Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex is adding a live stage show featuring Jim Henson characters. “Fraggle Rock: A Space-y Adventure” is set to debut Dec. 22 at the attraction. The show with have full-body costumed “walkaround” versions of the Fraggles and puppet versions of the Doozers crafted by Jim Henson’s Creature Shop. It will be a “musical, comedic quest,” the Brevard County attraction says. The storyline will follow Gobo, Red and Uncle Travelling Matt arriving at Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex to meet a member of the Exploration Ground Systems crew. They will learn about NASA’s Artemis missions and the next visit to the Moon, and they’ll talk with a real astronaut from the International Space Station. “’Fraggle Rock’ has always embraced the idea that anything is possible when we work together and celebrate our interconnected world, and NASA is such an incredible example of that idea,” John Tartaglia, the stage show’s director, writer, and choreographer, said in a news release. Tartaglia is the Jim Henson Company’s creative supervisor for “Fraggle Rock.” The show, produced in the 300-seat Universe Theater, is included with admission to the attraction. It will be performed twice daily at 12:30 p.m. and 1:45 p.m. The building previously hosted the “All Systems Are Go” experience featuring “Peanuts” characters and continues to be the home of scheduled astronaut encounters. In addition, the visitor complex will have a character breakfast the incorporates the new show’s stars during its Holidays in Space event, which runs Dec. 21-30 with the exception of Christmas Day. Salt & Straw really is no stranger to pushing dessert boundaries, and their newest creation at Disney Springs is definitely turning heads. Salt and Straw – Tacolate Ice Cream Taco We stopped by to try the Tacolate Ice Cream Taco, a treat that sounded playful, bold, and unlike anything else you’ll find in the area. With Salt & Straw’s reputation for inventive flavors, we went in hoping for something exciting, and what we got left us with a lot to talk about. The Tacolate Ice Cream Taco is listed at $9, and right from the start, that price set the tone for our experience. Nine dollars for an ice cream taco is already pretty bold, but once we got it in hand, the size made the price feel even steeper. This thing is tiny. When we opened the box, we wondered if something was missing because it really is that small. Salt and Straw – Tacolate Ice Cream Taco Speaking of the box, the taco comes pre-packaged. We’re talking a full printed box that’s pulled straight from the freezer, and inside that box is a second sealed wrapper holding the taco itself. Salt and Straw – Tacolate Ice Cream Taco The whole experience feels more like picking up a specialty grocery store item than ordering a freshly made treat from a counter. While the packaging keeps the taco well-protected and easy to transport, it does take away that freshly-crafted Salt & Straw vibe we’ve come to expect. Taco time For those wondering what’s actually inside this thing, here’s the breakdown. The Tacolate Ice Cream Taco starts with an extra crunchy waffle taco shell. Salt and Straw – Tacolate Ice Cream Taco Inside is a block of cinnamon-ancho ice cream, completely coated in dark chocolate. The shell is also dipped in more dark chocolate and sprinkled with puffed quinoa for a little crunch. Salt and Straw – Tacolate Ice Cream Taco You also get two small sauces on the side: a raspberry drizzle and a hot honey. Salt and Straw – Tacolate Ice Cream Taco side sauces The flavor profile is definitely unique. The cinnamon-ancho ice cream is smooth and creamy, but it packs a surprising kick. The spice level isn’t overwhelming, but it’s present in every bite. At first, we weren’t sure if the heat was coming from the ice cream or from the hot honey, but once the honey was out of the equation, the spice lingered. It’s a slow, warm heat, and it sticks around. Salt and Straw – Tacolate Ice Cream Taco The dark chocolate coating works well here. It’s not too bitter and not too sweet, leaning more toward a lighter dark chocolate that balances the cinnamon and ancho. The puffed quinoa adds a nice texture without changing the flavor much — almost like replacing chopped nuts with airy little crunches. Salt and Straw – Tacolate Ice Cream Taco Now, about those sauces. The raspberry sauce is smooth, sweet, and surprisingly delicate. No seeds, no tart punch — just a mellow fruity layer that complements the ice cream well. The hot honey, though, is a whole different experience. The first taste is sweet and pleasant, but the heat hits fast. The longer it sits on your tongue, the more intense it becomes. Salt and Straw – Tacolate Ice Cream Taco side sauces We will say that pairing that kind of heat with frozen ice cream creates a strangely conflicting sensation that some people will find fun and others will find a bit confusing. Our Thoughts Salt & Straw is famous for crafting flavors that feel bold, adventurous, and sometimes downright quirky. The Tacolate Ice Cream Taco definitely fits into their brand without crossing into their more extreme territory. It’s a clever concept with a balanced spicy-sweet ice cream, crisp shell, smooth toppings, and solid craftsmanship. Salt and Straw – Tacolate Ice Cream Taco The biggest issue we have is the price. Nine dollars for something this small is tough to justify, even with the added sauces. It looks and feels like a novelty snack, not something filling or shareable, and that will make many guests hesitate. While the flavor is good and the texture is interesting, the portion feels a bit small for the cost. Salt and Straw – Tacolate Ice Cream Taco Overall, the Tacolate Ice Cream Taco is a fun one-time experience for anyone who loves spicy ice cream or Salt & Straw’s experimental side. It tastes good, it’s unique, and it photographs beautifully thanks to how frozen and sturdy it stays. But would we go back and buy it again? Probably not, because for us, the price outweighs the enjoyment. Salt and Straw – Tacolate Ice Cream Taco Looking for more recent reviews around Disney World? Check out our posts below! Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party is once again happening at Magic Kingdom! We have been there (twice this year) to see, do, eat, and drink EVERYTHING at the holiday event, because we love it that much and want to bring you the best coverage possible. Mickey and Minnie in Mickey’s Most Merriest Celebration We go to this Christmas party every year, and every year we adore it. It’s a very special experience that makes the holiday season even merrier. However, we do have to admit that this year, we noticed a slightly unfortunate side effect of going to this party, and we had to warn you! DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party happens on select nights throughout November and December. The party officially happens from 7 PM to midnight, but those with a party ticket can get into Magic Kingdom at 4 PM on the date of their party. Christmas is HERE! Since this event happens in the winter at night, you might think that the weather will be great, with cooler temps, even in Florida. However, that’s not necessarily the case for the entire time, and we need to let you know that, in fact, the opposite can be true with potentially severe consequences. When we were headed to the party, we got to the gate a bit before 4 PM, and that’s when we realized that heat exhaustion could be a very real thing at Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party! The crowds waiting to get in! When you get to the park and you’re waiting outside the gate, there is no shade, no water, and LOTS of crowds. On top of that, it’s likely that you, along with many others, are wearing Christmas outfits, which usually tend to be on the warmer side, like sweaters and Santa hats. We were cooking, waiting in line to get into the park in the glaring hot sun around 4 PM! Crowds to get inside the party! If you’re planning to get to the park early and know you’ll end up waiting in line to get in, we definitely recommend bringing a filled water bottle. One like this Owala water bottle would be essential to have every day in the parks, but especially while in line for the party. The Rapunzel Owala View on Amazon We also suggest packing one of these mini fans in your park bag. They can help keep you feeling cooler and refreshed if you’re growing flushed. JISULIFE Handheld Mini Fan View on Amazon We truly love going to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. If there’s one thing that keeps us coming back to Disney World again and again (aside from the rides, the nostalgia, and the magic), it’s the SNACKS. Mickey Pretzel Disney World loves to put out new snacks, and we love to do the hard work of taste-testing them for you (you’re welcome). We give you our honest opinions and who we think would love the item or who could skip it, so that you are spending your money in the right way! From sweet to savory, these are the top 10 snacks you absolutely have to try in 2026. 1. The Chicken Tender Tour In October, Disney released THIRTEEN new chicken strips! We love that you can try them all like a scavenger hunt or find ones with the flavor profile you love. Here is the full list: Honey Buffalo Chicken Strips with Ranch (Backlot Express) Sweet Chili Aïoli Chicken Strips (World Premiere Food Court, Landscape of Flavors, Centertown Market, Spyglass Grill, The Artist’s Palette, Roaring Fork, Typhoon Tilly’s, and Wind & Waves Market) Waffle Cone Chicken Strips (Beaches Pool Bar and Restaurantosaurus) Buffalo Chicken Strips (Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Café) Lemon Pepper-Parmesan Chicken Strips (Pinocchio Village Haus) Gochujang-glazed Chicken Strips (Capt. Cook’s and Everything POP Shopping & Dining) Jerk BBQ Chicken Strips with Pineapple Salsa (End Zone Food Court, Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory, Riverside Mill Food Court, Gasparilla Island Grill, and The Mara) Roasted Jalapeño-Cheddar Chicken Strips (Good’s Food to Go and Trail’s End Restaurant) Spicy Ranch Chicken Strips (Contempo Café) Citrus-glazed Chicken Strips (Primo Piatto) Buffalo Ranch Chicken Strips (Lottawatta Lodge in 2026, Hurricane Hanna’s Waterside Bar and Grill, and Intermission Food Court) Seaside Chicken Strips (Columbia Harbour House) Waffle Cone Chicken Strips We really loved the Seaside Chicken Strips at Columbia Harbour House for $12.99. These are topped with a seasoned aioli, crushed pretzels, and crispy garlic, and y’all, don’t knock pretzels and chicken tenders together. You can taste all of the spices in the aioli without it being spicy, and the crispy pretzels add a beautiful crunch and a punch of salt. We loved the salt and how the crispy garlic added a deeper depth of flavor without making each bite overwhelmingly garlicy. Seaside Chicken Strips We also had the Buffalo Chicken Strips at Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe for $12.99. These are coated in buffalo sauce and topped with ranch seasoning. The sauce wasn’t too spicy; instead, it came at the end of each bite as a kick, allowing you to taste the sauce without your tongue burning off. There wasn’t a ton of ranch seasoning on top to cool it down, so we could have used more or had a side of ranch, but these had great classic flavor, and you’ll have those traditional orange fingers at the end. REVIEW: Disney Just Proved That Chicken Strips Are Far From Boring Buffalo Chicken Strips 2. Unique Premium Mickey Bars Disney has also released unique Mickey ice cream bars throughout the Disney parks and resorts. Check out the full list: Hand-dipped Mickey’s Premium Ice Cream Bar with Sprinkles at Auntie Gravity’s Galactic Goodies, Ice Cold Hydraulics, and Dinosaur Gertie’s Ice Cream Hand-dipped Mickey’s Premium Ice Cream Bar with Mickey-shaped Sprinkles at Centertown Market Hand-dipped Mickey’s Premium Ice Cream Bar with M&M’S® Milk Chocolate Minis at End Zone Food Court Hand-dipped Mickey’s Premium Ice Cream Bar with Salted Caramel Pearls at Everything POP Shopping & Dining and Riverside Mill Food Court Hand-dipped Mickey’s Premium Ice Cream Bar with SKITTLES® POP’d Original Freeze Dried Candy at Gasparilla Island Grill, Landscape of Flavors, Happy Landings Ice Cream, and Anandapur Ice Cream Truck Hand-dipped Mickey’s Premium Ice Cream Bar with Crunchy Peanut Butter-Chocolate Bar Pieces at Intermission Food Court Hand-dipped Mickey’s Premium Ice Cream Bar with Chopped Peanut Butter Cups at Trail’s End Restaurant Mickey Premium Bar with Sprinkles We went over to Disney’s Pop Century Resort to find the Hand-dipped Mickey’s Premium Ice Cream Bar with Salted Caramel Pearls at Everything POP Shopping and Dining for $7.79. This one totally blew us away! The crispy popping pearls gave it even more of a crunch, and that salted caramel flavor was divine. It was dipped in a birthday cake-flavored icing, which paired wonderfully with the vanilla ice cream. Our only complaint was that it was just a little hard to bite through, but we’d still say it’s our second favorite of the new ice creams released. Hand-dipped Mickey’s Premium Ice Cream Bar with Salted Caramel Pearls We also headed over to Fort Wilderness Resort to check out the Hand-dipped Mickey’s Premium Ice Cream Bar with Chopped Peanut Butter Cups for $7.99 at Trail’s End. This one is easily our favorite new addition to the Mickey Ice Cream bar family! While it did melt fast (so grab those napkins), the birthday cake icing paired incredibly well with the Reece’s peanut butter cup pieces. The peanut butter also added another layer of creaminess to this treat, enhancing it even more than we ever thought possible. If you’re a fan of peanut butter and chocolate, this is 100% a must-grab! REVIEW: These New Disney World Snacks Are Gonna Be POPULAR Hand-dipped Mickey’s Premium Ice Cream Bar 88 with Chopped Peanut Butter Cups 3. Peanut Butter Pie You know how much we love a Disney cupcake, but this dessert has stolen our hearts. The Chocolate Peanut Butter Mousse Pie Cup at The Cake Bake Shop at the BoardWalk is stealing the show at $15. This slice of heaven features a creamy peanut butter mousse layered on a chocolate cookie crust, topped with rich ganache and a sprinkle of sea salt. It’s indulgent, elegant, and exactly what peanut butter lovers want in a sweet treat. Look at that sparkle! It’s sweet but balanced, with a restaurant-level presentation that makes it feel extra special. Pair it with one of Cake Bake’s seasonal drinks or afternoon teas for a perfect mid-day treat. This pie was made with a Callebaut Belgian chocolate cookie crust filled with a creamy peanut butter mousse. It’s topped with a chocolate ganache and freshly roasted chopped peanuts. It reminded us of a big version of a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup but with way more filling, and we’re obsessed! Our Chocolate Peanut Butter Mousse Pie Review Here Yum! 4. Buffalo Chicken Chips Buffalo chicken lovers, this one’s for you. The Buffalo Chicken Chips for $10.49, which will be found at Eight Spoon Café in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, are a crave-worthy twist on nachos. They feature house-made chips loaded with pulled buffalo chicken, arugula, celery, diced tomatoes, and a generous drizzle of bleu cheese dressing. What makes these so good is the flavor balance. They are “Disney” spicy, creamy, crunchy, and fresh. It’s the kind of snack that can double as a meal, and it’s great for sharing (though you may not want to). Buffalo Chicken Chips It’s worth noting these changed a bit when they moved from DinoLand to Eight Spoon, but we still think they are worth grabbing! 5. The BEST Churros These are not the same churros you can find at the snack carts, which we honestly aren’t fans of. The churros for $10 at Nomad Lounge in Animal Kingdom are soft, buttery, and perfectly spiced, with a light, crisp exterior and fluffy inside. But the real showstopper? The two dipping sauces that come with them: one vanilla crema and one seasonal mystery flavor that changes throughout the year. Look at these Churros! We’ve seen everything from strawberry to caramel-coffee sauces, and each one feels like a little surprise. Pair these churros with a cocktail from Nomad’s adventurous drink menu, and you’ve got yourself a relaxing afternoon treat that feels elevated and indulgent. Nomad Lounge Churros and Dipping Sauces 6. Carrot Cake Cookie The Carrot Cake Cookie for $5.70 from Trolley Car Café at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is a Disney Food Blog legend and for good reason. This snack is two thick, spiced carrot cake cookies sandwiching a rich cream cheese frosting that’s not overly sweet but perfectly tangy. It’s the ideal blend of soft, chewy, and creamy textures. It’s filling enough to split, but light enough that you won’t feel weighed down. Grab one in the morning with a cold brew from Starbucks, and you’ve got the perfect start to your day at Hollywood Studios. Carrot Cake Cookie 7. Sleepy Hollow Waffles Over in Liberty Square, Sleepy Hollow Refreshments is still serving up some of the most iconic snacks in Disney World: the Loaded Waffles. These golden, crispy-on-the-outside, fluffy-on-the-inside waffles come topped with everything from Nutella and fruit to sweet and spicy chicken. The fruit-and-hazelnut version is perfect for breakfast lovers, while the chicken waffle is a must for those who prefer savory with a kick. These are classic Disney eats: fun, filling, and photo-ready, all in one bite. Waffle with Chocolate-Hazelnut Spread, Bananas, Berries, and Whipped Cream 8. Bacon. Pecan. Caramel. The Mickey Cinnamon Roll from Westward Ho 9. These buttery nuggets are tossed in garlic butter and barbecue rub, then served with a creamy, rich beer cheese sauce. They’re soft, chewy, and packed with flavor. Think of it kind of like a fancy Auntie Anne’s pretzel with a smoky twist. For $8.79, they’re one of the best-value savory snacks in EPCOT and pair perfectly with a cold craft beer from the same stand. REVIEW: Put DOWN the Mickey Pretzel! With all the new holiday flair in the building, cast members made sure to create a welcoming space for the guest of honor. Matthew, Show Director with Disney Live Entertainment, and his team drew inspiration from some of Walt Disney’s love of the season when setting up for Santa’s arrival. “The new location at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is inspired by one of Walt’s early works, the 1932 Silly Symphony short, Santa’s Workshop,” Matthew said. “We hope guests get caught up in the joy, imagination, and whimsy of the holidays.” Amie, Disney Live Entertainment Producer, added, “I think guests will love the feeling of stepping right into Santa’s cozy toy shop when they come meet him at Disney’s Hollywood Studios this year. One of my favorite parts of the room is actually as you first walk in! Be sure to look around you to spot beautiful Disney artwork from holidays past!” Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park Disney’s Animal Kingdom celebrates the holidays with unique, globally inspired decor, including the charming Merry Menagerie of life-sized animal puppets on Discovery Island and the dazzling holiday Tree of Life Awakenings projection show. EPCOT EPCOT is getting ready to put the festive in festival when EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays presented by AdventHealth begins November 28. Santa will also have his own dedicated spot to meet families hoping to cross things off their wish lists! For even more holiday fun, head into Adventureland, where a certain classic pun-filled ride has been transformed into the Jingle Cruise, complete with skippers cracking festive holiday jokes and tacky-but-charming Christmas decorations adorning the boathouse and jungle scenes. Disney Springs At Disney Springs, guests may find Santa in his workshop near Disney’s Pin Traders — and yes, it’s one of the most popular photo ops of the season! Where to See Santa at Disney Springs Near Disney’s Pin Traders, until December 24 To make things merry and efficient, guests can join a virtual queue through the My Disney Experience app for this experience. A standby queue will not be available, so be sure to check the app for multiple entry opportunities throughout the day. Behind the Magic: The Cast Making Santa Feel Right at Home From lighting every twinkling garland to ensuring Santa’s chair is perfectly placed, it takes a village of cast members and Imagineers to check the list and make these moments really shine. Disney Live Entertainment cast member Steve, Senior Art Director, shared some of their favorite details he hope guests will enjoy. “My favorite part of meeting Santa is the way the space sets up a nostalgic feeling and anticipation before meeting Santa Claus himself,” Steve said. “The hallways are filled with vintage holiday greeting cards that have been created through multiple decades of joy and holiday harmony. You’ll see letters from all around the world addressed to Santa!” No matter where you go, from the theme parks to Disney Springs, holiday cheer is waiting to light up your holiday. Families can capture every magical moment with Disney PhotoPass photographers, stationed throughout all four parks and Disney Springs. It’s hard to believe how knee deep we are into the holiday season in Disney World, with all the decorations, Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, and Jollywood Nights, but before you know it, we’ll be ringing in a new year, and the holiday season will be over as we head into 2026. Jungle Cruise That means that everything associated with the holiday season will be ending, too, including the popular ride overlay Jingle Cruise. Well, we now know when Jingle Cruise will officially go away and when the regular Jungle Cruise will return. The last day you’ll have a chance to ride Jingle Cruise will be on January 1st, at least according to the Disney World website calendar. The last day with hours for the ride is on January 1st from 9 AM to 10 PM. ©Disney However, the regular Jungle Cruise is showing hours as of January 2nd, meaning the ride change will happen overnight. So if you’re visiting Disney World during that first week in January, you could have a chance to get two different ride experiences on the same ride. ©Disney Jingle Cruise is a special holiday version of the ride, complete with a fun queue, festive decor, and holiday puns. It’s just as much fun to ride as the regular Jungle Cruise, plus it helps you get into the holiday spirit quickly. If you’re visiting while Jingle Cruise is available, we highly recommend it. Jingle Cruise Note that Jingle Cruise tends to have longer wait times because it is so popular. Your best bet is to wait and ride it during Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party or use Lightning Lane Multi Pass to grab a Lightning Lane for the ride. Jingle Cruise We’ll keep an eye out for more ride changes in Disney World, so stay tuned to DFB for more. The Disney Destiny, Disney Cruise Line’s newest and most innovative ship, embarked on its maiden voyage Thursday from Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. This marks another major milestone in The Walt Disney Company’s ambitious global expansion of its cruise business. Building on the successful launches of the Disney Wish in 2022 and Disney Treasure in 2024, the Disney Destiny reinforces Disney Cruise Line’s role as a key growth driver for the company. With plans to double its fleet by 2031 — including its first sailings from Asia next year with the Disney Adventure — Disney Cruise Line is positioned to capture new markets and deepen engagement with Disney fans worldwide. The debut of the Disney Destiny also reflects the unprecedented scale of investment across Disney Experiences, which currently has more projects underway than at any other time in company history. Featuring an all-new theme inspired by legendary heroes and villains, the Disney Destiny exemplifies Disney’s ability to extend its storytelling beyond the screen and deliver immersive experiences that resonate with guests of all ages. To learn more about the launch and what’s next for Disney Cruise Line, we spoke with Joe Schott, president of Disney Signature Experiences. What new experiences and innovations can guests anticipate on the Disney Destiny that both align it with the Disney Cruise Line fleet and set it apart as unique? The Disney Destiny is truly something special. As the seventh ship in our fleet, it builds upon the many experiences that Disney Cruise Line has brought to life over the years to immerse guests in the magic of Disney storytelling in innovative new ways at sea. Each ship in our fleet has a unique identity. The Destiny stands out with an all-new heroes and villains’ theme — a first for Disney Cruise Line — which allowed us to bring plenty of stories and characters from the Disney library to life. From the moment you step into the Grand Hall, you’re a greeted by a Wakanda-inspired design and the Black Panther, setting the tone for a ship that’s all about immersive storytelling. We’ve introduced the Lion King as a full dining experience for the first time and anchored the entertainment with a brand-new Broadway-style Hercules show. Throughout the ship, you’ll find hidden details, unique art pieces (my personal favorite is the Black Panther artwork on deck three), and exclusive experiences like Dr. Facilier’s parlor and a Cruella de Vil themed lounge. These touches create a sense of magic and connection you won’t find anywhere else, while still delivering the high-quality service from our incredible crew. The Destiny is focused on heroes and villains. How does the ship help integrate the villains’ brand with other company segments, such as the upcoming Disney Villains-themed land at Walt Disney World Resort? The heroes and villains’ theme on the Destiny gives us a unique framework to tell stories in new ways. By featuring characters and experiences centered around both heroes and villains, we’re able to create immersive environments that resonate with fans. This approach not only enhances the cruise experience but also builds on other ways we are leveraging some of these iconic characters for our experiences, like the upcoming Disney Villains land at Walt Disney World. It’s all about leveraging our rich storytelling to create incredible experiences that also deepen guests’ connection with the brand. The Grand Hall of the Disney Destiny Disney Cruise Line is rapidly expanding — approaching a total fleet comprising 13 ships by 2031. Why is this a perfect industry for Disney to continue investing in? We’re seeing incredible demand for Disney Cruise Line, and we’re meeting that demand during this period of rapid growth and expansion. The cruise industry allows us to welcome guests who already know and love Disney from our parks, in addition to new and first-time guests. In that way, our ships are incredible ambassadors for the Disney brand throughout the world. Disney Cruise Line is among the highest rated experiences we offer in the Disney Experiences portfolio, which shows how much guests love what we’re doing here. There’s also tremendous opportunity for growth, given our current fleet is still relatively small compared to the rest of the industry. With the addition of our recent ships, we’ve doubled the number of available passenger days – allowing us to welcome even more guests to experience the magic of Disney at sea. Our expansion gives us the opportunity to reach new audiences and create more magical moments and emotional connections with guests, which is great for both our company and the industry as a whole. What are you learning and developing for Disney Cruise Line that can then be used at other Disney experiences around the world? Storytelling is at the core of everything we do at Disney, and you can see how our cruise ships and theme parks inspire each other. On the Disney Destiny, spaces like the Haunted Mansion Parlor and Cask & Cannon are directly inspired by stories and experiences from our parks. This connection can be seen in our guests too — many who visit our parks also choose to sail with us, and vice versa. We’re always learning and sharing across our teams, whether it’s about using technology to enhance the guest experience, advancing sustainability, or innovating in food and beverage. Every new ship, attraction, or dining concept is a chance to build on what we’ve learned and deliver that special Disney feeling — no matter where our guests encounter us. Joe Schott, president of Disney Signature Experiences How does the Disney Cruise Line uniquely grow the Disney brand in new locations around the world? What’s really special about Disney Cruise Line is how it extends everything Disney is known for to new regions around the world — from our legendary guest service, storytelling, and attention to detail. Whether you’re at one of our theme parks or sailing on the Destiny, every moment is thoughtfully crafted in a way only Disney can do. As our ships travel to new destinations around the world, they bring that Disney magic with them, introducing new guests to our brand and deepening the bond for longtime fans. Every time a guest enjoys our service, our stories, and our experiences — whether on land or at sea — it strengthens their relationship with Disney and inspires them to keep exploring everything we have to offer. What makes Disney Cruise Line a preferred vacation choice for a diverse range of consumers? From the very beginning, Disney Cruise Line has focused on delivering a family-friendly experience that appeals to guests of all ages. The comfort of cruising, the magic of Disney, and spectacular destinations combine to set us apart. Whether you’re traveling with family or friends, there’s really something for everyone. That trust and emotional connection are a big part of why guests love sailing with us — and why many choose to come back again and again. You’ve worked at Disney locations around the world. What insights did you bring from your experiences in places like Shanghai, Tokyo, and Paris to your leadership of Disney Signature Experiences? Having spent much of my career in international Disney parks, I’ve learned that while the core essence of the Disney experience is universal, adapting to local markets is essential. Whether it’s language, food, or entertainment, we tailor our offerings to meet the needs of each audience. We always need to be authentically Disney and distinctly local based on where in the world we are meeting our guests. Leading Disney Signature Experiences, my goal is to empower my team to deliver exceptional experiences around the world by always listening to our guests and continuing to innovate. Having a global perspective helps us deliver world-class service and create magical moments for guests everywhere, no matter what experience they are choosing. An aerial view of the Disney Destiny How is Disney Cruise Line giving back to the community as part of the launch of Disney Destiny? “Discover Your Destiny” is a community outreach program we just launched alongside the Disney Destiny, designed to inspire and empower young people in the ports and regions we visit. Through this initiative, we partner with local organizations and schools both in our Florida homeport communities and the Bahamas to provide educational experiences and hands-on learning in areas like the arts, sciences, and hospitality. Could you provide a preview of the Disney Adventure, the newest addition to the Disney Cruise Line fleet? What sets it apart and what does it bring to the overall fleet? The Disney Adventure is a big milestone for our fleet. This ship launches out of Singapore in March and represents a major step forward in our commitment to reaching guests in new regions of the world. By homeporting in Southeast Asia for the first time, we’re able to introduce the Disney Cruise Line experience to families and fans who may never have had the opportunity to sail with us before. The Adventure is designed to reflect the vibrant diversity of Southeast Asia, with unique food, entertainment, and experiences tailored to local cultures and preferences — all while maintaining the core Disney magic that guests expect. This expansion allows us to welcome new guests and share our storytelling and service with an entirely new audience. It’s a testament to our focus on growth, innovation, and creating magical moments for guests wherever they are in the world. We’re just a few months away from the launch, and I can’t wait to introduce this latest addition to our fleet to our guests and crew. There is more growth happening across Disney Experiences worldwide than ever before. What other projects are you excited about beyond Disney Cruise Line? In addition to Disney Cruise Line, our portfolio within Disney Signature Experiences includes several businesses that extend the reach of our brand beyond the theme parks — many of which are in high growth mode. There’s a lot to be excited about including new itineraries for Adventures by Disney and National Geographic Expeditions; two Storyliving by Disney communities in development, Cotino and Asteria; and a new Disney Vacation Club resort, Disney Lakeshore Lodge, coming to Walt Disney World in 2027. I’m also looking forward to seeing some of the projects from other destinations within our segment. There are so many stories we are bringing to life around the world, on land and sea, and I can’t wait for our guests to experience it all. If you’re planning a trip to Disney World, there’s a lot to think about. You’ll need to figure out how long you’re staying, as well as where you’re staying. You’ll need to know which tickets you need, as well as a general idea of where you want to eat (okay, that last part is the MOST important part, in our opinion). Main Street Station in Magic Kingdom However, you’ll also need to make sure you keep an eye on park hours because sometimes parks might have hours that would interfere with your day. Well, we’ve got one such date to tell you about, and it might be a good day to skip visiting Magic Kingdom. Don’t plan that Disney World vacation alone! Let our friends at Small World Vacations help! They’ll score you the best deals and walk you through everything. Even better? Their services are 100% free. If you have plans to visit Magic Kingdom on January 27th, you may want to change those plans because the park will be closing early, at 4:30 PM. That means you’ll have less time in that park on that day, and unless you have a park hopper option added to your ticket, your park day will end earlier than you may want it to. Main Street, U.S.A. in Disney World Disney has not yet confirmed why the park is closing early, but this is about the time of the year when Disney hosts an annual event for Cast Members, so that’s our best guess. However, it’s just important to know that Magic Kingdom will close the park to regular guests early that day. This also means you’ll miss out on the Magic Kingdom fireworks, so if those are a priority, be sure to plan your Magic Kingdom visit on a different day. Happily Ever After Disney World’s other theme parks are showing their regular hours for that day, so you should be able to visit those without a problem. We’ll keep an eye out for more changes on the Disney World schedule, so stay tuned to DFB for more. Disney California Adventure’s Festival of Holidays is HERE, and we’re checking out everything it has to offer! Disney California Adventure Festival of Holidays This annual event, which will be ongoing through January 7th, 2026, features festive decorations, lively entertainment, limited-edition merch, and plenty of Festive Foods Marketplaces (Food Booths). It is drawing in Disney fans from far and wide — including us! We’re checking out everything the Festival of Holidays has to offer…including some festival food offerings at the park’s restaurants! We tried SO MANY holiday treats, meals, and drinks, and we have plenty of thoughts. Without further ado, let’s jump right in! Paradise Garden Grill Paradise Garden Grill First up, we headed over to Paradise Garden Grill and tried the NEW Tacos Dorados de Camarón for $14.49. This dish is made with two shrimp tacos fried to a golden brown, topped with zesty slaw, salsa roja, salsa macha, and crema, served with Spanish rice and refried beans. Tacos Dorados de Camarón The shrimp here was pretty tasty! Both of the salsas provided some nice spice, but most of the heat came from the salsa mocha. If you don’t have a good spice tolerance, this may not be for you. Still, you’ll get plenty of fresh flavors from this, especially with the slaw. The heat was the star here, but you still get nice and subtle natural flavors from the shrimp, rice, and beans. Overall, we liked this quite a bit! Tacos Dorados de Camarón We also tried the NEW Al Pastor Torta for $15.49. This dish is made with pineapple achiote-marinated pork with chorizo beans, avocado spread, tomatillo salsa, cilantro, and onions, served with tortilla chips. Al Pastor Torta This thing was huge! We definitely feel it’s a shareable meal, and one lots of folks will like. We loved the flavor of the grilled pineapples, al pastor, and chorizo, along with the salsa, which added a spice throughout. The avocado also added a cool, creamy flavor and texture, but it wasn’t prevalent throughout. The chips were just okay — nothing really to write home about. Some were crunchy and salty, while others seemed kind of stale. The torta, though, was certainly a star, and we quite liked it! Al Pastor Torta We also tried the Achiote Half Chicken for $19.49. This dish is made with roasted achiote-marinated chicken served with Spanish rice, refried beans, and nopal salad. It’s new for the festival but has been served in the park in the past. Achiote Half Chicken Our favorite of the three, this dish offered incredibly juicy and tender chicken that came right off the bone! The skin had a peppery flavor from the achiote, but nothing too spicy. The Mexican rice was, unfortunately, a bit bland with a dry texture, but the beans had a nice creamy texture and a savory meat flavor. The salad was basic, yet tasty. Overall, each of these items was quite delicious and well worth the price, thanks to their serving sizes! Outdoor Vending At select outdoor vending carts at the park, you can pick up the NEW Mint Chocolate Chip Cotton Candy for $6.50! Mint Chocolate Chip Cotton Candy The first thing you taste is cotton candy with a slightly minty aftertaste. However, we didn’t taste much chocolate, and the mint wasn’t overpowering either. With both flavors being quite light, this is still probably a safe bet for regular cotton candy enjoyers. Smokejumpers Grill Smokejumpers Grill Over at Smokejumers Grill, we tried the NEW Spicy Cajun Loaded Fries for $8.99 (Sip & Savor Pass-eligible)! These Cajun fries are topped with hot links, cheddar cheese, corn, and bell peppers. Spicy Cajun Loaded Fries WE LOVED THIS SNACK! First off, it’s a spicy one, so be ready for that. These fries are loaded with hot links, sautéed bell peppers, shredded cheese, corn cob tips, and drizzled with hot sauce (think hot wing sauce). The fries have Cajun seasoning, so prepare for tons of flavor! If you get everything all in one bite, it’s heaven. Spicy Cajun Loaded Fries We do wish it were served hotter so the cheese could melt better, and we thought the corn was too burnt. However, we definitely recommend trying this snack, as we were mostly impressed! Rita’s Turbine Blenders Rita’s Turbine Blenders Our last stop was at Rita’s Turbine Blenders to try the NEW Hot Blueberry Cider for $7.79 (Sip & Savor-eligible)! Hot Blueberry Cider This non-alcoholic apple cider literally tasted like blueberry syrup in hot cider. It was super sweet and very blueberry-forward, so you definitely have to like blueberry flavoring to enjoy this drink. It will be too sweet for some and perfect for others, so give it a try and tell us which side you end up on! Of note, there is also a Bourbon Berry Elixir with similar ingredients, only with bourbon added in. 2025 menu And there you have it! Madame Tussauds Orlando is adding a wax figure of actor Jeff Goldblum, who soon will be starring as the wizard again in “Wicked: For Good.” Goldblum came his face to his face with the figure in New York before it was shipped to Central Florida. It is clad in a black leather jacket, the actor’s trademark eyeglasses and a duplicate of his Cartier tank watch. “It’s spectacular,” Goldblum said in a video of his encounter provided by Tussauds. “I’m humbled and honored, of course.” He compliments the amount of stubble on the figure and its well-flossed teeth. He breaks into song: “Me and My Shadow.” Actor Jeff Goldblum inspects a wax figure of himself that will be placed in the Madame Tussauds Orlando attraction on International Drive. (Kenneth Hines Jr./Madame Tussauds) Goldblum put the possibility of having a wax twin into the universe during a late-night talk show appearance in August 2024. “I was guest-hosting for Jimmy Kimmel and I said ‘Hey, how come I don’t have a wax figure?’ — something like that — and I think the lovely people at the great Madame Tussauds, they reached out and they said ‘If you’re serious about that, you know, how about posing?'” Goldblum said. Goldblum worked with Madame Tussauds artists to select his outfit, pose and establish an interactive experience to capture his personality. (Tussauds hints it will be a “green room”-inspired experience.) “This figure lets guests get up close and personal with an icon, offering a one-of-a-kind moment that’s as fun and unforgettable as Jeff himself,” Paul Gould, general manager of Madame Tussauds Orlando, said in a news release. Creation of the figure was a yearlong task involving more than 20 Tussauds experts. He will be installed in Madame Tussauds Orlando, located on International Drive’s Icon Park, in December. “It’s surreal and wondrous and wonderful,” Goldblum said. dbevil@orlandosentinel.com View the full article

It seems like everywhere you turn, there’s some kind of construction going on in Disney World. Three out of the four theme parks are getting new lands and expansions, while Disney Springs is getting a new store and a new social interactive experience. Magnolia Bend Mansions at Riverside Disney World hotels are also making big changes, too, which means LOTS of construction. Well, one Disney World hotel, Disney’s Port Orleans Resort — Riverside, just extended its construction, and the date for its completion has been pushed back by a year. Disney has been refurbishing the rooms in the Magnolia Bend part of the resort since May 2025. That construction was initially scheduled to be completed by January 2026, but has recently been pushed back until February 2026. Now, though, Disney’s plans for Port Orleans — Riverside seem to have expanded, and the construction completion date has now been pushed back until August 2027. Construction at Magnolia Bend Previously, the Disney World website stated that guest rooms in Magnolia Bend at the hotel would be undergoing refurbishment. However, the website now states the following: “From early May 2025 through August 2027, Guest rooms at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside will undergo refurbishment throughout different parts of the Resort hotel. During this time, Guests may see or hear construction work in the area.” Magnolia Bend at Disney’s Port Orleans – Riverside So it seems like more guest rooms at the resort beyond Magnolia Bend will be getting a refurbishment. So if you’re planning a stay in Disney World and don’t want to be around construction, you may want to skip staying at this hotel through 2027. Disney has not been clear on what’s happening with the rooms and what they will look like once the refurbishment is complete, but we’ll keep an eye out for any details, so stay tuned to DFB for more. 6 Unfortunate Things That Happen Every Time We Stay at Disney’s Port Orleans Hotel Join the DFB Newsletter to get all the breaking news right in your inbox! Oh, Hollywood Studios, why don’t you have more food options? We love Hollywood Studios, but sometimes we find ourselves trying to figure out where to eat. There aren’t a crazy number of restaurants, but we found one that might be your go-to. Let’s eat at Backlot Express! We headed to Backlot Express in Echo Lake to see if you should head here for your next meal in Hollywood Studios. Atmosphere You’ll find Backlot Express to the left of Echo Lake, close to the old Muppets Courtyard that is currently being turned into Monstropolis. Come on in! They have a large indoor and outdoor seating area and are close to Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular, so you might hear the show going off when you’re there! It’s themed like a Hollywood film set, with props hanging around and signs that the cast and crew were working on new projects. Along with seating, there is a large selection of condiments you can grab at the restaurant, which is a huge perk in our books. Seating Menu On the menu, you’ll find family-friendly favorites! This is a quick-service restaurant, so you can order at the counter or on your app with Mobile Ordering. The menu They have items like chicken strips, burgers, salads, and sandwiches, and is one of the few traditional-style quick-service spots in Hollywood Studios. They also sometimes offer special snacks for different holidays and celebrations, along with Coca-Cola products and Joffrey’s Cold Brews. They have a kids’ menu as well with chicken strips and macaroni and cheese. Drink offerings Eats First up, we had the Teriyaki Chicken Bowl for $13.29. This bowl is made with seasoned jasmine rice, teriyaki chicken, yuzu-pickled edamame, carrots, cucumber, and onions drizzled with house-made lemon-tahili-chipotle vinaigrette, and sesame seeds. Teriyaki Chicken Bowl We’ve heard good things about this bowl, and it came through! The chicken was cut into chunks and was super juicy with a teriyaki glaze. You’re not going to find much of a sauce on the chicken, but we thought it was the right amount. The green onions added some freshness, and the seasoned rice stuck together really well, even if there were a few bits we thought were undercooked. Something we loved was the almost equal ratio of chicken, toppings, and rice, and it was a great bang for your buck. The dressing on top was mostly lemon, and we didn’t taste any of the chipotle, but the whole bowl had beautiful textures and was filling. Great ratio! Then we had the Cuban Sandwich for $12.99. This sandwich features classically pressed roasted pulled pork, sliced ham, Swiss cheese, pickles, and mustard, with plantain chips. Cuban Sandwich We were so surprised by how delicious this Cuban Sandwich was! It had a toasted outside and was nice and flat, exactly how it should be. The pork was a little dry, but the ham was juicy and thinly sliced. There was a decent amount of meat inside, along with melted Swiss cheese. You’re not going to quite get that glorious cheese pull, but that comes with the Swiss cheese territory! The pickles were very thin and had a nice crunch, but we didn’t like how easily they pulled out when we tried to bite into them. It did bring in an acidic, tangy flavor which matched the tangy mustards, the salty and savory meat, and the smooth cheese. This is a great, solid option! Inside We also tried the 1/3 lb Anugs Bacon Cheeseburger for $13.99. This is a 1/3 lb angus bacon cheeseburger on a brioche bun served with french fries or carrot sticks. We went for the fries. Angus Bacon Cheeseburger This wasn’t our favorite dish we tried all day, but we think it would be great for those looking for a comforting, simple meal. The bun was fluffy but also dry, and fell apart very easily when we were eating it. Overall, we thought it needed more salt and was on the bland side, but when you’re trying to feed the whole family at one restaurant, this might be perfect for the picky eaters of the group. The bacon was our favorite part: it wasn’t too crispy, had a bit of chew, and brought in the saltiness. We recommend grabbing a $1 Cheese Sauce, too, for some additional flavor. Inside Ending with dessert, we had the famous Wookie Cookie for $7.49. These are two oatmeal cookies with vanilla cream filling, garnished with a milk chocolate sash on top. Wookie Cookie This is probably one of Hollywood Studios’ most iconic treats, and we think you should at least try it once, especially if you love oatmeal cream pies. We love to share this cookie, and it has a strong oatmeal flavor and texture with an extra sugary vanilla cream in the middle. It’s a pretty sweet dessert and a perfect finish to our super savory meal. You can also take pretty cute pictures with it! Tons of icing! Nosh or Not You should head to Backlot Express if… You want an easy, quick service meal with familiar dishes You like indoor seating and want somewhere to relax in the shade during your meal You are looking for filling options to keep you fueled throughout the day You might want to skip if… You’re looking for more unique dining options You prefer a sit-down style restaurant with guaranteed seating You are in other areas of the park where other quick-service options might be more convenient for you Our meal Overall Backlot Express might be an underdog of Hollywood Studios! They had a few solid options that were filling and had great value, along with comforting dishes everyone knows and loves. We love that they have access to lots of amenities, indoor and outdoor seating, and offer Mobile Ordering. While we wouldn’t necessarily make a trip just to go here, if you’re close by and are looking for a quick bite, this can be a great option. In the meantime, keep following Disney Food Blog for more food reviews so you know where to eat on your next Disney World trip.
