Marvel Land Concept Art for Disneyland Paris ©Disney Scot Drake, Creative Executive for Walt Disney Imagineering’s Global Marvel Portfolio, shares how partners across Studios and Entertainment “are expanding this epic story universe in a way that, for the first time ever, will allow you to take on an active role alongside these Super Heroes.” The interconnected stories are, in some cases, already weaving together. In our Disney Doodle series, our team of Disney artists take turns imagining what different Disney characters would do or see first if they had the chance to visit a Disney Park. In today’s Doodle, artist Ashley Taylor envisions what Mulan and her sidekicks, Mushu and Crikee, would do if they had the chance to visit Disney’s Hollywood Studios. According to Ashley, the trio may seek out some illuminating nighttime entertainment. “Mulan, Mushu and Crikee love setting off fireworks, so it’s easy to imagine them enjoying the bright nighttime ‘Jingle Bell, Jingle Bam!’ show at Disney Hollywood Studios!” Ashley said. There was an idea. To bring together a group of remarkable people, to see if they could become something more. It was called the Avengers Initiative. That original idea has now evolved into a brand-new global Avengers Initiative. One that brings us—the next generation of remarkable people—together. To find our power and become something more. To see if we can work alongside the Avengers so we may all become stronger together. The Stark Expo in Hong Kong was to be a first step: A world exposition whose theme of ‘A Better Tomorrow Today,’ was meant to inspire and motivate through technological innovation. However, shortly after it opened, the Expo was attacked by the forces of Hydra. When even more powerful forces threatened the entire planet, the Avengers realized that the Earth needs more heroes. So today, to better defend the planet, the Avengers are setting up new Headquarters and technology sharing exchanges around the globe to empower and inspire all potential recruits willing to step up and become heroes. In California and Paris, Tony Stark is retrofitting two of his father’s Stark Industries sites into new hubs for training and innovation. Through partnerships with S.H.I.E.L.D., Pym Technologies, Masters of the Mystic Arts and the new Worldwide Engineering Brigade, The Avengers and their allies will forge new global campuses to champion the next generation of heroes. Who’s ready to answer the call? * * * As the creative executive for Walt Disney Imagineering’s Global Marvel Portfolio, my team and I are collaborating closely with our partners across Studios and Entertainment to create exciting experiences and attractions where you can join your favorite Super Heroes at Disney Parks and Resorts. Together, we are expanding this epic story universe in a way that, for the first time ever, will allow you to take on an active role alongside these Super Heroes. These interconnected stories are coming to life at our Disney Parks. In Hong Kong Disneyland, guests have already started battling the forces of Hydra in the Iron Man Experience. Beginning in March 2019, they will join Ant-Man and Wasp in a fight against Arnim Zola and his army of evil Hydra Swarm-bots in the all-new interactive attraction, Ant-Man and The Wasp: Nano Battle! In Disney California Adventure park, guests have been helping the Guardians escape the Collector’s Fortress in Guardians of the Galaxy — Mission: BREAKOUT! And soon, in both Disney California Adventure park and Disneyland Paris, guests will encounter the heroes in new and exciting ways, from the mystic arts of Doctor Strange to the gravity-defying feats of Spider-Man. Guests will also experience the latest in Pym Technology with Ant-Man and Wasp and be wowed as Iron Man, Captain Marvel, Black Panther, Captain America and more leap into action on a moment’s notice. According to The Orange County Register, Disneyland has been revoking annual passes of passholders who buy park merchandise, then resell the items to individuals or online. Santa Alien Popcorn Buckets sell out quickly in Disneyland and Disney World The Orange County Register states that this news is “according to observers and people who say it happened to them.” The report continues that “observers say that Disney appears to have aggressively targeted these resellers, canceling their annual passes under a provision in the passholder contract that bans people from using their discounts and then reselling items they purchased inside the parks.” Holiday Mickey Light Up Straw Individual accounts, specifically those of guests who operated personal shopping businesses, can be read here. The article also discusses those referred to as flippers —“someone who buys items on spec and then resells on auction sites.” The Orange County Resister contacted Disney for comment and received the following response: “Park Rules and Annual Pass Terms and Conditions are in place to help protect the experience for all of our Guests.” Presumably, part of protecting the experience for all guests by such measures may keep incredibly sought after items from being purchased in large quantities for the sole purpose of reselling. Rose Gold Minnie Ears were incredibly popular — and sold out numerous times — in Disney World and Disneyland in 2017 and 2018. While purchase limits are often placed on items which Disney anticipates being exceptionally popular, often these limits are set per transaction (as opposed to per individual), and those with a goal of reselling may not be deterred by making multiple transactions. Well over a year ago, Sunshine Seasons in Walt Disney World’s Epcot introduced the Flower Pot Cupcake, a peanut butter and jelly cupcake cupcake that was a great balance of style and substance. It was a guest favorite for sure! Flower Pot Cupcake in Epcot And now, the Peanut Butter and Jelly Cupcake has been updated for the winter season (and lost its flower pot moniker). There are no real, edible flowers here, but it’s okay because SNOWMAN! Peanut Butter and Jelly Cupcake Check out the frosting grass and festive sprinkles, too. The cupcake itself is jumbo — definitely enough to share if you want. But we don’t think you’ll want to share because it’s also delicious! Peanut Butter and Jelly Cupcake The cake here is really light and soft, and the frosting is very subtly peanut butter. Everything you loved about the PB and J flower pot cupcake is still here! Peanut Butter and Jelly Cupcake And how cute is this snowman?! It’s actually a rice krispy treat underneath all that fondant! And of course, there are pretzel stick arms. Peanut Butter and Jelly Cupcake Inside, though, there are even more surprises. It’s all creamy peanut butter and fruity jelly. The same as the previous PB and J cupcake, and just as delicious. Peanut Butter and Jelly Cupcake Sunshine Seasons has another cupcake hit on its hands, y’all! We hope the Flower Pot returns in the spring, but until then, this snowman version is terrific! A definite must get — particularly if you love peanut butter treats! Want to see our 25 FAVORITE cupcakes of 2018? Click here for the delicious list! New cupcake alert!!! Over at All Star Music Resort there’s a Unicorn Cupcake (I know, I know, been there, done that) — but with a TWIST! Disney’s newest unicorn cupcake is a little bit better than the rest… This one starts out similar to the rest. Vanilla cake topped with vanilla buttercream swirled with a fruity rainbow buttercream. There’s glitter everywhere (natch) along with chocolate disc ears and an ice cream cone horn. All Star Music’s new Unicorn Cupcake But break that bad boy open and you’ve got something pretty special. Instead of more flavored icing or some sort of fruity jelly, you’ve got Real. Live. Sprinkles. inside…. SPRINKLES IN THE CUPCAKE! Our taste-tester said “I found it super exciting and I’m a grown woman, so kids who like princesses might lose their minds.” The cake itself is very moist and dense — almost like pound cake. And the sprinkles are just plain fun, right? You can grab this one at All Star Music Resort in Disney World for $5.99 or a Disney Dining Plan snack credit. Each one is different, just like REAL unicorns, so choose your favorite. Unicorn Cupcakes at All Star Music Resort This is definitely a destination cupcake if you have a glitter-fan in your life :-). Here at the DFB, we’re all about taking advantage of money-saving opportunities whenever possible, but we also love snacks, soooo… We’ve combined these two loves into one super tip that’s straight from the 2019 DFB Guide to Walt Disney World Dining! That’s right: Snacks that are filling enough to be meals — which means saving some money or Disney Dining Plan credits! A Walt Disney World vacation budget often revolves around food: How much do we want to spend on meals each day? What’s the most we want to spend on snacks? Are we going to buy souvenir goodies to bring home? Chocolate Dipped Krispie Treats make a fun souvenir! If you’re on the DDP, you still have planning to do and questions to ask: If we want to try a Signature meal, how do we conserve entitlements to be sure we can cover it? If we’re on a Quick Service DDP, how can we stretch those credits to cover more meals? Snacks that are satisfying enough to replace full-size meals are one way to address some of the food budget requirements your vacation will have. Here we share three of our favorite ways to maximize our food dollars — and get some yummy eats in the process! Pulled Pork Fries — Flame Tree Barbecue, Animal Kingdom You’ve heard us mention Flame Tree Barbecue‘s Pulled Pork Fries many times. That’s because they’re awesome. But when we’re talking about selecting snacks that fill you up and provide a ton of fuel for your fun, these are a terrific option! Pulled Pork Fries are pretty much what you think they are: a bed of French fries under a pile of smoky pulled pork. But then Flame Tree goes one giant step further by drowning the whole thing in plastic cheese (and a drizzle of barbecue sauce and some finely chopped peppers). Pulled Pork Fries with Cheese at Flame Tree Barbecue We’re not claiming these are, you know, healthy. But for a filling snack that can replace a meal, these are a home run. Ham and Cheese Croissant — Les Halles Boulangerie, Epcot’s World Showcase There are lots of options for snacks that equate to meals in Epcot’s World Showcase, and one of our favorites is at France’s Les Halles Boulangerie. Order the Ham and Cheese Croissant — then thank us later by grabbing a Napoleon for us. This toasty sandwich is on Les Halles’ flaky, buttery croissant, and the ham and cheese offer lots of protein to keep you feeling full longer. With this, you’re getting quantity and quality — plus you’re exactly where you want to be if you need a sweet treat to go along with your savory one! Stop by France’s bakery for a filling snack! Grab the Ham and Cheese Croissant for breakfast or for lunch — it’s terrific any time. Don’t forget to ask the cast member to warm it up for you! And check out our photo tour from the reopening of Les Halles a few years ago! Tomato Soup — Pinocchio Village Haus, Magic Kingdom If you’re trying to eat a little lighter but still want to grab a filling snack, look no further than Pinocchio Village Haus in Magic Kingdom’s Fantasyland. The Tomato Basil Soup here is delicious, warm, and satisfying. If you really want to bulk this up even further (or if you’re looking for something to share), get an order of breadsticks to go along with it. Dunk, munch, repeat! Tomato Basil Soup at Pinocchio Village Haus You know this one is a winner because it’s been a DFB favorite since the old days! Snacking at Walt Disney World is practically an art, and finding snacks that can replace meals (or help you stretch a little further between them) is a great way to save a little moolah and enjoy more of the good eats the World has to offer. Find more great snacks that can be made into meals — and all of our Disney Dining tips! — in the DFB Guide below! Don’t Miss Out on Any Disney Fun — And Find All Our Disney Dining Tips HERE! In today’s Weekend Edition of Disney Doodles, artist Ashley Taylor imagines what Scrooge and the other characters from the 1983 film, “Mickey’s A Christmas Carol,” would do if they could visit Magic Kingdom Park. According to Ashley, Scrooge’s ability to find the joy of Christmas would likely lead them all to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, where they could soak up the joy of the season together. “The characters of ‘Mickey’s A Christmas Carol’ learn the importance of Christmas in their film,” she said. “It’s easy to imagine them wanting to spend quality time with friends and family at the Magic Kingdom Park.” View the full article
