  1. It’s been almost two months since the official closure of Muppets Courtyard in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. This quirky, kitschy section of Disney’s Hollywood Studios closed to make way for a new Monsters, Inc. land (with Disney’s first suspended roller coaster!). Muppets Courtyard behind walls While the land is behind construction walls, you can see the demolition progress and construction depending on where you stand. During a recent visit to Disney’s Hollywood Studios, we noticed that one building is now COMPLETELY gone, so we’re officially saying goodbye now. The Stage 1 Company Store, which used to be the main shopping location in the land, has now officially been demolished. No more Stage 1 Company Store We spotted some construction vehicles in the area, but it looks like taking down the building was one of the first things on Disney’s to-do list. While we are sad to see it go, we’ve gotta be honest — we hadn’t been able to step inside to shop for YEARS, as it was available as a gift shop for the last time back in 2020. We were able to go inside part of the building briefly during Jollywood Nights last year for the Muppets Christmas Carol photo op, but otherwise, this building has been mostly untouched for a long time. Muppets Christmas Carol Photo Op Based on the Monsters, Inc. concept art, it does look like another building will go in this spot. Considering the building was completely demolished, though, it looks like Disney will be starting from scratch with whatever replaces the old store! ©Disney Looking for more recent Hollywood Studios news? 3. There are some unspoken rules when you’re getting dressed to go to Disney World. Main Street, U.S.A. You’ll want to choose shoes that are broken in already and an outfit that goes well with the weather (which is most often hot and swampy). If you’re adding accessories, there are plenty of fun options from Mickey ears to Loungefly bags. But today, we’re going beyond those basic rules and sharing some outfit planning notes you may not think about. Fit the Park Vibe if You Can This first “rule” is more of a “do it if you can, but you don’t have to” kind of thing, but we love when people match the vibe of the park they’re visiting! Think animal prints and Simba shirts for Animal Kingdom, Toy Story and Star Wars for Hollywood Studios, and all things pink, blue, or sparkly for Magic Kingdom. Let’s head on over to Toy Story Land So if you have any outfits that fit a popular land or ride in one of the parks, try to save those outfits for the “right” days! You can still wear your Buzz Lightyear t-shirt to EPCOT if you want, but it’s more fun if you wear it where you can get a picture with the Space Ranger himself. Resorts Are Free Game Now, contrasting with the prior point, resorts are fair game! Even though each of the resorts has its own special theming, you’re probably not going to notice too many people dressing to match their hotel — in fact, you’ll see people wearing clothes for all kinds of different places around Disney World. Wilderness Lodge So it’s not weird to wear your Galaxy’s Edge-themed outfit while walking around Caribbean Beach because, for all the people there know, you’re heading to visit Hollywood Studios that same day! Since people often hop to resorts for a meal or pop back in midday for a break, feel free to wear those park-themed outfits to any of the hotels. Skip the Wrong IPs One of the biggest pet peeves for many Disney fans is when people wear IPs to the parks that Disney doesn’t own. The Minions? Not Disney. Harry Potter? Not Disney. DC Comics and movies? Not Disney! ©Illumination And for the love of all that is good, Shrek is DEFINITELY not Disney-owned. C’mon, guys, the movie’s entire plot basically revolves around making fun of Disney princess films. Just do an extra Google search before you pack to make sure you’re not mixing up the wrong franchises. Absolutely NO Universal Last but not least, we’ve got to share the most important unspoken rule for getting dressed for your Disney vacation…don’t wear your Universal merchandise! Slytherin jerseys, Hogwarts robes, Jurassic Park shirts, Epic Universe sweatshirts, or anything that has the Universal Parks logos. Epic Universe Shirt Disney and Universal are direct competitors — they’re NOT the same company. Keep those Universal Orlando clothes and accessories separate if you want to follow the unspoken dress code! To know what to pack on your next trip, check out the video below! 4. There’s always something changing in Disney World, but sometimes we start to wonder if a few things are being left behind. Magic Kingdom on a summer day Magic Kingdom has seen a ton of updates lately, and even more are coming. But while some areas are getting the glow-up treatment, others seem to be sitting in a weird limbo. We’re starting to get a little nervous about two attractions that have us raising eyebrows lately… and maybe you should be too. Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor This Tomorrowland attraction has always been a hidden gem. It’s interactive, air-conditioned, and genuinely funny. The live improv comedy with Monsters, Inc. characters — especially Mike Wazowski — makes every show a little different, and guests get to text in their own jokes for a chance to have them read during the show. Mike Wazowski! It’s especially great for families with younger kids who might not be ready for big thrill rides. But here’s the issue: Nothing major has changed in years, and the theater is rarely full unless the park is slammed. Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor Now here’s where it gets interesting — Disney’s bringing a Monsters, Inc. land to Hollywood Studios, and in the concept art? A very familiar-looking “Laugh Floor” sign. That’s led to a lot of speculation that this show might be getting relocated — or even replaced — in Magic Kingdom. ©Disney If Laugh Floor becomes part of a fully themed area over in another park, its days in Tomorrowland might be numbered. It wouldn’t be the first time a fan-favorite attraction got moved or swapped out. And if the show’s creative energy is being redirected to something new at Hollywood Studios, then… yeah, we’re worried. Mickey’s PhilharMagic Over in Fantasyland, Mickey’s PhilharMagic has been delivering catchy music and Disney nostalgia since 2003. The 3D musical show follows Donald Duck as he crashes through various Disney movies — The Lion King, Aladdin, The Little Mermaid, and more — all while trying to wrangle Mickey’s sorcerer’s hat. Philharmagic It’s charming, it’s cool (literally), and it’s a great way to rest your feet for 10 minutes. But here’s the deal — the visuals and animation are starting to show their age. The style varies dramatically between scenes, and even with the addition of the Coco segment in 2021, the rest of the show hasn’t really been touched in over two decades. Un Poco Loco scene from Mickey’s Philharmagic For a park that constantly updates experiences to reflect newer characters and movies, PhilharMagic is starting to feel like an old DVD you forgot in the back of a cabinet. We love Donald. We love the music. But this show desperately needs some polish — or at least a few more scenes that tie in newer Disney films. If it doesn’t get attention soon, it could quietly slip into irrelevance while other attractions evolve. Meanwhile… Big Changes ARE Happening at Magic Kingdom While these two shows are showing signs of being left behind, the rest of Magic Kingdom is gearing up for its biggest transformation in decades. Piston Peak (the new Cars-themed land) is officially coming to Frontierland — taking over the space previously occupied by Tom Sawyer Island, Rivers of America, and the Liberty Square Riverboat. Piston Peak ©Disney This new area is inspired by Planes: Fire & Rescue (yes, that Cars spinoff), and will look like a National Park straight out of the Cars universe. Expect massive waterfalls, rugged mountains, car-themed buildings made from salvaged wagon wheels, and shade — lots of glorious shade. Coming to Frontierland at Magic Kingdom, a new area themed to Pixar Animation Studios’ “Cars” will leave Radiator Springs and head to the wilderness with two new attractions including an off-road race. It’ll feature two new attractions: A rally race ride that sends guests on a bumpy, splashy adventure through mountain trails and geysers. The queue will wind through an A-frame lodge and feature a brand-new animatronic ranger character. ©Disney A family-friendly ride designed for “smaller racers” with its own interactive pre-show inside a park ranger station. @Disney Click here for all the latest on Piston Peak Also on deck: Villains Land, a dark, immersive expansion planned just beyond Big Thunder Mountain. This land will be home to some of Disney’s most iconic baddies — from Maleficent and Ursula to Jafar and Hades — and feature two massive attractions, plus themed dining and shopping. Villains Land ©Disney No timeline has been confirmed, but construction prep is already underway. Click here for all the latest on Villains Land Even Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin is getting a major refresh soon. You can expect: A brand new “Buddy” support-bot character Upgraded vehicles with real-time score displays Handheld blasters with laser targeting Interactive targets that light up and react when hit ©Disney Click here for more on the updates to Ranger Spin So, Where Does That Leave Laugh Floor and PhilharMagic? Magic Kingdom’s future is looking bold and packed with innovation — but not everything is moving forward. Laugh Floor and PhilharMagic both feel like they’re either being prepped for relocation, replacement, or possibly retirement. Neither has been a major marketing focus, and when you look at what is coming, their place in the lineup starts to feel a little shaky. Mickey’s PhilharMagic If you love these shows, now’s a good time to go see them. Because with so many new things on the horizon, we wouldn’t be shocked if these two slowly fade into Disney history. We love these attractions — truly. But loving something also means wanting the best for it. And right now, these two feel like they’re either being slowly shuffled offstage or hanging out in the back while the rest of the park gets all the attention. 5. So you know how the holiday season is one of the most busiest seasons for Disney World? Well, in Disneyland, one of the busiest seasons is Halloween Time, which happens this year from August 22nd through October 31st. Storybook Land Canal Boats That’s because Disneyland goes ALL out for Halloween. Both parks get decorations and Oogie Boogie Bash has become something of a legend, which is why tickets generally sell out fast for it. Then there are the TONS of Halloween snacks that arrive throughout the resort, so yes, people flock to Disneyland for Halloween. If you’re one of those people, though, you’re going to need to know about some ride closures that are also happening during that time. Disneyland In Disneyland Park, the Casey Jr. Circus Train in Fantasyland is currently closed for refurbishment. Disney has not yet announced a reopening date for the attraction. Casey Jr. Circus Train Storybook Land Canal Boats is also currently closed for refurbishment in Fantasyland. Disney has not yet announced a reopening date for the ride. Storybook Land Canal Boats In Tomorrowland, Star Tours closed on June 30th for a refurbishment. However, the ride will open later during Halloween Time on September 5th. Star Tours Main Street Cinema will be closing on September 8th — no reopening date has been announced yet. Main Street Cinema The Mark Twain Riverboat is also closing on September 8th, with no reopening date yet announced. Mark Twain Riverboat In Adventureland, Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room will close on September 7th. Enchanted Tiki Room at Disneyland We also do not know when this attraction will reopen. Disney California Adventure If you were hoping to catch the Better Together: A Pixar Pals Celebration Parade! during Halloween Time, you’re out of luck. The parade will be ending on August 4th. Disney has not yet announced if it would bring the parade back after Halloween Time. Better Together: A Pixar Pals Celebration! The Disney Jr. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live! show will also be ending before Halloween Time, on August 17th. Again, Disney has not yet announced if the show will return after the Halloween season is over. Disney Jr. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live! In Cars Land, Radiator Springs Racer will be MIA for at least part of the Halloween season. The ride is scheduled to close on August 18th. Disney has not yet revealed a reopening date. Radiator Springs Racers So if you’re visiting Disneyland and Disney California Adventure during Halloween Time, you’ll need to be aware of these closures. I’ve been to Disneyland for Halloween Time several times, and these ride closures could make the parks feel even more crowded during a super busy time, so plan accordingly. 6. Disney knows how to sell the magic—but sometimes the myths go a little too far. Liberty Square Over the years, a lot of stories have circulated around the parks. Some are wild fan theories, others are just good old-fashioned misunderstandings, and a few are urban legends that just won’t die. We’re breaking down the most common “Disney lies” fans believed for way too long—and yep, we believed a few of these ourselves. “No one dies at Disney.” Let’s start with the big one. You’ve probably heard someone say that no one is technically allowed to die on Disney property—that Disney has some super-secret policy where they declare people dead after they’re off-site. This is not a real thing. Magic Kingdom First Aid Center Tragically, people have died at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World. Accidents have happened, guests have suffered medical emergencies, and Cast Members have also been involved in fatal incidents. Disney obviously doesn’t want to publicize these stories—and in some cases, local laws or first responder policies determine when and where someone is declared deceased—but the idea that “no one dies at Disney” is just not true. It’s a myth that makes the rounds because it sounds very Disney-esque, but it doesn’t hold up under even a little scrutiny. Walt Disney’s frozen head is stored under Pirates of the Caribbean. This is one of those rumors that got out of control and refuses to go away. The idea is that Walt Disney’s head (or entire body, depending on which version you’ve heard) was cryogenically frozen after his death and is currently chilling—literally—under the Pirates of the Caribbean ride. Walt Disney Let’s be super clear: Walt Disney died in 1966 from lung cancer, and his death was publicly reported at the time. He was cremated two days later. There are actual cremation records. There is zero evidence that anything else happened. No, Walt isn’t frozen under Dreamer’s Point The frozen head story took off years later, mostly because it’s just the right blend of creepy and kooky to stick in people’s minds. But no, Walt’s head is not hidden in some secret bunker under Pirates, and there’s no cryogenic lab tucked inside Disneyland. It’s fiction, not fact. The Haunted Mansion was so scary that it caused a heart attack and had to be toned down. This one is very persistent, and we get why—it sounds like the setup to a spooky campfire tale. According to the myth, when the Haunted Mansion first opened, a guest had a heart attack from fear, and Disney quietly adjusted the ride to make it less terrifying. Haunted Mansion in Disneyland The truth? There’s no record of anyone dying on the ride due to fright. No heart attack. No emergency edits to make it less scary. What has happened: an 89-year-old woman once broke her hip trying to exit her Doom Buggy. That’s the closest verifiable incident we could find. On the Haunted Mansion ride Disney did delay the Haunted Mansion’s opening for years, but it had nothing to do with anyone dying. It was more about ride technology and park planning logistics. So yeah—no horror-movie moment behind this one. It’s just a creepy ride with a great backstory and a lot of fog. Those turkey legs aren’t actually turkey. Okay, let’s settle this once and for all: those massive turkey legs you see people gnawing on around the parks? They’re real turkey. They are not emu legs. Turkey Leg This rumor pops up every so often because, yes, those legs are unusually large. And if you’ve never seen a fully grown male turkey up close, it’s understandable to be surprised by their size. But they’re not some Frankenstein version of poultry, and they’re definitely not being swapped for emu behind the scenes. Want a turkey leg? The myth probably stuck because someone joked about it years ago, and it turned into an internet “fact.” I’m sure even a Disney Cast Member or two has leaned into the joke, which didn’t help. But the official word from Disney is that they are, in fact, turkey. Big, salty, smoky turkey. So, what’s the takeaway here? Even the most hardcore Disney fans have fallen for a park myth or two. It’s easy to believe these stories—especially when they sound just close enough to reality or have been repeated a million times online. But most of them are just that: stories. Fun to tell, but not something to plan your park day around. 8. There are so many fun things to do in EPCOT just as a regular park visitor, but there are also some additional tours you can pay for to upgrade your EPCOT experience, and most are WELL worth it. The Seas with Nemo and Friends For example, you can go BEHIND THE SCENES of Living with the Land with the Behind The Seeds Tour, which will give you a chance to see the EPCOT greenhouses where a lot of Disney World food is grown. One of the most popular tours, though, is DiveQuest, which gives you a chance to go diving in the aquarium in The Seas Pavilion. However, right now, a lot of folks booking that tour are getting notifications that it’s been canceled. BUT it’s 100% for a good reason. Trust us. DiveQuest is a scuba diving experience that you can book in EPCOT, where you can dive into the aquarium in The Seas Pavilion and get up close and personal with some of the sea life that call the aquarium home. We received a message from a DFB reader who let us know that their booking for DiveQuest in a few weeks was canceled and that the reason they were given was that diving was no longer being allowed due to “the safety and well-being of the animals.” Aquarium We asked a Cast Member to clarify and were told that the experience had been temporarily canceled because Hali, a hammerhead shark who lives in the aquarium, has started to swim laterally. Now, this shark always swam with a little bit of a tilt, but Disney is concerned about her, and rightfully so. Disney is canceling DiveQuest for a little while to see if the divers are the reason she started doing this or if it has something to do with the aquarium’s netting. Hali, the hammerhead shark Right now, Disney has only canceled tours for the next few weeks, but we learned that Hali is now behaving normally and swimming with her slight tilt from before, and not fully sideways now that divers are no longer in the tank. For the record, Hali’s full name is Haliaka, which is Hawaiian for “remembrance of God.” We’ll be checking up on Hali in the future, as well as see about Disney’s plans for DiveQuest, so stay tuned to DFB for more. 10. We don’t want you to be caught off guard by closures at Disney World! Especially since a popular Magic Kingdom attraction is being added to the closure list this week. Magic Kingdom It can be easy to lose track of all the closure announcements recently, but we are here to help! We don’t want any disappointed kiddos (or adults) due to not knowing about a planned ride closure. Let’s take a look at what is closed this week! A popular Tomorrowland attraction is temporarily closing SOON! Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin is closing for refurbishment beginning August 4th, 2025, and isn’t expected to reopen until 2026. While the ride will be closed for a bit, it will be getting some upgrades! Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin will be getting a new ride scene, new ride vehicles, a new character, and enhanced gameplay elements. Some of those gameplay elements include handheld blasters (soon you can shoot whenever you want!) and reactive targets. ©Disney Let’s take a look at the other attractions and locations that will be closed this week, from August 2nd through August 9th, at Disney World. Magic Kingdom Liberty Square Riverboat and Tom Sawyer Island An iconic part of the Magic Kingdom is now permanently closed. As of July 7th, the Rivers of America, including the Liberty Square River Boat and Tom Sawyer Island, are closed for good to make way for the new Cars area, Piston Peak National Park. There are some construction walls up in the area now, and we have seen workers on Tom Sawyer Island. Walls near the Haunted Mansion in Magic Kingdom Piston Peak National Park will be replacing this area of Magic Kingdom, and construction is expected to begin in the area this year. Disney has not yet released an opening date for the new Cars area, but we do know that it will feature two brand-new attractions and will be themed to look like a National Park. I Thought This Disney World Ride Rule Was Annoying, Until I Saw Someone BREAKING It in Magic Kingdom Big Thunder Mountain Railroad On January 6th, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad closed for an extended temporary closure. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad The “Wildest Ride in the Wilderness” will be closed for at least a year and will reopen sometime in 2026. The ride will be undergoing maintenance while it is closed. When it reopens, it will have some “new magic,” according to Disney. We can’t wait to see what changes will be coming to this ever-popular roller coaster! We recently spotted some ride testing happening, which was very exciting, and a train car has arrived! It was still covered in a tarp, but it was exciting to see. Tortuga Tavern Just like Tomorrowland Terrace, Tortuga Tavern is a seasonal restaurant in Magic Kingdom. It has been a bit since we saw it open. Most recently, it was used as a cookie location for Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. Tortuga Tavern We had previously spotted shrubs around the restaurant as they worked on the flooring. However, all the shrubs have been taken down now. We don’t know exactly when/if this restaurant will reopen, but we will keep you updated if we learn more! We’ve Eaten at Every Magic Kingdom Restaurant. These Are the BEST. Disney’s Animal Kingdom It’s Tough to Be a Bug It’s Tough to Be a Bug is officially closed for good. This attraction in Disney’s Animal Kingdom once invited you to join the bug kingdom on an adventure. While the show didn’t usually make it to the top of favorite attractions in Disney World, it has now officially closed to make way for a new show. It’s Tough to Be a Bug is permanently closed It’s Tough to Be a Bug closed on March 17th. The show is permanently closed to make way for a brand-new show, “Zootopia: Better Zoogether!”, expected to debut in winter 2025. TriceraTop Spin, Chester & Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures, and Fossil Fun Games The first round of closures began in DinoLand U.S.A. on January 13th, 2025. TriceraTop Spin, Chester & Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures, and Fossil Fun Game were closed down, and construction has begun on the brand-new land themed to the Tropical Americas, Pueblo Esperanza. The walls have been up since the closure, and things have been disappearing from behind the walls. Almost everything has been taken down behind the walls, including the large green dinosaur. Pueblo Esperanza Construction It is definitely a sad sight, but we are also excited to see Pueblo Esperanza! DINOSAUR, Restaurantosaurus, the snack stands, and The Boneyard remain open. The Boneyard will be closing for good on September 2nd, 2025. Disney hasn’t announced an official closing date for the rest of DinoLand. However, they have announced that “2025 is your year to visit before it goes extinct!” This NEW Animal Kingdom Change Made Our Day 10X Better Disney’s Hollywood Studios Muppets Courtyard, including Muppet*Vision 3D, PizzeRizzo, and Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano Muppet*Vision 3D AND PizzeRizzo closed on June 8th, and Muppets Courtyard has been walled off so construction can begin on the new Monsters, Inc. land. Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano has been closed since May 11th. Construction Walls up in Disney’s Hollywood Studios Don’t worry, the Muppets won’t be missing from Disney’s Hollywood Studios forever. The Muppets will eventually be taking over Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster in 2026. REVIEW: We Tried the BEST Snack at One of Hollywood Studios’ Worst Restaurants Disney Springs Starbucks on the West Side The Starbucks on the West Side of Disney Springs is temporarily closed for refurbishment. It closed on March 3rd, and it is expected to reopen in mid-summer. Starbucks is currently closed Have no fear, though — you can still get your Starbucks fix in Disney Springs! Head over to the Disney Springs Marketplace location, which will be open during the refurbishment. Caffeine headaches are not allowed in Disney Springs! REVIEW: A Margarita TREE and Live Music? It Doesn’t Get Better Than This at Disney Springs Disney World Hotels Jellyrolls — Disney’s BoardWalk Jellyrolls at Disney’s BoardWalk officially closed on April 19th, 2025. This entertainment venue has provided our team with countless memories, and we know many others are also sad to see it close. Jellyrolls had its final farewell performance on April 19th and closed its doors forever on Disney’s BoardWalk. Jellyrolls However, this isn’t the end for Jellyrolls, as the bar has said they are “making a move.” We don’t know many details about that move yet, but we will keep you updated. 7 Disney World Hotel Restaurants That Are in Desperate Need of Life Don’t want to go through all of the stress of booking your Disney World trip alone? 13. It’s August, which means it’s practically fall…at least in Disney World. The first Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween party will be starting soon, and we’ll all be eating and drinking pumpkin and apple cider flavored food and drinks. New Starbucks collection! Does it feel like fall? Nope, it’s SOOOOO hot. But we think Starbucks is trying to make fall come a little early this year, ahead of the annual arrival of the Pumpkin Spice Latte. That’s because we just spotted a new fall-themed Starbucks collection in Disney World — and you HAVE to see it. We found this new collection at Creations Shop in EPCOT, and it’s called “Park Days and Lattes,” which is pretty much our two favorite things. The theme is park days and lattes IN THE FALL, so it’s giving off autumn vibes. First, there’s this Starbucks Park Days and Lattes Tote with Mickey and Minnie pumpkins, fall foliage, gourds, leaves, and the Disney World logo. You can grab this for $29.99. Tote There’s also a Starbucks Park Days and Lattes Tumbler for $39.99, which has the same design. Tumbler But check out the little Starbucks cup charm on it! We bet that’s a cup of Pumpkin Spice Latte! The charm! Finally, you can also get a Starbucks Park Days and Lattes Ceramic Tumbler for $27.99. Ceramic tumbler I’ve seen a lot of the Disney Starbucks collections, but this one might be my favorite of all time. As a Halloween baby (yep, I was born on October 31st), fall is my favorite time of the year, and this collection is calling my name. 14. Dining at Disney World is an experience that guests need to have when they visit the park! Old Key West We recently stopped by Olivia’s Cafe at Old Key West Resort, a popular spot for brunch and dinner. What did we think? We’re giving you our full review here. Atmosphere The restaurant offers a great beach home vibe. You can feel it in the decorations, the music, the colors — it’s just very “homey”. We love the ambience of the restaurant, and you get a good view of the water beside the windows. Olivia’s Cafe Another thing we like is how easy it was to get to the restaurant. It’s located right by the front of the resort, so it takes no time to get there. The inside is warm and bright, and has some cool beach home/lake house decorations. There are both tables and booths here, which is nice, so you have options! Olivia’s Cafe But enough about the restaurant — what’s on the menu here?! Menu Olivia’s Cafe offers dining throughout the day — breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It’s a great spot at any time of the day, but we went during dinner. They offer some unique cocktails and some seafood-based appetizers. You can also get some popular dinner mains like the prime rib or buttermilk chicken. Dinner menu! Lots of the specialty cocktails looked delicious! For you wine lovers, they had lots of options. Drink menu! Olivia’s Cafe has some popular desserts as well, like the Bananas Foster or the Key Lime Pie (a fan favorite)! Dessert menu! They also have some post-dinner beverages like the Chocolate Martini or Irish Coffee. If you’re a fan of Joffrey’s, they’ve got that for you, too! Drinks! And now, onto the main event — the food! Eats First, we grabbed the Conch Fritters for $15. They were served with a key lime mustard. Off the first bite, the texture of the conch fritters surprised us. It looked like it had a hard, crunchy shell, but the whole thing was soft. Conch Fritters! Definitely dip them in the key lime mustard that’s provided. It gives them extra flavor, whereas by itself, it kind of just tastes a little fishy and bland. It’s not in a bad way; it’s just the sauce really adds to it. You need to try these The food came with complimentary bread, which had a very coconutty smell to it. Despite the smell, we didn’t feel like it had a strong coconut flavor. So, if you aren’t a big fan of coconut, you’d most likely still like this. Here’s the bread! The bread has a unique taste to it, unlike anything we’ve had before. It tasted like bread that was sweeter and had a tiny bit of a fruity taste to it. It was really good! It was good! Next, we grabbed the Slow-cooked Prime Rib* for $39. This was Prime Rib served with Roasted Garlic Mashed Potatoes and Broccolini. The prime rib is really good, and again, it’s even better if you dip it in the sauce that’s provided. The prime rib was the perfect texture, with an even amount of chewy and firm at the same time. I got medium well, so it was pretty brown. Prime Rib! There were a few pretty fatty parts, but not that many. If you aren’t a fan of the fat parts, you can easily cut them off. Maybe we were just hungry, but surprisingly, the prime rib wasn’t that heavy. We finished it pretty quickly. That being said, it’s a solid meal, and it will fill you up. It was so good! The mashed potatoes were equally as amazing as the prime rib! They’re so soft and they’re salted perfectly, giving the potatoes an excellent flavor. The dish comes with a lot more broccolini than we expected, which was a pleasant surprise. The broccolini was very fresh, but we just found that they were pretty plain for the most part. We need this again! For dessert, we couldn’t resist Olivia’s Bananas Foster for $9! It was a dish served with Warm Banana Bread, Bananas Foster Sauce, and Vanilla Ice Cream. It was amazing! The ice cream had this crunchy caramel drizzle to it, and the bananas were caramelized. Olivia’s Banana Foster! The banana bread was so fresh and had some crunchiness to it because of the caramel. We also didn’t find that the banana bread was overly sweet. We would definitely get this again. To top it all off, it came with a couple of strawberries! This was so good! Drinks To drink, we picked up the Cherry Bourbon Punch for $16.50. Make sure to stir this well, because the cocktail was a tad watered down on the first sip. We found the drink was sweeter than strong, but you still get that kick. Turtle Krawl! The more we drank it, the more we liked it. You could taste the fruitiness, and the cherry stands out a lot. The drink looks swampy, but don’t be fooled by its appearance. The Cast Member said it was fairly new and you won’t find it anywhere else on Disney property, outside of a couple of dining places. It was good! Nosh or Not This Disney World restaurant is a must-visit if… If you want a cute dining spot! The restaurant had a cute beach vibe to it, and its ambience is a nice one to eat in. You want something more budget-friendly! When at Disney, it’s always nice to save money when you can. We find this dining spot is a little easier on the wallet than others. You want an easy spot to get to! It was really easy to get here, so it’s a convenient spot in Disney World. You should skip this Disney World spot if… You want more options! If you really want to branch out and explore, the menu is more limited here than at other spots. You want something more “Disney”! When it comes to theming, the place is cute, but it’s not as Disney-themed or fancy as other spots. Overall Overall, we think this is a great family spot or a cute date spot! We think the place works a little better for breakfast, but we would go at any time. It’s a cute spot and definitely worth going to at some point, especially if you are staying at Old Key West! Here’s our meal! In the meantime, we’ll be on the lookout for more restaurant updates from Disney World and beyond. 15. You think you’re getting exactly what you ordered on Amazon—but that’s not always the case. ©Amazon You may not realize that the item you’re buying on Amazon might not actually come from the seller listed on the product page. In fact, Amazon uses a system that allows products from different third-party sellers to get tossed into the same inventory pile—regardless of who you clicked “Buy” from. It’s called “commingling,” and it’s one of those behind-the-scenes things we wish more people knew about. So here’s what that means for your next purchase (and why it might not be what you think you’re getting). DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. What Is Commingling (and Why Should You Care)? So here’s the deal: Amazon allows third-party sellers to send their inventory to Amazon’s fulfillment centers. If those sellers use something called FBA (Fulfilled by Amazon), Amazon can take identical products—like the same shampoo bottle or Star Wars mug—and lump them all together, regardless of who sent them in. ©Amazon This means if five different sellers are all selling the exact same product (same barcode, same version, same manufacturer), Amazon puts them into one big pool of inventory. Then, when you click “Buy Now” on a listing from Seller A, Amazon might ship you an item from Seller B. Or Seller C. Or even Seller Z. That doesn’t sound like a big deal at first. After all, if they’re the same product, what’s the harm? Well… not all products with the same barcode are created equal. Different Sellers, Different Quality While many sellers are totally legit, some cut corners. They might sell expired items. They might send in knockoffs. Or their product might be the right brand but stored poorly—think sun-damaged packaging or busted seals. Amazon’s system doesn’t always distinguish between what’s authentic and what’s not, as long as it scans in under the same universal barcode. ©Amazon So you think you’re buying from a reputable, high-rated shop. But Amazon may quietly grab the product from a completely different seller who just happened to send in the same item. You won’t know it. You can’t opt out of it. And you might not realize anything’s wrong until the product shows up on your doorstep and feels… off. Why Does Amazon Do This? It all comes down to speed and convenience. Amazon wants to ship things quickly, and pulling from the closest warehouse with the product available saves time and money. Their algorithm isn’t prioritizing your seller preference—it’s prioritizing logistics. ©Amazon And because the items are supposed to be “identical,” Amazon sees no issue with this practice. What Can You Do About It? Unfortunately, you can’t stop Amazon from commingling inventory. But there are a few things you can do to lower your chances of getting the wrong item: Look for “Ships from and sold by [seller name]” — this is your best bet to avoid third-party fulfillment entirely. It doesn’t guarantee no commingling, but it may reduce the risk. Check reviews carefully. If people are mentioning knockoffs, damaged goods, or weird packaging, take that seriously. Even if most reviews are good, one bad batch from a shady seller can tank the experience. Be extra cautious with food, supplements, and skincare. These are high-risk categories for expired or counterfeit products, and commingling increases that risk. When in doubt, buy direct from the brand. If Disney (or any other brand) offers it on their official site, that’s always the safest route. So… Should You Stop Using Amazon? We’re not saying that. We all love Amazon for the convenience, and it’s still a solid place to buy a lot of things—especially when you’re in a rush or can’t get something locally. But if you’re buying collectible items, park-exclusive merch, or anything you really care about the quality of, just know what you’re getting into. 16. Disney World is, apparently, in its construction era. In Magic Kingdom, one ride is currently closed for a big refurbishment, while another one will close soon for its own update while a new expansion AND a new land are being built. In Disney’s Animal Kingdom, a whole new land is being constructed. In Disney’s Hollywood Studios, an entire part of the park is being reimagined while a new land is also under construction. Pop Century That construction also extends to Disney World hotels, including one of its most popular resorts. Disney’s Pop Century Resort is getting its rooms refurbished, but Disney also recently announced that the hotel is getting some work done on its lobby! The Disney World website indicates that from July 28th through October, the lobby at Disney’s Pop Century “will be getting a retro-inspired refresh.” The lobby will remain open during this time, although you may see and hear construction. All hotel amenities will also be available. ©Disney We wonder if this retro-inspired update will match what we’ve already seen with Disney’s recent update of the hotel’s food court, Everything POP! We love the vibrant vintage-y colors, and it only makes sense that the lobby might also end up reflecting a similar look and feel. Everything POP! The rooms at Pop Century are also undergoing some updates: that work started in March and won’t be completed until February 2026. We’re not sure what plans Disney has for the rooms, as they currently look the same as all the other value resorts, but we’d love to see this whole super colorful retro theme in the rooms, too. Disney’s Pop Century Resort We’ll keep an eye out for more updates, so stay tuned to DFB for more. Don’t want to go through all of the stress of booking your Disney World trip alone? 17. One Disney World restaurant has been closed for a while now, and we’re wondering what’s going on! Tomorrowland Terrace seating Over the years, we’ve seen quite a few Disney World restaurants shut down, but often, they’re quickly replaced with something new and fresh. Of course, after the pandemic in 2020, some restaurants never reopened or returned to their original form, without any kind of explanation. And today, we’re here to discuss one that’s still confusing us — Tomorrowland Terrace! Tomorrowland Terrace, if you’re not familiar, is the restaurant located on the corner of Main Street, U.S.A., and Tomorrowland. It has an open-air atmosphere in a covered terrace, and provides a STUNNING view of Cinderella Castle and the castle hub area. Beautiful view from Tomorrowland Terrace Now, if you haven’t been to Disney World in a while or you’re not a regular, you may not be familiar with this spot. Back in 1971, when Magic Kingdom opened, Tomorrowland Terrace Restaurant was actually the name of the spot that is now Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe. It was renamed in 1994. The current Tomorrowland Terrace opened in 2004, replacing what was formerly the Plaza Pavilion Restaurant. At that time, it was known as the Tomorrowland Terrace Noodle Station. It was open seasonally and offered an Asian-inspired menu. The counters are covered up. However, sometime in the 2010s, the menu switched to become more American-inspired dishes like burgers, sandwiches, salads, and even some pasta. In the following years, they rotated through some additional, more interesting items, like sauced chicken strips and lettuce wraps, but with seasonal operating hours, this place never stood out too much. Tomorrowland Terrace After the parks reopened from the pandemic, Tomorrowland Terrace was open for a while as a great option where you could social distance and sit outdoors in fresh air. Columbia Harbour House was getting a refurbishment at that time, so the seafood-inspired menu moved over here to Tomorrowland, and it seemed that this rarely-open spot actually had some of the best quick service food in the park. Columbia Harbour House Eats But once Columbia Harbour House began operating again, Tomorrowland Terrace closed during the daytime and was mainly just in use in the evenings for fireworks dessert parties. These days, the upper level is open for seating during the morning and early afternoon, then it’s blocked off sometime midday for fireworks dessert party preparation to begin. You’ll only be able to dine here if you carry food over from another quick service restaurant early in the day or if you book one of those dessert parties at night. When it closed back down after Columbia Harbour House reopened We haven’t seen it open as a restaurant (even seasonally) in quite a while — a couple of years, in fact. So what gives? Why isn’t Disney using this space? Well, Disney hasn’t shared a reason explicitly, but we can hazard a few guesses. Desserts at the Fireworks Dessert Party The first reason could be that Disney doesn’t need to use this space. In the past, it was only open when the parks were at their busiest — think weekends, Christmas holiday season, Spring Break, or summertime. (Coincidentally, this was also how Aunt Polly’s on Tom Sawyer Island operated — RIP.) With so many other quick service restaurants and snack stands around Magic Kingdom, as well as several places at the nearby resorts, it’s possible that Disney already has enough dining capacity to take care of the guests that Magic Kingdom has each day. The view from Tomorrowland Terrace The other main reason we could think that this might be closed is that it’s more trouble than it’s worth to open it. The restaurant would likely only be able to operate for a few hours a day since it has to close to prep for the fireworks dessert parties, and Disney would have to get staff over here, make a new menu, order supplies, and keep everything going. It’s another task to add to the operations list. Fireworks View from Tomorrowland Terrace And if Magic Kingdom needs a quick service restaurant to use seasonally, there’s actually a better option over in Adventureland. We’ve seen Tortuga Tavern operating on and off since the pandemic, and we’ve actually had a few truly delicious meals there in the past. Since it’s not home to a fireworks dessert party at night, it’s a bit more flexible of a location. Tortuga Tavern Whatever is going on here, the space still remains a nice spot to sit and relax in the shade if you’re in need of a break in the morning or early afternoon. So if Disney does decide to reopen it in the future, we hope they introduce a replacement relaxation zone! Check out the video below to see which restaurant is the BEST in Magic Kingdom! 18. I’ve been going to Disney World for 25 years, and this one thing will be a game-changer for your next day at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Fantasmic! Billboard I’ve rope-dropped Tower of Terror more times than I can count, eaten my weight in Carrot Cake Cookies from Trolley Car Café, and yes, I remember when The Great Movie Ride was the beating heart of the park. Hollywood Studios has always held a special kind of magic for me. It’s a park that blends thrills, nostalgia, and making magic come to life in a way that hits just right. And while there’s plenty to love, from Galaxy’s Edge to Slinky Dog Dash, there’s one decision I never second-guess: booking the Fantasmic! Dining Package. I’m here to tell you — the Fantasmic! Dining Package is absolutely worth every penny, and yes, I’m willing to die on this hill. Instead of sweating it out in line, you grab a delicious meal and get a voucher for VIP seating at Fantasmic!. It’s a perfect combination of comfort and magic. We dove headfirst into the package because for my family, it’s a meal plus guaranteed seats, and honestly? That peace of mind is priceless. Let’s break it down! Fantasmic What is the Fantasmic! Dining Package? The Fantasmic! Dining Package offers a meal at a participating restaurant in Disney’s Hollywood Studios AND reserved seating for a showing of the popular Fantasmic! On the day of, you’ll head to your reservation, eat, and grab a ticket for the Fantasmic! showing. You’ll give this ticket to the Cast Members at the nighttime show in exchange for you to access the priority seating. Participants are requested to arrive at least 25 minutes before showtime to be seated in the reserved section. The entrance to the reserved seating is on Sunset Boulevard next to Beauty & The Beast Live on Stage. Fantasmic! Why It’s Worth It! For guests who want to watch Fantasmic! without using time to wait in a long line to get in, this might be for you. Especially if you are planning to do a table service meal at Hollywood Studios, and would enjoy one of these restaurants. 19. Something HUGE is happening soon: Disney Adults: Exploring (And Falling In Love With) A Magical Subculture by our very own AJ Wolfe is releasing on August 5th! Disney Adults Wild Rosy If you’ll be in Orlando this week, you can even attend the book launch event and meet AJ to learn more about the book. However, you can also pre-order it online RIGHT NOW. But if you’re in Disney World, you’ll want to check out the very special Disney Adults Crawl, featuring eight EXCLUSIVE Disney Adults beverages in Disney Springs and EPCOT. Well, we headed to Raglan Road in Disney Springs to try one of those drinks for ourselves, so let’s see what we thought! Before we get started, though, we wanted to remind you that you can pre-order the book RIGHT NOW! If you’re interested in the Disney Adults Crawl in Disney World, we’ve put together a map and menu to get you started. The Crawl lasts through August 31st, so you’ll have plenty of time to grab these exclusive beverages. One of those beverages can be found at Raglan Road, who has created a special Disney Adults version of its Wild Rosy, which is made with made with Glendalough Wild Rose Gin, Rockets Botanical Liqueur, homemade rosemary syrup, lemon Pelligrino, and Fever Tree premium tonic for $16 — although you can grab it for $10 before 3 PM Monday through Friday. The Disney Adults version has a dehydrated orange that’s coated in blue and glitter. Wild Rosy This is a beautiful drink with lovely floral flavors — but don’t worry, those flavors are subtle and you can even taste the gin on the back end. The botanical liqueur just melts with the rose gin, and then you get a hint of lemon. It’s also kind of bubbly, which comes from the tonic, but the overall drink is smooth. Note that you can also get a non-alcoholic version of this drink! Disney Adults glow-up You’ll want to be sure that this stop is on your Disney Adults Crawl list — trust us! WE KNOW – there are SO many great snacks at Disney World! How do you choose (we don’t want to choose but will blow our budget on Day 1 otherwise)? We’ve got you covered! 23. I’ve done a lot of weird things for my job. Me and my “pal” Mickey. I’ve eaten my fair share of bizarre snacks, I’ve counted steps out loud walking from the Contemporary to Magic Kingdom, and I’ve even sat underneath tables in EPCOT to help my phone survive the chaos that is a festival opening day. But recently, I did maybe the strangest thing yet — spent the entire day befriending what might be Disney World’s creepiest souvenir. When people find out that I go to Disney World for my job, they often think that it’s a fun and boisterous time. But in all reality, it can be a fairly introverted job. I spend most of my day walking around a theme park by myself, only interacting with my coworkers through my phone. It can get — dare I say — a little lonely for an extrovert like me. I go to Disney World for my job! But never fear! Recently, a bold soul stepped in to help me cure the loneliness. A new friend joined me on my adventures, and as admirable as it was for him to step up to the plate…I don’t want his friendship! How dare I be so harsh, you ask? Yeah, well, just wait until you see him. Talking Mickey popcorn bucket Oh yeah, sure, this guy looks cute and cuddly, but don’t let him fool you! This is the talking Mickey popcorn bucket that recently dropped at popcorn stands in Hollywood Studios for $45. As part of my job, I picked one up to snag some photos and see how he works, and let’s just say that Mickey might be visiting me in my nightmares. You place the popcorn in the back of his head What’s wrong with Mickey? Well, you flip a switch on his feet to turn him on, and then when you say “Hey, Mickey!” he responds with one of three different catch phrases. But that’s not all! Nope, he also blinks and TURNS HIS HEAD TO STARE INTO YOUR SOUL. FRIGHTENING And if you forget to turn his switch to the “off” position after testing him out, you may find yourself mid-restaurant review a few hours later when he suddenly starts blinking and talking out of nowhere. Not that that happened to me or anything… Mickey Mouse Popcorn Bucket But you know what? Beggars can’t be choosers. I was in need of a little friendly interaction, and Mickey was kind enough to join me for a drink at BaseLine Tap House. Ice water for me, Coca-Cola for him — I can’t seem to convince that guy that he needs to hydrate properly in this summer heat. Enjoying each other’s company And even though the conversation was pretty one-sided (he only said like three different things to me the whole time!) and his eye contact is unnerving, we still managed to have a pretty good day together. I’m glad I started to warm up to his presence, because that dude was following me everywhere. Even now, he’s chilling in the backseat of my car (I refuse to let him inside my house). His eyes… So that’s what it’s like to make friends, the only way you can when you’re reporting in Disney World. Hopefully, next time there’s a specialty popcorn bucket, it won’t frighten children and give adults nightmares. Check out the video below to see things we always buy in Disney World! 24. Okay, it’s time to talk about Southwest Airlines and all these changes the airline has been making recently. Southwest at MCO I’ve been a huge fan of Southwest for a long time. My home airport is Memphis, and Southwest is one of the few airlines with non-stop flights to Orlando (for visiting Disney World, of course). It’s also one of the few airlines that offers flights into Long Beach Airport, my preferred airport when I want to visit Disneyland. So the big news right now is about Southwest changing its seating policy by offering assigned seats for the first time in the airline’s history. But I’m still pretty ticked off about its previous change…and y’all know where I’m going with this, right? So, as of right now, you can book assigned seats on Southwest flights. The airline has been known for its open seating policy, where you’re assigned a number that indicates the order that you board the flight — but you don’t know where you’re sitting until you pick a seat on the plane. That will change on January 27th, 2026, with assigned seating, and you can now book those assigned seats. And of course, there are options to pay extra for extra legroom or preferred seats (like every other airline). Premium Seating on ©Southwest Airlines Okay, so that’s bad enough, knowing that Southwest is now trying the same money grab with seating that every other airline is pretty much already doing. But I’m still not okay with the previous change the airline made: getting rid of free checked bags. Southwest started charging for checked bags in May, and it hasn’t been the same since. Bags no longer fly free Now, Southwest has a history of basing its entire marketing and advertising around “Bags Fly Free.” You’d see it on billboards, in advertisements, on the airline’s luggage carts at the airport, and everywhere else. It was the one thing Southwest was doing that set it apart from every other airline. But now, the airline has changed its tune and will start charging $35 each way for each checked bag. ©Southwest Airlines So why am I so mad? Well, Southwest seemed to have done a complete 180 on something that it always prided itself on: offering free checked bags. The airline built a lot of its identity around “Bags Fly Free,” and even when it started making changes (like the assigned seating), the public was assured that free bags would remain. So not only did Southwest betray its own brand, but it also betrayed its customers. Southwest betrayed itself In betraying its own brand, Southwest took the one thing that separated it from other airlines and got rid of it. Now, Southwest is no different than any other airline, and it has no unique selling point (or USP for you marketing nerds). Southwest can no longer stand out over other airlines. Southwest However, Southwest also garnered a lot of loyalty from customers for refusing to bend to the nickel and diming for premium seating and checked bags that other airlines gave into years ago. Southwest went out of its way to tell its customer that it was always on their side. Now, Southwest has betrayed its customers. That betrayal hurts because we always thought Southwest was the airline of the people, but it feels like that’s no longer the case. Southwest plane at Long Beach Airport Granted, there are ways to get around the new checked bag fees: you can book a more expensive premium fare that includes checked bags, use a Rapid Rewards credit card, or earn Elite status. Yep, two of those three options require spending more money with the airline. So, thanks, but no thanks, Southwest. You will no longer be the airline I look at first when it comes to finding fares.
