It’s time to play the music; it’s time to light the lights — er, well, okay, it’s not entirely time yet, but we’re just too excited about the Muppets retheme of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. ©Disney While no official closing date has been announced yet, Disney has confirmed that Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets will open in summer 2026. Not only that, but they’ve confirmed that there will be a brand-new Scooter animatronic — and they’ve teased that there could potentially be more. 2. In just a few weeks, we’ll go from singing “This is Halloween” to “Jingle Bells,” and we are SO ready for the holiday season in Disney World. @Disney One of the most magical holiday things you can do in Disney World is go to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party and enjoy all the special party activities, the food, and the SNOAP (y’all, the snoap just makes it that much more special). However, there are also exclusive souvenirs you can grab at the party. Now, Disney previously gave us a look at the party spirit jersey and ears, but now, we’ve got a first look at even MORE exclusive merchandise you’ll be able to get if you’ve got a party ticket. Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party is a separate ticketed event that happens in Magic Kingdom on select nights from November 7th through December 21st. Your party ticket will get you into the event early, and you’ll have access to buy special party-exclusive souvenirs. That includes a Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas party spirit jersey and ears. ©Disney However, Disney just shared a first look at other exclusive merchandise you’ll be able to get at the party. That includes this sweet Mickey’s Very Merry Loungefly Bag featuring Mickey, Minnie, Chip, and Dale in their holiday finest. The castle is also decked out for the holidays in the middle of the bag. ©Disney You’ll also be able to grab Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party Mug, which is perfect for sipping holiday hot cocoa out of. ©Disney Need a little something for your Christmas tree? You’ll be able to pick up the Mickey’s Very Merry Ornament, which stars Chip ‘n’ Dale! ©Disney Be sure to get plenty of photos at the party, so you can frame your favorite in the Mickey’s Very Merry-Themed Magnet Picture Frame. It’s a magnet, so you can put it right on your fridge for everyone to see. ©Disney Remember, you can’t buy any of this merchandise without a party ticket, but it will be available at the Emporium on Main Street, U.S.A. during party hours. Pro tip: Grab the souvenirs you want early before they sell out! Stay tuned to DFB for more. 3. Disney World offers a Disability Access Service (DAS) for visitors with a developmental disability, “like autism or similar,” who are unable to wait in a traditional queue for extended periods of time. Magic Kingdom This service has changed significantly over the past year as Disney has updated its restrictions and registration process. Now, it appears Disney has updated the language surrounding DAS once again. The Disney World website has a dedicated page for its Disability Access Service. Here, families can learn more about the service, including information on how it works, how to register, and where to look for frequently asked questions. As of October, the “Speak with a Cast Member” section of the website was updated with more information. This change makes the rules and requirements for video calls more explicit. ©Disney To utilize the Disability Access Service in the Disney parks, visitors must first speak with a Cast Member who determines eligibility for DAS. The Disney World website lays out the steps users must take to engage in a live video chat, highlighting rules including (but not limited to): The recording of this video chat is strictly prohibited The Guest requesting DAS either for themself or for someone else (e.g. a minor child) must be 18 years of age or older to register The Guest for whom DAS is being requested must be present during the video chat. For comparison, this is what the old “Speak with a Cast Member” section looked like. ©Disney This change is not the first since Disney overhauled its DAS policy in 2024. In May, for example, Disney World extended the period during which its Disability Access Service (DAS) is valid. DAS is now valid for up to one year after approval. Prior to that, DAS was only valid for 30 days (with Disney extending it to 120 days and later, 240 days). Disney’s Hollywood Studios Originally, DAS was offered to those with a wide range of disabilities, but that is no longer the case. Before the 2024 changes, the service allowed those to enter the Lightning Lane line via a return time after they were approved for the service. Then, in May of 2024 at Disney World and June of 2024 at Disneyland, the service changed as Disney wanted to tackle the overuse of the service. The wording was adjusted to state that only select guests qualify for this service “due to a developmental disability like autism or similar disorder.” Magic Kingdom This left many with non-developmental disabilities — but who might still benefit from the service — out of luck, and they were offered accommodations instead of DAS. These accommodations included being told to purchase Lighting Lane or talk to Cast Members at each attraction to see what accommodations they could provide. Haunted Mansion We’ll be on the lookout for additional changes to Disney’s DAS program and more updates from Disney World and beyond. 4. Aquatica, SeaWorld Orlando’s water park, is introducing an after-hours holiday event called Illuminate, a walk-through lantern festival. The after-dark activity will be held on 42 select nights — primarily weekends — between Nov. 8 and Jan. 31. “From glowing mermaids and candy-colored forests to a lantern safari brought to life on our Serengeti Express train, this festival will light up the night in a way that is both completely new and uniquely Aquatica,” Bradley Gilmour, Aquatica’s park president, said in a news release. The event will features five glowing environments, including AquaLuma (the legend of five animal guardians), Candy Cascade Falls (sparkling lollipops, peppermint paths), Enchanted Lagoon (mermaid, possible sea unicorn sighting), Myst Wood Waters (dragonflies, chameleons, Great Tree of Light) and Rivers of Discovery (lantern-lit safair with lions, flamingos, more). Illuminate will also include a s’more station, craft zone, a mini Serengeti Express train and Kiwi Santa meet and greet inspired by New Zealand traditions. The event’s operating hours will be 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. The park’s slides, pools and waterways will not be open during Illuminate. Ticket prices range from $29.99 to $31.99, depending on date. 5. A Canadian airline, WestJet, recently announced a “full cabin refresh” of its fleet, promising upgraded Premium seating on planes that previously offered only Economy seating. ©WestJet WestJet teased an “upgraded design” with a focus on new seats. These seats will feature adjustable headrests, enhanced cushion and back support, and a “fixed recline design in Economy that helps preserve personal space.” So, what does this mean, exactly? To put it simply, WestJet plans to charge extra for reclining seats on its newly redesigned aircraft. The standard Economy seats will be updated to a “fixed recline.” In a statement to ABC News, WestJet explained that it found that some travelers prefer a fixed recline, “to avoid feeling impacted by other passengers encroaching upon their space.” If a passenger wants the regular recline option, they can upgrade to the Extended Comfort or Premium cabins in the reconfigured aircraft. ©WestJet At this time, not all WestJet planes feature the updated seat options. The redesigned planes make up less than a third of its narrowbody fleet. Some flight routes, like the Calgary to Orlando flight, currently offer either Economy or Premium tickets. ©WestJet The first plane with the new seat design is set to begin service in October, according to ABC News. Additional panes (42 total) are scheduled to be ready “early next year.” Orlando International Airport If you purchase an Economy ticket, note that certain ticket types may have restrictions. The “Econo” Economy ticket, for example, does not come with advance seat selection, and any changes or cancelations will cost an extra fee. Checked bags are also not included in the cheapest ticket type. ©WestJet This news comes amid a series of controversial airline announcements. Southwest Airlines recently made headlines when it announced the end of its “Bags fly free” policy. ©Southwest Airlines So, if you want to recline your seat, you may want to read the fine print before you purchase your next airline ticket. In general, the better the deal seems to be, the fewer included benefits will come with your ticket. In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest travel news, so stay tuned for more. 6. If you’re a Disneyland fan, you’re probably wanting to get your hands on a Magic Key, which is Disneyland’s version of an Annual Pass. Exclusive Magic Key Lounge However, getting a Magic Key is easier said than done because sales of Magic Keys are limited, and for now, sales have been on hold for a little while. However, Magic Key sales do open again from time to time, and if you want to nab one, make sure November 4th is marked on your calendar because Magic Key sales will resume then. Imagine and Believe Magic Key Sales are set to resume on November 4th, no earlier than 9 AM PST, with the online queue opening no earlier than 8:45 AM PST. 7. It’s no secret that Walt Disney World Annual Passholders receive a lot of perks along with their membership; however, some fly under the radar. Disney World Annual Pass I’ve been writing about Disney theme parks for over 7 years, and during that period, I’ve seen Disney World Annual Pass perks change along with prices, tiers, and blackout dates. While the most popular perks tend to revolve around savings on souvenirs, there are others that some guests might not even think of. Food & Merchandise Before we get to some of the more under-the-radar AP perks, a quick word for a pair of the best-known. Passholders can save big on merchandise across the resort, even at some non-Disney-owned stores at Disney Springs. Discounts range from 10%-20%, sometimes more. Note that these discounts are for personal use only, meaning they don’t want you sharing it with your friends. It’s also only valid on certain items and may not be combined with any other discount, offer, or promotion.” Disney Merchandise Annual Passholders can also save 10% on their meal at most restaurants across the resort. Of note, these discounts are only for the use of Passholders and, unless otherwise noted, up to 3 Guests, only during each location’s regular dining hours, unless otherwise noted, and not valid on certain menu items and may not be combined with any other discount, offer, or promotion. 50’s Prime Time! Parking Included Let’s begin with one of the biggest AP savings: Parking. All levels of Disney World Annual Passes include parking across the Walt Disney World Resort. While that may not sound like much in theory, parking at Disney’s theme parks currently costs $35 per day for a standard car or motorcycle and either $50, $55, or $60 per day (depending on the day) for preferred car or motorcycle parking. It adds up quick. EPCOT parking lot Parkhopper Included Annual passes also include Park Hopper privileges, allowing Passholders to visit multiple parks a day. To add that option to a standard park ticket costs somewhere in the range of $100 per ticket. Animal Kingdom Entrance Save on Special Ticket Events Annual Passholders can save on tickets to special events like Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party and Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. For example, Annual Passholders buying tickets to the latter can save $10 per ticket for event dates from November 7th to November 21st and November 30th to December 4th, 2025. ©Disney Special Previews In recent years, Disney has offered Annual Passholders the chance to experience previews of new attractions before the general public. In recent years alone, we’ve seen this with Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, Test Track, and the upcoming Zootopia: Better Zoogether show at Animal Kingdom. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure This perk will likely only increase in value in the coming years thanks to upcoming projects like the Muppet Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster, Piston Peak, Monsters, Inc. land, and Villains Land, all of which will likely have massive demand upon their openings. Monsters, Inc. Coaster Model Freedom to Come and Go Without Pressure Annual Passholders can relax and enjoy the parks at their own pace without worrying about missing their “chance” to experience a ride, show, or attraction. If something goes down, they can simply experience it next time. TRON Lightcycle / Run Launch Room Exclusives! And, of course, there are exclusive collectibles, including magnets, buttons, and other similar knick-knacks. While these souvenirs may seem minor in the grand scheme of things, they’re some of our favorite Disney offerings, and the evolving characters featured make them a nice little collection to build year after year. New Crush magnet These are just a few things offered to Disney World Annual Passholders. They recieve special merchandise, discounts, exclusive access to certain spots around the parks, and so much more as well. We will be keeping an eye on everything offered for Annual Passholders, along with price increases and new discounts! Stay tuned to DFB for more. 9. Halloween will be over before you know it, and soon, Mickey wreaths and Christmas trees will be EVERYWHERE in Disney World. A little boat modification for the holidays It’s no secret that the holidays are a magical time in Disney World. You’ve got all the festive decor in the parks, the EPCOT Festival of the Holidays, Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, and Jollywood Nights. However, one of our favorite parts of the holiday season is the holiday overlay on Jungle Cruise in Magic Kingdom, and now we know that Jingle Cruise will be returning this year on November 3rd. Yes, Jingle Cruise is returning on November 3rd, so you’ll soon be able to take a ride on one of those classic boats with a fun holiday theme. Jingle Cruise is returning! You’ll get to hear some new punny jokes on the cruise appropriate for the season, and you’ll get to enjoy a queue that’s been decorated for the season (and the Jingle Cruise queue makes standing in the long lines for the ride SO worth it). Even the famous Jungle Cruise boats get renamed for the season to give them more of a holiday feel. The holiday puns never end However, the Jingle Cruise brings something else to the ride…LONG lines. This holiday ride is VERY popular, so if you want to grab a ride on it, be prepared to stand in some long lines. However, the ride is available through Lightning Lane Multi Pass, so you may want to consider paying for that to skip the long standby lines for the shorter Lightning Lane. 12. The United States Department of State has issued new travel advisories that you may need to know about if you’re planning any upcoming trips. Beware of travel advisories before you venture on your trip! Travel advisories are typically issued when there are warnings about happenings in countries that travelers need to heed. While these new travel advisories do not impact Disney vacation destinations, they could still be worth knowing about for any travel plans you might have in the future. The U.S. Department of State recently issued new high-level travel advisories for two countries: Madagascar and Sudan. The Madagascar advisory, which was issued on September 27th, is a Level 3, meaning that travelers should “Reconsider Travel” to the country altogether. The description says crime and unrest are the main reasons for this advisory. via US State Department The travel advisory for Sudan was updated on October 15th, and is a Level 4: Do Not Travel. This advisory is due to crime and unrest, armed conflict, terrorism, landmines, and health concerns. via US State Department For reference, below are the different levels the State Department uses as part of these travel advisories: Level 1: Exercise Normal Precautions Level 2: Exercise Increased Caution Level 3: Reconsider Travel Level 4: Do Not Travel ©State Department While these advisories don’t impact any Disney travel destinations, we have seen advisories issued for Disney destinations in the past, so make sure you double-check the State Department’s website for the most updated information — or check back here for more updates. 13. There is so much going on in Disneyland Paris! The Glace Magnum Le Roi Lion They are majorly expanding their second park and even giving it a new name to match the new atmosphere! While we eagerly await the changes, we got snackish during our last trip, so we tested out the Glace Magnum Le Roi Lion at Walt Disney Studios Park. There are tons of different snacks to try in Disneyland Paris, but there’s nothing quite like an ice-cold treat during the day! At the Ice Cream Creations truck in World Premiere Plaza, you can find several sweet treats inspired by popular Disney films. The menu! We tested out the Glace Magnum Le Roi Lion for 6€ (roughly $6.95). This ice cream is made with vanilla ice cream, a dark chocolate coating, chopped almonds, broken corn flakes, and hazelnuts for a bronze effect! Plus, it’s topped off with a chocolate piece to look like Simba from the film. The Lion King Ice Cream! This thing was so gorgeous! One of the most interesting parts of the dessert is that you get to watch Cast Members make it right in front of you. Talk about building anticipation while we wait. Watch them pour the chocolate drizzle! This treat was delicious! It was chocolatey, and the outside layer added a really nice subtle break as we bit into it. The vanilla ice cream was creamy and had a subtle richness that felt complex yet familiar. Inside the bar! The design was super cute and intricate, which added an amazing crunch to each bite. The almonds, corn flakes, and hazelnuts were texturally nice, but they didn’t offer a flavor that was notable. A closer look at the toppings We will also say that it was very messy and melted rather quickly, so be sure to grab extra napkins if you want to enjoy this. The taste itself was familiar and simple, but it wasn’t anything to rant and rave over. The decorations and experience made this treat much more exciting, and we would honestly grab it again! So beautiful! We loved getting to try this treat that’s exclusive to Walt Disney Studios Park during our visit! 16. If you know us, you know we’re suckers for over-the-top treats, especially when it comes to desserts. We love a sweet that’s topped with scoops of ice cream or loaded up with chocolate, but above all, we love a massive cookie! And if you’re heading to Disneyland Resort soon, there’s one place you can get your hands on a cookie that definitely earns the “giant” in its name. We recently stopped by Sketch Pad Cafe at Pixar Place Hotel to check out a gigantic sweet treat. Yep, take a look at this beauty! WOW The Giant Cookie (aptly named) is $12 and has chocolate chunks, berry jam, and caramel sauce on top. It’s dusted with powdered sugar, and it’s definitely shareable, because this thing is the size of your hand, easy. Huge indeed It’s soft on the inside, but it wasn’t served warm (rather, more room temperature). It has a sweet flavor overall, and the chocolate comes through well. We were surprised by how much we enjoyed the berry jam, but the caramel doesn’t really add much to the flavor profile. You have to slice it, it’s so big! Ultimately, it’s certainly not the best cookie you can find in Disneyland Resort, but it IS fairly yummy. We’d probably choose the Harbor Galley cookies, the Cookie Num Num, or chocolate chip cookies from any of the confectionery locations over this. Its novelty is mostly in its size. Get it if you’d like, but it’s not a must-try. We’ll make sure to keep you in the loop with any other snacks that you might want to try around Disneyland Resort! 17. What you pack for your Disney World vacation can really transform it from a chaotic situation to a smooth trip! Cinderella Castle Between juggling park bags, strollers, souvenirs, and snack cups, it’s easy for things to go missing faster than your Dole Whip melting in the middle of July. Add in airport travel, resort check-ins, and navigating the crowds, and you’ve got a recipe for some serious stress. That’s where Apple’s AirTags come in. These tiny, coin-sized trackers can save you major headaches during your next Disney trip. Here’s why more Disney guests are packing them in their luggage for vacation. DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. 1. Keep Track of Your Luggage During Travel The journey to Disney World might begin with a flight, and anyone who’s dealt with a lost suitcase knows the stress that comes with it. AirTags let you track your luggage every step of the way. From check-in to baggage claim at Orlando International Airport (MCO), you can have peace of mind. Using the Find My app on your iPhone, you can see your bag’s real-time location and even watch it make its way to your gate. Orlando International Airport If your suitcase doesn’t arrive when you do, you’ll know exactly where it is, whether it got left behind in another city or is sitting on the wrong carousel. Frequent travelers swear by this hack, and it’s especially useful for Disney guests who use airport transportation or third-party shuttles to reach their resort. The peace of mind of knowing your luggage is actually in Orlando. Baggage Get the Apple Airtags Here! ©Amazon You can get a four-pack of Apple Airtags on Amazon. This will allow you to put them in each of your travel bags, and then you can also use them in the Disney parks during your trip! View on Amazon 2. Never Lose Your Park Bag or Stroller Again Every parent knows the stroller parking zones at Disney World can look like a sea of identical wheels and handles. Cast Members often move strollers around to keep pathways clear, which means the spot you parked in might not be where you find it later. Pop an AirTag in your stroller’s cup holder, diaper bag, or even under a seat cushion, and you’ll be able to locate it in seconds if it gets moved. Stroller parking It’s also a great idea for park backpacks. You can clip an AirTag to an inside pocket, so if your bag is left behind at an attraction or dining area, you can quickly track it. Instead of retracing steps through Tomorrowland in a panic, your phone will literally point you right to it. Sea of strollers Order these Mickey and Minnie Airtag Keychains ©Amazon You can grab these Mickey and Minnie keychains that hold an Apple AirTag inside. Not only will they be functional for tracking your items, but they are adorable too! View on Amazon 3. Keep Tabs on Kids and Family Members Now, let’s be clear, AirTags aren’t designed to track people. But many families use them responsibly as a quick safety net in crowded places like Disney World. Attaching an AirTag to a child’s lanyard, shoe, or backpack can give parents an extra layer of reassurance during those heart-stopping moments when your little one wanders off in a crowd. Disney Starlight Crowds The parks get especially hectic during parades, fireworks, and holiday weeks. Having an AirTag can help you narrow down your child’s general location while Cast Members assist. There are also AirTag keychains and wristbands made specifically for kids, which make it simple to keep track of them without being intrusive. Combined with a family meeting spot and safety plan, it’s one of the smartest ways to stay calm and connected in the chaos. Hollywood Studios Crowds Grab these Character AirTag Covers Here ©Amazon This four-pack of AirTag covers features some of your favorite Disney pals! They come with a pin on the back, making it easy to secure to a bag, your kid’s clothing, or more! View on Amazon 4. Find Lost Valuables Quickly Between hopping on rides, juggling snacks, and swapping gear in lockers, it’s easy for small items to vanish. Beltbags, cameras, wallets — they all have a way of disappearing during a Disney trip. Tuck an AirTag inside your park backpack or camera bag. Lost and Found At your Disney Resort, AirTags can help track down valuables that might have slipped under a bed or been left in a dresser drawer. Guests have even used them to locate items they accidentally left at the pool or in the laundry area. And if you drop something at an attraction, you’ll be able to tell Guest Relations exactly where to look. It’s one of those small hacks that can turn a stressful situation into a quick fix. Lockers in EPCOT These Character AirTag Keychains are Perfect for Disney! ©Amazon These Disney-inspired holders have designs on one side, with a laser-cut slot on the other side for easy installation of your AirTag. View on Amazon 5. Peace of Mind You Can’t Put a Price On Let’s face it: a Disney World vacation is a major investment. With park tickets, food, hotels, and Lightning Lanes, every bit of extra security helps you protect that investment and your sanity. AirTags cost around $29, but the peace of mind they offer is worth so much more. Whether it’s making sure your luggage arrives safely, your stroller stays where you left it, or your essentials are always within reach, these little trackers help you spend less time worrying and more time enjoying the magic. Main Street, U.S.A. You can’t control everything at Disney World, but with a few AirTags, you can control the things that matter most. For more Disney World tips, follow DFB! 19. I don’t care if it’s overrated: my favorite ride at EPCOT is closing soon, and even if it’s for a good reason, I’m still bummed. Frozen Ever After When this ride closes, it’s going to change your EPCOT strategy, including what you rope drop, use Lightning Lanes for, and how you spend your time, so listen up! You might need to know this before your next EPCOT trip. Frozen Ever After will be closing for a refurbishment to update the current animatronics. If you’ve been on the ride recently, you might have said, “Oof, I’ve seen better audio-animatronics,” but hey, in 2016, we thought face projection was pretty cool. Frozen Ever After animatronics The technology will be updated to match the animatronics on Frozen Ever After in Hong Kong Disneyland, which, by the way, has a whole area dedicated to Frozen. The transformation is set for early next year to make the characters look more “true-to-film.” Hong Kong Disneyland Animatronics Currently, we don’t have exact dates, but considering it’s slated for early next year and it’s almost the end of this year, it’s going to come upon us fast. Dates are still currently listed through December 14th, which is as far as the Disney World calendar goes right now, but we’re keeping our eye on it so you can be the first to know when it’s closing. ©Disney How is this going to affect your EPCOT day? Well, this is one of the most popular rides to rope drop, and even if it’s not your preferred ride to start with, there aren’t that many attractions in EPCOT, so people might be heading towards your favorite attraction. Frozen Ever After Rides like Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, Test Track, and Cosmic Rewind: Guardians of the Galaxy might have heavier lines while Frozen Ever After is down. If you’re planning on hitting those attractions, you might need to line up for rope drop earlier than expected or go for different attractions you might not think about, like Soarin’ Around the World, where you can knock out a few smaller rides in the morning. Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure rider entrance Don’t forget about all the EPCOT character meet and greets, too. Who doesn’t want to start their day meeting their favorite princess? Elsa meet and greet In terms of Lightning Lanes, when you start booking, you can choose one from the top tier and two, or all three, from the lower group. Frozen Ever After is in the top tier, so you’ll want to reprioritize your Lightning Lanes. Top-tier attractions: Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure Test Track Second-tier attractions: Disney and Pixar Short Film Festival Journey into Imagination with Figment Living with the Land Mission: SPACE The Seas with Nemo & Friends Soarin’ Around the World Spaceship Earth Turtle Talk with Crush Cosmic Rewind (February 2025) This also means that the other top-tier attractions will be harder to get because there’s one less to snag. Be prepared for tougher competition! I sure am looking forward to this new Frozen Ever After update because such an iconic ride deserves all the love and refurbishments in the world. 20. Here at DFB, we’ve always got our eyes on Amazon to track the newest and coolest offerings on the site! Growing up, my neighbors across the street had a BASEMENT FULL of LEGOs, and I’ve been chasing that dream my whole life! ©LEGO If you’re looking to build (no, I can NEVER resist making that pun) out your LEGO collection, 10 NEW sets just dropped on Amazon, right in time for holiday shopping! DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. While all of these sets are pretty amazing in my opinion, I’ve been challenged to RANK them. So, I’m taking into account the overall aesthetic, how fun they look to build, and how useful they are. Let’s gooooooo! 10. Christmas Candle We’ll start with this LEGO Christmas Candle. Those of you who love Grandmacore — this one’s for you! It reminds me of my grandmother’s Christmas table centerpiece, but I think it would also look swell on a fireplace mantle. ©Amazon Check out those pine needles! This one is heavy on the details, and I’m personally obsessed with those gold snowflakes. It has 433-pieces and builds into a 7.1-inch H x 8.3-inch W x 9.4-inch candle display, including the candle ring. What’s a candle ring? It’s the fake floral stuff that goes around a candle. (Wait, does knowing that make me old?) I REALLY like this one, and I feel bad about making it No. 10. I’m just putting that holiday stuff there since you can really only display it a few weeks a year. (Unless you live in a Christmas House, and that’s cool. You do you.) SHOP HERE 9. Santa’s Delivery Truck From Grandmacore to INSANELY ADORABLE, this 224-piece LEGO set creates an fun delivery truck, complete with an elf driver and a tree on top! With the lower number of pieces, this looks like a fun set to put together with the kiddos in your life. I’m guessing it will come together in a hour or two. ©Amazon The truck opens to reveal Christmas presents inside the truck. It also includes a special letter to Santa (A LETTER TO SANTA!!!), Santa’s sack, and a colorful sticker sheet. My question with these Christmas-themed sets, though, is: Is this an appropriate Christmas gift or not? You receive it and than have to put it away for a year (unless you’ve got that Christmas House we talked about — it’s looking better all the time). Maybe we should all be exchanging stuff like this at Thanksgiving? SHOP HERE 8. LEGO City Advent Calendar YOU KNEW THIS WAS GONNA BE HERE!!! Of course, there is a LEGO Advent Calendar. (I mean…thank goodness!) ©Amazon December is EXHAUSTING. Advent calendars are a tiny, daily hit of dopamine we all need to deal with the shopping and the parties and the baking and the kids — especially in that final week before Christmas when they’re HOME.FROM.SCHOOL. This 186-piece Advent Calendar counts down to Christmas with 24 days’ worth of surprises, including Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus minifigures, minifigures of other characters wearing Christmas sweaters, as well as a slew of mini models and accessories, including mini-vehicles and toys. Listen — a little tip from me to you, though: If you get this and tell your kid you’ll do the Advent Calendar with him every day, make sure you SET BOUNDARIES about how early he’s allowed to wake you up to build said Advent Calendar window’s little delight for the day. TRUST. SHOP HERE 7. Minecraft Advent Calendar If there’s one thing I learned from Jack Black this year, it’s that people are still really into Minecraft. Chicken Jockey! ©Amazon So, I submit for your consideration this LEGO Minecraft Advent Calendar! This 300-piece set counts down to Christmas with 24 days’ worth of surprises themed to the popular video game franchise. Pieces include mini figures of Alex, Steve, a creeper, drowned, stray, snow golem, zombie and a Santa villager (WHARRRRR????), all with accessories and festive touches that can be combined with a fold-out playmat that provides the perfect backdrop for imaginary gaming adventures. However: again with the waking-up boundaries. SHOP HERE 6. Harry Potter Room of Requirement Now, I can’t make any promises, but rumor has it that if you walk by the Room of Requirement three times while concentrating hard, the room turns into whatever you want it to be. ©Amazon I’m pretty sure this LEGO Room of Requirement won’t change form, but it’ll still be fun building it and adding to your Harry Potter LEGO collection…(and ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN, MUGGLE). This is a 202-piece set that includes a Neville Longbottom minifigure (NATCH) as well as racks of ancient items, 2 hammocks, benches, a chimney, and a portrait of Harry Potter and friends. This is itching all of my tiny things scratches I will tell you that. SHOP HERE 5. Krusty Burger I cannot believe that The Simpsons have been around for more than 35 years. How OLD are we?!? ANYWAY, MOVING ON. ©Amazon And with more than 1.600 pieces…this might feel like it takes 35 years to build! It’s been 35 years… But I know that there are plenty of fans out there ready to put this one on their LEGO shelves. (LEGO shelves are a thing, right? It’s not just me? Please say it’s not just me!) The set includes a Krusty Burger restaurant, pole sign, Homer’s clown car and Homer, Bart and Lisa Simpson, Farmer Krusty, Sideshow Bob, Squeaky Voiced Teen (my personal minifig) and Officer Lou minifigures. You can even lift off the roof and fold out the Krusty Burger model to access a highly detailed interior with a kitchen, dining area and restroom. SHOP HERE 4. Speed Champions Lightning McQueen If you’re looking for an easier build, let me introduce you to this new Lightning McQueen set that’s out in honor of the 20th anniversary of Cars. Y’all — this would have been ALL up in my haus when my kid was smol. ©Amazon This one has just 202 pieces, and features Lightning built out in full detail, including his lightning bolt, his headlight stickers, the number 95, Rust-Eze sponsor logo, Lightyear logos imprinted on the tires, and a detailed undercarriage. The only issue? It’s only available for preorder now, and isn’t being released until June of 2026. So in other words, when you gift it for Christmas it’ll be one of those computer print-out pictures tucked into the little box. SHOP HERE 3. Glinda’s Wedding THIS DEEP CUUUUUUT!!!! Remember the scene last fall — when every brand imaginable did a collab with Wicked? Well, if you aren’t a Wicked fan, I’m sorry to report that the second Wicked movie (yes, the story is being released in two parts) is coming out in November, and you’re about to see another wave of Wicked-themed products landing in stores. ©Amazon Fortunately for this LEGO set, I AM a Wicked fan, so it’s ranking way up there near the top! You get to help Glinda prepare for her wedding in this set that is built for play, rather than just display. If you have a mini-Wicked fan, I’ve got a plan for you! This is the set you need to rope them into your LEGO addiction so you have someone else to blame for all the LEGO sets you buy. It has 476 pieces and includes 2 large, posable LEGO butterflies that pull apart to reveal a detailed wedding scene with authentic movie details, a wedding cake and heart-shaped invitation, a bouquet from Fiyero, and a facial expression for Glinda that changes “from happy to horrified” as animal figures storm the festive scene. Um, eek? SHOP HERE 2. Thing’s Apartment If you’re a fan of the Netflix’s Wednesday, you’ll understand why I love how this set channels Nevermore Academy’s gothic weirdness! magine you’re lugging around a heavy trunk — except this one doesn’t contain your dirty laundry, it is the home of Thing and his secret quarters. You even get an Enid Sinclair minidoll, so you can stage those tension-filled roommate scenes — Will she try to get Wednesday to talk, or will Wednesday lunge off a cliff again? (Just kidding. Kind of.) ©Amazon The first of two Wednesday sets on our list, this 828-piece set transforms from a trunk into the Thing’s apartment, complete with a bed, chair, fashionable hat, and watch, plus a posable Thing figure and, of course, Enid Sinclair. And closing the trunk turns it into stylish decor, so your living room doesn’t scream “I’m obsessed with a spooky TV show,” unless that’s what you want! SHOP HERE 1. Morticia’s Cottage If you’ve ever wondered where Morticia goes to brood, brew, or just sip a cup of something with a little morbidezza, this is it! The Morticia’s Cottage LEGO set opens up into a six-room, two-story modular cottage complete with a kitchen (for potion prep or perhaps soup with a side of shadows), a living room with a removable fireplace wall, a séance chamber (naturally!), a bathroom with swords (because one never knows when a duel might erupt), and a cozy upstairs bedroom. It even includes the Addams’ family car so your minidolls can cruise the haunted roads outside Nevermore. ©Amazon The set brings in four key minidolls: Wednesday, Morticia, Lurch, and Bianca Barclay. You can stage a midnight séance with Wednesday staring stoically from the corner. The modular design lets you hinge open wings for play or snap it shut for haunting display. So why does this one sit at No. 1 on our LEGO list? First, it’s a big build with 1,002 pieces of gothic delight. Second, its balance of playability and display is top notch: Parts open for storytelling, but the overall profile is elegant (in a spooky sort of way) when closed. 21. It seems like the U.S. has gone theme park crazy, with new experiences and theme parks on the way. Universal just opened its horror experience, Universal Horror Unleashed, while the company is building a NEW theme park, Universal Kids Resort, in Frisco, Texas. ©Retro Escapes Well, ANOTHER new theme park will be coming to Las Vegas soon, and it’s sort of like Disney’s Pop Century Resort…but with rides. It’s called RestroEscapes, and it’s about to to take you back to the 1950s, 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s. Retro Escapes will be the world’s first theme park focused on nostalgia. It will have five decade-themed lands, the 1950s, 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s, along with a Tomorrow Zone “offering a glimpse into the unknown future. The theme park is promising “immersive attractions, rides, activities, dining, shopping, and live entertainment tailored to the unique cultural and aesthetic elements of each of the five decades. The entrance will be a time-travel portal that gives you access to each land. ©Retro Escapes We also have concept artwork of each land. The 1950s will feature that lovely pink and teal color scheme from the era, as well as fun Neon lights. There will be a restaurant called The King Restaurant and Bar, where we hope to find a peanut butter and banana sandwich (Elvis’ fave). ©Retro Escapes The 1960s will focus on the peace and love symbols of that decade, and it looks like there will also be a groovy coffee house. ©Retro Escapes Welcome to the 1970s, which was all about disco, as well as glitz and glamour. It looks like there will also be a Disco Bar with mirror balls galore. ©Retro Escapes The 80s will focus on the decade of decadence and will include a Pac-Man themed Game Bar, as well as a mall-themed food court. ©Retro Escapes The 1990s will have a skate park, but will also have grunge-themed establishments. ©Retro Escapes The Tomorrow Zone looks a lot like Tomorrowland, although it’s a bit more of an updated concept of the whole futuristic vibe. ©Retro Escapes What’s unclear at this point is what kind of rides and attractions this new theme park might have. However, the park is still in its early development stage, so a lot of the details could change before actual construction begins. 22. Hi. I have to confess something, and sharing my truth with a group of Disney fans seems like the best thing to do in this case, so stick with me. I just got back from a short (and rainy — boo!!) trip to Disneyland Paris. Disneyland Paris is a charming park with enough classic Disney similarities to make it feel familiar and enough differences to make it special. I loved it! You give me a dragon (yes, there’s a dragon under the castle), and I give you a 5/5. It’s simple! Welcome to Disneyland Paris! Now, like I said, this was a short trip. I wanted to get through as many rides as possible in a limited amount of time, so I opted to purchase Disney Premier Access. This is Disneyland Paris’ skip-the-line service, and it works a little differently than the skip-the-line service in Disney World. One of the biggest differences? The PRICE. Holy cow. I need to talk about it. There are two different ways to skip the line in Disneyland Paris. You can buy one pass that lets you skip the lines for some of the resort’s most popular attractions (Disney Premier Access Ultimate), or you can pay-per-ride, receiving a skip-the-line pass for one attraction, one time (Disney Premier Access One). ©Disney As I was planning my trip, I was enticed by the Ultimate Pass. I liked the fact that, unlike Disney World, there is NO allocated time slot to skip the line. I liked being able to skip multiple lines without having to make multiple purchases. I liked taking care of it in advance. What I didn’t like? The price. Now, the price varies depending on the date, but during my visit, I paid €130, which translates to $131.68. For ONE person. On ONE day. “it’s a small world” in Disneyland Paris For comparison, Disney World’s skip-the-line service is priced a little differently. First of all, in Florida, they call it a Lightning Lane Multi Pass or a Lightning Lane Single Pass, and the names are pretty self-explanatory. The Single Pass is Disney’s pay-per-ride service, while the Multi Pass works for several rides in the park. You can also pay for Lightning Lane Premier Pass, which allows you to skip all the lines in ONE Disney World park once, and that ranges from $129 to $449 per person, per day. Lightning Lane Disney World’s Lightning Lane Multi Pass pricing also changes depending on the date, but in general, the price ranges from about $18 per person, per day to $35 per person, per day. After hearing that I paid $131 for a similar perk, this doesn’t seem so bad, eh? Suddenly I regretted all my old complaints about the price of Disney World’s Lightning Lane Multi Pass. ©Disney Back in Disneyland Paris, I made the most of that pass, scanning into as many rides as possible. Often, though, the standby wait time wasn’t long to begin with, so my “express pass” didn’t feel so…express. If I were to go again or do it all over, I would probably opt for the pay-per-ride service instead, a.k.a. Disney Premier Access One. The wait times were often lower than what I expected (maybe I’m just used to Florida’s high wait times), so I didn’t really need that Ultimate pass. Oh well! You live and you learn. Or, you read this and learn from my mistakes. Orbitron in Disneyland Paris Oh, and while we’re on the subject of express passes, I should point out that Universal Orlando’s skip-the-line service isn’t a bargain, either. While their version of an express pass is free with select Universal Resort stays, it costs between $119.99–$359.99 for the one-time-per-ride pass and $149.99–$359.99 for the unlimited rides pass. OUCH! ©Universal So, what’s the lesson here? If you want that V.I.P. line-skipping privilege, prepare to pay a premium. Sure, it’s no fun paying $30 per person to skip the lines in Magic Kingdom, but just be glad you’re not paying $90 per person like you could be at Universal Orlando. It’s all about perspective! (And yes, I remember the days when it was FREE to skip all these lines, but those days are long gone, people.) FastPass+ Kiosk that used to be in the park The good news is that the trusty old standby line is still free no matter where you go! If you’re strategic about when you hit the parks and the order in which you prioritize your rides, you might not even need an express pass anyway. Oh, and we have a TON of handy tricks on how to make the most of your time in Disney World, so keep reading for more tips! 25. Universal has been doing a lot of expanding beyond its Orlando and Hollywood theme park locations. For example, Universal Horror Unleashed just opened (with terrifying results) in Las Vegas. Universal is also building a theme park in the U.K. ©Universal However, we’ve been keeping an eye on a NEW Universal theme park in the U.S., Universal Kids Resort, located in Frisco, Texas. Well, Universal just dropped some new details about that park, and y’all…we are EXCITED. Universal Kids Resort is a new theme park aimed at entertaining kids and families. The park is set to open in 2026 and will feature seven new lands. Universal just revealed new details about those lands. When you enter the park, you’ll find yourself in Isle of Curiosity, a “whimsical gateway” that will feature spaces for kids to explore. Kids will also be able to meet Gabby from Gabby’s Dollhouse here as well as attend a “pawsome” dance party. ©Universal In Shrek’s Swamp, kids will get to engage in some “ogre-sized fun” because it’s been transformed for Shrek’s triplets. Here, kids can meet Shrek and Fiona, as well as take photos in the onion carriage. This land will have two interactive play areas, Shrek’s Swamp Rompin’ Stomp and Shrek’s Swamp Splash & Smash. ©Universal Puss in Boots Del Mar will give kids a chance to meet Puss in Boots, as well as Mama Luna, Perrito, and more. There will also be carnival games like Barriles de Leche and El Gato’s Meow. The land will also feature a swings ride. ©Universal In Illumination’s Minions vs. Minions: Bello Bay Club, the game is on. The Yellow Minions are trying to “rein in their Purple counterparts, leading to water-soaked fun that involves a river rapids-style ride.” Of course, families are encouraged to take part, although they can just relax and watch. There will also be a special Minions meet and greet, as well as interactive play areas with lots of surprises. ©Universal In Jurassic World Adventure Camp, kids can meet a newly hatched baby dinosaur and climb up the Lookout Towers play area. According to the concept art, it looks like there will be a family-friendly roller coaster in this land, too! ©Universal Party with the Trolls in TrollsFest “where the music will be bumping and the energy will be pumping.” Here, kiddos and their families can meet Poppy, Branch, and more. The land will also have two interactive play areas, including Poppy’s Playland and Trolls Critter Crawl. Plus, the concept art shows off a balloon kind of ride and a roller coaster. ©Universal Finally, you can visit Bikini Bottom at SpongeBob SquarePants Bikini Bottom, where you can meet SpongeBob, Patrick, and Sandy. Explore Mussel Beach and have some fun splash time in Pineapple Paradise. ©Universal Universal Kids Resort will also have multiple sensory gardens designed to give kids and their families a chance to rest. These “carefully crafted spaces invite guests to explore through touch, sound, and color in calming, nature-inspired settings — creating moments of balance within a day full of play.” As previously mentioned, the new resort also has its own hotel with 300 rooms — this hotel will also serve as the entrance to Universal Kids Resort. ©Universal We’ll be keeping an eye out for more announcements regarding Universal Kids Resort, so stay tuned to DFB for more.
