You’ll enter this cute little shop with all sorts of crafts, tools, and trinkets around the place. The design on the interior is very cute, and it looks like a store that a group of craftsmen would put together. It definitely gives you a hint at who you may run into inside! Who do you think it could be? Dopey! IT’S DOPEY! That’s right, Annual Passholders can go to EPCOT to visit one of the seven dwarfs. He likes to show off his gem collection, display the flowers he planted, and of course, take pictures! Dopey and a little princess Now Annual Passholders have even more reason to go to EPCOT! Next time you’re at the park, make sure to stop by and say hi to the beloved character. 12. When it comes to dining at Disney World, you’ve got a TON of options. Want something quick and easy? You’ve got it. Something middle of the road and comforting? Yep, that too. And if you’re looking for something upscale and luxurious, you can find that as well. Hurricane Hanna’s Waterside Bar & Grill We recently stopped by the newly reopened Hurricane Hanna’s Waterside Bar & Grill at Disney’s Yacht & Beach Club Resorts to check out some new menu items, and now we’re bringing you our FULL review. Is it worth a stop on your next trip to the Most Magical Place on Earth? Find out here! Atmosphere Hurricane Hanna’s is located in the common area of the Stormalong Bay pool at Disney’s Yacht & Beach Club Resort, offering delicious poolside entrees, snacks, and a large variety of adult beverages in a relaxing and casual nautical environment. Hurricane Hanna’s The only seating here is at the bar or at an outside patio area with umbrellas, since this is a pool bar. You can also take your food and drinks back to your pool chair if you’re staying at one of these hotels! Hurricane Hanna’s seating Keep in mind that only Yacht & Beach Club guests are permitted to swim in Stormalong Bay, but anyone can enjoy a cocktail or food from Hurricane Hanna’s. But enough about the restaurant — what’s on the menu here?! Menu You’ll find a variety of poolside entrees and drinks at Hurricane Hanna’s. When it comes to food options, expect items like grilled chicken sandwiches and burgers, chicken strips, a few salad options, and some more unique items like a seafood roll and loaded crab fries — which is what we’re here to check out! Food menu There’s also an extensive bar menu, with frozen cocktails and some on the rocks, beer, cider, seltzer, and hard iced teas. You can expect classic frozen Disney drinks like the Piña CoLAVA, and the new drink we’re here to try — the Cold Fashioned. Drink menu And now, onto the main event — the food! Eats On this visit, we grabbed the new Loaded Crab Fries — these are made with crab meat, cheese curds, bacon pieces, and bisque for$11.79. Crab, cheese curds, bacon, and fries?! Sign us UP, y’all. They weren’t kidding when they said these things were loaded, either! Loaded Crab Fries Y’ALL. Hurricane Hanna’s is BACK and not messing around because these Loaded Crab Fries are a HIT. 10 out of 10, no notes. There’s a ton of crab meat on this — way more than we were expecting for the price. The sweetness of the crab meat mixed with the saltiness of the fries was a perfect match — this dish is a seafood lover’s dream. Loaded Crab Fries It’s basically like a seafood poutine thanks to the cheese curds, which were firm but not super squeaky, and the bisque serves as a sort of gravy to bring everything together. We also loved the addition of bacon pieces for a bit of a smoky vibe, and the green onions added a nice zing to break up the richness. We will definitely be stopping by to get these again! Not a bad new snack! Of course, we had to order a new drink to go with our fries! Drinks We ordered the Cold Fashioned, made with Woodford Reserve Kentucky Straight Bourbon, citrus and tea slushy, and Angostura Bitters for $18. This is essentially a frozen tea old-fashioned — which is an excellent option to have when you’re lounging poolside and need something to cool you down. Cold Fashioned This was a fun take on an old classic cocktail. It comes with a cherry on top, plus an orange wedge — just like you would expect of a regular old-fashioned. The citrus and tea slushy differentiates it from a regular old-fashioned, and it gives it a bright flavor that pairs really well with the bourbon — especially on a hot day. But, ours did melt quickly — so keep that in mind if you’re thinking about ordering this one! A welcome treat So, is Hurricane Hanna’s worth a visit? Nosh or Not This Disney World restaurant is a must-visit if… You’re staying at Disney’s Yacht or Beach Club Resorts and are looking for quality, quick eats. You’re having a pool day at Disney’s Stormalong Bay Pool. You’re a fan of loaded fries and seafood. You should skip this Disney World spot if… You’re not staying at Disney’s Yacht or Beach Club and don’t plan on being in the EPCOT area. You’re looking for a sit-down meal that’s not entirely outside. You want something more unique than burgers, sandwiches, and fries — even though the ones we tried were phenomenal. Overall Hurricane Hanna’s did not come to play with these new menu items — and since this restaurant is open until 10, it’s a great spot to stop for some late-night eats after you leave EPCOT. We will be thinking about those crab fries for the foreseeable future and may even need to hurry back to get them immediately. The Cold Fashioned was a fun take on a classic drink that bourbon lovers might get a kick out of, too. Hurricane Hanna’s In the meantime, we’ll be on the lookout for more restaurant updates from Disney World and beyond. You can click the image below to get our list and make sure you don’t forget a thing! Here’s an overview of what you can look forward to in July at Disney World! Test Track will reopen It’s the news we’ve all been waiting for! After closing in June 2024, Test Track 3.0 will open on July 22nd, 2025! New Test Track sign! The new version of Test Track will have several new features, including a queue with six exhibits celebrating vehicles and their makers and a new outdoor scene that celebrates technological advances. Also, the exterior and ride vehicles seem to be inspired by the original World of Motion that once occupied the space. Disney has released a few sneak peeks inside, but we’re excited to see everything put together! ©Disney Previews will be available for several groups of Disney fans, including Annual Passholders, Cast Members, Disney Vacation Club Members, Golden Oak Residents, and Club 33 Members, before the ride opens on July 22nd. We’re still waiting for full details from Disney, but keep an eye out if you fit into one of those categories! Disney Just Announced MORE Details About the NEW Test Track Opening Soon at EPCOT Special fireworks show returns Magic Kingdom is home to fireworks nearly every night, but around the Fourth of July, you can catch a RARE fireworks show! It’s called “Disney’s Celebrate America! — A Fourth of July Concert in the Sky” and you can catch it at 9:20 PM on both July 3rd and July 4th. Cinderella Castle lit up for Independence Day This show replaces the usual fireworks show, Happily Ever After, so if that’s a must-see, we’d recommend visiting Magic Kingdom on a different night. However, fans seem to really enjoy the Fourth of July show — Main Street is packed year after year! Beautiful EPCOT has not revealed if it will have a special Fourth of July show yet. Usually, the “Heartbeat of Freedom” segment will play immediately after the regular show, Luminous: The Symphony of Us,” on the evening of July 4th only. We’ll be on the lookout for news around this show! I Paid $480 for a Magic Kingdom Fireworks Cruise, and I Would Do It Again Say goodbye to Tom Sawyer Island and the Rivers of America FOREVER Once you’re done celebrating the holiday, it’s time to say goodbye to a few Magic Kingdom attractions! I know, I know, we JUST had to watch MuppetVision 3D close and now this?! It’s a tough time for Disney fans, but there is so much excitement on the horizon. Rivers of America On July 7th, Tom Sawyer Island, the Rivers of America, and the Liberty Square Riverboat will permanently close, making July 6th the last day to experience them. This area will become a Cars-themed area of Frontierland with new attractions, food, characters, and more. It’s bittersweet, but we’re excited for what’s to come, especially after a recent round of announcements. Don’t worry — there will still be PLENTY of water in Magic Kingdom! Everything You Need to Know About the NEW Cars Area in Magic Kingdom The Walt Disney World Railroad CHANGES That’s not all for July 7th! On that day, the Walt Disney World Railroad in Magic Kingdom will get a pretty significant update. Welcome to Magic Kingdom Due to construction on the new Cars area and the Villains land, the Railroad will no longer circle the entire park. In July, the train will run as a shuttle back and forth between the Main Street, U.S.A. station and the Fantasyland station. This can save you some steps and still get you to the front of the park; however, there will be no stop in the Frontierland area. With this update, Disney mentioned that they will flip some of the benches so that no matter which way you are traveling, you have the option to sit forward or backward! Railroad Disney fans were worried the attraction would close again (we’re still scarred from the lengthy closure during TRON Lightcycle / Run construction), but it will remain open. Yay! 8 CLUES Hiding in the Map of Disney’s NEW Cars Area Coming to Magic Kingdom Magic Kingdom’s NEW Nighttime Parade Debuts We can’t help but freak out because MAGIC KINGDOM WILL HAVE A NIGHTTIME PARADE AGAIN! Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away will debut in Magic Kingdom on July 20th, 2025, and fans are stoked. It’s been years since Disney has had a consistent nighttime parade! Disney Starlight concept art ©Disney Disney Starlight will “add to the legacy” of the Main Street Electrical Parade and SpectroMagic. The parade will be “brought to life by the magic of the Blue Fairy” and include floats themed after Encanto, Frozen, Peter Pan, Coco, and more. It’ll end with this iconic train float featuring a bunch of classic Disney characters. What’s not to love? ©Disney Showtimes have not been revealed just yet, but check the My Disney Experience app on the day of your visit for the most updated information. 15. If your kitchen cabinets are already 85% Disney mugs and you’re not even mad about it, you’re in the right place. Disney Mugs Geeki Tikis just dropped not one, not two, but seven brand-new Disney tiki mugs, and they are WILD. We’re talking pirates, ghosts, yetis, and even Remy the rat in full tropical drinkware glory. These aren’t your average Mickey mugs — these are collector-level cool. And yes, you can get them right now on Amazon and Target (while they last — and trust us, they won’t). Disney Mickey Mouse’s Pirate Ship 18-Ounce Ceramic Mug ©Amazon This one’s the first in a super limited-edition “Ship Series” from artist Eric Tan and Geeki Tikis — and it’s capped at just 500 pieces. It’s giving classic Mickey meets swashbuckling sailor, with bold red glaze, black-wash detailing, and sculpted textures that honestly make this feel more like an art piece than a cup. If you’re into pirate Mickey or just love the idea of sipping your iced coffee out of a ship, this one’s a no-brainer View on Amazon Disney Mickey Mouse’s Tiki Tour Boat 50-Ounce Ceramic Mug ©Amazon You thought 18 ounces was generous? Mickey’s Tiki Tour Boat mug clocks in at 50 ounces — yes, that’s basically a pitcher. The brown glaze gives major retro tiki bar energy, and like the pirate ship, this one’s part of the Eric Tan x Geeki Tikis Ship Series. You’ll want to grab this before collectors scoop up the entire trio. View on Amazon Disney The Haunted Mansion Phineas Ceramic Mug ©Amazon Calling all Happy Haunts fans — the Hitchhiking Ghosts are now immortalized in tiki mug form, and they are hauntingly adorable. It’s a great size (24 oz!), and if you love a Disney mug that’s equal parts cute and display-worthy, this one nails it. View on Target Yeti Ceramic Mug ©Target This icy blue guy is a whole vibe. View on Target Disney Pixar Ratatouille Remy Ceramic Mug ©Target Remy in tiki form is something we didn’t know we needed until now. 16. More monster-related details have emerged about Universal Horror Unleashed, the year-round haunt set to open in Las Vegas later this summer. The attraction, created by Orlando-based Universal Destinations & Experiences, will feature four mazes a la Halloween Horror Nights, as well as themed bars with craft cocktails and a retail location, at the AREA15 entertainment complex. In the Universal Monsters house’s storyline, visitors will see the mausoleum of monster hunter Van Helsing, the Mummy’s tombs, Castle Dracula and the lab home of Frankenstein’s monster and his bride. “You get to follow Van Helsing as he battles all of your favorite classic monsters,” show director Nate Stevenson said in a promotional video for the attraction. “Costuming and makeup have always been a key part of telling the Universal monsters’ stories,” said Lorelei Lee, production manager. “The more details that we’re able to put into these costumes and makeup, the richer the character becomes and the scarier they will be for all of our guests to encounter.” The promotional video includes a half dozen creative types, most of them with HHN credits. And in the end there’s a glimpse of Jack the Clown, an early and legendary Horror Nights icon. The Las Vegas space also includes the Boiler Bar, which Universal describes as the heart of the venue and “a looming mechanical beast pulsing with heat and menace,” according to a news release. “The Boiler is equal parts hellish spectacle and welcome reprieve, offering guests a perfect vantage point for those seeking momentary respite while remaining immersed in the action, enjoying craft cocktails underneath a monstrous flaming machine,” it reads. “You’re not really exposed to one type of horror, one type of character. It is multiple characters in multiple different environments that really become your evening of nightmares,” said TJ Mannarino, vice president for entertainment art and design. Other themed houses at Universal Horror Unleashed, revealed Oct. 31, include The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Blumhouse’s The Exorcist: Believer and Scarecrow: The Reaping. The attraction is set to debut Aug. 14. For tickets and more information, go to universalhorrorunleashed.com. dbevil@orlandosentinel.com View the full article

  18. It was technique, says two-time James Beard Award winner Chef Michael Mina, that distinguished Bourbon Steak nearly 20 years ago when the first location opened in Scottsdale, Arizona. That and fun. At the time, Mina was known mostly for AQUA, his then two-Michelin-starred venue on the West Coast. Mina wanted to shatter that formality a bit. And so instead of something staid-and-steakhouse like a bread basket, he debuted a trio of duck fat fries. Customers received the crisp, complimentary welcome of “three different flavors of french fries with three different sauces, right when they sit down.” A rendering of Bourbon Steak's 10th location, which will open at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin next month featuring unique tableside presentations and unique season-dependent offerings from two-time James Beard winner Michael Mina and his team. (Rendering courtesy Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin)Guests of Bourbon Steak’s new 10th location, set to open midsummer at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin, will be greeted in the same savory manner. “It’s what people have found at Bourbon Steak from the beginning: that we always wanted to have a little fun with it.” The Swan and Dolphin says Mina, who’s been cooking in Vegas for nearly 30 years, is an ideal location for Bourbon Steak for some similar reasons. “People thought I’d lost my mind when I told them I was going to Vegas but even just a month in, I knew I loved cooking there. Because people go there to have a good time.” It’s similar here in Orlando, where the Disney presence should allow for a bit more flair when it comes to tableside presentations. Things like Bourbon’s salt-baked, bourbon-rubbed tomahawk, a special at other venues, will likely be a menu fixture at the Swan Dolphin. “The whole thing is on fire when it comes out,” Mina explains. Same goes for the lobster pot pie served in a large copper vessel. Servers disassemble it in front of the guests, which makes for gorgeous photo- and video-ops and smashing plated presentations. “We’ll have a few tricks up our sleeves here, for sure.” Not the least of which includes the Bourbon team’s longtime practice of butter-poaching its cuts at low temperatures before the high-heat finish. “Back then, we were playing with all these different ways to cook the meat, it was literally months in the test kitchen,” he notes, before they landed where they’ve stayed since. “We never bring it past 128 degrees, so it never releases its juices, staying under rare. Then we sear it on an 1,100-degree wood burning grill.” Celebrity chef Michael Mina works the line at a Bourbon Steak location. The Orlando outpost, he says, will highlight local beef and Florida's unique seasonality while delivering the same experience the brand's fans have come to love. (Photo courtesy Eye Studio)Mina calls it “an aha moment.” “It helped us create a very consistent product with less shrinkage that stayed very tender and was also infused with flavor,” he explains. “We were able to cook steaks differently than we’d ever cooked them in our lives.” Technology, he says, has allowed the process to evolve and improve over time, but the technique is essentially the same. And it’s been a recipe for success. Seafood, of course, will still play a role and the Orlando Bourbon location will boast something no other has before: a grilled seafood tower — a fun old-school steakhouse throwback presented in a new way. Desserts like custard-dipped beignets, brûléed Basque cheesecake and a rich, chocolate peanut butter cake (Mina’s personal favorite) will offer up sweet endings if guests manage to save room. Mina’s looking forward to the experience and will be on property for at least three months, keeping things on track following Bourbon’s planned July opening. “Like Vegas, Orlando is a place where people come to have fun. 19. Universal’s upcoming UK park just took another step forward! Universal Earlier this year, Universal confirmed the company’s long-rumored plans to bring a theme park to Europe, specifically in the United Kingdom. Now, the company has begun actively recruiting, with the Universal Destinations and Experiences website now offering a form for those interested in “future job opportunities.” The form, which according to the BBC, lists potential positions in administration, construction, entertainment, HR, and park and resort operations, states, “it may be some time before these opportunities become available.” This is in line with the park’s potential 2031 opening date. At the time of the project’s announcement in April, Universal claimed that 80% of the theme park’s 28,000 employees would be from Bedford (where the park is planned to be located), central Bedfordshire, Luton, and Milton Keynes. ©Universal via BBC According to an interview with UK Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy at the time of the announcement, “landmark investment” would be “fantastic news” for the economy. Nandy said the project is ”not just about bringing great American creations to Britain, this is also about showcasing great British creations to the world. These are things like James Bond, Paddington Bear, these are things like Harry Potter. We’ve got so much to be proud of.” As currently planned, the 476-acre resort complex would include a “one of the largest and most advanced” theme parks in Europe, a 500-room hotel, and a retail complex. While the concept art for the park is purposely unclear, eagle-eyed fans have been quick to identify what they believe are identifying features for some of the park lands, including areas based on Harry Potter, Jurassic World, and Back to the Future. ©Universal | UK Theme Park Universal’s planned United Kingdom theme park is still years away and pending approvals, but the project took a big step forward with the opening of a job recruitment form on Universal’s website. 21. We know a lot of you live for the vintage Disney vibes — and honestly, same. There’s just something about that old-school animation, hand-drawn poster art, and original park designs that hits different. Steamboat Willie ©Disney If your style leans more “classic Magic Kingdom” than “latest movie merch,” then these retro Disney tees might be your new go-to park outfit staples. We found some seriously fun shirts that feel straight out of a Disney time capsule — in the best way. They’re all on Amazon right now, and yes, they’re giving “pack this for your next trip” energy. DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad Oversized Tee ©Amazon This shirt might be our favorite of the bunch. It’s got that oversized, laid-back fit that makes it perfect for rope drop mornings or just chilling back at the resort after a long day. The graphic is vintage Frontierland at its finest — complete with the mountain, mine carts, and “Join Our Crew 1979” stamped across the front. It’s comfy and the colors are bold but totally wearable. Picture this with biker shorts, your favorite Minnie ears, and a Joffrey’s iced coffee in hand. Big Thunder never looked better. View on Amazon Disney Pixar Toy Story ’95 Retro Distressed Group Tee ©Amazon If Toy Story was your childhood (or your kid’s current obsession), this one’s a total throwback win. The distressed style gives it a perfectly worn-in look, like you’ve had it since ’95 — and it features all the OG characters: Woody, Buzz, Rex, Hamm, the aliens, and Mr. Potato Head. The bold “’95” front and center seals the deal. It’s retro, it’s playful, and it looks awesome whether you’re in Andy’s Backyard at Hollywood Studios or grabbing churros in Fantasyland. View on Amazon Disney Steamboat Willie Retro Poster Tee ©Amazon This is for the true Disney history fans. Steamboat Willie is the one that started it all, and this shirt brings that classic black-and-white cartoon to life in a big way. Mickey at the helm, the steamboat smoke, and that old-school comic strip font? Chef’s kiss. It reads like a vintage concert tee but for Disney animation — and we’re obsessed. Wear it to EPCOT and feel like you’re walking through animation history. View on Amazon Disney The Sword in the Stone Retro Poster Tee ©Amazon Underrated classic alert. Sword in the Stone doesn’t get nearly enough merch love, so when we saw this retro-style poster tee, we knew it deserved a spot here. It’s got everything — Merlin casting spells, Wart mid-glow-up, a dragon, and those wild old taglines like “WHIZ-BANG WHIZZARD of WHIMSY!” It’s quirky, colorful, and has that ‘60s movie poster vibe that screams old-school Disney magic. If your park style is a little offbeat and a lot nostalgic, this is your shirt. View on Amazon Disney Cinderella Vintage Movie Poster Tee ©Amazon Cinderella fans, this one’s for you. The design looks like something pulled straight from a vintage VHS box — complete with the pumpkin carriage, the dreamy castle in the background, and that fancy “A LOVE STORY WITH MUSIC” script. You’ll feel like a walking Disney vault. This tee feels dressy without trying, and pairs perfectly with a flowy skirt or high-waisted jeans for a casual but royal park day look. Also, the phrase “Greatest since Snow White” printed across the bottom? Iconic. View on Amazon Disney Peter Pan Vintage Poster Graphic Tee ©Amazon Peter flying over London. Captain Hook being chaotic. The Darling kids trailing behind. This tee captures that entire movie-in-a-single-frame energy. The vintage poster artwork and soft color palette are giving full-on nostalgia. We love how wearable this one is — it’s bold without being loud, and it looks amazing layered with a light flannel or denim jacket for those cooler Disney nights. And yes, it will 100% live in your heart forever (it says so right on the shirt). 23. Disney’s respect for the U.S. Armed Forces dates back more than a century, beginning with founders Walt and Roy O. Disney, who served during and after World War I. Roy served in the U.S. Navy while Walt served with the Red Cross Ambulance Corps. Their spirit of patriotism carried through the years and later inspired the creation of a special art unit within The Walt Disney Studios during World War II. This group was dedicated to designing customized military unit insignia for the U.S. Armed Forces and their allies, along with supporting auxiliary and home front organizations. Over the course of the war, Disney artists produced approximately 1,200 insignia — each one a symbol of pride and a reminder of home for those serving abroad. “The legacy of supporting our military through this special art program is an important aspect of company history, something we’re honored to help preserve here in the Walt Disney Archives,” noted Kevin M. Kern, Regional Archives Manager for the department. “Each Disney-designed insignia has an interesting story to tell, and each story helps to shine a much-deserved spotlight on those who served our nation through their association with those historical images.” Beloved Disney-designed characters were used for unit mascots, patches, and other memorabilia to inspire and boost morale among U.S. troops and our allies during the war. The lovable and hot-headed Donald Duck was the most requested character for unit insignia, with hundreds of designs created in support of the U.S. war effort and beyond. Rocky the Bulldog’s Homecoming One of those iconic unit insignia is what the U.S. Army now refers to as “Rocky the Bulldog,” a symbol created by Disney studio artists in 1965 for the 3rd Infantry Division of the U.S. Army. For 60 years, Rocky, has been associated with the traditions of the 3rd Infantry Division based out of Fort Stewart, Georgia. The insignia alludes to the “Dogface” nickname given to Soldiers from this division, especially enlisted infantrymen that gained widespread use during World War II. Disney was overjoyed to welcome the 3rd Infantry Division band — which proudly displays “Rocky the Bulldog” as their insignia — to Walt Disney World Resort to celebrate the Army’s 250th birthday. The U.S. Army 3rd Infantry Division band performing in Magic Kingdom park during the U.S. Army’s 250th birthday on June 14, 2025 “We are proud to have Rocky as our division mascot. Rocky represents the best of our troops, and we are overjoyed that we get to showcase our unit’s band and joyful patriotic music to all the guests at Magic Kingdom on the happy occasion of our U.S. Army’s 250th birthday celebration,” said Col. Shawn Bault, commander of the 3rd Infantry Division Artillery, U.S. Army. Disney’s Ongoing Support and Admiration Disney’s admiration for our nation’s heroes is part of the fabric of our company, reflecting a heritage of service and respect that began with our founders. Our company’s respect and appreciation for those who serve, and their families continues today. Disney Salutes the military community throughout the year with support through the hiring, training and support for military veterans through the Heroes Work Here initiative, daily Flag Retreat Ceremonies at Magic Kingdom Park and Disneyland and specially priced Disney theme park tickets and resort hotel rates. 24. There’s nothing we love more than dining in Disney. Port Orleans French Quarter From the classic snacks to the ones to skip, there are so many to choose from in Disney World. We love trying every snack again and again to make sure they’re worth our time and money. So, how does this elusive Disney snack hold up? We’re finding out today! There are so many incredible Disney snacks to try, but they aren’t all created equally. We’re constantly on the hunt for those hidden gems that are worth going out of your way for, and there might just be one over at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter! Port Orleans French Quarter Before you guess it, no, it isn’t the famous Mickey Beignets. Those are a guaranteed hidden gem that we never have to question! We already have our tried and true trust in them. No, this time we’re searching for something over at Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory. Let’s go to Sassagoula! We’re here to test out one of the most elusive Disney treats that has been around for a while! Why is it so hard to find? Well, it’s not there every day. We’re talking about the Creamy Pecan Praline that you can grab for $5.49. The Pecan Praline! This is a Mickey-shaped treat that is fudge-like, pecan-filled candy. Can you say, YUM? If these seem familiar, it’s because they were previously made in-house at French Quarter; however, they’re now only made at Port Orleans – Riverside. This cookie honestly shocked us! The back of the cookie! Our reporter, who tried it, doesn’t love pecans, but this was a huge hit. It’s texturally like a cookie, and it’s super sweet and sugary. It’s filled to the brim with pecans; however, the texture is soft and chewy. It reminded us of biting into brown sugar in the best way possible. The inside! For the price, you actually get two in a bag, which was a pleasant surprise considering how Disney tends to price things. These aren’t always available because they can — and will — sell out. To get these pecan snacks, they are now delivered from Riverside, so if you’re really against waiting, head over to French Quarter’s sister resort. Disney’s Port Orleans Riverside Resort While we get grabbing the cookies ASAP, we don’t think it’s necessary. Wait a bit, have a beignet, and they might be ready for you after the fact. This Disney treat still really holds up, and it being Mickey-shaped makes it even better. Read more about this quick service below!
