OK, I thought I knew EVERYTHING about Disney Cruise Line. I’m a Platinum Castaway Club member, I’ve been on every ship, I know how to find Pepe’s door! But for some reason this random rule I just discovered was a massive surprise to me. Though I can totally see why it makes sense! Disney Wish at Castaway Cay That’s right, there’s another layer of rules behind the scenes that can surprise even seasoned cruisers. One took us by surprise and involves Disney Cruise Line’s alcohol policy for younger adults. We were shocked by this rule when we discovered it! OK, get this! On cruises departing from certain overseas ports, Disney allows 18-to-20-year-olds to drink alcohol. Now, now, there are a number of qualifiers here. And we do need to stress that on cruises that leave from U.S. ports, U.S. law is the policy on the ship — so the drinking age on those cruises is strictly 21 years of age. Sweet Nightingale on Disney Wish Most Disney Cruise sailings enforce a strict 21+ drinking age aboard ship and require a valid photo ID for any alcohol service. For the majority of itineraries, that 21+ rule holds firm. But Disney’s policies do acknowledge that some counties’ laws have lower drinking ages. Who KNEW?! So, if your Disney Cruise leaves from a European port with a drinking age under 21, parents or guardians can sign a “Beverage Consent Form” that permits 18- to 20-year-olds to consume alcoholic beverages aboard the ship, but only while in the presence of that parent or guardian. And if you’re taking a roundtrip cruise from a port in Australia or New Zealand — 18- to 20-year-olds can drink alcohol without parental consent. Same goes for Singapore — where the Disney Adventure is set to cruise from starting in March 2026. (Who knew?!? I mean meany YOU knew? If you did, tell me cause I want to see if you know any other secret cruise things that I need to download.) And wait — there’s one more exception that DOES include a U.S. port! For repositioning cruises between Hawai’i and Australia, the “Beverage Consent Form” policy also applies. Here’s how it works in practice: If your cruise departs from a European port with a drinking age under 21, you can request the beverage waiver during check-in or in your Guest Ticket Booklet. You can also request it if you are on a repositioning cruise between Hawai’i and Australia. That waiver gives an 18- to 20-year-old the right to drink alcohol onboard, but only when accompanied by the parent or guardian who signed the waiver. It doesn’t mean free reign — the person still must comply with all Disney & local laws and Disney’s own alcohol policies (e.g. no serving to others, no excessive drinking). The Disney Dream At the moment, the Disney Dream is sailing multiple ports in Europe, including Rome, Barcelona, and Southampton. The Disney Magic is sailing from Australia and New Zealand through February 2026, when it departs for Hawai’i. And the Disney Adventure is going to start sailing from Singapore in March 2026. Disney Dream It’s worth noting that this exception is not allowed on cruises departing from U.S. or Caribbean ports. On those voyages, the 21+ rule is absolute across the board. So yes, this rule is real, and yes, it’s pretty wild. But it’s also very specific. If you’re booking a sailing from Europe, Australia, New Zealand, or Singapore, you’ll want to discuss this with your family! It’s an exciting time for Disney Cruise Line, with 3 new ships — the Disney Treasure, Disney Destiny, and Disney Adventure! If you’re thinking about a cruise, I suggest you contact our friends at Small World Vacations — their services are free to you, and they can help you choose the ship, ports of call, and stateroom that is right for your family. The group plans to “engage” with Six Flags’ management and board of directors to discuss ways to enhance shareholder value and improve visitors’ experience. Shares in the Charlotte, North Carolina-based Six Flags surged 17.7% on the news. The shares added another 5.1% gain in after-hours trading. EPCOT is a virtual WELLSPRING of great restaurants, and you can literally dine around the world without ever leaving the park. Dessert, anyone? Well, we recently decided to take a jaunt across the pond (aka World Showcase Lagoon) to check out some dining in the U.K. Pavilion, so we’re inviting you to join us as we grab some traditional British fare at Rose and Crown Pub and Dining Room. Atmosphere As we previously stated, you’ll find Rose and Crown in the U.K. Pavilion in the World Showcase. You’ve probably noticed the pub in that pavilion, but there’s also a restaurant attached to that pub where you can dine on some British favorites. Rose & Crown Pub and Dining Hall Inside, you’ll find a cozy and inviting restaurant with lots of wood finishes and traditional British decorations. This is giving real English pub-meets-restaurant vibes that will make you feel right at home thanks to a ton of details. The vibe here is cozy Be sure to take a moment to check out some of the wall decor and knick-knacks. The decor is so authentic This dining room also features an outdoor area, too, with great views of World Showcase Lagoon. Are you thinking what we’re thinking? Yep, this is a great place to book a reservation for later in the evening to get a great view for EPCOT’s nighttime show. Outdoor dining But enough about the restaurant — what’s on the menu here? Menu The menu here features traditional English food, including a Scotch Egg, Bangers and Mash, Fish and Chips, Shepherd’s Pie, Sticky Toffee Pudding, and more. The menu And now, onto the main event — the food! Eats First up, we ordered the Scotch Egg, This is a Golden-fried Hard-boiled Cage-free Egg wrapped in Sausage with Mustard Sauce for $15. This is CLASSIC British food. Fun fact: No one can narrow down exactly when or where the dish was invented. But who cares when it’s as tasty as this one is? It’s like breakfast that you can eat at any time. It’s hearty, it’s full of protein, and it can be shareable. It’s served cut in half, too, in case you DO want to share. Scotch Egg For the entree, we went with the Shepherd’s Pie. Again, another classic. This one is made with Ground Beef, Seasonal Vegetables, English Peas, and Mashed Potatoes with Irish Cheddar for $29. It’s comfort food at its finest and is a hearty entree to fill your belly with warmth. Shepherd’s Pie It’s also heavy, but that’s pretty much on brand for this restaurant (in other words, be sure you bring an appetite when you visit). We’ll admit that we shared this between two people because it was a lot. So hearty Finally, we had to order the Sticky Toffee Pudding with Custard, Caramel, and Crunchy Honeycomb Pieces for $9.50. We’re going to tell you right now…it’s good. It’s warm, it’s got that syrupy stickiness that doesn’t stick to your teeth. It’s soft and moist, but there’s a nice crunch with the honeycomb pieces. PERFECTION. SO good Again, though, this just added to the already heavy meal we had, so we were about ready for a nap after. Worth it, though? ABSOLUTELY. Maybe book this for a dinner over a lunch, though. Nosh or Not This Disney World restaurant is a must-visit if… You’re really hungry. This is hefty food that’s going to fill your belly pretty quickly, so if you’re not hungry for a large meal, you might want to skip. You want a great view. Whether you just want a great view of World Showcase Lagoon or EPCOT’s nighttime show, you can get a great seat for both outside at this restaurant. You want an authentic English pub and restaurant vibe. This is about as authentic of a British meal you can get in Disney World, and both the food and the atmosphere will make you think you’ve traveled across the ocean. You should skip this Disney World spot if… You want something quick. This is a table service restaurant, but if you’re wanting some British food quickly, head on over to Yorkshire County Fish Shop for some classic Fish and Chips instead. You have picky eaters in your group. There’s not a lot of variety on the menu here, so if you have a picky eater to feed, you might want to skip. You want a light meal. This is anything but a light meal. It’s very hearty and heavy and may leave you feeling a little weighed down after. Overall We’ve been fans of the Rose & Crown Pub and Dining Room for some time now because it really is a good example of great international dining within the confines of EPCOT. The experience feels real to the British experience, and the food is comforting, if a bit heavy. If that’s what you’re looking for and you arrive at Rose & Crown Pub and Dining Room, you’ve come to the right place. In the meantime, we’ll be on the lookout for more restaurant updates from Disney World and beyond. Make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for the latest Disney news and more! If you have flown to Disney World before, there is a pretty high chance you flew through the Orlando International Airport (MCO). Orlando International Airport is the busiest airport in Florida and one of the busiest in the United States. Well, some big changes are coming to the airport over the next 10 years, and we have the details! Orlando International Airport The Greater Orlando Aviation Authority (GOAA) recently unveiled a new strategic vision to guide the future of the airport over the next 10 years. The vision is built around four pillars: Customer Experience, Community, Infrastructure, and People. This plan was developed during months of extensive research, collaboration, and input, and was approved during a board meeting on October 15th. We are taking a look at some of the highlights of the plan and how the changes might impact your future Disney World trips! The airport has developed goals for each of its four foundational pillars: Customer Experience, Community, Infrastructure, and People. When examining the goals that will most impact travelers, the Infrastructure goals are the most impactful. By 2030, MCO plans to increase the available public parking by 8,000 spaces, complete the construction of a new baggage handling system for Terminals A and B, complete the airside 2 gate expansions, and add additional passenger conveyance in Terminal C. Additionally, the airport anticipates completing Terminal C, Phase 2 construction by 2035. Orlando International Airport Additionally, changes are coming to the terminal names. Currently, the terminals at Orlando International Airport are Terminals A, B, and C, but eventually they will be renamed to Terminals 1, 2, and 3 to improve clarity and consistency. Welcome to the Orlando International Airport The airport is also working to develop at least one new cargo processing facility and increase non-aeronautical revenue by 30%. Other goals include launching a Business Incubator at MCO, achieving a 20% increase over the 2025 baseline employee engagement, and restoring stormwater structures. The airport is also hoping to attain a 5-star Skytrax rating, which is a global rating system that ranks airports on quality of service and other standards. Southwest at MCO We are pleased to see Orlando International Airport continuing to improve, making traveling through the busiest airport in Florida better — and our Disney World trips easier! There are LOTS of construction walls up in Disney World right now! You will find walls up around Pueblo Esperanza in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Piston Peak National Park in Magic Kingdom, the new Monsters, Inc. land in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and various other spots where construction is happening in Disney World. There are also some walls up in Toy Story Land in Disney’s Hollywood Studios around what has been rumored to be a new snack stand, and today, we got a FIRST LOOK at this new spot! Something has “popped” up in Hollywood Studios! We have been keeping a close eye on this spot, curious about what would pop up. Well, now we have our first look at the new snack stand that has “popped” up over the top of the construction wall! Disney hasn’t officially confirmed that it is a new snack stand yet, but based on what we are seeing, we are pretty confident it will eventually be a snack stand. We are getting our first look at what is being built behind the walls in Toy Story Land! A segment of the new building is now visible above the wall, and we can see part of a popcorn bucket. It is a knocked-over popcorn bucket, and we can make out part of the name saying “and Snacks.” We are thinking this wording on the side of the building is pretty good confirmation it will be a snack stand! It is a popcorn carton! We are loving the theming, and it fits right in inside Toy Story Land. If this location is indeed a snack stand, we are going to make a wild guess that we will likely see some popcorn here. But we are also hopeful that it might offer more variety, too. Maybe some fun treats that feature popcorn? Only time will tell! We see you! There is also another spot that is surrounded by construction walls across from the knocked-over popcorn bucket. We still can’t see anything above the walls over there, but we are guessing it could be some sort of seating area for the new snack stand. However, only time will tell what this area will be! Disney hasn’t officially announced the new snack stand yet, nor has it revealed when it will open. We’ll keep you updated as we learn more about this new Toy Story Land location. Is this not the cutest tote bag you’ve ever seen? View on Amazon Or, you can grab this Loungefly Holiday Wallet ©Disney We were surprised to see how big this holiday collection is, but we’re not complaining. Look at the cute Mickey snowman in the background! This wallet has a zipper and a flap opening. If you’re going to be doing lots of shopping this holiday season, do it in style! View on Amazon Then there’s this Holiday Loungefly Crossbody Bag ©Disney The last piece of the collection is this Minnie Holiday Loungefly Crossbody Bag! Similar to the other items, this bag features an all-over print of iconic and classic Christmas decorations. The style of the bow on top of the bag gives us a “nutcracker” vibe (maybe it’s the shape). This has to be the cutest holiday crossbody bag we’ve seen! View on Amazon Take a look at this Mickey and Minnie Christmas Loungelfy ©Disney Let’s make our way over to the Loungefly store online, where they have this Mickey and Minnie Christmas Loungefly Backpack! The backpack features the iconic Disney couple holding up ornaments. Look closely, the ornaments they are holding up are of each other, how cute! The mini backpack is a Loungefly exclusive, so you’ll only find it on their site. The bag is so festive! View online Don’t forget this Christmas Loungefly Crossbody Bag ©Disney This Minnie Mouse Christmas Loungefly Crossbody Bag works for a day at Disney, or a night out for a fancy holiday evening! In case you missed it, there are major ride changes coming to Disneyland and Disney World next summer. ©Disney Soarin’ Around the World is flying away, and we’re welcoming Soarin’ Across America in its place. When a beloved attraction undergoes a change, Disney fans will always express their feelings, and we’ve gathered some of our favorite responses to these changes. Coming summer 2026, the new show will have iconic elements that make Soarin’ as amazing as it is, including the flight, the sights, the score, and even the scents. The Walt Disney Imagineering team is already hard at work capturing new scenes for the show. ©Disney Both coasts are getting the change in Disney California Adventure and EPCOT for this celebration of America’s 250th birthday. ©Disney When going through the comments on Disney Parks’ Instagram and our very own Disney Food Blog page, it seems like a lot of people are questioning…why. Some say, “We want California back,” and Soarin’ Over California, the original version, is usually the fan favorite. We’ve seen it come back for seasonal festivals, but it hasn’t consistently been around in a while. Soarin’ Over California One person commented, saying, “I hope Sam Eagle gets invited to do the pre-show with Patrick,” and we can’t help but agree! With the closure of MuppetVision, the Muppets are moving over to Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, and we’re hoping Sam Eagle made the move. If not, we’ll be pretty thrilled to see him and Patrick Warburton, who did the preshow safety spiel together. ©Disney Others say, “Can we pick a different country?” Some are concerned because a majority of the guests coming to Disneyland and Disney World are from the United States. These guests have seen these sights and don’t want to go on a ride to see what they’re already familiar with. Soarin’ Around the World A few also said “glad it’s temporary,” but some are happy that there will be no more wonky Eiffel Tower. Do you think we’re still getting a wonky Statue of Liberty? Eiffel Tower Now it’s your turn! Tell us what you think of this change in the comments, and make sure you keep following Disney Food Blog for more. Monsters are coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios! A brand-new Monsters, Inc. themed land is coming to Hollywood Studios, and NEW permits were just filed for construction. The land will be located in the Muppets Courtyard area, which began a phased closure in May 2025, and the entire area was closed as of June 8th, 2025. This includes Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano, Muppet*Vision 3D, and PizzeRizzo. A new ‘Monsters, Inc’ land is coming! Disney hasn’t yet announced an opening timeline for the new Monsters, Inc. land, which appears to be named Monstropolis based on an exhibit that is located inside Walt Disney Presents in Hollywood Studios. However, progress is definitely being made in the area, and we spotted TWO new permits for construction! The first permit is for Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano, and it is for “general construction.” The permit was filed by Walt Disney Imagineering for work to be done by PCL Construction Services, Inc. We are thinking this is the start of the transformation for the new Monsters, Inc. land, but “general construction” permits could be for just about anything, so we don’t know exactly what work they will be completing. But something is definitely happening at Mama Melrose’s! Mama Melrose’s The second permit is very similar to the first, except it is for Pizzerizzo. The permit is also for “general construction” and was filed by Walt Disney Imagineering with PCL Construction Services, Inc. listed as the contractor. Again, “general construction” is a very vague description, and we don’t know what the permit is for specifically, but based on what we know, it is likely related to Monstropolis. PizzeRizzo The story of the land will pick up after the events of the popular Pixar film, and humans have now been invited to visit. So far, we know the new land will feature Disney’s very first suspended roller coaster, which is inspired by the door scene from Monsters, Inc. Disney has already started putting up construction walls and fencing off an area where Cast Member parking used to be located to build this new roller coaster. ©Disney The land will also feature a new theater show. Based on concept art, we are also expecting there to be a Harryhausen’s Restaurant in this new land. Of course, we will keep you updated as we learn more about this new land! ©Disney Stay tuned to DFB for all your Disney World news! 20 Big Changes Disney Has Already Announced for 2026 Join the DFB Newsletter to get all the breaking news right in your inbox!
