This summer is the first time in what feels like forever that you can visit Blizzard Beach AND Typhoon Lagoon! Blizzard Beach For the past few years, only one water park has been open at a time, but this is the summer of water park fun, which ALSO means it’s the summer of water park snacks, and we’re SO here for it. We just heard about three new snacks that we had to try out, and all we have to say is don’t judge a snack by its cover photo — sometimes simple is the way to go. At Typhoon Lagoon, you can grab the DOLE Whip Watermelon with Chamoy and Chili-Lime Spice from the Snack Shack for $7.29. This is DOLE Whip Watermelon topped off with Chamoy and Zesty Chili-Lime Spice, and we were VERY impressed! DOLE Whip Watermelon with Chamoy and Chili-Lime Spice This gave us Disneyland snack vibes in the best way, because it’s rare we get sweet and spicy DOLE Whip like this! This has more of an artificial candy watermelon taste to it, but pairing it with the chili-lime spice and the chamoy really elevates it. It’s got a low heat that certainly isn’t spicy — paired with the watermelon, it’s more sour instead of spicy. We’d 100% get it again! It’s messy, though! You can also grab the Soft-serve Cookie Sandwich for $6.79 from Happy Landings Ice Cream at Typhoon Lagoon. This is Vanilla Soft-serve sandwiched between two Chocolate Chip Cookies and rolled in Rainbow Sprinkles. Soft-serve Cookie Sandwich Is it anything super special? No, but it’s a classic, and we think it’s well worth the price for the size it is. The cookies are soft and chewy with TONS of chocolate chips, and the ice cream paired with the rainbow sprinkles is a great texture. We’d choose it over a Mickey Premium Bar any day! We’re BIG fans! Meanwhile, over at Blizzard Beach, you can grab the S’mores Churro for $9.29 at I.C. Expeditions. This is Churro Pieces topped with Graham Cracker Crumbs, Marshmallow Whipped Cream, Chocolate Sauce, and Toasted Mini Marshmallows. We never thought we’d see loaded churros in a water park, but here we are! S’mores Churro The churros were the tiniest bit tougher than what we would have liked, but we’ll give it a pass since it’s something we’re used to in Disney World. The toasted marshmallows and chocolate drizzle are fantastic, especially because the toasted factor gives it that char flavor you get from roasting a s’more! This was way better than we expected it to be, and we think it’s easily shareable between two people (potentially three if you’re all looking for something light). These were WAY better than we expected! Looking for more recent water park news? Check out our posts below! More Recent Water Parks News! Typically, I’m a Disney World girlie. Me in the Tiny Train Town at EPCOT Mostly, I end up being a Disney World girlie by nature of my job — I work as a Disney World reporter and writer here at DFB. But when I get the chance to visit other theme parks in the area, I jump at it! A little while back, I had a triple whammy week where I went to Disney World for work one day, Epic Universe for work another day, and then ended up with my family at SeaWorld Orlando. It was my first time visiting SeaWorld in nearly 20 years, and I learned a really important lesson! When I arrived at SeaWorld Orlando to start my day, they tried to trick me into spending more money before I even entered the gate! How? With parking upgrades! ©ClickOrlando Now, the other major theme parks in the Central Florida area also offer upgraded parking, but typically, those upcharges will actually get you significantly closer to the front of the park. It can be worth it to pay for the “fancy” parking at Disney World or Universal Orlando if you’re planning to have a long day with lots of walking. Magic Kingdom parking lot But at SeaWorld? They offer THREE different parking tiers, and when I parked, I found that it definitely wouldn’t have been worth the cost to upgrade to the two higher tiers. Why? Well, to compare things, the walk from SeaWorld’s standard parking to the park entrance was still significantly shorter than the walk from Magic Kingdom’s parking lots to security at the Transportation & Ticket Center. SeaWorld SeaWorld Orlando parking starts at $35 per car, and the price can increase depending on which day you visit. You can pay $50 to upgrade to preferred parking or pay a whopping $65 to get “VIP Parking.” That’s WILD! For nearly double the price, you would save yourself a maximum of five minutes of walking. A glimpse at the parking lot from 2020 So if you’re heading to SeaWorld, don’t fall for the parking upgrade! Instead, save that money and snag yourself a fun snack or a souvenir to take home with you. I ended up having a great time during my visit, and even at the end of a long day of walking in the heat, I was glad I didn’t spend the extra cash on parking upgrades. ©SeaWorld Orlando For more theme park updates from the Central Florida area, stay tuned to DFB! We can’t get enough of Disney Springs and all its incredible dining options, and we feel like it keeps getting better and better. Frontera Cocina One of our favorite Disney Springs restaurants just announced a new event happening for a limited time this summer on select days of the week, and if you love live entertainment as much as we do, you won’t want to miss out. Frontera Cocina just introduced a new summer event called Viva La Noche that happens on select evenings on their patio, and we got to see what it was like! Viva La Noche takes place on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday nights from 6:30-10:30 PM. The event sometimes can start as early as 6 PM, but the live entertainment won’t start until 6:30 PM, so that’s something to keep in mind. You can experience this special event now through September 4th! Viva La Noche There are different artists playing each night — Gerardo Manrique plays on Tuesday nights, German Collazos on Wednesdays, and JD Johnny Tsunami on Thursdays. You’ll find that the whole menu is available for you to order from, which we love! The menu! We started out with drinks and grabbed the Margarita Tree for $43, which came with three different drinks! It came with the La Cava Avocado, Agave Maria, and the Malumita. You could pay around $19-$25 for each of these drinks, so to get all three for that price is a great deal. Margarita Tree The Agave Maria, which is made with Tromba blanco tequila and clarified lemon juice, has a great taste to it that isn’t quite sour, but it’s got that lemon tartness to it. It’s nice and light and was easily our favorite of the three. Agave Maria The Malumita was heavier on the peach and pineapple flavors, so if you want something fruity, this is the way to go! It’s made with Contraluz reposado cristalino mezcal, pineapple, Ancho Reyes chile Poblano liqueur, ginger, Italicus, and tortilla ash rim. Malumita We also really loved the La Cava Avocado, even though our reporter isn’t the biggest fan of avocado. Yes, this is the same Avocado Margarita you’ll find at La Cava del Tequila in EPCOT! The floral tones are really prominent here, and the orange liquor really hits you first, which cuts through the avocado. It does have the creaminess consistency that you get from avocados, though, but it works really well together! It’s made with Flecha Azul blanco tequila, melon-orange liqueur, fresh avocado, and lime juice with a hibiscus salt rim. La Cava Avocado Then it was time to EAT! Our first grab was the Chorizo & Avocado Tlayuda for $26, which is a 14-inch gigantic corn masa tostada imported from Oaxaca, Poblano rajas, cotija cheese, chihuahua cheese, avocado-tomatillo salsa, brushed with black beans. Chorizo & Avocado Tlayuda They literally gave us scissors to cut this open with, which was pretty awesome, but this is delicious! There are tons of flavors here, along with a lot of spice, so if you’re not someone who’s a fan of low heat (like cinnamon spice), this likely won’t be for you. All the toppings worked beautifully together, and we’d absolutely get this again! We were big fans! Our second entree was the Carnitas Tacos, which is Gunthorp Farms’ slow-cooked pork shoulder with garlic and lime, black bean refritos with fresco cheese, guacamole, pickled red onions, and salsa verde for $28. Carnitas Tacos This came with three flour tortillas, but since the carnitas itself is served in a separate dish, you can make the tacos however you wish, which we thought was fantastic. The meat is cooked perfectly with a great sizzle to it. It’s incredibly tender and juicy, and when it soaks in those juices and adds on the sauce? We’re drooling over here. Consider us in love We think this is an awesome event to check out, especially to support live entertainment around the resort, so if you find yourself in the shopping and dining district on one of these evenings, make this your dinner plan! When it comes to eating, Disneyland has some of our favorite restaurants and food. Seriously, what can beat a fresh churro and that cheesy garlic pretzel bread? NOTHING, we say! But what about some of those restaurants we don’t talk about much, like Troubadour Tavern in Disneyland’s Fantasyland? Troubadour Tavern Well, we recently stopped by Troubadour Tavern to check out some food and get you a full review of this quick-service dining spot that just happens to reside in The Happiest Place on Earth. So let’s get to our thoughts. Atmosphere You’ll find Troubador Tavern in Fantasyland near “it’s a small world” and next to Fantasyland Theater. The concept is basically a fantasy tavern, but you may notice that it’s really just a counter. It’s a counter There is some shaded seating next to the theater and next to the bathrooms. But there aren’t a lot of tables available, so finding seating is tricky. Not a lot of seating Also, with the Pixar Pals Playtime Party happening in the theater, seating is even harder to come by in the area. If you’re going to grab food here, you might have to take it elsewhere to eat. However, note that you may at least be able to find a seat in the bleachers at the theater, so that’s something. Seating at Fantasyland Theater But enough about the restaurant — what’s on the menu here?! Menu The menu here features some unique snacks that you won’t find elsewhere, like stuffed baked potatoes, mac & cheese bites, and more. Menu And now, onto the main event — the food! Eats First up, we grabbed the Fireside Mac & Cheese Bites for $11.49. These are Fried Gouda Mac and Cheese Bites tossed in Four-Chile Rub. Okay, you already know we’re a sucker for anything Mac and Cheese, right? First, a quick note: you can get these without the chile rub if you’re averse to spicy. We wanted spicy, so we opted in. The spicy does have a kick, but it’s not a BIG kick, so you might actually be okay with it. It’s Disney spicy, not set-your-lips-on-fire spicy. But it does linger a little. Fireside Mac & Cheese Bites The breading is light, but the macaroni and cheese wasn’t quite as creamy as we would’ve liked. This is definitely a fun and easy way to eat mac and cheese, though, plus we think kids will like it. Not as creamy as we like Next up was the Chicken Pot Pie Baked Potato for $11.99. It’s basically Chicken Pot Pie Filling dumped into a Baked Potato with Pie Crust Crumble. So…y’all…this is kinda’ brilliant. Because it tastes exactly like it sounds. There’s so much of the filling, too, that you kinda’ forget you’re eating a baked potato, although you get that extra potato in there. You get lots of peas and carrots, too, plus the chicken is cooked perfectly and seasoned well. Chicken Pot Pie Baked Potato Honestly, this tasted like a home-cooked meal, and Disney just NAILED IT. The pie crust crumbles add a nice texture that pulls it all together. So, Disney, well done, and more of this, please? SO good You can get other baked potatoes here, but while this exists, why would you? Drinks We ordered the Dancing Shimmering Lights to drink, which is a Sweet Berry Lemonade with a Blackberry Topper and Colorful Sanding Sugar for $7.99. The most forward flavor of the drink is almost like blue raspberry. You don’t get a lot of the lemonade flavor. Dancing Shimmering Lights But what takes this over the top is blackberry topper cream that adds a nice thickness to the drink. The top However, WARNING: this drink will turn your mouth blue, but that’s a small price to pay. We’d order it again because it reminded us of an elevated blue ICEE with some carbonation and a slight lemon flavor. REFRESHING, y’all. Nosh or Not This Disney World restaurant is a must-visit if… You want to grab a quick bite. If you’re looking to grab some food quickly, the lines are usually short here, plus you can use Mobile Order. You want to eat on the go. If you want to grab something to eat really quickly on the go, this could be a good option for you. You have picky eaters. Even the baked potato we ordered had a non-spicy version, but you can also get regular baked potatoes, which should please pickier eaters. You should skip this Disney World spot if… You need a place to sit down. If you’re looking for a spot to rest your feet while you eat, this may not be the place because tables and chairs are hard to find in the area. You want more variety. The menu here is very limited, so you only have a few options to choose from. You want a table service meal. Troubadour Tavern is just a quick-service counter so you won’t get that table service dining experience here. Overall The food at Troubadour Tavern usually doesn’t disappoint, and it should have some options for pickier eaters. However, the limited seating could be a problem for those who want to sit and eat at an actual table, although if you look, you can sometimes find seating nearby (although you may not get a table). Given its status as one of the world’s most popular — and most crowded — tourist destinations, Walt Disney World can often be tough for introverts. Disney World’s Magic Kingdom Even Disney Adults who adore the parks usually need to steer clear of, or grin and bear their way through, certain areas, queues, and attractions at each of the resort’s theme parks. The Plaza Gardens Located in front of Cinderella Castle at the Magic Kingdom, the gardens are pretty much always packed with people. Early in the day, they’re the setting for hundreds to thousands of photos, while later they become one of the most densely packed areas to watch Magic Kingdom shows, parades, and nighttime spectacular fireworks. Getting ready for the fireworks In other words, they can be a bit of a nightmare for those who don’t like being around people. While the area is a bit tough to avoid while traversing the park, we would recommend planning to watch parades and fireworks in slightly less crowded locations. Soarin’ Queue When Soarin’ was built at EPCOT back in the mid-00s, the ride’s massive vehicle apparatus was built in a new show building and connected to The Land via a tunnel that serves as much of its queue. The space is a bit narrow, with part of it featuring queue lines that zig and zag at an incline, which can make an introvert feel like people are surrounding them above and below. Soarin’ Queue If that sounds like a nightmare, it might be worth using a Lightning Lane for the attraction. Of note, beginning with the July 22nd reopening of Test Track, Soarin’ will move from being a Tier 1 Lightning Lane to a Tier 2. The Rise of the Resistance Interrogation Room Over at Hollywood Studios, there’s the modern marvel that is Rise of the Resistance. The massive Star Wars experience — calling it a singular ride, honestly, sells it short — features several elements before the actual trackless dark ride portion even begins. Rise of the Resistance However, one of them is an interrogation room, a tight space which puts a full group of guests up close and personal with the first order before they’re “explosively” rescued by some rebels. This room can be a bit overwhelming for introverted guests. Unfortunately, there’s no way to skip passed it and still experience the attraction. The Flight of Passage Ride Vehicle Room The ride vehicles for Animal Kingdom’s premier attraction provide an interesting situation for introverted guests. While the room itself isn’t all that crowded, the experience of sitting on the bike-like ride vehicle and experiencing the ride’s film can be an intensely personal one for some, who can then be thrown off by realizing they shared the experience with a room full of strangers. Flight of Passage Over the Top Meals There are several meals across Disney World that can be a bit… much for introverted guests. Whether it’s the “family” of waiters at Hollywood Studios’ 50’s Prime Time Café demanding guests keep their elbows off the table and clean their plates, or the servers at the Wilderness Lodge’s Whispering Canyon inundating their tables with ketchup, these experiences can be a bit sensory overload for some guests. We’d definitely recommend researching the environment of a restaurant before making a dining reservation. 50’s Prime Time Cafe Introverted Disney adults may want to steer clear of these areas, or at least plan for them, during their next visit to the “Most Magical Place on Earth.” Stay tuned to DFB for more on Disney World planning. If you travel a bit (especially if you’re visiting Disney World on a regular basis), you’ve probably become familiar with some of the budget airlines, especially if you are traveling on a budget and want to save money on your flights. Orlando International Airport Well, one relatively new budget airline, Breeze Airways, has continued to expand its reach throughout the continental U.S. The airline currently has over 30 routes to Orlando alone, and it just added six new routes to another airport out West. Breeze Airways just added six new routes from Provo, UT, according to KSL.com. Five of the airports on the list include airports Breeze hasn’t previously flown to, so the budget airline is expanding its operations. The six new routes include: California Redwood Coast-Humboldt County Airport (Arcata-Eureka, CA) Eugene Airport (OR) Hollywood Burbank Airport (L.A.) Harry Reid International Airport (Las Vegas) Tri-Cities Airport (Pasco-Tri-Cities, WA) Redmond Municipal Airport (Richmond-Bend, OR) Note that a flight to Orlando International Airport from Provo, UT, has been available from Breeze Airways for some time. ©Breeze Airways These new routes will include both direct flights and one-stop/no change flights starting between March 11th and 19th, 2026. To launch the new routes, flights will start at $39 one-way on tickets purchased from now through July 23rd for flights that will take place during the first month of the new routes. ©Breeze Airways Breeze Airways launched in 2021, so it’s still a relatively new airline. However, it continues to expand its service and will have over 300 routes in 76 cities and 34 states as of March 2026. Stay tuned to DFB for more. Big news for EPCOT fans, but it may not seem like it at first glance! EPCOT’s World Showcase For months now, we’ve seen construction happening over in the Italy Pavilion on the main part of the pavilion that catches your eye — St Mark’s Campanile. We’re happy to report that construction is now complete and the walls are down! For months now (since February, to be specific), the replica of St Mark’s Campanile has been behind walls and scaffolding that have been made to look like the icon. Scaffolding from March Now, we know that scaffolding is finally down and the building is back in pristine condition! It’s unclear exactly why Disney had this closed for a months-long refurbishment, especially since no guests are allowed in this building, but hey, we won’t complain. It’s normal for Disney to refresh buildings from time to time. It looks great! It’s back! We’re happy to see this pavilion restored to its former beauty — now it looks even more stunning when you look at it from across the water. More Recent EPCOT News! Four Disney World restaurants received a perfect bill of health in June! The Lunching Pad New data released by the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation shows that several Disney World restaurants had zero violations reported during routine food inspections in June. Routine restaurant inspections are performed periodically at the Florida county level as part of the ongoing food safety system. These inspections are unannounced, so the restaurant doesn’t receive prior notice before the inspector arrives. Tomorrowland According to recent data, there were 986 restaurant inspections across Central Florida in June, and only 173 had no issues reported for the entire month. The list included four Disney World restaurants that received zero violations during their inspections. Specialty Hot Dog In Magic Kingdom, two Tomorrowland locations made the list, with both Auntie Gravity’s Galactic Goodies and The Lunching Pad receiving zero violations. Sundae from Auntie Gravity’s Harambe House, the ultra-exclusive Club 33 location in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, also got a clean bill of health with zero violations in June. Club 33 Location in Animal Kingdom And finally, Typhoon Tilly’s, a counter service location at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park, also made the list of locations with zero violations. DOLE Whip Watermelon with Chamoy and Chili-Lime Spice Before you start totally switching up all of your Disney World dining plans, that does NOT mean that all of the other restaurants around the resort had violations reported in June. Routine inspections aren’t performed at every single restaurant each month, so if you don’t see a particular restaurant on the list, it’s possible that they just didn’t have a June inspection. Tropical Salad In other words, this is great news for the restaurants named, but it doesn’t automatically mean that other Disney World restaurants wouldn’t also get a similarly clean bill of health. Something BIG happened last night in Magic Kingdom…and it has nothing to do with the construction at Big Thunder Mountain Railroad or the construction BEHIND Big Thunder Mountain Railroad or the construction in Frontierland. Magic Kingdom Nope, last night a new nighttime parade made its debut in Magic Kingdom TWO DAYS EARLY. Yes, Disney gave us an early look at the new parade, Disney Starlight: Dream The Night Away, last night, and so many folks are hoping they’ll do it again tonight that Annual Passholders have taken up all the park pass reservations in Disney World for the day. Disney World Annual Passholders have taken up all the park pass reservations for all four parks for today. There are NO park pass reservations left. This comes after Disney Starlight’s early soft opening last night and the fact that park pass reservations for July 20th (the parade’s official opening night) and 21st in Magic Kingdom are completely gone. ©Disney Now, normally, if Annual Passholders visited Magic Kingdom after 2 PM on any given day, they would not need park pass reservations. But that rule is temporarily changing on July 20th, when a park pass reservation will be required to visit Magic Kingdom, regardless of the time of day. With Disney Starlight officially opening on July 20th, this is Disney’s way of controlling crowds heading to Magic Kingdom to see the new parade. Disney Starlight — Whimsy! So there could be some Annual Passholders hoping to catch Disney Starlight this evening. But Disney has not confirmed that the parade would run again tonight, so there’s no guarantee you’ll get to see it until its official opening day tomorrow, July 20th. Disney Starlight — Jiminy Cricket There’s another reason, though, that could be in play here. The reimagined Test Track in EPCOT has been having early previews for Annual Passholders, and today is the last day for that. Likely, it’s a combination of both of these things, plus it being a weekend. Regardless, Disney World might be a bit crowded today, so plan accordingly. Stay tuned to DFB for more. Last night, Disney World unexpectedly debuted its new parade, Disney Starlight: Dream The Night Away, two days early! Whimsy in Disney Starlight The parade officially debuts in Magic Kingdom on July 20th, but last night, July 18th, they announced a surprise preview of the show, and we got to be front and center for it! We shared as much of it as we possibly could on our social media, and while we adored the parade, it turns out that not everyone feels the same way. In fact, some of you are flat out NOT impressed! One comment that particularly caught our eye was from user @fastpass_shopping, who said, “Why does this look so… not good? Everything looks so small and cheap. I’m sure people are thrilled to finally have a parade back, but this looks bad.” Disney Starlight We thought it was just a one-off, but the more we looked through the comments, the more we found that a lot of you feel the same. User @dancarey78 commented, “Come on be real . This is the biggest disappointment ever. The soundtrack is so awful and boring, dead space between the floats and it overall looks cheap.” Guiding the way Turns out, a lot of you enjoy the way the parade looks, but aren’t totally sure about the soundtrack itself. Some asked if this was the official soundtrack, or if it was still in the works, since this was a surprise preview. From what we can tell, this IS the final soundtrack of the parade, and while it does include nods to the Main Street Electrical Parade (it actually opens with that fanfare!), Wishes, and other former nighttime spectaculars, as well as the films that are represented. Personally, we adored the music and feel it’s a new instant classic. In the words of our reporter, “whoever wrote this is an international treasure.” Disney Starlight The final complaint we saw the most on our socials was the fact that Wish is included in the parade. This is arguably one of the least popular Disney films in recent years, so some people aren’t happy it was included in the parade, while other classics like The Little Mermaid got the chopping block. However, considering one of the main characters of Wish is Star, a LITERAL star, and the theme of the whole parade is starlight, we can see why the decision was made! When talking to the parade’s show director and producer, they made it clear that the focus was on stories that featured characters going after their wish or having their dreams come true. While there are so many movies we’d love to see, the parade can’t be too long! Asha from Wish However, we are seeing lots of positive responses to this new parade, and we’d even say about 90% of the feedback is very appreciative and complimentary. Again, we personally are big fans of this new parade, and you know us — we’re critical of things when we really feel they’re not up to par! We think between this new parade and the new Villains Show that arrived in Hollywood Studios earlier this summer, Disney live entertainment is killing it right now, and we really hope to see that continue! Disney Starlight — Peter Pan Float We’ll be in the parks again on July 20th to watch the official debut of the parade, so be sure to stay tuned to DFB! 4 New Rules For Magic Kingdom in 2026 Join the DFB Newsletter to get all the breaking news right in your inbox! Universal’s Back to the Future: The Ride closed nearly two decades ago, yet the once-revolutionary ride is arguably more popular now than it was during its 15 years of operation. ©Universal Pictures Based on the mega-successful film trilogy from cowriters Bob Gale and Robert Zemeckis, the ride was a mainstay at Universal parks through the 1990s and early 2000s. In fact, if an oft-repeated piece of theme park lore is to be believed, it played an indirect role in Universal Studios Florida being built in the first place. According to then-Universal Creative executive Peter Alexander, he was giving his former college roommate, Steven Spielberg (you may have heard of him), a tour of Universal’s creature shop while designers were working on the Kong animatronic for the King Kong portion of the Universal Studios Hollywood Tram Tour in the late-1980s. According to Alexander, Spielberg, who had produced Back to the Future and worked closely with Zemekis and Gale, said at one point, “You guys are pretty good at this. My friend (George) Lucas told me only Disney could do this. He just took me on Star Tours at Disney. He said, ‘You (Steven) screwed up going with Universal. They could never do a Star Tours.’” Then Steven got a devilish glow in his eye and said, “If you guys can do this … why don’t you see what you can do with Back to the Future?” ©Universal Allegedly, Spielberg’s enthusiasm for both the Kong figure and a potential Back to the Future attraction led to Universal reviving the at-the-time-dormant plans for a Florida theme park, with the two being the lead attractions in development for the park. Plans called for a Back to the Future roller coaster style attraction; however, Spielberg and Universal creative believed the fast-moving ride system wouldn’t allow the ride to tell the correct type of story. Recalling how Star Tours served as the catalyst for development, it was decided to opt for a simulator ride system instead. However, instead of using individual simulator cabins like Star Tours, Back to the Future The Ride would see a fleet of ride vehicles within a massive OMNIMAX theater dome with a gigantic screen. ©Universal With development fast-tracked, Back to the Future: The Ride was first announced in 1989 along with the rest of Universal Studios Florida’s attractions, with initial plans calling for it to be an opening day attraction in 1990. However, construction delays resulted in the ride’s opening in 1991. Despite the construction delays, Back to the Future: The Ride was a massive success for Universal, revolutionizing the park and helping it rebound after a first year plagued by technical issues. A Universal Hollywood version – itself plagued by construction problems – opened in 1993, and a third Back to the Future: The Ride was an opening day attraction at Universal Studios Japan in 2001. ©Universal Each of the attractions was identical, with guests entering through the Institute of Future Technology, a fictional organization founded by series star Dr. Emmett L. Brown (portrayed by a returning Christopher Lloyd). Brown introduces his new “8 Passenger DeLorean” that will serve as their ride vehicle. However, before boarding, the original time vehicle is stolen by a time-displaced Biff Tannen (once portrayed by actor Tom Wilson, who joins Lloyd as the only actor from the film series to reprise his role). Brown has guests board the time vehicles — near exact recreations of the vehicle form the film, including all buttons and devices, just expanded to seating for 8– and follow Biff through numerous time periods, including the then-future of 2015 as well as the Ice Age before “bumping” Biff back to the correct time frame. The ride remained a major part of the U.S. parks into the mid-2000s, being heavily featured in advertising and merchandising. However, during this same period, Universal quietly began planning to replace Back to the Future the Ride as part of an initiative to replace older attractions with newer, more “relevant” intellectual properties that had begun with the replacement of Kongfrontation with The Mummy in the early 2000s. The Universal Studios Florida version of the attraction closed in March of 2007, with the Hollywood version following that September. Universal announced that both would be reopened as The Simpsons Ride the following year. Universal Studios Japan’s version of the attraction outlasted its sister-rides by a decade, finally closing in 2017 to be replaced by a reworked version of Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem. The Simpsons Ironically, in the near 20 years since the two American installations of Back to the Future: The Ride closed, the film series has arguably become even more culturally relevant than ever before, with theatrical screenings, streaming and home video releases (several of which featured the ride film as a bonus feature), collectibles, toys, video games, and even a Broadway musical keeping the intellectual property in the public eye even as the first film turns 40. ©Universal This popularity has led many to hope that Universal would either bring back the original attraction or announce a new BTTF-based ride or attraction. In recent years, the company has seemingly tested these waters. The film plays a large part in Universal Florida’s Mega Movie Parade and Cinesational: A Symphonic Spectacular nighttime show. Back to the Future In 2025, Universal Studios Hollywood held a series of special events of Universal Fan Fest Nights, at Universal Studios Hollywood. One of the biggest draws involved a trip to the Back to the Future Courthouse Square set (where the movie was filmed) and featured appearances by characters from the films, as well as Einstein the dog, and the DeLorean itself. ©Universal In addition, the concept art for Universal’s upcoming UK park seems to show an area modeled on Hill Valley, and — in a full circle moment — a Back to the Future-themed roller coaster. A similar area has been rumored to be coming to Orlando as well, with some sources saying it will be part of an Epic Universe expansion, while other sources put it at Universal Studios Florida. None of these rumors have been confirmed or denied by Universal. ©Universal | UK Theme Park Nearly 20 years after its closure, Universal fans are arguably more obsessed with Back to the Future: The Ride than ever before! The magic is always evolving at Disney World, and 2026 is shaping up to be no exception, especially at Magic Kingdom. Magic Kingdom From major entertainment updates to ride refurbishments and changing pathways, guests need a fresh strategy to make the most of their day in the park. Whether you’re a first-timer or a seasoned Disney pro, these rules for Magic Kingdom in 2026 will help you stay ahead of the crowds, cut down on wait times, and soak up all the pixie dust. 1. Stay Up Late There’s a brand-new reason to stay in the park after dark: the Disney Starlight Parade is debuting July 20th, 2025, and it’s already generating serious buzz. This glowing nighttime spectacular blends classic characters with cutting-edge float technology and dazzling light effects that rival anything we’ve seen in years. Not only is the parade a must-see experience, but late-night hours also mean shorter lines across the park. If you can power through, you’ll be rewarded with less-crowded attractions, calmer pathways, and cooler weather—yes, even in the Florida heat! ©Disney 2. Prioritize Refurbished Classics Like Big Thunder Mountain and Buzz Lightyear Two fan-favorite attractions are coming back better than ever in 2026 after extensive refurbishments: Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin. Disney hasn’t shared an exact reopening date just yet for Big Thunder, but they have said it’ll be back sometime next year with “a little bit of new magic” added. Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin is getting a tech refresh with sharper targets, updated visuals, and new ride vehicles. Refurbished rides often attract renewed interest, meaning you’ll want to prioritize these early in your day before lines get long. Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin 3. Ride During the Parade TRON Lightcycle / Run is still a headliner attraction in 2026, but savvy guests know the secret: ride during the parade. While everyone is gathered along Main Street for the Starlight Parade, wait times for TRON (and other popular attractions) might see a drop in wait times. It’s one of the best windows of opportunity you’ll get all day. If you’ve already seen the parade (or plan to watch it on another night), head straight to Tomorrowland about 15 minutes before it starts. This strategy also works for other rides like Space Mountain and Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. TRON Lightcycle / Run 4. Find New Paths — Navigating Construction Around Rivers of America Magic Kingdom is no stranger to construction walls, and 2026 is no different. With ongoing work happening near the Rivers of America to make way for Piston Peak, your usual walking routes might be blocked or detoured. These construction zones can cause unexpected bottlenecks and confusion, especially during peak crowd times or right after shows. Use the cut-throughs! There are lesser-known paths that can save you tons of time, like the cut through next to Aloha Isle to Frontierland. It is finally time! We have been eagerly awaiting the opening night for Disney World’s new nighttime parade, and it is finally here! Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away officially made its debut on the streets of Magic Kingdom, and we have SO much to share with you. Magic Kingdom This brand-new nighttime parade debuted on July 20th, 2025, and we’re bringing you with us for opening night. The parade follows in the footsteps of iconic nighttime spectaculars like the Main Street Electrical Parade and SpectroMagic, and we can’t wait to give you a first look! There are THREE spots that will be your best viewing points. One is standing on top of the train station balcony! This is a unique spot to watch the parade in general, as you’re up high and eye level with some of the tallest points of the floats. The caveat here is that this area is sometimes reserved for VIP tours. The second is standing in front of Main Street Theater with the train station in the background, and the third is standing along the parade barrier in the hub, facing the castle either in the center, near the Partners Statue, or to the left as the parade heads into Liberty Square. By the castle facing down Main Street If you want to see the fireworks and Disney Starlight, you’ll need to see them back-to-back with the parade, regardless of which parade you plan to see. If you want to see the first parade, just stake out your spot for the parade, then hang in there for about 30-40 minutes after to watch Happily Ever After. Hi Flynn and Rapunzel! If you want to see the second parade, be prepared for a less-than-stellar view of the fireworks, but you’ll likely be able to snag a great parade spot without too much trouble as the crowd from the first show clears out. We’re in love! If you don’t want to stake out a spot for the parade, you’ll have the most luck strolling up at the last minute in Frontierland and – on less busy nights – you can even be a little bit late since the parade will take some time to reach you. Leaving Magic Kingdom after fireworks can be difficult, and with the parade, it’s going to be even more chaotic. The closer you are to the exit when the fireworks end, the easier it is to turn around and get outta there before you’re stuck in a 45-minute bus line. What an awesome parade! The 9 PM parade is likely going to be the most popular one — so if you can hold out for the 11 PM one, that’s going to be your best chance of seeing the parade and avoiding crowds. It also happens after the park technically closes, meaning you won’t be wasting time that you could be in lines for rides. Stay tuned to DFB for all your Disney World news! Something NEW has just made its debut in Magic Kingdom — and we’re so excited to share it with you. Goofy, Mickey, and Minnie are READY to light up the night in Disney Starlight! We just got to see Magic Kingdom’s NEW nighttime parade, Disney Starlight: Dream The Night Away, which lit up the night sky on its way from Main Street, U.S.A. to Frontierland (and yes, the parade was LIT, and yes, pun intended). However, what makes this parade even more special is that it has introduced a brand new character to the parks, a train named Whimsy. Yes, a train…and we KNOW Walt would appreciate that. We got a chance to watch Disney Starlight, which includes a lot of beautiful floats featuring some of our favorite Disney characters like the Blue Fairy, Peter Pan, Wendy, Mirabel, Isabella, Bruno, Moana, Elsa, Aurora and Philip, Tiana and Naveen, Cinderella and Prince Charming, and Belle and the Beast, Miguel, Dante, Asha, Star, and Valentino. We saw Moana! The finale of the parade, though, features Whimsy leading a train-themed float with Goofy, Pluto, Donald, Daisy, Dopey, Snow White, Rapunzel, Flynn Rider, Aladdin, Jasmine, Mickey, and Minnie. Whimsy! We’re OBSESSED with Whimsy. We need him on plushies, shirts, popcorn buckets, ears… The details on him are incredible. He has lots of curved lines to make him look like he jumped out of the night sky. He can dance, and he was inspired by vintage Disney animation — specifically, Silly Symphonies! Turning blue He is made from starlight, so obviously, he’s perfect for the parade. During the parade, he spits out steam and makes different faces. He’ll turn the whole train blue and then BAM! He’ll be in full color! Petition to turn the Walt Disney World Railroad to Whimsy? Steam coming out! If you want to catch Disney Starlight, you’ll have two chances every evening: at 9 PM and 11 PM. You’ll also want to know that the parade will actually run in reverse to Magic Kingdom’s daytime parade: Disney Starlight starts on Main Street, U.S.A., and ends in Frontierland. You can even catch Happily Ever After, the Magic Kingdom fireworks show at 10 PM for a full night of spectaculars. Stay tuned to DFB for more. We just got word that Disney’s new nighttime parade is soft launching TONIGHT, July 18th, and do you know what that means? It means that the new merchandise we saw a few months ago is ALSO now available! Goofy, Mickey, and Minnie are READY to light up the night in Disney Starlight! Well, not all of it just yet, but we’re getting there! Disney has a whole new collection for Disney Starlight, and we cannot wait to check it all out as it releases. For now, though, one of the most POPULAR souvenirs is available tonight, and you’ve gotta check it out, because it interacts with the show! Available right now in the Emporium are the new Disney Starlight Bubble Light Wands, and we know they’re about to be a MASSIVE hit with kids of all ages (but especially the younger kiddos)! Disney Starlight Bubble Light Wand This wand looks like Mickey’s gloved hand is holding it up, and the handle itself is themed directly to Disney Starlight. These aren’t just any normal bubble or light-up wand, though — they have so many features we can’t get enough of. For one, you’ll want to keep them on during the parade, because we hear they’ll interact with the floats! Be sure to keep it on during the show! But that’s not all! Yes, it blows bubbles out, of course, but there are also tons of different colors you can turn your wand to. Did you know you can affect the color of OTHER wands too? Choose your color, hold down the button, and point to another wand around you, and that wand will CHANGE TO YOUR COLOR! So many colors to choose from! We cannot wait to see how these interact with the parade itself, and you can bet we’ll be trying them out tonight the moment we can! More Recent Disney Starlight News! Stand up! We’ve got BIG news, people. One of the BEST new things to hit Magic Kingdom just opened early. That’s right. The brand-new Disney Starlight parade is about to soft-open in Magic Kingdom, and we are there for a first look. Magic Kingdom Ah, Magic Kingdom. How we love the way Cinderella Castle glows at night! From the spectacle of the Happily Ever After fireworks show to the charming music playing on Main Street, U.S.A., there’s no better feeling than watching the park come to life at night. Now that the new Starlight parade is officially up and running, let’s see what it will add to the nighttime scene in Magic Kingdom! Come with us for a FIRST LOOK. It’s time to give a warm welcome to the new nighttime parade in Magic Kingdom: Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away! Originally, this parade was set to open on July 20th, but today, July 18th, we heard an announcement right around 7:15 PM in Magic Kingdom that there would be a special soft opening of the parade at 9 PM! Main Street U.S.A. at night The announcement we heard said, “Good evening, stargazers. We have heard your wishes upon a star, and with glad hearts we grant them to come true, as we proudly present a preview of the new nighttime parade, Disney Starlight: Dream The Night Away. Beginning at 9 PM, Disney Starlight can be viewed from the parade route throughout the Magic Kingdom. We look forward to inviting you to dream the night away soon!” Magic Kingdom at night This parade follows in the footsteps of previous (iconic!!!) nighttime spectaculars like the Main Street Electrical Parade and SpectroMagic. If you need a little refresher, here’s a peek at the old Main Street Electrical Parade. Technology has come a LONG way since then (we’re talking both our cameras AND the parade floats!). Main Street Electrical Parade Like any good Disney attraction, this one has a story! As the show begins, Disney Starlight will be “brought to life by the magic of the Blue Fairy” from the Disney animated classic, Pinocchio. Look out for classic characters from Walt Disney Animation Studios and Disney Pixar films — some are even making their nighttime parade debut! ©Disney During its initial opening phase, Disney Starlight will be presented nightly at 9 PM and 11 PM at Magic Kingdom. Listen carefully! Unlike the daytime Festival of Fantasy Parade, the new nighttime parade route will begin on Main Street, U.S.A., and travel towards Frontierland. ©Disney When it comes to the parade, if you want that picture-perfect spot, we have an idea. Typically, the best parade picture comes as the parade comes toward you with Cinderella Castle in the background, but since this parade is going backwards, that’s different this time. Our typical parade spot! One of the best spots will be standing along the parade barrier in the hub, facing the castle, either in the center, near the Partners Statue, or to the left as the parade heads into Liberty Square – even as far as the edge of the Christmas shop. This will get you some great views of the floats as they pass in front of the castle. We would recommend grabbing your spot an hour before the show begins for the best spot possible. ©Disney It’s also important to remember that the fireworks will still be happening each night! The fireworks, which will remain hugely popular, take place between 9 PM and 11 PM parade times. If you want to see the fireworks and Disney Starlight, you’ll need to see them back to back with the parade, regardless of which parade you plan to see. The good news is, the parade spots will work nicely for the fireworks as well, just move closer to the middle of Main Street. Happily Ever After in Magic Kingdom If you want to see the first parade, this should work out pretty smoothly. Stake out your spot for the parade, then hang in there for about 30-40 minutes after to watch Happily Ever After. For watching the second parade, this gets tricky. If you want to see both, we highly recommend seeing the first parade. If most people from the first parade stick around to watch the fireworks, that means those headed to Main Street to see Happily Ever After who DIDN’T stake out a spot for the first parade will be fighting all the people who already had their parade spots and are keeping them for fireworks. Happily Ever After If you aren’t worried about your perfect Main Street spot for the parade or fireworks, consider watching the parade from Frontierland. This is always a great parade watching tip because Frontierland isn’t as flashy as Main Street if you don’t care about the classic background of Main Street. The parade begins on Main Street, so it will take roughly 20 minutes to get to Frontierland. Stake out in Frontierland! Finally, if you aren’t sure which parade to watch, we’ve got you covered! The 9 PM is perfect for anyone looking to watch the fireworks or anyone who can’t make it to the latest show. For most families, 9PM is late, and it will feel even later after a long day in the sun. The 11PM might just not be possible, especially after Happily Ever After feels like a great finale. Trust us, you don’t want to push through tantrum-level exhaustion (from kids AND adults alike) just to have a slightly less crowded parade. Then, no one will enjoy it. If late nights aren’t a problem, the 11 PM might be for you! It will be much easier to find a spot once the main crowds are gone. The 11 PM parade also takes place after the park has closed, meaning you don’t have to waste any precious park time.
