In our Disney Doodles series, different Disney artists take turns imaging what different Disney characters would do or see first if they had the chance to visit a Disney Park. In today’s Doodle, artist Ashley Taylor imagines what Si and Am from “Lady & The Tramp” would do if they could visit Magic Kingdom Park. In the film, driving Lady nuts by going after her family’s pet fish – and then pet bird – leaving disaster in their wake. According to Ashley, their penchant for pestering winged creatures may sway their choice of destination inside the park. “In ‘Lady & the Tramp,’ Si and Am are always causing mischief,” Ashley said. “It’s easy to imagine them causing a stir at Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room!” View the full article

This weekend’s Disney Doodle imagines what Max (as Powerline) from “A Goofy Movie” would do if he had the chance to visit a Disney Park. In “A Goofy Movie,” Goofy’s son Max takes on the identity of the popular singer Powerline and performs at his school – and catches the eye of a girl in the process. In addition to the yummy new eats at Woody’s Lunch Box at Toy Story Land, Disney’s Hollywood Studios has welcomed some other new menu items this summer at restaurants across the park. With new menus, vegan offerings, Star Wars-themed desserts, funnel cakes, and more, you’re definitely in for a tasty time. First up, if you’re craving anything Star Wars, this park is the place to go! There’s plenty of ways to satisfy your hunger for the force here, like the Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular Dessert Party! This dessert party is an experience that you just CAN’T miss out on! With Star Wars-themed desserts, drinks, and charcuterie and cheeses, this is definitely the dessert party you’re looking for. The party begins at Launch Bay, where you’ll get to enjoy reserved seating and a buffet with sweets such as Blue Milk Panna Cotta with crispy pearls, chocolate Darth Vader-themed cupcakes with peanut butter icing, and Raspberry Mousse Domes just to name a few. This thing is seriously so cool by itself, but then you add popcorn to it and it’s even better! Speaking of sweets, have you tried the new Cookies and Cream Funnel Cake at Oasis Canteen? Not only is it tasty, it’s has mouse ears too! New entrees include Buffalo Chicken Salad, a Smoked Prime Rib Sandwich, Pan-Seared Shrimp or Chicken Pasta, Beef and Blue Burger, and Vegan Tofu Lettuce Wraps! These wraps comes with salt and pepper crispy-fried tofu, lettuce cups, water chestnuts, shredded carrots, spicy cucumber, Szechuan sauce, and soba noodle salad. There’s also the Sci-Fi Barbecue Platter or the Drive-In BBQ Burger. The burger is a signature blend of beef with BBQ spice, house-made BBQ sauce, bacon, cheddar, and crispy-fried jalapeño and onion straws served on a brioche bun. The Sci-Fi Barbecue Platter features smoked pulled pork, St. Louis-style ribs, grilled chicken, sausage, cheddar cornbread, southern coleslaw, and cowboy beans finished with a Coca-Cola barbecue sauce. Next door at ABC Commissary, there’s a ton of new dinner entrées to choose from! Among these new items are the Shrimp Teriyaki Bowl (stir-fried Napa cabbage, snap peas, red peppers, carrots, onions, edamame, shitake mushrooms, and broccoli tossed in a house-made teriyaki sauce over brown rice) and the Southwest BBQ Burger (flame-broiled 1/3 lb angus burger topped with sweet BBQ pulled pork, bacon, bread and butter pickles, and cheddar cheese finished with garlic aïoli and crisp onion rings between Texas toast and served with signature southwestern steak fries dusted in chili-lime seasoning). For a couple healthful options, available for both lunch and dinner, you’ll love the Mediterranean Salad with Chicken or the Vegan Burger. The salad comes with grilled chicken breast on a bed of fresh mixed greens with cherry tomatoes, red onions, pepperoncini, kalamata olives, and feta cheese tossed in a Mediterranean vinaigrette and served with hummus and flatbread. The Vegan Burger is topped with lettuce, tomato, sautéed peppers and onions in a balsamic glaze, vegan mayonnaise ketchup, and sriracha mustard and served on a brioche bun with french fries. Last week we explored around the playful entrance of Pixar Pier in Disney California Adventure park. Pixar Pier is filled with themed attractions, entertainment, food and merchandise—all inspired by beloved Pixar characters and stories! Our second stop along Pixar Pier is Incredibles Park! Check out the tour of this super cool area in the video below. Inspired by “The Incredibles,” Incredibles Park is an inviting plaza featuring mid-century modern design aesthetics. Anchoring the neighborhood is the new Incredicoaster, which will take you on a thrilling race alongside the Parr family. A perfect combination of character figures, lighting, music and special effects brings all the action to life! We recently gave you a heads up that Disneyland Resort icon River Belle Terrace is now serving table service breakfast, and if you thought we’d miss a chance to review this offering, you were sorely mistaken. Disneyland correspondent Heather Sievers (@DiningInDisney) headed in and ordered everything on the menu — all for you! River Belle Terrace River Belle Terrace is a Disneyland icon for a reason: the dining location has been a fixture since the park’s opening, although its name has changed over the years. The current moniker has been in place since 1971, and the style and decor? Oh, just you wait! Atmosphere River Belle Terrace is located in Disneyland’s Frontierland, and its styling is ornate and historic. It all starts with this embellished menu board in front of the restaurant. Check out the filigreed carvings. River Belle Terrace Menu Board The patio — er, terrace! — has loads of seating, and we enjoyed dinner out here when the restaurant first changed from quick service to table service back in 2016. Check out the fringed umbrellas and the soaring columns on the restaurant’s facade. Southern grandness, indeed. Charm at River Belle Terrace The classic design details continue everywhere inside, starting with the check-in desk that’s adorned with wood moldings and subtle colors. Check In Desk The indoor dining space is a work of art. Some may say that art is straight out of Grandma’s design handbook, but we love the nostalgia evoked by the over-the-top elements. (You do spy those hanging planters? And the flower-adorned chandelier?) Dining Room There’s a definite attempt to bring the outdoors in here, with floral motifs evident everywhere you look. Banquet seating is upholstered with blooms, and even metal elements feature swirls and flourishes. Indoor Dining The ceiling is painted in pastels and features some neat moldings and curved shapes. Ceiling Details Surfaces here also have fun decor details, like this bronze bird statue near the front of the restaurant. Decor There’s a bit of a nautical vibe, too, including this ferry boat wheel and copper bell. Decor That nautical, ferry boat detail continues into some of the artwork as well, with this large painting capturing life on the Mississippi back in the day. Decor Walls are curvaceous here, with arched windows and pink accents. Lovely Windows Those windows let in tons of light and offer some great views of Frontierland and Rivers of America! Views But we’d be remiss if we didn’t point out one of the most fabulous features of this space: the wallpaper. The birds and blooms are colorful and romantic. Actually VERY back in style right now. Wallpaper Vibes Table settings are simple here, with real plates and napkins as befits a table service experience. Seating And while the seating isn’t the most comfortable we’ve experienced, the garden-style, white wrought-iron chairs fit the overall theme. Seating with a View On Heather’s visit, she received a handful of these complimentary hand wipes. Hand Wipes You’ll want to know why she needed those, so let’s get into the food! Eats The new breakfast menu at River Belle Terrace is not massive, but there are options for just about every type of diner. So whether you prefer a heavy, meaty breakfast or something a lot lighter, there’s something for everyone. New Breakfast Menu And Heather got it all! We’ll go through the menu item by item, starting at the top with the can’t-miss Monkey Bread! It’s called the Southern Sweet Skillet, and it is awesome! Southern Sweet Skillet with Monkey Bread! The warm and buttery bread is topped with candied pecans and whipped cream and rests in a pool of pecan butter. If we didn’t get your attention with “pool of pecan butter”, you’ll want to check your pulse. :p Monkey Bread There’s also some maple syrup on there, so really drive home the sweetness in contrast to the saltiness of the butter. This is indulgent, delicious, and definitely share-able! Monkey Bread Bite Next up is the Short Rib Skillet. This was one of Heather’s favorites, and it’s easy to see why. Two perfectly cooked eggs keep company with a huge pile of pulled, slow-cooked short ribs. Short Rib Skillet Texas toast and some (hidden) signature breakfast potatoes complete the super-filling and yummy skillet. Short Rib Skillet The Southern-Fried Bone-In Pork Chop is another hefty, meaty option. Also served with two sunny-side up eggs, the pork chop is fried to a deep golden brown and is slathered in bacon gravy. Say it with us: Bacon. Gravy. Southern-Fried Bone-In Pork Chop The pork was cooked very well and stayed moist beneath its crispy exterior. Pork Chop Bite And the signature potatoes were plentiful and tasty. There are lots of peppers and herbs in the potatoes, making them better than your average potato. Breakfast Potatoes Becky Thatcher’s Fried Green Tomatoes are a terrific vegetarian option here, and the accompaniments to this dish are also stand-outs! The tomatoes sandwich roasted corn and avocado relish, and there are deviled eggs and roasted cherry tomatoes as well. Becky Thatcher’s Fried Green Tomatoes The deviled eggs are fantastic and definitely go beyond the standard variety. So much color and flavor here! Deviled Eggs Mark Twain is essentially a basic breakfast platter, but the components are cooked well and tasty. You can’t really ask for more in a straight-forward plate of breakfast classics! Mark Twain Breakfast Platter Of course, there’s always this option: Mickey-Shaped Pancakes! We shared these with you when we first let you know about the new breakfast menu, but we love them so much. And we’re thrilled that they’re here! (You can still get a quick service version of these at Red Rose Taverne (the Village Haus’ Beauty and the Beast overlay)). Mickey-Shaped Pancakes This is a serious portion of pancakes, y’all. Two massive Mickey-shaped beauties cooked perfectly and served with berries and bacon. Really good and really cute. Mickey-Shaped Pancakes Country Biscuits and Gravy is a bit of a misnomer for the next dish, the star of which is actually a crispy fried chicken breast! Yeah, you can hit us up with bonus fried chicken anytime. The bacon gravy (!!) is delicious and smoky, and there’s plenty of it on the plate. Country Biscuits and Gravy The blistered tomatoes and sliced scallions help to balance the otherwise super-savory dish. Country Biscuits and Gravy If you prefer something a lot lighter, the Mixed Berry Parfait is a really tasty option. It’s layers of yogurt and granola and will fuel your adventures without weighing you down. Mixed Berry Parfait We imagine a few more berries would be welcome for most diners, but that granola had a good amount of cinnamon flavor. Overall, simple and good. Mixed Berry Parfait Aside from Oatmeal, the kids’ menu only features one item: Silver Dollar Pancakes. But honestly? These will satisfy most kids (and they’re big enough to fill even an adult!). They’re classic. Silver Dollar Pancakes Woo. Are you full yet? Yeah, we know: you’re hungrier than you were before. Us, too. But how great is this breakfast menu? We hope it sticks around for a long, long time! And if you prefer River Belle Terrace for dinner, don’t forget that there’s a Fantasmic Dining Package available here, too! Nosh or Not? Paddle in to River Belle Terrace for breakfast if: You love nostagic Disney dining locations and want to dine in a piece of history. You are looking for an awesome table service breakfast option in Disneyland. Mickey-shaped foods are your jam, and you can’t miss these pancakes! Swim along to another dining location if: Table service breakfast doesn’t fit with your Disneyland touring strategy. You aren’t a fan of the decor and atmosphere. The menu options don’t really appeal to you — or you have a hard time swallowing $17 for pancakes… Overall River Belle Terrace wins loads of points for its kitschy decor and sentimental value, and now that table service breakfast has arrived, there’s even more incentive to stop into this Disneyland landmark. The menu has decent variety — and it’s all good! There’s not a bad dish among the bunch, making it a can’t-miss if you’ve got room in your day to linger over some delicious breakfast eats! Summer is in full swing! And what better way to soak up the sun than a refreshing day at Disney’s Water Parks. Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon appeal to the whole family with playful theming, splashy rides, tasty treats and even character meet and greets. And how about that lazy river. But there’s lots to know before you tackle the water parks with a toddler in tow: Both water parks are super kid friendly with gentler offerings and dedicated areas carved out for little ones to explore. There is Ketchakiddee Creek at Typhoon Lagoon and Tike’s Peak at Blizzard Beach. Both offer uniquely themed pint-size slides, mini inner tube rides, 6-inch wading areas and water play areas sized just right. The S.S. Squirt interactive tug boat is tops at Typhoon Lagoon while the squirting snow-castle fountain play area ranks high at Blizzard Beach. (The areas are for kids 2-5 years old, or under 48 inches tall.) If you forgot your child’s pool floaties, no worries. Disney provides complimentary life vests for little ones offering that extra peace of mind. You can grab one from one of the many racks available throughout Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon. Other needed supplies like sunscreen are available for purchase at the shops on site. Kids can get their character fix at the water parks with photo ops and autograph signings. Say aloha to Lilo and Stitch at Typhoon Lagoon, or meet up with Goofy who hangs out at Blizzard Beach. Today, I continue my Sketches from the park series as I started off early with a beautiful morning in Epcot at the Germany pavilion. As I walked in and around World Showcase, I noticed Spaceship Earth starting to light up in the distance as the sun came up and seemed to highlight the sphere quite nicely, almost welcoming me to the park. I walked around the lagoon and decided on Germany. The nice variety of colors and architecture has always caught my eye and just seemed to call me in. The Germany pavilion can be really fun (and challenging) to sketch with all its’ amazing details. You could literally turn around 360 degrees and have something great to sketch at every angle here. I sat down my bag of art supplies at a table in the courtyard and begun to figure out what I wanted to focus on for my latest sketch. The Volkunst clock cottage was starting to light up slightly with the sun peeking over the rooftops behind me, so I started my sketch there. I took out my sepia ink pen and started drawing lines in my watercolor sketchbook. It was just me (and a few bird friends) on this quiet morning in the courtyard, not even the German background music had begun to play yet. After getting to a point I was happy with in my line work sketch, I took out my small travel watercolor kit to start to bring the sketch to life a little more. I added watercolor around the Volkunst cottage and let the rest of the drawing just fall off with less color and detail to help the cottage stand out in the drawing. About an hour after sitting down in the Germany pavilion, I had completed my latest watercolor sketch and the German music had begun to play. Each time I learn a little more and improve as an artist, it’s an important part of the process, and I love the feeling of being out there sketching Plein Air in the parks. Make way for Vampirina (“Whoa-OH-oh!”), because this Disney Channel and Disney Junior star is on her way to BOTH Disney World and Disneyland this fall! After debuting last fall on Disney Channel and Disney Junior, “Vampirina” has become one of the newest hit series for kids and families, ranking among the top five series on TV among girls ages 2 – 5. Now, the star of the show is making her way to Disney Parks, just in time for Halloween! “Vampirina” blends spooky fun, heartfelt storytelling and Broadway-caliber music in stories that follow Vampirina (aka “Vee”) as she faces the joys and trials of being the new kid in town, including making friends and attending a new school in the human world. Along the way, Vee learns that it may be easier to blend in with her peers, but it’s more valuable to celebrate the qualities that make each individual unique. Vampirina will be arriving at Disneyland Resort this fall for Halloween Time.
