If you’ve wandered through Disney’s Animal Kingdom lately, you’ve probably noticed that the snack game has been quietly leveling up (and yes, we’re always ready to investigate). Zuri’s Sweets Shop Mickey Strawberry Cereal Treat Over in Harambe, Zuri’s Sweets Shop continues to churn out new goodies and classic favorites, and this time we set our sights on something that immediately caught our attention: the Mickey Strawberry Cereal Treat. We love a good cereal-based dessert, but we also know how quickly these can veer into dry, bland, or aggressively sweet territory. So, we grabbed one to see if this treat actually lives up to its picture-perfect vibe. Mickey Strawberry Cereal Treat The Mickey Strawberry Cereal Treat is priced at $7.99 before discounts, and yes, that price tag made us pause. But don’t worry, if you’ve got an Annual Pass, your discount brings it down to about $6.81, which feels a little more reasonable for a specialty cereal treat in Disney World. Zuri’s Sweets Shop Mickey Strawberry Cereal Treat So let’s talk about what this thing actually tastes like. Imagine a strawberry milk-flavored crispy rice treat meets a strawberries-and-cream dessert bar, and you’re pretty much on the right track. It’s incredibly soft for a cereal treat, with just enough crispy bite to remind you that yes, this is still a classic rice crispy base. Nothing tough or dry about it. In fact, the texture is one of the first things that won us over. Zuri’s Sweets Shop Mickey Strawberry Cereal Treat Now, here’s where things get a little messy (in a good way). The entire outside is coated in shortbread-style crumbles that add a subtly gritty texture and extra sweetness. They give you that bakery-style crumble layer that feels elevated, but they do have a mind of their own. A lot of them fell off while we were cutting into the treat, so be prepared for some crumbs. Also… let’s just say ours was sitting a little precariously on its stick, so take care when you’re posing it for snack-cam. Zuri’s Sweets Shop Mickey Strawberry Cereal Treat But once you get past the little avalanche of crumbs, the flavor really lands. It’s creamy, soft, and very strawberry-forward without veering into artificial territory. The vanilla notes round everything out so it feels like a full strawberries-and-cream moment rather than just “pink crispy treat.” If you enjoy any of the strawberry cereal-milk style desserts Disney has done in the past, you’ll probably love this one. Zuri’s Sweets Shop Mickey Strawberry Cereal Treat Is it worth $8? That depends. If you’re a die-hard strawberries-and-cream fan or love trying specialty treats shaped like Mickey, this will be an easy yes. The portion is solid, the flavor is well-balanced, and the texture is far better than your average cereal treat. If cereal treats aren’t usually your thing or you tend to prioritize more unique Animal Kingdom snacks, the price might feel a bit steep (even with the AP discount). Zuri’s Sweets Shop Mickey Strawberry Cereal Treat Still, Zuri’s Sweets Shop delivered something charming, flavorful, and fun, which is honestly all we ask from a themed park sweet. We walked away pleasantly surprised, and if they ever decide to make a whole line of strawberry-themed treats, we’d be first in line to try them. There are lots of things we love about EPCOT during the holiday season. Glimmering Greenhouses! The EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays is a big one, for sure, along with all the tasty snacks and treats that come with it, but one of our favorite rides in the park also gets a holiday overlay we can’t get enough of. Usually, we have to wait until the Festival of the Holidays begins to see Glimmering Greenhouses, but that’s not the case this year — it’s arrived early! Glimmering Greenhouses is the holiday overlay version of Living With The Land, a calm, leisurely boat ride that takes you through how EPCOT grows its own food to support Disney World’s dining. Check out the “hidden” Mickey! While the actual ride is the same, you’ll get to see holiday decor all over the ride. Some of the hidden Mickeys have reindeer noses and antlers, you’ll spot some holiday wreaths, and there are even holiday lights up all over the ride that give it a new look as well. We love the holiday lights! If you want to get a really great look at what the ride looks like with all the holiday decor, we recommend riding the attraction at night, since you’ll really get to see those lights shine! There’s so much to see Additionally, you can check out the Behind the Seeds: Glimmering Greenhouses tour, which costs between $39-$49 per person, and is a one-hour-long tour of the greenhouses and fish farm that make up The Land pavilion. In our experience, it’s super underrated, and a great way to get closer to some of the holiday decorations — especially since the tours take place at 6 PM, 7 PM, and 8 PM. We got to do this tour last year and LOVED it! You can also check out the normal Behind The Seeds Tour during the day, if you’d like. Anyone who goes to Walt Disney World these days knows there are plenty of things guests need to keep charged. From phones to smart watches to earbuds to MagicBands, there are plenty of things to plug in each night. However, the most important re-charge needed might be for you and your family, through a good night’s sleep at their Disney World hotel. Is there anything better than plopping down after a busy park day? If you find yourself struggling to catch enough Zzzzzs at the “Most Magical Place on Earth,” or you know, just in everyday life, we’ve found the PERFECT device… DISCLOSURE: This post may contain affiliate links, meaning when you click the links and make a purchase, we receive a commission. The Dreamegg! Dreamegg Portable Travel White Noise Machine We’re going to come right out and admit, there was a time when we were a bit skeptical of white noise machines. However, the Dreamegg totally changed our viewpoint. Truth be told, members of our team were always annoyed at the idea of a sound machine because white noise and big fans sounded aggressive to them. However, with adjustable volume and sounds, they didn’t have to worry about that and could set it to what they’d like to listen to at a comfortable volume. Dreamegg Portable Travel White Noise Machine On top of that, this thing is so small it can fit in the palm of your hand, so it doesn’t take up much space on a night table. It has the potential to be hooked up to a charger or be enjoyed on a battery, and features 35 different volume levels for such a tiny object. Itc omes is a variety of different colors to match practically any aesthetic. And it has 16 different sounds ranging from DIFFERENT kinds of fans and fan speeds, to standard white noise, soundscapes, waterfalls, rain, birds, lullabies, and beyond. Dreamegg Portable Travel White Noise Machine The machine is also equipped with a timer button that can be set to either 30, 60, or 90 minutes, or set not to cut off until you turn it off when you wake. Even our team members’ kids enjoyed it! Conveniently, it uses the same USB-C charger that most newer phone models have switched to using, so you don’t have to keep up with an odd charging plug. Dreamegg Portable Travel White Noise Machine What’s the cost of all of that? Around $16 on Amazon! There are even bundle offers for a pair for less than $30, or a model including a zippered travel case for $25. Not only does that make it an easy essential to pick up for Disney World, but it also makes it an easy stocking stuffer gift for friends, family, coworkers, teachers, and others. SHOP HERE If you want to get a good night’s sleep in your Disney hotel… or even in your bedroom at home, get over to Amazon ASAP to pick up the Dreamegg, and stay tuned to DFB for more Disney recommendations! Disney World changes all the time, which means you might show up ready for magic and bump right into a construction wall. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad Construction When you’re planning a trip for December 2025, you’ll want to know exactly which rides and shows will be unavailable so you can adjust your plans before you’re standing in the middle of a park wondering why the wait time says “Closed.” Several big closures are on the schedule this winter across Disney World, and each one will impact your day in a different way. We’re breaking down the three refurbishments you need to know about and offering some solid alternatives so you can keep the fun going. Kali River Rapids at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Kali River Rapids is one of the most popular ways to cool off in Animal Kingdom, but you won’t be hopping into those rafts this December. The ride closed for refurbishment on October 6th, 2025, and the plan is for it to reopen sometime later in December. Kali River Rapids Disney has not confirmed the exact date yet, which means it could stay closed through most of the month. Winter is typically when Disney chooses to work on water rides, so this one isn’t a huge surprise, but it does leave a noticeable gap in the park’s attraction lineup. Kali River Rapids construction If you’re used to relying on Kali River Rapids for a mid-day cooldown or a boost of thrill, you can pivot to Expedition Everest. It offers speed, fun surprises, and plenty of wind-in-your-face moments. For families who want something more relaxed, take a ride on Kilimanjaro Safaris. While it’s not a soaking splash ride, it is an experience you can’t get anywhere else, and the cooler weather in December often makes the animals more active. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad at Magic Kingdom Big Thunder Mountain Railroad began a massive refurbishment on January 6th, 2025, and it’s not coming back until 2026. Construction at Big Thunder Mountain This is a multi-year project, and it’s a big one. Disney is giving the entire attraction new energy. You can expect fresh magic woven into the existing story and new ways that it ties into the land around it. This long closure is also notable because work on the surrounding area is shifting too. Disney is preparing for future changes that will connect the attraction to the new Villains Land and to Liberty Square. There is also overlap with the project to fill in the Rivers of America as part of the upcoming Cars-themed expansion. Big Thunder Mountain construction Because Big Thunder is such a huge part of Frontierland, you’ll feel its absence as soon as you walk in. If you’re craving that rush of outdoor coaster energy, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train is your closest option in terms of smooth speed mixed with themed storytelling. If you want something with a little more intensity, Space Mountain can easily scratch that itch. For guests with little ones who loved Big Thunder for its approachable thrills, Barnstormer remains a great pick for a first coaster experience. Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin at Magic Kingdom Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin closed on August 4th, 2025, for a substantial enhancement project. It will remain closed until sometime in 2026, and the updates coming to this attraction are extensive. A brand-new character named Buddy will appear in an introductory scene designed to train guests before the mission begins. He was created by Walt Disney Imagineering and Pixar Animation Studios and serves as a support-bot who gets you ready for your assignment at Star Command. ©Disney The ride vehicles are also getting a complete design refresh inspired by Buzz Lightyear’s Star Command colors. Each one will include real-time scoring displays, new lighting effects, and handheld blasters that allow for more accurate aim. These blasters will feature always-on lasers plus vibration and sound effects so you know exactly when you land a hit. Imagineers have even redesigned the targets throughout the attraction so they light up and react when blasted. These enhancements passed a major milestone recently when Imagineers were invited to playtest the targets, blasters, and gameplay. The updates are shaping up to transform the ride into a far more interactive experience. ©Disney While it’s down, you can still get your competitive fix at Tomorrowland Speedway or aim for a more immersive adventure on Space Mountain. For families who love the Toy Story vibe specifically, Toy Story Mania in Hollywood Studios is the closest comparison, offering high-energy gameplay and tons of personality. Vacation Fun at Disney’s Hollywood Studios Vacation Fun, the Mickey and Minnie shorts experience, closed on October 20th, 2025, for refurbishment and is planned to reopen later this year. The exact date is still unannounced. This is an easy, air-conditioned break spot during a long day at Hollywood Studios, so its closure can impact your mid-day rest plans. Vacation Fun If you need a chill alternative, head to Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway. While it’s not a sit-down show, it does offer a fun ride-through story that still feels relaxed compared to the more intense attractions in the park. For an indoor break that doesn’t involve a queue, Walt Disney Presents is another solid option where you can cool down and explore at your own pace. Vacation Fun seating We’ll continue to keep you updated as these refurbishments progress and reopening timelines shift — because nobody wants to be surprised by a “Temporarily Closed” sign on their favorite ride. Driving around the Orlando area is about to change forever as Waymo – the company behind a fleet of autonomous self-driving cars that function like taxis – is coming to the City Beautiful. ©Waymo After reports emerged earlier in 2025 that the proclaimed “future of transportation” was coming to the city, Waymo confirmed that its service was coming to Orlando within weeks. In fact, according to Waymo’s social media accounts, Orlando is one of several major American cities that will feature the new Waymo service. Others include Miami, Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio. According to a blog post on the company’s website, “Waymo’s quickly entering a number of new cities in the U.S. and around the world, and our approach to every new city is consistent. We compare our driving performance against a proven baseline to validate the performance of the Waymo Driver and identify any unique local characteristics. As needed, we then refine the Waymo Driver’s AI to navigate these local nuances—which are becoming fewer with every city.” ©Waymo The post goes on to say that their “rigorous process of continuous iteration, validation, and local engagement ensures that we put communities first as we expand. This commitment is how we will continue to bring the safe, reliable, and magical ride-hail experience to more Waymo riders around the globe.” Waymo, which was founded in 2016, can trace its roots through the Google Self-Driving Car Project of 2009 and Stanford Self-Driving Car Project of 2004. As of 2025, the company’s self-driving car services gave 250,000 paid rides per week, totaling over 1 million miles monthly. ©Waymo The self-driving “robotaxi” service Waymo is about to arrive in Orlando and several other major American cities. Stay tuned to DFB for further updates as the service rolls out. Destination: Disney World! FIRST LOOK at the NEWEST Store in Disney Springs
Disney4me posted a topic in Disney Food/Restaurants
It is an exciting time to be a Disney World fan. SO much new stuff is coming to the resorts. We’re getting entire new lands (with new rides), expansions, ride updates, and so much more. The Disney Drop Shop has opened! However, the parks aren’t the only spaces in Disney World getting new things. Over in Disney Springs, we’re anxiously awaiting the grand opening of LEVEL99. While we wait, though, a brand new STORE has opened in Disney Springs, so come with us as we take a first look! You’ll find the brand new store inside Marketplace Co-Op in the Marketplace section of Disney Springs. It’s called The Disney Drop Shop and it’s where you’ll find loads of blind box collectibles by brands like Cosbi, Beast Kingdom, and Popsmart (the brand behind Labubu toys). Inside the shop You’ll basically see the collections in glass cases. You can purchase a mystery box that includes one of the figures (or more, if you want to try and get all the items in the collection). However, you can also purchase a whole case, which guarantees you’ll get every item in the collection. We spotted a lot of really cool collections, like this Winnie the Pooh balloon collection by Cosbi. Pooh! Remember that fun Ewok collection Disney teased when it announced the shop? Well, we found them in the shop! It’s a Plush Keychain collection by Cosbi. Plush Ewok Keychain collection In fact, you’ll find plenty to satisfy Star Wars fans here! Star Wars mystery box We also found a Stitch Little Emotions mystery box collection. Stitch Pricing for individual figures ranges anywhere from $7.99 to $20.99, although if you’re buying a whole case, you’ll spend quite a bit more. You’re only allowed to purchase two single boxes per style, per person or one full case per person. There is a limit Disney had previously mentioned that the store would be using a virtual wait list to get in, but when we visited, it wasn’t in use. It probably depends on just how busy the shop is on any given day. At the time, we did see a sign about the virtual wait list that was turned around. Stay tuned to DFB for more. Universal’s refillable mug perk just got BETTER — for a limited time! Universal Orlando The holidays are here at Universal Orlando, and the parks are sparkling with festive lights, seasonal shows, and holiday treats that are almost too cute to eat (almost). From dazzling decorations in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter to festive performances and themed snacks across the park, there’s a little extra magic at every turn. Whether you’re visiting with family, friends, or just your love of all things theme park, Universal’s holiday offerings are the perfect mix of cheer, thrills, and mischief — and yes, there’s a festive beverage hack you’ll definitely want to know about. Listen up, Soda Goblins (it’s me — I’m a self-proclaimed Soda Goblin), Universal has just debuted an offer you might find too good to pass up on your next Universal visit. If your theme park experience isn’t complete without a giant cup of something fizzy (or caffeinated, or both), Universal Orlando has just dropped a deal that’s basically made for YOU. From November 21st through January 4th, 2026, you can snag two Coca-Cola Freestyle Holiday Souvenir Cups and get a third one FREE. Yes, you read that correctly. Buy two, get one free. It’s like the holiday season finally understands that hydration (err, my sweet caffeinated soda) — and holiday cheer — go hand in hand. ©Universal But, before you get too excited and start imagining a line of three massive mugs stacked in your stroller or linked to your belt bag, there are a few details you’ll want to know. First, this is an in-park offer only. You can’t buy these online or have them magically appear at home while you binge-watch your favorite holiday movie (bummer, I know.) You’ll need to be walking the streets of Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure or Epic Universe, cup in hand, possibly dodging Minions and wizards, to cash in. Coca- Cola Freestyle Machine Second, refills are generous, but not unlimited. The Coca-Cola Freestyle machines are still a marvel (and a great perk to add to your day at Universal) — pouring everything from classic Coca-Cola to Cherry Fanta — but Universal restricts each cup no more than one pour per 10 minutes, and refills are only good for the day of purchase. So yes, it’s perfect for staying hydrated while hopping from The Wizarding World of Harry Potter to Despicable Me Minion Mayhem, buuuut don’t plan on leaving your cup at home for your next park visit. The best part about this though is that you CAN pay for the mug to be reactivated for subsequent visits beyond its first purchase which turns it from fun souvenir to functional money saver in an instant. Refill anyone?! And here’s a pro tip: think about your holiday squad. Three cups for the price of two? That’s basically three days of caffeine and soda for you, your spouse, and maybe the kid who insists on a new cup every hour (am I right fellow parents?) It’s also a fun way to flex your Universal park savvy — nothing says “I know my theme park deals” quite like strategically acquiring a third cup while everyone else is sipping from a generic paper cup and paying for refills throughout the rest of the day. Earl may try to bum that free cup off of you! These holiday souvenir cups are available at any in-park food and beverage location that sells Coca-Cola Freestyle Souvenir Cups, which means nearly every quick-service spot in Universal Orlando has you covered. Grab your mugs early in the day, because these babies are holiday-exclusive, and you’ll want to maximize that fizzy freedom before the end-of-year crowds hit. The Grinch Who-liday Spectacular So whether you’re a diehard soda fan, a coffee chugger, or just someone who appreciates the sheer thrill of a cup you can refill with anything your heart desires, Universal’s holiday cup offer is the perfect excuse to sip, stroll, and maybe even stage a little friendly “who can get the most creative mix” contest with your group. The bottom line here is: two cups, one free, holiday magic, and unlimited (well, almost) refills in one day. If you’re spending the holidays at Universal Orlando, this is one offer your beverage-loving self absolutely cannot ignore. Don’t go just yet — we’re just getting started kicking off the holidays at Universal! We’re bringing you along for all that Universal’s holly jolly season has to offer from the decked out windows and doors to full fledged Grinchmas celebrations! Check back in with us to see everything you can expererience when you make Universal a part of your holiday festivities this season. When it comes to dining at Disney World, you’ve got a TON of options. Want something quick and easy? You’ve got it. Something middle-of-the-road and comforting? Yep, that too. And if you’re looking for something upscale and luxurious, you can find that as well. Wood-fired Steak and Eggs We recently stopped by Topolino’s Terrace at Disney’s Riviera Resort to see what was cookin’ for breakfast, and now we’re bringing you our FULL review. Is it worth a stop on your next trip to the Most Magical Place on Earth? Find out here! Atmosphere Topolino’s Terrace — Flavors of the Riviera is located atop Disney’s Riviera Resort! Topolino’s Terrace This rooftop restaurant features signature dining for dinner, fireworks views in the evening, and a prix fixe Character Breakfast — Breakfast à la Art with Mickey & Friends! Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Daisy start the day with you in art-inspired costumes unique to Topolino’s! Swanky atmosphere Topolino’s Terrace is inspired by “cliffside restaurants of the Riviera,” and the cuisine features regional favorites. The name Topolino means Mickey Mouse in Italian, so this elegant dining experience still has a Disney flair! Our table setting The restaurant boasts an outdoor terrace with incredible views of the Riviera and other surrounding resorts, which makes it an excellent place to catch some fireworks at night! We will say, though, that this character breakfast can get a bit rowdy and loud in here. Just something to keep in mind if you’re looking to book a table! An incredible view But enough about the restaurant — what’s on the menu here?! Menu The breakfast menu is prix fixe and features your choice of one entrée, plus assorted beverages like coffee, juice, soda, milk, and more. Breakfast for adults is $54 per person and $35 per child. Main menu In addition to the included drinks, alcoholic and nonalcoholic cocktails and more are available for an upcharge. Some additional drinks And now, onto the main event — the characters! Characters Topolino’s Terrace features a character breakfast, featuring some of your favorites, including Sculptor Donald… Donald …Ballerina Daisy… Daisy …Writer Minnie… Minnie …and Painter Mickey! Mickey Each character walks around and will visit your table at least once, so you can take photos and get autographs if you’d like! Eats Before the entrées come out, you’re greeted with a basket of different pastries, including croissants, chocolate chip muffins, and pain au chocolat, along with an assortment of spreads. The spreads include honey butter, house-made fruit jam, and a chocolate-hazelnut mousse similar to Nutella. Bread and pastries The croissant was flaky and buttery, the pain au chocolat was flaky, buttery, and had a bit of chocolate inside. We wish there were a bit more chocolate, though. The chocolate muffin was soft and moist, and had a couple of slightly melted chocolate chips on top that added some creamy chocolate flavor. The chocolate-hazelnut spread was creamy and chocolaty, with a hint of hazelnut flavor. The jam was more liquid, which made it easy to dip the pastries into. It was sweet and fruity and tasted like a strawberry. The butter was your classic butter with a hint of honey sweetness. Creamy and fluffy, pretty easy to spread on the pastries. Delicious spreads This was really solid! It came out super quickly (we ordered it, and probably 2 minutes later it arrived), so we were a bit worried. But this was one of the better steak and eggs we’ve ever had anywhere, let alone at Disney World. We ordered the steak medium and the eggs fried and over easy. Wood-fired Steak and Eggs The steak was cooked really well and was super tender. It had a bit of a chew to it, but it didn’t feel like a mouth workout. It was topped with some tender mushrooms and some cooked tomatoes. The polenta below the steak was cheesy, buttery, and had the slightest bit of grit. It was a great texture and complemented the steak well. Steak The potatoes had a crispy outside and were soft and tender on the inside. They had a bit of seasoning to them, but for the most part, you just got a lot of great tomato flavor. Potatoes The eggs were cooked really well, too, which is exactly what we asked for. They had a crispy bottom, and the egg yolks were runny when we cut into them. We would have loved it if there had been a piece of toast to dip into the runny eggs, but hey, we’re not complaining. Drinks We had to get a glass of POG juice, which is passion fruit, orange, and guava — it’s a staple of Disney World, and for a good reason. It’s so fruity and tropical, but it’s also sweet and tart at the same time. If you like tropical flavors, you won’t go wrong with this one! Classic POG juice We also ordered the Island Fusion Punch, which was an additional $16.50. This is made with Mount Gay Eclipse Rum, Passion Fruit-Orange-Guava Juice, Pineapple, and Lime Juice. This was good, although it tasted like a watered-down POG juice. We actually enjoyed the non-boozy POG juice itself much more than the alcoholic drink. However, if you want some alcohol in a sweet and fruity drink, this would be a great choice. Island Fusion Punch You can definitely taste the passion fruit, orange, and guava, but with the other ingredients, it ends up not tasting as strong as a normal POG juice. It wasn’t crazy strong, but you could definitely taste a hint of the alcohol, and we could definitely feel it a bit too. Nosh or Not This Disney World restaurant is a must-visit if… You’re looking for a fun character breakfast that doesn’t sacrifice good quality food. While the characters are the main draw here, the food is also excellent. Many times it’s hard to find both, but at Topolino’s, we don’t think you’ll leave disappointed. You want somewhere to eat along the Skyliner route. This restaurant is pretty convenient to get to if you’re staying along the Skyliner route or are planning on going to EPCOT or Hollywood Studios after breakfast. You want a nice, sit-down meal before you start your chaotic day. If rope-drop isn’t your thing and you like a slow start to your morning, this is a great choice! You should skip this Disney World spot if… You want to get to the parks as early as possible. Chances are, you’ll miss rope drop if you dine here for breakfast. You’re looking for a quick breakfast before heading into the parks. This is a sit-down meal, and while service can be pretty quick, it won’t be as quick as grabbing something from a counter-service spot. You don’t care about characters. At breakfast, the prix fixe price means that you’re paying more for the characters than the food, so keep that in mind. Overall The overall atmosphere was very chaotic, but we feel like that is to be expected. It is a prix fixe menu that includes your choice of coffee or juice, pastries, and a choice of entree. We love that the characters are dressed up to match the theming, and at the end of their set, they do a little song and dance that was really fun! They move fairly quickly from table to table, but definitely spend more time with larger groups and kids. It’s a little bit on the pricey side; however, the food was really good, and you get to see some iconic characters. Plus, the view from Topolino’s Terrace is wonderful! Greetings from Topolino’s Terrace! In the meantime, we’ll be on the lookout for more restaurant updates from Disney World and beyond. Skip the hot chocolate — this holiday, EPCOT is serving up something sweet, colorful, and all about Figment. Annual Passholders, this one’s for you! Figment in his sweater!!!!! Now that we’ve had a sneak peek at what’s in store for this year’s EPCOT Festival of the Holidays (and locked in our dining reservations with reserved seats for the always-popular Candlelight Processional) there’s just one thing left to complete the experience. Our favorite purple dragon, Figment, of course! And this year, he’s bringing an exclusive collectible cup and festive treat that you can only get if you know exactly where to find it. The magic of the holiday season is returning to EPCOT, and this year, Annual Passholders have a very special reason to celebrate: The beloved Annual Passholder holiday drink is back — and it will come in a collectible Figment cup! 2024 EPCOT Festival of the Holidays Starting on November 28th through December 30th, 2025, Annual Passholders can snag this limited-edition cup at Refreshment Station. The preview we’ve seen of the cup itself looks adorable! It features Figment (the purple dragon we all love and adore) decked out in his holiday sweater. It’s the kind of collectible you’ll want to display even after the last sip and impress all of your Disney friends with when they come over. ©Disney And the drink? Well, it’ll come filled with a Fanta blue raspberry slushy and topped with assorted candies. It’s sweet, colorful, and yes — if our past experience with blue raspberry slushes around Disney World is any indication, your lips might turn a festive shade of blue while enjoying it! Whether you’re collecting it, sipping it while wandering the festival (or both), this is one holiday treat that’s impossible to resist. Frostbite Frozen Slushy (2024) So if you’re looking to pick up your own once this year’s Festival of the Holidays kicks off, there’s a few things you’ll want to keep in mind before you step up to the counter to order. To grab this exclusive drink, you’ll need valid EPCOT admission AND a theme park reservation for the same day. Annual Passholders with valid admission can still enter EPCOT after 2:00 PM or on “good-to-go” days without a reservation, though availability could be limited. Keep in mind, block-out dates for certain passes will also still apply. Disney World Annual Pass When you’re ready to buy, make sure you have your digital Annual Pass ID from the tickets and passes section of the My Disney Experience app pulled up on your phone or your physical Annual Pass card, AND a government-issued ID. Haven’t linked your pass yet? Go ahead and do that ahead of time to make things easier for later! Treats are available daily at Refreshment Station, while supplies last, and as always, offerings, dates, hours, and locations are subject to change without notice. Last year’s AP exclusive drink — Frostbite Frozen Slushy We’re betting that this year’s Annual Passholder holiday drink is the perfect mix of sweet, playful, and festive — a little cup full of holiday cheer, topped with a collectible Figment souvenir to make your festival visit extra memorable. Traveling through the Orlando International Airport this holiday season is changing, and you are going to want to be aware! Orlando International Airport We all know that traveling during the holiday season can present its fair share of challenges, and preparation can go a long way. MCO just announced a major change that could throw a wrench into how quickly you get around the airport. We’ve all been there, rushing through the Orlando International Airport trying to catch a tram. Travelers have had their complaints when it comes to the trams (us included). Sometimes they’re there waiting for you, and other times you’re stuck waiting an eternity. Well, it looks like a change is coming! MCO Airport Security Starting next month, the airport will begin replacing its trams. The positive: The trams will finally be getting a replacement. The negative: It’s happening right in the middle of the busiest time of the year! Baggage claim at MCO! Orlando International Airport is alerting travelers about potential changes and delays as it begins a major project to replace the trams that shuttle passengers to select airline terminals, according to News 6. The work will officially begin on December 3rd. The project will replace the vehicles that transport passengers between gates 70–129 and Terminals A and B. This may impact passengers flying with Air Canada, Avelo Airlines, Delta, Frontier Airlines, LATAM, Southwest, and Virgin Atlantic. MCO Airport Get ready for a lengthy time range, as the project is estimated to take around 2 years to complete. Once work begins on the first side, only one tram will be kept in operation, rather than the two. Don’t worry too much, as shuttle buses will operate around the clock as a transportation option between the gates and terminals. Orlando International Airport It’s recommended that you give yourself an extra 30 minutes at Orlando Airport because of this transportation project. Is it inconvenient? Absolutely! Is it long overdue? Also, yes! The old trams were getting to the point where they just weren’t cutting it anymore. Airport officials have said that the new trams will be more reliable, eco-friendly, and faster. Orlando International Airport All in all, this will be an extra busy time for travelers coming to Disney World — so be prepared and give yourself enough time. It’s powered by a USB cable or batteries, so you can keep it plugged in or keep it running all night long. Winnie the Pooh Squishy Light The light automatically turns off after 60 minutes, so it’s perfect for little ones who aren’t quite ready to go to sleep without a light on. It’s also perfect for a nursery and for middle-of-the-night diaper changes, without turning on the overhead light. Look at him lit up! You can adjust the brightness by tapping Pooh, and there are high, medium, and low light levels, so there’s one for everyone. This little guy is also great to bring on vacation, so kids can have the comfort of their favorite nightlight with them while they travel. Toy-making giant Mattel Inc. is developing plans that could bring the first retractable-roof water park to Orlando, along with Barbie, Thomas the Tank and Hot Wheels theming. Creative and operational work is underway, led by Orlando-based Martin Aquatic. “It is an opportunity to play with one of the cornerstone brands in Americana,” said Josh Martin, president and creative director. “For the Mattel Wonder projects, we are the creative lead for all the design and layout of storytelling, as well as the aquatic engineer of record, where we do mechanical, electrical, structural.” Mattel announced this week its intention to create five water parks — dubbed Mattel Wonder Indoor Waterparks — with Orlando targeted as the first location. Where exactly they will go has not be revealed. “We’re not fully ready to announce what those locations are,” Martin said. That information may be shared as early as next month, he said. Some vendors have been selected, he said, including Canada-based OpenAire, which makes an aluminum-glass building with a retractable roof. “The beauty of their building is it’s not like the traditional Great Wolf Lodge or some of the old legacy indoor water parks. It has natural light. It’s got a roof that lets natural weather come in,” Martin said. “In Florida, it’s going to be weatherized and protect us,” he said. “We’re not going to run the risk of afternoon thunderstorms clearing out our water park.” The plans are on target to open sometime in 2028, perhaps earlier, Martin said. The projects also will include “experiential retail” and family entertainment center components at each location, he said. Its water slide vendor has not been announced, Martin said. “I can say that we will have an exclusive ride that will be a water slide that you can only experience at Mattel,” he said. The design focus is on bringing the world of Mattel products to life, Martin said. “We’re looking at those classic, iconic elements … What is familiar but unique about a Barbie area? So we look at the architecture. We’re not so focused on having Barbie characters. That’s not going to be the intent,” he said. “Mattel has an incredible history of board games and Mattel toys and games, and so being able to look at things like Uno, and think outside the box – what if I were to design a water slide that was around Uno? What elements would I include that feels like you’re playing the game?” Martin said. “And the same with Thomas and Friends, looking at these evergreen brands that means so much to those that are young and young at heart still.” Each park will have 12 or more unique brands featured, Martin said. Franchises within Mattel, which is based in El Segundo, California, also include Fisher-Price, American Girl, Thomas & Friends, Masters of the Universe, Matchbox, Monster High, Polly Pocket and Barney. “Mattel Wonder Indoor Waterparks will encompass many iconic Mattel brands that span generations of play, offering innovative water-based attractions and amenities in a dynamic new format for Mattel,” Julie Freeland, Mattel’s vice president of global location-based entertainment, said in a news release. “With the smaller, developing newcomers to the industry – like Mattel and the Peppa Pigs – what I think we’re seeing is test cases, if you will,” said Dennis Speigel, CEO of International Theme Park Services. “And certainly Orlando, with over 70 million tourists, is a good market to test your hamburger,” he said. But Central Florida could be considered rich with water parks already, with Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando, SeaWorld Orlando and Legoland Florida all operating aquatic attractions, plus numerous resorts with elaborate swimming pools. Great Wolf Lodge opened its first Florida location in Naples last year. “Water parks are still a good venture with a high return and a lower investment level,” Speigel said. “If you’re in the right market and you can make that work to your advantage with your guests.” Being a tourist hotspot is a plus, but the focus will be on the growing local population, Martin said. “We will be a destination that is catering to day guests. That is our goal. We are competing for a new person every day,” said Martin, an Orlando native. “I’ve had many a day’s ruined by really bad sunburns or ruined by thunderstorms,” he said. “A weather-proof, weather-protected environment is something that this market doesn’t have.” dbevil@orlandosentinel.com View the full article

While the Holiday Season may be here, theme park fans are humming “it’s the most wonderful time of the year” for a different reason: IAAPA! ©Dollywood The IAAPA Expo – the annual industry trade show event put on by the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions – took place from November 17th through the 21st in Orlando, featuring major announcements from theme park major players, including Legoland and SeaWorld. SeaWorld is counting on SeaQuest — which is being designed and manufactured by major ride maker Vekoma (which designed Tron: Lightcycle Run and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train amongst others) — to bring in a new audience to the park. According to Carr, “This is one of those experiences that we hope everyone sees, whether they’re local or if they live on the other side of the world. They see what we’re building and go, ‘That’s one of a kind, and it’s a world first, so I’m going to fly across the world because I need to go ride SEAQuest.’ And I can tell you — it’s going be that level of a ride.” Other new attractions and ride vehicles showcased at IAAPA 2025 include: The amphibious ride vehicles for Nightlight Expedition, the hybrid coaster/whitewater raft ride coming to Dollywood. The attraction will allow guests to “soar over the Smoky Mountains, plunge into whitewater rapids, climb a mountain range, and explore a bioluminescent lake.” The Bolliger & Mabillard (B&M) ride vehicles for Tormenta Rampaging Run, the new dive coaster coming to Six Flags Over Texas. The Dodge Charger-themed ride vehicles for Universal Studios Hollywood’s upcoming Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift attraction were once again on display, building further anticipation for the coaster’s 2026 debut. ©Universal The 2025 IAAPA convention showcased some of the most anticipated rides and attractions coming to theme parks in 2026. If you travel a lot, you may very well have a passport, but it’s kind of a hassle keeping all those documents handy at the airport, right? Well, you’ve already been able to use your iPhone for your plane tickets, so why can’t you use your phone for your passport, too? Passport Now, Apple has rolled out a feature that lets you do just that: Save your passport on your iPhone. And we’re going to tell you how to do it! Okay, so if you have an Android phone, you’ve been able to save your passport to your digital wallet on your phone for nearly a year now. However, this feature is NEW to iPhones, so you can take advantage of the new Digital ID system that’s coming to airports. The program is rolling out in beta at over 250 U.S. airports for domestic travel. MCO Airport Security To use this at the TSA security checkpoint at the airport, here’s what you need: An iPhone 11 or later or an Apple Watch Series 6 or later, with the latest version of iOS or watch OS Face ID or Touch ID and Bluetooth turned on An Apple acocunt with two-factor authentication turned on An unexpired U.S. passport Your device region set to United States Bibbidy Bobbidy Bow Pink Phone Case on an iPhone To set up your Digital ID, do the following: Open the Wallet app on your iPhone. Tap on the “Add Card” button. Tap on “Driver’s License or ID Cards.” Tap “Digital ID” Choose whether you want to add your Digital ID to just your iPhone or to both your iPhone and paired Apple Watch Follow the onscreen instructions. You’ll be prompted to scan the machine-readable part of your passport photo page. Follow the onscreen instructions to read the passport chip with your iPhone. Place your iPhone on the chip as the screen indicates. You’ll then be promoted to take a Live Photo. When you’re ready, authenticate with Face ID or Touch ID and follow the onscreen instructions. If you use an accessibility feature on your iPhone, you can use your passcode to set up and then use your license or ID. TSA lines at MCO To use your Digital ID at TSA security at the airport, here’s what you should do: On an iPhone with Face ID, double-click the side button. On an iPhone with Touch ID, double-click the Home button. You may be prompted to authenticate with Face ID or Touch ID. Tap your Digital ID Hold the top of your iPhone or the display of your Apple Watch near the ID reader at TSA security. Review the information on your device screen. To consent, do the following: iPhone with Face ID: Double-click the side button. iPhone using Touch ID: Hold your finger on the Home button. Apple Watch: Double-click the side button. When you successfully present your Digital ID, you’ll see a checkmark on your phone indicating you’re done. Welcome to the Orlando International Airport We’re not going to lie, it almost seems easier just to whip your passport out and show it to security instead, right? But if you don’t want to carry your passport around…or if you forget it (and trust me, it happens), this could keep you from having to deal with a big hassle at the airport. Note that you can only use Digital ID at airports in participating states. You can check if your state is listed on the TSA website. Stay tuned to DFB for more.
